During their first banishment to the underdark, the drow began crafting magical boots, bracelets, rings and saddles to make riding exotic beasts like spiders, giant lizards, dire bats easier. In modern times, this magic artisanship was forgotten until Larien Bancurpi discovered references to it in the It'lal archives and began her own studies. Using her significant arcane knowledge and riding experience, Larien re-developed the means to magically increase riding abilities beyond the norm via a ring. When such a ring is worn, it continually grants the wearer a +5 (lesser) or +10 (greater) competence bonus on Ride checks.
