Ula shrugs off Twitch's attempted grapple, but Ula and Sesha both can tell a successful one could do a lot of damage. Ula does wait to hear if you have any suggestions.

Ethyl seems to be unaffected by the blindness spell, given the speed that she drops her invisibility field and flies behind you. As you prepare your AoO, you get distracted... by Ethyl flying behind Twitch and towards the ground. The Ethyl that flies past you, using acrobatics to avoid your AoO, shrieks in delight as she prepares to fire a spell. The Ethyl behind Twitch also shrieks in delight, as she prepares to fire a spell.

Will Save 21 Highlight to display spoiler: {The real Ethyl is behind Twitch.}

Kinda curious. With See invis, Mislead would have let Sesha see two versions of Ethyl anyways. In order for Ethyl to move her double, she has to concentrate for the round. Was something possibly missed? I don't mind making the will save (Failed)

Also curious how the Ethyl near me was Held for two rounds if it's the illusion.

Spellcraft 28: What spell is she casting?

ADM Melvin

Because Sesha can see Ethyl, she can see the spell as it is being cast, before she drops the invisibility (as a free action). Highlight to display spoiler: {Persistent Image, copy of self}. Sesha works backwards - she makes a copy of herself (that cannot be detected by perception) and then moves in two different directions, daring you and Ula to decide which is the real one.

(Ethyl just cast this image spell so you did hold the real one before.)

Sesha Hp 106/88 AC 30/26/26

So to be clear, last round she

Dropped Invis: (Dispelling your own spell is actually a standard action.)
Cast Persistent Image: (Standard Action - Programmed it to move.)
Started another spell: (Standard action?)

If so, she may have done too much.

ADM Melvin
Wednesday August 10th, 2016 2:51:24 PM

OOC: "started another spell" was flavor text to place pressure on the PCs, and was not meant to indicate any actual action besides hand movement. Dropping a spell, however, is a standard action.

So I will upgrade it that both copies have "invisibility field." Is this acceptable or would you prefer I start from scratch?

Not quite sure which is which, Sesha is a bit worried.

"There's illusions at work Ula! You keep focusing on the Liontaur! If he can't grab you, you'll win!"

Mid rage, she wasn't sure if Ula was going to be more resistant or not to her spells, but she couldn't gamble. Right now, one of the gnomes, plus the Liontaur, were together.

"Hope this works."

She targets a confusion spell, capable of hitting both of her foes, and leaving the barbarian out of it.

Confusion: Will Save DC 21

01–25 Act normally
26–50 Do nothing but babble incoherently
51–75 Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand
76–100 Attack nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject's self)

A confused character who can't carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently. Attackers are not at any special advantage when attacking a confused character. Any confused character who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes. Note that a confused character will not make attacks of opportunity against any creature that it is not already devoted to attacking (either because of its most recent action or because it has just been attacked).

(Indeed. If they had not been right next to each other my action would have been different. Although I imagine that if Ethyl is affected, Sesha could be sure the other is an illusion, or at least have a hunch. I didn't even think Ula could see them, to be honest.)

ADM Melvin

Sesha is mostly sure that the spell landed on the "real" Ethyl, but she acts normally. Specifically, she displaces Twitch.

Twitch attempts to grapple Ula again and fails, settling for a bite and a claw swipe. Ula is somewhat unsteady (half of her HP is gone) but still holding up. She seems unsure at the sudden displacement.

The fake Ethyl (Sesha presumes that it is following some programming) drops her invisibility field and flies at Ula. (The real Ethyl is still invisible to Ula.) Ula does not make her will save and seems surprised at the gnome's "attack."

"Ula! It's a fake! The real one is invisible and behind Twitch!"

Sesha considers the possibility that Ula might lose. She speaks calmly to the barbarian as best as she can.

"Ula. I can't heal faster than Twitch can hurt you. You just have to kill him quicker than he can kill you!"

She does acknowledge the displacement problem.

"Don't worry about the magic. I'm a Drow, we are used to deceit. This sort of magic is nothing."

She points at the Liontaur and channels inner power, outlining it in bright pink faerie fire.

Range long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)

Area creatures and objects within a 5-ft.-radius burst

Duration 1 min./level (D)

Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes

A pale glow surrounds and outlines the subjects. Outlined subjects shed light as candles. Creatures outlined by faerie fire take a –20 penalty on all Stealth checks. Outlined creatures do not benefit from the concealment normally provided by darkness (though a 2nd-level or higher magical darkness effect functions normally), blur, displacement, invisibility, or similar effects. The light is too dim to have any special effect on undead or dark-dwelling creatures vulnerable to light. The faerie fire can be blue, green, or violet, according to your choice at the time of casting. The faerie fire does not cause any harm to the objects or creatures thus outlined.

Standard: Faerie Fire
Move: Put 60ft between her and the group of enemies, maintaining her 60ft height.

Worried by the wounds and Twitch's ability to grapple, Ula decides to try tripping Twitch instead. (Despite the AoO.)

(At 33 vs CMD, that will probably do it.)

Successful, Ula uses her other action to try and fight the spirit behind her, until your words start to sink in.

Ethyl appears worried. Ula appears relieved. And you... see someone else in the distance, about 150 yards out, watching you. Another illusion?

Sesha tries to determine if the person is flying, on foot, or has weapons drawn. 450 feet is within range of some of her longer range spells.

"Ula. There's a confusion spell on the Gnome. She's going to be a bit lost for awhile. She isn't helpless, but odds are she won't drop a spell on you. Finish her properly and without cutting any corners."

Sesha looks for the tell-tale signs the newest arrival might be another figment.

ADM Melvin  d20+16=31 ;

Sesha cannot tell much from this distance (150 feet, not yards, sorry, but still). She can tell the figure is smallish (dwarf?) and that he is standing on the ground. She can see some movement, like he (Zundarr? He's the only tribute left.) is waving around his arms. As far as Sesha can tell, this figure is real.

Recognizing a possible spell from a potential tribute, Sesha breaks off her attacks on Ethyl to attack Zundarr. But her leyline fails her.

Ula makes some quick calculations. She moves around Twitch's body (20 feet) and grapple's Ethyl before she can fly back up, taking the AoO (Grapple 31). "Don't worry, I can attack her better from this position next round."

Update - there is a possibility that Twitch might not be dead, we are reviewing the rules. Please stand by.

As Ula grapples Ethyl, Ethyl's confusion causes her to strike at the nearest figure... Ula. Ethyl cannot cast spells while grappled (concentration check DC is insane) but she can fire a blinding ray, blinding Ula for one round.

Zundarr completes his full round action: summoning a large air elemental. For this round, he casts a Dispel Magic on Sesha, trying to dispel her flying (caster level check 19). The large air elemental charges Sesha and attacks (attack 26, 7 damage).

(Sesha's AC is 30. DC to dispel Flying broom is 11 + 10 = 21)

( In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell.)

(Please note that Blinding Ray from both the Wizard School of Illusion AND the Sorcerer Bloodlines are both Spell Like Abilities. The Spell level counts as their character level in both cases.)

Sesha flies lower and towards Ula and Ethyl. Once the barbarian finished the Gnome, she might need it to pound on the elemental.

Figuring a bit of magical back and forth might suit her, Sesha tries for a knockout, and attempts to put the Dwarf to sleep.

Ethyl, in her confusion, attempts to fire a blinding ray, and Ula thanks her stars that she had the foresight to grapple, the instant win tool of melees.

Ula, however, is unsure of what to do next. She cannot even punch, since she needs to maintain the grapple. And if she lets go, she loses her advantage. But a threat is a threat, and there is a chance the gnome will just stay there. So while she would prefer to keep the gnome alive strategically to focus on this new threat, she has her orders.

Ula releases the gnome and makes her full round attacks with the vicious sword.

She keeps a wary out eye for the summoned elemental. It's orders were to kill her, not to help the summoner. She didn't figure it would interfere, other than a clumsy punch.

"For today, my servant. The last time today. There's still a lot of places for us to go and see when these games are over. Our future seems bright, glory be to Ga'al.

She looks at the cluttered dead. Her brief ally, Ula, seared by painful magic. Twitch, the Liontaur she had longed to meet, dead by the womans sword. That strange druid, the second one she had killed today. So much carnage, she hoped whoever was watching was entertained.

If it looks like she wont have any interruptions, she casts both bulls strength and enlarge person. The final thrust needed to be worthy. If it seems impossible, she will make due with what she already has going for her.

In a flash the gamezone disappears, sliding and running beneath your feet like water in a funnel. After several heartbeats floating in the void, you are shunted back into space. You are home. Checking the sky, you see that no time has passed since you were plucked by the Hosts to contend with the other Tributes. Indeed, even your clothes are mended and wounds healed without a visible scar. The only indication of your journey is a small mark on on the back of your right hand near your thumb. The sigil of a bird holding an arrow in its mouth, within a circle.
