Sir Henri(AC 22 72?72hp)
Tuesday April 26th, 2005 6:41:32 AM

Sir Henri Looks on as his now Big Buddy spits the rat from his mouth and the chewed ball of furry glob with a rats tail, hit the floor with a splat?
Henri whispers to Kashmarie "I'm not picking up after him, pointing to GargolothBut he will come in handy in reducing the rodent population!"

The Paladin will wait for his chance to enter the room, but first somebody has to take care of that lock.

Marek Isentomb
Tuesday April 26th, 2005 10:36:45 AM

Marek grimaces slightly, not that the door has a magical trap, but that apparently not one of them knows how to deactivate it without setting the damn thing off. Looks like a job for big and ugly

Marek turns a twinkled eye to the ogre. "Looks like you get to go in first after all. Henri and I will be right behind you, ssuming your strong enough to get the door open..."

Ragnalfr (Ac 22, Mage Armor, Fly[25/60], Shield[23/60])  d20+8=9
Tuesday April 26th, 2005 8:37:46 PM

"Not that don't love to see doors splintering apart as much as the next guy, but touching that knob or lock is gonna get you electricuted," Ragnalfr responds glibly.

"If you can all keep from breaking stuff for a couple seconds, perhaps I can dispel the trap."

Ragnalfr casts DISPEL MAGIC on the doorknob.
[Spellcaster check 9. Nat 1]

The elf looks at the doorknob for a moment longer.
Well, that's embarrassing

"Or maybe not," he says aloud.

Ragnalfr floats out the way, giving the ogre a good place to run.
"After you.
"Mind the doorknob.""

Kashmari
Tuesday April 26th, 2005 10:08:12 PM

Kashmari might have been able to work with the trap, but is reluctant to do so as Ragnalfr's magic fizzles.
Like Ragnalfr she will let whoever wants to bash the door to see what happens. It's not like they really need to be stealthy any way because the enemy already know they are here!

Gargoloth  d20+16=28 2d8(8+1)+15=24
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 12:02:57 AM

The Ogre sighs with resignation. Apparently this is some sort of "test" to make sure his intentions are genuine.

"Right. Step outta da way then wizard...dis ain't gonna hurt, is it?" He asks the mage as he hefts the giant axe over his head.

Attack= 28
dmg= 24

With a mighty swing, Gargoloth brings the axe down onto the door, hoping he doesn't become a crispy critter.

Justin Webber (DM) London ogres falling down  3d6(1+1+2)=4 3d6(5+6+2)=13
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 12:39:19 AM

Ragnalfr tries casting dispell magic on the door knob and lock but it doesn't work and even makes the door knob crackle for just a second.

Everyone else waits as Gargoloth steps forward and swings a powerful blow down on the door. Anticipation on what might happen flows and time seems to beat terribly slow as the axe decends and finally slams into the door. For moments all that happens in the door shudders but is intact but suddenly the iron bands on the door also erupt with the electric energy and zaps through the axe that is partly inbedded in the wood of the door. The blast of electric can be heard zapping right to the ogre and the burst is so powerful it makes what hair the ogre has stand up and his eyes look like they light up before he is blasted through the door way and onto his back. Alittle smoke rolls off of the ogre now. (Gargoloth takes 17 points of eletric damage.)

Sir Henri (Ac 22 72/72hp)  d8+4=10
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 8:26:06 AM

The paladin turn to shield Kashmarie from the splinters to come. Nothing happen! So he returns his attention to their new Big Friend. "Oh! that's got to hurt, even foran Orger?"

So when the smoking hair stops< Sir Henri will touch him on the arm and heal him of 10 hp of damage.

Hart
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 9:25:59 AM

Hart, hardly able to contain his patience with the door and the party, he starts to say, "For Goddess' sake, just...." When the ogre slams into the door. The druid smile widely. "Might like heem after all." He says quietly.

Spirit claps.

Loran shudders and takes off of the staff at the sound, his eyes wide. He clicks his beak irritably.

Tyal
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 1:18:31 PM

Tyal winces as the ogre is throw by the spell. He closes his eyes against the sudden blast of light and debris.

When at last the smoke clears he makes his way to the ogre and shakes his head. Sir Henri gets there first and heals the guy up for a little bit. Tyal smiles down at the ogre and would offer a hand but knows that that would lead to him being pulled onto the ground. "Do you still hurt and do you need more attention?" He seems worried though he still has his doubts about the ogre...still the guy has a way with doors.

He calls back over his shoulder to the others. "Is everyone ok...sound off please." He waits to see what the ogre has to say before he moves off. "I am not sure who won that round...the ogre or the door." He smiles for the ogre trying to lighten the mood after that experience.

Kashmari  d20+4=18 d20+8=13
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 5:39:20 PM

Now that no one is milling around in front of the door Kashmari approaches the door and carefully fiddles with the lock; or even with the hinge pins. (If possible she will take 20, if not then: Spot 18, Disable Device 13).
If she fails to make any head way with the lock; and there is still time, then Kashmari will try "Control Object" on the lock to make the lock move in such a way as to unlock itself. If she uses "Control Object" on the door she will not worry about masking any manifestation display.

Name: Control Object
Discipline: Psychokinesis
Level: Kineticist 1
Display: Material (Object is briefly covered in a shimmering, translucent slime (ectoplasmic seepage from the Astral Plane); which evaporates after 1 round)
Manifestation time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (170ft)
Description: You telekinetically "bring to life" one inanimate object. The object moves under your control. Note: live vegetation, already animate objects and Undead cannot be controlled in this fashion. The controlled object moves like a puppet, with jerky and clumsy movements, at a speed of up to 20ft. If its form is rigid then it makes creaking, groaning or grating sounds as it moves. A controlled object can attack an opponent if you direct it to do so. It has one slam attack, at a base attack bonus equal to your base attack bonus + your Int mod. If the attack hits, it deals damage equal to 1d6 + your Int mod. A controlled object has its usual hardness and hit points. Note: you can use this power on a non-magical lock, making it move in such a way as to attempt to unlock itself. If another character makes an Open Lock check involving a lock that you are concentrating on controlling, the character gains a +4 bonus on the check.
Duration: Concentration, up to 7 rounds
Saving throw: None
Power resistance: No
Power Points: 1
DC: 15

Gargoloth AC 22 HP 64/71
Wednesday April 27th, 2005 5:57:22 PM

The Ogre sits up slowly from the shock and shakes his head briskly, much like a dog that is shaking off some water.

As Sir Henri heals him Gargoloth nods his thanks and staggers to his feet. He rolls his shoulders and cracks his neck a bir, checking the damage.

At Tyal's offer of aid, Gargoloth smiles with a bit of embaressment. "Sure...I could use a lil' more fixin' up if yer willin'. I think that one cooked my liver!" He adds with a deep chuckle, poking his stomach gingerly.

He looks up just as Kashmari is about to start picking the lock. "Uh Oh!" He mutters and quickly steps to the side in case the trap is still active.

(Comment: Kashmari)

Fern looks on in amazment as it is suggested that Gargoloth try and open a magically traped door What idiots, do they actually think that he's going to do it. and is then even more amazed that Gargoloth actually tries Ooh that has got to hurt, why did he do it. I'm sure that if we had taken a few more minutes we might have found a way to open the door without endangering anybody. Fern is ready to attack as surely somebody has heard all the noise.

Friday April 29th, 2005 5:01:36 PM

Gargoloth slowly makes his way to his feet and is cured of his damage after being damaged by the doors trap.

Kashmari moves forward and begins to look over how to disarm the trap, she really sees no way to disarm the trap right off since when she moves to get a better look or try and do something else the metal bindings and such on the door give off a spark showing the elctricity is still there.

Kashmari tries using her ability on the lock also. She hears a satisfying click as the tumbler on the lock is undone but to your dismay the lock reclicks shut again just as quickly. Clearly the enchantments on this door are strong.

Still nothing is stirring in the hall ways.

(OOC:Eunice, if there is a problem with how I worked the magical trap/lock then please contact me through email or perferably AIM and I will talk it over with you.)

Gargoloth takes a second to smooth down his stacticly charged mane of arm hair and looks at Sir Henri. "Somethin' musta heard that noise. We should be on the look out fer baddies."

(*making several actions/checks in one post in case I am unable to post this week due to my 8 week (6 weeks left) nursing student "internship" at the nursing home*)

Kashmari sees that manipulating the lock will not work. She has seen what bashing the metal bindings on the door does as well. So she will try something less expected.

Kashmari uses "control object" on each of the hinge bolts. They will basically just walk their way out of the hinge, creating an alternative way of opening the door.
Luckily she doesn't have to see the hinges to do this little 'trick'.

Once all of the hinge bolts are removed she will command the door to walk away from it's door jamb and away from herself (i.e. down the hall away from the group). The door will obediently walk off with creaking, groaning movements.

I really hate magic. Well not true only when I'm on the wrong side

Marek waits Kash's results, though he expects the magic holding the door closed will remain. If Kashmari is not successful...

"OK so we apparently don't have the arcane or divine power currently to go through the door, and force is a bit shy as well."

Fort Maps

"that being the case, we need a key or the spellcasters to alter the spell lists, which they can't do til tomorrow. So I propose we move and secure the right section."

"Trophy room, Armory and the right guard tower. Problems, question concerns? No? Great. Fern stay put in the corridor and make sure nothing comes up our tails. Tyal, Mykell with me." And Marek then moves down the right hall to the door that the map refers to as the Trophy Room for a listen {Listen 12]

Kashmari (scene description)
Monday May 2nd, 2005 6:04:42 PM

To everyone else who doesn't know what exactly Kashmari is doing it must just look like she is standing there staring at the door and concentrating.
The bolts won't drop to the floor as Kashmari will be laying them on the floor not dropping them, so good hearing might catch the slight noises on the other side of the door? (Providing Kashmari succeeds; Lady Dicey and DM willing!)

The Ogre fishes a large stone out of his backpack and tosses it in the air a few times to judge it's weight. Apparently satasfied, he clutches it in his fist and swings the massive battle axe onto his shoulder. Giving the door one last glower, he walks purposefully down the hallway.

(OOC:Sorry for not posting till now. Had something happen yesterday, I'll make up for Mon post Sat.)

Everyone awaits patiently or maybe alittle impatiently for the door to hopefully open. Kashmari looks like she is concentrating hard on the door and for many moments nothing happens but then suddenly with loud creaks and moans the door begins to slowly walk away from where it was. The door moves some distance down the hall to the left side before coming to rest, leaning against the wall.

The room ahead of you looks empty from where you stand but you can get a overly good view inside it. Off to the right side is a door way that looks like it leads to a smaller room.

(OOC:Just a small note, inless other wise noted all doors a single doors not double. However some, like the one you just went through is built abit larger then others.)

The small room Marek goes to check on. Once he opens the door he is greeted with a view of a bed in one corner of the small room and a two swords hang on the wall over the bed. The room also has a small dresser and such but nothing of more interest other then in the far corner of the room is a set of stairs leading up to the second floor.

Kashmari reads the writing etched onto the spines of the books. Which books that are in the library might give some useful information on the enemy.

She takes note of Marek's off hand comment about "the rest can cover our backs".
She wonders if he even realizes how that particular wording might lead to the exact opposite occuring?
She grins slightly, 'Marek probably hasn't even considered it, he's more of a "do'er" than a "thinker".'

((No insult is intended with any of this Marek. Kashmari is just pondering the difference between the warriors and their ways and the "magic users" and their ways.))

Squatting at the top of the stairs Marek can see the ogre ransacking the place and Mykell can see the him pinch his nose and close his eyes. "Would someone mind telling the chief not to trash our future home or is that too terribly much to ask?"

"Ragnalfr..." he begins but then just waves his hand down the stairs.

Things are about to get real exciting Marek moves off into the second floor towards the Smithy

The Paladin is looking up the stairs at Marek. He put hid pointing finger on his thumb (in a sign of OK). The paladin will go to Gargoloth, puting a hand on the Once Oger Chief's back. Mustering all the deplomacy (37) that he can muster, "My Dear Friend, may I call you a Friend? Marek went up stairs and found somebody making all that noise, I don't think your going to to like the monster he's creating. You don't understand creating?? Well you know the enermy you fought in the entrance?? Well this guy is making one up there now! Want to go upstairs with me know??"

If there enough time he'll head to the stair-well.

Gargoloth
Wednesday May 11th, 2005 1:36:22 PM

The Ogre turns to Sir Henry with a sneer as he's dumping out the last of the drawers, but upon hearing what the Paladin has to say, his demeanor changes somewhat.

"Well, can't let that lil' furry headed chain swinger 'ave all da fun, now can we! Let's go, 'Enry."

Gargoloth pile drives the dresser into the ground, shattering it for the sheer fun of it before grabbing his axe and heading for the stairs.

Kashmari (Ubiquitous Vision, 70mins.)
Thursday May 12th, 2005 12:00:15 AM

Kashmari sees the orge's petty vandalism and doesn't appreciate that he is doing more damage to the place than any good he has done so far. If he keeps that up they might just end up having to throw him out as well just to make sure that they still have anything left of the keep. After all he isn't one of the team at the moment - his "grace period" hasn't even passed yet...

Up the stairs they go.

Thursday May 12th, 2005 8:53:56 PM

(OOC:I'm really sorry everyone. The last couple of days I felt drained and went to bed early and yesterday it stormed bad here.)

Some talks erupt among the group about going up the stairs and finishing clearing the rooms on the first floor. From the looks though Marek plans to head up stairs no matter what.

The ogre before deciding to follow Marek shatters a dresser on the floor but really finds nothing inside it other wise except some normal clothing and a few misc's books.

The book shelves are covered in mainly strategy books and a few law and normal books line the shelves too.

Up the stairs Marek comes into the documents room. As he steps in though a group of six rogues and two of the large looking men are here. The large men pull a large two handed sword from off their back and the rogues pull shortswords and have a buckler on their free arm.

(OOC:I hope everyone is ready to continue. I will do my best to keep up with the posts. I will look into making sure a DM post is up everyday but weekends maybe except if posts are missed. Please everyone try to make posts each day also if a DM post is made. Once more sorry for the lack of posting.)

Sunday May 15th, 2005 5:48:57 PM

Kashmari hears the sounds of battle coming from upstairs. She runs up the stairs and then moves just off to one side of the top of the stairs (in case anyone follows her up, so she isn't blocking the stairway).
She concentrates and manifests "matter agitation" focused on the face of one of the large men wielding the huge swords.

(Concentration 41; no display. First round 1 point of damage to the man's face - he now has local sunburn!)

Name: Matter Agitation

2nd round: Wood smolders and smokes, metal becomes hot to the touch, skin blisters (1d4 pts of dmg), hair smolders, paint shrivels, water boils.
3rd round and subsequent rounds: Wood ignites; metal scorches (1d4 pts of dmg for those holding metallic objects). Skin burns and hair ignites (1d6 pts of dmg), lead melts.

Hart continues on when the other do.

He snatches two particularly interesting books entitled, "The Way Gnomes Avoid Tactical Errors In Combat And How You Can Too" and another less interesting title "Terror, Tactics and Turmoil: The Three "T's" For A Successful Tyrant", puts them into his bag, and waits to move on with the others.

While standing and waiting for the others to move, he spots a book that might actually help there current situation. The title reads "Storming Forts and Castles: A Dummies Guide". He grabs this one too and starts reading hastily.

Justin Webber (DM) Unstiars battle
Monday May 16th, 2005 10:21:20 PM

Gargoloth goes charging in and is able to hammer his target with a nice hit.

Marek sends his chain into quick work and in a few moments has all the rogues shortswords shatters. One of the shortsword's pieces glow faintly before fading out.

Kashmari concentreates her powers on the same large man that the ogre hit and has the man howling in pain in a few moments.

All others going up the stairs are either on the stairs or just entering the room.

Hart grabs a few books and finds one to read.

Aelanthir however goes on alittle exploring on his own. Heading through the halls he heads for the armory, he sees nothing in this hall as he goes either. He notices that there is a iron bar look in area built into the door and peaking in he sees the maker of the noise. Inside is a couple rogues and one dwarf who is chained up and working on something at a anvil.

The dwarf looks at the rogues with each pound of the hammer on the solid metal he is working and words come from his mouth in a happy song as the song seems to be irriatating the rogues, "Every bump is a rogue's head....pools of blood from the rogue's dead....if only the rogues didn't have lead in their head....they wouldn't of become dead."

Tyal can now hear that his arm will be needing up those stairs or at least his healing will. He is soon heading for the stairs and up them, he pauses only slightly to give Kashmari a wink and that "what can you do look". Though it does seem kind of strange from a battle priest, that he would have a problem with a fight.

He takes stock of the situation as he tries to decide where would he be most useful.

(OOC- Justin, I think you forgot Gargoloth's last attack on your last post)

Hart  d20+10=18 2d6(5+5)+5=15
Thursday May 19th, 2005 4:46:15 AM

He attacks when he is within range [he moved in Wednesday post].
(AC 18, for 15 damage, counts as magical)

Spirit has sunk deep into the satyr's hood again.

Loran flies to a high point and watches from a distance.

Sir Henri (AC 22 72/72hp)  d20+10=29 d20+4=10 d8+3=9 d8+3=10 d8+3=5
Thursday May 19th, 2005 10:46:46 AM

The paladin attacks again, hitting a rouge closes to him, hitting him once and missing him with the second swing.

"Are you alright, Fern?" Henri ask her.

Attack AC 29 & AC 10 - Damages 9+10=19hp, 5hp is a miss.

Kashmari (Ubiquitous Vision, 70mins, Matter Agitation up to 7 mins. or until concentration on target ceases)  d6=5 d4=4 d20+28=44 d20+28=43
Thursday May 19th, 2005 3:32:59 PM

Kashmari easily continues to concentrate on hoding the power to burn the same enemy's face (large warrior with a large sword; now a screaming alpha!).
His facial skin is literally burning now (possibly melting?) and all of his nearby hair ignites in flames (head and face burns for a further 5 pts of dmg).
Any metal on his person near his head scorches his skin (1d4 heat dmg; 4 dmg) and any lead jewelry et. al. on his person near enough his head will also melt.

(Concentration 44; to continue holding the power. Concentration 43; no display. Third round a further 5 points of local third degree burns and brightly burning hair; 4 pts dmg from this!)

Name: Matter Agitation
Discipline: Psychokinesis
Level: Psion 1
Range: Close (55ft)
Description: You heat a creature or object (non-psionic, non-magical objects). You can excite the structure of a non-magical object, heating it to the point of combustion over time. The agitation of the matter grows more intense in the second and third rounds after you manifest the power. If you shift your focus to another object, the first object cools down and the second object begins to heat up.
1st round: Readily flammable materials (paper, dry grass, tinder, torches) ignite. Skin reddens (1 pt of dmg).
2nd round: Wood smolders and smokes, metal becomes hot to the touch, skin blisters (1d4 pts of dmg), hair smolders, paint shrivels, water boils.
3rd round and subsequent rounds: Wood ignites; metal scorches (1d4 pts of dmg for those holding metallic objects). Skin burns and hair ignites (1d6 pts of dmg), lead melts.
(You can continue to agitate a chosen surface area up to the duration of the power if concentration holds.)
Note: on the 4th round and onwards this power continues to deal the same damage as specified in the third round.
Target: 2 sq. ft. of surface area of an object or creature
Duration: Concentration, up to 7 mins.
Saving throw: None
Power resistance: Yes
Power Points: 1
DC: 15

Sir Henri swings Hitting AC17/AC20, hopefully Damages are damages 4hp/4hp. Wiping blood from his sword, then get the stand to do it all over again.

Mystery trolls
Monday May 23rd, 2005 10:46:36 PM

OOC: Now, remember, these trolls aren't sanctioned by Justin, therefore, ALL damage dealt by them and resources are not used up when he returns.

Please tell me your characters race somewhere in your post.

The trolls are within 30ft from the party. They are large and have reach. One of the six trolls seems to be the leader and is much tougher looking than the rest; he is armored and carries a large greataxe.

Grunts AC 16, unarmed and no armor.
Leaders AC 21, carries greataxe.

'Ergblat signmal eesendon!' Says the leader, in a giant dialect. At that, the trolls converge around the little archer who just fired at him. He brushes the arrow away from his neck and the wound begins closing slowly.

The leader remains at least distance of 30ft from the party, while the grunts close around the party.

All the grunts are within 40ft of each other and seem focused on Fern or any other smaller characters and Hart.
