He drifts down with Tishe, the spellcasters to protect her if needed. While he does he switches back to his sword. Watching Lanliss take a bite of the forbidden fruit, Brom rolls his eyes.
Tishe’ considers the dangers that may be hidden in the garden. And so, the inquisitive but mature Spellweaver keeps her trap shut and looks to Velarin and Emrys to explain the visit.
Like Tishe’ and Brom, Lanliss, Edson, and Barratore are silent and let others step forward to speak with the green lady.
Velarin steps forward to declare that no further incursions will be allowed into the Wold Above, and that the group is here to negotiate.
The green lady’s eyes flash and she replies sharply, “And how did Maegos reply when you told him he would no longer be able to mine the earth above for his precious metals?”

Emrys doesn't fully understand the hostility between these two. You'd think in this place outside of time, it would be in their better interests to get along. Eternity is a long time to be in a quarrel. However, now doesn't seem to be the proper time to ask personal questions. Tempers are flared and need to be defused.

Barratore inhales to provide a retort and end this, but Emrys speaks first and the minotaur simply exhales with a loud snort. This is precisely what he did not want to do. The group had no other option. These 2 beings could reach out beyond their dimensional worlds and pull in innocents of the Wold. corrupt them, turn them into slaves and worse and here she is saying that she plans to continue to do so.
Barratore thought it was time to begin aggressive negotiations. The others had already made their points about sealing the mines. These beings have been doing this since the great Cataclysm. Mundane and magical forces the Keepers could bring to bear simply don't compare to that.
Barratore had the same questions, he expected the same answers and he expected the same no win situation to play out. If so, he had decided to force everyone's hand. For now, he would let Emrys continue the charade on any other solution

But, Emrys had a way with words certainly and should have been leading all of these discussions. Diplomacy is a practice the wizard should have to look into, he decides, but for now. The lady of plants does indeed mention that she seeks the armor of her former lover, and Velarin’s head explodes.
“If you will not get the Maegos Armor, then you are no good to me.” The green woman attacks.
First she tries to cast a quickened barkskin. She is caster level 20, so you need a 31 to succeed ... Tishe does! The quickened spell fails.
She then walks up to Velarin and attacks! Barratore’s readied attack of 41 misses against her AC44. She punches Velarin, hitting AC51: Velarin takes 17 damage AND dispels Velarin’s Haste spell!

Emrys is both surprised and dumbstruck at her reaction. He said nice things and a nice way. He expressed things he thought she would want to hear: regret, remorse of past deeds from a jilted lover. (It appears Barratore's weapon is not adamantine, but he has greater penetrating strike, and his attacks with his sword ignore the 1st 10 points of DR. So by the way I'm reading it, she has DR 5 to him.)

That was a very potent spell he had cast. She should be choking for air on the ground. The magic simply washed over her. Her resistance is strong ... which he had no doubt, but not to that extent. He did however get a taste of her essence ... minty humus, he knows this earthy sweetness. She is more like himself than he thought. Their powers have deep roots ... Culverwood being his ... and this grove being hers; he is certain of it. He could destroy her entire grove of trees but he doesn't wish harm to his friends in the process. For now, he chooses to focus on her.

Brom moves to O9 and seeks to destroy the green woman. He thinks, what’s love got to do with it. Attack (pa, gvs, rage): AC 37; damage 59 ... he swings and misses, even with a flanking bonus.
Tishe’s, till hovering, casts Ice Wall to prevent her from retreating into the orchard -- it appears behind her. Then a Scorching Ray or three to target the nature wizard. [OOC Please Roll Penetration vs SR 44] And then she readies a Dispel Magic as a Counterspell to attempt to counter K’s next Spell attempt!
The enemy tries to cast a quickened Wall of Thorns, but the spell is quickly countered by Tishe.
Edson rushes in with the others to flank the woman... (Acrobatics 50 to dodge a.o.o). He slashes, but misses all three times.
The Green Lady punches at Barratore. She hits ACs 50 and 55 for 16 damage and 20 damage ... please apply your own DR if any (stoneskin?). In addition, her punches are anti-magical ... by my reckoning he has Magic Circle, Stoneskin, Fly, Heroes Feast, and Freedom of Movement. Rolling randomly, the punches take down the Fly and the Heroes Feast.
IN ADDITION, the very strands of her hair are revealed to be magical vines! Six vines grow wildly out, assailing the rest of you! Velarin's stoneskin absorbs most of the damage that Barratore would have received, but at the rate that his spells were getting stripped away, it probably wouldn't be there long.
Barratore goes to work with his bastard sword, and decides to forgo the power attack, and try and get multiple shots in now that he had some flanking help. (41-miss, 50-threat and confirmed crit, 40-miss, 27-miss, hasted swing 43-miss.)(this die roller sucks)( damage 50)

That was a very potent spell he had cast. She should be choking for air on the ground. The magic simply washed over her. Her resistance is strong ... which he had no doubt, but not to that extent. He did however get a taste of her essence ... minty humus, he knows this earthy sweetness. She is more like himself than he thought. Their powers have deep roots ... Culverwood being his ... and this grove being hers; he is certain of it. He could destroy her entire grove of trees but he doesn't wish harm to his friends in the process. For now, he chooses to focus on her.
He steps back several feet (moves to V7) to get out of range of her lashing vines.

Lanliss swings thrice and misses. He notes that plants and leaves and even the trees around in the area, give her some vitality and even animate to protect her; that’s part of why she has such a high AC.

Emrys tries not to look surprised. He is confident of his powers, but he knows that his chances were not in his favor ... not with such potent adversaries. However he can feel a growing tension ... the tug and pull of forceful minds. He won't be able to maintain control for too long.
"It didn't have to come to this, but YOU forced my HAND!" He shakes his fist in anger, not realizing at first that his hand was fully wooden and covered in thick, serrated thorns (Wooden Fist SU, free action). He quickly retracts the thorns and replaces it a more fleshy and flexible hand.
He turns to his friends and explains what's happened. "For now, I have her under my control. I won't have it much longer ... I'd say for the next 17 minutes. Don't consider her truly surrendered. This submission is purely by my command alone. She is still very much hostile towards us. If you want to take advantage and end her existence, that would be the very prudent decision. My interests dwell primarily in life and death, light and shadow; and I try and walk that fine line between the two. Much of the gray in the between are beyond my comprehension. I don't feel a connection to others, like what you and Maegos had. I don't understand love and how it breaks. I don't see beauty ... music has no sway. These seemingly simple things, that all people experience, makes to sense to me. I was hoping one of you could explain this so that I could understand. Answer me, do you still love Maegos? Pity."

She's just an avatar! the fact they were lucky to have won the day against just a representation of the being did not sit well with Barratore. Even if they took the flowers and the armor, wouldn't the near immortal powers of these realms simply will another avatar into being? Snort!
Love and hate were so very close to each other, what the Keepers best option would be is to gain apathy by each for the other. A complete uncaring would cease this conflict, but like they were in love with each other and thus hated each other, or perhaps the other way around. Like those couples that marry and divorce every few years.
"Her flowers bind her and sustain her to this place as does the armor for Maegos. To give either the other is to declare a winner of a war of pain we are ill equipped to fathom or declare victors in. For the good of our realm, I say we remove the flowers and armor from these places to be held securely away from them both."

Edson digs the dirt from under his nail while he waits any direction. She was giving the party a lot of info and that was good, but once that 17 minutes was up, she was gonna reign hell.
Velarin listens intently to her answers and frowns as it becomes more and more apparent that the only resolution is likely going to be killing both the green lady and Maegos. He considered the repercussions of doing so.
Barratore stays right where he is, they had some time still. He muses on the fact that she is simply an avatar. He then considers the nature of love and hate, just like those couples that marry and divorce every few years. "Her flowers bind her and sustain her to this place as does the armor for Maegos. To give either the other is to declare a winner of a war of pain we are ill equipped to fathom or declare victors in. For the good of our realm, I say we remove the flowers and armor from these places to be held securely away from them both."
Lanliss let the others speak but keeps an eye on the surroundings as he is unsure about what might jump on them. He goes closer and asks the green lady, "what are the other Aspects or Avatars of Kalesandria?"
They are powerful and potent, and you would be better served by leaving than confronting them. She says no more than that.
Brom listens to the questions asked of the Green Lady. He is in agreement with Barratore
Emrys asks for the flower on the person fo the green woman. She does NOT hand it over. He then asks her, "An aspect ... tell me, which aspect are you? What part of her do you represent? I am an aspect as well. Of the known four, I am the Magus." He then muses about the four known aspects of Emrys.

She looks at the temporarily subdued Kalesandria avatar and shudders. “And yet we were so very lucky in this fight. I don’t think we were affecting her but 1 in 20, and she was able to strike us with impunity. And I don’t think trying to wrestle her with her natural armor and weapons would fare any better. So if we start fighting again, how do we win?”

Inspiration: There is a lot you can do to her short of death. Gag her to stop spellcasting. Tie her hands and legs (but she would balk at fully binding her). Blindfold her. Lay her prone. All gather around and make full attacks. She’ll try to escape, of course, and the control spell may break, but you will have her in a very tight spot while you attack. In addition, look for touch attacks, fire attacks that bypass SR, other attacks that bypass SR. Hope that is inspiring.

And just as things couldn’t get any more tense, Barratore steps a pace back and makes a decision to inflict a coup de grace. However, that is not possible. You can only make that attack against a helpless foe. The rules say: Helpless: A helpless character is paralyzed, held, bound, sleeping, unconscious, or otherwise completely at an opponent's mercy. She is none of these; she is not helpless.

As V talks, he moves around behind the green lady so that Barratore is between V and the woman and she cannot see him. The Wizard then pulls out his immovable rod and shows it to the others while holding up 4 fingers, and hoping they get the idea of using the 4 the group possesses as immovable restraints in some configuration to hold her mostly helpless against the ground or a large rock.

The Control Plants spell is still in effect, but it lets her ignore self-destructive orders. The order to surrender and kneel is clearly a self-destructive order, so she ignores it. Instead, she rises to her feet, and then moves to the nearest tree and climbs it. Her climb skill is high enough (+40, climb speed 40) that she does not need to roll.
Barratore, Brom, and Edson can make AoOs from her rising from prone.
She uses Acrobatics to move 20 ft to a tree and then 20 ft up the tree. (Acrobatics 40) She sets herself with the tree between herself and Tishe, so that her Quickened Cure Serious Wounds cannot be countered (Tishe’ has no line of sight). She cures herself 34 points.

She tries to cast a quickened cure. Both Velarin and Tishe can see her now. I do not see a counter roll from Tishe’, but Velarin’s is fine for the job. The spell fizzles.
She then reaches into her hair, pulls out six thorns, and throws them at our heroes. Her thorns are ranged touch attacks with a range increment of 120 feet. If you are hit, you move at half speed and can’t take 5-foot steps, fly, or use air walk, either naturally or magically, until you or another creature pulls out the thorn as a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity.

The Green Lady does not attack, cast spells, or consume anything, as ordered. However, the order to “stop running” seems to her to be clearly suicidal. She starts running. Lanliss and Barratore gain AoOs. Since she is running, her AC drops to 34.
If her run is successful, she ends her move at Y35 (scroll way down!).

Does the bludgeoning damage get past her DR15? The rules say “Spells, spell-like abilities, and energy attacks (even nonmagical fire) ignore damage reduction.” So the DM rules that it all works. She takes 17 bludgeoning damage and 111 fire damage.

There doesn’t appear to be any treasure on the green lady other than the encased rose. And there is of course all of the fruit in the orchard. The Green Lady seemed to have been heading towards a stand of giant mushroom but she never made it there. What could have been so important that she was dashing over to in such a hurry, one may wonder?

Lanliss is in a shock for a moment from the Wizard's Fire show ! He moves closer to Velarin. After a few moments, he is back, not at shock, he shakes his head and says "That was a spectacular" to Velarin. He then proceeds to move to the direction the Green lady was heading to. He tries to look at the Mushroom from different angles, "Is this Magical ", he asks and points to the mushroom. "Surely she would escape here for a reason" He concludes and taps his foot on the ground. Your instinct assures you something is in there.

The party notices that there appears to be a forest of mushrooms of all shapes and sizes. Some tower 100’ in height, others as small as conventional mushrooms. Barratore starts to head that way, "We are agreed we are collecting all of the them and not giving them to Meagos, but once done here, we go after the armor. Right?"
Upon arrival, Barratore glances about but notices nothing out of the ordinary and knows nothing about the natural world beyond what everyone knows. The fighter does know however, that Emrys will know just about everything as will V and between Brom and Edson nothing is going to escape the groups attention

"The mushrooms it is. Just for everyone's knowledge, I have a sunburst prepared. It's a rather large spell and effects an 80' radius. Anything that doesn't like the light will really not like this spell, but It also tends to cause blindness and damage in those in it's area, so it's best to use prior to going in, or at targets at a distance."
Unless the group wants him to drop a sunburst into the forest, V will follow Barratore in, counting on the large minotaur to keep him from getting attacked.

The party moves deeper into the grove, all the while feeling they are about to face something dangerous. The daylight spell creates light that helps everyone to see forward. The light from the spell slowly becomes more dim as you continue on.

Tishe’ Informs the others what is probably obvious; this murk is magical, and powerful enough to offset the dimming Daylight Spell. When Brom tells the others of a clearing and something awaiting, Tishe’ will nod: the plant-creatures in the mines had magical mushrooms too.

With the group approaching something, Barratore grunts to Emrys, "I think now yes." The fighter can see little, which is annoying, but not untrained for and he keeps his pace until the big thing is mentioned where he holds up.
"V, now might be the time for that Sunburst. Brom and I can move in right behind it and before any of you say anything, no I don't want to wait to see what it is, what it might do or what anything else. I want to drop arcane fire upon it and destroy it as fast as possible." Barratore nods to Brom and glances at V. "Do it" he practically growls.
Barratore readies upon the Sunburst and then will move 40' towards whatever.

V heeds Barratore's request, and launches a sunburst into the clearing ahead, aiming for halfway between the front edge and the thing at the center. "this spell should wipe out and mold, fungus, etc.. as well as undead."
All creatures in the globe are blinded and take 6d6 (22) points of damage. A creature to which sunlight is harmful or unnatural takes double damage. A successful Reflex save negates the blindness and reduces the damage by half. (reflex save 29) An undead creature caught within the globe takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 25d6), (64 damage) or half damage if a Reflex save is successful. In addition, the burst results in the destruction of any undead creature specifically harmed by bright light if it fails its save. The ultraviolet light generated by the spell deals damage to fungi, mold, oozes, and slimes just as if they were undead creatures. Sunburst dispels any darkness spells of lower than 9th level within its area.
