Tishe’ Informs the others what is probably obvious; this murk is magical, and powerful enough to offset the dimming Daylight Spell. When Brom tells the others of a clearing and something awaiting, Tishe’ will nod: the plant-creatures in the mines had magical mushrooms too.

She keeps her attitude, hovering and ready with a Scorching Ray (previously rolled)

With the group approaching something, Barratore grunts to Emrys, "I think now yes." The fighter can see little, which is annoying, but not untrained for and he keeps his pace until the big thing is mentioned where he holds up. "V, now might be the time for that Sunburst. Brom and I can move in right behind it and before any of you say anything, no I don't want to wait to see what it is, what it might do or what anything else. I want to drop arcane fire upon it and destroy it as fast as possible." Barratore nods to Brom and glances at V. "Do it" he practically growls. Barratore readies upon the Sunburst and then will move 40' towards whatever.

Velarin heeds Barratore's request, and launches a sunburst into the clearing ahead, aiming for halfway between the front edge and the thing at the center. "this spell should wipe out and mold, fungus, etc.. as well as undead."

All creatures in the globe are blinded and take 6d6 (22) points of damage. A creature to which sunlight is harmful or unnatural takes double damage. A successful Reflex save negates the blindness and reduces the damage by half. (reflex save 29)
An undead creature caught within the globe takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 25d6), (64 damage) or half damage if a Reflex save is successful. In addition, the burst results in the destruction of any undead creature specifically harmed by bright light if it fails its save.
The ultraviolet light generated by the spell deals damage to fungi, mold, oozes, and slimes just as if they were undead creatures.
Sunburst dispels any darkness spells of lower than 9th level within its area.

"Certainly," says Emrys, hearing Barratore's request -- he makes it happen. Emrys casts Death Ward on Barratore. Duration: 17 minutes.

Edson shields his eyes from the burst of light. He noticed the clearing, but Baratore already called it out. He waits a few seconds before using his ring to go invisible and sneaks off towards the clearing. (Stealth 26) [OOC: Edson, you can use stealth so long as you stay in the mushroom forest. If you enter the clearing, you will not have any cover or concealment, and note that invisibility will not work against blindsense.

The party moves forward. Velarin casts the sunburst. The burst of light destroys the very fine floating pollen and spores that you now realize had caused the dimness in the air.

The burst illuminates a large clearing in the mushroom forest (100 ft radius). You see clearly floating in the center, about 20’ in the air, is a colossal, tentacled bulb, like a tulip bulb or a garlic bulb, only 30 ft in diameter. There are three glowing eyes in the bulb, spaced evenly on all sides. As the bulb floats in the air, four root-like tentacles dangle under. Directly beneath is the only source of color in this area - a deep red crystalline rose.
A Know Nature or Religion DC28 reveals Highlight to display spoiler: {This plant thing is both undead and plant. Expect a spore attack as well as tentacle attacks, as well as a hidden mouth underneath.}
A Know Arcana DC38 reveals Highlight to display spoiler: {This thing could swallow you whole. You have heard a story about something like this with eyes granting wishes.}

You also see eight large mushroom-men spaced evenly around the clearing.
A Know Arcana DC20 reveals Highlight to display spoiler: {These are eight golems. As such, they are immune to almost all spells that are affected by SR.}
A Know Arcana DC30 reveals Highlight to display spoiler: {These things likely have a spore-based breath weapon. Spells that might affect them include transport via plants, control plants, and finger of death.}

The sunburst does not affect the mushroom-men. It does affect the gigantic bulb, who screams in pain when the spell is cast -- a decidedly feminine scream. Her reflex save of 26 is not enough ... she takes 64 damage. Although her eyes are blinded, her other senses, which grant her blindsight, compensate for the loss of vision with no problem.

After the flash of the sunburst fades, a high-pitched but rumbling laugh comes from the bulb-creature. “Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. You think you can defeat me in my realm. You are mistaken. Come -- serve me. All must serve eventually, and only I can offer you immortality in my realm.”

Tishe, you are not in scorching ray range for the Bulb-creature. Do you want to unleash it at a Mushroom-man? If so, which one?

The bulb-plant-thing releases a cloud of spores. It is a cone with a range of 100 ft. By my reckoning, that’s good enough to affect Baratorre, Brom, and Edson. For you three, the burrowing spores deal 74 damage, reflex save DC26 for half.

The eight mushroom men rouse themselves and “activate” -- they will act normally starting next round.

As soon as the Bulb attacks and rouses the Mushroommen, Tishe’ launches her Readied Scorching Ray against the MM at K,10

“Immortality is overrated”, then quips Tishe’ as she also rises further into the air and moves to get a clear shot of Bulby-eyes. Enhancing her weaving, the Spellweaver throws a Stilled Freezing Sphere at Bulbosaur!

She then turns back to the wounded MM and, if still moving, casts a Quickened Scorching Ray to fry it again!

Emrys steps into the clearing and assesses what he looks upon. An eyebrow rises upon realization of what he observes. "It's an Undead Plant ... an abomination to nature!"

Addressing the giant, undead tulip, he shouts, "I warned you! Did you actually think this day wouldn't ever come? Has your long existence taught you nothing?"

Emrys had stated before that the gloves were off. So like his fellow casters, he brings hell down on the unfortunate fiend in the center of the clearing.

(Emrys casts Forbidden Rain on the Giant, Undead, Tulip, Aspect of Kelsandra. Centered on AD29. Range: Long. Area: 60ft radius from AD29, 30ft high, just behind the Aspect. Will Save DC: 10+HD, Undead get a -5 to their roll. Duration: 17 rounds. No Spell Resistance. Each round: Dazed. failure inflicts 1d3 points of Wisdom and Constitution ability score damage, because Woldsblood tugs a soul out of its body.)

A huge rift opens up from above the Aspect to the Shadow Realm and a tumultuous storm of Woldsblood comes pouring down on the area.

V shares some of what he has learned in his many years many years of study with his friends. "This plant thing is both undead and plant. Expect a spore attack as well as tentacle attacks, as well as a hidden mouth underneath. This thing could swallow you whole. "Unless someone has a better plan, here's mine. Tishe' and I lighting up the the garlic bulb. Brom and Barratore start working on the golems, because Tishe' and I can't hurt them. Edson, Lanliss either help Brom and Barratore with the golems and flanking, or turn the bulb into a pin cushion. Emrys, you are the only one with healing....monitor who needs it, and apply as necessary. When not saving the rest of us, destroy something.

V flies 60' straight up, putting him 75' off the ground and then casts a maximized fireball onto the bulbous plant (68 damage, reflex save 27 for 1/2) followed by a quickened regular fireball (47 damage, reflex save 24 for 1/2)

Tishe’ casts a scorching ray at a Mushroom-man and learns that as a construct it is completely immune to that spell. She does not waste another on it. She moves to J14 and casts a freezing sphere at the Plant-Bulb-Undead monster. She has no SR, so please save that hero point. She fails the save and takes 59 damage.

Edson shoots at the green bulb. She is AC37, so the first and last arrows hit. Edson’s +4 bow bypasses her DR10/admantine. She takes 31 damage.

Emrys casts his potent forbidden rain. The green bulb is dazed and takes a point of Wisdom damage. The area of the rain is shown on the map.

Velarin offers info and then blasts out two fireballs. She makes a save and fails a save, taking 91 damage.

Lanliss draws his weapon and waits.

Brom hustles toward the bulb monster. Since part of her is sticking out of the rain, he could attack that part and avoid the Woldsblood ...

Immune! Tishe’ heard Emrys and Velarin, “Thank the Sarr they are well-read!”, she exclaims to herself. And Velarin is correct, there is little she can do to a Golem, “but I can try to slow it down, I can, so the Keepers don’t get too many at once!

Tishe’ rises in the air higher to avoid any lashing vines or spores from the MM, then weaves a Quickened Grease Spell at S,T,10,11 to make the MM fall down!

Then she turns her attention to Dead Bulb Girl, and lashes her with a Sonic Lightning Bolt!

The spore cloud smacks Barratore and elicits a grunt as they burrow in through his armor and magical protection. Barratore is able to avoid the brunt of the attack by quickly getting closer in behind his shield, Reflex 35

The fighter uncharacteristically pauses though, but a Mushroom golem attacks and snaps him back. The sporecloud. normally no threat at all is blessed by Warrd. Barratore is blessed by Imod, a true hero of the lands and pushes the spore affects from himself

V smiles slightly at he and Tishe being able to rain destruction from the air upon the bulb creature. The thought of a squadron of flying wizards raining fireballs upon targets crosses his mind. Wishing to hit the bulb as hard as possible while it's still dazed, he will count on the fighters being able to handle the golems for a bit. "Death from above!" he says to himself as he unleashes another volley.

V throws an empowered fireball, followed by another quickened fireball at the aspect, being careful to keep Brom out of the blast. (66 damage, reflex save 26 for 1/2)( 40 damage, reflex save 24 for 1/2)

Emrys is satisfied with his Woldsblood storm ... and there are no signs of it ending just yet. The longer the Aspect remains dazed in the blood storm, the more her awareness is drained away. The grasp on her reality and resolve is eroding away with each and every drop.

He then turns his attention to the approaching mushroom constructs. He has full confidence is Barratore to quickly dispatch the ones that had already engaged them. He looks to slow or strangle the others as they approach.

(Emrys casts Entangle and centers it on square X11. Range: Long. Area: 40-radius spread, this should get the two from the north. Reflex Save: 23.)

He moves near the spell casters (to G14) and will try to run further to greet whatever it is that he is going to fight (I11 or J11 ).

Tishe’ rises in the air higher to avoid any lashing vines or spores from the MM, then weaves a Quickened Grease Spell at S,T,10,11 to make the MM fall down! It fails the save and falls! Then she turns her attention to Dead Bulb Girl, and lashes her with a Sonic Lightning Bolt! She saves and takes 13 damage.

Edson holds his breath long enough to not be effected by the spores. He rolls away (acrobatics 43 to avoid AOO). He moves to 17 J, helping Barratore and Tishe flank the golem there. He still fires at the bulb, seeing it the best chance. Hits twice, 6 dmg + 3 fire, and 9 dmg + 2 fire. [OOC: How can you move and make a full attack? Let’s use just one of those attacks, for 9 damage.]

Barratore saves through a heroic effort! Then he steps 5' and attacks. His Torc activates for Hasty purposes, and he hacks at the mushroom-man. A few effective blows later, the enemy is defeated -- in several pieces on the ground.

Velarin smiles slightly at he and Tishe being able to rain destruction from the air upon the bulb creature.. "Death from above!" he says to himself as he unleashes an empowered fireball, followed by another quickened fireball at the aspect, being careful to keep Brom out of the blast. She fails both saves and takes 106 damage!

Emrys is satisfied with his Woldsblood storm ... and there are no signs of it ending just yet. He then turns his attention to the approaching mushroom constructs. Lanliss hustles northeast, angling for a better position.

Brom risks the falling Woldsblood. He feels it tug at his soul ... he feels compelled to enter the rain, let it bear him away ... Maybe that is why he swings at the green bulb and fails to hit.

Kelsandra fails to save again. She remains dazed and takes a second point of wisdom damage.

Mushroom-men 1-3 are dead or trapped. Numbers 4-8 get closer to attack. One moves 30 ft and breathes spores on Edson and Barratore. Both please Fort save 19 or take 3 points of Con damage.

Tishe’ carefully gauges the battlefield. The golems seem to be staggered well enough for the Keepers to deal with them if only they can keep Dead Bulb Lady our of the fight. “We need to take Emrys’ weaving at full opportunity to end this undead pattern!”, she calls to Velarin, and pours her whole concentration to do just that!

The Spellweaver takes her time to cast a Maximized, Enlarged Scorching Ray, followed by a Quickened Lightning Bolt! Fiery and electrical lines reach out to touch the Undead Bulb!

Emrys decides they may need a little more help and he calls on a few friends from Culverwood.

(Emrys casts Shambler. Range: Medium. Effect: d4+2 Advanced Shambling Mounds = 6. Duration: 7 Days.)

Suddenly the ground erupts with six giant mounds of tangled and twisted vegetation. The form arms and legs and standing tall at 9 to 10ft high. Emrys directs them to attack the Mushroom Men that have closed in on them. They form an almost defensive wall as they lash out with slam attacks.

(Placement: All 6 Shambling mounds can be no more than 30 feet from each other. I want them in flanking positions behind the Mushroom men that have already engaged the group. ... and provide a defensive line for the approaching Mushroom Men.)

Tishe’ carefully gauges the battlefield. “We need to take Emrys’ weaving at full opportunity to end this undead pattern!”, she calls to Velarin, and pours her whole concentration to do just that! The Spellweaver takes her time to cast a Maximized, Enlarged Scorching Ray, followed by a Quickened Lightning Bolt! Fiery and electrical lines reach out to touch the Undead Bulb! She fails the save and takes 107 hp.

Velarin declares: "Between this fight and the last fight, I'm running out of potent offense, boys and girls. And most everything else as well. And I'm down to my final quicken spell." Velarin throws his last empowered fireball (44 damage, reflex save 26 for 1/2), followed by a quickened magic missile at the aspect (28 damage). SHe saves this time and takes 50 damage.

Edson unleashes 4 arrows; one is almost a perfect shot. The green bulb creature takes another 10 hp damage. HOWEVER, there are two mushroom-men right next to you, and you’ve provoked AoOs from them! They hit ACs 30 and 31 for 19 and 8 damage, total 27, PLUS make two DC19 Fort saves for 2 con damage and 4 con damage.

Emrys creates SIX advanced shamblers! They surround and attack a mushroom-man, destroying it.

As for the gigantic green bulb, she has taken 353 points of damage already. Another 168 pushes her to 521 total. That’s enough to destroy this aspect! She collapses.

A mushroom man attacks Edson with two slams, hitting AC34, a crit threat that fails to confirm, and AC31. Two hits. Edson takes 21 and 17 hp damage, total 38 damage (total total 38+27=65 damage) and has to make ANOTHER two DC19 Fort saves for 3 con damage and 3 con damage.

Three of the closest Shamblers move to flank and attack the Mushroom Man in combat with Barratore. The other three move to greet the Mushroom Man to the south.

At this point, the battle is effectively over. Three golems are disabled, stuck fast, and easily dispatched. A fourth is quickly destroyed by the shamblers, not to mention the party warriors. Edson has been yanked from the precipice of death.

Barratore deactivates his Haste from the clan torc about his neck and checks on Edson. "Move fast enough indeed." Finding him alive he shakes his head a bit at the small human. "It would do my heart a great deal of good if you did not continually test Emrys' ability to catch you."

The creatures defeated, Barratore searches the golems for any hidden treasures while Brom or someone else handles the bulb and getting the flower there. "after this, we still need to secure the other flower from the village back there. Maybe Edson and Lanliss could sneak that one away and we spare a frontal assault."

Lanliss instinctively reaches for a wand he kept for less serious injuries.
He tries to point it at Edson, Trying to feel a magic from the wand and saying some words who to the occasional listener would seem he is trying to cast a healing spell.

If success- Lanliss is happy to know he got to help Edson a little bit and says "So now we just sneak out take the flower and run for our lives as fast as possible"...."especially when that aspect can't get out of this place"
If fails- Lanliss frowns as the magic thing he bought didn't work and says "Edson needs help" after a moment or two he asks rhetorically "So the only safe option is to steal and run for our lives?"

After everyone has had a chance to catch their breath, the Woldsblood rain storm ends (14 rounds later, about a minute and a half).

Emrys explains, "The Woldsblood will instantly evaporate and returns to the Shadow Realm. The area should be safe to walk through."

He helps Edson up off the ground and scrutinizes his condition. "You can use a little healing." Emrys gives a short sniff of the air around Edson. He mutters, "Hmmh, already giving the scent of a shambler. It's nothing to worry about." Emrys then casts a Cure spell on his friend.

(Emrys is casting Cure Moderate Wounds on Edson, empowered by Spiritual Healing. Cures 2d12+10: 12+8+10 = 30 points of healing. This should heal Edson to max.)

Emrys then turns to Barratore and does the same.

(Emrys casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Barratore. Cures 2d12+10: 3+2+10 = 15 points.)

"That spell casting was substandard ... allow me to touch it up with another."

HACK HACK HACK ... an hour later, you “unearth” both the red crystalline rose and three billiard-ball size spheres that were the creature’s eyes.

Gods the smell and mess. "I had no idea it would be so...juicy" Barratore spits a mouthful of goo and snorts a blast to free up his nostrils. Eventually the work is done, the effort rewarded with the 3 spheres and the rose crystal. Barratore thanks Tishe for the clean up, but still feels slimy, like a ghost feeling remembered of something no longer there.

"The crystaline roses appear to have been magically created from a massive gemstone. It would be interesting to know where that jewel might be. These orbs are quite interesting as well. I believe they might be Onyx, which I'm trying to determine. Onyx is often used in Necromancy for the creation of undead. Onyx is placed within the eye sockets as a material component. Let me see if this is what they are."

The party travels away from the mushroom glade, past the magical orchard, and comes to the two villages, close side-by-side. The clear crystal flower, in its clear case, is between the two villages. The two kinds of plant people see you, and a couple nod or wave. You are a few hundred feet from the rose.

And then she sets to work. “A Spellweaver isn’t as powerful as a wizard or witch; no Meteor Swarms or Forbidden Rain within my arsenal, but I Can manipulate the magic that I do have easier. And like a sorcerer, I can cast many of the same Spell if needed without a day of studying.”

With this consensus, the party flies to the space between the two villages. Directly below is a clear box, with a crystalline flower within. It sits on a pedastal the foot of which is sunk into the earth.

As you approach and scout, you see that villagers on both sides are gathering, curious. A couple call up greetings and ask what you are doing. On one side are huge pod creatures; on the other, large vine creatures.

Tishe’ takes an assessment of the situation. The viney and pod creatures are gathering... how close are they to the Crystal Rose? How fast did they move? (Perception 38)

The intent of the plan is to swoop up and down going 120’ every 6 seconds, supposedly much faster than any of the villagers can get to the Rose. The Keepers definitely DONT want to fly high or hover or make a scene before the theft: that defeats the purpose! If they have already gathered or can move fast enough, the smash-and-grab is defeated before the Keepers even start.

(Sorry, forgot to post yesterday)

Before they all take to flight, he will make sure Daemon isn't forgotten about. He casts Wind Walk on his reptilian spirit guide. He tells him to stay in mist form and follow along with the group. "Keep an eye open for danger and let me know about it," he says mentally. Daemon answers back, "CCertainly."

Emrys moves with the group ... he walks when they walk ... he flies where they fly. He keeps his eyes and ears alert for those little surprises that always pop up out of no where.

The party hovers over the glass box. The nearest villager is 60 ft away, another two are 100 ft, another two are 150 ft way ... likely one or two will arrive on site every round starting next round unless you act now to stop them.

Brom attacks the glass to break it. It has AC0, so the hit is inevitable. However, the glass has Hardness 30 and is immune to admantine. So I need a damage roll to see if it is yet broken.

Is anyone else acting? I seem to recall a wall of force plan to use if the villagers got closer. If you want to use it, now might be the time.

"Cmon" he mutters to himself. Nothing ever seemed to go perfect, atleast they were capable of adapting. He looked over at the plant creatures noticing more were about to arive. This was gonna get bad. He turned his attention back to the flower, ready to snatch and fly.

Tishe’ keeps watch and ignores the calls of the Veggie-Villagers: she is a horrible bluffer and would only rile them up (is what she tells herself). The Spellweaver considers the situation. Her wall is 40’ south of the Cube. Velarin did his opposite so it is 40’ north of the cube. Emrys did his to close one of the gaps in-between, so that is 20’ high and closing the west side between the Ice and Force just 40’ to the West of the Cube. (80’ feet separate the Wall of Ice and Wall of Force)

That leaves one 80’ gap to the East of the Cube that is still open. “I’ve got the gap”, she calls, and casts another Wall of Ice, 80’ long and 20’ high.

The ‘Snatchers’ are now surrounded by magical walls, all 40’ away from the Cube they are trying to break, and all 20’ high (except for the south side which is 15’ high).

“By the plan!” , she calls. “Quickly!”

Emrys is flying along (at 60ft, like the rest), Daemon is Wind Walking in mist form (he can travel as fast as 60mph) but maintains a short lead, not getting too far ahead of his master.

He sees the pod creatures between them in the exit. The wall summoned by Tishe would be most effective, but he decides impede their movement as well. He decides to invoke a Miracle ... a powerful gift in which he can choose from all sorts of powerful effects. However he decides not to abuse such a gift with an overly powerful request when a simple effect would be sufficient.

(Emrys casts Miracle to duplicate an Entangle spell empowered with the potency of a 9th level spell. Range: Long. Area: 40' radius spread (80ft diameter spread) in the area of the pod creatures. Save: Reflex 32. Duration: 17 minutes. Area is now difficult terrain.)

You burst out into the dark antechamber. The door slams shut and you have escaped the realm of the undead-plant-things.

Black in the black, Barratore can now access his Haversack and produces his Everburning torch, even though he knows a great deal more magical light is surely about to be created.
"1 down, 1 to go. V. Lets get that sweet mansion of yours up and plan out our assault."

Assuming the magical mansion is shortly created, Barratore enters, gets a bath and finds the grand dining room for some food and drink.

When the others gather to join him, Barratore lays out what he sees as what is coming
"Fire protection, a bit more fire protection and a heap of fire protection. I don't think things will be drastically different upon entering. Which means we won't need all of that Fire protection until after the first battle with the anti magic golems and the girl. And as they destroy active spells, we should probably not have too much going on in the first place. At least us front liners. Though her blade conducted negative energy, so Brom and I should have Deathward going in. After her, we hit those swarms, so some nice non fire based area spells would be great. Then we have the elementals and the lava falls. Need some walls or shaping of stone to give us a tunnel and then it will be Meagos and the other golems
