DM Rob - "Ok... lead the way! Short ones stay in the center!"
Thursday July 30th, 2015 9:58:04 PM

There was certainly time for Zeoll to bore, er, I mean educate others on the tales of the Fey King. For instance, did you know that is was Eberyon and the Jericko who created the Wold and its creatures?

Jozhur asks Crenshaw to deliver a message to the Harbormaster and to the Lionfish. "I will see to it personally. You have my word" the Eye answers with a bow. He gives a knowing smile "If Reynolds doesn't want the whole congregation against him, I'm sure he'll grant your ship a long stay". This should hopefully be enough to satisfy Zeoll as well.

Ecth makes no attempt to stop Rillet's probe. Indeed, the Soul Seeker sees the man as kind of heart. Yet there is also conflict. He is very aware of his heritage and is seeking to prove himself.. different?

On a call from his master, Murph the Mephit makes himself known. If there is one thing every party needs, it's a talkative familiar.

Rillet checks over his scroll stocks, and is happy that he had the time to prepare a Breath of Life scroll. He can only hope there will be no need to use it. Still, best to be prepared for anything.

Unfortunately noone is prepared for a linotaur with a sore back. There is nothing Aex can prescribe that will ease the pain Zeoll currently feels along his considerable back

As the party prepare to depart, Crenshaw says a blessing to see you on your way "Gargul, their hearts are pure. Guide their hands, that they may strike true. Guide their heads, that they may act with your wisdom. Guide their hearts, that they may show compassion. And guide their feet, that they may return safely."

With that done, Magana leads the charge into the swirling mass. She is followed by Hash, Jozhur, Terser, Rillet, Aex, Ecth, Murph, and finally Zeoll

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stepping into the swirling waters triggers an instantaneous journey. There are no flashing lights or sense of time passing. No sooner than you have eached touch the waters you appear elsewhere.

It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust. Surrounding you is such bright light. Vibrant yellows, glowing ambers and deep reds. Silently moving and twirling, it is clear that you are witnessing pure flame and lava. Fortunately it is being magically kept at bay, perhaps by some immensely powerful Wall of Force. The area is completely silent. it's very peaceful and almost hypnotic.

Whatever magic that holds it at bay does a fair job at suppressing the heat. But it is still very hot here. Those wearing armor can already feel it start to warm to the touch.

In good news, the heat does ease some of the tension in Zeoll's spine

At your feet, the 'rock' is very smooth. Those of you with some knowledge of nature deduce it to be cooled, hardened lava. From the platform the party stand on, it weaves and curves away from you ... north?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hot Environment Rules

Heat deals nonlethal damage that cannot be recovered from until the character gets cooled off (reaches shade, survives until nightfall, gets doused in water, is targeted by endure elements, and so forth). Once a character has taken an amount of nonlethal damage equal to her total hit points, any further damage from a hot environment is lethal damage.

A character in very hot conditions must make a Fortitude saving throw each hour (DC 15, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d4 points of nonlethal damage. Characters wearing heavy clothing or armor of any sort take a --4 penalty on their saves. Characters reduced to unconsciousness begin taking lethal damage (1d4 points per hour).

A character who takes any nonlethal damage from heat exposure now suffers from heatstroke and is fatigued. These penalties end when the character recovers from the nonlethal damage she took from the heat.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC24 / 17 no shield - HP 55)  d20+7=17 ; d20+25=40 ; d20+25=31 ; d20+25=30 ;
Thursday July 30th, 2015 10:35:06 PM

Zeoll sighs. It looks like this adventure is taking him far indeed from the ocean biome in which he feels most at home. In fact, this rather looks to the liontaur like the elemental plane of fire. He looks for clues that might confirm his suspicion.

Know Planes 17. And he laments the fact that he knows Terran, Auran, and Aquan, but not Ignan.

He starts to feel hot, so he casts Create Water, dumping a few gallons on himself. He does the same for his friends, if they do not object. He repeats as needed.

Last in line, Zeoll looks behind him. Does the path extend in that direction as well? Is there a portal or sign of one?

How wide is this path?

He looks around keenly, after casting the cantrip created by his old friend, Toros, to boost his vision in the minotaur way.

Perception checks 40, 31, 30.

It looks like our direction is clear. We'll follow the yellow flame road." Rillett watches to see if the gnome and the mephit break out into song.

Rillett will keep an eye on folks for signs of heatstroke. He will proceed down this corridor of fire with the others.

Hashamon, Tauren Druid HP 68/82 - AC 15

"Today is a bad day to have fur."

Hash gives a sideways glance to Magana and Zeoll, then chuckles.

"Or a bad day to not have a way to get rid of it, bwa ha ha!"

And with that, Hashamon shifts. His fur grows dark red, then begins to waver and billow, covered in flames that seem alive. His form is still large sized, but only vaguely holds any real shape. If anything, he seems to be a large flaming bull. A red bull, if you will. Or perhaps, The Red Bull.

(Planes: 32) "Assuming we are on the Plane of Fire, I can speak Ignan... although hopefully we won't be running into any of the locals." Wiping the sweat from his brow, the dark elf pull his hood down, revealing long white hair pulled back into a ponytail. He places a pair of Smoked Goggles over his eyes from where they rested around his neck before looking around at the swirling lava.

"Yeesh, you know I'm a dust mephit, right? Not lava, or fire?" The small creature sticks as close to Ecthelion's ankles as possible. The drow himself casts Mage Armor on himself.

DM Rob - "Today is a bad day to have fur"  d4=3 ;
Monday August 3rd, 2015 6:29:00 AM

Everyone receives 2000xp for completing the first scene of this module!

A lava, fiery environment? This certainly isn't what most of the party were expecting.

Zeoll looks about. The party are at the start (or end?) of the path. Standing on the edge, fire/lava completely surrounds you. The path is precisely 14 feet wide at every point, and the magical barrier curves around from edge to edge - like being in a perfectly curved tunnel (10ft high).

Rillet and Zeoll surmise that the party may have been teleported to the Elemental Plane of Fire.
Ecth's knowledge on such things is much greater however. Inside this magically protected environment he believes there is insufficient evidence to definitively make the call. The air and gravity both seem 'normal', and who knows how fast time could be passing for the party. The Elemental Plane of Fire is but one possibility. The centre of the Wold, or a magical lair on Thermo (the sun around which the Wold orbits) are also possibilities to Ecth. Perhaps this is a plane or space created by Eberyon, or another power of the elements?

Heat is the number one concern for the group. Zeoll begins magically dumping gallons of fresh water over the party. The drops that hit the ground sizzle and fizz, before quickly turning to steam. Any puddles of water formed will likely evaporate in but a few minutes.

Magana takes the same approach as Zeoll, creating gallons of water to cool herself down. Sure it may have been hot before, but now it's hot and smells like two wet taurs!

Aex is well prepared for this heat, and casts Endure Elements on Jozhur and Terser. Where's a witch with the endure elements cantrip when you need one? Still, some protection is better than none.

Hash has a solution in mind, and transforms into a fire elemental. He immediately feels better for it too. His fiery form almost blends him in with the surrounds.

Rillet enquires as to Murph's health. How will a dust mephit cope with the heat? Ecth seems happy that his companion will survive.

Jozhur just wants to get a move on, and with Magana and Rillet in tow, he leads the procession forward.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The party walk the stony path, being careful not to touch the magical walls. Who knows? Perhaps they are scalding hot? Perhaps they are cool? Perhaps touching them will cause them to collapse and cover the party in lava? Caution seems to be the order of the day.

The path twists and turns yet remains a constant 14ft across. Best guess is that you have walked for a mile before seeing anything different to fire and lava. (Everyone (except Jozhur, Terser and Hash) to make a Fort Save vs DC15 or take 3pts non-lethal damage. If you have the Endurance feat you may add +4 to your save)

The passageway eventually leads to what looks like a cave in the side of a mountain. The fiery outsides are held at bay, and what looks like a very normal cave continues on ahead.

Cue dramatic music. Marching order please :)

Rillett (Bradley) HP 78/78 - AC 22/12/20 CMD 19  d20+13=33 ; d8+1=9 ; d8+1=2 ; d8+1=9 ; d8+1=4 ;

Rillett will cast See Invisibility as we approach. If it is dark, He will pull out a Continual Flame ring on a chain worn around his neck.

Getting doused in water will cool everyone off, and allow any non-lethal damage to be healed.

Rillett will work with Zeoll to make sure everyone is doused in water on the way. We will not douse Hashamon in his present form, nor Terser or Jozhur if they do not wish it. He will look to see if anyone fails their save before we enter the cave. If anyone looks like they're suffering from non-lethal damage, Rillett will use/share his CLW Wand to make sure it is healed so they are not fatigued.

Only once all non-lethal damage is removed should we then proceed into this cave.

As the group walks down the path, Ecthelion casts Detect Magic and focuses on the walls holding back the lava flows. Is it simply a Wall of Force, or something more powerful? (Spellcraft: 36) "Perhaps... this is not the Plane of Fire," he mutters, perhaps just to himself or Murph. "An artifact this powerful would warrant its own plane for protection, depending on who or what hid it."

The drow barely manages to withstand the heat, wiping sweat from his brow every few seconds. (Fort: 15) As they approach the cave, he halts towards the back of the group with Murph right behind him. "Whomever or whatever created this place wanted us to find this cave. Either we will find the guardians of this Stone... or our enemies have already beaten us here and lie in wait for us. We need to be very careful here."

Terser is very thankful for the reprieve from the heat.

He agrees with Ecthelion, though. That's an awful lot of rock up ahead for the Plane of Fire. Not that he knows anything about such things. Still, he's ready for anything, and marches confidently at the fore of the group with Magana, glaive at the ready to respond to a threat if necessary.

DM Rob - "We need to be very careful here"
Tuesday August 4th, 2015 12:53:08 AM

One quick headslap later, and Aex realises that she should change into a fire elemental herself and get some relief from the heat. But .. could the whole thing be an illusion? Despite careful inspection of everything, Aex remains convinced that unfortunately this situation is entirely real (I'd also count being exposed to the heat as a form of interaction were this an illusion)

The party form up, with fire elemental Hash taking the lead, and big, bad Zeoll at the rear.

Agreed marching order:
Hashamon
Magana, Terser
5'
Rillett, Aex, Jozhur
5'
Murph, Ecth
Zeoll

Rillet is ready to cure anyone of non-lethal heat damage, however, the entire party looks to be coping surprisingly well in the environment.

Ecth casts Detect Magic and focuses on the walls. Could they simply be a Wall of Force spell? Well, a Wall of Force would have a moderate aura of evocation power. What Ecth sees can only be described as an overwhelming aura!

Jozhur counts his lucky stars that Aex blessed him with the Endure Elements spell. Whilst the others perspire with the heat, he remains fresh as a ... Well, I'm actually not sure how fresh Jozhur usually is. But he isn't sweating too much.

The party enter the rocky cave.

Hash casts a protective spell, and then inspects the rocky walls. The walls themselves are perfectly smooth - as if someone has taken incredible care when digging (or more likely, cast a powerful spell) - and have patches of obsidian interspered with dark grey rock. The rocky walls do radiate a strong heat, however. It would be a fair assumption that there is some form of lava on the other side. But how thick the walls are is anyone's guess.

There is little light in the tunnel, so Magana casts light on her flail. With Aex and Hash also in fiery elemental forms, the party have enough light to guide them.

The cave goes in a perfectly straight line, albeit in a slight decline. It takes close to five minutes of walking before the party can see the end of the end.

The cave opens up into quite a large room - some 100ft long and 85ft across though only 10ft high. Light seems to emanate from all around the room, such that noone casts a shadow. The heat isn't as strong, but the room is still quite warm.

Intricate carvings line all sides of the room, and strange runes can be seen carved all about the polished, stone tiled floor. 16 of the runes are recognisable as High Woldian (and your DMs trust you will keep player and PC knowledge separate)

At the opposite end of the room can be seen a huge archway blocked by a set of large stone doors. Etched in the archway glowing blue runes can be seen, but not quite read from this distance.

--------------------------------------------
Cayzle asks: What would the save and nonlethal damage have been without the water-dousing? That is, is there a reason to bother?

DM Rob: In my mind, creating water in this environment would do little for the temperature, and would turn it into something akin to a sauna or steam-room. Likely delaying the need for saves, but not removing them entirely. That said: "Heat deals nonlethal damage that cannot be recovered from until the character gets cooled off (reaches shade, survives until nightfall, gets doused in water, is targeted by endure elements, and so forth)." So dousing someone with water who has taken nonlethal damage would cool them off and allow the non-lethal damage to heal.

Unless someone else can cast Comprehend Languages or knows the meaning of these runes, please use this to figure out what this all means."

This may just be some intricate trap!" He points at the large doors at the other side. "We haven't even tried those doors yet."

He accepts the scroll begrudgingly, looking over the sigils he can see and searching back into his mind to see if he knows anything about them before he uses the magic scroll. (Linguistics: 29) "Wait a moment..."

DM Rob - "This may just be some intricate trap!"
Wednesday August 5th, 2015 12:05:45 AM

Terser takes one step at a time, slowly edging forward. Oh to be on a tropical beach right about now! The carvings on the stone walls are amazingly intricate. It would take a master stonemason many years to create such a masterpiece. The carvings don't depict any scene in particular. Just delicate swirls, amazing spirals, three dimensional shapes, a mass of floral patterns, etc. Patterns along both sides and the entire length of the 100ft long room. These walls would be pride of place in the halls of a dwarven king.

Aex and Hash says some things to each other in Ignan. To those that don't understand the language, it sounds like a lot of sparks, fizzles and pops.

Aex decides that she is not going to enter this room. She had rushed into things before, and gotten ... burned?

Ecth looks casually about the runes on the floor, before pointing to one he feels pretty sure he knows. Tile #16. That's the High Woldian symbol for 'Ffloy', isn't it? No, it's missing the circle surrounding it. He surmises that it must just mean 'trade' (Please see note below on linguistics checks. I've rolled secretly for you. Also, since you wanted to ID Tile #16 I had to move you into a position to be able to actually see it)

Zeoll's brain hurts. What it must be like to travel with this taur? First his back, then his head. He has a fair idea that Tile #8 has something to do with a hunt. The room has a faint conjuration aura to it, likely a result of the lighting. (Please see note below on linguistics checks. I've rolled secretly for you)

Jozhur sees Hash move forward, and rushes to cut the shifter off. This rogue has an uncanny knack for finding traps, though try as he might, he doesn't spot any obvious mechanisms. As for the door though, well, now that he is closer Jozhur can easily make out the magical blue runes. The difficulty in reading them from a distance is now obvious - they are constantly changing. Though the runes are changing in an ever repeating pattern, Jozhur recognises the message. It is the same message, but just being translated into a different language of the Wold each time. Knowing 7 languages, he is quite confident in this. The message? "Only in the footsteps of the Gods will good prevail"

The doors themselves are some 13ft wide and solid stone. There are no visible hinges or handles. Just two solid slabs of rock. They could likely be broken down with brute force if someone had the will or the time.

Fire Elemental Hash tries touching one of the tiles (Tile #7) or headbutting it to be more precise. The tile remains unscathed. No singe marks, no discolouring. Nothing.

Magana sees the tiles as nothing more than decoration to this room. If they mean any more than that, it is over her head. She starts trekking around the walls of the room, examining the intricate wall carvings up close.

Rillet - despite being very wise - has no head for puzzles. Perhaps there is wisdom in knowing that you know not? He passes a scroll of Comprehend Languages to Ecth, and bids him to use it. Just in case though, he casts protection from evil on himself.

Ecth is able to read the scroll with ease. Now, to put to it to use. Which tile will Ecth inspect first?

ooc :: Is it too bright for Ecthelion to take his Smoked Goggles off?

DM Rob - "The footsteps of the Gods..."
Thursday August 6th, 2015 3:25:00 AM

Jozhur scratches his head. None of the symbols near him make any sense. That's what you get for not paying attention during class. Zeoll, too, is having trouble working out what the symbols mean. Of course, with a throbbing head and back he is naturally a little distracted.

Rillet looks over the symbols near where he stands. Zeoll believed tile 8 to be 'hunt'. Rillet though is sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that the correct interpretation of the symbol is actually 'Hunting'.

Terser tried to pay attention in church. Or was it school? Both involved him sitting down a lot. Either way, he is pretty sure that he has seen the symbol on tile #10 before. Sam had it in a book at some stage. What was it again? Ah, that's right. 'Luck'.

With the Comprehend Languages scroll now utilised, Ecth is able to make out 3 tiles: 15, 12 & 16. (OOC: To keep the pace going, I'm ruling that you can ID any symbol within 30ft of you with Comprehend Languages). The light isn't too bright here, certainly not sunlight, so he believes it would be safe to remove his goggles.

Aex has a deep think about the puzzle. The written word has never been a strong point for the gnome. With the Comprehend Languages spell in effect, Ecth can happily translate things for her though.

Hash has a closer look at the tiles. He can't see any magic in effect on them. Then there's the question - has anything else been living here? He looks about quite carefully and notices something missing. There is no dust in the room, short of what the party brought in with them. The room is as clean as it would have been when first constructed. It could have been here for a day, or a thousand days. The room is spotless.

Magana stays on the outskirts. Things were so much easier back on the Isles. You see something you want to kill, and you swing your flail at it. None of this runes and puzzles business.

The party have identified the meaning behind 5 of the 16 tiles. That said, the doors at the other end of the room remain closed.

Terser starts looking for Lord Gargul's symbol, being reasonably familiar with it by now. What with traveling with two of his clerics and seeing it splashed all over his great temple in Rum.

What if they are not to follow the path the Gods themselves followed but the path each of the eight, enlisted as tool of the Gods, are following to reach out to the Gods?! DM Rob - "Let's figure this out and get the heck outta here"
Friday August 7th, 2015 12:58:08 AM

Terser tries a different approach. Out of all of these symbols, surely at least one must be dedicated to Lord Gargul. Curiously, even looking specifically for the High Woldian symbol he knows to be Gargul's (an open eye surrounded by a circle) he cannot see it anywhere.

Hash points out his keen observation over the lack of any dust in the room. Either there is a very dedicated house keeper, or perhaps it gets a periodical clean from some unseen servant?

Zeoll moves about, having seen a symbol that looks like a sleeping eye. Upon closer inspection however, he recalls that the closed eye is not the symbol for sleep, but 'Death'! Hmm... not sure that is what he was looking for.

Ecth advances into the room, and from his vantage spot, can clearly make out a number of tiles. Together he and Rillet begin documenting the runes, their positions and meanings. You never know what might come in handy later on.

Rillet may not know what the runes mean, but he can easily copy them down with a .. what did he call it? A 'pen'? Must be some new-fangled quill from Aisildur.

Aex moves into the room now, returning to her true gnome-ish form. She scratches her head. What could this test possibly mean? Must each person present 'choose' a tile that they value? Would that mean this test was intentionally created for the party?

The party have now managed to successfully identify 11 of the 16 runes. Save for Hash head-butting one of the runes, noone else has dared do anything to the tiles except look at them.

Ecthelion continues his steady pace toward E13, stopping only for a moment to consider a thought that pops into his head. It seems the tiles are not pressure plates, judging by Hashamon's attempt to bash into it with his skull, so perhaps... "Perhaps there is a path. Beginning on a tile near the entrance and continuing through every tile that represents a God of the Wold." The drow stops in his path, peering around at the tiles nearby. "Only in the footsteps of the Gods, as it were. Just a thought."

Rillett thinks for a moment and says, "Speaking of the other gods, we were warned that Biloopl's followers are also seeking this stone. Let's be careful that in solving this riddle we don't unwittingly give them access they could not have achieved on their own.

"Hash, do you smell any creatures here aside from us? Terser, are all these stone walls the same? Zeoll and Ecth, is there some magic here we may have missed? I'd hate to think they're somehow here with us now, either invisibly or behind a created or illusionary wall. Perhaps even part of the floor.

DM Rob - "Let's figure this out and get the heck outta here"
Monday August 10th, 2015 12:49:53 AM

Magana keeps up her patrol along the walls. Having a wall to her side means threats can only come from the other direction. Precisely what threats remain to be seen however.

Jozhur strolls closer to one of the tiles, evidently deep in thought. Tile 7 - "Giving".

Rillet is the first to observe that each of the tiles represents a domain held by the Gods and Powers of the Wold. But as he puts it - "how is that information useful?"

Terser heads towards the rune in the north-west corner. What the run might be escapes him. Where's Sam when you need him?

Hash has a close look at the "Fey" tile. He can't see a way for the tile to be picked up, as such, however it does have the faintest of grooves running around the edge of the tile.

Ecth points out the runes that he can see around him: "Charm", "Darkness", and "Evil". He offers the suggestion that perhaps there is a path made by the tiles, and by stepping on the correct ones "something" will happen. Hash tried to bash one with his skull and nothing happened. Perhaps they aren't pressure sensitive after all?

Zeoll identifies the final rune as "Domination"

Aex proposes that the first step should be in identifying the runes, and then try and figure out the reason for them. If this is a test to see who is worthy - worthy according to who, exactly? She ponders whether each of the runes could be tied to each of the Gods.

Rillet starts to get .. concerned. Not paranoid. Just concerned. Are other creatures around? Have they already passed this way? Are there any illusions or invisible creatures or monsters that go bump in the night?

Tiles
01 - Charm
02 - Darkness
03 - Death
04 - Domination
05 - Evil
06 - Fey
07 - Giving
08 - Hunting
09 - Law
10 - Luck
11 - Madness
12 - Magic
13 - Nobility
14 - Repose

With the tiles all identified, the question is - now what?

Zeoll ponders the words magically written on the wall.

He wonders if that means the party should step on the symbols corresponding to "good" gods. But that is a tough call -- the gods do not have alignments, per se.

He sees Rillet stand on the symbol of his own god. That seems like a good choice. Taking the place of your own god seems wise. But Hash and he share a reverence for the king and queen of the fey, and he is not sure how the two of them could even crowd together on the relatively small tile.

Not to mention Zeoll has no desire to smell his own fur burning!

He describes his trepidations to his friends, and wonders what to do.

DM Rob - "Let's figure this out and get the heck outta here"
Tuesday August 11th, 2015 5:54:17 AM

Hash pays homage to the fey king and queen, lowering his head to the 'Fey' tile.

Ecth just stares at the paper upon which he has written all the runes. He is convinced that each symbol represents a clerical domain for the various Gods and powers of the Wold.

Rillet moves over to the tile with the 'Repose' rune on it. He tries pushing, pulling, sliding, hitting, and any other way he can think of to try and move it. Yet it remains firmly in place. Not knowing what else to do, he takes a bold step and stands atop it. Nothing happens for a second or two, but then... the tile slowly lowers 3 inches into the floor and then stops with a satisfying 'click'.

Terser follows Rillet's lead, and stands atop the tile with the 'Strength' rune on it. Again, nothing happens for a second or two, but then the tile slowly lowers into the floor, and again, it stops with a satisfying 'click'.

Zeoll has a real good think about this (Highlight to display spoiler: {Though their power is great, Zeoll realises that neither Eberyon nor Maab are technically considered 'Gods'. And since he can't see any sort of divination auras, it's unlikely that the tiles would be specific for the person who stood atop them. Terser and Rillet each safely stepped on two tiles. Presumably something 'bad' would happen if they made a poor choice. How many more could there be? Back to basics. Hmm... who are the Gods of the Wold?}

Jozhur watches to see if anything happens now that two of the tiles have been stepped on. The light in the room remains constant, and nothing leaps out to attack the party. Huh. Nothing bad happened. Were the 'correct' tiles stepped on, or are they just red-herrings, meant to detract from the real puzzle?

Aex enquires as to whether all the Gods are represented by just one tile? An interesting notion. Gargul is represented just by Repose. Domi just by Strength. Alemi just by Nobility. Hmmm.... but Marteus is represented by Death. And Evil. And Magic.

Zeoll bravely suggests that his friends stand on the tiles, whilst he stands nice and safe elsewhere. Out of respect to Maab, of course.

Magana has no better idea, so does as the linotaur instructs. As does the rest of the party. Aex, Terser, Rillet, Ecth, and Jozhur do as instructed. Each step on the tile indicated by Zeoll. In each case there is a slight pause before the tile sinks slowly into the floor.

When the sixth tile has been stepped on the 'click' is noticeably louder. The stone doors ahead slowly open. With the sound of rock grinding on rock, they slide apart.

Pinpoints of red light can be seen ahead in the darkness, as 8 skeletons emerge. Their bones are black and small points of red fire glow in their hollowed eye sockets. Each skeleton carries two swords, and they march forward with precision.

Could these be Billoopl's minions?

Could these be Billoopl's minions?

Zeoll asks himself that question as he sees the "undead."

Then he wonders why he would jump to that conclusion. These "skeletons" are seemingly made from some black stone. They could be golems or animatrons of some sort. And they have not attacked. They also do not seem water themed.

He uses his senses and lore to see if he can determine if these are truly undead or not. "What arre these things?" he calls out. "Frriend orr foe? Undead orr otherr?"

Perception 26, Know Arcana 5 and Know Religion 17 (both untrained).

To play it safe, he casts a summons rather than an attack. He casts Summon Fey Friend II over a prepared Hold Person spell. He suspects he will not be meeting any enemy "persons" here. Wherever "here" is.

As he casts, he wonders if it will work on the Plane of Fire, or wherever the heck the party is now.

Zeoll isn't yet sure whether to go offensive, defensive, or 'other'. He's not quite sure what these things are, but he's pretty sure they're undead of some kind (Untrained Knowl checks can't hit over a DC10). He begins summoning some fey assistance.

Hash doesn't want to take any chances. He's not going to rush over and knock them down just yet, but bolster his strength in anticipation of a fight. He also ensures that none will get past him to attack the casters at the rear

Terser moves forward to engage the skeletons. Gargul would not create these things. He would however direct the party to destroy them, however.

Rillett moves off his tile and goes to get a better view of the skeletons. With his Deathwatch spell, he can see clear as day they raidate as "undead". Uh-oh...

Ecth steps backwards and begins summoning some outside help. All the while, he wonders why Gargul would send the party to a place inhabited by undead. Perhaps it is his will they be destroyed?

Magana moves forward ready to send these abominations wherever undead go to die. Puzzle time is over. Now it's time to thump something!

Jozhur backsteps, ready to attack whatever gets close to him but not ready to make the first strike.

Aex holds still. She isn't sure what will happen if she, or anyone else, steps off the designated tiles.

And it is Aex who notices first, that as each person stepped off their tile, that it rose back into place. Secondly, the fiery red pinpoints of light in the skeleton skulls changes to glow a bright blue. They attack!

S1 moves headlong at Magana. Though her flail strikes true, the weapon practically bounces off the skeletons bones. The skeleton wields two shortswords bathed in flames, and it strikes with accuracy (Hit AC31. Magana takes 14pts damage + 3pts fire damage)

S2 moves to attack Magana as well, but the Protection From Evil spell wards her JUST enough that the frosty shortsword misses its mark (Hit AC21=Miss!)

S3 moves to attack Hash. The skeleton is stopped from moving any further by Hash's attack, and does not catch fire. It attacks with a shortsword covered in electricity!(Ref Save vs DC17: 20 = Pass. Hit AC38. Crit confirmed with AC25. Hash takes 25pts damage + 4 pts Electric damage + 2pts Str Drain!)

S4 approaches to attack Rillett. Jozhur strikes out, but misses. The skeleton does not. There is a flash of disruptive energy as the shortsword strikes (Hit AC34. Rillet takes 23pts damage!)

S5 likewise goes to attack the party cleric. The translucent shortsword barely misses! (Hit AC23=Miss!)

S6 also goes to attack Rillet. Terser gets first strike at the skeleton as it moves, but his attack misses. It may have distracted the skeleton enough, however, as it too misses its target! (Hit AC19=Miss!)

S7 goes to attack Terser. The dwarf gets the first attack, however, and strikes hard. But despite his attack, he can't see any discernable damage done to the skeleton. The shortsword of the skeleton barely hits the dwarf, but the cut is made (Hit AC22. Terser takes 9pts damage!)

S8 moves closer, but does not attack. It's weapons are raised and ready however.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC24 HP 55)  d10=6 ; d20+9=19 ;
Thursday August 13th, 2015 8:18:53 AM

Finishing his Fey Friend II spell, Zeoll discovers that he has called a ... d10=6 ... a sea hag! The hag is three alignment steps away, so it will only stay for four rounds, and it will require special care so as not to betray Zeoll and his friends.

But first, the hag betrays them simply by her HIDEOUS FACE! ALL creatures vulnerable to mind-affecting magic -- that is, all the good guys and none of the bad guys -- must make a DC14 Fort save or take 1d6 STRENGTH damage!!!!!

[OOC: Really sorry, guys!]

Zeoll calls out to the monster he has summoned, "Lady Hag, I apologize forr botherring you. Please now use yourr fierrce claws to attack the undead skeletons with black bones! Use both of yourr strrong claws wheneverr you can! And attack no otherr crreaturre except the undead!"

The old liontaur prays that the sea hag will be content (or amused!) with the damage caused by her visage and follow his orders otherwise. He summons her onto square G13, next to skeleton S3, hoping she will make a full attack on it.

He himself rolls the requisite DC14 Fort Save ... 19 = OK.

Zeoll laughs, takes a five ft step toward the skellies, and figures, "in for a penny, in for a pound!" He casts Summon Fey Friend III over a prepared Prayer.

Rillett jumps as the Sea Hag shows up, a creature from children's nightmares in Bonetown. "Bilgewater! What is wrong with you Zeoll?! This place wasn't creepy enough?" (37 Will save succeeds -- no strength loss.)

Rillett closes his eyes for a moment, and channels a wave of healing positive energy through the holy symbol in his headband. This healing will be needed if what he has planned does not work (Hashamon, Rillett and anyone else injured withing 30' are healed for 18 points).

"As for the gate guard, these guys are undead as they appear, but tough. But they did not attack until we move off the tiles, and they're not talking much damage from us. Maybe we can think out way out of this conflict."

Rillett notices Magana's move to the Giving Tile (Tile 7 actually). Realizing he is the only one that can safely get to the Law Tile, Rillett will then vanish from his present location, reappearing in K10. Hopefully this will not be a suicidal move for him. (Dimensional hop -- move action, does not provoke AOO.)

There is strength in numbers, and Ecthelion knows this. His Summon Monster spells creates (1d3=1, shucks) one small Earth Elemental on square K10. It raises its small fists to bring them down on S6, slamming into the creature with ease. (Attack: 25, 10 damage)

The party quickly realise that the skeletons are indeed hostile. And Zeoll is also a bit borderline, having brought a sea-hag into the fray.

The sea-hag has seaweed like hair, and smells like a dead seal. Zeoll orders it to attack the skeletons. The sea-hag glares at the taur who dared bother her with such a thing. However, she is compelled to follow the orders she is given. For now... She limply lashes out with her claws, missing with both attacks (Hit AC19 & 20).

Zeoll steps forward a little and hopes that whatever next answers his call for aid is a little friendlier.

Magana notices the change that underwent the skeletons, and assumes that must have to do with the party stepping off of certian tiles. She returns to cover Tile #8 and hopes something will dare try and attack her.

Hash swings two fiery "appendages" at one of the skellies. Though his attack hits, the lack of damage to the black bones is somewhat concerning.

Ecth casts a greasy little spell at the skellies, before taking his place on one of the tiles. The skellies wobble however remain standing (See dice rolls in following post)

Rillet must wonder whose side Zeoll is on, but doesn't take the matter any further. He channels a healing wave to help his allies and then hops to Tile 13. Like Magana, he believes the tiles are the key, and issues directions to the others. (Highlight to display spoiler: {The skellies certainly do seem to have some sort of significant DR in place. Not a single blow has even chipped a black bone yet! Feel free to make a Knowl Religion check to learn more})

Terser has seen enough clerics channel energy, that he wonders if Rillet's has had any effect. From what he can see, the skellies certainly don't look to have been bothered by it at all (Highlight to display spoiler: {A cleric can choose to eiher heal or harm, and "Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living)". Rillet chose to heal living}). He moves to the Nobility rune and waits...

Jozhur gives the nod, and withdraws back to the 'Repose' tile.

Each of the tiles stepped on sinks back into the ground and gives the familiar 'click'.

Aex just watches, waits and hopes. Perhaps now that the party are all on the indicated tiles, things will change?

The small earth elemental appears and raises it's small fists (OOC: Rillet is at K10 so EE appears at J10). As it does so, the eyes in all the skeletons change back to the small points of red fire. The elemental's fist connects with the skeleton and sends a large piece of black bone flying!

The skeletons attack...

S1 steps up to attack the sea hag. It connects with both flaming shortswords, but doesn't look to wield them with the same power (Hit AC19 & AC27 for a total of 12pts damage + 6 pts fire)

S2 follows suit, striking with both frosty shortswords simultaneously (Hit AC31 & AC16 for a total of 15pts damage + 8pts cold) It is just enough to dispose of the hag.

S3 attacks Hash with its swords, however only one electric sword makes contact (Miss AC14 and Hit AC24. Hash takes 8pts damage + 4pts electric)

S4 pursues Hash and strikes out with its seemingly normal looking swrods. One sword connects and there is a flash of light as it does so. A crack appears in one of the skeletons bones as a result (5ft step towards Hash. Miss AC18 and Hit AC29. Hash takes 17pts damage)

S5 attacks the bothersome earth elemental (Hit AC17 and AC24. EE takes 14pts damage!)

S6 and S7 have Rillet in range. Gargul must be watching over the cleric, as none of the 4 attacks make contact with him! (Miss AC21, 17, 14, 19)

S8 moves to attack Terser. The dwarf attacks first, however, and is not doubt happy to break a large piece of bone from the skelly. The skelly weakly retaliates (Hit AC25 and AC24. Terser takes 12pts damage)

Knowledge Religion DC17 Highlight to display spoiler: {The skellies are considerably weaker now, and even look to be taking double damage from bludgeoning attacks!}

Zeoll completes his next summons, and brings forth from the Wold's Cradle a ... d10=4 ... a Giant Gar!

"I see the influence of Biloopl clearrly herre!" the liontaur declares.

The huge creature has a 15 ft reach, so even though it is a fish out of water, the fact that it cannot move should not be a problem. And it can surely hold its breath for the 12 rounds it will be on this plane (or less if it is defeated). Zeoll summons it to D-F-9-11, and hopes it will swallow a skelly that it is flanking with Hash.

Pleased with this result, Zeoll figures that third time is the charm, steps another five ft to D-E-18-19 and casts another one, this time over a Monster Summoning III spell.

Ecthelion grits his teeth as he sees the ineffectiveness of his spell - but confirms Rillet's suspicions. "Stay on the tiles and hit them hard! With blunt weapons!" (Religion: 18) The surface drow hopes that his summoned creature, with a staggering 0 HP remaining, will deal some damage... but the creature's attack falls short. (Attack: 11)

Ecthelion decides to conjure yet another object, this time a dark, shadowy quarterstaff in the tile H2 with Spiritual Weapon. The weapon attacks...

We return to our regularly scheduled programming...

Oh how quickly the tide has turned in the party's favour!

Zeoll summons a giant gar into the mix. Really? A giant gar? Oh well, if that is what Eberyon saw fit to send, then so be it.

The big fish opens its mouth and attacks S1, grabbing it firmly in its jaws (Hit AC22 (with flanking). S1 takes 18pts damage and is grappled!)

Zeoll edges closer and begins summoning 'something else'.

Jozhur resorts to his bow, but doesn't have the same success with it that he has had in the past. A rare miss.

Rillet calls on his lord's divine grace to send a burst of holy energy around him. The skeletons all suffer because of it (Will Saves: 12, 28, 22, 23, 26, 12, 14, 22).

Hash is next up, and decides that now is the time to bring out the big guns. He drops his fiery form in favor of an acid breathing chimera! (Ref Saves: 22, 21, 18, 21, 10)

Aex calls oh so many lightning bolts down. They strike the skeletons mercilessly (Ref Saves: 18, 22, 25, 20, 9, 24, 26, 18)

Terser doesn't care for any of this magic stuff. If he's going to kill something, it will be with his bare hands. He punches S8 right in its bony jaw

Magana is getting more frustrated by the moment. There are things to smash and she is stuck standing around. She calls for Zeoll to take her place and set her free!

Ecth digs further into his magical bag of tricks and cast a spiritual weapon, however the magical staff fails to connect with any skeleton.

The earth elemental lashes out weakly, yet also fails to strike anything.

Rillet believes all the skeletons are in a much weaker state now, and are actually taking significant damage from the party. Not only that, their attacks look weaker as well. Beyond the doorway he can see a passageway, however, as it is unlit he can't see much further than the opening.

The enemy act!

The grappled S1 lashes out at the Giant Gar, and burns it with his fiery sword (Hit AC22. Giant Gar takes 5pts damage + 2pts fire damage)

S2 also attacks the big fish (Miss AC13. Hit AC18. Giant Gar takes 8pts damage + 3pts cold damage)

S3 and S4 each take a step closer to Hash and attack (Both 5ft step. Miss AC13 & AC21. Hit AC31 yet failed to confirm crit with AC17. Hit AC25. Hash takes 24pts damage!). S4 also looks hurt from his own attack.

S5 puts the Earth Elemental out of its misery, and then turns its attention to Rillet! (Hit AC29. Earth Elemental takes 6pts damage! Hit AC24. Rillet takes 4pts damage!. 5ft step north)

S6 and S7 also attack Rillet. (Miss AC21 and AC18. Hit AC31 and crit confirmed with AC29. Miss AC12. Rillet takes 13pts damage + 3 pts Strength damage!)

S8 retaliates against Terser, but fails to hit the nimble dwarf (Miss AC20 and AC12)

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC24 HP 55)  d10=6 ;
Monday August 17th, 2015 11:00:17 PM

The problem with summons, thinks Zeoll, is that because you have to commit to the long time casting time, there's no turning back if you have second thoughts later. The old liontaur is thinking that his next summons may not even be needed in the end, but the die has been cast, and now it must land.

It lands on a 6! That means a Redcap! Another fey "ally that will take some management.

As Zeoll moves to take Magana's spot, he calls out to the fey fellow, summopned to 13-I, "Sirr Rredcap! Please only attack the skeletons, and please do attack them to the best of yourr ability. Leave my allies to theirr own business, and help me beat these foul undead."

Zeoll takes Magana's spot and urges her to the fray. He takes out a scroll.

Ecthelion narrows his eyes. Nothing seems to be working. Of its own volition, the Spiritual Weapon continues its attack on S2 with a much better outcome this time! (Attack: 23, Damage: 10 force) Ecthelion decides to go with something foolproof - a Magic Missile against the same skeleton his mystical weapon is wailing on. Three silvery bullets streak through the air from his fingertip, striking the black-boned creature with ease. (Damage: 9 force)

"Now it's a Redcap?! Zeoll, you're not setting a very good example for the other spellcasters."

In spite of the continual appearance of evil from the realm of Faerie, Rillett is glad for help from any realm at this point. He makes a mental note to talk to Zeoll about coming over to the bright side and worshiping Gargul. Well, grey side at least. But right now he has bigger problems, as he find himself surrounded by undead.

"Hey, watch out if you get over here. One of 'em is sapping my strength! Thanks for the assist Jozhur!" Rillett's not quite sure why Magana's saving the fish, though it is a nice fish.

Rillett closes his eyes for a moment, channeling another wave of positive energy through the holy symbol in his headband. Searing energy lashes out at all of the skeletons. (Damage 24, DC 16 for half.) It's a pity to waste all this healing energy. It's a bigger pity to be dead.

In her fey-ish wisdom, the good Queen Maab sends a RedCap to answer Zeoll's call.

Zeoll barks some orders at the little man, who just rolls his eyes. The Redcap swings his scythe at a skeleton but misses. His boot, however, makes its mark (Miss AC13. Hit AC23. S4 takes 9pts damage)

Zeoll moves to Magana's tile to finally free the minotaur.

Finally free to move about, Magana's first act is to beat not one, but two skellies about with her flail.

Ecth's spiritual weapon strikes true, and the magic missile he follows up with does the same.

Jozhur fires a volley of arrows at a skeleton, but all three miss their mark. One can only imagine the words he utters that "make his mother proud"...

Rillet can do nought but sigh with exasperation. Is Zeoll really on the same side as the rest of the party? He channels some positive energy to all skeletons about. (Will Saves: 29, 27, 24, 29, 21, 28, 21, 11)

"Gargul? Really? Pffft! I drop better 'gods' behind a good tree" the Red Cap groans (*See Note below. Will Save: 26 = Pass)

The channeling energy is enough to send skeleton 1 wherever undead go when they are destroyed.

Terser continues to punch S8 into submission, but the rotten thing refuses to 'die'!

Aex pulls out her sling, resorting to more mundane attacks. Despite not using it very often, her aim with a sling is surprisingly good!

Hash is convinced these are not your average skeletons. He disposes of S4 rather quickly, and turns his rage onto S3.

The now empty jaws of the Giant Gar reach out and envelope S2, and like several of the others, it too is destroyed (Hit AC27 for 24pts)

The enemy act...

S3 continues his attack against Hash. Perhaps Hash's attacks have spurred it on, as it lands both attacks with precision (Hit AC33. Crit confirmed with AC33. Hit AC26. Hash takes 22pts damge + 6pts electric + 1pt Strength damage!)

S5, S6 and S7 all attack Rillet! (Hit AC33. Crit not confirmed with AC21. Miss AC14. Miss AC21 and AC17. Miss AC20. Hit AC30. Rillet takes 17pts damage!)

S8 continues its fight with Terser (Hit AC28 and AC23. Terser takes 13pts damage!)

Frustrated, Hash can feel his strength waning. The collapse of the first skeleton was enough to keep him focused on his prey however. What he had lost from the last strength drain was compensated by Zeolls latest spell.

His Draconic head snarls.

"Your fancy swords will soon be part of a treasure trove, dead things!"

His Draconic and Leonine heads tear into the skeleton, gnashing away. His horn impales it, and one claw swipes into bones. Hash has the hover feat, and can make a full attack standing still while flying.

If the skeleton is destroyed, he moves 5 ft back towards Zeoll, setting up room to charge the next skeleton.

Rillett sees Magana approach, and breathes a sigh of relief. "Girl, you are a sight for sore eyes. And sore muscles, bones - pretty much everywhere I've been hit. Watch out, one of these things drains strength. I think it's this one." Rillett gestures to that skeleton.

Rillett once again closes his eyes for a moment, channeling another wave of positive energy through the holy symbol in his headband. Searing energy lashes out at the remaining skeletons. (14 Damage , DC 16 for half.) It's a pity to waste all this healing energy. It's a bigger pity to be dead.

Zeoll says a quick prayer to Maab, blessing all his allies with enhanced attacks.

Terser flies into a rage, and with newfound strength, knocks the skull free from S8's spine

Hash obliterates S3, and then backsteps towards Zeoll in anticipation of another attack.

Aex calls out to the very injured Hash not to be a hero, but to come get some healing while he still can stand. Aex follows up with another shot from her sling, and is fortunate to strike true (thanks to Zeoll's Bless). (Damage rolled: 4)

Jozhur takes aim and sends another volley of arrows at the skeletons. With Zeoll's blessing, two of the arrows strike true!

With no enemy within reach, Magana moves to support Rillet. On arrival she dispatches with S6 (Since S3 was already dead, changed your attack to S6 which killed it)

Rillet is indeed grateful for the support of Magana. Only 2 skeletons still stand, yet they stand right beside the cleric. He unleashes another wave of positive energy against the still formidable foes. (Will Saves 18 & 19)

As Rillet channels the positive energy of his deity, the Red Cap squeals in horror (Will Save 16 - 2 for already being shaken = 14! Red Cap is now 'Frightened' and must attempt to flee) "Aaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!" The blasphemous little man sprints southwards as fast as he can go

The enemy act...

Hashamon takes a heavy, deep breath and turns his three heads to look longingly at Aexana and her promise of healing. It was tempting, truly, but Rillet wasn't in much better shape than he was, and Magana's attacks all seemed to fall short of the mark, even with Zeolls blessing.

He was badly hurt, but no one else was free to move. He gives Aexana one last apologetic look, then sets all three heads looking forward. Roaring a mighty challenge, heavy strokes of bloodied wings send him crashing into the red skeletons assaulting Rillet. He sinks his large leonine teeth into the chest cavity of skeleton 7, then with heroic effort, strains hard to try and shatter it's torso completely!

Attack Bonus = d20 + 1 Height + 2 Charge + 7 Str + 2 Amulet + 1 Bless + 6 Bab -2 Power Attack= 17

Move: Charge to K 11.
Standard: Attack Skeleton 7. Hit AC 35 for 27 P/S/B damage and 9 Vicious damage. Hash takes 1 backlash.
Hero Point: Attack Skeleton 7, or 5 if 7 is destroyed. Hit AC 27 for 23 P/S/B damage and 2 shock damage.

Hash is at -2 AC for charging, so AC 23.

Hero Point subtracted.

He can see that Hashamon is in rough shape. "Don't worry Aexana, I won't let them die. But they're sure gonna need your healing with this is done! I can restore any strength loss."

Rillett concentrates and healing energy flows out of him to all allies within 30'. (18 points of healing - last channel energy for the day.)

DM Rob - Time to tend to some wounds
Friday August 21st, 2015 6:26:19 AM

Magana swings her flail about wildly, right over the head of the nearest skeleton. If it wasn't it might need to make a fear check, such is the terrifying sight of Magana!

Aex reaches into her kit and digs up a Cure Serious Wounds potion. She's not sure who yet, but she knows someone will be in need of it.

Terser goes tactical, and after calming down, channels energy to heal his comrades.

Rillet does the same, channeling even more healing energy to those who need it. And just in case, gets out his breath of life spell. Will it be needed on him, or Hash?

Ecth's spiritual weapon does not make a huge impact, but the magic missile Ecth fires certainly does!

Jozhur launches two more arrows, and though he suspects he missed everything, one of the arrows does in fact nick S5! (OOC: They have AC22 and I can see you rolled a 23)

Zeoll thinks the combat well in hand, and checks the surrounds for any dangers. A giant gar holding its breath, the sound of the Red Cap screaming somewhere south of here, and a dark corridor up ahead. Yep, that about covers it.

Finally - Hash charges forth into more combat, with little regard for self. Rillet needs him, and he won't let the cleric down. S7 barely caught of glimpse of the rampaging chimera, and both it and S5 are dealt with in quick succession.

The battle is won!

*** Hash receives a hero point for putting himself in harms way to help a friend ***
*** Rillet receives a hero point for standing his ground despite being surrounded by skeletons ***

Terser steps off of his panel now that the skeleton threat appears to be dealt with. He is ready to hop back on should they decide they have more fight in them though.

I suppose we press on, Sir Chimera.

If the skeletons stay dead dead, he starts collecting swords to heap into a pile for the smart people to identify. If Rillett spoke true and his strength was being sapped, that could be very useful for someone to wield in the future.

Ecthelion lets out a long sigh, glad that the combat has finally reached its conclusion. Despite the short length of the encounter, it seems many of the drow's allies suffered considerable damage... from some rather interesting weapons. Casting Detect Magic, he begins to pick through the pile of swords and other items that Terser was kind enough to collect.

Murph shakes his head, sticking close to the theurge. "Yeesh. You folks roll hard. Any chance that's all we needed to do to get this stone thingy?"

Almost as soon as the combat's over, Rillett's blood stains vanish from his clothes and his white robes look clean and pressed. He pushes his helmet back on his head.

"Whew! Nice work everyone, and thanks for bailing me out in the process. Especially Hash, who almost earned us a visit before Gargul's throne. Now, first order of business is to get folks patched up. "

Rillett fishes into his pocket and pulls out a couple wands. He'll use the first wand to heal Magana's wounds, as well as his own, saying "bactine" each time. With the second he'll say "hale and hardy" to heal his strength loss.

"Anyone else lose strength in that combat?"

"Zeoll, keep an eye out for your red headed stepchild. Ya know, if you want to switch teams, as a follower of Gargul your summoning spells will be under your control instead of getting Maab's leftovers. Just sayin. "

Monday August 24th, 2015 12:50:02 AM

Hash starts licking his wounds and questions as to what the party do next? There is certainly nothing special in this room.

With the skeletons no longer moving, Terser feels comfortable enough to step away from his tile. It slowly rises back into its original position ... but nothing else happens. The skeletons remain motionless and the doors remain open.

Ecth is able to identify the swords collected:
2 x +1 Flaming shortswords
2 x +1 Frost shortswords
2 x +1 Shock shortswords
2 x +1 Vicious shortswords
2 x +1 Ghost Touch shortswords
2 x +1 Bane (Human) shortswords
2 x +1 Defending shortswords
2 x +1 Thundering shortswords

Rillet and Hash look about for a sword that might have been the cause of their lost strength, but no such sword can be found (Highlight to display spoiler: {It was a prewritten ability for the skeletons, that they would sap strength through their swords on a confirmed critical hit. Not an ability of the swords themselves})

The skeletons have been well and truly destroyed and only a faint lingering magical aura remains on them. If Zeoll wishes to take a fragment as a souveneir he is able to. He doesn't see anything approaching from either direction, and can barely make out the screaming of the Red Cap far to the south. The Giant Gar continues to hold its breath, stuck on dry land until Zeoll bids it farewell. Would a Giant Gar know friend from foe? Would it attack anyone else that got close to it? Hmmm...

Magana and Jozhur approach the doors at the northern end of the room and can see they open into another corridor. It is indeed dark - and hot - and Jozhur lights a torch to help see the way. The passage continues on further than the light, and on quite a modest decline.

He'll take the same place in line as earlier.

Hash, with obvious wounds, asks Aexana for some help in healing his strength.

Rillet gives his light coin to Jozhur, and then fills in the remaining curing needed to get the group back to full.

Terser takes a lesser potion, not really needing much healing.

Magana scoops up the swords, taking note of which one is which. Those should sell for some coin.

After passing through the doors, they close shut behind the party.

Following on from the stone doors, the party are led a relatively short way (a few hundred feet) before they find themselves in another large room (100ft x 50ft and 10ft high).

At the other end of the room is a familiar looking huge archway with large stone doors. Etched in the archway in glowing blue runes reads "Those loyal to Alemi need only to touch his eye"

Along the entire southern wall is a beautifully chiseled mural.

A hillscape adorns the bottom. To the left side fluffy clouds and a sun hang overhead fields of corn. Cows out to pasture and horses in stables. To the right side a night sky, where a crescent moon and stars hang over a temple.
All throughout the mural are people of all races. Women and men alike. A farmer working tirelessly in his field, a boy picking apples from a tree, a pregnant elvish woman sitting in a rocking chair, an old man walking down a road, a minotaur sitting crosslegged in meditation, an old gnomish woman doing some sewing, a dwarf with a pick on his shoulder, a halfling tucking in to meat and a potato. Everywhere you look you find another instance of a person of some sort. Some are smiling, some are talking, some are angry and some are sad.

Murph snickers. "Not like you'd actually be able to hit anything with it."

"Regardless, I can carry those that we do not need. The Ghost Touch swords should be kept handy, just in case we encounter incorporeal undead. There is another Defending shortsword should anyone want more defense."

”Good thinking Hash, but only the clerics of Gargul that are referred to as ‘eyes.’ Alemi is the God of health and wellness. I suppose at some level, all living creatures that love life are loyal to Alemi. Not sure what it would mean to ‘touch his eye.’ Maybe it means if you love life you have to touch your eye.” Rill will touch his eye. Not seeing anything happen, and feeling a bit silly with his finger still on his eye, Rillett turns and says, ”Let’s ask Ecth if he has some arcane bit of lore that will shed some light here. His familiar shares much with the Ecth, so even Murph may have some insight. What about it Ecth – any idea what this means?”

"Anybody see anything else in this mural or the other walls that offers a clue?"

In an attempt to make himself useful, he checks the room for any sort of traps, then closely examines the mural, particularly the eyes that are missing from the art.

"Queen Ma'ab has entrusted me with some of her power. I can take the shape of almost any creature in the Wold, so long as it falls under her domains of beast, animal, elemental, or dragon. In return, I do my best to maintain order as She thinks it should be preserved."

He rumbles a bit, then continues. His voice echoing thrice-fold from multiple heads.

"I'm not surprised you haven't seen the like before. I've only heard tales of a much younger Shifter, somewhere else in the Wold, but she will never have the gifts I have...I'm the last of my kind, in a way."

He yawns wide, watching Jozhur super-poke a mural. He licks his leonine, draconic, and hircine lips. A little acid dripples from the green dragons maw.
