New Day Dawns

On to the Warehouse (DM Cayzle)
Saturday January 16th, 2016 12:06:26 AM

You decide to prepare for a new day by getting to sleep and rising early for your morning raid on the rat-infested warehouse of Eleazar. But your dreams are filled with oddities: fighting and casting and sneaking and reading.

OOC: You find, when you awake, that you have earned a level. The experience point breakdown looks like this:

Scene 1: Community Leadership, Rats, and Ghosts - 600 xp

Scene 2: The To Do List: The Docks, the Weapon Shop, the Palace. - 300 xp

Scene 3: The Alchemist's Basement - 800 xp

Scene 4: Sewers and the Back Door - 400 xp

Please do take the weekend to upgrade your PC sheets. As soon as your paperwork is done, you may start using your new capabilities. Please roll hit dice on the Loot N Booty board, and reoll 1s, per Wold policy.

Once you finish your quick breakfast in the hour before dawn, what is your plan?

Micah (John) HP: 10/10 AC: 17/10/17
Saturday January 16th, 2016 12:50:14 PM

Micah departs for his room with much to ponder. He wonders what Koh has been doing and wishes her well in his thoughts. He considers the new addition to this group. Perhaps this precocious halfling will be a welcome boost on as they continue to root out the problems plaguing the Fence. And Jaspar, an unlikely friend. He hopes their trust is not misplaced...

Micah is surprised when he awakes, never really realizing he fell asleep. Rising earlier than Grokk's wake up, he prays to Domi, thankful for the things they have been allowed to accomplish, the safety provided to them, and for the opportunity to serve more.

Renewed and reinvigorated after his meditations, he inexplicably knows that Domi has heard and blessed them all. He proceeds to complete his preparations and goes into the main room to await his friends.

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 8/8 AC:12/12/10
Saturday January 16th, 2016 8:57:35 PM

Finishing up writing in his journal before bed, Pesmer takes the time to reflect on the past weeks journey. Meeting so many new people and adventuring like he hadn't before, he was rather surprised how far he had come since he was a lad boy being trained by his mother and father.

Falling asleep shortly after, Pesmer would dream wild, adventurous dreams before waking the next morning. Going over his spell book for an hour or so, he would eventually get dressed and wander down to join the others for some sort of breakfast just before dawn.

Martisan Odenthorp (Damarr) HP: 9/9 | AC: 18 | T:14 | FF:15
Sunday January 17th, 2016 5:57:42 PM

(OOC: Sorry about my missed posts. I'll refrain from posting weekends in the future if it's bothersome, otherwise this should work for what I didn't put up Friday, at least in content if not record-keeping)

Martisan toasts with the others, also quiet and thoughtful as the odd assortment goes their separate ways for the evening.

The Halfling meets the others at the Fatted Calf before dawn, again writing in her journal on the excitement of the past few days; marking details that may come in handy later, referencing notes she made the night before.

"I'm all set to go when you folks are." She says through a mouthful of food, with a plate piled high in front of her. "We could check out Eleazar's old shop for clues before we raid the criminal's hideout, but I think we're better off trying to catch him and his rats sleeping. We should hit the warehouse to reopen that back door, and sneak in quiet-like."

(OOC: I might be confused; Eleasar's old storefront & his warehouse are two different locations, right?)

Norr (David S.) HP: 25/25 AC: 18 T: 11 FF: 16 CMB :+6
Monday January 18th, 2016 10:11:59 AM

Norr rises shortly before Grokk's wake up call. He quickly gathers his things and joins the others for a quick meal.

"I'm ready as well but moving quietly isn't really my specialty." Norr replies to Martisan's suggestion.

Micah HP: 16/16 AC: 17/10/17 (Robert D posting for Micah)
Monday January 18th, 2016 6:16:04 PM

Micah greets the others. "I think the element of surprise has been lost. Eleazar has had all night to prepare. He may even have reopened the grate in the sewers. I would recommend we all head to the warehouse. One there," He nods toward Aggrippa, "I think that the more stealthy of us should do a quick look-around to see if there is only one entrance and how safe it would be to enter it. Perhaps it would be better if a window could be found. Crashing through it may be safer than opening a door that Eleazar and his remaining followers will be watching."

Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 10/10 AC: 20.(t)17.(ff)13
Monday January 18th, 2016 8:32:41 PM

Having cooked and cleaned, she mules over the magic that she has seen cast in the last week. Agrippa has often pondered over all the fantastic spells wizards use to attract the masses; making the ceiling appear that of the sky, playing curious sounds and projecting multi-colored floating bubbles into and out of shops. Just thinking of everything she saw on the highest floor makes her daydream... until she catches herself nodding off. She hops into bed. Her wonder turns into curiosity when her thoughts take her back to Martisan before falling asleep.

Waking early, she dresses for the climate (traveler's outfit to conceal her more prominent orc-like features), conceals her weapons, makes sure her crowbar is still in her pack and heads to meet the rest of the party at the Fatted Calf.

Hearing Micah and Martisan's suggestions, she grimaces and adds, "I woul' feel more comfortable scoutin' ahead if I knew I coul' commune with y'all withou' altertin' any potential threats. The firs' time I tried sneakin' up to a rat-man, he caught me pretty quick." She rubs her forearm over the studs in her leather armor. "Must've been when I knealt, he heard em." She looks back at the party. "I wish I could've made my intentions clearer to everyone, y'know, when it came to talkin' 'em down. But for now, I ain' as confident in sneakin' unless we can find a method to commune. Throwin' colored pebbles, maybe?"

On to the Warehouse (DM Cayzle)
Monday January 18th, 2016 10:04:14 PM

A reflective Micah is first downstairs for breakfast.

Pesmer, also introspective, prepares his mind for the coming day and then meets for breakfast.

Martisan plans for the day at breakfast. She inquires of the location of Eleazar's old shop, and learns that it has been reopened as a shop that employs a tailor and sells clothing of all kinds. The warehouse is in a different spot (see below).

The halfling also suggests opening and sneaking through the back door.

Norr says he is not much of one for sneaking.

Micah suggests that a scout take a look at the warehouse first.

Agrippa does not want to scout unless there is some way to communicate with the person scouting. Too much can go wrong.

FYI, here is a map of the Fence level of the Floating City: http://www.woldiangames.com/Woldipedia/index.php/Geography:_Floating_City:_Fence_Level

"I'm sure you will do fine Agrippa. I don't mean for you to go off completely on your own while we sit on our laurels waiting for your report. My intent was that once we are near the warehouse, you go ahead stealthy and nonchalant wise to check over the premise and we would hang back but keep you in sight."

Micah looks at everyone. "I think the time has come for us to stand up and act like heroes. We have identified the perpetrator. It's time to bring him to justice, one way or the other."

OOC, I just looked at John's character sheet. It does not look like he changed his spells but he emailed me Saturday that the spells he had on tap now are 0: detect magic, mend, create water, and light. 1st: bless, command, protection from evil, and for his domain spell he chose enlarge person.

Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/10 CMB: +4
Tuesday January 19th, 2016 9:15:20 AM

Stohp takes a long bath before bed, scrubbing out the stink & smell of the sewers. If crawling in such filth is a common adventurer practice it's amazing that so many take up the occupation. In the morning she inquires of Grokk for a local map and marks the spot that she believes is the warehouse.

Sitting down with the others Stohp presents the map to aide the discussion of tactics. "It seems to me that there is only one entrance to this warehouse, unless there's a back exit that leads into one of these other buildings. I don't see how we can sneak up on it; it's a strait lane and anyone approaching would be seen."

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 14/14 AC:12/12/10

(Spells Prepared: 0 Level Spells: Read Magic, Detect Magic, Prestidigitation and Ray of Frost.
1 Level Spells: Shield, Magic Missile and Color Spray.
School Slot spell Level 1: Magic Weapon
Wand of Reduce Person: 14 Charges)

Pesmer couldn't help but blink a few times as Micah gave his speak about being heroes and what they should all do. Seeing his friend acting a tad different this morning, he would, for the time being, shrug it off and chalk it up to nerves and lack of sleep.

"Hmmm... Well, I must say I am not thrilled about this plan of sneaking if the one doing the sneaking isn't confident in the plan. Safety first and all that.. I have a few magicks I can cast upon you, Agrippa, to shield you from harm should we do this plan. I can also.." Pesmer pauses as his hand reaches into his wizards robes, tugging out the wand of reduce person they had acquired from before. "Make you small as to help with the sneaking part in itself. You won't be as strong for a full minute or two but you will be quicker. I only wish to go through with any plan if we are all completely certain and focused on the task. I fear Micah might be right about Eleazar being ready for us and all that. If we go in.. Expect him to throw his worst at us. That includes disease, my friends, as we have had to deal with it before. And bring silver. My magicks will hurt the ratmen certain enough but I suggest everyone bring silver if they can."

Pesmer grins as he pulls out his brand new walking stick, it carved from the wood of a Whistal tree, shod with a silver hoof at the base. He was told it could hit true against any creature weak to silver.

Micah HP: 16/16 AC: 17/10/17 (Robert D posting for Micah)
Tuesday January 19th, 2016 4:07:16 PM

Micah sits at a table and appears lost in thought. He wonders to himself "I thought our plan was to go to the warehouse in the morning for a final confrontation." His brows furrow. "At least I thought that was the consensus before we all went to bed."

He address the group. "What is our plan? What are our options? It seems to me there are several."

A: We know where Eleazar is holed up."
Slight pause, he had not meant to make a pun. "He is probably there with this 'Bully-boy Rouger' that Jasper mentioned, as well as a few pet rats. We have lost the advantage of surprise but we should have numbers in a direct confrontation. So we can go to the warehouse and attack.

B: We can try and investigate Eleazar's old shop and maybe ask around about what happened to him and what may have caused his actions. We also don't know the specifics of what his, and if I'm quoting Jasper right, 'crap-all spewing' was. Then we can try to approach Eleazar in a diplomatic manner and try to have the courts seek redress for crimes against him, though he would also have to be willing to accept the courts rulings against him. Though from our conversation with Jasper I'm not sure how well that avenue would go.

C: We could try to go back through the sewers and see if the gate is open. We already know we can't force the gate open so that way may lead to just more trucking through the sewers."

D: We could see what sort of business abut his warehouse and if they would let us look for access from there. Does anyone know what sort of material the buildings are made of?"

Micah pauses and looks to the ceiling. "Have I missed anything? Does anyone have another option?"

Micah looks around at everyone. "If we're voting on what's present I would vote for option A. From what I got from Jasper I don't think Eleazar is going to be to open to talking. If we can't sneak then we may as well be bold. Though I still suspect that the front door may be trapped and we should take that into consideration."

Norr (David S.) HP: 25/25 AC: 18 T: 11 FF: 16 CMB :+6  d10=5 ;
Tuesday January 19th, 2016 8:01:57 PM

Norr looks over the map while listening to the others, trying to recall if he's heard of any passages that could lead to the warehouse. (Knowledge local 5)

"Judging from the map, there isn't another way in up here. If we take the sewers, there's two problems: we aren't sure we can open that gate and we have to use more of the shrinking wand. Another vote for option A. It's the simplest and we know where it leads."

Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 10/10 AC: 20.(t)17.(ff)13
Tuesday January 19th, 2016 11:33:07 PM

"Second for option A, bu' can we take a quick look at the door to the sewers again? The lever was on the outside, lockin' them in. If they re-opened it, then it's a perfect escape for 'em, righ'? Let's make sure it is closed, at least."

On to the Warehouse (DM Cayzle)
Tuesday January 19th, 2016 11:47:16 PM

The heroes talk about the situation and plan. Is the front door trapped? Can Eleazar escape into the sewers? What foes occupy the warehouse?

Intent on the planning in the time before dawn, time seems to stand still.

Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/10 CMB: +4
Wednesday January 20th, 2016 12:15:13 AM

"With the sewer door locked they have no way to retreat into the sewers. Unless late last night one of them tramped all the way around to unlock it we simply have to go through the front and we'll have them pinned."

Martisan Odenthorp (Damarr) HP: 9/9 | AC: 18 | T:14 | FF:15  d20+7=19 ;
Wednesday January 20th, 2016 2:24:55 AM

(OOC: I misunderstood the back entrance; thought the store was his hideout.)

Standing on a chair, the wheat-gold mop atop her head level with the seated Minotaurs' chests, Martisan nudges Agrippa with a smile "It ain't so bad, bein' li'l either. You'd be s'prised, what the tall folk miss down on here the ground." she says, affectionately adopting the rogue's street slang. She thoughtfully watches Pesmer wave the wand, glancing once around them for any onlookers. "Should've put it together, with the big-uns being regular long-legs size yesterday, but I might be able to slip through them bars if that works the way I think it does."

Closing her notes and packing her things away, she turns to Micah with a shrug. "I don't think Eleasar know's we're coming. Jaspar was posted at the back gate for who knows how long - sounds like he didn't get along with the others in the gang much either; I'd say he's not likely to go back there, and how else would Eleasar know we stopped by? This 3-Rat Operation doesn't sound like the sort to keep to regular shift rotations."

Martisan continues to eat standing on the chair, her pack resting beside her. The Halfling's voice carries well, tone and pitch measured, each word deliberate. As she speaks, the soft brush of magic slides through the group, drawn and held by the amateur detective's words; perfectly understandable despite her bulging cheeks. "I'm not much for frontal assaults, myself - just not built for 'em. So I like to know what's up, as much as I can, before I tip my hand. We've got a fair idea what we're up against, but let's just see if this misguided rat-tamer doesn't have another obvious Ace up his sleeve. And whatever small measure of surprise we stand to gain is almost always the best best. Of course, the front door may be the only option left, but let's check the sewer-escape again, see if we can't get through that way, and otherwise scope out the warehouse and make our entrance there."

As she finishes the seemingly impromptu performance, she stops speaking and mouths her final words, the sound whispering magically in the others' ears. "I believe we all agree now is the time to act. Boldness of action is certainly warranted, but the most brazen action is yet not always the boldest."

It seemed too perfect, & after the words started coming & the roll agreed for a decent first oration. I apologize if I offend by presuming too much. A tiny, reduced Halfling would be roughly the size of a house cat. Escape artist for the future will be a better bet than Diplomacy, I see. I think we've got a few diplomats. Congrats on the level, guys!)

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 14/14 AC:12/12/10
Wednesday January 20th, 2016 11:02:57 AM

Raising a brow, he watches as the group discusses what the next course of action should be. Several people have voted for Plan A: Direct Assault on the compound. Pesmer was always in the mood for a good fight but he always didn't wish to see his new friends all begin to die one by one, either. Hearing the options being thrown onto the table, Pesmer does chime in here and there.

"We do not know if we have numbers, Brother Micah. If Eleazar has been planning this for awhile then he could have a decent force backing him up. The force, though, if I had to guess.. Will most likely be more rats and such rather then actual foot soldiers and ratmen. Ratmen we can talk to.. Convince to stand down. Rats, eh.. Not so much."

Nodding, he gently plays with the magic wand as the others take their turns speaking. With Martisan bringing up that she could slip through the bars of the iron gate they ran into the day before, he chuckles a little. "I had the same idea yesterday but if you run into trouble on the other side, well, you would be very much on your own. I wouldn't want our new friend to shrink down and crawl into a dark tunnel never to be seen again."

He playfully chuckles, truly meaning that he would want no harm to come to anyone in the group and rather disliking the idea that his magicks would end up spelling doom to anyone he had been adventuring with. "As more and more of us vote for plan A, I see little point in arguing to change minds. Frontal assault is what I vote for as well. I wouldn't mind checking the tunnels to make sure the gate is sealed but I don't think we all need to go to complete that task."

Seeing Martisan stand upon her chair and happily eat her food as she begins to speak, Pesmer would very quickly pick up on the magick's that their new companion began to weave upon the group. His sharp eyes focused entirely upon Martisan's face as she spoke her words, a small rush of annoyance now quickly bubbling up from within his stomach. His hand would clench his quarterstaff as he held in his words, allowing Martisan to finish her speech before speaking his mind.

"While I do appreciate your words, Martisan, and what you are trying to accomplish.." Pesmer took in a deep breath as he tried to calm himself, aiming not to insult or carry anger within his voice, but to at the very least express his upset. " But I must ask you to refrain from casting magicks on myself without my permission. Such an act is often considered disrespectful, especially among individual's who do not know one another. I understand that, in combat, one cannot always ask for permission when it comes to life or death. At such times you will often not have to ask for such permissions. Here, though, in safety and society, I ask that you do not cast such gifts upon me without asking first. I will forgive this time as I don't believe you carry intent to upset or harm. I do hope you understand." Pesmer tried to keep a smile upon his face as he did not wish to upset the conversation or drive any wedges, especially since the group was still getting to know one another, but his eyes showed a certain seriousness to them. He knew full well how easy it was to speak a few words and dominate another's will. While Martisan seemed nice, he had known her for a very short while and had no true way of knowing if she truly was friend or foe.

Micah looks over at Martisan as she does her performance. He cocks one eyebrow at her.

He turns to Pesmer. "If a few in the party feel the need to check the back gate to see if it's still closed and wants to try to wedge it closed, we can wait for an hour or so. But I think it would be up to whomever wishes to do that and is small enough to get through the sewers without problem. The rest of us can prepare for the warehouse."

He looks over the map Stohp has presented. "Hmm, it's on one edge is on the waterfront. Do we know if there are windows there? Does anyone know if you can fish off the edge of a street?"

He turns back to Pesmer. [b]"As for spells, I offer to cast Domi's 'Bless' on us before combat. Also if anyone wishes to be larger than they already are,"
he pauses to look around the group with a slight smile on his face, "I can accomplish that as well."

(DC 14 Will save to willfully resist the language-dependent effect harmless, based on other Bardic Performances that allow a save; also only works if you watch & listen the whole time; otherwise the effects can maybe just be declined?)

The shrewd Halfling hops down off her chair and slings her shortbow and pack onto her back with a shrug. "I love it when folks can appreciate a motivating speech or the irregular, captivating story; I've a penchant for them, myself, and find they increase my own drive and determination. I wish only to help keep everyone sharp, but I see you don't need my help there, with a grindstone of your own." She gives Pesmer an appraising look and a wink, impressed with the mage's astuteness. Martisan had just learned herself. relatively recently, that the slight edge often granted by her words was a form of magic she'd been unwittingly using for years. The bold little sneak had just thought herself particularly winsome. With the realization of her magical talents came practice, eventually giving her access to a small selection of useful spells.

"I'll be more mindful of your wishes next time, Pesmer, I apologize. As you have heard, I do also have the means to discretely keep those of us scouting in touch with the others, if folks are willing to receive the magical missives. This I can always do." She nods to Agrippa, indicating her previous use of the simple spell as a means to reassure the Half-Orc's concerns about communication.

She begins clearing her portion of the table, still eating as she does. "A possible approach from the waterfront is worth investigating, good thinking there - crashing through the front could be fun too, I suppose." She says, clearly still not enthused with the latter prospect. "I have no pressing urge to check the back gate again myself, if we're not going to use it - if it is open, we know where it comes out, so Eleasar can't run too far that way before we'd catch him anyway. Of course that's if he manages to slip away from us at the warehouse. But, if there's a concern, I'm willing to slog through the sewers again to take a look."

She will certainly take note, however, of Pesmer's experience of the potential harm of being susceptible to such words with a

Wednesday January 20th, 2016 11:53:13 PM

[OOC: Looking at the hp totals in the headers, not everyone has updated to second level. Please do so before putting the plan into action!]

Per Micah: "Hmm, it's on one edge is on the waterfront. Do we know if there are windows there? Does anyone know if you can fish off the edge of a street?"

It is common knowledge that when a street on the Fence level is right on the edge of the Float, there is a low wall -- and people often fish off it. Sometimes kids jump in to swim, but that's agains tthe law, and most grown-ups will tell your folks if they catch you at it.

There may well be windows on the water-facing side of the warehouse -- you do not know. You would have to walk over there to see.

Those with some subtlety make quick scouting trips to investigate a few questions.

The back door is still shut. Recall that it is an iron-plated portcullis, so there is no way to sneak between the bars. You would need gaseous form or a Blink spell to get through.

It turns out that the warehouse DOES have some third story windows looking out on the lake. It would be a DC20 climb check. At speed 30, you can make a climb check as a move action to climb 7.5 feet. The nearest window from the northeastern corner of the warehouse is a 30-ft climb (two rounds and four successful checks required).

Does this info alter your thinking?

Pesmer nods as Micah speaks of how he can make everyone large if anyone wishes to be, him lightly tapping the edge of the wand of reduce person down upon the table. "You can make everyone bigger and I make them smaller.. The group of size ever changing, eh? I think the hard hitters of us could benefit from being large while those who wish to be stealthier might wish to be smaller."

Unable to keep himself from grinning as he listens to Martisan and sees her wink, he nods a little as he gives in a bit to her playful charm. "Grindstone, hmm? You make it rather hard to scold someone when you retaliate with such silvery words. Will have to be careful around you, Ms. Martisan." He smirks before returning to the conversation at hand.

"I have a spell to help protect and a few spells to invoke hurt. I have also acquired two new spells; One that lets me read any language and one that allows me to create an illusion. Haven't tested it yet so.. Who knows what will happen. I say we kick open the front door. I am not adept at climbing nor swimming so I say we blast our way in and hope for the best." Pesmer stands up and gathers his things, his unique walking stick in hand as he awaits everyone else to get ready to leave. "Whatever plan we do, I say we start walking. We are losing the early morning edge."

(OOC: I meant to include a bit on tactics, sorry. This would be her 3 rounds of performance, if necessary, to add Careful Teamwork again)

As they finalize plans and move to the warehouse, Martisan pulls her shortbow off her back and tests the string. "I'll be more ranged support in the coming battle than anything." She says calmly, slinging the bow back over her shoulder and drawing her whip, tugging on sections before tucking the coiled length of leather back on her hip as well. "As I said I like to avoid physical confrontations where possible, but I have a few tricks to try and trip up our enemies and hopefully keep them occupied while the fighting types do their thing." Finally, she draws her shortsword and quickly checks the blade, sheathing it with a satisfied grunt. "I'm guessing y'all have got some measure of teamwork figured out already, so I'll stay alert & try to help where I see an opening."

Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 15/15 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13
Thursday January 21st, 2016 8:50:32 PM

Agrippa remembers her last day at the bar before the rats wrecked havoc inside. She wonders to herself, as she walks with her party members, if this is what the rats felt before their ambush. She takes note of everyone's weapons and prepares her daggers.

Stohp (Mitch) HP: 18/18 AC: 13/12/10 CMB: +4
Friday January 22nd, 2016 12:38:46 AM

Stohp chuckles at Martisan's guess. "You overestimate our experience. We've been fighting together only a day or two, hardly enough time to turn into a well oiled combat machine. I'm sure you'll find a way to make yourself useful."

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 14/14 AC:12/12/10
Friday January 22nd, 2016 3:20:32 AM

Pesmer chuckles a little as he nods to what Stohp says about their teamwork, agreeing with her on the subject. "Stohp has the right of it. We have bought a few battles together but nothing more. We are all still learning each others strengths, weaknesses and boundaries. I am sure you will be just fine in the fight ahead. Always have convinced in each spell you sling and each word you say. Magick is all about confidence." Pesmer tells Martisan his advice which, in truth, was just him trying to boost up her confidence so that she hopefully didn't freeze up in the middle of the fight. Or maybe he was trying to boost his own confidence..

"Fishing poles wouldn't be a bad idea but I wouldn't know where to get them at. Market I assume. We could split into two teams when we get there. A group climbing up to the top floor and a group going through the front door. Though that could be a problem when it comes to healing since I believe only Brother Micah has the gift of healing." Pesmer says as he walks with the group out of the tavern and hopefully towards their destination.

Micah HP: 16/16 AC: 17/10/17 (Robert D posting for Micah)
Friday January 22nd, 2016 8:33:58 AM

"I don't like the idea of splitting the party. Things don't go well when that happened."

Norr (David S.) HP: 25/25 AC: 18 T: 11 FF: 16 CMB :+6
Friday January 22nd, 2016 8:54:35 AM

"We stick together then. The ones climbing could fall and slow everything down."

Norr makes a final check of his gear before joining the others in the march to the warehouse.

Stohp (Mitch) HP: 18/18 AC: 13/12/10 CMB: +4
Friday January 22nd, 2016 11:40:07 PM

Stohp makes one last check of her gear before they head out, insuring the useful presents she picked up at the GG party where within reach just in case.

Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 15/15 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13
Saturday January 23rd, 2016 2:14:46 AM

...Is this really the right thing to do, Agrippa thinks to herself. The guy coundn't make a living selling rats, so he turns terrorist. Perhaps with Ffloy's guidance... Agrippa attempts to find a place for Eleazar in society in her mind. Sanitation? That's pretty important, and rats could be utilized quite well. But who would want that job? How to make it alluring...

Agrippa's brow is furrowed as she walks with the group. Slinging her pack to one shoulder, Agrippa's traveler's cloak is drawn around her so as to conceal her half-orc features, but the tunic usually associated with a traveler's outfit is replaced completely with her studded leather. Her dagger (the silver one) and short sword (regular) are also visible on her belt.

Either way, he must be pacified at the moment, she concludes silently to herself. Even if the party might want him dead, his anger was generated from a lack of opportunity within society, and Ffloy will not allow me to not at least try to apprehend him alive.

Agrippa will turn to Martisan. "You explained it a bit ago, but can you show it to me again, how this... Message spell works?"

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 14/14 AC:12/12/10
Saturday January 23rd, 2016 7:58:47 PM

Pesmer wanders with the rest of the party towards their destination, his eyes peering up towards the heavens as if looking for Ffloy's guidance.

Sunday January 24th, 2016 4:59:48 AM

Pesmer turns to Agrippa as a light goes off in his head. "Hey Agrippa.. I was wondering if you knew where the The Star Mages' Guild was on The Float. I tried asking around earlier but everyone thought I was crazy... Any help being pointed in the right direction would be much appreciated." Pesmer smiles at his friend.

Martisan Odenthorp (Damarr) HP: 15/15 | AC: 18 | T:14 | FF:15
Sunday January 24th, 2016 3:34:28 PM

Martisan shakes her head, smiling and chuckling softly at Pesmer's question. Just like a wizard, to ask about where he can further his studies on the way to a likely fight, while everyone else is making battle plans.

"It's actually quite simple," She says to Agrippa, gesturing to both her and Pesmer, again mouthing the final words, which appear as a whisper to their ears alone. "I can speak to two individuals, who can each whisper a short reply. It has decent range, but cannot travel far through stone, metal, earth or wood." (Message; DC 25 Perception for those nearby to hear)

"Sounds like we're all going through the front then. I suggest Agrippa and I scout ahead to check the entrance for traps; doing the same in the building once everyone gets inside, until we run into our first obstacle."

Sunday January 24th, 2016 5:13:33 PM

A few moments later, she again whispers a message to Pesmer and Agrippa. "I can maintain the connection for about twenty minutes before I need to cast the spell again - a simple matter itself, while we're together. I believe you can only respond after each of my own messages."

"Pesmer - friends;" Martisan begins as they draw closer to their destination, posing a final question for the blue-clad mage; addressing the rest of group almost as an afterthought "Might I work a bit of my magic on you again? Promise it won't hurt," She winks. "Just want to keep us on our toes and on the same page."

Martisan recounts the others' words on tactics and their cautions on sticking together. She reminds everyone of Pesmer's advice on silver, and gives a few points on how to move should they be ambushed or run into an unexpected trap. (Perform: oratory 19; 3 rounds of Performance for Careful Teamwork: +1 Perception; +1 Disable Device; +1 Reflex Saves vs Traps; +1 AC vs Traps; +1 Flat-Footed AC for one hour. Doesn't apply to any who decline. 3 rounds of Performance left for the day.)

On to the Warehouse (DM Cayzle)
Sunday January 24th, 2016 9:09:12 PM

[OOC: My friends, I apologize. Last week saw me with energencies at home and work, plus the storm. We'll get five DM posts in this week for sure, starting with this one.]

Pesmer brings up several points of magical lore, but in the end, he urges the straightforward approach.

Micah is interested in the seaward approach, and he knows from his local knowledge (DC2 check) that fishing rods are easy to find. Lots of people fish off the fence level, either off the docks or off the walls such as those near Eleazar's Warehouse. But does Micah want the rod in order to blend in, or to hook a window? He also clarifies his growth spell; he can make one person grow. It occurs to him that an enlarged Taur could practically reach up and grab the upper level window. Unless he or she lost their balance and fell in!

Stohp agrees with Pesmer on the direct approach, and she suggests that she will grapple this Eleazar.

Martisan volunteers to look for traps, and she mentions her new spell to prevent damage from falls. She says she is better at ranged attacks. And she renews her planning bonus for the next hour.

Agrippa keeps her own counsel but makes sure all her conrades-in-arms are ready. They are!

The group consider splitting up -- some through a window, others through the main door. Norr is opposed to that plan.

But further delay will lose you your advantage. The group moves forward through quiet morning streets. In the "sky" above, the horizon to the east is turning pink. Please place yourselves on the 5 foot scale map below and post your position. Please note any spells you have cast, or other prep you have taken.

WE'LL SHIFT TO ROUND BY ROUND AS SOON AS YOU ENCOUNTER AN ENEMY.

Micah (John) HP: 10/10 AC: 17/10/17
Monday January 25th, 2016 8:30:32 PM

Micah takes a position to water side of the door (AD40), ready to step in with spells or hammer while Martisan works to clear the door. Depending on how it opens, he may do so to keep the combatants free to deal with any threats.

He offers to enlarge Norr explaining that once he calls upon Domi's power the benefit will only last about two minutes. Another alternative would be to wait until they see what is inside. If that is Norr's preference, he will wait until a sign from him to do so. (Ready Action to cast Enlarge). Should Norr prefer to remain his already impressive size, then Micah will be prepared to Bless the party should they encounter enemies.

As his heartrate quickens in the cool damp of early dawn, he laments the absence of Roland and wonders where he has gone to.

Regardless, ready with hammer and prayer he waits for the others to take a position and determine how to open the door.

Monday January 25th, 2016 8:44:44 PM

(Well I'd like to position myself relative to the rest of the party but no one else has posted yet XD Stohp would want to be in the middle of the pack - not in the lead with her lighter armor, but close to the front. I suggest Nor leads with Stohp behind him and Micah in the back to guard against ambush and heal.)

As they walk down the street towards the alley she tries to remember what the building directly across from the warehouse is and the one facing the street. "Everyone act natural, like we just have business at the place next door. If they have a lookout we'll be seen regardless, but if we pretend we're heading next door until the last moment it might confuse him enough to slow his warning before we kick down the door."

(Ok if we're skipping the approach then I guess I'm at AD 39)

Martisan Odenthorp (Damarr) HP: 15/15 | AC: 18 | T:14 | FF:15  d20+10=18 ; d20+10=20 ;
Tuesday January 26th, 2016 3:23:46 AM

Slipping to the front of the group, whip in hand, Martisan scans the door for any irregularities or obvious signs of alarm (Perception 19; forgot the Insight bonus from Performance I obsessed over). After taking a closer look herself, the curious Halfling flags Agrippa if she notices any possible trap mechanisms.

Otherwise satisfied, Martisan steps back and to the side, moving around the far side the of the door the way they came (Y40). She plans to sneak in at the back of the group, possibly obscuring her entrance behind one of the Minotaurs, should there be trouble (Otherwise again sneaking ahead to scout, if the way appears clear).

Her face set in a look of determination, Martisan rolls her shoulder beneath her buckler, waiting for their way to be opened.

(Sneaking one way or another once the door's opened, may as well roll it now. Stealth 20)

Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 15/15 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13  d20+8=21 ; d20+7=20 ;

(+1 Perception; +1 Disable Device; +1 Reflex Saves vs Traps; +1 AC vs Traps; +1 Flat-Footed AC for one hour. Doesn't apply to any who decline. 3 rounds of Performance left for the day.)

After understanding how the Message spell works, she attempts to whisper a reply back, "Tha's terribly convenient". She will want to play with it a bit more later, but for the moment, the warehouse is in sight.

Agrippa will place her pack down silently (W40). She gets flagged by Martisan after she inspects the door. She'll attempt to discern if there are any alarms on this portal as well (Perception v Traps: 21).

[If there are no traps]

Agrippa intends to be perhaps the second to enter, attempting to slip behind the first bit of cover she can find going East of the door (AD - AE, 42 - 43). Awaiting for the door-opener, she attempts to conceal her presence (Stealth: 20)

Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 14/14 AC:12/12/10
Tuesday January 26th, 2016 5:39:19 AM

Pesmer nods to Martisan as she asks to ask a spell upon him and the rest of the team, gaining the magical benefit as he looks onward toward their destination. Coming up upon the warehouse, Pesmer's eyes turn to Stohp's as the Minotaur speaks of them all acting natural, himself silently chuckling at that thought. Two Minotaur, a Halfling, a Half Elf, a Human and a Half Orc all walking down the quiet street together. Nothing suspicious about that.

Taking up position behind Martisan, (X40), Pesmer readies himself for the possible combat coming forth. Choosing not to cast any spells as of yet, he waits to make sure danger is actually present before he wastes his resources.

Norr (David S.) HP: 25/25 AC: 18 T: 11 FF: 16 CMB :+6
Tuesday January 26th, 2016 10:30:23 AM

Norr takes up a position near the door, but not right in front of it. (AB 39) He declines Micah's offer of enlarging, suggesting to wait until it's clearly needed or practical.

He watches Martisan and Agrippa search for and deal with traps as necessary with some concern.
