Sedar the Mage
Thursday September 9th, 1999 11:11:44 PM

Totally intrigued by what he sees, the mage will appraoch with the Duke to see more of this torso shaped object "my, my, ........ what have we here. " rather speechless, overcome by curiosity, "some sort of suit ?"

Draax
Thursday September 9th, 1999 11:36:37 PM

Draax thanks Lothar for the rings. "Thanks you sir, can you tell us what the rings do?." He shares Branze enthusiasm about getting the rings. "Finally, hopefully the others were as successful as we were."

Galahad Quivelio
Thursday September 9th, 1999 11:36:38 PM

Galahad waits for K'isst to return from underwater. As he watches her walk back towards him and Leif, Galahad calls out, "so how was it? Do you think it's worth obtaining for our use?"

Arien
Friday September 10th, 1999 3:17:16 AM

Arien pretends that he has no interest in the torso but is quickly attempting to calculate the value of such an object. He moves in for a closer look and says to quietly himself, "Quite remarkable really, and quite valuble I'm sure." Turning to the Duke he says, "As my friend has stated we plan to go beneath the waves and retrieve the sentinel head, be the legends true or not the common folk beleive they are. But to be able to rescue the head we need means of breathing underwater. Does this artifact have the power to allow us to, and if so, might we borrow it. We shall return it of course after we retrieve the head."

Bill T
Friday September 10th, 1999 1:57:37 PM

Bill looks around. If there is no one nearby to listen, he'll talk there. If there are ears about, he'll suggest they choose another spot to talk. Then he says, "I think you might have potential. But in spying, there are many things to learn. So, no killing or stealing for now." Bill speaks in a very serious tone of voice, some hardness in his eyes. "I need to test you, to see how you do with simple things. We'll see where you go from there. Understand, Merik?"

He scans the boy's face until he sees a willingness to comply. "Okay, here are the first two things. I want you to get a list together of all the places that people could hide from an attack from the air. An attack by ..." and Bill lowers his voice, and whispers, "flying beasts, maybe even dragons. The more good places you find, the greater will be your reward. So, hiding places for people. Places that can't catch fire will get you a bonus. Got it? Nearby hiding places. Cellars, tunnels, caves, strong stone buildings, whatever.

"Second, I want you to find out what the various members of the militia are doing. Who guards well? Who gets drunk on duty, or sleeps, or gambles? What kinds of rotations are there? How do they relay information?" Bill says, "Now, while you're doing all this, you need to figure out how to keep a low profile. That is, a spy does what he does without making it obvious. So, whadda you think? Hiding places, militia habits?"

If Merik seems to understand, and is willing, Bill will give him twenty silver pieces, and three gold pieces. "This is to help you get some of the information you need. If you have a friend or two you trust, they can help. One more thing. Don't tell anybody you're a spy. Tell them, let's see..." Bill scratches his head. "Ah! I know, tell them you are a researcher for me. Researcher. Safety researcher, if you like. It means the same as spy, but sounds better to people. Say it after me. Re-search-er. Again. Re-search-er. Safety researcher. Good."

Friday September 10th, 1999 11:52:09 PM

Looking more than a bit disapointed that he wont be killing anyone or robbing them blind, Merik is more than willing and happy to do Bill's bidding and even goes so far as to say right off that he new of several cool places. When the money was handed over to him, his hand was trembling so much that he almost dropped it. You're gonna trust me wit all this? As Bill explains what the money is for a big grin spreads over Meriks face as he eagerly nods and say yeah I know all about bribe money. When do you want me to start? K'isst is happy with the Trident and how it works. And Lief is happy with the deal he made. The duke walks up to the tble and reaches to he left side of the Chest and presses something and the whole front of the chest swings open to the right, showing a glistening heart, a lung, a space for a second lung, and a bunch of coiled greyish shiny intestines. Both Arion and Sedar can literally see the magical auras of each body part. Lothar looks at Draxx and Branze and says these rings are both rings of water breathing. To activate them you must turn them one full rotation and say inhale.

Galahad Quivelio
Friday September 10th, 1999 11:52:10 PM

Galahad looks at K'isst, "I am glad that you are satisfied with the trident. Now, I suggest we take a look around here and see if we might find anything else of some use, then we can head back to the Inn and see how everyone else has made. Agreed?" Turning to Leif, "We thank you for letting us use your trident. I'm sure K'isst will make the arangments of the deal. Alemi thanks you good sir, and wishes you all the best."

Bill T
Saturday September 11th, 1999 2:33:18 AM

"Meet me at Grog's Inn this evening, let's say an hour past when the sun sets. If I'm not there, wait for me if you can. When do you start?" Bill repeats Merik's question. "What are you standing here for? Get going!" He turns to Rond. "Actually, I don't think you're daft at all, Rond. After you!" he says, waving his hand toward the entrance to the House of the Crystal Sphere. He follows Rond up the steps [if there are any steps].

Rond
Saturday September 11th, 1999 5:03:44 PM

"I was hoping you didn't think that. But we're going to have to talk sometime about this bribe money stuff" Rond states the previous in a manner similar to mumbling. You're unsure whether he's not speaking up, or complaining ( ;) )

Draax
Sunday September 12th, 1999 4:30:10 AM

Draax thanks Lothar again for rings and for the way to activate them. He heads back to the inn with Branze. "OK, now we know that we have items for at least 3 of us, if the others got items as well, we should be ready to finally go after the head." For the first time Draax actually starts to believe that they have a chance to retrieve the head.

Branze Bones
Sunday September 12th, 1999 8:32:12 PM

"THank you Lothar. Yes Draxx lets get to teh beach." he says as he tels the barebder to tell there friends where they have went should they happen to come back to the inn. "Great, let us go by the prison first we need to release the creatures so we have a way to follow them to there home, unless there are big drag marks on the sea florr it may be tough to find with out being lead.

Sedar the mage
Monday September 13th, 1999 9:05:00 PM

Somewhat taken aback by the complexity of the item in front him, that he simply tries to get a real good look at everthing "Just what can this do my kind Sir Duke" newly impressed with the Duke, knowing that some how he came own this item.

Monday September 13th, 1999 10:59:03 PM

As Bill and Rond enter the shop, the first things they notice are the sweet smell of incense and the hunreds of candles that are lighting the single room. just as their eys are adjusting to the light change they hear a soft gravelly voice say. "Enter Ronderiadshal and Master Troublefinder, I have been awaiting your visit all day. Enter and tell me what I can do for you?" As Sedar and Arion stare at this almost gruesome chest, The duke looks up at them and says. I think that any of these items might be of service to you, The heart will heal any and all wounds upon a body so long as the body with the wounds is not truely dead. The intestines, function as an extremely strong and supple magical rope. But it is the lung that I think might aid you most in your recent excursion. When worn hung around ones neck it supplies all the necessary breathable air needed for survival, no matter if the wearer be under water or surrounded by smoke or even caught in the void. K'isst and Galahad hang around for a few more moments and ascertain that there is nothing else here of interest for them. Branze and Draxx finish talking with Lothar and the bartender and head off to the beach head. Current time is about 5 PM

Galahad Quivelio
Monday September 13th, 1999 10:59:04 PM

Galahad turns towards K'isst, "Well I think that there is nothing left for us to do. I think we should go back to the inn and see how everyone else is doing. Agreed?" Galahad then begins to walk towards the inn to find out how everyone did, hoping they did as well as he and K'isst...

Arien
Tuesday September 14th, 1999 3:26:18 AM

"Indeed that is a powerful ability. Does the device require any special upkeep or commands to allow it to function or does it have effect constantly?" Arien moves a little closer so that he might examine it better. "What terms are there on this, what must we do to be allowed to take this upon our journey?"

Draax
Tuesday September 14th, 1999 5:48:37 AM

Heads towards the beach with Branze.

Bill Troublefinder
Wednesday September 15th, 1999 11:25:01 AM

Bill marks the longer version of Rond's name she gives him. "Yes, hello." Bill face shows genuine respect. "You must have Sight to know that we were coming, wise Lady of this house," he begins. "Since you knew this, you also must know of the events at the Ceremony, and our intent to retrieve the stolen head of the Sentinel from the sahuagin sea devils under the sea."

Rond
Wednesday September 15th, 1999 7:15:15 PM

Rond raises an eyebrow at the mention of his formal name. But lets Bill take center stage.

Sedar the Mage
Wednesday September 15th, 1999 8:11:01 PM

concurs with Arien's comments

Dm (Hag)
Thursday September 16th, 1999 5:02:41 PM

The Hag looks at Bill and then Rond as Bill speaks. Of course I know of what transpired at the Ceremony, but as to intent.... who knows? i know that you wish to help, but I don't believe you realize what it is that you would attempt to do. Know this. As sure as you would help this hamlett, know that impulsivisity will surely get some or all of you killed. That which you disbelieve is real and that which you believe well... may be false. I believe that you have come for my broach? It has not been used in years, not since Atomas was entombed. I suppose it still works. Ah i have spoken to much and your time is limited, though you know it not.

Dm (Hag)
Thursday September 16th, 1999 5:06:13 PM

Terms? Is this a surrender then? bring back the Head and the use of the Lung is yours. I would ask that you try to protect it and return it if at all possible. It is delicate and can be puntured. I would hate for you to be deep underwater and suddenly be sucking water like a fish. I expect you would find that quite.... disconcerting.

DM
Thursday September 16th, 1999 5:08:08 PM

K'isst and Galahad head back to the inn and at the edge of the town meet Draxx and Branze heading towards the sentinel area. the sky is rapidly clouding up and it looks like rain is imminent.

DM (Hag)
Thursday September 16th, 1999 5:12:20 PM

After speaking with Bil for a moment, she turns her black whiteless eyes toward Rond and says, don't be so surprised that I know your full name, I know many things that people think that noone knows. Be wary of those you might think aim to aid you. False words ring with the sound of truth to those who do not listen. Be wary, be watchful and most of all be circumspect.

Branze Bones
Thursday September 16th, 1999 5:12:21 PM

::looking at the others:: "We have three devices to brearth water. It is about time we release the sea devils and follow them." he says with a stern look. "Did you get any breathing gear your self?" he looks at them as they move towards the beach with the hope that they did.

Sedar the Mage
Thursday September 16th, 1999 8:16:57 PM

"Well that is so very kind Sir. It will go well used. Thank you." Sedar then, with Arien's help, carries the items back to the Inn.

Galahad Quivelio
Thursday September 16th, 1999 8:16:58 PM

Galahad looks at Branze and Draxx, "Well, you two have done quite good....we have found one device that will probably come in good use.-" Pointing towards K'isst, -"Thanks to K'isst we have received a trident that will allow the user to breath underwater, as well as supplying him/her with a weapon. Quite usefull I imagine, especially where we are going."

Bill T
Friday September 17th, 1999 1:47:42 AM

"Well, if we don't realize what we attempt to do, do you realize what it is?" Bill begins. Then his train of thought shifts. "Oh! I was thinking, too, last night I had a dream about a giant. He was underwater, fighting a big shark. The shark swam around and around, and the giant got encased in stone from his legs on up. He was asking for help, I think. The giant seemed good. Well, it's hard to tell in a dream sometimes..." The hobbit looks up, curiosity on his face. "What do YOU think about our going for the Sentinel's head? It seems like a good idea to us. Do you think it's impulsive?" He listens to her answer. It seems to him like this is a woman who understands much, and he decides to ask her about an incident that bothers him. "Um, something else happened today I didn't like very much. Br... uh, a guy we know put some really really hot metal on two of the sahuagin, to make a mark on them? I didn't feel very good about that. Will something bad happen to me because I didn't stop him? Course, they kinda talked pretty strange and woeful-like. But even though they helped steal the head, and attacked us, I don't think that ... well, it just seemed ... I mean, he explained like it all made good sense ... oh, it makes me feel terrible, anyway." He blushes. He shuffles his feet. Then he asks, "Who is, uh, who was Atomas? Where was he entombed? Was he really big? Did he use the brooch himself, or did somebody use it to try to help him? How does the brooch work? What does it do?" He pauses, to see if Rond has any questions he hasn't thought of. Then he poses his final pair of questions for the moment. "Do you know how limited our time is? Would it be against the rules to tell us?"

Draax
Saturday September 18th, 1999 8:03:18 AM

Draax addresses Galahad, "That is good new, the trident will be very useful in K'isst's hands. Both of the rings that Lothar loaned us are rings of waterbreathing." He holds up one of his fingers to should the ring that he is wearing, while handing the other one to Galahand. "To activate it you must turn it one full rotation and say inhale."

Rond
Monday September 20th, 1999 9:24:55 AM

"I have had a similar dream"

K'isst
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:07 AM

K'isst stops by Ruthat's on the way back and buys a normal trident. Then she returns quickly wondering why everyone is so scared of a little rain when they are just about to traverse the floor of Dragon Bay. She takes the normal trident to the fishermen and gives him the 50 gp from her own supply of gold without letting him see the rest. As she turns to go, she asks him a final question, "Just how long does this trident let you breathe underwater? What's the longest time you've spent breathing with the trident? Has it ever stopped working?" She tries to ascertain the time limits of the trident's powers. After this she makes her way to Grog's Inn watching the sky, but not for rain.

Sedar the Mage
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:08 AM

making it back to the Inn Sedar moves quickly to his room to hid the cloak covered item. After a short time he goes queitly down to see the barkeep for a queit question "Tell me kind sir" smiling as he speaks "would there be a local historian or sage of history of windhorn that could bve spoken to" After asking he will place a few coin on the bar and enjoy a draft awaiting an answer.

DM (Hag)  d100=6
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:09 AM

At the mention of the treatment the sahuagin recieved, The hag shakes her head and simply says, impulsive deeds come for lack of thinking. The broach is one of freedom under water, It allows a person to move and breathe under water as if he/she were in their normal element. To activate it it needs to be pinned over the heart and then the pearl must be depressed inward. As for the rest, that is part of what you must discover. look for truth in dreams but be wary of being decieved.

DM  d100=6
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:10 AM

The duke looks at Arion and Sedar, as if sizing them up and then says. The lung will work as long as it is worn and needed. when it is nolonger needed or deactivated it needs a full day to recharge. The heart will but work once per week. As for the intestines, I see know practical use for that on this venture but i do not like to separate them from the chest as that is where the items must recharge.

DM  d100=6

Leif, looks at Kisst and says well I've never had no problem with it though, I taint never tried being under water mor'n a few hours at a time. Later As K'isst, Galahad, Branze and Draxx meet out in front of Grog's, Capt. Bearclaw comes around the corner carrying a just larger than headsized glass bowl. " Ahh good I'm glad I caught you. Here is the helm I told you about. Just place it over your head like a great helm and you are able to breathe normally under water. Just as he finishes telling you about the helm you hear the unmistakable sound of a cart coming up the road. As it comes into view a very familiar diminuative figure is seated next to the cart's driver. The cart is being driven by Berik Andovin. The passenger is none other than Borbo.

Bill T
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:12 AM

"May I ask if there is anything we can do for you in exchange for use of your brooch on this expedition? And, is there anything else at all you can tell us about Atomas? I know that it's part of your way to be inscrutable, but my guess is that you mentioned his name for a purpose. And, wise lady of this house, how shall we address you? You know our names..."

Rond
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 8:57:13 AM

Rond will wait to hear what her response is to Bill's question(s).

Borbo
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 9:46:56 AM

Hopping down from the cart, "Why thank you Berik. Thanks indeed. Sorry about that whole misunderstanding. Now if ever you need anything from don't hesitate to ask. You remember my name? Borbo. Borbo Pastna. I can generally be found in Windhorn. Well, thanks again. I see my friends over there. So, I best be on my way. Goodbye. So long." Borbo wanders over to Bill, "Hey you miss me? What have you guys been doing? Did you go chase those water people yet? You remember the ones that popped up during the ceremony to renew the sentinel and stole the head. I hope you gave them what for. I sure wish I could've been a part of it. What are you guys doing now?... are those intestines?"

Draax
Tuesday September 21st, 1999 11:34:38 AM

Looks over at Borbo. "Welcome back. No we have not went after the head yet, you came back just in time. We were just finishing gathering some items to help us before we leave."

K'isst
Wednesday September 22nd, 1999 12:12:17 PM

K'isst returning to Grog's Inn sees Borbo and gives him a big Trog Hug crushing him to her. Then she calls for Grog and asks for a private room since she's a lady and for a bath to be readied in the room with plenty of extra towels. Then she sidles up to Bill and says, "Hey Bill. I figure with you being so friendly and all that you've made some friends today. I need someone to...." She continues whispering in his ear. (see email)

Branze Bones

"We have enough water breathing gear. Time is of the essance lets find the others of the group and make it under water.

Galahad Quivelio
Wednesday September 22nd, 1999 12:12:19 PM

Seeing Borbo, Galahad quickly greets him, "Welcome back Borbo, haven't quite seen you for awhile."- Turning to the rest of the group of people, - "Let's go into the inn, order a few drinks, and wait for the rest of the group to show." Galahad then goes into the inn, sits by the fire (Knowing that he will not be able to enjoy the heat of one underwater) and orders a glass of wine and a plate of food.

K'isst
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:50 AM

"Hmm...." K'isst thinks to herself for a second. I was just discussing with Bill here a plan for testing the items, but Branze is right. I keep on thinking like a princess--someone responsible for other's safety, instead of an adventurer. The safe thing to do would be to test the items before proceeding. The BRAVE thing to do would be to leave now. Let's have a toast and be on our way!

DM Kent
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:51 AM

The hag looks at Bill as if she is thinking, and then slowly says, "Young Troublefinder, I have not been called by a name in more years than I remember. I don't even truly recall if I ever was given a name. As for what you can do for the use of my broach is to succeed and remember the words I have spoken." At that point she flips her hand your way and suddenly she isn't there. Bill and Rond head back to Grog's. As Borbo gives his thanks and good-byes to Mr Andovin, Berik draws back on the reins and stops his horses again and says, "Ahh I almost forgot, this is for your use in your venture," and tosses a small pouch to Borbo and then drives onward. As Galahad sits by the fireplace the night shift waitress comes up to take your order. She is a bit flirty and winks at you as she leaves to place your order. Grog looks up from behind the bar as Sedar asks his question. "A Sage? In this backwater hamlet? Not likely. As for Historians check with some of the oldsters if you want local history. You'll find them playing cards every morning down near the market. By the time everyone is back at Grog's it is nearing 7 pm.

Sedar the mage
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:52 AM

After hearing Grog's reply "thank you again I think I'll go down and see them tomorrow morn." He then moves over to sit with Galahad to enjoy some wine and dinner. as he sees triple B he "Branze we still need a few more items to make to whole group make it under." then turns back to Galahad "I better game some rest to recover some spell if we are to leave soon"

Rond
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:53 AM

Rond will come into Grog's and pull up a chair. Ordering food of the usual fare, he waits for Bill to relate what they've found.

Draax
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:54 AM

Draax takes a sit at the table in the inn and orders himself something to eat.

Bill T
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:55 AM

Bill takes the brooch the Hag gave them. After they leave her place and are walking to Grog's Inn, he talks with Rond. "She doesn't even know if she ever was given a name? That's amazing. I thought everyone had a name. Y'know, I think a good name for her would be Judith. It seems to be a good name for someone who is wise and brave. Course, it's a good name for someone who's beautiful, too. Well, I can't say she's beautiful, I suppose. But she seems to care, at least. And maybe she used to be beautiful, but just grew out of it, or somethin'. Anyway, she's kind, and that beats looks almost any day in my book." Bill chatters on to Rond as they walk to the Inn. "Oh, I agree with you about the bribe thing. I don't want someone paying somebody money to make them do something wrong. That's just bad. So I shoulda explained that to Merik, I suppose. But you'll have to admit, at least I got him off the idea of stealing or killing for the moment. And, I think it's okay to pay someone to do good stuff. What do you think, Ronderiadshal?"

Bill T
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:56 AM

About to natter on about something else, Bill sees his cousin getting off the wagon. "Scuse me, Rond." He runs over. "Borbo! Borborino! Where have you been all day? You ... what? Have we gone after them? Did someone knock you out? We were talking this morning, and were going to go out shopping, then you disappeared." Bill feels Borbo's forehead. "Hmmm, no fever." He joins all as they enter Grog's Inn. "You go for a hayride?" he asks, pulling a straw off Pastna's back.

Arien
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:57 AM

Arien looks around at the others, "So exactly what are we goin up against, it would help to know so I can plan acordingly. I would also like to thank you all for accepting me into your group, I know how hard it can be to trust people, strangers especially. Well anywho I just wanted a little idea of what I'm going into before I head off for the big beautiful bed waiting for me."

Bill T (at Grog's Inn)
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:58 AM

"Hey, Borbo, that was Berik Andovin, right?" He stares at the back of the man driving his cart off. "More help from the family," he comments to no one in particular.

Inside, the halfling listens to K'isst's whisper. "That tickles," he says at first, and scratches his ear, but then listens to the rest of her suggestion. "Well, yeah, maybe... I'm waiting for someone to show up soon, anyhow."

"We didn't contact Esmerelda Fipps yet. Or go to the Chapel of Mittiri for potions, or the Chapel of Wardd for scrolls. But, the lady of the House of the Crystal Sphere gave us something," and he shows the group the brooch (or broach, if you prefer). "You can move and breathe underwater just fine with it, if you know the trick," he says. "What else did we get? And, can someone check on Esmerelda, and the two chapels before it gets too late? Knock on doors. I've gotta stay here. Waitin' for someone. And, what do you all say about leaving early in the morning? I think we're almost ready, and I agree we shouldn't dawdle, but there are a few more things to do."

Bill takes of big bite of whatever food is about, and washes it down with some ale. "Quick ideas: Waterproof spell pages. Bring fresh drinking water in one and three gallon skins. Branze's idea of a fair amount of rope is good. Ask people to pray for us. Let's get at least one more net. One more speargun, too, plus 20 arrows? Spellcasters, get to sleep early if you can. Do we have any redundancy on underwater survival aids, in case one of our devices goes bad? Any other ideas friends?" Bill looks around to see if Capt. Bearclaw is around, or if Merik has shown up yet.

Bill T (at Grog's Inn)
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 8:37:59 AM

"Oh, one more thing." Bill pulls out a piece of parchment with some writing on it. "With what everyone has contributed, we've got 4,795 gold pieces left, plus everyone who got a reward has 500 gold each for themselves. Unless you spent some I don't know about. Except Borbo - you still have 5,000 gold, because you weren't around to tell us what you wanted to do with it. Ruthat might have a good weapon or something to sell you." Bill nods to Arien. "Hi, I'm Bill. Ask K'isst or Sedar. I'm about talked out." And he attacks his food with zest.

Borbo
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 10:49:34 AM

"5000 GOLD!?!" Borbo sits speechless for a moment, then he looks in the bag from Berik.

Borbo
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 10:50:41 AM

As Borbo sits staring into the bag he asks, "Would someone other than Bill quickly explain to me what's going on and what our plans are?"

Galahad Quivelio
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 5:59:46 PM

Galahad turns towards Sedar, "I agree, I believe I need to do some studying before I get any rest. I have a feeling tomorrow will be a big day, especially where we are going. But for now I think I'll just enjoy this glass of wine and food...."

Branze Bones
Thursday September 23rd, 1999 5:59:47 PM

"I am going to the beech to see if this cloak works and to see if the sea floor holds obvious drag marks we can follow to the head. "He says as he walks out the door of the inn.

Rond
Friday September 24th, 1999 5:18:37 PM

"Well, if you are going to go to the beach Branze, I'll grab something and go with you... so you won't be alone."

K'isst
Friday September 24th, 1999 10:23:27 PM

We should this this underwater thing settled before bed if we can. Sedar, exactly how many items do we have? Have we checked out the merchants here for the Carnival? I can go check out the temples if you like? Coming Gala? She makes the rounds to the temples and then returns as soon as possible.

Borbo opens the pouch and Lo and Behold there is a golden braclett inside. If you look at it closely in the right light it seems to have a porpoise etched lightly on the surface. Those who want to eat may. Those who wish rest and study time may as well. Branze and Rond make their way in the rain to the sentinel beech and just as they get there, they notice there are no guards to be seen, and as they look out over the ocean they see several darts of light in the sky, that almost look like flames. K'isst makes her way to the two temples and for a small donation of 2500 gold, to the churches can get 3 water breathing scrolls and 6 water breathing potions. As Bill mentions Esmerelda Fipps, the waitress pauses and asks What do you want old Ezzy for? She works here, for Grog, you know? moments later this young lad none of you has seen before bumps into Bill, and Bill feels him place something into his pocket.

Looking thoughtfully upward. The mage replies to k'isst "lets see how many ...hmmmm.. tristan's cloak .... thats one .... the Hags' broach .. two ...Dukes's chest .. ahh I mean lung I guess .. three ... Lothar's two rings ..... thats four and five ..... The Capt's Helm ... makes six ..... the fishermans trident ... seven .... I see Borbo has a braclet ...eight then.... And if we can come by Fipp's item that'll be nine. that covers all of us ..... holy smoke I think we got everything covered, K'isst you mention that potions and scrolls, we can use those as backup then." a smile crosses the 1/2 elfs face as things just seem to have worked out. "I good nights rest to study and I think we can go"

Bill takes a look to see what was left in his pocket.

Draax
Monday September 27th, 1999 2:44:58 AM

Draax sits at the table finishing his meal as he listens to Sedar give a count of the items collected. Since it is a good bet that they will head out the next morning, he bids everyone a goodnight and goes to his room.

Arien
Monday September 27th, 1999 3:15:10 AM

Arien listens to the count of items as he finishes his meal. After he finishes the meal he bids the remaining people good night and goes to his room to study before going to sleep.

Borbo
Monday September 27th, 1999 6:33:06 PM

Borbo slips on the bracelet, and since he's been hearing so much about water breathing, he decideds to check it out. He grabs a big glass of water and sticks his nose down in it and sees if he can breathe water with it or just suck water into his nose and lungs.

[OOC: Rond, Bill has the brooch. If you asked him for it, he'd give it to you, but ask, "Is it all right with you if I use it when we go out tomorrow? I don't want to be selfish or anything, and if you really want it, I won't argue. But it has something to do with Atomas, and he has something to do with the giant, I think, if he's not the giant himself.]

As Rond and Branze are down by the beach the tests seem to go well though Branze is a bit unnerved by the actions of the cloak as it molds to the contours of his body creating a manta ray. Borbo's test goes a bit less well and he snorts a large noseful of water that leaves him hacking and coughing. Bill carefully feels in his pocket and feels two things. One is a bit slimy and proves to be one of the frogs eggs and algae balls, the other is a hastily scrawled note. It says, 'Can't meet being followed have found several places see you as soon as possible.' The others sleep or study as is their wish.

As Bill finishes reading the waitress comes up again and, pointing to an old lady carrying a pile of linens to the back, says, "That's Ole Ezy," and she hurries off. Those at the beach notice many more of those flamelike things in the sky though these seem to be closer than the others. It is now 9PM.

[ooc the intent was to grab an 'underwater' item for testing, so that Branze would not be alone. So I'll end up taking something else}

[Okay, Rond. Thanks!] Bill slaps Borbo between the shoulder blades a few raps to help him clear out his lungs. "Too much air mixed in, cuz," he says with a bemused smile. After Borbo catches his breath (in the seven to nine timeslot), Bill briefly fills him in on what's been going on, and asks, "What do you think about getting someone to go with you over to Ruthat's place to get yourself just a bit more outfitted? If you want to, get a magic sword, or net, or speargun - Rond and I can kinda show you how to use it. Or somethin' else useful. It's late, but, I'll bet you can talk him into takin' some of your hard-earned money, eh? Up to you, though Borbo."

"Waterproofing of spell pages, anyone? Any ideas for the benefit of Sedar and Arien and anyone else, like us with the scrolls that K'isst picked up? Eh? Wax? Paraffin? Magic? Who can help?"

"K'isst - would you be willing to ask good Esmerelda Fipps over there about what item she has that might help us?"

"Captain Bearclaw. Good evening, sir. Busy day, busy day. If you have a minute ... sit down for a moment, if you care to." If he does, Bill begins, "First, thank you for your help, and providing the helmet that one of us might use in our foray." Bill sips on the juice he ordered. "Please, miss, provide the Captain here with whatever he likes." Bill pays for it, with a good tip.

He looks up at Mary's father. His voice drops so that, with the general noise of the inn, only the captain or the particularly keen-eared can hear. [And if the captain knows a private place, Bill is willing to relocate there.] "You know Berik Andovin, of course. Well, his son was introducing me to one of his games. Quite amusing, I assure you." The halfling pulls the frog egg & algae ball out of his pocket to discretely show Bearclaw, then returns it to his pocket. "Anyway, I thought I might put his enterprising spirit to use in defense of the city. He seems adept at moving about the town. He is compiling a list of hiding places in and around Windhorn Hamlet. I'd appreciate it if you would humor me, and keep an eye on the boy. He has capacity for mischief, but that talent might be turned for the good. I've enlisted him as a safety researcher, or investigator of sorts." Bill winks at the captain. "Sense of adventure, you know."

Another sip, and a bite of pie. "Now this might be a sensitive topic, and some of the militia are quite alert, but shortcomings were noted in the diligence and vigilance of a few today. A couple of them might nap off, or get a nip or two while they're supposed to be watchin' the coast. Well, the boy and a few friends are checking into that a bit at my request. Now, I'd meant to run this by you, but this is the first chance I've had. Please forgive me if it seems presumptuous, but I know how you care for the town, and I think you know how I care for it. Anyway, I just learned that someone's tailing our investigator, and was wonderin' if you'd be willing to make sure nothing untoward happens to the lad once we take the plunge. Maybe you can come up with some tasks to keep him busy, if you ken my meaning. Maybe he can be eyes and ears for you, and help figure out ways to keep people safe when, or if, the dragons come.

"The lady at the House of the Crystal Sphere said our time is short. I think part of what she means is that the dragons won't stay far off for long. Anyway, I'm heading outside now to check on the boy's welfare. Thanks for listening." Bill will wait for Capt. Bearclaw's reply, and respond appropriately. "Borb, or Galahad. Want to go for a little walk?" He'll head outside, and look for Merik, or his stalker, or...?

Galahad Quivelio
Wednesday September 29th, 1999 4:31:48 AM

Galahad finishes his meal as a sense of loneliness overwhelms him. In a daze and thinking of the past, Galahad hears Bills offer and agrees to accompany him on a short walk. "I would be glad to join you Bill. I need some fresh air anyways, as well as the exercise." Grinning, Galahad gets up from his chair and follows Bill outside.
