Advice from the Platinum Dragons

Monthor  d20=15
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 7:16:28 AM

Monthor takes a deep drink from his beer mug, whipes his mouth with his sleeve and announces.

" Monthor be me name! Monthor of the Axe Head Clan me be. Me keep knives from sprouting from the backs of these other ones. And appearently, me job is NOT wenching and brawling."

And with that, Monthor stomps the floor once, drains the remainder of his beer and crushes the mug in his hand (strenght check 15).

ooc> The equivalent of crushing a beer can on his head I'm sur.

Tratain
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 8:25:34 AM

At the Castle Tratain says to the servitor My Name is Tratain, My friends are Monthor who Introduced himself already, as well as Renik, Draax, Arien, Feng, Jasper, Sarigar and his wolf brother Black Paws. We have recently learned some information about the Fey King and we need to relate it to those in power so that a course of action can be decided.

Feng
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 9:37:47 AM

So it has begun, Feng thinks to himself as he rides upon his summoned mount through the city. First the chickens refuse to lay eggs and next cows will refuse to give milk. Even if this Fae King does not attack the human cities it condems them nonetheless. Hopefully the Platinum Dragons will have some insight for them.

Renik
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 2:41:40 PM

"The hens have stopped laying? That is odd. One would have thought with nature run amok they would do nothing but lay. Whilst the natural habitats of the Wold seem to be thriving this news augers ill for the cities."

Renik bows a fraction when he is introduced to the doorman by Tratain. "We understand how busy the Platinum Dragons must be right now, but we believe this news to be of great significance. We would be grateful if you would announce that the Windhorn Hamleteers, lately attatched to the Plateau City Secret Service, are here with news that must be heard."

Draax
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 3:20:21 PM

Draax wonders what the significance of the Gold Dragons changing their name. Did they go up in stature, gain more members, or something else? Maybe the group will find out if they get a chance to see them.

At the Dragon Castle, Draax stares at Monthor and the first thing that comes to his mind is 'weird' and then he thinks that maybe going drinking with the dwarf is not such a good idea. Tratain's introduction brings his attention back to the servitor and Draax gives a small nod of his head when his name is mentioned.

Father Nicholas Valentine - Platinum Dragons
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 3:30:24 PM

(Tall, lean, 30'ish, dark hair, tidy beard, dressed in traditional white robes of an Alemi cleric.)

Walking past the entrance as the Hamleteers arrive, Nick overhears their request, drops whatever he was doing and approaches the door.

"Welcome," he says, giving them a warm smile. "I'm Father Nicholas. Please, do come in."

He'll lead them to the dining room and ask their butler Flabersham to accomodate them with food and drink. Hopefully some of the other Dragons were around, too.

[DM Cayzle OOC]
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 3:43:06 PM

[Many thanks to DM Jan and the Platinum Dragons for taking the time to come on over to our board for a little pow-wow. Hamleteers, please include a sentence or two in your post to tell what you look like as relevant. If it is okay with Jan, for so long as this mini-crossover lasts (a few days, I'm thinking?), feel free to post more than once a day. Let's be efficient and not take up more of the Dragons' time than we need to! Again, welcome, Dragons, and thanks! Oh, and if any Dragon cannot post to this board, let me know asap at cayzle@yahoo.com]

Sarigar and Black Paws  d4+4=6 d4=4 d4=1 d4=4 d4=4 d4=3 d4=1
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 3:59:57 PM

As they pass by the street vendor, Sarigar gladly takes a pie for himself and two for his brother, he tosses a small assortment of coins (2pp, 0gp, 1sp, 4cp) on the counter and walks off with their meals.

When they reach the castle, Sarigar has his face planted in the pie tin, licking the remnants of the pie from within. Black Paws all but swallowed each pie in a bite and is still licking his chops.

When asked for his name, Sarigar lifts his now filthy face, mouth full to the point where he can barely be understood, "Sarigar" he says, pointing at himself with his thumb. "Brother, Black Paws" he says scratching Black Paws behind the ears. Noticing that he's accidentially spit some of his food on the Father, he picks it off of him carefully, with an innocent smile he says, "Sorry." then licks the food from his fingers.

As he finishes the last of his pie, he stands there a moment looking at the empty pan. He then looks around as if wondering what to do with it. He spies a potted plant and proceeds to bury the pan in the pot. He steps up with the others, shaking his fingers causing drops of dirt and gloppy food bits to fly about, then wipes his face with the full length of his sleeve.

Before the butler arrives with drink, Sarigar starts fidgeting the inside of his mouth with his tongue. Looking around again, he pulls the vase of flowers toward him from the middle of the table. He sniffs inside, the promptly pulls the flowers out and starts guzzling water out of it. He then holds it up for his brother to lap out what he can.

He finally realizes that all eyes seem to be on him. He glances about nervously. After several moments he innocently asks, "What?"

Mordrid
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 5:56:45 PM

Mordrid is tending to one of the estate's horses. Apparently its hoof is infected. The old ranger examines the wound while calming the equine with a gentle hum; when Flabersham bolts through the stable doors out of breath.

Flabersham, chest heaving, "There you are! Sir, you have guests. They request an audience."

Mordrid, "Who are they," he asks, his cocked sideways.

Flabersham, "The Hamleteer's Sir."

Mordrid begins toweling his hands off. "Tell them I will be right there."

Mordrid attempts to contact Valdor via his ear-piece. "Valdor, we have company in the meeting chamber. Apparently the Hamleteer's have urgent news."

Mordrid makes his way to the main castle thru the kitchen doors; gently kicking a cranky hen off the back door step, "Out of the way my friend. Porches are reserved for hens that lay."

Tratain
Tuesday May 24th, 2005 7:19:31 PM

Tratain follows Father Nicholas to the meeting room with the others and says Thank you Sir, for seeing us so quickly. Much is happening, we have some information to relate, and if you will indulge us, we will need council on what should be done.

Tratain stands just under 6 feet tall. His hair is Blonde and cut short. Once at the meeting room he unslings his Large Shield and lays it against his Chair. He unclips His Adamantite warhammer and props it against his shield and hangs his haversack over the back of his chair and sits and waits for all those who are comming before looking for some sign that the Hamleteers should begin telling what they have learned.

He enjoys a drink while waiting and can't help but smile at Sarigar and Black Paws antics.

Valdor
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 12:03:41 AM

After a few minutes, a huge man walks in. Not huge necessarily from his height, nor weight, but he's a couple of inches above six feet and extremely muscled. He's wearing a tight shirt with no sleeves and the stomach area has been cut out to reveal lines of muscle, He is carrying a towel, which he uses to wipe his brow, shoulders, and arms. He's sweating freely and says,"Sorry for being under dressed, but I was exercising and thought it best not to keep such distinguished guests waiting."

He walks over to Renik and bows saying,"It is good to see you again, my friend. The months have done you justice. When all the others have arrived, please tell us your tale. In the meantime, which will not be long I promise, enjoy our hospitality and any food or drink we have to offer.

He picks up a pitcher of water and pours himself a large mug of water, then takes his seat.

Renik
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 1:10:44 AM

The rogue grins at Valdor's greeting. "In times such as these It is even better to see you my friend."

The slender man takes a seat, shrugging with good-natured resignation at Sarigar's antics. He is good-looking in an angular sort of way, though he clearly thinks he is better looking than he really is. He gives the impression of being alert and quick-witted, his eyes constantly on the move. He is pale skinned and clear eyed, and his hair is shoulder length, brown, and well cared for. He sports a small Gargul-styled goattee which he strokes absently as he waits.

He is dressed for city life; black calf length boots, grey trousers, dark grey shirt, black doublet. All are well made, and (upon close inspection) prove to be from some of Plateau City's finest couturiers. The man clearly takes pride in his clothes.

His armour is hidden beneath his outer clothing, a fine mithril chain of astonishing lightness and flexibility. Over this he wears a long grey cloak, and over each shoulder is sheathed one of a matching pair of magical short swords.

He waits for the other Dragons to arrive before he takes up the tale.

Draax
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 3:22:02 AM

(Draax is slim 5'9" half-elf with black hair and hazel colored eyes. Although in his mid twenties he has the look of an average human teenager with some elven features who is just on the verge of manhood. He wears a very fine set of chainmail armor.)

Draax is caught off guard when Father Valentine addresses the group. The half-elven warrior had to admit to himself that he did not really think that the group would be granted an audience. He tries to keep the look of surprise off of his face as he follows the cleric of Alemi into the dining room. Realizing that he has not had any real food to eat in awhile Draax says his thanks for the food then helps himself to something to eat and drink.

Draax picks up Sarigar's money and gives it back to him. He looks at the Dragons hoping they understand while he explains it to Sarigar. "No need to pay Sarigar, the food is a gift."

Tericus
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 6:56:27 AM

a skinny young man with short, curly red hair comes into the castle a few minuets after the Hamletteers enter. he's wearing the robes of Alemi over his chainmail and has a little used mace on his hip. the two oddest things about him is that his shield floats in front of him, and that he's wearing two holy symbols, of of Alemi, and the other not reconizeable.

as he walks it he sees the others talking to Valdor and says "Hello. Who are you?"

Tratain
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 11:34:23 AM

Tratain stands as each of the Dragons enters the meeting room and introduces himself to each of them if they ask.

When everyone is in the room and settled he begins, hopeing he's not pre-empting anyone or any other discussions.

"A short while ago we were asked for help by a Druidic Order called the Templars of The Wild. We Traveled across the Dragon Bay to the forest on the other side to meet with them. We were there when the Meeting of the Elven people took place at the Giggeling Ghost and they allowed us to veiw to gathering. After the meeting we expressed concernes that until the dream, only a handful of people even knew anything about the Fae King, and after the dream a good majority of them wanted to awaken him, even though they knew nothing about him. The Templars suggested we seek out The Pixie Lord, as he knew the Fae King before he went to sleep and he might answer some of our questions."

"We set out to find him and a few days later we found his lake. From our Meeting we learned several things, some of which is inferred but my friends will add thier observations to my own incase they saw things differently. First, he said the Fae King had his own mind, which I took to mean that he'll do what he wants and probably not ask anyone else how they feel about it, which depending on his views may be bad. Second The Fae King and The Pixie Lord were friends and fought Teucri together, but for some reason it sounded like the Fae King attacked the Pixie Lord over something, he didn't elaborate on that much, but it sounded like the Fae King didn't even feel any remorse over it. One of the others may be able to relate exactly what was said. We also Learned that the Pixie Lord was afraid of the Fae King, its never a good sign when you fear someone you call your friend. We asked him several More questions, and learned that The Pixie Lord had no idea why the Fae King went to sleep in the first place, but the only person who may or may not be able to reign him in at all might be his wife, someone Named Queen Maab."

Tratain will wait for any questions then continue.

"On our way Back to the Druids camp we ran into a group of Fae called Hydrae who were awakened with the King. They were building a lake for the King, we did them a favor and they told us a story about the Fae Kings Rebirth. We don't know how much of it to believe but several things stand out. The King was reborn to a halfling mother in a great forest somewhere, he's not a halfling though, he looks like a Satre. Second after his rebirth he grew quickly, and a battle of some kind took place. The Halflings who Traveled with the Halfling woman who bore him and those the Hydrae called "Jealous Guardins" fought with the King. The Hydrae say that they tried to steal the Kings Powers but I'm not sure if I believe that. We don't know why they fought but it seemed clear a fight did happen."

"To top it all off, when we reached the Templars camp again, they had gathered a Large Army of Nature. The Whole forest it seemed came at thier call. There were sprites, Pseudo-Dragons, Unicorns, Dire animals. Those Animals where big, the small ones were 10 feet tall. We saw a bear that was 20 feet tall at least, it shook the ground when it walked. All manner of forest creatures came."

"They are going to Invade the Emerald Kingdom and Depose Parnoth. One of the Templars said as we were leaving that the army would be moveing to the Culverwood Tomorrow."

The parley continues (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 12:39:16 PM

The Hamleteers greet the Dragons and begin to share their news. Those who arrive later are quickly brought up to speed. The conversation begins to take a turn for the serious.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 3:22:49 PM

When Valdor enters the room, Sarigar notes the obvious difference in size between himself and Valdor. Although about the same height, Sarigar doesn't have anywhere near the build. With a questioning look, he glances at Feng, then Valdor, then back to Feng again. It's pretty obvious he's comparing the sizes of the two.

He steps over to Valdor and holds out his meat pied and dirt covered hand for a handshake. Seeing the look of "ugh" in Valdor's eyes when he looks at the hand, he wipes it vigorously on his pant leg which has the palm almost clean. Black Paws steps up behind his brother, placing his chin on top of Sarigar's head and looks a Valdor. Sarigar looks up under his eyebrows as if talking to Black Paws for a moment, then eyes Valdor a bit more closely. "Yep, I think yer right brother. I think that's the biggun that made a speech in the fire room thing. The other elves on that wood hill didn't seem to like that much."

Looking lost as to what he's supposed to do, he finally wanders off aimlessly. About the time he reaches one of the corners he stops as if he suddenly remembered something. "Oh ya! My BIG brothers across the big water said they're gonna help kill some dragon named Parnoth. Said the forest people asked them to. And the brothers here in the, ummm, city, ya, city, said they're gonna go see the green guy, y'know, the tree in the wild place here."

He stops abruptly, giving a look of extreme concentration, then give a defeated look, shrugs his shoulders then plops down on the floor and begins tracing a finger along the floor's patterns.

Nick Valentine - Platinum Dragons
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 3:43:53 PM

"Oh, don't worry about it," Nick tells Sarigar with a grin. Having met the redoubtable Clangden, more than once, the cleric can certainly take a few flecks of pie in his stride.

He remains standing during the meeting, as he is wont to do when he needs to think. Listening to Tratain, he paces back and forth, occasionally rubbing his chin.

By Alemi - Fae Kings and Pixie Lords? Armies of dire animals, unicorns and psuedo dragons?
Nick is human, his skills and vocation are concerned with healing, worship of the God Alemi, and the general wellbeing of all. He is a skilled herbalist, and has studied many aspects of the Wold, but he is beginning to feel way out of his league, here.

And this army was going after Parnoth? And what kind of bloodbath would ensue if that took it's logical course?

His eyes flick toward Valdor as Queen Maab is mentioned. Perhaps that was an avenue of investigation.

"Forgive my ignorance," he asks out loud. "But why are they going after Parnoth in particular?"

Mordrid - Platinum Dragons
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 6:09:55 PM

Mordrid catches the last half of Tratain's story from the back of the hall. The ranger listens and makes himself comfortable as he crosses his arms and leans in the archway; glad that Valdor is receiving them.

The aged human in grey buckskins marvels as Tratain wraps up his tale.

Across the hall to the others echoes the ranger's response, "I envy you all. That was a most wonderous adventure. Ofcourse a new player in the neighborhood, this Fae King, is always cause for alarm. Change begets change. And I'll wager that the strange things that have been happening are related to your tale. Good work Hamleteers. You are the first to bring word to us of anything that has merit. The Highlord Mayor should be made aware of these events. After all, that is who we answer to. Valdor, what say you?"

Draax
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 6:21:29 PM

Draax greets and introduces himself as each additional Dragon that joins the discussion. He listens as Tratain explains their reason for coming. To answer Nick's question about Parnoth Draax says, "If what the Templars of the Wild says in true, Parnoth Faebane has enslaved every elf in his realm. The battle is to free them and retake the land that once belonged to the elves. Whether the Sleeper has actually called them to arms or they are marching out of blind faith is something we do not know. Nature's power has increased tremendously with the awakening and who knows what powers have been given to the druids."

Feng
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 6:30:33 PM

Feng, a large and pwerfully built half orc, stands in the back in gleaming armor. Unlike other half orcs he is quite handsome and carries himself with dignity.

"I believe that the chickens not laying eggs are the first sign of the Fae Kings return. Wether or not his intention is to hurt non elven civilizations he's doing it. Next I suspect the cows will no longer give milk. These simple things can cause great devistation."

Monthor
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 7:07:20 PM

Monthor the Dwarven warrior stands quietly, licking the beer off his knuckles. He wears fine 1/2 plate armor and carries a large, ornemented but obviously much used dwarven war axe. Monthor is a rough looking dwarf and an obvious veteran of numerous battles.Half of his left ear is missing and a scar runs diagonally over his right eye. It is painfully obvious that magical healing was used to fix the eye but the scar remained. Monthor's beard is coal black and braided with a red string.

Being the muscle of the group, Monthor remains silent and lets the others do the talking.

Renik
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 7:33:21 PM

"Tratain speaks true," says Renik. "The Pixie Lord was interesting in his account of the Fae King; he gave the impression that the king is the embodiment of the Fae; playful, mischievous, chaotic, even crazed. My own feeling was that this is was a creature for whom the concepts of Good and Evil were irrelevant. Consequence and effect are not considerations, merely whim and desire.

"Though a great deal of my spirit empathises with such a free nature I am not so naive that I cannot see the dire consequences inherent in such a course. I see massive upheaval and seismic shifts taking place in the very fabric of the Wold, but these changes are not considered or carefully thought out. They are instinctive, even knee-jerk, and I fear the consequence to innocents will be grave indeed. Whilst the destruction of such a creature as the oppressor Parnoth might well be desirable, I fear that a war is being pursued that will have far broader implications than are envisaged by its perpetrators. And everything we have heard thus far of this Fae King suggests that he is of far too whimsical a nature to consider or even care about those repercussions. Feng also makes a valid point; if the rise of nature is beginning to have a detrimental effect on the cities, what future exists for the noble races and their civilizations in this naturist utopia of the Fae King?

"But perhaps the most telling element of the Pixie Lord's comments related to Queen Maab, ruler of the Valleys of Twilight. This Queen was instrumental in the Fae King's original slumber, though she is apparently his wife. Even if the rise of the King is benevolent (which I confess I doubt), it is imperative that we discover the reasons behind this millennia-spanning sleep. Why was it imposed? Ought it to be imposed again? And if it were the case that such a slumber were required, could Queen Maab repeat her feat?

"I am glad that the information we bring you is of use. I would ask two questions of you in return; what do you know of this Queen Maab, and what can we do to assist in learning everything necessary to ensure that current events do not spiral out of control?"

Arien
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 9:28:46 PM

The elven mage does not sit during the story telling but instead paces back and forth is an out of the way area during Tratain's telling. A thin braid of hair hangs down on either side of Arien's face, reaching down to his sturdy adventuring clothes. A longer braid in the back reaches down to mid-back, the braid jump and swing as the mage quickly changes direction is his pacing. Though he remains expressionless it is clear that he is agitated over something.

Valdor
Wednesday May 25th, 2005 11:46:04 PM

Valdor shakes the hand of Sarigar, and he realizes quickly enough that he mis-interpreted the look in Valdor eyes. His eyes shine and there is no look of condescension, but amusement. He bows graciously then listnes to the others speak. As each says there bit, he intently stares at them, listnening to what they are saying and not saying.

When they have finished, he replies to Renik,"I know the Queen Maab very well. It was she who bestowed the title of Dragonstone to me. She is perhaps as powerful as a hundred of me in battle. However, she is wise, kind, and benevolent, which is probably why she helped put the King to sleep to begin with. But, the question I owuld ask her is, 'why put him to sleep if he is dangerous, and not kill him?' Perhaps it was out of love, and she couldn't do it, nor allow it to be done. Perhaps his coming later in the centuries was intended by the Gods, though I doubt that with him not really caring about anything but his own desires. We will speak to her...and quickly.

Mordrid is right as well. We need to tell Sturdevant. He also knows Lady Maab and might have some useful information about this. We need to see him anyway about other issues.

Now, back to Parnoth. I'm not sure that I believe he has changed, or if it was all a game, but, if they fight him, he has brought such retribution upon himself. I will not aid those who seek to depose him, nor do I support him. It is his problem and his doing, so he can deal with that. I hope there are not too many innocents killed, but we have too much else to worry about first.

Tericus, would you relay our story about the prophecy from the man in the desert? You are a much better speaker than I am."

Renik
Thursday May 26th, 2005 2:26:57 AM

Renik listens attentively to what Valdor has to say, but notes his companion's unease. He moves to Arien's side and asks quietly "Are you finding yourself torn over this issue my friend? Speak if you have concerns, let us know your opinion on this."

Serious conversation (DM Cayzle)
Thursday May 26th, 2005 6:25:10 AM

As the adventurers and heros meeting here discuss matters of grave import that will affect the lives of many people in the Wold, it becomes clear that momentous events are in play. But you have the sense that time for talk is short.

[OOC: Hamleteers, we must not distract our Dragon guests for too long. Let's try to wrap up the conversation today, or tomorrow at the latest. Feel free to post more often if needed. -- Cayzle]

Tratain
Thursday May 26th, 2005 9:20:54 AM

Tratain says "We were thinking of going to see Queen Maab to see if we could learn more about the King and why he was put to sleep, but there are two problems with that. First none of us have any idea where to find her, and second even if we did we don't know if she would see us and tell us anything at all. I doubt she has any idea who we even are. Also, while I understand your need to stay neutral in the conflict, most of us believe strongly that ousting Parnoth and freeing the Elves in his kingdom is a just cause, one which we would gladly fight for, and want to fight for. That is our current dilema."

Feng
Thursday May 26th, 2005 9:58:22 AM

"If you could speak with Queen Maab then you could get the information that the rest of us cannot. If you do not wish to choose sides then perhaps you could learn the truth about the Fae King and speak it to those that will listen. No side has to be taken and that would allow everybody to make their own desicions on the matter."

Renik
Thursday May 26th, 2005 10:51:08 AM

The rogue nods. "No argument there, Feng. Valdor, it would seem that you and your companions are better placed to undertake that mission, given you previous history with the Queen. Though of course we will undertake the task if you wish it. What say you?"

Tericus
Thursday May 26th, 2005 11:21:29 AM

"Well, ok." Tericus tells Valdor, though he can tell the cleric is a bit nervous. he hasnt used his speaking skills in a long time.

"We journyed into the shadowlands to defeat the arch-liche Morlas. After a difficult battle, we were finally destroyed his body and the magic jem containing his soul. Once we left his tower, we were confronted by a man with some kind of lizard on a leash. After looking us over he as us this question : "It is written - 'that on the eve of the Darkness, the Lords of the South would come and destroy a monster of their own making! Is this true? Are you the Lords of the South?"'

then, once we answered that question, he told us this - "You dress like men of the south, metal, and hides - " he begins, "and so, you are now in a land far north of your own, where every man is equally wealthy. Where every man may have all the sand he desires."

"Darkness came upon us all, and sliced the day in two. Perhaps the monster had your attention. Darkness brought with it a great storm, and a storm within a storm."
He looks about him.
"The darkness and the storm have passed. But they have left something behind."
The man clears his throat, and his voice takes on a more formal tone.
"It was written that you would come, and that you would offer clemency to the messenger, and take heed of the prophecy. Is this so? It must be so, or the world will end."
"Those who love the Land have called forth Doom. Doom is the one who would rule us. Doom is the one who will turn our land against us. Doom WILL rule absolute, unless the Southern Lords send out their rallying cry to those scattered. Strength must be met with strength, power against power, knowledge against knowledge, in the Vale at life's end."

The man gives a helpless shrug.
"We do not know this doom, or this vale. But this much was clear. This message we had to deliver.
"Hardship faces us all until you succeed. Even now things change. I feel it on the wind."

"Now, after hearing what you have learned, im wondering if this lake that is being built is the Vale this man is talking about. What do you all think?"
then, after that, he told us this -

Sarigar and Black Paws
Thursday May 26th, 2005 12:19:59 PM

Sarigar seems finally contented with his knowledge of the floor's pattern and gets up. His head perks up and he sniffs the air. He first looks to his halfling compatriot, then shakes his head as if he's not the smell he's caught. He sniffs again, turning his head slowly until he's facing toward Mordrid. The brothers make as close to a direct line to him as the furniture arrangement allows.

Standing uncomfortably close to Mordrid, he sniffs once more then pronounces, "Brother of the Wild!!!" then proceeds to try to embrace Mordrid as if he'd just found a long lost brother. As if mimicing his actions, Black Paws tries to lick Mordrid affectionately. The brothers take up positions to either side of Mordrid as if they were his personal guards.

Hearing Tericus' story, the no familiar look of a growing headache begins to wash over their faces. "Oooowww" Sarigar moans quietly. "Too many words, and lots of weird talk, head hurts." It's painfully obvious that although Sarigar is not a stupid man, he's not used to a lot of talking, especially indirect or foreshadowing talk. Like Monthor, he's a man of action and speaking is not his forte.

"Let's go the Maab's cave. She's good right? She'll talk to us, tell us what we need. Ummm...what do we need again?" He furls his brow in thought, then glances back to his brother. "Oh, ya, stuff about the King guy. Thanks brother."

Nick Valentine - Platinum Dragons
Thursday May 26th, 2005 4:20:32 PM

"The consequences that Renik here spoke of, that is what I fear the most. That enslavement in the Emerald Kingdom must be stopped, but I suspect we're looking at a bigger picture. If we spend all our resources on tackling Parnoth, it leaves us without energy that may be needed elsewhere.

"As I see it, the prophecy given to us in the desert suggests a battle - strength against strength, power against power. It also told of the Southern Lords sending out a rallying cry. The man delivering the prophecy suggested that 'we' were the Southern Lords."

Nick sighs and looks toward his leader.
"Valdor, I think there's a war coming, and it seems to me that this wild army of creatures will be needed for something much greater than Parnoth."

Thursday May 26th, 2005 5:49:09 PM

((OOC - my apologies to Cayzle for diving in. I need to bring everyone up to speed with what's happening elsewhere.
This is by no means a signal to cut short the meeting unless the characters of both games want it that way. Things are starting to move very fast, of course, so decisions will need to be made.))

In the midst of the discussion, where the Lady Maab and the army of creatures marching against Parnoth seem to be the main focus - with the deepest apologies, Flabersham, butler and head of the Gold Dragon castle household interrupts the meeting.

"I'm terribly sorry, but the Endless River has burst it's banks. There is flooding in the streets, and it'll be right outside the door very shortly.

Not only that, I have a messenger from the Woldian League of Adventurers wishing to speak to the Dragons, also. He says it is extremely urgent."

Tericus's communication ring also comes alive. it's a message from no other than the Overlord in the Floating City.

(Platinums - there is more info on your board)

Dahlia
Thursday May 26th, 2005 5:58:26 PM

Entering somewhere in the middle of the conversation, The black skinned purple eyed halfling speaks up.

"Seeing Maab and talking to her are not things done lightly, and many have not returned from such trips. While I know she is on our side, I do not fully trust her.

As for Parnoth, Valdor I agree with you that he has not changed his ways, only modified them to fit his needs. Perhaps we should see if the talons know anything? Or have heard anything of late.

Tratain
Thursday May 26th, 2005 6:40:49 PM

Tratain listens to the story told by Tericus. He thinks for a moment and says "So Far from what I've Heard the doom spoken of May be the Fae king, But we know that many sleeping Fae awoke the same time he did, It may be him the prophecy speaks of or something that awoke with him. Also, I think I remembered talking with the Pixie Lord that Queen Maab rules someplace called the Valley of Twilight? Located in the Lands of Rest? Maybe thats the Vale they are speaking of. It would make sense I think."

Gareth
Thursday May 26th, 2005 10:04:57 PM

The warrior moves fluidly into the chamber with the others and nods to those who are there. He is perhaps a couple inches taller than Valdor and very well muscled like him. Ironically, he seems a bit older as well though everyone probably knows its not the case with all of the fabled half-elf's adventures.

Seeing how he is a both late - and was literally out of his mind during a lot of the adventure that Tericus speaks of - he decides not to offer anything additional. If the opportunity presents himself he greets the visitors and thanks them for coming.

Valdor
Friday May 27th, 2005 12:23:12 AM

Valdor says,"It seems we have too many things to do at once. I am not indifferent about Parnoth. I wouldn't care if he were slain, and I think what he does to the elves in his kingdom is terrible. What I meant was, I will not fight for him, as I believe he is still evil, but I will not be a part of a conquering force to takehim out. We have been to see Lady Maab, but I don't exactly remember where the entrance is to her lands. I remember fighting a dragon to get there.

Hamleteers, since you have spoken to the Pixie Lord, I believe she will see you. If questioned, tell her that you have spoken to him and to us and that I sent you. I will try to contact her through...my means. Find Joe Hand. He can tell you how to get there, unless you already know the way. But, I believe Tratain is correct about the name.

Arien, I understand your feelings in this. I feel them as well, though maybe not as strongly. However, it is apparent to me that this 'King' is changing things at his whim, and gives no thought to the consequence, which tells me he doesn't care about consequence. If he wants to go crazy, then he will be stopped. If he can be reasoned with, that will suffice for me. Many innocent men, women, and children will die at the rate things are changing. That, Icannot live with. I cannot support any being: elven, human, dwarf, or even God, who doesn't care for the safety of children.

When you have spoken to her, contact us again. Anything else? If not, may Alemi and Domi be with us all. We will need their wisdom, strength, and courage before this business is through."

Tericus
Friday May 27th, 2005 9:18:07 AM

after telling his story, Tericus's ring begins to glow. after a brief, whispered coversation, Tericus excuses himself, with the parting words "Good luck with the Pixie Lord."

A plan of action? (DM Cayzle)
Friday May 27th, 2005 9:45:49 AM

Events are moving fast! Flooding in the streets and claims on the Dragons' attention from those mightier than the Hamleteers!

The conversation takes a turn for the practical, as Valdor Dragonstone urges the Hamleteers to seek out Queen Maab. Can they do that and still have time to join the attack on Parnoth, as some wish to do? Or will they have to make a choice?

[OOC: Today is the last day for talking, Hamleteers. Or rather, feel free to talk and post through the weekend, with action resuming Monday morning. Points to ponder: How to get to Maab? Who might know or be able to help? And how are you going to get anywhere if the streets are rivers?]

[And once again, thanks to Jan and the Dragons for stopping by on short notice!]

Feng
Friday May 27th, 2005 10:22:04 AM

"Your prophecy seems too accurate to be ignored. While this man who spoke of it to you might be an agent opposed to the Fae King there seems to be truth in his words. Enough truth that his warning is worth some merit. We will speak with Queen Maab and try to learn more about whats going on. If we learn anything of significance I will make sure a messenger at the very least is sent with word to these gates. If we must stand against the Fae King let all those opposed know why.

Tratain
Friday May 27th, 2005 11:00:39 AM

Tratain nods at Fengs Words and says "Do you have any idea where we can Find Joe Hand? If you could tell us where he was staying last it would help."

Tratain thinks for a moment and says "I hope you will give some thought about leading an attack to depose Parnoth Valdor. I know its not something you want to do, but it may be necessary. Many Elves are flocking to the Fae King because he represents thier hope of being free from Parnoths Oppression, and I think many would fight to the death to keep that hope alive, even as the rest of the Wold crumbles around them. It may be necessary to offer hope from a different source in order to reduce the fighting if we can't reason with the Fae King. If we don't do that many will side with him and the war would be catastrophic. They are not evil people, and they will be fighting for a cause they believe in whole heartidly, many good people will die on both sides, It must be avoided at all costs."

After the meeting Tratain will follow the group to wherever Valdor and the Dragons send them.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Friday May 27th, 2005 12:44:54 PM

As word comes in of flodding in the streets, Sarigar runs to the nearest window to see what he can. "WOW! Looks like a river. AHH! There's people in the way. Gotta go, gotta go!!

Sarigar dashes for the door and makes his way out as fast as he can. "Sorry brother, I know you're not a horse, but you gotta carry some people too." As the brothers run down the street toward the approaching water, Sarigar grabs anyone that doesn't seem to be able to run and hoists them up onto Black Paws' back. Once his brother is close to his limit, he sends him to higher ground and he himself picks up anyone else he can or grabs bags from people that are too burdened and leads them to higher ground as well.

They continue this way for as long a necessary or until they both collapse from exhaustion.

Monthor
Friday May 27th, 2005 2:06:13 PM

As the conversation continues, Monthor leans quietly over his axe and sizes up the Dragons.

{They don't look so tough to me. Me thinks we could take them.} The dwarf thinks to himself.

{ More walking. More talking. No bashing. Me should have stayed home. At least it looks like when we finaly do get to see some action,it will be a frey worthy of songs and fables.}

Monthor sighs deeply.

" Can we go now? Me hopes we can at least get one beer in before we venture out again."

Arien
Friday May 27th, 2005 4:02:08 PM

"Perhaps the Star Mages might have some information on how to reach Queen Maab. I suggest that we head there as quickly as possible." Arien leaves with the rest of the group, still struggling withi his feelings.

Draax
Friday May 27th, 2005 6:11:21 PM

Draax listens to the comments and suggestions that are offered in the conversation and realizes that it come downs to 'what is the greater good?'. He plans to help in freeing the elves but it is also obvious that the wold can not survive if things keep changes at the rate they are. He nods he head in agreement with the others, "OK, I guess our next destination is Queen Maab." He figures this Joe Hand character or the Star Mages as suggested by Arien will probably have an idea where to start.

Renik
Saturday May 28th, 2005 6:25:32 AM

"Very well, we will seek out the Queen, and first Joe Hand. For now we must forget about the war against Parnoth. Joe... Joe of the Hand... That name is familiar to me. That's not the same Joe Hand who was married to King Claudia, is it? I've heard that sad tale sung by many a bard after one too many glasses of wine. Loved the King (they call the ruler king of course, be they male or female), who was stolen from him (in a way) by an evil dragon. She was rescued eventually, but the events that followed, after the wedding... well, it was a tragic ending, that I know. Whatever became of him?"

Renik is willing to recount the full tale should anyone be interested.

If none of the Dragons are around to answer his question Renik will ask Flabersham if he can assist in tracking down the legendary Joe Hand, or give any pointers as to whom they might ask for help in finding him.

"With the city slowly drowning we will most likely need to fly. Though Sarigar's efforts are valiant I think we need to make all haste in this quest. The longer we delay the more innocents are going to suffer. We can do the greatest good by finding the Queen. Tratain, do you have your flight spell memorized?"

Valdor
Saturday May 28th, 2005 11:26:36 AM

Valdor rises and says,"So be it. My Domi and Alemi be with us all. Have courage and wisdom, my friends. It will be hard for some of our friends to find the best course in all of this and we must not alienate them because they do not see things as we do. I fear for our elven friends that they may have misplaced hopes in a ruler that is neither benevolent, nor caring about them at all. Of course, time will reveal his true intentions. But, until we know, we must support them, as this might be hardest on them, including some of my dearest friends. Arien, trust your heart. That's all I have to say on this.

Renik, Joe Hand will come to you very shortly. In fact, I have had my earring activated, so he knows you will be seeking him out. He knows to come to you. Thanks you for your information, you are doing great things for your country and for the good folk of the Wold. Have courage."

Valdor bows deeply to the Hamleteers, then heads out to get his armor on.

Parley over, adventures await! (DM Cayzle)
Monday May 30th, 2005 10:16:29 AM

Feng promises to send word of what they learn.

Tratain agrees, asks for help finding this Joe of the Hand, and urges the Dragons to follow the path that saves the most people.

Monthor, itching for action, sizes up the Dragons. If he can make a Wisdom check vs. DC5, he will realize something: Highlight to display spoiler: {The least of these heroes could swat Monthor like a bug without breaking a sweat.}

Anticipating his thirst, a server has a mug of ale ready for Monthor as the group prepares to set out.

Arien suggests asking the Star Mages for help; Draax reluctantly agrees to turn away from Parnoth for now in order to find this Queen Maab. He thinks both the Star Mages and Joe Hand are good ideas.

Renik recalls a little about the sad story of Joe Hand. He thinks he has heard more, but it is on the tip of his brain. Just a sec ... maybe he will remember ...

Valdor offers encouragement and wisdom. He tells the party that Joe Hand will contact them soon.

Sarigar, concern for innocents uppermost in his mind, runs outside into the floodwaters in order to save those caught in the wet. He manages to shepherd a half dozen souls into the safest building around -- the Dragons' castle. The staff, busy moving delicate things to the upper floors, sets about bundling people with blankets and giving them hot drinks. As the party gets ready to leave, they find Sarigar and Black Paws being dried by several half-elves weilding warm towels.

The party prepares to leave.

You are all in a second floor hall. Stairs lead to the first floor and out, but it is wet down there. Valdor said Joe Hand would appear soon -- does that mean hours? A day? These Dragons seem to move fast, so probably sooner rather than later.

Until then, what? Hang out here? The Star Mages? Some other destination?

Monthor  d20=16
Monday May 30th, 2005 3:02:44 PM

Monthor gleefully accepts the mug and guzzles it down.

After an appreciative 'Burp', Monthor thanks the server. Taking another looks at the Dragons, Monthor (role 16) realizes that he wouldn't have a chance in Hades against any of them. Funny enough, that just makes Monthor all the more wanting to arm wrestle one or two of them. After all, he is a Dwarf. But while a Dwarf he may be, his job is to protect his new friends, not to start a brawl...

{ Hummmm.... a brawwwwwl }

or to get involved in the group parley.

Monthor scans the room again for the server and hopes that his good luck will hit again.

Nick Valentine - Platinum Dragons
Monday May 30th, 2005 5:15:31 PM

Nick gives the Hamleteers a solumn bow and wishes them well. He has no doubt that Joe will arrive soon. It seemed a straight forward enough task, but he's glad someone of the caliber of the Hamleteers are going, as there was no indication how how things would be in that realm. If everything was going crazy here, what on earth would it be like in the Valleys?
Maybe they were untouched for now...

Enough pondering, Nick. Time for action. He bids his farewells and dashes toward the entrance hall to meet with the messenger from the WLA.

Renik
Monday May 30th, 2005 6:40:19 PM

The rogue thanks Valdor and Nick, and turns to the others. "It seems we are to have a guide. Unless anyone has a better suggestion I say we stay here and await Joe Hand's arrival. If there is no sign of him within two hours we head to the Star Mages and see what we can learn from them. I supect we have litte time to waste with the pace of events at the moment. Agreed?"

Draax
Monday May 30th, 2005 7:24:26 PM

Draax bows to the Platinum Dragons before they depart. "Thank you for your guidance and advice."

Draax says, "Renik's plan seem the best for now. Are there enough fly spells to go around?"

Tratain
Monday May 30th, 2005 10:59:43 PM

Tratain says "I think it would be best to wait here for a bit like you said Renik, Right now Jow Hand knows we are here. If we wander off who knows how long it will be before he can find us or we him. Especially with all thats going on right now."

Sarigar and Black Paws
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 10:36:56 AM

The brothers are still panting and noticeably exhausted after tending to the dreadfully few citizens they were able to help. A look of deep regret upon their faces as they sit, wrapped in towels, looking like dogs that have just gotten out of a bath. They sip a soup that was brought to them to help warm them from the inside out. Despite their defeated appearance, the look in their eyes indicates that they're strongly considering going back out to help more.

As the others talk of this Joe Hand, Sarigar cranes his head up to weakly say, "Joe's Hand? You mean some guy has a talking hand? Bah! You're just teasing."

Monthor
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 12:09:53 PM

" Let's wait. At least they have beer here. "

Valdor
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 12:29:20 PM

Somewhere, on a higher level of the castle, the party can here a booming voice yell,"Joe, I know you're busy, but they need directions to Maab's Valley. You've been there more than the rest of us, so get down there and help them out!"

After a short pause, he concludes,"Look you overgrown eagle, don't argue with me! I will pluck those wings off your shoulders if you give me any more grief! I need you NOW!!!!"

Apparently, it sounds like a one sided communication. There's no other voice to be heard responding.(They communicate with matching earrings.)

The Mysterious Joe Hand (DM Cayzle)
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 4:43:40 PM

After the Hamleteers wait for a bit, and after Valdor's ... shall we say ... invitation ... a winged human swoops through a window and lands before the group.

This brilliant personage, evidently Joe himself, wears white robes with a silver hair band tying back his long hair. There is a red handprint on one breast, and a red dove on the other. Is he glowing? For sure, his features seem both human and angelic. He carries a bow and a sword.

"Look," Joe Hand says, seemingly very harried, "I don't have much time, and I'm not allowed to do as much now that I'm a celestial -- we angel-folk have rules, you know. But let me help you out, since Valdor tells me you are deserving."

"You want to visit Queen Maab, right? Well, I have just enough time to tell you how."

"But first, do you realize -- really realize -- what it is you want to do? You understand that she rules the Valleys of Twilight, in the land of the afterlife, where the souls of the dead dwell? You know that she seperates the places ruled by the Gods of the Wold from the places ruled by the Gods of Testing? If you want to get out of this alive, you will be defying Gargul's rule that none of the living shall enter that place and return."

"Sure, we've broken that rule more times than I can count, but Lord Gargul still doesn't like it!"

"Honestly, you might be better off doing some other charitable good deeds, rather than a attempting a deadly mission like this one! Maybe you could just send her a message?"

"If you want to do this, there are two paths to choose from. First, you can enter the Realms of Shadow, travel to the River of Blood, cross it, and then step on Maab's shore. That's the long way."

"Or you can enter a nearby Guarded Portal that leads directly to that land -- but it is guarded by a fae of immense power. We Dragons only managed to fight the Guardian to a draw! That's the short way."

"Pick your poison, and I'll give you some advice before I have to fly off!"

Renik
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 5:10:36 PM

The rogue is greatly impressed by the gravitas of Joe's words. If he hadn't realised it before he does now; this is terribly dangerous mission they are planning. One that might claim all their lives. Deep within his gut a thrill of fear tightens, and he momentarily questions the path his life has taken. Is he really some hero of legend, some selfless warrior in the cause of Goodness and peace? Can he be measured against such heroes as the Gold Dragons? Is that what he really wants to become?

This troubled introspection does not last long. You have no time for the luxury of soul-searching, he tells himself. You must simply act or fail. What choice have you?

Renik looks up at Joe Hand, meeting his eye. "If this is the best chance we have of restoring order to the Wold then it is a mission we must undertake. Valdor and the other Platinum Dragons tasked us with this mission, and I for one mean to see it through. There is simply no choice in the matter. We succeed or die.

From your words you make it sound as if we have little chance against the powerful guardian. But before we decide which route to take I have a question or two. Were the Golds considerably more powerful than we Hamleteers when you battled the creature? Might diplomacy, pursuasion or trickery succeed in place of might? If, in your judgement, we stand a fighting chance by that route that is the one I would be inclined to take.

If, however, you consider that to be a road to certain doom, we will hear of this longer path you speak of."

"But that is just my opinion." Turning to his companions he says; "What think the rest of you?"

Feng
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 5:10:54 PM

"If Gargul elects to put a price on our return then we will have to abide by it. This is too important not to go. We should probably enter the realm of shadow and travel to the river of blood."

Tratain
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 9:28:20 PM

Tratain says "I agree with Renik, if the Fae Guardian is to powerful to defeate then Maybe we can negotiate our way through? What can you tell us about the Guardian. Will it speak to us or just attack us on site. We may be able to convince it to let us through because of what is happening. If not we can take the longer road. I would like to hear all you are able to tell us about both ways. Specifically, how can we enter the realms of shadow if we take that route."

Tratain says to the others, "We should probably stop by the temple of Gargul and see if the clerics there can commune with Gargul and ask special dispensation for us to travel there. It wouldn't hurt to ask. There are other alternatives as well if the journey would be suicide. Like Joe has said, we could ask the guardian to relay a message to Queen Maab asking her to meet us, that is if it isn't immeditly hostile."

Draax
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 1:54:08 AM

Draax had no idea their task would be as dangerous as it is. He is glad that Joe Hand told them the truth about the dangers they would be facing. He listens to the others and then asks Joe a few questions of his own.

"Joe, how long would it take us to travel the river of blood route? If we make it there are there any special preparations that we will need? What is the air like, can we breath there, what are the environmental dangers?"

To the group his say, "I am with Feng as far as the travel route but Tratain's idea does have merit. If the guardian will communicate with us we might be able to get through or at least get a message to the queen."

Monthor
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 7:33:00 AM

Monthor has obviously lost interest at this point and is triming his nails with his axe.

" Whatever boys. Me let you deep thinkers plan this one out. Just show me who to bash, when to bash them and how hard to bash them. Me thinks that however we end up doing this, we're not going to find it to be a walk in the minds. "

Monthor stops his toilet for a second...

" However... me thinks the temple idea is a good one. Oh and maybe Princess needs a few minutes to freshen up. His makeup looks smudged. "

And whith that shot, Monthor laughs.

Encouragement (if you want to call it that) and an Exit (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 11:42:25 AM

Joe chuckles, and a flash of dark humor emerges from his carefully crafted sunny demeanor. "A bit wishy washy, huh? Well, understandable when you are taking a walk into death's abode. How's about I give you a couple tips for both routes, and you can take your pick. If you try one path and are defeated, the survivors can try the other, if you feel like taking double the punishment!"

"The short cut is nearby. It's just west of Edenmoor in a place called the Valley of Humiliation where the last battle against the Aisildurians was fought 400 years ago. There's a magical gate in the dead end of that valley. You travel east down the valley and the door faces out west."

A local knowledge (or Int check) vs DC10 tells you where Edenmoor is: Please Highlight to display spoiler: {Edenmoor is the town west of the Plateau of New Elenna, just south of the southern reaches of the Culverwood. Check out this map}

"Yup, if you go that route, don't try to beat the Guardian toe-to-toe. When we went that route, the Guardian was an incredible Fae Dragon, but I have it on good authority that the Guardian changes every so often. I have no idea what the fae Guardian is now. Guile or stealth or diplomacy are your only hopes there. Stupidity will surely get you dead. Keep in mind that all fae are stronger since the King was born."

"As for the traditional route, first get into the Realm of Shadows, with a Plane Shift or some other magic ethereal travel, or by going through a thin spot, like in a haunted graveyard."

"Once in the Realm, you'll see these many trickles of Woldsblood on the ground. Whatever you do, DON'T touch the Woldsblood! That stuff will carry your soul out of your body, leaving behind an empty shell. Then something else might come and fill the body! Roaming spirits abhor a vacuum, I always say."

"And don't lose your minds when you hear the voices of the unborn calling. Ignore them, and also ignore the harmless dead that you meet. The harmFULL dead you'll want to keep your weapons sharp for. You all have ghost touch weapons, right?"

"Follow the trickles of Woldsblood as they meet and become streams, then rivulets, then finally coming to the River. Don't Touch the WoldsBlood! Find a way across the river to Maab's land. Good luck with that! I never tried it, myself."

"And here's a get-out-of-jail free card that might come in handy."

He hands Feng a small skull of a creature the size of a cat, but there is only one eye socket, like a cyclopian feline.

"Give this to a minion of Gargul, and, with some fast talking, you might get a favor."

"Good Luck!"

And with a swoosh of celestial wings, he is gone.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 12:40:09 PM

The brothers, still panting from their ordeal in the watery streets watch the scene with the angelic Joe Hand. They feel somewhat uncomfortable in his presence despite his celestial demeanor. Perhaps it's because they are so in tune to the Wold itself and not the higher powers.

Listening to the presented stragegies, Sarigar is completely dumbfounded. Not only are they talking about leaving the natural world, but passing into the realm of the dead and unborn. Surprisingly, they seem to comprehend most of this, but clearly have no idea what should be done or if it should be done.

When Joe mentions the need for "ghost touch" weapons, he simply looks down at his hands, extends his claws and scratches the floor, leaving noticeable marks. He then turns his hands back over and looks to each finger individually and shakes his head mumbling under his breath, "Never hit a ghost before."

Retracting his claws, he holds his head in his hands, still weary but recovering.

Arien
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 12:59:39 PM

"Well then, I think all would agree that haste is of importance. Where brute force failed against this guardian perhaps stealth, which we practiced quite a bit there, would avail us to sneak past this guardian. I could once again make us appear as something else with a spell and we could attempt to sneak past."

Renik
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 7:07:47 PM

"Though the risk is high I say we face the Fae. I think wits are our best bet. Beating it through stealth or combat strike me as doomed to failure. " He claps Monthar and Feng cheerfuly on their backs, with a resounding clang.

But this mission means the death of us all if we fail. The stakes are high. Which path do the rest of you favour?"

Tratain
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 9:26:43 PM

Tratain says "Let Head out to find the entrence guarded by the Fae, lets try and see if diplomacy works, if not we can try and win our way past. We don't need to defeate the Fae, just get by it. I think maybe between my Blade Barrier, and if Arien has any Walls of Force memorized we can get by."

Draax
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 9:49:31 PM

"Sounds reasonable to me, lets try our luck with the fae."

Feng
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 4:10:56 AM

Feng takes the cat skull and slips it into the pocket of his magical pants. "I was hesitant to battle this guardian but the way of the shadow plane seems equally as dangerous and longer. We might as well try the guardian and see what happens."

Getting the Show on the Road (DM Cayzle)
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 6:07:13 AM

The Windhorn Hamleteers decide on the short cut to Queen Maab's land. To Edenmoor!

[OOC: Um, guys, not one of youse bums rolled the Int/Knowledge (Local) check I asked for in yesterday's post! Does anybody know the way to Edenmoor? Have you Hamleteers ever been there before?]

But first, how to get past the floodwaters? And then which way to go?

[OOC: I'm glad to move things along pretty fast, but you players have to post some plans for action. What's next?]

Monthor  d20=10
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 7:44:03 AM

The gruffy dwarf strokes his beard and thinks out loud.
"Me thinks me know where Edenmoor is (role 10 vs Int of 13)....."

Monthor tells the rest of the group what he recalls.

" Me can get past the water by using me Mammie's boots and fly. What about the rest of you scrubs? If we want to make time, do we need to get some mounts? Don't like the things but me could use a pony if it will get things moving quicker. "

Tratain  d20=2
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 8:10:20 AM

Tratain says "I'm not sure where Edenmoor is, but I can get us there quick. Lets head up to the roof and I'll cast windwalk on us. We'll have to make a descision when we get there. I know we aren't planning to fight the guardian but I'll be without all my most powerfull heal spells until We rest again, though as long as we don't have move move anything that blocking the portal we may be able to fly right past the guardian before it knows whats happening, we travel very quickly when windwalking. It may not spot us until its too late to stop us."

Sarigar and Black Paws  d20+1=21
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 11:05:13 AM

Sarigar places his hands on his knees and pushes himself up slowly to standing. He walks to the window looking out at the flooded streets. Although his spirit is more than willing, his body is barely able, but his mind tells him that it would be futile to attempt more rescues. He hangs his head for a few moments and in his frustration, digs his claws into the window sill.

Black Paws steps over, nudges his nose under Sarigar's arm until he can look out as well. He looks up at his brother and lets out a mild whimper and bark. Sarigar reaches under his brothers chin and gives him a healthy scratching. "I know, brother. I just hate leaving all those people down there in that. But the pack needs us."

As he turns around a look of purpose has filled his eyes and he seems to have suddenly fully recovered though subtle nuances in his stature seem to indicate that he's not nearly as recovered as he would seem to be showing. "We've got a dragon to get past and a door to get through. If we gotta run, brother and I are ready. If we gotta fight, we're ready. If we gotta sneak, we're ready. Let's go."

Having heard the plan to leave from the roof, the brothers begin walking to any stairs they find leading up.

ooc: Figures I roll a 20 on an Int check for something Sarigar would know nothing about. If he has been Edenmoor, he never would have been able to read the sign to let him know.

Arien pauses a moment as Monthor informs the party and remembers the valley himself. Eyeing the waters Arien says, "I can fly as well and I can Dimension Door too carry people over and I also have a pair of potions that may be of use here, one of flying and one of water breathing."

"Windwalking is our best option" nods the rogue. "That will work for the whole party, and get us to our destination quickly. As you say, Tratain, it may even sneak us past the guardian, though I have my doubts. I know Edenmoor well (Int 19), it's not so far from where I was raised. I can draw a rough map before we leave if you wish."

Renik checks they are all present, then says "Unless there are any other concerns I say we go now. Tratain? Lead on."

Draax is glad that some of the others know the way to Edenmoor because he does not have a clue. He agrees with Renik about windwalking being their best option. He grabs a handful of food to eat on the way before they departs.

"Then let us make haste. I have a feeling that nothing we do will prepare us for the guardian. Maybe we will get lucky and the Fae will remain loyal to the queen and let us pass. I hope that she is not pleased to see the Fae King back upon this world." Feng says.
