Sages and Songs (DM Cayzle)  d20+17=34
Sunday February 27th, 2005 2:16:13 PM

Sarigar and Renik go shopping.

[OOC: You guys might want to make a dual visit to the Catacombs. That would be a hoot! Renik-as-personal-shopper!]

Tratain and Renik bump into each other at the Sage's Guild, where Renik arranges to meet a bard he knows of -- a sage, but with a reputation for slumming it in the finer taverns from time to time.

This fellow -- a half-elf named Wurren -- picks up on the symbol right away! He hums a little ditty that reminds him of the details.

"Sure, this is the mark of a militant elvish wing of the Templars of the Wild. You heard of them, right? The druidic bunch who are known both for skill with weapons and for their eagerness to use them? Good guys, mostly, but a little heavy on the taking-themselves-too-seriously side."

"Why do you fellows want to know? They mostly keep away from 'civilized' spots."

[OOC: Wishing for better posting from Arien, Draax, and Feng! We're down to six, guys, so every post counts! -- Cayzle]

Tratain
Sunday February 27th, 2005 6:37:35 PM

Tratain looks at Renik and Shrugs.

He says "Can't say that I have, could you tell us where we would be able to find them? And any usefull information you know about them would help as well."

Draax
Monday February 28th, 2005 2:35:32 AM

Draax catches up with the others as they talk to Wurren. He listens as they learn about the Templars of the Wild.

Renik
Monday February 28th, 2005 8:23:24 AM

Renik listens attentively as Wurren speaks. He nods at Tratain's comments, then adds "Yes, a location would be very handy, as well as the name of their leader. They delivered us a message but neglected to inform how to reply. Out of interest, who do these chaps tend to use their weapons on, exactly?"

Later he suggests to Sarigar that they head over to the Catacombs to buy some new toys. (OOC See you there!)

Sarigar and Blackpaws
Monday February 28th, 2005 4:14:54 PM

"Cat's with combs? I tried that once with a cougar, it didn't like it much."

Once what the Catacombs is explained to him, he responds, "Oh, the shiny circle trading place...Ummm, where's that? Everything looks and smells the same in the city. At least in the wild places, I can smell where the wolves are, and the cougars, and the orcs, and the..."

Once he's effectively gagged (or he'll keep naming off animals and monsters for hours), he'll proceed on to the Catacombs (which, he'll probably get lost finding at least half a dozen times).

Wurren (DM Cayzle)
Monday February 28th, 2005 10:43:00 PM

The party listens intently and then asks more questions.

Wurren looks a little impatient. If you can make a Sense Motive check vs DC20, then Please Highlight to display spoiler: {Wurren seems to expect something of you before he goes into more detail. He is impatient that you do not realize this.}

The bardic sage grumbles, "Look, my time is precious to me, and you are wasting it. I've spoken too freely as it is."

He looks at you and seems about to depart.

Draax  d20=19
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 2:22:42 AM

Having arrived in the middle of the conversation Draax is sure that the bard is waiting for them to do something, but he is not sure what (19 sense motive check). Noticing the change in the bard's attitude Draax looks questionably at the others to see if they noticed the change.

Arien
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 3:24:03 AM

Arien also arrives late, fresh from the Star Mages' guild. Arien joins in on the conversation, not sure exactly what they are talking about but listening intently.

Feng
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 9:21:48 AM

Feng takes a deep breath. These subtle dealings with false words and half truths wears on him. He was never one to decipher such things. Now the man they were after isn't the man at all. If somebody else was responsible for the killing then they were back at square one.

Philip K
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 10:29:06 AM

ooc: I'll try to post later, but right now, I have to cover classes (we fired someone on Friday and I'm covering until someone new is hired, yippee).

Renik  d20+3=13 d20+13=26
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 2:15:35 PM

Renik is unsure what the bard is concerned about (sense motive 13), considering he already made it clear funds were available (OOC: A couple of posts back I said Rnik would offer anything up to a couple of hundred GPs. I assume cash is the cause of the holdup?).

"Sir, I never intended your time to go unrewarded. We will of course compensate you for your considerable trouble. But please, continue with your discourse, you hold the room spellbound with your oratory, and I for one am keen to learn at the feet of a master."

It is hard to tell if the rogue is being serious or not (Bluff 26).

Sarigar and Black Paws
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 4:33:25 PM

The brothers sit in the corner, watching the others do all the talking, wondering what it's all about. His mind, occupied by his missing wild place and...is that a flea behind my ear?

Tratain  d20+5=15
Tuesday March 1st, 2005 5:48:15 PM

Tratain listens to what the Bard has to say and will also offer Gold if Reniks offer doesn't seem to be enough for him to keep talking about who they are looking for.

A Lead (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 9:28:54 AM

This is the Tuesday night post. Look for a new DM post Wednesday evening.

A recap: Seeking the mysterious letter writer, you discovered that the letter was dropped off by an elf with a curious tattoo -- a four-pointed star surrounded by four small circles (one circle between each point of the star).

You have found a half-elf bard-sage, named Wurren, who recognizes the symbol: it is the mark of a fanatic elven branch of the Templars of the Wild.

300 gold pieces later, Wurren reveals a little more info. The Templars are martial druids who defend the wilderness against evil influences.

Wurren says that he does not know where to find these people, but he advises that you talk with some other druids. Maybe here in the City, or maybe in the Culverwood?

As Wurren talks, please make spot checks. If you make a check vs. DC14, then Please Highlight to display spoiler: {You notice three falcons flying overhead. They circle the area above you three times, and then fly together due east, one out front, the other two to the right and left and back.}

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 10:31:20 AM

"Ooo, Clubber Woods, I met an old wood cutter guy there once. Some ranger girl too, she was nice to me and my pack."

"Why would druids live in the city? They like wild places like me. Cept for that wild place last night, did you know that's gone now?

Sarigar drifts off onto a number of tangents dealing with the disappearing grove, druids and rangers until someone stops him.

Tratain  d20+9=16
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 12:23:52 PM

Tratain listens to what the Bard has to say. During the Conversation he notices the Falcons and points them out to his companions.

He says to the others "Should we follow those Falcons for a ways? See where they lead? Or just head off to the Druid Quarter and ask around there. Whats to the east of us anyways?"

Renik  d20+14=30
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 3:14:19 PM

Renik also notices the birds overhead (Spot 30). "Intriguing" he murmurs.

"My thanks, Wurren, you have been of great help. We will make a point of looking you up when next we are in need of knowledge."

To his companions he says "There is every possibility those three falcons are flying towards the Druid Quarter, for it lies to the east of the city. It strikes me as too great a coincidence for them to head that way just as we learn of the Templars. I suspect we have been under observation.

Sarigar, I think you're going to like this place. In the middle of the busiest metropolis in the Known Wold lies an area of unspoiled woodland, populated only by forest folk, those in harmony with nature. I have a feeling you're going to fit right in. Let's follow those birds and see if we can find any sign of the Templars."

Feng
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 5:09:18 PM

"Well this is an interesting twist. A fanatical druidic group wasn't something that I expected. The problem with fanatics is that their thinking and motives don't always make sense."

Renik (sorry, can't resist...)
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 5:47:14 PM

"No-one expects the Templars of the Wild!" cries the rogue. "Their chief weapon is surprise, fear and surprise; two chief weapons, fear, surprise and ruthless efficiency! Er, among their chief weapons are fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency and a near-fanatical devotion to the Wild! Um, I'll just stop now, shall I?"

It occurs to the rogue that it is not only fanatics who don't always make sense.

Draax  d20+6=22
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 6:58:40 PM

Draax pretends like he is listening to Sarigar go on about the druids wondering if the little guy was ever going to stop. He nods his head in agreement with the others when they suggest following the birds (spot check 22).

Sayer, in Sooth! (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday March 2nd, 2005 10:31:25 PM

The party takes note of the mysterious falcons flying overhead, and with serious or humorous attitudes, the Hamleteers follow.

At the main entrance to the Druid Quarter, the way is blocked by a huge crowd of people.

They are all listening, transfixed, to a wild-eyed gnome who has climbed a tree so that everyone can see him. He stands at a place where the great tree's trunk diverges into three huge branches.

"I tell you, my brothers and sisters in nature, that a convergence is upon us! The secret of the many in one will soon be secret no more! Something stirs in the Wold! I tell you! I tell you! I tell you! -- It is coming! He is coming! They are coming!"

He continues in this way, heedless of the trio of falcons flying overhead and on into the east.

What do you?

Tratain
Thursday March 3rd, 2005 12:21:04 AM

Tratain listens to what the gnome in the tree has to say.

He tells Renik "I want to hear what he has to say, I'll hurry to catch up if he doesn't have anything worth hearing in a minute or three."

Draax
Thursday March 3rd, 2005 2:11:28 AM

Draax slows down when he comes to the crowd. He will ease his way to the edge of the crowd, try to circle around them and keep following the birds. If needed, he will use his Slippers of Spider Climbing to walk on the walls to get pass the crowd.

Renik
Thursday March 3rd, 2005 7:47:45 AM

"Hmmph" sniffs the rogue, clearly not impressed at the gnome's antics. "The one thing you can be sure of in this city is that if you put on a dirty robe, climb a tree and start yelling crazy nonsense you'll have a rapt audience in less time than it takes to lift their purses. Stay and amuse yourself by all means, Tratain, but look to your valuables. Nine times out of ten this sort of rubbish is just a scam to gather easy marks for pickpockets."

He marches on, muttering to himself "Soothsayers! Pah! Charletans or madmen to a man. If I stood up and started yelling that the End Was Nigh, and that the Only Path to True Salvation was to unload all your sinful gold into this handily placed horse-drawn cart, do you think they'd listen? Of course not. They'd take one look at my immaculate dress sense and fabulous flowing locks, cry "Swindler!", and have me in the stocks faster than I could break wind.

But dress youself up in a smelly sack with a hole in it, smother yourself in horse dung and forego sleep for 2 weeks and they'll be tripping over themselves to part with their cash. "Take mine first! No mine! Save me!" It beggars belief. I mean, any idiot prepared to dress up and pretend to be mad could become wildly wealthy in no time flat..."

Renik tails off, and seems to get a faraway look in his eye for a moment. Then he shakes his head. "No, no amount of cash is worth smothering yourself in horse dung" decides the fastidious rogue with a shudder.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Thursday March 3rd, 2005 12:07:11 PM

Hearing Renik's protests of the gnome, Sarigar feels he must chime in, "Umm, what's wrong with horse dung? It hides scents really well. Wanna be sneaky in the wild places? Gotta roll in all kinds of stuff, like me. City smells scare off the wild things."

The brothers listen to the gnome and crowd for a few moments when Sarigar finally realizes what his nose is telling him. THERE'S A WILD PLACE BEHIND THE GNOME!!! "WOO HOO! Come on brother, wild place in there, let's go!

The brothers begin pushing their way through the crowd (and with a 6ft tall wolf coming through, I'm thinking many get out of the way quickly). Although not trying to be overly aggressive, the brothers aren't averse to pushing people out of the way that are being a bit stubborn. They have a mission, they must get to their wild place, so as far as they're concerned, everyone should just get out of the way.

Feng
Thursday March 3rd, 2005 8:06:03 PM

Feng listens to the gnome's words and doesn't know what to make of it. He could be crazy but there is conviction in his words. He could be telling the truth. Something could be coming but do they really have the time to stand and listen?

"Perhaps we should be moving along?"

Signs and Salutations (DM Cayzle)
Friday March 4th, 2005 7:40:41 AM

Most of the group passes around (or through) the crowd. Draax leads the way. Renik's cynicism is unchecked by the absence of a collection plate; the shake-down must come later on. Feng feels that the gnome is sincere, but the paladin also feels that their business is urgent and will not allow delay. Sarigar is also not delaying! He is eager to enter the part of the city devoted to nature.

Tratain pauses to hear a bit more. The gnome seems to be talking about someone, now. "The Sleeper! The Sleeper! The Sleeper! He awakens! He rises! He comes! And when he does, flowers will bloom. Fruit will ripen. Children will be healthy and strong. He will fight the undead. He will fight the the unnatural. He will fight the unfeeling."

There is more about this Sleeper fellow, but after a while Tratain chooses to join his friends.

Who in the meantime have met the Welcomer. An elf, evidently a druid, judging by the leather armor, scimitar, and wolf at his feet, stands inside the gate, offering welcome and help to all who enter and leave.

The wolf stands to sniff at Sarigar and Black Paws in greeting.

The elf says, "Welcome to the Sanctuary. All are welcome here, so long as they do no harm and pledge respect to Mother Wold. Many enjoy the lake, which is pleasant and warm even now, in early spring."

Tratain arrives just in time to hear, "What can I help you with?"

[This is the Thursday Nite post. Look for a DM Post late Friday or early Saturday.]

Sarigar and Black Paws
Friday March 4th, 2005 4:12:42 PM

"Hello there druid. You got a pack too, like me." proclaims Sarigar, indicating his brother. "This be GrrrRRrrark and I'm Sarigar. We're here for the wild place. City too stinky for us, had to get away. Did you know there was another wild place last night near a food place, but it's gone now, just...gone. Brother and I miss it, but now we got this, so, we're happy again." The whole while, the brothers have their heads dipped in submission noting full well that this is not their territory (yet) and this druid is likely the alpha for the area.

"Ohh, these guys is the rest of my pack. Confusing pack, Feng's the alpha, but he does what the littler one Renik tells him a lot. Not like wolves, but fun to travel with if your nose can handle it. They're following birds and some fighty druids. You know, the kinds that likes to beat up on people to protect the wild places. Got's no problem with that myself, brother and I had to fight a lot of stuff when we was just pups."

Renik
Friday March 4th, 2005 5:54:07 PM

The rogue is about to launch into a verbose and flowery greeting when Sarigar beats him to the punch. He starts off by nodding, but looks momentarily sulky when Sarigar describes him as the littler one, then downright shocked when smell is mentioned.

"Your nose! What about mine? Am I the one caked in horse kaka? No, I have a few modest dabs of one of Pierluigi de la Costa's finest scent creations about me which (I'll have you know) have caused certain ladies of an impressionable disposition to become quite flustered in my presence. The cheek! Nose can handle it indeed! And to think I shook your hand earlier!"

He examines his own hand closely for sign of residual equine excretia, carefully dabbing and wiping with a lace hankerchief.

"But my diplomatic friend here is quite correct, we do come seeking the combative druidic order, the Templars of the Wild. We were sent a message by one of their number, and wish to meet with him. Do you know if we can find him here?"

Tratain
Friday March 4th, 2005 6:34:46 PM

Tratain catches up to the group and chuckles and Sarigar and Renik.

He says to the others "That gnome was kind of odd. Most doomsayers predict the end of everything. That gnome though said something about a sleeper, and that it would fight undead, and cause flowers to bloom and such. Didn't sound terrifying at all."

Draax
Friday March 4th, 2005 10:03:35 PM

Draax smiles at the comments made by Sarigar and Renik. When Tratain mentions the gnome Draax says, "Harmless or not, I get a bad feeling when prophets start proclaiming the coming of some being. Hopefully he was just a little touched and that was an isolated incidence, because the last time we saw a bunch of prophets praising an unknown entity, we had dragons attacking everyone and the deity structure of the wold was turned upside down. I do not think I would like to go through that again."

Arien
Saturday March 5th, 2005 3:27:28 AM

Arien watches gnome silently for a moment before continuing on. He gazed about the quarter reserving his judgement for the moment. He appreciated the flora no doubt but he wanted to see what matter of fauna dwelt within.

Elpanon the Druid (DM Cayzle)
Saturday March 5th, 2005 7:24:16 AM

The druid smiles and bows to Sarigar and Black Paws. "I am Elpanon, and this is my companion, Beleg. I am very pleased to meet you." Beleg gives a friendly, welcoming yip.

"You are welcome to rest and stay here as long as you like. The only rule is that you must not harm any plant or animal here. If you are hungry, come visit a druid, and we will feed you."

After listening to Renik and Sarigar, the Welcomer says, "Ah, yes, the Templars of the Wild are indeed 'fighty.' Once in a while one stays with us, usually to learn something here or in the city. None are resident in the Sanctuary at the present."

"The Templars are devoted to seeking out and fighting what they see as the evil in nature. So there is not much to keep them busy here. And in the Culverwood, they acknowledge the ascendency of the Sacred Circle there, so they seldom enter the last great forest of Elenna. I have heard that they tend to wander beyond the Ellenian Peninsula, working in lands ravaged by Cataclysm."

Seeing Arien looking around anxiously, the druid says, "Fear not. No beast or plant will hurt people here, so long as the people show respect."

Hearing Tratain and Draax talk about the gnome, Elpanon says, "So long as he is not in the actual Sanctuary, the gnome is free to preach. So far he has done no harm. I do not know what to make of his teaching. There is something odd going on, and many have seen strange omens or signs."

"Perhaps you would like to visit the Woodwose? He is old and wise. He has returned to us just a short while ago, and it is said that the Green Man knows much that is hidden."

Sarigar and Black Paws
Saturday March 5th, 2005 9:17:54 AM

"We had a purple guy with us once. He died, giant hit him hard, very sad, me and brother howled for him. Maybe him and green guy are brothers?"

With his typical wandering train of thought, Sarigar meanders off to see and explore the wild place. The idea of being fed by another displeases him, but seeing as he's in another's territory, he will comply with the rules laid down by the alpha.

Renik
Saturday March 5th, 2005 2:37:58 PM

"Greetings, Elpanon. Beleg. I thank you for welcoming us into your place. We will be sure to treat it with due respect. Yes, indeed we would like to speak with this Green Man, Woodwose. It may even be he himself who sent the Templar to us with a message, you never know.

You say many are seeing strange omens and signs? That doesn't sound good. The only thing worse than a soothsayer ranting on about nonsense is lots of other soothsayers agreeing with that nonsense." The rogue sighs, and turns to the others to see that Sarigar has wondered off exploring.

"Sarigar! Oh for the love of... Ah, my apologies, Elpanon, I think we had better catch up with our comrade. Could you tell us where to find Woodwose?"

The rogue feels rather conflicted in this place. Although he was born and brought up the son of a woodsman, it has been many years since he spent much time in such a place. Since his arrival in the big city he has wholeheartedly embraced its creature comforts, and being confronted with nature in the raw makes it clear how much he has changed over time. This used to be his home, now it is nearly as alien to him as the bottom of the ocean. Though he gives this realisation little conscious thought subconsciously it succeeds in putting him rather ill at ease, and making him just a little bit tetchy.

Arien
Sunday March 6th, 2005 12:41:00 AM

Arien is glad that the druid mistook his thoughts for fears of the beasts. Arien wondered less about the animals that walked about on four legs than those that walked about on two, usually. Seeing Sarigar take off, Arien follows him, not letting the wild man out of his sight.

Draax
Sunday March 6th, 2005 8:55:47 PM

Draax nods his head in a gesture of thanks to Elpanon before following the others to catch up with Sarigar.

Tratain
Sunday March 6th, 2005 8:56:33 PM

Tratain watches Sarigar run off with amusement. He asks Elpanon if he has ever heard of this sleeper that Hegemenes mentioned, after he will follow the others to the Green Man.

Feng
Monday March 7th, 2005 11:35:11 AM

Feng can't help but chuckle at Sarigar's actions. Considering what they know of the wild man such things should be expected. Maybe being in this enviorment will bring him some measure of peace. Feng, mounted on his warhorse, follows behind the others and takes in the beautiful scenery.

The Greenman. The Woodwose. The Treant. (DM Cayzle)
Monday March 7th, 2005 7:13:46 PM

Before the party dahses off in pursuit of Sarigar, Elpanon the Welcomer says, "Follow the paths lined with maple trees to find the Green Man!"

Sarigar breathes deep the smells of the springtime woodlands, and the stench of the city fades and disappears as he heads deeper into the Sanctuary. The entire area somehow manages to be both wild and tended at the same time. The paths are smooth and clearly marked, but even Black Paws senses he might get lost if he wandered off them. Huge trees meet far overhead, and green light filters down onto swaths of ivy and broad-leafed shade-loving bushes. Birds sing overhead, and Sarigar smells a fox not too far off.

The others catch up to Sarigar and Black Paws in a meadow on a small rise. New-sprouted clover covers the area, as well as a stand of wild tiger lillies, daffodills, and crocuses. There is a path that leads down to a lake, a path back to the entrance, and a path deeper in. That one is lined with ancient maples.

Together, the group takes the maple path. The air grows still, and the brush off the path, thick. Sarigar smells fungi growing. You might feel sleepy, or youthful, as you sense the age of the forest aroundabouts. After a short while, you reach another clearing, but the vast trees almost roof it off a couple hundred feet overhead.

In the center of the clearing is a small tree, maybe 40 feet tall, with a slender trunk, maybe three feet in diameter.

Then a voice comes from the tree, and it is clear that the tree is really a treant.

"Visitors. These seem to be visitors. These visitors have come to the clearing."

The treant turns then, and seems to be listening, but not to you.

Then he does turn to you, and says, "Welcome. Well met. Be at home here."

"Yes, I am the Green Man. The one you want. The Woodwose."

"Tell me the wisdom you seek. What answers do you need? Describe the puzzle you confront."

Sarigar and Black Paws
Monday March 7th, 2005 8:09:17 PM

"Ooo, talking tree. Haven't seen one of those in a long time. Don't think you're like little purple guy that was with us. He was more like me, only smaller, oh, and purple."

The brothers bound about the clearing, relishing in the freedom and wildness they feel here. Sarigar takes to running on all fours as if it were more natural to him than being on two feet.

Draax
Monday March 7th, 2005 10:41:04 PM

Draax is taken aback by the sight of the treant. Although after thinking about it for a second he realizes that it makes perfect sense that the Woodwose is a treant. Elpanon even give them a few hints when she refered to him as the Woodwose instead of Woodwose and the green man was a dead giveaway.

Faking a cough into his hand to get his composure back, Draax looks up at the green man.

"Ah yes, we wish to learn about the elven branch of the Templar of the Wild. Actually we seek the location of an individual that had a note sent to us using an elven member of the Templars of the Wild as the carrier. We would like to know the location of sender of the message, find the elven messenger or locate an elven branch of the Templars of the Wild."

Realizing that he is babbling Draax stops talking and tries to mentally go over what he said to see if it made any sense.

Tratain
Monday March 7th, 2005 11:07:43 PM

Tratain nods at what Draax says and add "I've also heard talk about someone named the sleeper, and there's a crazy gnome talking about something returning, I'd like to know about that aswell if you wouldn't mind."

Feng
Tuesday March 8th, 2005 6:11:43 AM

The sight of a treant was a bit shocking. This place was simply amazing and Feng bet there were all kinds of defenses against invaders. He couldn't imagine what wisdom the Greenman has achieved over the years. Hopefully he will share some of it with them.

Renik
Tuesday March 8th, 2005 6:18:23 AM

As the rogue walks through the idylic woodland his tension slowly ebbs away. Why has he never come here before? What a truly astonishing place. It feels so... old. So calm. Like he has fallen into a deep green pool, and is drifting ever so slowly downward...

He is snapped awake by the words of The Woodwose, whom in truth he had completely failed to spot. The seductive lure of this ancient place had all but ensnared him, and he curses himself for a fool. He of all people should remember the silent power of the wood.

He stands scowling at himself as the others pose the questions, and a perverse part of him is inclined to ask "I'd like to know the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything", just to see how clever this Treant really is. He bites back the flippant remark, however, aware that decorum is called for when conversing with a being such as this.

The Price to Pay (DM Cayzle)
Tuesday March 8th, 2005 11:52:17 PM

The Woodwose pauses for a moment before answering, and then turns to Tratain first.

"The sleeper. The king who rests. The ancient prince."

"Yes, something is happening. Something truly stirs. Change comes on tidal currents."

"That is why I need you. Eyes and ears. Scouts and spies."

"I know the Templars. The one you seek. A elf leader of druids."

"I will tell, for a price. The price of knowledge. The cost for information."

"I need to know what is happening in the Wold. The druids must learn more. There are events afoot to track."

"Make reports to me. Let me scry you. Tell me what is happening in the Wold."

"If you agree to be my eyes, ears, nose. If you will gather information for me. If you promise to make reports."

"Then I will tell you how to find the man you seek, the one who knows you and challenges you, the one who wrote to you."

"Agreed? Decided? Sealed?"

Renik
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 8:43:06 AM

So that crazy gnome was on the level? Who'd have guessed it? The rogue shrugs aside his ill-temper as the Green Man makes his proposal. Time to get down to business, if they are to have any chance of tracking down the mysterious letter writer. And care is always advisable when dealing and bargaining with Forest-Folk.

"Change comes on tidal currents? Well, they do say a change is as good as a rest. I've never been one for standing still for too long. I suppose I should have realised there would be a cost to any knowledge you might impart, it is often the way of these things.

I see no reason not to do what you ask, but would you care to be a bit more specific? How long do you want us to spy for you? What information do you seek? Where would you have us go? I'd be happy to inform you of the state of mind of the finer lady callers to the Beer and Bath bathing house for the next three weeks, but I suspect your requirements are rather different to my preferred pastimes.

So, in principle I have no problem with your proposal, but would like more detail before anything is agreed, decided or sealed."

Feng
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 9:23:09 AM

Renik had a point. While the treant's request wasn't outrageous they couldn't get tied to him for a long period of time. Assuming how a treant thinks would be a mistake and they really had no idea what he would do with the information they gave.

Arien
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 11:28:55 AM

Of course, Arien thinks to himself, even the plants begin to barter. Arien nods his agreement with Renik's questions, as much as Arien was loathe to act at yet another creature's bidding he knew that what must be, must be.

Draax
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 11:36:54 AM

Draax is also a little cautious about the vagueness of the treant's request. He sees no problem if The Woodwose wants them to report back on things that they see as they go through their lives. He does see a problem if The Woodwose wants to send them to specific places and missions to gather information. Draax is glad that Renik is making the treant clarify his price before they except it.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 3:54:48 PM

"Brother and I gots good eyes and ears. And my nose is better than ever now. But we use em. If we gave em to you, we wouldn't have em any more. And if we were your eyes, ears and noses, what would you use? Hmmm, sounds like it would hurt too. Ooo, I think my head hurts."

Sarigar wanders off to the edge of the clearing rubbing his forehead as if he had a headache.

Tratain
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 4:46:34 PM

Tratain says "It looks like we have no problem looking into things for you as long as we clarify those few things Renik asked about. I'm curious myself about what you seek and where you would have us go. Though it looks like we have an agreement after we sort out those minor details."

Details, details, details! (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 10:37:51 PM

The treant listens carefully to everybody.

"Hmmmm. Hmm. Hmmmm."

First he answers Sarigar, before the wild fellow can scamper off again.

"Use your eyes. Keep them open. Look around."

"Then tell me, report to me, write down what you see."

Speaking now to the entire group, he elaborates ...

"Take this book, this tome, this volume."

"Daily at sunset, before nightfall, in the gloaming."

"I will scry you. I will see you. I will watch you."

"At that time, before dark, under the setting sun."

"Write your report. Tell your tale. Describe what you see."

"In my scrying, I will watch you. With my magic, read what you write. In my pool, see your report."

"Go where you will. Travel freely. Follow your heart."

"Write about omens. Look for signs. Scribe what you learn."

"In one moon, two moons, three moons."

"We are done, finished, and even."

"Agreed? Decided? Sealed?"

After this long speech, he hands you a book of empty pages, with some quills and feather pens. If it is possible to tell from his wooden visage, he seems to be amused at all this, or at least smiling.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday March 9th, 2005 11:19:18 PM

"Brother and I can do that. We always have our eyes open...well...sept when we're sleeping or blinking. Ummm, we dunno how to write. We can draw pictures in the dirt. Even drew some in the snow once. And then there was...OOOOO, what's that?"

Something catches the eye of the brothers and they trapse off into the surrounding foliage to investigate.

Draax
Thursday March 10th, 2005 1:48:57 AM

Draax smiles after listening to the treant explain. "I can live with an agreement like that."

Feng
Thursday March 10th, 2005 9:33:19 AM

That sounded fair. While a lot could happen in three months it would take some time to get even a small view of the state of the Wold. They could take that time off but that would be going against the terms of the deal and he wouldn't let that happen.

Renik
Thursday March 10th, 2005 12:34:30 PM

The rogue shrugs. Their mysterious letter writer has only given them a few more days to find him. If they are off chasing rainbows for this Green Man for the next three moons they will hardly be able to reach him in time. But, when all's said, this could be fun, and the others seem in agreement. He nods and says;

"We have a deal, sir. Agreed, Decided and Sealed."

He takes the book and quills from the treant, stashes them in his amazing trousers (which have turned green for the occasion) and bows. "You will hear from us this evening as the sun sets. Farewell, Green Man."

As he he makes to leave he ponders on things past. His childhood in the forest. The death of his father and the great bear who was his constant companion. His duplicitous brother, vanished these many years. The honing of his skills as a spy, and missions for Marcus. The friendship of a halfling who gave him the gift of these fine trousers, and another wholly remarkable book (in need of updating).

He smiles as they walk back down the sun-dappled forest boulevard, and wonders if he will ever see his talkative friend again.

Arien
Thursday March 10th, 2005 4:38:51 PM

Arien thinks a moment before saying, "Let me just clarify this then, we can write what we see no matter where we go then correct? So we could meet this person we seek and still write messages to you in this book and so accomplish your goal and ours at the same time correct?"

Tratain
Thursday March 10th, 2005 8:40:48 PM

Tratain nods and says "Sounds like we have a deal. If you can tell us where to find the elf we need we'll write in the book for you what we see and hear. I'm sure that if you need to get word to us about something or have us follow a certain path you can convey that information to us through nature."

"Hasty Folk" (DM Cayzle)
Thursday March 10th, 2005 10:42:57 PM

The treant's eyes blink at Sarigar's wanderings. And then Renik gets up and leaves!

"Hey now! Hasty Folk! Impatient Visitors!"

"I must tell you. I must show you. I must reveal."

"The lore, the tales, the stories you seek!"

Presumably Renik returns to hear the Treant fulfil his side of the bargain!

The Woodwose answers Arien.

"Yes, of course, and without doubt."

"Go where you will, hither and yon, to see who you want."

"Just be watchful. Keep your bargain. Write your reports."

"And I will be content. Satisfied. And pleased."

Then the treant says something a little surprising. He actually wants you to wait here with him for the moon to rise. Then he will tell you what he knows. He says, in his roundabout way, that some stories are best told in moonlight. In the meantime, make yourselves at home here, and share his meal. He offers pure water and grapes, and strawberries, but they are delicious and filling. For dessert, there is honeycomb.

After dinner, when a moon is high, he slowly draws a circle by sprinkling sand on the ground. He pauses, as if listening to voices no one else can hear. Then he gives each of you a handful of black and white stones.

"Reach, throw, and cast."

"And ask, wonder, and dwell."

"Drop your stones, open your minds, speak your desires."

"Then you shall know, and I will reveal, and you shall see."

The Green Man gestures to the sand circle. A beam of silver falls from the sky into the circle. What do you do? What do you say?

Sarigar and Black Paws
Thursday March 10th, 2005 11:25:30 PM

Sarigar eventually wanders back into the clearing shortly before the Green Man hands out the stones. He examines the stones curiously, poking at them, sniffing them, holding them up to the light. He shrugs, "Looks like good skipping stones. I should try them later. Not sure why they got color though, don't need color to skip good."

When he hears that he's supposed to drop the stones, he looks at them again, shrugs, and tosses them to the ground and watches them as if expecting them to do something. He kneels down, and pokes one as if trying to coax it into doing something special. Even Black Paws dips his nose down and nudges one. "Ummm, I think they're broke. They don't do nothin', just sit there."

When the silvery streak falls down from the sky, the brothers look up at it in awe, then sit down and enjoy the show.

Renik
Friday March 11th, 2005 7:48:07 AM

Grinning the rogue returns to the clearing. "My apologies, Green Man, I am too impatient. I will rest a while here with you."

Renik eats and dozes a short while in the cool springtime afternoon. When handed the stones he shakes them as he would dice, closes his eyes then throws them down. He opens his eyes again and gazes down at the pattern of his black and white stones in the lit circle.

Feng
Friday March 11th, 2005 10:00:31 AM

Feng rolls the stones over in his hand while thinking about what the Greenman said. After several long minutes Feng sets the stones down outside the circle.

"I appreciate the offer but I must decline. I don't wish to know what the future holds because I believe things will happen as they should."

Draax
Friday March 11th, 2005 12:05:30 PM

Draax takes the stones and thinks about all the things that he might want to know. He realizes that at this moment the only thing that he really desires is to know the location of the one they seek. "Oh well." Casting the stones Draax closes his eyes and his mind flashes between the mystery of the sleeper and the message sender, but all he says is "I just wish to learn the history and location of the one we seek."

Tratain
Friday March 11th, 2005 4:33:30 PM

Tratain takes the stones and clears his mind like he has been taught at the Temple. He casts the stones and says "Who sent us the letter and where can we find him. Who is the sleeper and what dangers does he pose."

Revelations (DM Cayzle)
Saturday March 12th, 2005 1:14:43 PM

The Green Man first answers Feng.

"The future? What is to come? That yet to be?"

"No, that is not the bargain. That is not agreed. No one asked for the future."

"I only reveal what is. I show things as they are. Not past nor future."

Feng can choose to throw or not, given this info.

The stones are cast, and they form a pattern inside the sand circle, a rune, maybe, that none of you recognize. Or rather, they almost form a rune -- two stones are clearly out of place. Then Sarigar and Black Paws nudge two stones, and the pattern is complete.

You see the Green Man change into a bird. You see him fly out of this grove and then east. You see that it is dawn as he leaves Plateau City. You are flying on his right, and there is a third bird on his left. The three of you fly east down the Plateaus. You fly past towns and a fort, over fields, and then to the coast. Still you fly east out to sea. The sun is still high in the sky, and you fly across open water. Then you fly on, east again, and you come to land, hilly land, covered in forest. Beasts roar as you fly overhead, and you fly into the deep woods, among tall trees. In the trees you see tree houses. You fly to the tallest tree house as the sun sets, and through a window, and within is an elf wearing armor made of green dragon hide, writing at a desk.

You see that what he is writing is a spell. You understand the spell. If you can cast spells, you think you could cast this.

As the last rays of the setting sun shine on the paper, you see that under the spell are these words written: He is sleeping, but they will awaken him!

The vision ends, and the Woodwose shows you to bowers of sweet grass, and bids you goodnight. He refuses to talk any further, except to remind you to make your reports.

Any casters among you now have access to this spell. You can cast it just like any other first level spell. If you are a wizard, you know it as you know Read Magic, without needing it in your book. If you are a sorcerer or bard, you can now spontaneously cast it, in addition to the usual spells you know. You will need the required focus to cast it, though.

Elven Vision

Transmutation
Level: Cleric 1, Druid 1, Bard 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1, Witch 1
Components: V,S,F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 10 min/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes

The spell grants the spellcaster elven sight. The caster gains low light vision. In addition, he receives a +2 bonus to Spot and Search, and can automatically check for secret doors when he passes within 5 feet of one. These bonuses are similar to the elven ability and does not stack with natural elven sight. The focus for this spell is an eyelash from an elf or a fey creature, usually embedded for safekeeping in a crystal or locket.

Draax
Sunday March 13th, 2005 5:13:41 PM

Draax observes the vision and follows along as best he can. When it is over and the group is dismissed by the Woodwose, Draax looks at the others to see if they are as confused as he is.

"Wow, I hope one of you was able to getting some meaning out of that. I only came away with more questions than I had when we first approached him. At first I was sure that the elf was our message sender, but now I don't know if he is the one or just a link to the sleeper. Anyone recognized what land that was? I have no navigational skills over water and although I know the vision went east it is hard for me to measure distance over water. I also hope that body of water the vision flew over was not the Dragon Bay because we will have a hard time getting a ship to take us there."

Draax sighs, "I know I am missing something. It was too simple of a vision to be as complication as I am making it. What did the rest of you get out of it?"

Renik
Sunday March 13th, 2005 5:41:14 PM

"It makes no more sense to me, I'm afraid" ponders the rogue. "It seems our treant friend is as in the dark on this as we are though; I suggest we just do what he suggested, record our experiences without interpretation. Hopefully it will make some sense to him eventually, and then we will be able to get a name and location of the person we seek. But all this talk of a Sleeper is starting to unnerve me a little. As for where we flew; by the sun we seemed to head due east, which would take us across the Dragon Bay by my reckoning. I don't know of the land we saw once we crossed that bay, but it would lie some considerable distance from here.

Arien, that spell; have you ever experienced anything remotely like that? I almost felt as if I could cast it, whilst within the vision. Are you able to cast it now? I confess this has me at a loss."

Before the rogue retires he records the events of the vision as best he can in the treant's book, then lays down for a night filled with dreams of flying.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Sunday March 13th, 2005 11:47:35 PM

The brothers do nothing but stare to the east. For hours, they just sit, staring, almost as if they're watching some prey in the distance.

Tratain
Monday March 14th, 2005 10:39:43 PM

Tratain is confused by the vision he says "I didn't know there was anything that far to the east, I think I'll try and find a map and see. I think in order to reach that place anytime soon we will need to teleport there. It seemed like it wa s a long way away."

Spell & Map (DM Cayzle)
Monday March 14th, 2005 11:52:36 PM

All the spellcasters are sure they can cast the Elven Vision spell.

Draax, Renik, Sarigar, and Tratain all seem convinced that they have been directed east across Dragon Bay. But all they know suggests that such a course would be insanely dangerous.

In the morning, leaving the Druids' Quarter, Tratain gets his hand on a map and confirms the group's suspicions. East across Dragon Bay, to a forest on the coast across the Bay from New Elenna.

Draax
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 8:01:42 AM

Looking at Tratain's map Draax agees with Tratian about being transported to the place. As he lets out another sigh he takes note that he has been sighing a lot lately. "I hate that we keep going into to these type of thing on blind faith, but that seem to be our curse. Since our time is running out I suggest we spend the next day or two trying to find out as much as we can about the forest and if we can find a guide or at least someone with a little knowledge about it. Gordo's Transport on the gold level might be a good place to start. While there we can also see about booking transport to the place. We've dealt with Nyrashal Woodcock the last time we needed to be teleported over the Dragon Bay and he seem to like to go to places that are hard to reach. Any other ideas about where we can find information?"

Unless someone else has a better suggestion Draax heads towards Gordo's Transport.

Feng
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 10:19:53 AM

Feng thinks about the vision and what it could mean. Is this elf they saw friend or foe? Feng isn't sure of either. "The vision raises more questions than answers I'm afraid. DId everybody catch what was written below the spell? I believe that he was aware that we were watching. While my knowledge of clerical magic is very limited I do know that the few spells I can call upon act nothing like how you claim that spell works. Who is going to be awakened and will we be the ones to do it? I think that spell you all saw could be meant to help us. If we find that the spell you all learned is very useful then thats a little to convenient for me."

[OOC: Guys, you are in Plateau City, right? Gordo's Transport is in the Float. Or am I missing something?]

Stan/Draax
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 12:47:25 PM

OOC: You are right, I made a mistake.

Sarigar and Black Paws
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 5:30:47 PM

The following day, the brothers mill about the Druid quarter, but despite their meanderings, they seem to find themselves wandering near the East wall of the quarter. Occasionally, they return to the Green man's clearing, but it's obvious they won't get any more answers from him, even if they knew what to ask.

Tratain
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 8:50:31 PM

Tratain says "Lets see if the Temple Mage can take us there. If not we may have to head to the Floating City like Draax said and see if someone from Gordo's Transport can take us. If I recall correctly no ships sail across the Dragon Bay, and it will take us too long to walk. Arien and I should be able to get us all to the big float tomorrow if we can't find quicker transportation."

News from the Bay (DM Cayzle)
Tuesday March 15th, 2005 10:09:06 PM

The Temple Mage has news: Since the dragons attacked the city not long ago, a plague came upon them and killed almost all. If you want to get across, they say it is not the suicide trip it once was. Not for a powerful enough group.

Feng
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 10:10:07 AM

"I see we have a chance to test our mettle once more. If magical transport is out of the question then perhaps we should get prepared for the journey. I reccomend picking up a ring of sustenance. It could prove most beneficial if our journey gets sidetracked."

Draax
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 12:36:24 PM

"If what you heard from the Temple Mage is true we might be able to book passage to the island. Their tone still makes me think that it is a dangerous journey, but not as dangerous as it used to be. I guess we can find a ship that is stupid enough... I mean uh... willing to take us there. Any captain that will take his ship there will probably have some idea of the island."

Arien
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 1:00:10 PM

"We could try asking the Star Mages, they have the means but I do not know if they are willing. This talk of a sleeper makes me wonder, I should ask the Star Mages if they have heard of anything by that name."

Renik
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 4:07:13 PM

Renik also quizzes Matthias Bottleneck, the resident wizard, and his apprentice Bolthomas. "Do you know of this land across the bay? Are you able to teleport us there?"

He is decidedly wary about embarking on an ocean voyage across the bay. It would take a great deal of time.

(OOC: Sorry about the missed post folks, an insane couple of days at work. And sick too. Nice.)

Sarigar and Black Paws
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 5:25:37 PM

In a daze of insight, the brothers return to where they first encountered their disappearing wild place as close to the same time as they did before. Although they dislike the city streets, they remain in the vicinity for as long as they can stomach it.

Tratain
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 8:58:14 PM

Tratain says "Asks the Mages at the temple if they can teleport the group across the bay. If they are not able Tratain suggests that they head off towords the port and attempt to book passage across the bay."

A boating we will go? (DM Cayzle)
Wednesday March 16th, 2005 11:06:00 PM

Renik asks Matthias Bottleneck about the lands beyond Dragon Bay. But little is known, beyond strange reports that it is dangerous and wild.

Sarigar finds a three-leaf clover.

After making inquiries, it is clear that no mage will try the teleport. No one has a good mental fix, and the strong lines of magic around the Bay make it even more of a problem.

Tratain finds a captain who is willing to make the passage. He is a charming, strong specimen, with fair hair and a self-assured way to him.

"Sure, I'll take you across Dragon Bay," he says. "Jawsett Franklins is at your service! I have never shirked from a chance to test myself, and I have wanted to try my hand against the currents of Dragon Bay for quite a while! A thousand gold a head, I charge, and double for horses and monsters. We leave with the tides tonight!"

Renik
Thursday March 17th, 2005 5:35:02 AM

The rogue raises his eyebrows. There are six of them along with Feng's fabulous warhorse. "Eight thousand? We could almost buy our own ship for that! Fabulous, a quest into the unknown for questionable reward on a ship captained by a man whose greed is only outweighed by his death wish. How do I get myself into these messes?"

Despite his grumbling Renik will pay up if the others are game. The twinkle in his eye suggests that he is rather more excited at the prospect of action and adventure than his grumpy exterior would suggest.

Draax
Thursday March 17th, 2005 10:26:34 AM

Draax has no problem with the requested fee for transport across the water. Before paying he wants to make sure that he knows exactly what he is paying for. To the captain he says, "This fee is for a round trip passage, right? How long are you going wait for us to return to your ship or will you return to pick us up?"

Once they come to an understanding for passage Draax will hand over his fee if the others are in agreement.

Tratain
Thursday March 17th, 2005 12:33:28 PM

Tratain says loud enough for the captain to hear "Renik is Right, we could buy our own ship for that much."
Tratain looks at his map and trys to figure out how far they have to travel, both across the bay or if they have to travel up and around.
Tratain says again loud enough for the captain to hear "I'd Rather sail there and save my spells, but 8,000 gold is just too much. I'd pay half that, but I'll simply wind walk us there tomorrow. It will probably be quicker anyway."

Tratain waits to see what the captain or Renik says about his Idea.

OOC: Tratain can Memorize 2 Windwalk spells that will last 12 hours each. The group will be able to Travel at 60 MPH. If we don't want to sail we can either try and go straight across the bay or go up and around. I'm not sure how far we have to go but we could travel up to 720 miles per day.

Feng
Thursday March 17th, 2005 6:25:51 PM

"Seven thousand?" Feng says in astonishment. The amount is just staggering and surely there is better use for their gold than to line this man's pockets. "Do not worry about Degg. When needed to comes from a higher plain and returns there after a short time. I think we need to look at other means of transportation than paying one thousand per head."

Sarigar and Black Paws
Thursday March 17th, 2005 11:25:20 PM

Sarigar looks at the boat, gentle thumping up against the dock, then looks at his feet, stomps them a little to test the firmness of the ground on which he's standing.

"Why does that building move? I'm not moving, so it's not the ground."

He leans over and pokes Arien, then whispers to him, "Did you do that with one of them spells you showed me?

He doesn't bat an eye when the captain mentions that beasts cost double. Black Paws is more human in his eyes than most any person he's ever met.

ooc: Black Paws is not only a "monster", but he's also nearly the size of a horse. Oh, and it's completely impossible to leave him behind, unless of course you want the brothers to die a very slow, lonely and painful death (they take damage that can't be healed when seperated by a certain distance).

Why ride waves, when you can ride the wind? (DM Cayzle)
Thursday March 17th, 2005 11:56:26 PM

You balk at the high cost demanded, and Tratain suggests Wind Walking across the Bay. In fact, that seems like both the fastest and cheapest way of all.

Please make any final arrangements before you set out. Anyone you want to contact? Anything you want to buy? Any messages you would like to send? Now's the time, because after tomorrow you will be in the Wild Lands beyond the Bay of Dragons (if all goes according to plan)!

Tratain
Friday March 18th, 2005 1:22:22 PM

Tratain says to the others Find something white to wear before tomorrow, if anyone should see us while we are crossing the bay we should look like clouds. Should we go tell the Temple where we are going before we head out tomorrow?"

In the mourning Tratain will memorize the Windwalk spells and Travel with the others across the bay.

Draax
Friday March 18th, 2005 5:32:41 PM

Draax is surprise that the group did not take the greedy captain up on his offer of transport. He is a little dubious about wind walking their way to the land beyond the bay, but is satisfied by Tratain description of the spell that it will work.

Draax checks on his horse and leave 50gp for its upkeep.

"I think we should let the temple know where we are going or at least let them know that we will not be available for any missions for awhile."

Arien
Friday March 18th, 2005 8:44:51 PM

Arien chuckles briefly when Sargiar asks him about the ground before saying, "That building is like the leaf upon a river, only bigger and sturdier, hopefully."

Sarigar and Black Paws  d8=5 d4=3 d4=4 d4=4 d4=3 d4=1
Friday March 18th, 2005 11:30:11 PM

"Ooohhh, I think I get it. Hmm, maybe not. Why would someone put their house on water if it's like a leaf? I've seen leaves sink all the time. House on the water's gonna sink too, isn't it? I don't think I wanna get on a sinking house. I swim good, but if I don't have to, I don't wanna."

When Tratain suggests finding something white to wear tomorrow, the brothers begin wandering relatively aimlessly around town. Should he come across some white laundry hanging on some clothesline that looks like it might be large enough to cover himself and his brother, he will approach the seeming owner of the house. He will offer a handful of coins (5 coins, 2cp 1sp 1gp 1pp) from his bag for the white clothes/sheets.

ooc: d8 roll was for the number of coins, the d4s were for the coin type 1 = pp, 2 = gp, 3 = sp, 4 = cp

Last Night In Plateau City (DM Cayzle)  d100=32
Saturday March 19th, 2005 12:28:19 AM

The group makes preparations for tomorrow's Wind Walking. Sarigar not only finds that his coins are welcomes, but he gets a tasty ham pie into the deal.

Draax finds a safe stable for his horse.

Tratain thinks about whoever he wants to notify -- and does so (let me know in your next post).

So you rest and wait for the morning's big journey across the Bay of Dragons. Little did you know that the evening would bring a journey to a couple of you ... Draax, a half-elf, and Arien, an elf ... across a Bay of Dreams ...

Renik
Saturday March 19th, 2005 6:19:00 AM

Renik is far keener on flying at high speed than he is lurching about in a rickety tub captained by a suicidal con-man. "Good plan Tratain. But white? That's so last season."

He pops into the Temple to update Kiriana on their activities and to pick up any further news from their spymaster.

When Renik returns to the group he is sporting a gray doeskin waistcoat, fine gray silk shirt, and his magical pants have become a soft gray also. Wrapped in his gray elven cloak he looks a little like an out-of focus storm cloud. As he approaches he hums to himself:
"How Sweet to be a Cloud
Floating in the Blue!
Every little cloud
Always sings aloud.
How Sweet to be a Cloud
Floating in the Blue!
It makes him very proud
To be a little cloud"
He bids the others goodnight and heads off for a good night's rest before the next day's adventure.
