Armand finds it interesting although isn't really sure there was value in it. Atlas rightfully notes that these things often provide cryptic or mysterious answers.
Armand's knowledge of religion is pretty good. Does a religion need a temple? Perhaps there are many temples and not just one? Perhaps it doesn't need a temple at all? Why, priests of Maab are quite happy to celebrate her any time they are outdoors. Could this religion be similar?
Osul has an interesting take on things. Perhaps it was just the beliefs of these men and not necessarily the ansolute fact?
Neshi is a little confused by the whole mess. Best she can tell by the priest the men really didn't have a lot in common.
Armand has one final question for the priests. Where did the dead men live? "They've been here, why, many years now. I can't put my finger on it specifically, but certainly a long time" He then gives Armand some brief directions to the northern edge of the town.
Atlas finds an eager young lad ready to help a hero, and dashes off the find the guards as quick as he can, stumbling a little in his haste.
Owen and Atlas seem to be in agrement that now is a good time to stick together. There's no telling how widespread this group may be or what resources they may have.
Neshi and Elyngael come up with a plan. First stop, Faithe. Next stop. Rosa. After that, the houses of the would be assassins.

When the guards arrive and the priests well cared for the party are free to make their way to Faithe's house. It's not much of a walk and the town is still very peaceful (despite the recent attack in the street less than an hour ago). People just going about their business. The party seem to be getting recognised now as the locals give warm smiles and tips of hats in your direction.
Approaching her house you can see if it quite a nice place. A small white painted picket fence around a wooden cabin. Modest for a common person but it has a "home-y" feel to it. Between the front door and the fence is a small vegetable patch. Kneeling in the dirt and pulling out fresh carrots is a small, auburn haired women with a blue apron. On seeing you approach she gives you a smile and then turns her attention back to the carrots.

Atlas moves up to the gate, steps to the side and pushes it open with one hand to allow the others through. Upon doing so he starts to introduce the group, but hearing Owen first, he cuts himself off and just offers the lady a friendly smile. Neshi looks for things that might seem out of place. In fact most of the party do. Neshi's eyes are the weakest, however Atlas Osul and Elyngael are quite aware. It seems like a reasonably quiet part of town. The house is in good condition and well cared. The nieghbouring houses are much the same. There is nothing particularly distinctive about this house nor the adjacent ones. There is also nothing out of place here. No ominous figures lurking in the shadows, no signs of combat.
The neighbours are trying to discreetly see what the party are doing.
Khan has a sniff around the place but can't detect anything specific.
Owen and Armand do the talking. Owen politely gets the womans attention while Armand begins the chat.
"It's... it's nice to meet you" she wipes some of the sweat from her brow. Faithe backs away a little at seeing all of these figures who have come to see her and who currently stand out the front of her house.
"Disappearance? I'm sorry however there must be a misunderstanding. My husband - Josun - is fine. He left to go hunting only yesterday. He should be back in a few days should you want to meet with him. I'm sorry if you have wasted your time"

"Faithe" is right. Again, possibly, what she believes. 'Osul buys into the conversation, whilst looking up close at the plants in the garden. "Did Josun say what he was hunting?". If nothing else, he is trying to guage if Faithe thinks he was hunting alone, or in company.

"Was the priest mistaken?, I suppose it could be a misunderstanding. maybe she is lying for some reason. Is she afraid of something or someone?
Neshi shakes his head as if to clear all these thoughts from it and tries to focus on what else is being said and done.

Atlas and Neshi are both quite confused. Do they have the right house? He acknowledges the neighbours who quickly turn their heads aaway, probably realising they have been caught spying or eavesdropping or something like that. He whispers something to Armand.
Armand offers a blessing upon the house and casts a spell. It isn't discreet - everyone recognises a spell being cast - so he tries to conceal it that he is offering a blessing upon the house. An interesting approach.
Osul opts in and asks about the hunt. What is he after? "I don't know. Probably a bear or something. Whatever he can find really" Her body language indicates she is becoming uncomfortable
Armand then follows up with more questions. 'What' has been answered, but the 'where' has not. "He's hunting, ok? I don't know where he is. He's just out hunting somewhere" She really seems agitated now.
It's clear to Osul that it's not just agitation. Faithe is scared. Like on the verge of terrified scared. It's more than just talking to strangers. It's fear. Armand can tell quite clearly that Faithe is lying when she says her husband is hunting, however is telling the truth when she says she doesn't know where he is.
Elyngael tries a little female-to-female chat but Faithe is having none of it. "I.. I'm sorry. I have to go" She even seems to recoil from Elyngael as she draws closer. Now very clearly flustered and without so much as a goodbye Faithe presses past Elyngael and makes for the front door of her house, tripping slightly on the front step but not pausing.
Whilst most of the neighbours have turned their heads away there is a rather large man leaning next to the building behind you. He doesn't quite fit in with the appearance of the locals but also doesn't try to conceal his appearance like the assassins. His hair is blonde whilst his beard is red. Quite unusual. Strapped to his back is a large, shiny greatsword. He hasn't spoken and is simply watching the interactions.

"And what do you all think of that man over there? He's looking at us like he knows us or something."

Armand whirls on the newcomer. Making sure the newcomer is in range of the Zone of Truth spell, he asks, "Who are you? What are you doing lurking around here? How do you know we are investigating something?"
To the others in the group. "I don't like this. Faithe is clearly being intimidated by someone. We should move on and act very dejected in case we are being watched concerning talking to her. I'm afraid Rosa may be intimidated as well. Perhaps we should hurry over instead to the residences of Ton & Tuldil and Jahnud. Hopefully we can get there before the guy that got away."
Armand eyes the new guy again. He leans over to Atlas, "Mighty convenient time to show up if you know what I mean. Wish Culver was still with us, having a Paladin give someone the once over sure is handy at times."

Owen is immediately concerned for Faithe. He comes up with a few ideas including her being threatened or Josun being involved. Armand too is bothered. He suggests putting on an act in case the party are being watched and a possible course of action.
The group are all wary about this new comer.
Armand is first up with a number of questions whilst keeping that Zone of Truth up. Elyngael wonders whether he may be a hunter, and Neshi is also alert.
Osul is correct - anyone within 20ft of Armand needs to make a Will Save against a Zone of Truth spell. It is also not a dismissable spell so Armands options are to keep it up, or take the good graces of the DM and say that it has expired.
It looks like it is introduction time!

Atlas watches as the others make their introductions. He doesn't directly stand between the group and this individual, but his movement to a position that ensures he can intercept him if needed is done with the intent to be noticed. He waits until the others have made their introductions, prefering to take the time to study the man. When the time comes, "I'm Atlas, and I'm going to cut to the chase. You look like someone that knows how to handle themselves, and you're already involved with this in some way. I would rather you work with us. Either you are a good man and it makes things better when we're not scaring people on two separate occasions, or you're one of them and it allows us to keep an eye on you. I expect we'll find out which it is soon enough."

The big man with the sword is Atlas. Owen here is a wizard. 'Osul is a druid. The liontaur, Yurr'Neshi, there is a sorcerer I believe. And Elyngael is the elf with a bow, don't mind her panther follower Khan. On second though to mind him, he can be a little bad tempered at times."
Once around a bend or two Armand turns to Owen. "What were you wanting to cast? Do we have time or should we hurry along to Rosa's house.
He turns to the new guy because technically you have not told us your name yet"What do you know about what's going on in the city?"

Eventually he chimes in, "There is certainly a need to get to know one another, but time is a ticking and whoever scared off Faithe is already ahead of us. We should pick up the pace and we'll ensure we get to the niceties when we stop people from dying."
Atlas is all business, but he's not giving any indication he's put off or upset. He is just worried about what they'll find at the next home and when the next person is going to be killed on their watch. To that end, he's in a hurry.

The questions for the newcomer keep on coming (and your DM will let him answer them as he chooses rather than force things).
Atlas is concerned as to what may lay at the house ahead, whilst Neshi and Elyngael discuss heading back for a covert chat with Faithe.
The walk to Rose's house is brief and uneventful. Her house is equally as nice as Faithe's. A simple wooden house that is obviously well cared for and in excellent condition. There is no front garden however. Sitting on the porch is a middle-aged woman doing some needlepoint stitching. She's humming to herself and seems to be in good sprits.
She doesn't look to have noticed you yet. If you wish to split up or if anyone wants to head somewhere else, you might be free to.

I'm guessing we are about to get the same answer out of her. Maybe a different approach this time. El, Neshi, before you go back to Faithe's house, let's see what we get here."
Atlas looks over the group. "Let's just send 1 person. Do we send the kind looking old man or do we send a female for her to bond with? Which is more likely to make her feel at ease?" Atlas winks at Armand before he can scowl at him for the 'old' comment.

He can track back to me and fetch me if you need me quick like."
Elyngael tells Khan to pay attention to what Armand tells him to do.

Osul stays with Neshi near the back but close enough to be able to hear the conversation.
Atlas suggests only one person going to approach Rose so as not to intimidate her.
Erik has been through this before so stays back. She may give a different story to this new group. It will be interesting to see.
Owen considers scrying on Josun. Given a scrying spell has a 1hr casting time he might want to reconsider doing it right now in the street.
Elyngael wants to go check back on Faithe and keep an eye on her house. She leaves Khan in Armand's care. Elyngael tracks back through the shadows to find a good vantage point. The roof tops are all fairly low and perching on top of one would make her quite visible. Provided she stays very still the tree diagonally across the road would suffice as a hiding spot. She sits and waits.
Armand is the one who greets the woman as he approaches in as friendly a manner as he can. She has dark brown hair cut in a 'bob' style and her skin looks a little weathered from spending time in the sun. Her lips are thin and her eyes clear and bright. "Renul asked?" she places her needlework down on her lap to talk "Why, that's kind of you to check in on me but it's not necessary. Everyone has been so supportive ever since Hedyn passed. It's ok though. I'm sure Lord Gargul will embrace him and find him worthy of the Lands of Rest"

Armand discreetly signals the party to take a look around.
Osul approaches and admires the needlework, probably just to keep her calm yet get close enough to check things out. He doesn't see anything out of place, simply a woman doing some decorative stitching. You've been around Armand long enough to know that she is sewing what looks like the high Woldian symbol for Gargul.
There is some discussion in the group as to scouting. Atlas holds his ground for the moment however recognising the signal Owen suggests a little stroll might be worthwhile.
Neshi makes himself invisible and starts the walk back to Faithe's house. I *think* Erik is doing the same.
Elyngael stays hidden in the tree to make sure everything is 'normal'.
Elyngael ONLY Highlight to display spoiler: {Faithe's house stays quiet. No visitors coming or going. Best you can tell is that Faithe is still inside. What is interesting is the man making his way up the street. He's doing his best to stay in the shadows, moving in between buildings and trying to stay out of sight as best he can. He seems to be quite on edge and keeps checking about in all directions - not specifically at Faithe's house or the direction the party went. He is heading in the general direction of the party however they are currently not in sight of each other. You don't see any weapons on him}

To Rose he says, "Gargul's will calls all in their proper time." He bows to Rose and goes back to the street. There he casts Detect Magic and takes a last look back at Rose to see if any kind of Geas or compulsion spell has been cast on her. Spellcraft 12 (d20+12) or at least if there is a spell since he could not identify it.
Then he looks around for everyone, or anyone but finds the party seems to be wandering off a bit. He will walk up the street a bit just to be away from Rose's house. Generally he is walking toward Ton and Tuldil's home. Assuming the brothers lived together.

Making their way back to Faith's house, Neshi tries to keep an eye out for anyone that seems to be showing any interest in Faith's home. when he arrives he makes his way to the rear of the house hoping for some kind of rear entry.
Looking carefully to see if anyone is around and watching Perception 12 (natural 1) dismisses the invisibility and knocks on the rear door.

Armand tries to piece things together. It is not unheard of for a burial to take place without a priest of Gargul present. Is it unusual when one is in town? Perhaps.
Osul checks out the holy symbol and compares it with the one Rose is stitching. They are darn near identical. Quite impressive for a woman doing this without any guide to follow.
Armand gives a bow to Rose and goes back to the street, casting a spell as he does so. Rose looks confused - as everyone knows when a spell is being cast - but gives a small wave and goes back to her stitching. Armand does not see any sign of an enchantment aura. Surprisingly though he does see a faint abjuration aura surrounding Rose.
Osul and Armand turn to continue the walk to the home of the brothers.

Elyngael: Highlight to display spoiler: {You keep following the stranger and watch as he keeps up his routine. Moving between shadows and places to hide, looking about, and then quickly moving on. He's certainly making his way towards the rest of the party. You watch and you can see him get spooked by something. He looks up the street and then quickly dives between two buildings. You can hear some sort of metal clattering move down the street but you don't actually see anything that might be causing it. Up ahead you can see Atlas, Owen and Khan approaching. They appear unaware of the man.}

Invisi-Neshi and Invisi-Erik makes the walk back to Faithe's house undisturbed. Neither of you have any idea what happened to Elyngael but trust she is hiding somewhere.
Neshi knocks on the rear door of Faithe's house and waits to see what happens. It takes a few moments but he can see Faithe peek out the window before she withdraws behind the door. "Please. I've asked you to leave. I've nothing more to say. Please. Just go"

The rest of the party (ie: Atlas, Owen and Khan) start the walk back to Faithe's house. Something weird is going on and they just can't put their collective fingers on it. Atlas best sums it up.
You've barely made it halfway when you hear a distinct "Pssst!". There's a man hiding between two of the buildings trying to get your attention. The gap is only a few feet wide - 5 at the most - and he's nestled in quite deeply. He's gesturing with his hands for you to come into the space as well "Quickly!" he whispers. He looks like quite a normal ordinary person. He's not wearing rags or looking disheveled. He looks quite well presented in fact with a pair or ordinary trousers and a clean shirt. You don't see any obvious weapon in his possession.

He doesn't go all the way in though, he just steps up to the entrance and says, "You must think us fools if you think we're going to walk into an alley with a stranger acting like you are. We're blocking the alley now, no one can see you, so what's your business?"

Armand keeps walking toward the directions they have for Ton & Tuldil's house. Perhaps he is now walking at a brisk pace. "I'm not sure what were looking for 'Osul. I think that's part of the problem. We know there's some sort of cult lurking about from what we've been told. Maybe we can find some sort of clue or other at Ton & Tuldil. Maybe ask their neighbors what they know about the two, where they work, where they hang out, who they hang out with. I think that might be our best option since their attempt at Renul is recent and except for the one that got away they might not have time to tie up loose ends there."
As the walk he says, "I think I'm going to keep detect magic going for while. No telling what there may be in front of us."

Neshi and Erik press Faithe for further information. "There is nothing more to say. I must insist that you leave before I call for the guard" Faithe speaks quite loudly and forcefully and then stops talking. Things are quiet for a good minute. Though it seems you have hit a dead-end you eventually see a small piece of paper slip underneath the bottom of the door. It reads: "Help! They already know you came here today. It's not safe for me to be seen talking to you even now. Please go, but I pray you come back when it's dark. Don't let them see you. Please help me"

Armand and Osul leave Rose and start a slow walk down the road. They don't make it very far however as they discuss what has happened. Armand goes over what he has gathered so far and let's Osul in on the detection of the abjuration spell. What to do with that information though.

Owen is happy to approach, curious about the man.
Despite the man clearly being unarmed the party have had too many surprises to take any chances. Atlas raises his shield and prepares his sword. Elyngael draws her bow and puts Khan on alert. She is unable to make it to the other end of the alley/gap between the houses as it would take more time to get there with her currently being on the street end of it. It's pretty unlikely he could outrun Khan or an arrow though.
Atlas can't see any signs of a traps, monsters, weapons or spell pouches. A couple of people in the street seem a little startled at the sight of the trio going on the defensive. There are hushed whispers as they start to quickly move away from the scene/area. Otherwise everything seems pretty tame.
Atlas' "diplomacy" is perhaps offset by his actions as the man still seems quite agitated "What are you doing!?!" his whisper is starting to increase in volume "Are you trying to get me killed? For Gargul's sake get off the street before they see you!" He reaches for Owen's sleeve to pull him further into the space. He puts his other hand to his lips "And stay quiet! They have ears everywhere". He isn't the strongest of men though, and Owen can tell that a solid punch would likely drop this man to the ground very quickly.
If tin-foil were a Wold thing he might be wearing a hat of it.

Armand snaps his fingers. He grabs 'Osul's elbow and pulls him along. (Toward Ton & Tuldil's home(s)). "No 'Osul that's just it. We must not go back. At least not right now. Think about it. They've known that the two women have been asking for help about their missing relations. They've had time to prepare. We must get to where they have not had time to react. The attack this morning is recent, too many possible loose ends, how could they know their assassination plot would be foiled and they would loose men."
Armand is walking briskly but not running. "The abjuration spell is likely some form of protection spell. It's not an enchantment. So she could be protected from being compelled to speak the truth or such. Besides like Faithe she too could be intimidated and possibly under watch."
Armand pauses briefly. "What would really be useful is some sort of obscuring mist spell so who ever is on the look out for us looses us in the streets and is not sure where we are headed."

He lowers his shield at Owen's request and steps into the alley out of the way of prying eyes. He lowers his voice to a conspiratorial tone, "I'm sorry friend, but there are strange things happening and there is no telling who might be involved. We're in your alley now, out of the view of others. Can you answer my friend's question?"

Armand and Osul continue their quick walk towards the house of the brothers, not wanting to waste any further time dallying about the street. The road is fairly straight and with no real crossroads up ahead. There are small paths in-between the different houses and buildings that provide a number of ways off the main road though.
Osul counts at least 5 different ways they could go at the current moment: back the way they came, continue down the road, two alleys on the left, one alley on the right. There are a few townsfolk ahead and behind. None can be seen down any of the alleys.
Osul gives Amand a warning and then casts the Obscuring Mist spell. In terms of creatures he has seen recently? If you can see it around a typical town you have seen it here: cats, dogs, birds, horses, maybe even a cow or two.

Meanwhile the rest face the crazy man.
The man lowers his head, holds his hands slightly in front of himself, and takes a few steps back from the group. He appears to be quite submissive.
"You're from out of town so you're probably not one of them. Or maybe you are now? Either way, I'm in trouble." he says in a hushed voice. He keeps anxiously looking out at the street behind you.
"Earl. Earl Russell. Look, you've got to protect me. They're out to get me." No doubt seeing a few confused faces Earl continues "I saw you when you arrived. You're investigating the missing people too, am I right? That's how it starts. That's how it started for me. I asked too many questions and was getting too close. The people I spoke with? They're missing now too.
Now they're out to get me. I don't know who 'specifically', but they are. I see people following me and I hear them at night outside my room. They're after me and are probably after you as well now. Anyone you have spoken with will probably be in danger too. Look, you have to help me get out of town and make sure they don't follow."

Atlas begins, "Hi Earl, yes, we are here investigating the missing people and I believe you. Can you tell us what you have learned? Then we can help you with arrangements. I know just the place to keep you safe until we can get to the bottom of all this." Atlas does his best to use calm and soothing words, but the man's words have him worried about Faithe and Rose, so he's not coming across as he would like at the moment.
When he sees El coming up he says to her in a hushed voice, so that Earl knows he is being taken seriously, "Hey El, could you put a watch on Faithe's house to ensure no one takes her as well? This man is suggesting that anyone we talk to is in danger of disappearing like the others and I couldn't live with that on my conscience. As soon as we get him somewhere safe we'll come back to you and figure out our next steps."

Armand and Osul wait until the mist is thick and then duck out the side towards an alley: Osul as a dog. It's a little distracting for Armand who fails to notice little else. You don't think anyone noticed you. The rest of the party have a quiet chat with the man. Neshi and Erik find them easily enough. New people in town with weapons, armor and a tiger stand out pretty clearly - especially since they're on the same road.
Elyngael tries to reassure Earl that the group can be trusted and explains the reason why she needs to leave. "Yes. No doubt more are in danger. You should go, but be careful." Earl makes no attempt to stop Elyngael in any way nor convince her otherwise.
Earl then turns his attention back to the group "Right, so here's the story. I thought there was an easy buck to be made here. Find a missing person, return them, collect the gold. But things haven't added up at all. I haven't been able to find a single one. Those left behind all act weird. Like really weird. Some are pretty closed about it and don't want to say anything. Others don't seem to care less. Then there are the ones that DO return. Yeah, without even being looked for as far as I can tell. I've never seen anything like it. I don't know. Maybe they think I'm behind it all because everywhere I go now there are people following me. There's always someone around." Earl was keen to tell his tale. He then looks to Atlas "So where's the safe place?"

Ok Guys Faith is scared out of her wits, says she is being watched and they saw us there this morning. She asked up to come back tonight to speak with her, but I am not sure we can wait that long.
She might be taken or killed before then. I told her we could protect her. So what are our options and what do you all think?

Armand and Osul make their way to the house of the brothers. Osul's super nose picks up all sorts of scents but nothing particularly interesting.
The house is a decent size. Probably the house of both brothers. It's a two storey. Downstairs has a small stable. Upstairs you'd guess would have the living areas.
There isn't anything out of place. Nothing screams 'bad guys live here'. You can't see any signs of activity to indicate someone - or something - is present

Atlas is pleased with the responses from Earl but nudges for any other info. "That's the thing. There's no 'one' person I see following me. It's everyone in the town. Having said that though, you might want to talk with Tuldil and Ton. They were missing but then weren't. After that I noticed they were around me a lot. Yeah. You should speak with them"
Atlas suggests escorting Earl to the church though Owen has an idea about just teleporting him right out of the place. "Whatever gets me out of this place safely is fine by me"
Neshi arrives to give the party a debrief on the meeting with Faithe. Earl's eyes go wide.
Erik stays quiet. Sometimes listening can be more effective than speaking.
The day is getting on.

Armand wants to determine if... 1 - this is a type of business if so what. 2 - is there anyone else living in the house. 3 - is it actually a stable are there animals in the lower floor 4 - what is the surrounding community...houses, businesses, a mix. 5 - are there magical aura's on the house or magical traps on the doors. 6 - anything else important that I may have forgotten that a kindly DM would let me know.

Osul and Armand scout around the house.
Inside the fenced perimeter there are a number of well used farrier tools. Carriage tracks and hoof prints are found all about, including though that go front the gateway to the stable looking doors on the lower level. Osul can smell the scent of the horses (and their mess) though can't hear any inside.
From Armand's place nearby - let's say propped against a building across the street - he doesn't detect any magic spells in effect.
There are currently no signs of life or of anyone else living within the house. The surrounding area is predominantly houses.

Elyngael and Khan keep up their watch on Faithe's house. There are no visitors coming or going. Noone - including Faithe - can be seen. Highlight to display spoiler: {Please keep those hero points as being unused :) }
Atlas just doesn't like the group being so spread out. An attack now could easily have any one of the smaller groups overwhelmed. He proposes grabbing Elyngael and then regrouping with Armand and Osul.
Neshi has a question about Faithe - take action or keep watch?
Earl looks to Owen as a potential savior who may take him from this place.
Erik - being with the rest of the party - is currently unaware of what Armand and Osul are up to so isn't able to detect anything on whatever house they may be at.

Armand and Osul maintain their cool composure as they stakeout the house. Armand can't see any signs of life within the house or its yard. Well, maybe a bird or two flying overhead or perched atop but they are just your normal things. There doesn't look to be anyone 'suspicious' around. You're not alone though - there are people about - but you don't think anyone is paying you undue attention. A lady with a loaf of bread in a basket walking along with a small child. A man with a broom wiping his brow with a handkerchief. No-one staring or pointing though. They look completely calm and relaxed (and unarmed, unless you count a broom as a weapon).

The rest of the party regroup and compare notes. Elyngael hadn't seen anything out of place at Faithe's house, though the rest of the group still have concerns for her well-being. Erik suggests putting a guard on her house just in case.
Earl seems a little more relaxed with the obvious protection he now has. He's less fidgety and his breathing looks to be normal again.
Noone has approached the party or the alley you stand in. The all seem to be keeping their distance.
Decision time: Split up once more? Rejoin Armand and Osul? Find a way to keep an eye on Faithe? What to do with Earl? So many decisions to make, any one of which could influence the future.

Osul-dog chases a stick into the courtyard area of the house. Nothing comes up as suspicious and nothing tries to attack him. The stick looks like it may be a threat though, so Osul has no choice but to pick it up and bring it back to Armand.
The entire time neither one has seen anyone come or go from the house. Ugh. Stakeouts.
It's around this time that the rest of the party arrive with Earl in tow. He's following closely behind Atlas. There are times Earl is so close that Atlas can feel him brush up against his back.
Owen is invisible and flying overhead. Nothing strikes him as being out of place.
The day is winding up and people are wrapping up their business and walking towards their homes.
The party - minus Owen - stand across the road from the house of the brothers (and would be assassins) Ton and Tuldil.

Armand eyes the strange man and addresses the group. "I'd hate to think the abducted people are being brainwashed and then made to do things they would not normally do. The house appears empty. But I still think it bears a searching. As we have no one to pick any locks, if the doors are locked it may need some bashing." He looks to Atlas.

'Osul-dog (stick in mouth) wanders about knee height through the arrivals, getting the scents of the newer arrivals as he goes. Eventually dropping the dangerous stick back at Armands' feet, and punctuating his relaying of their findings with the occasional "woof" of agreement where he contributed.

When he sees Armand he cheers up, "Good, glad we're back together. Now, we'll want to get back to Faithe as quickly as possible, but why don't we check out this place first. I don't care if anyone sees us breaking and entering. They are dead and we are on a mission from the Colonel. Has anyone checked to see if the door is locked? I can break it open if needed, just let me know."

Owen raises his eyebrows at the group's exchange, then realizes that he's still invisible. He lands and drops his invisibility, then says "I'd rather not break in, frankly. If people think Ton and Tuldil are coming back, they'll likely object to us waltzing in by ourselves. We should find a town guard and use our connection to Hiram Tubalcain to have them 'supervise' our investigation."

Everyone gives updates to everyone else on what has been seen, heard, detected and cast.
Armand suggests a little brute force to get the door opened to this place, and bows to Atlas' muscular form to do so.
Osul-dog stays as a dog (who's a good boy?)
Earl takes a timid step back from Atlas. Everything seems to be in place and Atlas' purse still hangs by his belt. Atlas is also in favor of moving quickly. Faithe may be in trouble and the longer they delay the more trouble she may get into. Neshi is in absolute agreement on this.
Owen - now visible and humanoid - warns of a careful approach, wary of what the neighbors may think if the party try and break in.
Elyngael pulls out the papers that give the party authority to investigate thing. She marches right up to the door and tries to push it open. It is most definitely locked. She doesn't hear anything going on inside. Highlight to display spoiler: {So close to the "We don't need no stinkin' badges!" line :) }.

Armand prepares to deal with any neighbors who might hear the noise and investigate. It's pretty quiet in the street now with the sun setting, so while someone may have heard the fuss it doesn't look like they are coming to investigate.
Osul walks about the perimeter and looks for another way into the building. There is a back door that leads to the kitchen and a few windows. All are shut however. The place was locked down before they left.
Erik takes a good hard look at Earl. The guy is still pretty jumpy and moves back "Wh.. what are you doing?" Owen is there to calm Earl down. Erik does not detect any evil auras on Earl. Fortunately none on Owen either.
The door bursts open under the combined strength of Atlas. And Elyngael. And Neshi. The hinges give way and the door hangs only by the bottom set now. At least it's open though.
Inside the house looks quite clean and tidy. A small shrine dedicated to Gargul shortly inside the entrance: candles, a metal 'eye' symbol, a few flowers. There's a kitchen with all the basics - very basic plates, crockery and cutlery. A door leading to the backyard. A dining area with a bare solid wood dining table. A small living area with a couple of comfortable looking chairs, a bookcase, a few cabinets. The books are mainly fiction - stories about sailors, bandits, soldiers and such. The cabinets are unlocked and don't look to have much of value - a few small metal trinkets. You'd guess hand made by one of the brothers using spare horseshoes. Some stairs that lead to a second level. There isn't a whole lot of decoration or 'pretty' things in the house. Based on the furnishings you'd guess the place had been decorated by two bachelors.

Elyngael is mildly disappointed. It just looks like a basic, fairly decent house. She looks around (perception d20+15=17), but probably doesn't notice anything of interest. "Whatever they are doing, they must be doing it somewhere else. I think we should repair their door and continue our search elsewhere,"

The party take the time to poke around the home of the brothers.
Armand checks over the little shrine. There's no magical aura as such (I don't know, if shrines normally do have an aura then this one does too). Everything there is typical of a devout follower of Gargul.
Osul goes Scooby-Doo and starts sniffing for tracks and traces. The only problem is that this entire place has the scent of the brothers and tracks everywhere. It is their home after all. Osul's gut feel is that they last left together through the front door. He could try and follow that trail if he chooses.
Neshi and Atlas decide to check our the upstairs portion of the house. Neshi casts a Detect Magic spell to aid her search. Upstairs they find separate bedrooms and a washroom. Much like downstairs the bedrooms have little in the way of decoration and are mainly kitted to be functional in nature. Large comfortable beds covered in old - but cared for - sheets. Clean water in the bowl in the washroom and a few soft pieces of cloth. Oh, and a scourge resting next to the bowl. Nothing radiating magic though.
Owen takes a look at the books and is shortly joined by Armand. There's nothing particularly intersting about the books unless you like those kind of stories. They all have signs of age - far past the stage any honest merchant would try and sell them. With the brothers unfortunate demise, would anyone miss these?
Elyngael is a little bummed and doesn't see anything worthwhile here. Her thinking is that it would be best to fix the door and search somewhere else.
Osul puts the door at the same size and weight of a normal door, although perhaps a little thicker.
Erik and Armand keep an eye for anything that might be happening outside.
The searching takes quite a while, and by the end it is now dark out. Noone has interrupted the search.

'Osul scratches at the door, and thinks he can do something about it, but its going to take time... which he suspects he doesn't have time (potentially several multiples of 10 minutes) for that just now. However, he does have, maybe, a trail (47 being good for something). He barks again at the doorway, and starts following his nose outside.
He is confident enough to start off at normal speed, with the comensurate -5 penalty. Survival: 30.

He exists the building and waits for the others. "I'm not sure if we should sneak to her house but maybe the best sneakers of us should make the final approach while the lesser sneakers hang back to survey the house and surrounding area?" Armand makes it sound like a question to solicit advice from the others.

The party decide that now is a hood time to head back to Faithe's house to keep a close watch on her.
Osul's nose leads him out of the house and into the yard. The trail is all over the place - the equipment, the stable door, the ground, and the gate.
Elyngael tries to be a bit nice and leave the door reasonably close to where it used to be. By that, she props it as best she can to cover the entrance.

The party leave the house with Earl in tow and start the walk back to Faithe's house. You pass Rose's house as you go. Everything looks fine you guess. There are no lights within.
In the dim light of the moon ahead though you can see some movement. There's a horse drawn wagon stopped outside the front of Rose's house and facing your direction. You can make out two figures seated in the drivers area and movement behind it. You're about 200ft away from them and it does't look like you have been noticed.
Earl grabs hold of Atlas' bicep and points towards them. He looks alarmed, is shaking, and on the verge of panic.
The streets are very quiet - it is dark after all.

Neshi takes in the situation and Earl's freaking out. Well I think we arrived just in the nick of time.
Can anyone cast silence on the wagon? If so as soon as that is cast I can cast a web which should take care of the two on wagon hopefully and then we move on into the house.

OOC What are the streets like? Are there weeds or grass in the area that would work on an entangle spell to either grow over and lock up the wheel or the horses hooves?
If there is enough vegetation for entangle, Elyngael will cast that centered under the wagon. Then she will move forward 30 feet while readying her bow. Entangle spell is DC 13 reflex save 40 foot diameter.
If the entagle spell would not work she will stealth forward 60 feet while readying her bow. Stealth check d20+15=33.

With few other suggestions Neshi adds his web spell to the entangle totally covering the wagon and hopefully effectively tying down the two individuals.
