Nuntius Auxilium - DM Dank
Monday November 2nd, 2020 8:29:32 AM

The group settles on Twin Moons as a place to have dinner and goes through to make some final preparations before heading out
Eisenhorne provides explicit instruction to his familiar about sending strong emotion and staying out of the way, should anything happen. He also casts Mage Armor on himself.
Toston lets the wizard know he will speak with Nissa about sharing spell knowlegde when he sees her next.

More conversation is flitted about the group on finding a group of would be hero adventurers to take up residence in Shale House. The big question is how to find those types of people
There only temple with a following is Wardd. All other deities, if they have anything, is but a shrine

Gaffer casts Longstrider and takes to the skies, several nearby take notice and he he sees some of those, slip off and he knows that his movement through the skies is being monitored all of the way. Gaffer does not see any tails on group, but many a rooftop sentry has noted Gaffer hawk's flight

The walk is uneventful for the party, evening is a pretty busy as they move through MoonTown and the smell of spice and cooking meat is filling the air as establishments welcome the dinner crowd. Twin Moons is a fairly narrow fronted building with a soaring steeped roof looking to accomodate 3 full floors with a 4th partial floor. The first floor is stone and the rest is dark wood, aged hickory, Gaffer believes. A pair of large lanterns, like full moons, float above the entry door and cast blue and white glow for 40' about. The double doors are open and a dwarf and elf in livery stand at either side to welcome you in. Gaffer lands and the elf sighs with a slight eye roll. The dwarf nods, and gestures the group to simply enter. Inside a host stand station is manned by an exceptionally beautiful woman and an equally handsome man, both human.

The interior is laid out quite long, perhaps 200' and is lit with floating spheres of light. A central area is open with the ceiling extending up all three floors to a crystal chandelier
set with several more floating illuminaries. The Tide is taken to a set of tables on the second floor that are brought together with a large blue tinted lead window as the back drop. A waiter arrives shortly for drink orders, the house choices are steak or swordfish, each comes with a vegetable medley. The choices of bread are a hard crusted Sourdough, which he recommends with the steak, of a softer rye that pairs with the fire kissed sword much better. Twin Moons also offers oranges, lemons and pear, but of course you would not want the pear until after dinner to clear your palette for dessert and brandy.

The group orders and he departs. Leaving you to converse and take in your surroundings, none of which seems out of sorts or puts you on edge.

Sarge orders the steak.

"Didn't know there was anyplace this fancy in town," she says to her companions. "Surprised nobody's busted it up yet."

Eisenhorn casts detect magic he walks into the establishment in an attempt to gauge whether there are any magical defenses up that would prevent teleportation.

Eisenhorn is on edge from the whole development and doesn't partake in any of the food or drink, focusing on his surroundings and his emphatic bond with Shifty ready to jump up and teleport the three closest party members at a moments notice.

Desdichado makes a sour face at sourbread. Feeling anxious and piqued about leaving the fortress, he already doesn't have much of an appetite. "I'm not going to waste a perfectly good steak on a night I don't feel much like eating," he grumbles, "so, fish it is."

In the meantime, he sits back and says "Nice place. Not the kind I'd usually choose." His mind, though, continues to think on why someone wants them out of Tide House.

Hmerrin is completely out of his element. He sits quietly and listens to the options.
Steak. The lad's eyes brighten. He knows steak.

He orders steak and sourdough.

"Clear my palette?" he wonders after the waitstaff has gone. "What's he talking about?"

Gafferr relax's his guard once inside. Since they have come out to the meeting, and for a meal, Gaffer is ready to embrace it. "Sourdough with the steak if I may." To the others he adds, "I know this isn't a proper night out, but maybe we should have one soon? Even when things are tense we could all use some time together to relax?"

"I'll have the steak and sourdough" the gnome says.

Although there is nothing about this place that appears to be concerning Toston keeps an eye out and his new lesser quickened metamagic rod handy.

He says, "I agree we should get out more. You know how we've seemed to have gotten stronger after our siege of what became Tide House, what do you folks think of the combination with a quickened truestrike paired with a power attack or a quickened true strike paired with an enervation ray? I got the keen enchantnment placed on my curveblade finallly by the way."

As you Enter Eisenhorne casts Detect Magic. He quickly notes 4 other patrons casts spells as does 3 of the wait staff. The spells are easy enough to ascertain, 3 Protection from Good spells, 3 Detect Magic, 1 Lesser Globe of Invulnerability. The wizard senses magical auras all over the place. Where ever he turns the 60 cone. Eisenhorne does not believe there are any magics that would prevent teleportation, but it is quite apparent that the casting of a spell y a member of The Tide, has the place a on edge

Some of the group settles in and orders, others cannot find room in their heads to relax. Sarge quips about the niceness of the place and that she did not think such a place existed or how it avoids being sacked

After the waiter departs, the group notices now that several staff are hanging out nearby and are paying attention to you. Shortly an older dwarf arrives at the table, dressed well in a fine cotton shirt, braided beard with silver and steel and well made pants and soft boots. "Excuse me, but if you could refrain from casting additional spells while in Twin Moons. We do not appreciate such intrusions into our operations or that of our patrons." He does not wait for a reply, but simply gives a curt nod and walks off

Food and drinks arrive in a timely manner

Sharpe is up and down and nervously moving about as if he is about to come out of his skin. About halfway through the meal Sarge hears a familiar voice in her head
'Fyrda. Tis your Cousin Haldrick Silvervein, Well your second cousin once removed on your mother's side. First I need to apologize for the earlier message. When I could not divine your well being the other day, I may have panicked a bit and reached out to have someone physically track you down so that I could then send you this message. We need your help. We are in grave danger physically and more importantly, are in danger of failing the Forge and the dwarf line set down by Domi. You must get to Angel Springs in Crescent Valley. There you will be met by my nephews Farin and Stohl at the Pour Me More tavern off West Spring Road by the West Gate. Bring your friends."

The voice ends. Sage can tell through the magic that the voice did indeed belong to her once clanmate and cousin Haldrick. He was in the militia with her for some time and one of the first to recognize her potential and bestow additional responsibilities on.

"Well," Sarge says. "That's one mystery solved."

"I think we can all relax," she tells her friends. "This doesn't seem to be an attack or an ambush. I just got a Sending from a relative of mine. I guess he needed me outside the temple so he could find me and talk to me. Anyway, the clan's in trouble and I gotta go to Angel Springs. I can't make you all come with me, but I'd sure appreciate it."

The cleric of Domi asks for the others to join and all readily agree to help.
She also states that this message, no regular Sending spell as it was far to wordy, is the reason they were asked to eat elsewhere tonight.
Toston hopes Sarge's cousin will have some answers on the Cloak/CMTC logo pin, a question that will have to wait for at least now

The pressure is off, or so it would seem and the party perhaps could relax as much as one should in Dirt City and enjoy a very high quality meal and evening. Beyond that, it would be a matter of getting to Angel Springs and the Pour Me More tavern off West Spring Road by the West Gate.

Sarge already knows Angel Springs is in Crescent Valley.

"Angel Springs is in Crescent Valley," Sarge says. "That's halfling country, so get ready to hit your heads on things. Sorry. He didn't give a specific time frame, but it sounded urgent, so I'd like to get there as quickly as we can."

Eisenhorn considers for a bit and remembers that he has seen a map at some point of the Cresecent Valley and recalls that Angel Springs seemed to be there.

"So how do we get there?" He asks Sarge. "If my memory serves me right it's right near the Red Hills, so about what 250 - 300 miles? I could try teleporting us there just not sure how close I can get us. I would also be able to do 3 at a time, so would need a day to prepare." (OOC: Not sure what the closest pleace Eisenhorn would have reasonably seen near that area would be.)

"Teleport as far as you can, three people at a time? Sounds to me like a good way to get in a lot of trouble. I vote for going by land, or I guess maybe water. We'll need to figure out come morning if anyone actually takes a boat that far."

The lad finishes dinner, and heads back to Tide House to get some sleep.

In the morning, he plans to head to the docks and see if anyone is headed up north.

"Any more info on what we will face, we might not be able to get any extra gear when we get there?"

To Angel Springs - DM Dank
Thursday November 5th, 2020 11:14:18 AM

The group finishes dinner and discusses the routes and ways to get to Crescent Valley. Angel Springs is very good sized town, nearly as large as Dirt City and information on it should be pretty easy to come by, but teleport requires some first hand knowledge. Be it from scrying or having actually been there at least once.

Transport Via Plants only requires to know how far you want to go, and that can be determined with a couple maps and some math. Both of which The Tide can easily accomplish to arrive within 1 mile of Angel Springs.

Hmerrin hits the Docks in the morning and finds a vessel heading to the mouth of the Peaseblossom to head north to Traders Corner and willing to take passengers. Passage exchanged for protection against pirates or attack on the river itself is offered. It's a 4 day journey up river, from there the group would need to get with a barge headed further up to Hovel, the river port of Crescent Valley.

There is no additional information to be had from the message at least or what the group may face upon arrival, but it is a threat that Sarge's clan cannot handle on their own

"The clans live in the Scab--not far from Crescent Valley," Sarge explains to Toston. "Dunno whether Haldrick moved there, or whether it's just a convenient meeting place."

To Sharpe, she replies, "Sorry, no idea. Cousin Haldrick wasn't exactly forthcoming with the information."

She returns with the others to sort her gear and pack. She's not thrilled with the travel options. "So....by boat or by plants," she says. "Ugh. I pick neither. But if we have to, I'd say boat."

To Angel Springs and Penneolpe - DM Dank
Friday November 6th, 2020 9:12:43 AM

Sarge goes through the options and picks what she feels is the best awful mode of no dwarf like transportation. "We go by ship, not stepping through trees."

The rest of the party readily agrees and then Gaffer remembers another option. Wind Walk which would enable Gaffer and 4 others to get to Angel Springs in about 4 hours

The group gets ready quickly as Hmerrin comes back to let them know a ship is setting sail this morning up the Peaseblossom river. Gear is grabbed and the party hustles to the docks to board 'Pennelope'

The readies and the ship is away, slipping down the coast to make the mouth of the river. The skies are fair and the off shore wind allows Pennelope to drive by sail instead of oar. Gaffer notes the next few days should maintain this pattern

To Angel Springs by ship - DM Dank
Monday November 9th, 2020 9:21:46 AM

Watches are set and The Tide settles in on the trip.
Toston's assistance is welcomed on the sails, especially as 'Pennelope' makes the turn into the river eliciting a remark from the Bosun that it was one of the smoothest tacks into the river he has been on.
Eisenhorne finds from a customs standpoint, the sailors don't seem to be different from others. Eisenhorne learns that this run to 'The Corner' and back is a routine. "You can' practically walk to shore master Eisenhorne. Don't tell the Bosun, but most of us don't even consider this sailing. Catch us on our next run to Bonetown or Rum. There's a crossing for you" A few sailors do happily share stories of such voyages, certainly embellished, but quite entertaining. Especially the one about the Ghost Ship. 'Soul Driver'

"....and then came a moonless night, black it was, black as coals in pitch. Sailors clutched their lucky talismans and prayed to all the gods, but it did them no good. From out of that blackest night came Soul Driver! Swift and terrible, she pounced on her prey, and her undead crew showed no mercy....."

The sailor then begins describing some quite gruesome details of what the undead crew of Soul Driver does to the victims it finds.
"...and with that, Soul Driver sailed off into that blackest night. And still, she and her undead crew sail to this very day! Some say she has returned to waters about Bonetown and Rum. So on moonless nights, say a prayer for those poor souls caught at sea--and beware Soul Driver!"

The next couple of days are quite pleasant, both in the weather and in the fact that nothing tries to eat you, kill you, or rob you. 'Pennelope' pushes up the river and puts in at Trader's Corner. It “boasts” a dock, a couple warehouses, a boatwright — maybe a dozen buildings total, and it would be a compliment to actually call half of those ramshackle structures “buildings.” Two of the sturdiest are a general store and a pub.

A pair of shirtless and well defined half orcs assists with the mooring and slide over a gang plank.

The Captain and several others disembark with you, though not for the same reasons. The Tide finds direction to the 'Dock Master' Brock and with a few farewells are off. The Captain heads towards the warehouses with 2 sailors in tow.

The Tide is directed towards a big sign of a mug of ale which leaves no doubt as to the other business Master Brock runs. The pub has two stories, shutters on the lower floor, and windows in the upper story. The place is dim, with light mostly coming through the open door and through shutters. Inside, the party and several sailors find Brock, and his wife, Markie, both half-orcs.

Passage up the Crescent River to Angel Springs with stops at Hovel and Humbles Ford is easy enough. Brock is expecting 'River Rat' later in the evening and expects it will return in the morning. The captain, Master Tuller has taken passengers before. Brock supplies a good hot meal of venison, wild cabbage and a mighty good hard cider for 2 gold a person, with 1 gold piece being the cost for a single mug of his brew. The sailors gladly pay up and hoist mugs 'To the best Cider on the Elennian Peninsula' In the finer taverns of Dirt City it goes for nearly twice this and the further from Traders Corner you get, the more expensive it becomes

The evening is enjoyed and without much to do in a trade post you can throw a rock over, the group hangs out and waits for 'River Rat' who puts in a few hours after dinner. Master Tuller. a halfling, is more than happy to take you to Angel Springs. 5 gold a person gets you passage and it will take 2 days to pull up river.

And so in the morning the group is off on 'River Rat' and a crew of 12 halflings. River Rat is a wide bottomed craft with a pair of sails and 4 oars though it does not appear the oars have been used in some time. The halflings sprawl about the deck, taking out cards, jacks, and portable fruits to munch and seem quite content to let the wind gently bring them home.

2 Days later you arrive in Angel Springs

Sarge [AC 21; HP 70/70] (Kathy)

Sarge is inclined to roll her eyes a bit at the ramshackle buildings (humans! always in such a hurry! never take the time to do things right!), but she keeps her thoughts to herself.

Aboard the River Rat, she asks the crew whether they are familiar with the Pour Me More tavern, or whether they've heard any rumors about it.

Once they arrive in Angel Springs, Desdichado is quite glad to be back on solid ground and makes an effort to walk around for a while and stretch his legs. He'll then follow Sarge, or whoever guides them, to the Pour Me More.

Hmerrin enjoys himself thoroughly.

The tale of the Soul Driver is great, and he does his best to commit it to memory.
The cider is even better, and he heartily joins in the toasting.

On the River Rat, he'll join in a game of cards or three, and sometimes just sits and watches the country pass by.

"It's been a real long time since we've had a chance to just take it easy," he muses. "Going by boat was definitely the right call."

When then arrive, he takes another appreciative look around, and then follows Sarge to see what kind of trouble they're getting into.

Angel Springs and Pour Me More - DM Dank
Tuesday November 10th, 2020 9:05:37 AM

River Rat pulls in at and the crew knows well enough where Pour Me More is on the West Road.

"Straight through the Market and past the Bell Tower. That will put you on Spring Road. Left will be West Spring and right is East Spring. Easy right? Pour Me More is right on the road, can't miss it"

The docks are crowded with activity and Angel Springs is a thriving small city and looks to bring all kinds of the Noble races. Nearly a dozen vessels the size of 'River Rat' and a couple larger ones are being loaded and unloaded with goods. Over the hoots and hollers of loaders and unloaders, you can hear the distinctive ring of a smith hard at work up the road towards the market quarter. the warehouses of the Docks area are pretty large by human standards, let alone a halfling, however it appears that all of the doors are strictly halfling size, if not short even for them. Of course each has an enormous set of doors for loading and unloading, slid back currently.

Heading into the Market, it is bustling, maybe bursting is a better term and though only a few hundred yards across, it takes nearly 20 minutes to make your way through the crowds. The Bell Tower at nearly 200' is not hard to keep an eye on and eventually you exit and find yourself on West Spring Road.

Wagons, with halfling drivers and laden with goods are moving up and down the street, but none turn towards the market or are coming from the market. The street is populated heavily here with non halflings as well, like the market and Spring Road, both East and West, looks to a major service orientated thoroughfare. The buildings here are brightly painted, though a bit narrow of face and vaulted. Certainly built with large folk in mind as is the very wide Spring Road. 2 Wagons can easily pass each other and leave room on either side for pedestrians to still walk side by side. As you travel down West Spring Road, to the north is a large thickly green hill with wisps of smoke seemingly coming from it all over. A second glance and you spy dozens of small chimneys, Halfling Hovels must cover the place

Soon enough you spy a great pair of overflowing mugs on a sign. The Pour Me More Tavern. Entering, the lunch crowd is in and the establishment is doing very well. Most of the clientele, if not all, are non halfling. A fairly large table near the center of the room by the by has a lot of empty chairs and a pair of Dwarfs who are eating and drinking and talking to other tables nearby more than to each other

Stohl and Farin, Pour Me More - DM Dank
Wednesday November 11th, 2020 10:41:26 AM

At the doorway and then shortly inside, the group scopes out the place. Sarge does not recognize anyone, but in the few moments of scanning about, one of the dwarfs at the nearly empty spies her and waves her over. As you arrive, both turn their attention to you, "Sarge and The Tide right?" says a black haired and bearded dwarf as he slides a pint her direction.

Looking to address all of thee group, he gestures about at the chairs, "Have a seat and a drink. I'm Stohl and this is Farin. Uncle Haldrick sends his greetings and thanks"

"And pints" adds the dwarf introduced as Farin as he hoists a tankard with a smile

Stohl chuckles, "Aye and Pints. I trust your journey here was simple enough and not to taxing that after another round or two and lunch we can head out?"

Stohl raises a hand and flags down a waitstaff to get orders and refills

Both dwarfs are dressed for travel in rugged paints waistcoats and mail under. Broad belts hold battle gauntlets tucked in them and a pair of packs are stowed just under the table. A dwarven Waraxe lies atop the table in front of Farin and an Urgrosh sits near center in front of Stohl. Both weapons appear well cared for and well used.

Stohl and Farin, Pour Me More - DM Dank
Thursday November 12th, 2020 10:21:44 AM

Pleasantries are had all around and the dwarf way of doing business seems to agree with most of the party. Farin answers Toston with an affirmative, "Better to have them on the table so they're no banging about"

Stohl chckles into his beard at Eisenhorne's request, "Ears are awfully rounded for an elf, but aye, wine is about as well."

Both dwarfs speak of anything other than the business that brought you here.
"Stone Festival was a tremendous success this year, with clan Deepforge coming in second to Hammerhall in the drinking contest." To this they both hoist a tankard, "To Practice!"

"Clan Ironbane won the axe throw again this year and father is beginning to suspect they are cheating somehow. He says he saw them talking to some halflings. Who everyone knows are not invited and when they show up anyway, they side with the elves." Farin starts to get a bit excited here and Stohl eases him down with a a couple taps on the table and adds, "Father was so drunk at the time I don't think he would have found the ground if he fell on it. So let's not get into that fae tale again."

"Perhaps next year, cousin, you might be able to come? Could probably even bring this lot here with you. Domi knows the gnome would fit right in with the others, expect you'd actually be invited."

As food shows up, Stohl and Farin will speak to what they know of why Sarge and The Tide were asked to come. "You don't talk business over drinks, that's what food is for."

"We don't have all the details, but Farin and I do know the miners got in trouble and everyone has been pulled back from the new passages. Only some of the clan's best warriors are in there now. Farin and I are to escort you into the Scab past the Giant Towers to one of the Port Gates and into The Loade. Trip is 2 days and barring being brutally killed or enslaved by giants, we should be good. You might want to pick up a coat, things get chilly higher up, especially for you southerners."

Past the Giant Towers - DM Dank
Saturday November 14th, 2020 10:23:43 AM

On the advise of Farin and Stohl, most of the group does a bit of shopping to scoop of some cold weather gear.

Farin answers Sarge, "Not much detail, Haldrick was pretty tight lipped, but with the elite warriors geared up and out, I know it's not poisonous gas or green slime or some such. Trees haven't bothered us since we beat the bark off 'em some 200 years ago. No this is something else."

Stohl adds some info on the giant question, "Ah no, there no friendly giants in the Scab and no, it's not attack on sight. More like hide and hope on sight. Giants range from dangerous, like ogres, cave trolls, cave giants and hill giants, to down right deadly magic wielding stone, frost and fire giants Sure there are other dangers, like Wyvern, Harpies and manticore, but its the giants you need to look out for so you can run from that matter."

Going north into the Scab Mountains, the weather is crisp and partly cloudy with a light wind from the north as you past the line of defense for Crescent Valley, The Giant Towers. Gaining elevation, the entire trek seems to be uphill and in fact it is and looks to be that way for the next 2 days entirely. Dusk begins to settle after 4 hours of hiking and Farin and Stohl locate an outcropping with a north facing shelter, forming a very shallow cave to camp in. "Welcome to 5,000 feet." Stohl says with a small grin. "Don't worry, you'll get use to the air pretty soon. Big change from sea level and no fires."
The night promises to be cool and the winter gear was a good call.

The Pass - DM Dank
Monday November 16th, 2020 9:22:42 AM

The hike and the elevation take its toll on Eisenhorne, but the party easily handles the issue through Dez's Lay on Handsgift. The cold is no issue for anyone, either protected by cold weather gear or by Endure Elements spell.
Stohl answers Toston, "Giants. No need to set a flare to let all the predators know where their next meal could come from." He gives a smile and a pat to the gnomes shoulder
"Oh and as a side note, the wizards complaining just reminded me. Don't go casting teleports or dimensional travel spells here in the Scab, You'll end up anywhere except where you're trying to get and you might end up..." he pauses and then spreads his arms slowly outward, "Everywhere"

The night passes and a late sun makes it over the mountains to the east to finally throw some line and warmth upon the land and you. Other than what you must assume to be normal sounds of small animals here and there, nothing happened in the dark.
Gaffer begins the day with a spell to get, the lay of the land, as it were. 10 minutes later he discovers there are 8 humans within range of the spell, no Woodland Creatures and 2 powerful Supernatural beings

Pass Without Trace is the next druid spell which covers everyone including the dwarfs, and the group is off again.

The early part of the hike on the second day does not take place on a permanent incline, but simply along the main mountain ridge you found yourself on yesterday. Shortly after lunch the uphill begins as the group is lead up mountain. Farrin explains the caravans use a much flatter trade route of course, but it's also more dangerous, well known and much longer. "We'll be at the gates by sundown."

The dwarf's words regarding teleportation magic quickly catch Eisenhorn's attention however and he almost forgets about the grueling climb from before.

"Increased randomness in teleportation? Is this just for the mountain or in the general area? Does it only happen if you teleport in or if you teleport out? Is it only above a certain altitude? How did you notice this in the first place? Has anyone researched the phenomenon and why it is occuring? Does it also affect short range teleportation or only long range? Is there a specific cut-off range? How long has this been going on? Do you know if the effects are centered on a specific point and fade out or if they are uniform throughout the area?" he continues pestering the dwarves endlessly with questions regarding the mountain and its unsual effects on teleportation and diligently notes the answers as best he can given the strain of continuing the climb.

Eisenhorne lets loose on Stohl with far more questions of detail than the dwarf care to hear, let alone answer. He holds up a hand, which does no good and as the questions run out he shrugs. "Do I look like a book bound sage to you? Teleporation in the Scab is dangerous. The Scab is the mountains we are in right now. You've been properly warned. That's all I got to say on the matter."

On the Pass, Toston spots the giants and most importantly seems to have done so before they spotted you. He can also make out a blue tint to thier skin, probably Frost Giants.

She casts Bless on the party.

(OOC: With regards to the Roc's movement if the DM will allow some math.
Roc is 50ft high and 7 Squares diagonally from GT1. Times 1.5 for diagonal movement that's 11 squares or 55ft. It has 15ft. Reach so needs to dive down 35ft to reach the giant for an attack. Using the arcane knowledge passed down by famed wizard Pythagoras that gets us sqrt(55^2 + 35^2) = 65ft. of movement to get to the giant and attack. Using "Flyby Attack" it can attack and continue moving with its remaining 15ft of movement. It would move 5ft West and 10ft up, ending it's movement in T67: W70 at an altitude of 45ft. It could travel a bit further if calculating it using the theorem, but I don’t want to complicate this more. If it succeeds on the attack & grab it will try to carry the giant with it if able to do so.

If only 15 year-old me could see me now using all of that Trigonometry knowledge to solve real world problems.)

Having overshot Giant4, the Roc pivots to Giant1 Swooping in and attacking the giant with its claws and trying to grab it and fly away. End movement at T67:W70, altitude 45ft.

Hmerrin moves up and fires, striking a gaint with an arrow

Dez downs a potion of Enlarge Person

Toston uses the last charge on the metamagic rod to cast Grease on himself, then flies to AL90 at least being on par with eye height for the giants (10 feet off ground?)
He fires off a scorching ray spell which creates 2 seperate rays hitting the giant twice

Sharpe sends 5 arrows in 4 shots, hitting with the first two shots

Eisenhorne watches as the Roc tilts left and dives at the giant. The frost ginat ducks under the talons causing the great bird to miss.
As Eisenhorn finishes his second summoning spell a woman with angle-like wings and a golden snake’s tail instead of legs appears. Eisenhorn instructs the
Azata in Celestial to Inspire Courage and it does so
All PC's +2 Morale Bonus vs Charm & Fear; +2 Competence Bonus on Attack Rolls and Damage

Eisenhorn then casts Haste Extended (Duration 26rnds) on his allies including the Azata.
No two creatures can be more than 30' apart and most of the party is.

Sarge casts Spiritual Weapon, and sends a glowing hammer at Giant #4, striking it

The giant nearest Toston glowers at the gnome and pulls a potion from a pouch at his waist and drinks it. The giant begins to shimmer and flicker
Displacement - Total Concealment All Attacks 50% to miss

The ogres move forward a little and all fire at the great bird. Each fires 3 large shafts. The hail of arrows looks devastating, but the celestial bird is still aloft

The other giant (Gt1) nearby appears to drink a potion as well

Hoping perhpas to kill the roc, one of the giants hurls a rock at it. He misses

The furthest giant runs down the pass to close the distance

Toston moves and castsEnervation, the ray strikes the Ogre

"I'm staying on Toston's left," Hmerrin informs Sarge and Dez as he moves closer

Eisenhorn moves up 30ft, pulls out a ball from his bag of tricks and throws it 20ft North to summon a Wolf. Survaying the scene the grey wolf turns looks back at Eisenhorn with a pleading
expression. Eisenhorn looks at the scared animal "Oh come on now you can do it... Bite their ankles or something."
The Azata flies 100ft towards Toston, but the gnome has pushed forward and the creature cannot touch him with the spell

Sarge pushes forward some more and redirects her Spiritual Weapon to Ogre 4.

Desdichado makes a double move. "I am not fast," he sighs.

Sharpe begins to relax as the giants start to drop but re-focuses, "it's not over yet". He lets loose, Killing his first target with two strikes.
Switching target he hits with 2 of the last 3 shots.

Another frost giant dies from the withering fire of Sharpe, leaving a single Frost Giant severly wounded. WIth a scream of rage, he turns and traies to flee. The ogres break rank as well

Farrin and Stohl step out from behind the tree and start shouting insults at the fleeing giants.

Treasures gathered, some conversations exchanged the group sets off again. "Aye master Desdichado, we'll be in by nightfall.

The party comes through the pass and turns slightly westward and runs to come alongside a river that splits the mountains here. The river is more like a very fast moving stream, perhaps 20’ wide but extremely fast and the water has a turquoise tint.

Farrin remarks "That water comes from a glacier high up on one of the 5 sisters. Heavy with magic, extremely cold and not to be trifled with."

You follow the stream for a few miles and then break back north and once again begin climbing upwards, again. "I promise you", says Stohl with a grin that is not to be entirely trusted, "This is the last climb.

Coming over a rise of the slope Stohl points out another party of giants. Moving across a mountain side to the east. 4, maybe 5 of them, looking no bigger than ants. “Fire Giants.” He comments as he points them out. Stohl picks up a rock and hurls it from the mountain and shouts vulgarities at them. Farin chuckles.

The Fire Giants do not appear to notice, care or possibly both. The small group is perhaps 5-6 miles by wings and nearly 20 by foot.
