Sharp gets a drink at one of the multiple bars about each floor of the arena and makes a lap on the 3rd floor promanade. Conversations he overhears are typical for a sports arena, trash talk amongst friends, callers of wares and refreshments.

Eisenhorne is also on the 3rd floor and feels he should move along before one of the passersby gets overly curious at what he might be doing.

Those at Shale House have recovered spells and are working out how to get the bodies from there to Warrd's temple about 25 minutes of walking through streets and possibly 2 Market areas away.

Gaffer takes off from his perch and searches for either Eisenhorn or Sharpe, he drifts over them long enough to be seen before swooping in the direction of Shale House.
If they seem like they are sticking around for longer, he will perch nearby again and keep an eye on tbem.

"I vote for Wardd. I got a cart from the lumberyard down the way when we set that pavilion up for the House meeting. Me 'n Toston should be able to grab that and be back in a jiff."

The fighter will head out with Toston to retrieve the cart, and then they can load it up with wrapped bodies.

"So I got diddly, not really earning my keep here. Seems a pretty standard sort of place. You find anything? I'm happy to try bluffing our way through this one, you remember old yellow pants and his chubby daughter we could try the same thing here?

Or it looks like our new mates might want to regroup. Is there more you think we could find?

Summary of the upper levels of the Arena.
There are a total of 5 floors. The first 3 are generally open to the floor of the arena below. Some seats, of course, have better sight lines than others. The fourth floor looks to have 12 suites, each with a balcony capable of holding a dozen spectators. There is approximately 30' between balconies. Access to the 4th floor is through one of 4 doors, each with a guard checking tickets/passes. You currently do not know how to access the 5th floor and there are no balconies on it. Mirrored glass of unknown thickness and strength, allow viewing of the arena from the 5th floor.

Going with, its not overly heroic or even sanitary to dump corpses in the city to rot, Hmerrin, Des and Toston get a cart, tarps and load the bodies to go to Warrd's temple. Early afternoon is not overly busy heading out of South Pack and cutting north down the main thoroughfare past The Burn. As you turn South east and toward Garottte Square and then into Full Moon Market, it is easy to see the area of Blade City is a buzz with activity. Groups of 6 Blade House crew are standing at every corner leading towards the Tower of Knives. They are look to be heavily armed and alert. The crews each give the three members of The Tide a glancing once over, but no more than that. It is unlikely you have anything to do with what is going on.
Up ahead, the 2 markets are quite crowded with shoppers. Normally it is busy, today it is crowded.

Sarge tags along on the corpse delivery mission. "Hopefully they won't ask too many questions," she says.

In the market, she glances over toward Blade City and sees the Knives on alert. "Something's going on," she tells her companions. "The Knives are jumpy. Keep an eye out."

Gaffer takes a perch and waits patiently to see if Sharpe and Eisenhorn are done, or if they want to investigate further, not in a hurry to return. Upon finding Sharpe, Eisenhorn briefs him on What he's found and uses a piece of parchment to try and draw a crude map of the 3/4th floor area he was able to observe through the eye. "... so I didn't manage to get much but at least it's a start, let's see what our wild friend was able to gather."

"We cannot be the first group of people to dump some dead bodies on Warrd in this town. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a line."

Passing the Knives' guards, the young lad nods in agreement.
"Yeah, they ain't happy. Wonder why."

Noting the crowds ahead, he can only sigh.
"Never easy in this town, that's for sure."

He keeps moving on.

The group pull the cart past Blade City, noting the apprehension of the Knives and make their way through the Markets. Crowded and tight, but uneventful and the party arrives as Warrd's temple. Here the biggest surprise of the day meets you. The place has House Knife men everywhere. Heavily armed and obviously standing security watch. None hassle the group or question the cart and Hmerrin is pretty spot on in that Warrd has acolytes handling this type of thing far too often. A pair arrive and ask very vaguely about the cart contents, "A proper burial will be conducted. Anything we should know?"

Gaffer, Sharpe and Eisenhorne meet up and discuss. Walking the 3rd floor past a couple 4th floor entrances and they know the guard is checking tickets/passes to the 4th. Apparently by invitation only is access granted. Gaffer does not see anyone he knows.

By late afternoon, Everyone is back at Shale House. It is now almost 16 hours since the attack

The group is back at Shale House and with some information or rather explanation on the unusual activity. Seems the gods of Testing disbanded and as Warrd, the majority patron of those living in Dirt City. Well it is causing a fuss. Are the treasures and powers of the clerics of the Warrd temple vulnerable? Rumor mill is rampent and the Warrd temple is not taking chances and their precautions have spilled over to some of the Houses.

Back at Shale House the topic of access to the 4th floor is broached and the Tide do not know the higher circles of wealth of Dirt City. The Tide know who they are, just not in the way where you would stroll up to them and ask them for a pass.

Sharpe hints at having an idea....

Which for us means pretty much everyone in this town is going to be hyper vigilant.

Which is really bad for sneaking up on golems or whatever."

The Group is all at Shale House. There was never an option for Gaffer to attempt to swipe a ticket of pass from anyone as you never actually saw more than 2 people on the fourth and didn't witness anyone going from floor 3 to 4. The map of floor 1, 2 and 3 are very complete. Floor 4 is partial as the spell simply did not allow that much time. With only 4 access points to the 4th floor, it is logical that access to the 5th is specific as well and Eisenhorn only saw a very small part of floor 4

The party discusses a distraction to access the upper levels. Perhaps the business with Warrd and Serenbeth could somehow be used, but how? What to do?

Sharpe looks a little shaken on hearing the news about Waard, he starts uttering a prayer and stops himself.

“Well this can only be bad news, we need to learn more about what happened. As for Ralsiner, if they could detect invisibility on the 4th floor they would have seen they eye, so maybe our best bet it to sneak up invisible and just deal with the top floor as it comes?"

"Invisibility.... yes might work, but I'd be able to do 10min per person at most so we would need to know exactly where to go and I could not locate the entrance to the 5th floor." Eisenhorn lazily scratches Shifty's ear as he considers options.
"Perhaps a diversion, but what? If we just create a run of the mill ruckus I would think Ralsiner would fortify his defenses not come running toward trouble... what about an illusion. I might be able to conjure some images of heavily armed House of Knives members, then we just present ourselves at the door and state that we have been ordered by the Prince to search the arena. The ruse wouldn't work long but could get us through the front door."

Hmerrin rubs his head. "All this thinking...head hurts."

He looks up.

"All right, let's recap.
The bad guys are on the fifth floor suites. We got a password to get past the magical bar on the stairs to fifth floor, but there is also a golem or something guarding those stairs.

The fourth floor is a bunch of suites looking out over the Arena, and there weren't all that many people there on your recon.

We don't know where the stairs to the fifth floor, although we know where they aren't.

I'm thinking we go over there later this evening and hit them.
The Arena should be dead, so the fourth floor even more empty.
Distraction isn't gonna do anything to this golem, so we just hit him.
We go up to the fourth floor, find the stairs, hit the golem, go invisible, and then head up and takes our chances.
Anyone sees us on the fourth floor and bother asking, 'hey we're just doing security on one of the suites'."

"But, just to be clear - we are essentially breaking and entering if we do this. (Not that's stopped us before, like with the WLA.) But this one could be very public if things go south. Is there no chance we could get some help from someone inside the Arena, or even a House we're on moderately good terms with?"

The party discusses a few options. Going invisible and moving past the 4th floor guard group. Illusion of a Knife House group running security. A diversion, though it might cause the target to bunker in and prepare.
Hmerrin puts forth a more direct approach. The Arena is not really used at night, move quick get to the 4th floor, find the 5th, take out golem and go. It is possible that the guard wont even be about after hours

Several put in a vote of confidence on making a night run. If the party goes with that option, you have about 4 hour of prep time. One thing to keep in mind is night patrols in a city a bit set on edge with a shake p of the very heavens. The Arena on a good night is 30 minutes away

"Night raid it is then. Give me a couple of hours I need to prepare spells to get us out if we get in over our heads." Eisenhorn searches Shale House for rope and then finds a quiet place on the second floor to clear his mind and prepare for what is to come.

"No matter how far we walk violence always seems to be just around the corner.. eh Shifty?" Eisenhorn laments quietly, as he opens his Blessed Book and traces out the spell incantations with his fingers commiting to memory every minute detail.

Having no prep himself, Hmerrin takes a two hour power nap.

A discussion occurs and soon the group reaches a decision and that is to head out in the night and get into the arena. Eisenhorne needs some time and specifically, he needs 8 hours to re work the spells he has already prepared.

It is about 2 hours before sunrise and the group leaves Shale House. There is a tension in the air, the gods of testing have moved to be on there own. The rules have changed and the mortal Wold feels the impact even though they do not know it. The group does not take the main thorough fare, but the smaller streets are used.. The group skirts Moon Market to the south, but a man stands in the middle of the market that cannot be ignored. He calls out to the night sky, "Caeroldra! You shall be avenged. A river of blood and souls we shall create to bring you back." At this point he sees you and snarls. A flick of his hand sends a fireball bead into a nearby building and nearly at the same time vanishes. Eisenhorne and Toston both recognize the quickened Fireball and the silent Teleport. Powerful players are certainly in play and looking to strike back at what is going on

The group arrives without incident at the Arena, though the journey was not without tension. Knives. Wolves and Teeth all had groups at the borders of their territories, but the keen eyes of Sharpe and Gaffer picked up on a couple of single rooftop explorers. Could they be part of House Cloak? It would fit, but the bottom line is the group was certainly seen, but no one bothered to intervene and now you are at the Arena

Sarge is going over details, as much for herself as for her companions. "There's a password to unlock the stairway," she says, "but Three Bits told us what it was. I have it here somewhere. Anyway, next up is the golem. Three Bits said it could recognize people who had suites on the upper levels. She said a disguise might fool it. So, do we know what any of these people might look like? And if so, do we have a way of altering somebody's appearance?"

"Burning hells, with all these wiredos about tonight we might just get away with this. I guess we will have to take this one step at a time, i'll scout ahead"

Sharpe wraps his cloak around himself and adopts a casual but purposeful gait as he moves toward the move toward the entrance, unless someone stops him. He makes a point of looking up whilst keeping he head down, on the approach to the arena checking for any watchers. Slipping inside he drops into a crouch and keeping to the shadows he scouts the path to the first set of stairs.

As he listens to Sarge's overview of the plan, he asks to everyone, "Are we trying to sneak past the golem, or just bash our way through it?"

" I can change myslef to appear as a different humanoid creature, but I doubt that would do us much good." Eisenhorn says to Sarge somewhat distractedly. Taking a moment to look around and consider he adds " However, I believe you are on the right track Madame Deepforge! Fooling the construct might just work. I might be able to project an ilusion of an empty room infront of it just right so that we can sneak past it or if we know how these residents look like I could conjur up an illusion of one of them and try to make the construct think that we are guests of one of the residents." Eisenhorn tries to remember if constructs would usually have any senses other than sight and sound. (Knowledge Arcana Roll: 20 + 26 = 46 )

"Agreed," he replies to Sharpe. "Everyone causing or expecting trouble may actually help."

Sarge and Eisenhorne start talking disguises again, and the lad sighs.
"Unless you got a sure fire way to make all eight of us look like people the golem knows, which we don't, we might wanna move on from that."

"I'm good with trying E's empty room trick, but best be ready to bash."

The fighter lets Sharpe get a lead, and then starts after him, eyes flicking around the darkness.

Sharpe pulls his cloak about him and moves into the arena. The lower areas are relatively open and access is easy. A quick conversation on tricking the golem with an illusion goes about and the group follows in behind Sharpe.

The party is able to make good time through the first few floors and soon enough are on the 3rd floor and within sight of one of the passages to the 4th floor. The entrance has what appears to be a good wooden door that is shut. You have seen and heard no one any where in the Arena

Eisenhorne. I did not know about the ring. You could have reworked any uncast spells, but you cannot regain any expended slots, such as the Wizard Eye spell slot

He stops himself before touching it.
The lad stares at the door handle for several seconds.

Several spells of Protection are cast as the group arrives at the door. Gaffer will Warp it as plan b and Hmerrin enacts plan a. The brave lad reaches out and finds the door not trapped, but it is locked. Gaffer obliges and the door cracks into an unusable twist, the party has entrance

A short flight of steps and the group emerges onto the 4th floor. Unlike the previous floors, this one has everburning torch light in decorative sconces spaced evenly on what would be the outer wall, away from the arena side. You see no one about and hear nothing as well. Sharpe takes the lead and moves out down the slightly curved hall. The floor is marbled tile, 8' wide with a 6' wide brown carpet. The walls have a mosiac pattern of tile and the ceiling arches from 10' at the walls to 15' in the center and is light beige paint.

Sharpe moves along, unchallenged for nearly 180'. Ahead he spies a large figure standing with it's back to the interior wall. Detail is hard to come by from here. it makes no movement of recognition to your presence. The guard stands at nearly 9 and half feet tall and Sharpe feels its build is slim

Eisenhorn takes a moment to take in the details of the room as he slowly takes out an ornate rod (Lesser Rod of Metamagic Silent) from his quiver. He then focuses his eyes on the creature, concentrating intently. Silently he makes several hand geastures to craft an ilusory box around the creature that would present the creature with the view of the empty room on all 4 sides. He tries to make sure that the walls of the box are out of reach of the creature. (Cast: Silent Image).

The group pauses and Eisenhorne casts his spell, Silent Image to create an illusion before the guardian construct to the 5th floor. The party is battle ready, with Sharpe and Hmerrin at the fore. Having edged a bit closer the tall and gaunt guardian's body parts do not seem to be natural, but assembled together. The arms hang far too low for its structure to just below the knees instead of mid thigh. It wears leather studded with steel razor bits and spikes across the torso and legs. Thick boots and heavily gauntlets upon the feet and hands with a crystal a fixed across the eyes..

Upon completion of the spell, the guardian makes no move. Hmerrin and Sharpe stand 60' away, the rest of the party 10' behind them. The floor is marbled tile, 8' wide with a 6' wide brown carpet. The walls have a mosiac pattern of tile and the ceiling arches from 10' at the walls to 15' in the center and is light beige paint.

The balconies of the 4th floor are only accessible through the 4th level suite. The party has past 2 such suites/ The gilded iron bound doors have both been locked. If anyone is within either day suite, you do not know, but it is unlikely.

DM Feels clarification is warranted.
The golem is against the left wall, the interior wall. Behind it, in the interior wall is the door to the 5th floor.
Hmerrin, Dez and Gaffer headed down the hall and past the golem and door on their left. if they stop and turn around. the golem and the door to the 5th floor is on their right hand side.

It appears you can freely walk the hall of the 4th floor without being challenged.

No one has tried to squeeze past the golem and open the door he is guarding

Eisenhorne takes a minute to study the creature and deduces that it is Flesh Golem.
Naturally damage resistant to all but the most potent of magical weapons or those made of adamantine.
Possessing both dark vision and low light vision
Immune to magic
A construct and thus, does not breathe, sleep, eat, tire, is immune to any mind effecting spell, such as illusions and phantasms.
Electrical attacks repair it
What the crystal across the eyes is, Eisenhorne is not precisely sure. The LoreMaster speaks the password
Gaffer moves to get a look at what would lie beyond the door, should it be opened. The druid must stand within the golem's reach to do so.
Hmerrin stands directly next to the golem waiting and mouthing a small prayer to Warrd on Eisenhorne's issuance of the password.

The door does not open.
Hmerrin braces himself and starts to step past. He does not get far.

The creature does not even look, but strikes with a great fist down at the fighter. The blow sails high and slams into the wall. .
Toston attacks and strikes the golem, creating an unbleeding gash in the torso.
The golem swings a great left fist at Toston, but the gnome slips past the blow.
The second strike is much closer, but it too misses

The golem is against an indention in the wall. There are 4 melee slots available to fight it. Hmerrin is on the golem's right. Dez and Gaffer are directly in front of it. Toston is to the left for melee.

From the stature of the golem, you can deduce that the creature has a 10' reach.

Bow already raised, Sharpe lightly backs up to find an angle that will avoid his companions (Precise Shot) and releases the 2 arrows already strung to his bow (Many Shot - Attack Total 19, Damage if hit 33), he swiftly draws his next arrow waits for an arm to pass out of the way and fires again (Rapid Shot - Attack Total 37 CRITICAL HIT, Roll to confirm critical 22, Damage - 29 if critical hit is not confirmed, 74 if critical hit is confirmed). He draws one more arrow to his check and wait for an opening and fires. (Attack Total 15, Damage if hit 25).

He takes a couple steps back from the golem, ruffles through his component pouch taking out what looks like a small stick. He waves the stick around and utters the proper mnemonics casting the spell on everyone in the party. (Cast: Haste; Duration: 10 Rounds; Effects: One Extra Attack; +1 to Attack Rolls; +1 Dodge Bonus to AC and Reflex Saves; +30ft Movement)

[in Auran]: "Shifty please try to help that burly young man not get smashed into a paste." Shifty will try to move behind Desdichado and touch him, casting Blur on him. (Sp: Blur; Duration: 10min; Effects: Concealment 20% Miss Chance)

"Oh...and please don't try to electrocute it. It will likely just invigorate it!"

Eisenhornes steps back and casts Haste upon the party. He sends shifty into the fray to deliver a spell to Des (How can shifty cast a spell?) The golem strikes the familiar as it closes

With Gaffer stepping back, Sarge can step in and attacks with her axe and puts 2 more gashes into the thing

The golem does not seem to care about the woulnds it has received, it does not call out or flinch in pain. Unnerving for those who have not fought such things before
It strikes at it's first target again, catching Hmerrin in the shoulder

From the stature of the golem, you can deduce that the creature has a 10' reach.

Most of Sarge's combat experience comes against giants, who are definitely not stoic, so the construct's lack of reaction is a tad unnerving. But she gathers her courage and keeps her hammer going.

OOC: DM, per the info I found online air mephits have blur as a spell like ability http://pathfinder.d20srd.org/bestiary/mephit.html#air-mephit I assumed that it would be able to cast it on others like the normal spell.

Shifty yelps as the golem hits him (Concentration Check Roll: 18 + 10 - 1 = 27) and Eisenhorn feels a mix of anger, fear and annoyance through the empathic link. "Hah! Serves you right for pranking me the other night!" Eisenhorn exclaims.

Eisenhorn pulls out a bit of gum from his component pouch mutters a few words and sticks it to his thigh, vanishing as he does so. (Cast: Invisibility; Duration 10min.) "It seems like you have this well in hand so I will just stay out of your way." He says and then moves a bit back and to the side trying to obscure his position. (Stealth Roll: 12 + 48 = 60)

The air above the Golem gathers together into a whirlwind in human shape under Gaffer's conjuring, two armlike shapes lift up and slam down on the Golem.

Gaffer keeps his positioning out of the way and checks their surroundings, paying attention to any sounds from the otherwise of the door as well, (Perception: 36) in case their fight should gain any attention.

"You could at least say 'ow'", he tells the construct, somewhat weakly.
Playful battle banter seems totally lost on the thing.

The fighter decides to try power over precision, and starts swinging madly, and not well.

"Bad idea." he murmurs to himself. "Bad, bad, bad. Just hit the guy."

Toston notes with the golem back in an indentation in the wall, like an alcove, there is no place to flank him. The gnome attacks, but fails to harm the construct
Sharpe fires again and puts an arrow through the golems neck.
Sarge bears down on her will of this fight and strikes again, tearing a large gash across the things chest.
Shifty casts Blur on Dez
Eisenhorne casts invisibility on himself. Seeing the fight seemingly well in hand
Gaffer's Air elemental appears above Hmeerin and attacks, but misses. There is not enough space directly above the golem
Gaffer himself, keeps guard for the fight to attract others. Thus far, this skirmish has not drawn more attention
Hmerrin stifles his banter a distraction to himself and his team only against a mindless construct. Only a single strike lands from his axes.

But the single hand axe is enough and the creature collapses

"Maybe also check for a key". The words come out unnaturally fast, like Sharpe has consumed his body weight in coffee. His eyes dart around quickly coming to a rest for a mere split second. It looks like he is tracking a fly, more astute members of the part would notice he his checking door for traps, locks etc.

He then jitters around collecting unbroken arrows.

Eisenhorn claps excitedly. "Ah... very nicely barbarianed!! My comendations to all of you. And Master Hmerrin, that cleave... let's just say that if you ever get tired of adventuring any butcher would be lucky to have you. Now let's see about this door." Eisenhorn casts detect magic and examines the door for any spells or inscriptions that he could decipher. (Knowledge Arcana Roll: 6 + 26 = 32; Perception Roll: 20 + 10 = 30)

He then takes a little key from his component pouch and makes a motion as if putting the key into an imaginary keyhole and unlocking it. "Open Sesame!" he exclaims. (Cast: Open/Close targeting the bejeweled door).

And, if that doesn't work, he grabs the doorknob and tries to open it.

Toston searches for anything valuable and believes the crystal over the creatures eyes to such a thing. Detect magic reveals it to be magical.
There is no key on the creature, or anything else you feel inclined to touch.
Sarge channels a burst of positive energy, healing all 17
Eisenhorne begins looking to cast a spell to open the door, which radiated a strong magical aura of conjuration, but Hmerrin stops him and speaks the pass word.

The door opens outward, phasing as it does so to pass through the golem and anyone else in front of it. The passage behind is a full hand span narrower on both sides and in height. Stairs are immediately behind it, going up. Passing through the archway and onto the stair, Sharpe notices a thin grey line about 3 inches in along the wall the ceiling and floor.
Eisenhorne believes the line to be lead. It would appear the entirety of the 5th floor is lead lined

At the top of the stairs, the passage moves to the right. Immediately left is swinging door that leads to a catering staging area. The hall is dimly lit with soft blue glowing glass balls recessed into the ceiling. The floor is exotic wood tile and the walls freshly painted. The amount of money needed to create 5' of this hall is possibly more than all of Shale House's construction

Sharpe checks the corners of the catering area, before moving on. He whispers to Eisenhorn, ”Any reason you can think of that would mean this guy would need a lead lined apartment? Would it block any magic or sound maybe?”
To Toston “I am pretty broke, but if his hallway is like this I can only imagine what we will find inside”
