(OOC:Really sorry for not posting yesterday everyone. My computer kept disconnecting when I tried logging into chat last night. I will try and make up for the post.)

With the combined attacks of everyone the last two large men fall dead and you find yourselves now in the entrance hall as victors. Drifter looks around and then slowly flexes his metallic looking wings which slowly glimmer and vanish. He smiles faintly now as he bows and is still standing perfectly fine, "It is certainly nice to be walking on both legs again, the whole crutch thing was very much a pain in the butt."

Drifter also now grins and points to Darkbeast's body which lays on the ground, quite dead, "Now gentleman and ladies, I believe if you search Darkbeast's body you will find two things atleast of importance at this very moment."

Drifter now spins his rapier and sheathes it before walking slowly to the door, "An finally I bid thee all farewell, my mission here is done but I will stress that there is a dark secret here that you all may wish to find...it will give you background into this place...secrets about Darkbeast and reveal some about my people even." Drifter glances over his should and pulls out a set of coins and flips each person a single coin. The coin looks ancient and has the stamp of Lakothian, "Beware using it or selling it...some people find my people a risk and some will try ripping you off on how much it's worth."

Now that the battle is over and you can look over the room easier you see tapestires hanging on the wall that look nice and show various hunting and such scenes. The large benches in the room are mainly in good shape but two of them are damaged from being tipped over ot a dead person having fell through it. At the front of the room is the nice throne which Darkbeast was sitting in and behind it and to the right is a single small door whe map.

Tyal slips the morningstar back upon his belt and pulls out a wand from a pouch on his pants. He taps himself with it and then looks around to the others. "Fern...if you would please." He indicates the wand so that she knows he is going to give her healing.

He then looks to Drifter as he is about to leave. He takes the coin and then calls out to the others in the group, knowing his duty. "Anyone else in need of healing?"

Fern accepts the coin from drifter then moves over to Tyal to get healed. "Thank you Tyal, that feels much better." She'll then go and search the guys she downed and later their boss.

ooc: tyal, fern was down 20 hp so eliminate the last roll and add it back to charges left in the wand. It wouldnt have been used if not needed.

The Paladin listens carefuly to every word the Stranger is saying. When the stranger flips a coin his way, he tell the Stranger "Thank you I'll keep this coin as long as I live, so I'll always have you with me." Henri will put the anciant coin inside his boot.
Henri look up and the stranger is gone, he whisper "i'm going to miss him!".

If anyone approaches the 'strange bear' with a healing, Hart will refuse by shaking his massive furry head, If he is attacked, he WILL retaliate in kind.
But it is likely no one realizes its Hart, unless they saw him change in the hall or they put together the obvious clues.

Having jumped out of Hart's hood, Spirit wanders over to the remaining black bear and begins laughing.

As the last opponent falls Marek is already in motion to get his main weapon back in his hands. The war hammer is stowed on the way. Drifter seems to suddenly have an aweful lot to say, pretty annoying to let them twist in the wind like that when it is quite obvious he could have saved a lot of blood and pain. Marek shakes his head a bit, self imposed rules and such of cosmic beings. Bah and be bothered with.

Marek's ears prick up at the mention of useful items on Darkbeast and he immediately goes about searching the body in painful detail. [Take 20 Search 21]

To the coin offer Marek gives his thanks and stores that bit of knowledge about these legendary beings from the past in the deep back corner of his mind.

Mykell cetches the coin when tossed and pockets it when Drifter tosses each person a coin and watches the man go before glancing around the room, "Well, looks like a nice meeting hall here or throne room. I think this would be a great place to sit up our meeting room."

Mykell also thinks over what Drifter said and frowns abit, "I wonder if he meant there is something hidden some place in this keep to give us more answers."

After Drifter leaves and everyone is cured people go about searching the dead bodies and come up with a few things of note.

1.) 12,000gps from all bodies.
2.) 8 greatswords (one takes the shape of a shortsword as Fern touches it.)
3.)Darkbeast's slightly larger then normal greatsword.
3.)a small cube
4.)5 crystal clear gems
5.)6 potions total (three were smaller vials and on Darkbeast. They are marked simply with a wolf's paw print.)

The paladin advances to the cube, before picking it up, He will take his gloves off and touch it, with one finger.(Detect Evil as a spell)
He speaks to his sword, "I wonder if this Cube is evil? I wish, my right arm friebd, You could tell me?" (and be very suprised if it answers)

If he fell it is not Evil, then Henri will pick the cube and examen it.

If he feels that the cube is EVIL, Then he pull his finger away and tell the othere's that the Cube IS Evil.

Marek Looks to Kashmari and her brother with the vials. "Can either of you confirm these?" If they can't Marek drinks one, "Bottoms up then." If they can he awaits the outcome of thier study.

"OK looks like a magical short sword, also looks like it transforms to a weapon you can use. Lets try and confirm that shall we?" Marek will pick up the now short sword to see if it shifts yet again.

"All right, we should leave the gold for now, we still have to sweep this place before the engineers can get to work. Lotta rooms we ain't been in yet. Tyal if you have a moment I could use some healing prayers."

Mykell looks over the treasure found and shrugs while waiting, wanting everything checked atleast as much as possible before doing anything.

Henri checks the cube and feels no evil radiating from it.

When Hart in his bear form touches the sword nothing happens. However when Marek picks it up it suddenly goes through another shift to resemble a nice longsword.

Tyal moves over and heals Marek of some of his damage.

Namfoodle concentrates and uses a couple spells, finding out that one potion is a cure serious wounds potion, fly, keen edge and the last is a cure lycanthropy potion.

So far there is no movement outside of the room of any type and you hear nothing really going on. Drifter vanished rather suddenly after leaving the room.

(OOC:Moving on the game and asking a very serious question that I need EVERYONE in the game to reply to please so look at the end of the post.)

The group begins to move on, waiting long enough now for alittle extra healing and Mykell and Marek to drink the cure for their werewolf problem.

The small door just behind the thron actually has a small door knob and opens easily enough and clearly is not locked. Inside the small room which is more like a small closet is a pair of keys hanging on the wall and lining the walls off to each side in small pockets are a combination of skulls and severed heads. These look to be Darkbeast's battel trophies of previous battles.

Okay everyone, to the serious and non post part of my DM post here. I been expressed concern too about the course of the game and players finding it abit lacking I'll just say. Right here I would like to ask everyone to let me know what you think about me cutting this mission short and moving on to something the group might enjoy more.

Right here and now I would like to say that you our the players of the game. Like most of the normal Wold games I would like you to take a active part in the game, enjoy it and where the storyline and play is heading so speak up now everyone. Do you want to end this current module quicker? What are you looking for in the game? What would you like to do? What can I do to make the game better? I want this game to run for awhile longer, hopefully quite awhile longer and I personally think you all are good players and you should know what your looking for in a game so speak up and let me know how I can help out. I'll say now that I think it is my fauly we lost the player of Eiras and I feel right now that it is my posting or something that has made Dom bow out for alittle while or longer (not meant to offend in anyway, this is just my feelings), I want to keep the game going and keep my players happy so help me out here everyone, what can I do to make the game funner for you?

I also like to take this moment to say that the next module I will be giving my ADM a copy so on days I don't post Jay will beable to throw in a post to keep the game moving daily or this is our plan. I also plan to throw in more rp chances, more puzzles and such. Anyway, thank you for listening to me ramble and to Eunice and Dom I hope my comment wasn't taken as a offense since I didn't mean it that way, I just at the moment feel like I let Dom down as a DM if he left because I lost his interest in the game.

I like this game, of course I like all your games even if I sometimes bug you about posting, why else would I keep joining them how many games of your's have i been in about 20?. When we started this game the concept was to find a way to stop the dark lands from encroaching and maybe to get rid of them entirely. While getting a fort has been fun, recently we haven't really done much (or so it seems) to stop the dark lands. I would like to eradicate the werewolves so that the dwarves can start fixing the castle (and maybe add a few more rooms, i mean 4 rooms for 8 or 9 people fern's not sharing with a guy and her and kashmari might end up killing eachother) and then either go back to the dark kingdom or try and find the lakothian's to learn more. I do quickly want to get fern's giant eagle that her mentor has been training for her. You do need to post regularly to ALL of your games. If not everyday then every other day or even three times a week, maybe you could make yourself a schedule post daily to this and that game, every other day to other games, and once or twice a week to things like the giggling ghost. And please try and get more players for artifact legends as its almost dead or Poppy will move into the mith tap, like I said before you finally let me have a winged halfling and as she has 27 dex I dont want to give her up :) Maybe you should get an assistant dm for your other games as well, but not me as I dont want to know what's going to happen in the game.

Again, you're a great dm and I love all your games you just need to post more often.

My Dear DM Justin Your Mods are always intresting, they were enjoy able and I alway learned some new about role playing.

In this Mod, Sir Henri would like t6o lern more about his special (and Intelergent) Sword you gave him. So far it has not said "Boo" to him but he greatly love his sword. He is also looking forward to dispel Evil and a lurking ghost or two.

So far I appaud your choice of Adm Jay. Eunice in her chosen field of Nursing, is comming into some pretty tough Classes, and she will be missing some post because of it. As for Dom, Well he is like a small boy with a new toy, he plays for a while then drops it, going on to something else. Not a bad player or DM, don't miss understand me. BUT it does have an effect on others in the game, I myself got mix up as to wjere or what we were doing or where we were.

So far, my Paladin is looking forward to his new home base (the Fort), you see he he alway on the trail, doing good for the King and his people. That is until he join this party.

I am enjoying the tap, dont' cut things short it takes away from the building sense of accomplishment. My only mild frustration comes from at best there are 3 posts a week.

marek is an adventurer. pure and simple...like high altitude mountain climbing it is the thrill and adrenaline rush of combat, death traps and powerful foes that he craves to encounter. treause fame and all that are secondary perks but not the reason for putting himself on the line.

Justin, you know my views, so there is no real point to repeating them...

But to add to Loretta's points, the darkness IS the reason Hart is in the group at all. He swore an oath to a wood spirit, his Spirit friend, that he would help bring the light back to his home.

I will continue to play in hopes the game gets to the initial goal.

As a player and ADM of the Mith, I really want to plead with folks to "Please, please, post on a regular basis!"
I realize that RL often deals a blow and you have to settle it, but I'm sure you folks saw how slow the posting got when folks stopped posting. That can KILL the game entirely.

As it stands, we currently have seven players that will remain in the game. An eighth may be recruited.

I like the game, and I am glad to be back, I had some troubles in real life but that is all worked out for now. As for Namfoodle he is part of this group, and will stand by his friends no matter what, but he like Hart is here to fight the spreading darkness. He is let's face it something of an egomaniac. He will fight the good fight, but more importantly he wants the fame that goes along with being an adventurer, and the fame he would garner from being a part of the group that saved the world is right up his alley.

Turning Marek moves to a table and spreads out the map. "Ok we're hear and I'm thinking we should sweep this floor and then return to the first level. Barracks then Treasurey to the Smithy and so on. Thoughts? Opinions? Unfriendly comments just to hear your own voice?"

(OOC:Sorry for not posting yesterday. A storm rolled in just as I was logging into the wold. Jay, I have no copy of the module you guys are on currently since my computer was fried. I planned to wing what was left of this module and then send you a copy of the new module I make. Also, Ryan who played the ogre plans to come back in the near to distant future depending on how soon he gets things taken care of. I can announce for another 8th player if you don't mind Ryan possibly coming back and making the game 9 if we keep everyone till then and get a new player anyway.)

Before moving on Kashmari and her brother Aelanthir turns to the group and Kashmari speaks up after concentrating for a few moments, "Friends, it has been alot of fun traveling with all of you but me and my brother are being called else where. We must bid you all farewell and wish you all the best of luck." With this said, Aelanthir and Kashmari leave the room and make their way to the exit of the fort. (OOC:Everyone, Kashmari and Aelanthir has left the game so I wanted to let you know that it's official.)

The group talks of doing a sweep of the upper floor and then moving to the lower floor and it sounds like each person has pretty much agreed with this idea.

(Daniel, since it sounds like your leading the group then please state what room your heading to by the name on the map anyway and such. My computer loads maps to slow at the moment for me to look at the map. I also will be cutting the module short everyone to move on to the new one. I hope all of you can deal with that.)

As your leaving the room something does cetch your eyes. A small square that fits perfectly into the floor between the two knight statues has a Lakothian symbel etched into it and from the looks made by a rapier. Maybe a marking left by Drifter for you or something.

Marek is about to leave when the mark catches his eye. Perhaps a secret cache of some sort. Marek calls everyone's attention to it. "Ideas on opening or lifting that puppy out of there? We got any rogue types left?" Marek takes 20 on a Search check (total Search 22)

After the investigation of the square Marek will be leading the group to teh Barracks, then the Treasury and then the Smithery, as marked on the map.

"I have a debt to repay." He looks around as the spot is indicated and smiles. "How about tossing something into that spot first...maybe it will trigger something before we can set it off?"

As an after thought he calls out again to the group as they stand. "Any healing needed?"

Mykell follows everyone around the tile and looks it over while letting the others look it over more. he is saddened to see Kashmari go since she and he was getting pretty close and he hopes to himself it wasn't something her did.

The cube begins to be looked over by various people and then finally passed to Namfoodle who looks over his notes and such before coming to the conclussion that it looks to be alot like a cube of force or one of such cubes anyway.

Looking over the tile there appears to be no traps present. After searching the tile carefully more a small button or something is triggered and the tile lifts slightly and slides away, revealing a ladder leading down into a small swirling portal. From the looks this might be something Drifter was talking about by his comment on secrets from Lakothian in this fort.

The satyr looks like he's seen better days. Exhausted from the shapeshifting (his first time), he sits and digs through his pack for a potion. Tyal makes his way over to Hart with a wand in hand. He does not give the satyr a chance to say yes or no as he applies the wand to the man's shoulder. Healing floods the satyr, making him at least feel a little bit better.

He mutters under his breath about the wand in his hand and shakes it. He then applies it again to Hart with a slight smile. "Part payment for earlier." He could have sworn that the wand was even more useless that time around.

(OOC:Okay Jay, I was asking because if Ryan who plays the ogre returns which may not be for months or so then he would make 9 if I got a new player now. However as commented on before. We would not go above 9 in that case. I'm not letting this game grow any to much larger then a normal game. Marek pushes to move on which is probably mostly excepted by the group. The interesting thing happening at the moment is Fern who tries fishing in the portal swirling at the bottom of the ladder.

Fern feels nothing of interest really happen to the line but when she finally pulls it up she finds a single piece of paper hooked on the hook. It doesn't look like it was put there either as much as just a lucky cetch. Besides the addition of the paper nothing looks wrong or anything with the rope or hook.

No movement can be heard yet from anywhere yet. Now the question is, continue clearing or explore the swirling portal. Decisions decisions.

Tyal stands near the door that will lead to the armory or the door to the hallway. He looks to the others but takes no lead. He knows that he must be careful as his skills maybe needed in a support capacity and to get right into the thick of things could get someone killed.

He does look to Fern and shake his head. He waits to hear what the paper has to say though he finds little fault in looking over the rest of the fort first. "I say portal last as well."

(OOC:Sorry for the lateness of this posts everyone.)

Fern looks over the paper and reads it out loud. It seems to be some type of diary page or maybe a loose diary page anyway, "Late Spring has finally came and it looks like my experimenting has gone well. Lab is setup and artificial demon has been produced with amazing stregnth and vitality in it even un melded. Now only to find a subject for experimenting on..."

Moving on the the baracks you meet nothing on the way. The place looks to of calmed down and if you pass by any doors that hadn't been opened before then some of them are opened now and no one is inside.

When you reach the baracks the door is closed and from the slight wiggle of the handle you find out the door is not locked. (Spots and listens will pick up nothing at this time.)

When you open the door you see the room is filled with bunkbeds that are all empty. A small footlocker sits beside each bed and in one corner is a small desk with a leather bound book on it with a strap locking it shut. It looks to be some type of diary.

Listening to Fern read the note, "I think we all know who this guy got to run the experiment on. Rats chasing cats! That means Darkbeast is duplicatable and I'm pretty sure we don't want that. Let's get this for cleared," Looking at Fern "and get that stray dog, eh dear."

Finding the barraks unlocked, Marek opens the door via hard kick and moves quickly in for a fight. There of course is none. "Good eye Henri, snag it." Marek takes a walk down the line of beds and flips open each footlocker, stooping to give a quick rummage through. "Mykell take the other side."

Apparently posted at the same time as namfoodle there. Marek will let Nam do his thing, greatly appreciative there is someone who can find traps besides his foot or hands

Tyal stands back and lets the others search for traps and such and once more adds his voice to the ix as he decides to check once more, "Anyone in need of alittle more healing."

Mykell takes the other side of the room as he was asked when the room is checked for possible traps. He also taking a couple moments on each foot locker to check it's contents.

Namfoodle finds now traps on the doors or anything thus far and the rooms is completely clear of all enemies for sure as beds are checked to make sure.

The foot lockers hold nothing of real interest. Some person belongings, some clothes and such. A couple does have some random coins in it )a total of 50gp and 20 silver found in all).

The diary is grabbed by Sir Henri also and otherwise is just a normal diary from the looks with a leather strap binding it shut.

(OOC:Sorry Ceil, I also misunderstood your post for Henri and thought you grabbed the diary previously also.) Henri now grabs the diary and finds it is quite normal and nothing happens to him. The desk however is a normal sit at study like desk, no drawers or anything.

Marek decides to check the trasury next and makes his way to this room now.

At the door to the treasury there is a large turning like wheel on the wall and a set of numbers ranging to 6. There is not other markings on this except a small arrow on the wheel to evidently show which number your selecting when the wheel is turned.

"Ummmm yeah." Is Marek's reply to the gnome. Namfoodle then bursts into laughter and the adventure seeker knows he's just been had and had good. A smile slips on his face which becomes a pretty big grin as he catches the faces of his various companions. "Ok, Ok. Namfoodle the Extraordinary." then after a small pause and quieter, but still obviously meant to be heard, "Smart ass."

Looking at the dial Marek gives the door a tap or two as if unconvinced of its solidity. "Well sir, looks like we get to sit back and be dazzled and amazed at Namfoodles lock abilities."

Henri looks through the diary he found and finds that it talks about how the thieves were gathered here by Darkbeast. It explains how they went into the woods and robbed and such people on occassions and was lead by Darkbeast since the beginning of the fort being taken by them. It also talks about a priest like character in the fort some place called the Butcher that it seems all or most theives were afraid.

Marek has a good joke pulled on him by Namfoodle and other wise taps and checks the vault door to find it looks to be very sturdy.

Everyone looks to be waiting for Namfoodle to try his luck at the door.

Marek agrees on the talk and thoughts on 'The Butcher' We should definately try and find him, though my guess places him on the other side of vortex."

Marek is not paying much attention to Namfoodle but to the two directions he feels enemies could approach the group. With that thought in mind, "Henri, Tyal let us take up position at the next corner, better eye and ear towards the stairs that way. Fern, Chief and Mykell can keep this end secure."

The group finds out from the diary alittle more about the butcher and somepoele are wondering where he/she maybe located in the place but that is quickly put the the side as a couple split to watch the hallways and Namfoodle checks out the combination lock.

Namfoodle is pretty sure after his search that there is no traps that he can find and that just leaves the combination dial.

Henri closes the book, putting it back on the desk, tell Marek "I think that is an excellent idea. I don't think there any more traps, but suprises from behind, makes more sence! I will do that right now!"

The paladin takes up his sword, head for the other end of the hall way, "Are you comming. Tyal?"

Tyal nods to Marek and then moves off to take up his position with Henri. He smiles as Henri calls to him and he nods. "Be right there." His morningstar is held loosely in his right hand while his shield is still in his left. "This Butcher should pose a challenge when we find him...don't you think." He engages Henri in conversation as he moves...once in position though he will keep silent.

Mykell listens to the various bits of conversation made and shrugs as he looks around, "The Butcher will be just another test of our skill, how hard though is a good question though."

(OOC:I will be making a post later this morning in hopes Namfoodle will get a post in by then. I believe he is the only one with a shake of a chance of opening the vault. I didn't get no comments and haven't been able to get into my mail yet to see, so I hope someone might of had that ability chart and sent it to me.)

People split up and watch the hallways where any enemies could come from and a couple hang back with Namfoodle who is looking for traps and going to take care of the combination lock.

Namfoodle stares at the combination lock though, not moving as if dumb struck by the lock for the moment.

Down both hallways being watched there is no movement though and so far you get the feeling the place must be some what empty.

(OOC: Sorry things were real hectic in my other game here and I got too caught up with it. Things are at a more normal level of anxiety.)

Namfoodle holds the lock in his hands and thinks to himself,"Something to play with, it's been a long time since I got to take something apart." With a very childlike giggle he heads to a corner and sits ther ewith his back towards the rest of the group.(open lock 10 seeing as how this is a combination lock am I able to take multiple attempts?)

Marek maintains his vigilance, too many men have died from boredom. It seems the enemy always knows how long to wait for those on guard to become idle. He will shout back down the Hall though, "Namfoodle! We are on a kinda timetable here. Don't suppose you're gonna somehow speed things up?"

(OOC:I'm not sure if someone sent me that ability stuff but please resend it to me if you will. If you can then please send it to Drew Gerken also for me since he may be joining us shortly. Also label it as ability Chart on the email.)

(Namfoodle, the combination lock is located on the vault and is like one of the big wheel combination locks thats on a vault.) Namfoodle plays with the lock but is unable to get it to open at the moment. From the looks though it is a masterwork lock.

The group is getting abit grumbly about no action showing up but something does start to get your attention.

Rumbling through the halls is a loud rumbling of heavy foot steps coming from down stairs and a deep set of dwarven voice sing as they go, "Crack those skulls, break those legs, thats what grandfather Hammer says....forests are no fun so here we are to crack those skulls, break those legs."

If they are she calls out "Hi guys, we're trying to get in a room right now could you help?.....um, have you seen any werewolves lately?"

Namfoodle looks at the lock after his initial attempt, he decides to check it for traps(Search 18 and makes another attempt at opening the lock Open Lock 24 best I can do right there.)

Tyal shakes his head and mutters under his breathe. "I think that is some dwarves we left behind." He covers a laugh and then shakes his head again. "Did they not break into song once or twice coming here with that same song?" Tyal does not let his guard down though as they approach...it might not be the same dwarves after all.

Henri needs to read Fern's posts better.

1. Fern did not call out unless the dwarves where from the group that they left outside the castle.

2. FERN IS A 5'10" HUMAN WOMAN!!!! She's NOT little!

3. If you want me to play a halfling dont worry Justin hasn't posted to Artifact Legends since July 16 and I will be leveling Poppy up to an equlivent level for this game and bring her here. I'm sure you will love to see me play a flying halfling with +8 dex (probably +9 after level up) and I will love playing 2 characters.

Mykell looks around and continues to wait while he holds his katana, he feels alittle out of place as there is really nothing going on.

Fern runs to the stairs and looks down to see a troop of 20 dwarves march into that room, all suited up and ready for battle. Some of their weapons even look like they have seen some already and the from dwarf with a graying beard salutes her with a grin, "Hey there lassie. We stomped some good ones down here and found a smithing dwarf which is interesting. Nothing else on the first floor to worry about and me men are checking out the rooms to get ideas for the place." <Fern knows these dwarves to be the ones you traveled here with.)

Namfoodle strikes pay dirt when suddenly after playing with the lock for awhile he hears a few clanks and the vault very heavy vault door swings open to reveal....

Inside the vault is a very large room with a ceiling over 12 ft high. Covering the floor is alot of gold and a large chest sits half open with gems sparkling inside. Also there are a few weapons and some works of arts, carpets, etc of many different types and sizes. From the look you have found the loot the thieves and such have been hoarding for some time. (Okay everyone, listen up before getting really excited here. Most of this treasure is going to set up the fort for your use and some improvements. I will give you the full number come the end of the module which is close.)

Tyal makes his way over to Hart and lays a hand on the satyr. "I have to agree...I will be happy to get out and see the sky once more." He does glance to the Satyr with another smile. "There was a large open park...I guess that is what you would call it back outside." His eyes light up but you have the sense that he is liking the idea. "It looked a little wild but we maybe able to pretty it up...it would be nice to have soft ground under me at nights once in awhile." This part cleric seems to be ready to leave and get outside as soon as possible, but will not abandon the rest for his own needs.

Marek notes the dwarves and returns a salute, "Nice of you to drop in on the party. Vault is cracked, soon as we inventory it we will be heading out."

Marek moves back to the vault, "Nice work on the lock. OK I say we go through take a quick inventory, see if there is anything ghighly useful. Monetary stuff stays of course. I say we then catch a bit of food and rest, prepare spells and all that and then I'll take lead into that portal thingy."

"Problems issues general musings on any of that?"
