DM Mark - Maritime Law
Tuesday May 11th, 2021 9:09:17 PM

Rolth quotes imaginary maritime law to inform the pirates that they may not go, and will be put to death unless they can offer extenuating circumstances regarding why the attacked The Pounding Fury.
Kiwina asks his friends if the dead captain is wearing a strange amulet.
Falco examines the dead captain’s body, looking for magic. He finds a magic potion, a magic chain shirt, a magic buckler strapped to his arm, a magic rapier, a magic belt, a magic ring, a magic cloak, a sap, a dagger, and some thieves tools.
Mak moves to the helm of the ship to guide it, but the ship is not moving as it bobs alongside The Rose.
Elyas suggest that he remain aboard The Pounding Fury to protect the Petals there.
Tzak

Rolth gets a number of answers to his question, all at once.

“Extra circus stances? I was at a circus once. They kinda stood like this.”
“Nah, ya idiot. They stand like this at a circus!”

The two run through some odd poses, looking at the heroes for a reaction.

“The attack? Oooo, that was all the cap’n’s idea. He was a bad one that cap’n.”
“Yeah, we tole him not to attack.”
“Yeah. ‘Let em go’ we said.”
“We told him not to kill centaurs. Centaurs is the good guys we said!”
“Us too. We’re good guys. The Cap’n was the bad one.”

They look hopefully at Kiwina as they say this.

”Ugh. We are soooo glad you rescued us from that guy.”
“Yeah, I wuz a farmer a’fore he kidnapped me and brought me here.”
“Me too. I was a kidnapped farmer too.”
“Yeah, don’t kill us. Kill the cap’n.”

The two in the rigging remain quiet and still, and try to hide in the sail canvas.

As Mak walks away, the fat cook says, “Hey. I gave ya that cleaver. Where’s my money? We had a deal. An’ I have a deal with you too, centaur.”

The pirates seem to give the water elemental a wide berth through all of this.

Rolth looks suspiciously at the ones claiming to be farmers, and tries to figure out whether that is just a load of horse manure. He suggests to Captain Kiwina and the rest of the Petals that we take all of their weapons, search the ship for information and treasure, and then move to render assistance to the Pounding Fury.

Kiwina agrees with Rolth that the Petals should confiscate weapons and assist The Pounding Fury as soon as they can. Until the pirates admit defeat, he is not in favor of searching -- too risky. "If the captain was the bad one, you needn't worry. But you do need to cooperate. Does anyone here have a problem with following any orders that we give?"

Mak stayed at the helm and looked up the two men in the rigging and motioned that they should continue what they were doing. In the meantime he held the ship on course as it bobbed in the water as he knew that even a mild current could cause the boat to come about or angle into the Rose if left unattended.

To the cook Mak said. "You'll get your gold when the captain and Rolth are done with you." Mak said as he sheathed his sword and deposited the cleaver into his pack.

Rolth suggests a plan to Kiwina. He tries to see if the farmers are who they say they are. For Rolth: Highlight to display spoiler: {Rolth doesn’t know if they’re farmers or not, but he senses that they two are desperate to save their skins and will probably say anything.}
Kiwina calls for cooperation from the pirates, and asks if they mind taking orders.
Mak stays at the helm, motions to the two in the rigging, and tells the cook he’ll get his money “when the captain and Rolth are done with him.”
Falco watches, ready to get to The Pounding Fury.
Tzak also stays aboard The Rose, also ready to get to the other ship.
Elyas asks about pirates about The Pounding Fury.

In response to Kiwina’s question about taking orders, about a third of them remain sullen and quiet. The rest however seem eager to help out, asserting they should be able to get their ship in able to sail in about an hour.

Mak looks around the deck of the ship and at the burned rigging. He thinks about an hour is right. The cook is not happy about being put off my Mak on the gold, but does not argue.

Sense Motive DC 12: Highlight to display spoiler: {They’re eager to help alright. Maybe a little too eager for a group that just lost their ship.}

There’s a lot of talk, but what do the heroes plan to do?

Kiwina realizes that a majority of the pirates are up to something. What he says is, "I think it does this crew credit to see that the cook here wants to be paid right away. Shows he isn't worried about someone else stealing his money. Mak, what do you think? Should I have the money sent over from our ship now, rather than waiting to put him ashore with it?"

The Petals need to move on the helping The Pounding Fury. "Well, then. The first order is to put any weapons you're carrying in a pile on the deck, there." Kiwina points somewhere in the middle of the deck. "And then move to the aft of the ship once your weapons are in the pile."

Friday May 14th, 2021 12:50:31 AM

Kiwina asks Rolth about the cook’s payment. Then he instructs the pirates to put their weapons in a pile on the deck. He watches the pirates carefully.
Tzak suggests tying some up to ensure the cooperation of the others, and that the Petals should make haste to the centaur ship.
Rolth directs the pirates to do as pile their weapons on the deck as Kiwina suggests.
Falco worries about the cooperation of the pirates.
Mak draws his bow and instructs the pirates to do as Rolth says.

The pirates seem a bit relieved as the summoning spell finally expires and the water elemental disappears.

They comply with the directive to give up their weapons, piling them on the deck as instructed. Several look nervously at Mak, staring them down from behind a drawn bow. Kiwina can see that not all are happy about this, but all seem to comply. Kiwina does note a few that try to hide weapons, but when he calls them out they fearfully drop the hidden weapons and the rest become very compliant.

The cook pulls out a big knife as he walks over to Rolth. He says quietly, ”I cook with this, and I have a number of sharp things down in the kitchen. Takin’ swords was smart, but you know knives are tools too. An there are plenty of things that can serve as improvised weapons aboard. Establishing order and letting them know who’s in charge will go far with this lot. They’re used to a hard hand.”

What now? Do you tie some up? Keel haul them? Make em walk the plank? Do you get them to sail their ship, or do the Petals try to do it? Profession Sailor DC 12 will tell you you need more than just the Petals to get underway. Ramsey and his crew can handle The Rose.

"We could lock them up in the hold and sail the ship ourselves. Maybe keep a handful of the more cooperative ones to help us up top. Those that decide to be helpful might get 10 gold from my personal treasure once we get safely to port or ride in the hold. Seeing that some are sheep and some are goats, he focuses on separating the surly goats from the compliant sheep, and herds the goats into the hold. He figures Captain Kiwina can handle the others just fine. Tzak informs Ramsey he will need to take charge of The Rose as the Petals will be needed on the other ship. He wonders aloud if there are any boarding planks to use on the other ship.
Falco asks aloud the cook's name, as he suggests the Petals take charge of the other ship.
Mak suggest locking some of the pirates up to quell any trouble on the voyage. He draws an arrow on a pirate as he says, "You! Decide. Swim, die, or work? It's your choice, make it now!"
Rolth looks around the hold for loot or cargo. He spies some crates and chests, and some stowed and labeled ship's gear and food stuffs. There is also an unorganized pile of ship’s goods and other things that seems to have been recently piled here.
Kiwina approaches the fat cook, asking for his cooperation.
Elyas wants to move the pile of weapons from the pirate ship back to The Rose, but there’s the matter of about a 15 foot gap between the ships. He finds that it’s probably easiest to lob the 30 or so weapons one at time across. The crew on The Rose stay out of where the weapons are landing.

In response to Mak’s directive, the pirate freezes in place and says, "Ok, ok, I choose work." A few nearby see this and a couple more hidden weapons are thrown down in a pile as they say, "Uh, we choose work too." A couple of pirates are tossing any dead pirates (burnt, killed by arrows, etc.) into the water. They go through the dead pirates' pockets as they do so.

Ramsey reacts to Tsak's request, and quickly gets the crew of The Rose moving and the Rose ready to sail. Once Elyas has the weapons across, Ramsey gives him a thumbs up and gets them collected.

As Tsak calls over for a boarding plank, one of the pirates in the rigging quickly runs along the spar, grabs a line and swings down onto the deck of The Razor's Edge. He calls to another pirate and the two extend a long plank across to Tsak. DC 12 Acrobatics for Tsak to cross. If Tsak looks nervous, the pirate will smirk and toss him a rope for safety, reducing the DC to 10.

The cook replies to Kiwina. "They call me Cookie here. Hmmm. Who can we trust? They’re a scurvy lot. I tell you what, you give me 20 gp a head and I'll find us 10 men we should be able to trust. Let me pay them and offer them freedom and I'll get us what we need. You'll find plenty o' gold in the cap'n'1s quarters if'n yer worried about the funds."

He'll pitch in with sailing over to the Pounding Fury, all wall keeping an eye out for trouble from the pirates.

Rolth shares his suspicions about the cargo in the hold, even as he directs some of the pirates to say in there.
Tzak tries to cross to the other ship and falls in. Some of the pirates laugh, but one of the pirates dives in with a rope and makes sure the Tsak is able to climb back aboard. Clearly this pirate us sucking up, but hey - at least he’s sucking up. By contrast, Esmereda trots across the plank. It almost looks like she smirked at Tsak as the sodden ranger climbed back up.
The DM is reminded that Elyas can still fly, so he had conveyed the weapons over to The Rose. He ventures down into the ship looking for the captain’s quarters near the stern.
Falco rejects the cook's offer to take charge of a small group of pirates, and looks to get the pirate ship moving.
Mak directs the pirates getting the ship ready to sail, and suggest the cook be comfortably held aboard The Rose. There was a fair amount of rigging damaged in the fires, so it will be about an hour before the pirate ship is ready to sail. It could be put in tow to The Rose, though that would be slow going.
Kiwina makes sure Tsak is safely back on board. He looks to follow Elyas, but finds the passage ways very cramped for a centaur.

Cookie seems a bit put off to have his offer rejected, but quickly recovers and thanks Mak and Falco for their thoughtfulness. He seems a bit surly still as he carefully walks across a plank hanging onto a rope as he goes. As he does so he calls out to the Petals, ”I’ll be interested to see what you folk eat aboard your fancy ship. Don’t for get to feed the men over there. They get purty cranky purty quick if you don't keep their bellies full.”

As Elyas heads to what he thinks is the captain's quarters, he interrupts a couple of pirates kneeling before the captain’s door trying to pick the lock. They quickly stand, dropping their picks and tools. ”Oh, er, hi. We was….we was jes makin sure everythin's in order. An it seems like it is. Yep. We’ll jes go now. They rush past Elyas but are quickly stopped by a large centaur blocking the way. What do Elayas and Kiwina do with these two?

Also, what do you do above decks? Do you send The Rose ahead without the Petals, or do you send both boats over at a slower pace? Or do you wait an hour until the pirate ship is ready to sail on her own? You can see the other ship in the distance. It looks to not have any sails up, but it seems to be afloat.

(Let me know what you do, and I’ll administrate the rest in the next post rather than dragging you through any more details.)

Mak continued to watch the pirates on deck to make sure they were working as directed. He had them hoist the jib and using the helm started the ship forward towards the floating pirate victims.

OOC: A ship can be sailed only using the jib, but it's slow going. I think that's better than being towed and it should be easy for the Rose to keep pace. The jib is a triangular sail attached to the bow and I don't believe it was burned. BTW, this works only if the wind is blowing mostly in the direction we are heading. You can't sail upwind with the jib. Also, if the wind is above 14 knots it's not wise to do so.

Kiwina summons a stormburst on the nearer of the men (touch attack vs AC 18 for 3 points nonlethal damage and buffeting by wind and rain) -- it won't do real damage, but it will hopefully get across the idea that Kiwina is annoyed. After that he tells the men to answer Elyas'es questions, then go.

Kiwina is annoyed at the delays before they can reach The Pounding Fury, but figures it's best to secure the Razor's Edge as much as they can first. That means making sure there are no more pirates hiding here -- all on the deck or in the hold -- until the Petals have some idea what is down here that they might steal or use. While Elyas checks the captain's quarters, Kiwina looks around a bit in these cramped human spaces without straying far from Elyas. Once they're done -- including detecting for magic in the cabin, and if necessary getting someone more maneuverable to look around the men's quarters -- he'll join the rest of the Petals preparing to move the ships.

Rolth and Falco suggest using The Rose to tow The Razor’s Edge so the ships stay together and make their way to The Pounding Fury.
Mak tries to direct the pirates to get the sails in order enough to get the ship moving. However, this being the second, and by far the worst, fight this ship has been in and it’s damaged. (Good job on the sailing knowledge and skill, but it will take about an hour to get The Razor’s Edge ready to sail.)

The Petals will find that ropes and even the anchor chains of both ships could be used to tether the ships together rather than waiting to effect repairs on the pirate ship. As they set some of the pirates to the task, along with the crew of the The Rose, the two ships are soon moving toward The Pounding Fury. In about an hour, you will reach The Pounding Fury.

As you approach the centaur ship, you can see that it is listing a bit in the water. The sails and rigging are damaged. You do not see anyone on the deck - the ship is silent. What do you do?
-----------------------------------------------
Below decks, Elyas and Kiwina encounter a couple of pirates, hitting them with a spell and demanding answers.

The two pirates look at each other and begin blaming the other one, each asserting “it was his idea.” The two waste no time following Kiwina’s order to go. The door to the captains quarters is locked, but you find some keys on the captain’s body that work here. You find a large, ill-kept cabin. There there are a number of bags and chests here.

You will find 10,000 GP of goods in the captain’s quarters, mostly in gold, silver and gems. In the hold there are 5,000 gp of goods in the hold of the ship, mostly pilfered gold and silver objects, carved statuary, wine, and some very fine food stuffs. Detect magic reveals no magic items beyond those that were on the captain’s body.

As they approach the Fury Tsak realises that their force will need to be split again. Once they reach their goal he sets about herding the crew to one quarter of the deck where a couple of Petals can keep an eye on them while the rest go over the the listing Pounding Fury.

Mak at the helm directed the pirates on deck as he and Tsak made certain they were on task. This went on for nearly an hour after he realized the wind direction and damage to the ship we enough that the ship needed some repairs before they could get it moving.

So when the ship came close to the Pounding Fury and he didn't see anyone one it, he addressed one of the pirates about something he had suspected early on. "Was the centaur ship without crew when you boarded her?"

When Kiwina gets back on deck and up to speed, he agrees with Mak's question and waits to see what the pirates answer -- although their attack on the Rose is enough to confirm their characters, it would explain a lot if they found The Pounding Fury and were stripping her.

If they say they found her abandoned, Kiwina follows up with questions about what they found aboard -- particularly whether there were bodies or anything that attacked them when they boarded.

Rolth makes sure that our booty is secure aboard the Rose as we make the journey to the Pounding Fury. He recalls seeing some prisoners being taken shortly before the Razor's Edge came about to confront us, so he expects to find some of the crew hiding below. He is prepared to leap aboard after announcing our presence in Tauric. "Ahoy the Pounding Fury! We are the Eight Petaled Rose, sent by Pelonius to render aid to the Chief Stallion and his companions. We have defeated the pirates and wish to come aboard!"

DM Mark - Maybe it should be called The Pounded Fury
Thursday May 20th, 2021 12:09:30 AM

Tzak keeps an eye on these pirates as The Rose tows The Razor’s Edge, and takes extra measures as the two ships approach The Pounding Fury.
Mak steers the pirate ship as it’s towed. He also directs the pirates on repairs as the two ships proceed. He asks the pirates if The Pounding Fury had a crew.
Kiwina also has questions about the crew of The Pounding Fury.
Elyas says he’s ready with spells to quell any threat, and suggests that Falco be ready with healing spells.
Rolth makes sure the loot and booty aboard the pirate ship is secure. He calls out to The Pounding Fury, "Ahoy the Pounding Fury! We are the Eight Petaled Rose, sent by Pelonius to render aid to the Chief Stallion and his companions. We have defeated the pirates and wish to come aboard!"

As the two ships move, the steam engine aboard The Rose struggles under the load, but manages to power both ships. Under Mak’s direction, the pirates work on getting the pirate ship ready to sail. Some grumble a bit about this, but it seems effective in keeping them occupied.

The pirates are asked about any crew aboard The Pounding Fury. Most don’t seem to want to answer Mak’s questions, and the answers seem to vary.

”Aye, they had some crew. And they attacked us, so we had to defend ourselves.”
“Crew? I dunno. I, uh, I think they had some sorta crew.”
“Oooo, be careful with that crew. They’s a tricksy lot, an a bunch a liars.”
“Yeah. They were some lyin centaurs. Uh, not like this nice Mr. Kiwina you got here!”

As the heroes approach The Pounding Fury, Rolth calls out. And it’s good that they do. Because as they do so some very wary centaurs peer up from the hold and out from a couple of doorways, longbows drawn. You hear a centaur shout, ”Yeah, you say your some rose petals. Is that some pirate group? And what do you know about Pelonius and the Chief Stallion? We’ll not fall for your pirate tricks. Stay back or we’ll fill you full of holes!” None of them fire their bows however.

I'm starting a Woldian recruitment blitz to fill what looks to be 10 spots.  We have 2 new games starting which accounts for 6 of the openings.  The other 4 are in existing non-veteran games.  The two new games will be called:

Bearclaw Keep
and
Heranmar.

The icons for these are already up on in the Career Games section, but the links just go to the LnB until the games begin.  [THANKS ROB FOR DESIGNING THOSE!!!]

I want to start with recruiting from 1) you good people and 2) inactive players.
SO!!!  If you have a friend [someone that still talks to you] talk to them and see if they want to play!  All they have to do to start the progress is to email me. [gericko@gmail.com].

I am going to send out some emails starting tonight to former players so I do not know whether this push will fill us up quickly or not.  :)  Better to play it on the safe side and talk to your friends immediately!

Enjoy your evening and the weekend AND talking to your friends about joining us!

Tzak’s keen eye sizes things up pretty quickly on The Pounding Fury. He calls out to the Petals to proceed with caution and healing.
Rolth can see how frightened the centaurs are. He speaks to them in tauric, asking permission before he proceeds aboard and heals the nearest centaurs.
Falco tells the centaurs to calm down as he moves onto their ship and begins healing them.
Mak keeps an eye on the pirates. He looks up to see the pirate ship does not fly a flag, and he orders a white flag be flown.
Kiwina also keeps an eye on the pirates. He realizes that being aboard the pirate ship, even in tow, may be confusing. He asks the centaurs what happened.
Elyas also asks what happened to them, adding that they were also beset by the pirates but have dealt with them,

Mak and Kiwina notice that as the ships approach The Pounding Fury, the pirates grow silent and seem withdraw to the hold and to dark places on the deck, almost wanting to disappear.

At the calming words and healing form the Petals, the centaurs stumble out of their hiding places, lowering their bows and spears. A female centaur speaks up with a strong voice.

”Thank Domi that you’re here! I’m glad to hear you killed the pirates, as they killed many of ours. I see they surrendered before you killed them. You must be stronger than we were.

“It was a rough fight, but they damaged our ship and swept aboard. They even killed Brygape. They started loading our goods aboard their ship, but stopped when you approached. When they left we figured it might be our only chance to get the ship in shape and get outta here. The damage is pretty bad though and we’re still taking on water.

“We were afraid you might be more pirates, but hoped maybe both ships would destroy each other. When both ships started heading back I was afraid things had gone from bad to worse. I’m glad to see we were wrong about that. I was frankly a bit doubtful we’d get her ready to sail. But with your help, maybe we can.

“I am Kira, Captain of the The Pounding Fury.

“Who are you and how did you come to be here? Were you just a hapless victim of these pirates like us? Where are you headed?”

Some of the centaurs move to their repairs, and you hear activity down in their hold as shouts identify you as friends and not the foes they feared.

We have killed their captain and many of their crew, and put the rest to work or under guard, as fits their temperament. We have found what I believe are some of your ship's stores in their hold, and would be happy to return them to you if it would help in making repairs. But as we do that, I must ask, what has become of the Chief Stallion? And what is the situation on Bridge Island?"

Kiwina estimates which is the nearest port -- Bridge or Centaur Island. "Captain Kira, how would you like to proceed? As my friends have stated, we can try to repair The Pounding Fury or we can carry your crew on these other vessels." Kiwina looks at the damage to consider whether it could be sailed or towed while repairs are being made. No way would he want to abandon his vessel in the middle of the ocean. (profession sailor = 24; craft ships = 21; perception = 21)

Kiwina considers how long the trip should be and wants the Petals and the leaders of the centaurs to consult on how to best manage the pirates and whether pirates will be needed as crew. If they are not needed as crew, perhaps they can be divided into three groups and confined.

If they take all three vessels, he suggests Mak and Elyas travel on the center one since they can most effectively help if there is trouble on the others.

DM Mark - The Pirates are Still Alive?
Saturday May 22nd, 2021 1:04:49 AM

Rolth introduces the Petals and asks about the Chief Stallion and Bridge Island.
Mak suggest to Rolth that the pirates be pressed into making repairs on The Pounding Fury.
Falco asks Captain Kira if she would permit the pirates to do as Mak suggests.
Elyas suggests some options. He can see there is a fair amount of damage here. It will probably take a couple days to effect repairs enough to get The Pounding Fury ready to sail on her own.
Kiwina knows this is the second day of sailing from Centaur Isle, and they expected to reach Bridge Island by nightfall. He estimates it will take the better part of a day to get the The Pounding Fury repaired enough to stop taking on water as it’s towed, and about two full days to repair it enough to sail under it’s own power.

Captain Kira and the crew are very grateful for the healing, though many are still badly injured. At the mention of the Tournament of Roses, the moods seem to brighten as many recall the Petals from that. The appreciation is cut short, however.

When it is suggested that the pirates be brought aboard to make repairs, the crew becomed visibly upset and Captain Kira is furious.

”WHAT? The pirates are still alive? Why have they not been put to the sword and a watery grave? They killed centaurs! And a Tribal Leader! You beat them in battle, and I will not fight you. But I promise you that if they set foot aboard my ship again I will kill them myself.” There are nods of agreement from the crew.

The Captain says they took Pholus and five tribal leaders to Bridge Isle. They waited for a while, and eventually only Brygape returned. The captain will relate the following:

”Brygape was in pretty rough shape, beat up and half starved when we saw him. He told us that Pholus led them on a fool's errand seeking wisdom or guidance. He said maybe Pholus was getting senile and hearing voices, or perhaps some evil being had invaded his dreams and lured the centaurs to their doom. Whatever happened, Brygape would not elaborate. He said it was too gruesome to speak of until he sought the council of the Corral. He said the others were all dead, but I, well, I didn’t believe him. I heard him sayin ‘they’re dead, they must be dead.’

“I wanted to go after Pholus you see, but Brygape, his family is powerful on Centaur Isle. He threatened me, said I could lose my ship if we didn’t take him back right away. So back we went. I fear I made the wrong decision, but I really didn’t have much choice. I wonder if Pholus is still there - wherever they went. Pholus said he was lookin’ for someone named Nystal or Nyloth or something like that on Bridge Island. Brygape got mad when I asked who that was, and told me never to speak that name again. He spent most of his time in his quarters.”

Rolth reassures Captain Kira that he will also not allow the pirates back aboard the Fury. He does explain, however, that we did not kill them all yet because some may have been pressed unwillingly into service, we were initially unsure whether any imprisoned centaurs were hidden below the deck of the burning pirate ship, and we felt it more important to quickly extinguish the flames and come to the Fury's aid. He quietly adds, out of earshot of any pirates, that their fate remains undetermined and it is not too late to render justice and put an end to any who deserve it.

Turning to the subject of Pholus, Brygate and the others in their small company, Rolth will ask whether any of them mentioned a power called the Deep or wore amulets with tentacles. Nyloth is somehow connected to the mystery of this dark power, and we aim to investigate further!

"The pirates will have a trial. All beings have the right to be heard and listened to fairly before being judged. They have surrendered, and to harm them now would be to succumb to the specter of revenge." That much is textbook what Kira would have heard at a temple of Pantheon. "But they do not have to come aboard your vessel."

"And for what it's worth, you may get your chance to go after Pholus. Bridge island is the closer port, and you'll need repairs. I would rather we get The Pounding Fury in good enough shape to tow and take you there than leave you to make repairs and head for Centaur Isle yourselves.." The other Petals may offer different counsel, of course, but Kiwina does not want to leave the centaurs.

Unfortunately the story of the centaurs sounds like more of the squiddish evil. At some stage they should probably show the amulet to Kira and her crew to see if it appears at all familiar.

Elyas feels a pit open in his gut as the story is told. even without details it sounds an awful lot like what happened with the last people affected by the Deep Amulets. how many of these cursed things were there? a strategy of containment on the amulets they found wasn't going to go very far if there were so many in the wild and probably more being crafted.

"I agree with the Captain. we continue to Bridge Island. you can attempt repairs on your ship while we try to find out what happened to the Stallion. Unfortunately we have heard similar tales before and it ended badly. we need to know, did Brygape have an amulet on him? these evil symbols look like tentacles and have caused much trouble already"

Rolth assures Captain Kira that the pirates will not be allowed aboard her ship. He quietly tells her that it’s not too late to render justice to the pirates. Then he asks if Brygape mentioned a power called the Deep or wore an amulet with tentacles.
Kiwina states that the pirates will have a trial and will not come aboard. He suggests The Pounding Fury return to Bridge Island to effect repairs.
Mak asks one of the pirates if they are holding any prisoners aboard.
Tzak stands ready with sword in hand to keep the peace.
Falco watches.
Elyas also urges a return to Bridge Island, and asks about some troublesome tentacled amulets.

Captain Kira again saysm “Those pirates should all be put to death, and their ship should be forfeit. They attacked us unprovoked, and they killed a few centaurs including a tribal leader!” Asked about some power called “the Deep,” she replies, ”Not sure what you mean by a power. The sea is indeed powerful, but Brygape didn’t really speak of the sea. I don’t recall him wearing any sort of amulet, but his things are in his quarters.”

“As for going to Bridge Island, aye, that seems the best idea. We could put our ship in tow, and that might be better than trying to make repairs out here. If a storm came up we might be sunk if we stay. Sale of that pirate ship will certainly help pay for repairs. I do worry that we should get word to Pelonius and Hollyhocks as to what Brygape said about Pholus and the others. It’s certainly fortunate that you came long when you did….”

Tzak

Kiwina and Falco can tell it will take a couple hours to make the The Pounding Fury seaworthy enough to be towed - there is a hole that needs repaired. But it can be done.

Aboard The Pounding Fury, Captain Kira pauses while she considers Rolth’s request. ”Hmmm. As for Brypage’s remains he fell overboard when he was killed - or perhaps the pirates shoved his body over. I’m not sure. Maybe he met that deep you were talking about. What is that, anyway?”

“As for his things, I have his bow here. Found it where he fell. I would not normally search his quarters, seeing as how he was a tribal leader, much less let another do so. But you seem to be worried about something in particular. I will take you to his quarters myself so I can say I was there. I caution you that it is unlikely that I will let you remove anything though.”

Kira leads Rolth below decks to a stateroom and unlocks the door. Searching the room reveals some mundane things. There is no amulet, but there is a journal. The journal seems to be written by Brygape, and says that Pholus did meet someone that showed the Centaurs where to go, some human named Nyloth. They were led to some large metal doors. Inside there was only death. First Agarime was killed by the remains of some minotaurs. Then Sebochus was bludgeoned to death by the place’s inhabitants. Pholus then led them to a hall of mirrors, but was trapped. When some things came to kill Brygape, he fled. He narrowly escaped. He roamed the countryside for a time, riddled with guilt but unwilling to return to the metal doors. Then he eventually decided that he would return to Centaur Isle and tell the Corral that all had been lost and that the Corral must choose a new leader.

The captain reads the journal when Rolth is done, and keeps the book.

Aboard The Razor’s Edge, it was the cook that mentioned a prisoner, and he gestures to another pirate. ”He kin show ya where ta go - he’s been takin’ the man meals. He’s in rough shape though. Cap’n had him roughed up every few hours. Sumpthin’ about his spells. But you’ll need the cap’n’s keys.”

Mak roughly grabs the pirate the cook gestured to, who submissively directs Mak and Elyas. They venture below decks and come to a door, unlocking it with the key. The pirate stands back, ”He’s … he’s kinda crazy.” Before you in the darkness is a tall human in robes, bound in manacles chained to the wall, but long enough to let the prisoner move about. You hear him talking as you open the door. The man seems to be alone. He squints at you as the dim light from the hallway spills into the dark room. The air is a bit stuffy here. Certainly smells of human to Rolth.

Rolth appreciates the trust placed in us to search the cabin under the Captain's watchful eye. He is fascinated by the journal, and hopes that it contains clues that will allow us to find Pholus. "It may not be too late to save Pholus, perhaps he still wanders in the hall of mirrors. And with this information, we may be able to better avoid or deal with those hazards."

He is happy to then accompany Elyas and Mak to find the prisoner, who most definitely smells human. He keeps a wary eye out, and waits to see whether Elyas has some arcane means to determine what is up with this strange fellow.

Mak unlocked the door and carefully opened it to look inside. When he saw the tall human he spoke softly as he allowed the light from the companionway to spill into the brig.

"I'm Mak. This is Elyas and Rolth. We've taken control of this vessel and the pirates running it will have to answer to the law. We are here to free you, but we need to examine you first. Rolth is a priest and Elyas a wizard. They will check you for enchantments and disease, then I will unlock your bonds and you'll be able to collect your gear and go topside. While my friends look at you is there anything pressing we should sort for you? What is your name?"

Mak handed the keys to Elyas and moved forward to do a check of Wil's person. He looked for any jewelry the man might be wearing as well as symbols or amulets. He explained as he did so. "There is an evil in the isles that calls itself the "Deep". This evil works through people unduly influenced by magical devices and some of these people have been turned into abominations as a strange form of tentacled creature. Have you experienced anything that might lead you to believe you've encountered this evil force? Have you heard of a man called Nyloth?"

The soldier continued to pat the man down. Once he had the all clear from Rolth and Elyas he collected the keys and freed the man as he offered to support him should he have trouble standing.

OOC: Wil's stat line seems to contradict the story of a man beaten regularly to keep him from using his magic. We need some clarification as to whether Wil needs healing or not.

Kiwina and Falco mind the ongoing repairs.
Rolth tells Captain Kira that Pholus may yet be alive. He helps with the prisoner (because the DM mistakenly inserted him into that.)
Mak speaks kindly to the prisoner. He introduces himself, Elyas and Rolth, and explains about the trouble the heroes encountered with the strange amulets. He asks if this man has heard of Nyloth and searches him before unlocking the manacles.
Tzak keeps an eye on the pirates.
Elyas searches the man. He casts Protection from Evil on the man as well before he is released.
Wil is remarkably compliant and agreeable, despite talking to …. something. He asks if he can join on their quest, whatever that quest is.

Looking at this prisioner, he’s not so much injured as ill treated. He looks haggard and tired. And nuts. Mak and Elyas do not find any sort of tentacled amulet on him, though he does have several sources of magic and he carries a holy symbol of Gargul. God of the dead - that could be ominous.

As Rolth suggests that Pholus may be alive, the captain slams his fist into the cabin wall. ”I doubted Brygape was telling the truth. Do you think he would betray Pholus? We need to return to Bridge Island right away!” Rolth can see guilt and shame behind the Captain’s anger. The Captain even goes so far as to suggest abandoning the centaur and pirate ships to get back even faster, but he is talked out of this by his crew. Though he agrees, he is clearly agitated.

It is evening by the time repairs are made. The going is slow to Bridge Island and the ships do not reach the island until the next dawn.

As your ships pull in, you see three other ships anchored here. Two large trading vessels - one has a human crew, and other has no crew aboard. Neither has a name on them. The third looks to be a fast, narrow ship, The Tailor’s Needle, and you can see elves on her deck looking your direction as you pull in.

There are two short, shallow docks here and the area seems fairly busy. There are a few small fishing vessels moored at the docks, as well as other small boats pulled ashore. Nets and gear are drying in the sun. As you look over the activity, something seems a little odd.

DC 12 Perception or Sense Motive: Highlight to display spoiler: {It’s the mix of workers at the docks that is unusual. You see centaurs, liontours and minotaurs working together here, as well as a few humanoids here and there. There’s even a couple small wolf-like beastfolk here.}

The ships are too big to take to the docks. The pirate ship carries a long boat that will hold about 8 medium humanoids. Oh, and you have a hold full of pirates.

The question is, who will secure the rudder -- a task Kiwina is willing to do himself, but thinks others might get more satisfaction from.

Kiwina mostly ignores Wilford, not caring for Gargul, but can't bypass the question, How did that disaster with the Sargrass treat ya? "This ship is the Rose. She came back with us from the Sargrass... I hated that sea of grass, but all in all, I'd have to say the outcome was most excellent."

Rolth suggest that Kiwina and Falco venture ashore to alert the authorities, while the rest of the petals stay behind to secure the pirate ship and keep an eye on the pirates. He suggests several boats that could be used.
Mak offers to watch the pirates. He pays the cook assuming the man will want to go ashore.
Wil asks a few questions, including where he can get some food.
Falco agrees with Rolth’s plan.
Kiwina makes sure the things taken from The Pounding Fury are given back to the ship.

As Mak pays the pirate cook, he replies, ”Thank you. Yer a man a yer word.”

Kiwina, Falco and the cook (anyone else?) take a boat (which one?) and row toward the docks. The centaur, owlfolk and the human aboard draw some curious stares. They eventually reach the docks, which seem busy with some fishing vessels being loaded to head out.

As they pull up to the docks, a minotaur looks down at them. ”Three ships, eh, and one in tow. That has a story behind it. Where are you from? Do you need a long boat sent out to your ships for others to come ashore? Are you transferring cargo? Do you need repairs?”

------------------------------------------
Centaurs from The Pounding Fury come aboard the pirate ship, and while their contempt for the pirates is evident, they show some restraint as they recover their supplies. And they take a few more supplies from the pirate ship, feeling justified since it was the pirates that caused the damage. The centaurs get to work fixing their ship. It will likely take a few days.

There is talk about securing the rudder of the pirate ship, but you realize that any steps you take short of destroying the rudder can easily be undone as well. However, under Mak’s intimidating gaze the pirates seem cowed. For now. A couple will say to Mak, ”Oy to may captor. How’s about we get some food?”

Kiwina explains the situation to the minotaur. "Our ship is the Rose, and The Pounding Fury -- being towed -- would have been here not long ago. The Razor's Edge is a pirate vessel. We found the pirates attacking the Fury and fought them off. Their ship has been disabled for now, and this is their ship's boat we're using. Is there anyone in authority here who could take them into custody? The Fury is going to need repairs, and would be glad of a longboat so they can arrange things. I wouldn't send a boat to the Razor just yet."

If he gets directions to the authorities, Kiwina explains the situation to them as well.

Mak collected the dead captains arrows as extras and placed them into his pack. As for the other equipment he examined the chain shirt to see if it were made of special materials. He also took a few minutes to examine the rapier and it's keen edge and though it wasn't as heavily enchanted as his own blade it was surprisingly capable of more damage. In the end he admitted to the group that while he could use it, and effectively so, his sword of choice was the family blade he carried and his bow. He'd rather these items be sold in the catacombs. He had plans.

As for feeding the pirates, Mak pulled out his own rations and dispensed them to the sailors. He had 45 meals worth of rations in his pack (3/day) which should give them enough for at least one meal each. Mak ate one of them himself and handed one to Wil as well.

OOC: The chain is the same as Maks unless it's made of mithril or some other light material, so unless it's lighter than his own someone else can claim it or we can sell it. Legacy Item rules allow Mak to pay for properties his level bonus won't cover, but adding any additional things to his sword would put it over the 50% maximum for any one item. Need to know total number of pirates on board so I can make an adjustment to Mak's rations.

Elyas helps watch over the pirates. He doesn't expect them to try anything, but now that they were close to land and the reality of their upcoming life in prison was setting in, some of them might do something stupid.

During the travel time, Elyas identified the magical items and laid them out, explaining their uses to the others in the group.

Kiwina and Falco respond to the minotaur, asking about authorities to turn over the pirates to, as well as repairs for the ship.
Rolth sees that the pirates are fed, and has a few questions for Wil.
Wil has a few answers, and says he would be happy to join up with the Petals.
Tzak stays focused on the pirates.
Mak looks over the pirate captain's things, and takes a few.
Elyas keeps an eye on the pirates as he goes over the captain’s things.

The pirates are fed. They’re a surly bunch, often complaining that nobody should let that cook go, as he was the worst of the bunch. Actually the captain was the worst. Then the cook. Then some of the pirates that died. And the rest are just misunderstood angels that don’t want no part of piracy no more. No sir.

It’s a good thing that Tzak, Mak and Elyas are keeping an eye on things with the pirates. As they sit in the hold with much of the ship's goods, a couple of fights break out, but a quick arrow from Mak into a nearby timber seems to stop both.

Ashore, the cook quickly takes his leave thanking Falco and Kiwina for their fair treatment.

The minotaur watches the man go, and responds to the questions.

”You brought pirates here for justice? If they were pirates, why are they still alive? Why are you making them someone else’s responsibility? You should talk to the Harbor Master about that. Name’s Yelsen - he’s over there, but he’s not gonna be happy about this. Repairs? I can help see to that. Tell me what you need done and I’ll round up some folk to help.” You notice a couple of canine beast folk that seem to work for the minotaur listening carefully.

Talking to the liontaur Harbor Master, Falco and Kiwina learn that he understands why they might not have the stomach to deal with the pirates. He says they've dealt with this before, and since they will be solving your problem the Petals will need to pay for this service. He offers to take the pirate ship in payment for prosecuting them. He says this usually done by organizing some clerks that will interview the victims before the pirates are put to death.

Tsak notices that the pirates have failed any chance they may have had at clemency. Breaking into foodstuffs and alcohol is bad enough, but several seem to be arming themselves with varying implements. He will make sure to pass this information on when they are handed over to the local authorities.

The price of the ship in return for dealing with the matter seems fair, the petals can only use 1 ship anyway.

Kiwina tells the minotaur to check in with the captain of The Pounding Fury on the repairs. He agrees to give up the ship and the pirates to the Harbor Master, and says they have witnesses to what happened.
Elyas grabs one of the pirates, and presses a dagger to the man’s throat as he calls for all the pirates to lay down any weapons they have.
Wil seemingly speaks a dead person and declares that he is no longer an Eye of Gargul.

At the minotaur’s direction, the two canine beastfolk get in a rowboat and head out to The Pounding Fury.

At the docks, Yelsen says. ”Very good. Which is the pirate ship, and how many are there? How are these pirates secured? I assume you have them locked up? I will round up some clerks and a couple of interviewers and send them out to...where should they start? Temple to Pantheon? Sure, it’s up there. Why do you ask?”

On board the pirate ship, things are tense. Rolth and Elyas take a harsh tone. The pirates are quick to respond.
“HEY. Easy wit dat knife there fella.”
”First to be killed? Pick Jelly over there. He’s a bad one, he is.”
“Oooo. I tol you my name ain’t Jelly. Ifn’ yer gonna kill someone, kill Makes over there.”

“Ooo. Yer a liar. I’ll slice you for that!”
“That cook, he was the problem. You should go get him. But don’t tell him I said so.”
“Hey, we don want no trouble now. No sir. We surrender some more.”
“Aw, please mister. Let us go. We won’t make no trouble.”
“Here. Here’s my weapon. See? I honest. You guys need a crewman?”

To pass the time, he speaks with Wil, "So, I was blessed by Warrd with luck in a game of chance once, and some of your priestly brothers rewarded me with some right spiffy duds. I suppose it will be great to have luck on our side in our quest, if you would like to join us. And your spooky companion that you keep talking to! What do you say?"

Falco thanks Yelsen for sending over the men and taking control of the situation with the pirates. He makes a mental note that next time it is probably better just to send them all off the boat on a long swim. They may make it and if not, probably for the best. Death is, after all, just another change in the Wold.

Not sure what else to do he spends a moment looking around the docks for some sweets he can bring back with him. Too much time on the sea, some hard candies or some such would be good to have around.

As for the temple, well, I just kind of figured they'd be part of the proceedings with the pirates, probably where you'd find the interviewers." He gives his best estimate of how many there are.

DM Mark - "Who wants to be first?”
Wednesday June 2nd, 2021 12:04:22 AM

Rolth informs the pirates they are very fortunate they live to see another day. Then he welcomes Wil to the Petals.
Wil suggests the pirates be taken to an island where they will be eaten by trees if they don’t die of hunger or thirst first.
Mak likes Wil’s plan and suggest just throwing them all overboard.
Elyas and Rolth are concerned that just letting them swim lets them loose on Bridge Island. He locks a sturdy, latticed hatch cover over the lot so they stay put.
Kiwina says he wants to talk to those at the Temple of Pantheon, assuming they would be involved in over seeing justice for the pirates.
Falco regrets not having sent the pirates to a watery death. He looks for some sweets to take his mind off things.

Aboard the ship, things settle down. Sort of. The Petals discuss various ways the pirates could be killed, ways the pirates seem to want no part of. The pirates are quiet in the dark hold. With the wine and food stuffs and such. The Petals can see them somewhat down there and they seem still.

Ashore, Yelsen informs Kiwina and Falco that he does not need the priests and acolytes of Pantheon to administer justice to pirates. He confirms that he is being asked to take charge of them and their ship, and soon a boat with several minotaurs is on it’s way out to the ship. They have a few long boats in tow and 24 pairs of heavy manacles that have both hand and foot restraints attached.

What do Kiwina and Falco do? Do they stay ashore or return? Falco can find some baked sweets, but hard candies are fairly rare and another matter. He will find some from Asildur, but it will cost him about 5 gold if he actually wants hard candy.

The two canine beast folk on a separate small boat make it to The Pounding Fury first. Captain Kiwina gives them a list of materials they will need for repairs, but informs the beastfolk that once they have the materials the centaurs will make the repairs themselves. The materials will cost about 120 gp, which the beast folk later return with.

The minotaurs show up with their boats and chains and questions. They begin by interviewing Captain Kira and a few of the centaurs, asking about the pirates and the attack, taking notes. The centaurs get a bit riled up as they answer, demanding justice. The questioning is short and uncomplicated, and the minotaurs are terse and businesslike. They come aboard the pirate ship and The Rose. They will ask each of the Petals and even Ramsey what happened. What do you tell them? Do you have questions for them?

As they do so, others march the pirates on deck, indicating they will be shackled and taken ashore. There are a few that panic, but the Petals and the minotaurs are able to subdue them. You can see from the shackles that only a fool would go into the water with those heavy chains and no way to swim. The pirates stare threateningly at the Petals. Or they try to - they’re not really very threatening in chains.

”Good riddance to ya, ya jerks.”
“Yeah, I hope you rot!”
“If’n they kill us, I’m comin back to haunt ya.”
“Me too. I wanna haunt em too!”
“I’m gonna haunt em more’n you.”
“Yeah, at least we gots our honor.”
“Yeah. We lived a free life, we did.”
“Hey stupid, in case you ain’t payin attention, we ain’t free now.”
“Shuddup Jelly, you ain't helpin none.”

Rolth asks whether the Petals may keep a pair of the ballistae when the minotaurs take over the pirate vessel. If agreeable, he'll get the crew of the Rose to take on that task. Then he is ready to head ashore, paying no heed to the foolish words of these condemned pirate scum. The young nobleman watched the pirates as they were shackled and carried away with a fair amount of pity in his eyes. He understood what it was like to be conscripted into serving and he suspected a small few of the pirates had been. He hoped that those few were able to show enough remorse to avoid the hangman's noose. He really didn't know what to say to men condemned to death and it seemed wrong to speak to them or give them hope. Only by their actions and contrition might they yet live.

When he was interviewed, Mak noted the pirates that seemed to give up first and he suggested those might not have been willing members of the crew and certainly not brave enough to engage in piracy on their own.

The entire experience unnerved him and as a new follower to Pantheon Mak sought out Kiwina to speak on matters of justice, but mostly to try and understand and accept that they weren't just sending 20 men off to their death. Mak would seek out a tavern that evening, but not to revel and celebrate, but to mourn the fate of the pirates and the life they chose.

Yes, Mak planned to get smashed.

"Did he say he is going to come back on haunt us?"
"That would not be good. I don't think I could handle pirates blabbering in my head. It's bad enough I have to listen to you." He says.

Mak thought he heard voices and the name Angus Macgrump as he waited his turn to board the longboat for the trip to shore. Along the way he was quiet as he contemplated the events of the journey to Bridge island. He also spoke briefly to a crewman of the Rose to arrange to have Elmer brought ashore. That horse still needed to be trained to have a rider. He'd either get the horse trained or trade Elmer for another that was capable of being ridden.

OOC: If riding horses are available here Mak will exchange Elmer one of those. Elmer is essentially just a pack horse he bought from slimey Liontaurs. Any horse he gets at this point he will make certain can be ridden. Mak will also buy a composite shortbow and 20 arrows on his way to the tavern.

At the tavern Mak kept a look out for the man with three eyes as that's how he remembered Nyloth. As he looked around through the mug at his mouth he discovered that many of the people here had three eyes. Mak's memory was him looking through the rim of his glass at the man. The nobleman slapped 50 gold on the counter and ordered a round for the room in an attempt to cheer himself up, but all he could think of was those men being marched off to their doom. Better to have died in combat than at the hands of the executioner.

Falco considers the fate of the pirates but cannot find it in himself to have any sympathy, though there is some empathy. They will die, it is just a change, maybe whatever comes next will be better for them. Probably not though, we all make choices.

With these thoughts in mind Falco wanders a bit, looking to replenish his arrows but overall just checking out the community. Seeing other beastfolk he is not really concerned that a little fellow like him walking around will be an issue. After a time he heads to the tavern that Mak had mentioned for a meal and company.

Elyas is relatively unfazed by the fate of the pirates. Justice would be dealt, and even having a chance to plead their case was more than most ships would have given the pirates. Elyas is just glad he didn't have to kill the pirates himself
plenty of killing going around lately... and there will be more if we don't stop these Deep priests from spreading their magic around these islands

As the others recoup, drink or pray, Elyas is focused on learning more about the amulets. He puts one of the non-magical ones around his own neck only partially hidden by clothing and wanders the waterfront, looking for others who might have the amulets. he asks around to see if anyone has seen such an amulet before and tries to determine where the cultists might be
[diplomacy to gather information = 19]

he generally keeps an eye out for people acting out oof place as if mind controlled, or any of the amulets, or any signs/grafitti/marks that resemble tentacles.

If any others ask to come with him he will allow it, but he is very focused on locating the amulets and doesn't let other things distract him right now

After the temple, Kiwina joins the others. He watches Wilford, not sure what to make of the man. Obviously he's not sane.

But, Kiwina reflects, it is debatable whether it is sane to go looking for the Deep or its minions. Although he isn't sure what the Deep is, the amulets that it uses to manipulate others are certainly worrisome -- they turned a whole tribe of liontaurs on each other. And the chuul cleric of the Deep must've had a hand in turning them to undead. He hopes they can find chief stallion Pholus in time to save him.

Keeping these thoughts to himself until he can get the measure of Wilford, Kiwina enjoys being back on Bridge Island, where at least the taurs get along with each other.

Tsak Rezar keeps an eye out for Nyloth
Elyas tries to investigate the amulets
Rolth Niheow suggests discussing things with Pelonius, and then looks for Nyloth
Kiwina visits the temple.
Falco Ambersier eventually joins Mak at the pub.
Mak goes a drinking
Wil queries what is going on.

You all manage to end up at the inn, called The Sow's Ear, the barkeep is a gruff Liontaur called Fewenryth.

Between you all, discussing with various members of the community, buying rounds of drinks and such, and just cajoling in general, a few things quickly become apparent.

Pholus was seen with 5 Centaurs coming ashore from the ship The Pounding Fury, and they spent a few days in town before heading up into the hills.

They met with an older human man with white hair, some sort of roguish type, who's name was Nyloth.

You feel that there is more to the stories that are going on around here, but you'll have to try to chat with them, or bribe them or do something to get more out of them...

Rolth sizes up the room, pulls out his sargrass lute, and breaks into a song.

From the Isle of the Minotaurs,
Where Aaroth met his end,
We sailed to Wemics' home,
But there the tale does not end.

What came from the depths,
With tentacles all a'waving,
Mad chuul priest in darkness,
Sent all the taurs a'raving.

On toward Chief Stallion,
O'er factions frayed and rent,
At his daughter's bidding,
From the centaurs, sent.

So now we come before you,
Eight Petals of the Rose,
We seek the man named Nyloth,
For reasons you can suppose.

"I'm gonna need a little help with writing the next verse, what say you fine fellows enjoy that ale that my dear friend Mak just bought you and maybe help me flesh out the story from here. Where has this Nyloth character gone?"

While the others concentrate on figuring out who Nyloth was and where he might have gone, Kiwina tries to identify the locals that the centaurs dealt with while they were in town. During those few days in town, they must have provisioned or done business with someone other than one roguish human. To the extent that he can, he talks with folks who appear to work on or around the water, since he's more comfortable with them.

Elyas a bit too drunk to be friendly, seems to being bothering some patrons, but they good naturedly move him on.
Rolth Niheow's song helps the crowd relax and begin talking a bit more freely, while he watches them
Kiwina listens for any notes about the large metal doors

Wil is charming and friendly and manages to get a few people to open up, though they seem a little scared or uncertain about the amulet.

It quickly becomes apparent that Brygape was the only one who returned from the little escapade, and that he was very upset when he returned... the crowd seems mostly sad on his behalf too, as only he came back and he didn't really speak with anyone, so no one knows what happened.

However, one of the patrons, a young looking Liontaur speaks up.

"It's Nyloth you be wanting? He is staying with Kyrstah and old fisherwomen who lives not too far from here. Just on the riverfront. I mean... she don't fish no more, but makes good gear for those that do! Maybe visit her and see if Nyloth is there. To Mak money was a tool just like anything else. he never had any problems getting it and his needs were meager so he had no great need for it either. He put down a 25gp tip for the tender and stepped outside to check on his new horse, Elmer the second, to check it's tack and make certain it was ready for travel. He cinched the saddle tightly, made certain the bit was secure, and set about arranging a quiver with 20 arrows designed specifically for his new short bow.

With his weapons secured about the horse and his longbow carefully packed away he waited for Rolth and the others to arrive outside so they could continue their quest.

{ooc: Odd I did post last night, maybe I did not hit submit.}

Falco had been looking about the tavern to see if any of the beastfolk from the dock were present. Even though he was changed to this shape through the power of the warper-sar he still feels a kinship, of course he has never actually spent much time with other beastfolk.

Falcos thought and search are cut short by the young liontaur's announcement.

"My good man, thank you for the guidance. Come to think of it some fishing gear might be of use too."
