Garret says hes open to side benefits so Gimp touches Garrets belt and bestows the ability for Garret to Fly 60 feet at good speed 2x per day for 19 minutes each time and air mastery while Garret is flying. I know fluctuations in Jericho space caused weave elements to change, these enchantments to your belt give you some of the benefits you used to have when Tink wove you elements

Sesha presents a white rose to Gimp that had been preserved a symbol of Serenbeth.

Zane defers the questions asked to Gimp to others and then talks to their new free willed construct ally.

Bosk asks for Gimps thought on what enchantment he should ask for voicing what he had in mind. Gimp says, I could do what you requested or I could do for you what I did for Garret only with fire blindsight 2x per day for 100 minutes whenever you use it and fire walking 2x per day for 200 minutes.

Beri requests Gimp do something with his dimple if he cant bless it.

Restlin quickly gets lost in thought as his new headband expands his mind.

Gimp hrms and haws over the flower and Bosks dimple. Give me a sec, Ill figure something out.

To Beris question Gimp responds, The main thing to worry about is time/space wonkiness. Since the tower exists in multiple realms simultaneously you should keep your eyes out for portals to other worlds. Try not to fall into them. They also make it hard to track souls of those that die in the tower as most of em die in one of those other worlds and end up in strange places.

The repair ship chimes a greeting to the Starblazer, which doesnt reply. When Zane suggests the repairs it chimes its thanks and eagerness to go help. Int check DC 20 Zane only Highlight to display spoiler: {the ritual calls for intelligent, free willed constructs would the ship count?}

Something itches at the back of Zane's brain, but he;s more interested in making sure that the city is running as much as normal....
"Will you respond to Dock? We need some name to call you that way we know who we are talking about. A Dock is where sea going ships go to get get unloaded, but also to get repairs. And the Noble races go to Doctors of a sort or their Holy men to get healed, or fixed up, when hurt. Also this way you'll know when we are addressing you rather than someone else near by.
Let me show you the way to the Hook City Bridge and you can check to see if it needs fixing."

Zane yells down to the others, (if it agrees to Dock as a name)"I'm taking Dock to the bridge first then seeing about other repairs. Just ring me when we're ready to go, I stocked up on more fresh bread and meat on a stick, at least for everyone but Garret."

Bosk takes a moment to ponder Gimp's suggestion. I like that idea...as fire tempers Iron...lets do it. I can always upgrade the other stuff myself. After his gear is upgraded Bosk imagines the usefulness of such a gift. With this he could keep watch at night or even sleep in a bonfire.

Sesha thanks Gimp and then patiently waits to see what the Imp comes up with.

(OOC: functions as slotless ring of wishes w/ 2 charges; will lose half its petals each time a wish is used)

Zane dubs their new construct friend Dock and sees about finding Dock some work to do. He also plans to find some meat on a stick

Garret thanks Gimp for the blessing remarking he was going to get a rug of flying but the blessing is better.

Tink replies that Dock is a great name.

Beri asks if the portals are one way or bi-directional.

Restlin debates taking a bath.

Bosk appreciates his gift.

For the most part one way Gimp says. Sometimes they get unstable and things slip in from the other side. Also the tower guardians can pull you out if you fall into one. That might be a good way to get the stuff you need for the ritual.

The newly christened dock is silent for a moment, seemingly considering. It then goes on a long, complicated series of chimes.

Tink remarks that their new friend already had a name but it is hard to pronounce and it is happy with the nick name of Dock so Dock it is.

Zane agrees with Tink and then comes to the realization that Dock might be one of those free willed constructs Gimp and Gargul had been talking about considering it is more autonomous and talkative than Starblazer.

Wyaar comments they may have solved one piece of the puzzle.

Garret looks for his favorite meat on a stick vendor taking some time to splash water on his face as he arrives.

Restlin reflects upon what preferred pronouns a Construct repair ship might have points out the conundrum of having a construct worship Gargul and then thinks he needs to bathe and think.

Sesha kneels before Gimp, thanks him for the blessing and then puts the now enchanted flower back in her hair.

Beri thanks Gimp for the insight and then turns his thoughts to bridge and how they effected temporary repairs using the Star Mages tech. He wonders if they have any additional to spare considering they are facing more portals.

Bosk thanks Gimp for the gift.

Gimp stares off into space and then says, The bossman has approved a special blessing for Beris divet. Just so Beri does not forget Gargul is the Lord of Life and Death, Gargul will bestow upon your divet a blessing that could save Beris life. The blessing is called touch of invulnerability. Anytime Beri is attacked (OOC: with something that requires an attack roll) Beris attacker has a 5% chance of having the results of the attack negated if the attack hits the divet. OOC: attackers will either roll one additional d20 or d100 and if they roll a 1 on a d20 or 1 through 5 on a d100 then they hit the divet and the attack does nothing. Area of effect spells and mind effecting spells are not affected)

Lastly Gimp says to Wyaar, I almost forgot about you my good paladin. While I cant put reflection on your armor I could put the blessing on a shield that is first made to be +1 - ed; after that I can make it so that if you just keep the shield in with your gear you can get its magic shield bonus and the 1/day reflection. So my question is if you do want to do that do you happen to have a shield on you or am I taking that board sticking from the rubble over there and turning it into a slotless shield (OOC: if Wyaar doesnt have a shield then a +1 slotless reflecting buckler has been reskinned as some wooden boards Gimp pulled from some rubble post Crossover and blessed)

Dock gives a non-committal noise as to the question of what pronoun to use. Its starting to sort of bob in the air now, hovering towards town only to catch itself and move back to the tower and the conversation. It chimes out something, DC 15 linguistics Highlight to display spoiler: { its eager to go out and see the town, do some repairs.}

As Garret wanders into town he sees a lot of busy people going hither and yon, getting their lives back in order. Repairs seem to be going surprisingly well; while he can still see signs of major damage here or there, its mostly do to noticeably new repair jobs to heavily damaged areas. When he reaches the market square its a lot emptier than usual, but there are many merchants seeing to the repair of their carts. A few are taking advantage of all the busy people and selling food to passersby in too much of a hurry to stop and prepare something themselves.

Including meat on a stick.

Beri informs Bosk he plans to head to the Star Mages Guild

Tink returns from catacombs shopping and takes the time to lounge in a chair.

Sesha spends some quality time with Sister before whisking both off to her coven.

Restlin takes a trip to the catacombs.

Garret takes a seat on a stone wall eating his meat on a stick and waving at passerbys

Zane talks to Dock, then gives Agatha a stern warning about not touching things before keeping an eye on her and eating some meat on a stick as they travel.

Wyaar enjoys the happy coincidence of being near Garret when the magistrate shows up.

Beri wonders where Agatha is seemingly not recognizing them for a moment.

Bosk points out that shes right in front of them. He apologizes for the use of the backpack and hope it isnt broken.

Agatha is reaching out to touch something when Zane delivers her warning. She quickly puts her hands behind her back and bounces on her toes slightly as she resists the urge. Bosks comments barely penetrate her mind and she says something along the lines of No problem, glad it worked.

Sprocket walks up and glances at dock before turning to Bosk. Seems like it worked wonders. No worries that kind of thing is what its for. No ones going to complain at it being used to save the bridge. It did get jammed up some holding that weight for so long but were already looking on making new and improved versions as emergency equipment.

Dock floats over to the repair crew and activates its crane. There are several heavy beams and it snatches one, to the surprise of the workers, and chimes a question about where to put it/hold it while they secure it in place. The workers look around in confusion. Agatha looks on in delight.

Back at the tower there's a knock on the door. Auslander has arrived looking for the group.

Zane will work as interpreter for the workers at the site. As the beam is being held in place, Zane then explains to the workers below by speaking very loudly so everyone in the area can hear....

"This is Dock, he's here to help with the rebuilding. you'll need someone to just let him know where you want stuff. Like that beam we just moved. You probably won't know exactly what he's asking, but if you politely tell him what you want, he'll do it if he can. I'll be around when I can, but we Iron Dragons have a lot more responsibilities now than we did when we were just the Iron Adventurers. And I'm not sure if you've been informed, but those meteors didn't just land here in Hook City, but hit various places, even on the other side of the Wold. So there is enough reconstruction for everyone to deal with." Zane explains to the construction crew and to Agatha and Sprocket since they are near by. He also expects that local citizens will also hear him, and hopefully it will spread letting the City know that it was not targeted by itself.

Garret sits on the wall he has found and spots Auslander heading for the tower door. He is about to say something, but then realizes that Auslander did not see Garret sitting on the wall. Garret watches him knock on the door and idly wonders if anyone is actually at home, or if Auslander is going to find no one home at all.

Inspector Auslander is that rarest of creatures: the effective and conscientious bureaucrat. Restlin has a high opinion of the man.

Restlin opens the door, glad to see the man. "Auslander, we have had one heck of a time, but I think it's safe to say the bloodweed issue has been addressed for the near and immediate future...hopefully much longer than that as well."

He stands aside and allows Auslander entrance into the tower. "Can I get you anything? Tea? Coffee? Something a little harder, maybe? I won't tell..."

Zane introduces Dock to the construction crews and then explains how Dock can help. He also points out he canft play interpreter all the time.

Garret watches Auslander from his wall perch. He wonders if anyone will be home to respond to Auslanderfs knock.

Restlin opens the door and then offers Auslander a greeting and refreshment.

Wyaar also greets Ausander

Sesha appears back in the tower with sister.

Beri also welcomes Auslander and catches him up on recent events.

Bosk briefly talks to the Star mages about the backpack before heading inside to meet with Auslander.

With Zanes help soon the workers and Dock are working well together and theyfre very grateful for the help, strange as it is. Agatha starts asking Zane for as much information about Dock as she can get once he's done explaining, all the while watching the ship curiously.

In the wake of all those words Sprocket looks surprised as he didnft think he had it in him. He averts his gaze and then hurries to stand behind Agatha. He pulls on her robe and she bends down as the gnome whispers in her ear.

Auslander comes in an accepts some tea. After a few polite inquiries as to everyonefs health he asks the question thatfs really on his mind. hWhat happened? The grass just withered away after a while. I heard you did something with the meteor but then you were gone again and no one knew where. You say the Wolds in danger again? Are you leaving soon?h

"No immediate danger, no. The Sargrass Plains have returned to the Southern Continent. The Sarr, the capital-P Power that runs that place, had been corrupted with the bloodweed. We, and many other heroes beat it back into submission." He pounds his fist into his hand for effect.

"I have plans to stay here in town for at least two weeks. Wardd willing we can get some well needed rest and time for personal projects. There are pressing needs we need to address, but we need time to prepare.

"Anyway, that's where we are. The Powers That Be here in Hook City may want to start diplomatic missions to The Sargrass again...soon as you manage to find the place. Surely the diviners at the Star Mage's guild can take care of that. They may as well be good for something."
He winces as the words come out of his mouth. This blasted hat Gimp gave him has made him very aware of how foolish some of his opinions are. "That wasn't fair. Agatha and Sprocket were instrumental in making sure we had a city to come home to.

One thing you can always trust the powers of the Wold to do is to not make things easy. We need to get through defenses Gargul designed to keep even himself out. I will say that it's encouraging that a god would have so much confidence in us, but we have our work cut out for us.

By the way, when there was that matter with the chit machine we were looking into, we were given access to The Library in Magic City and to the library beneath the treasury. Is the access to these libraries still available to us?

Garret sighs and follows Auslander deciding to stop in the kitchen along the way.

Tink greets Auslander and then peppers him with questions about Mara and the repairs.

Restlin gives a recap on the Dragons plans to Auslander following up with some questions of his own.

Zane explains to Agatha and Sprocket some things about Dock and in the lulls asks the intelligent construct if it is happy with its coworkers.

Wyaar listens to the others and nods along.

Beri elaborates on what Restlin said and then asks if the Dragons still have access to the magical library they used when researching the chit machine.

Dock chimes that itll be fine, Its not like anyone can force it to do anything it doesnt want to do. It does request Zane get Agatha off its deck before he goes though. Agatha is reluctent to go. Its not like I would take it apart! she considers a moment. Well, not while its flying.

Dock is not reassured.

Auslander says, That sounds like a tall order but youve a been able to handle pretty much anything that came up so far. If so I can examine it and if it isnt in good order dispatch someone to get a notary public over here and update them.

Tink has a grin on her face hearing about the notary being on the way.

Bosk cringes at the thought of more red tape.

Zane scoops up Agatha and Sprocket and flies them over to the meeting.

Auslander says, Restlin, your library card is in good standing and it will allow you to bring precisely one guest with you.

To the others he says, Unfortunately it seems the rest of the documents have expired so Im going to have to send a runner for Robert the Notary. Im glad most of you still seem to have your documents but that piece of bread that picked up some of the ink from Garrets papers is unacceptable.

A runner is sent for and a nervous looking man with eye lenses is brought forth. You ask -- ask-- asked for me boss? the man stammers.

Robert, please create a new one year temporary library pass for Garret Goodbarrel and update the library documents for the other dragons except Restlin to expire precisely one year from todays date.

Agatha seems disappointed in not being able to stay and watch Dock some more but she comes along.

As to Tink's questions Auslander says, "Mara is fine. The repairs are proceeding on schedule well technically ahead of schedule as we've contracted the Star Mages to help. The city is recovering and the people are as well as can be expected."

Ah, well there are a couple things I am wanting to check for in the library. The first is general research as our instructions were intentionally vague and alternative possibilities were hinted at. I honestly have no clue what those might be, but I'd be a fool not to look into every tip a god provided me.

With that the druid absent mindedly runs his finger over the dimple on his forehead, remembering what happened last time hi didn't fully embrace what Gargul had told him.

The other thing I would like to look into are the preferred attack methods of both the one we are looking for, and the one who we are expecting to subdue him. The fight sounds like it's going to be a little too evenly matched for comfort, and I'd like to tip the scales in the Wold's favor. Also, I learned the hard way how quick a god can kill you, I'd like to know what we're up against so I can avoid a repeat of this afternoon.

With her CC shopping complete, some crafting done, a little training, Tink finally feels ready to hit the adventuring trail again. What better place to start than a library!

"Yes, uh, could you please direct us towards any documents that may mention granting sentience to a machine?" she speaks in a very hushed voice "Tomes, manuscripts, any sort of document would be quite helpful" Tink holds her library pass out for inspection.

(Of course Tink has Profession, Librarian...)

Restlin gives Auslander a nod, though he's not sure how to keep Garret out of trouble AND get work done. A tall order to be sure.

That said, Restlin's a smart guy.

On their way to the library, he stops at a confectioner's and buys the biggest, sturdiest jaw-breaker they have. He wants the thing the size of his fist. He'll use polymorph any object to make a small one bigger if need be.

When Garret arrives at the Library, Restlin hands over the gloves of his special suit that always remain clean no matter what and suggests Garret try them on.

He then casts Sympathy on the jaw-breaker, making it irresistible to members of the Goodbarrel family.

Garret must make a DC 42 will save or be fascinated by the jaw breaker and unable to leave it alone. SR check is 35. If he succeeds on the will save, he must check again in 30 minutes.

Restlin will keep Garret occupied until he fails a save and becomes enraptured by the jawbreaker. Once he's safely eating the massive thing, he'll join Tink in her research. He will stay near the halfling, pondering things aloud where he can hear. Dude may be a handful, but he has moments of brilliance.

It seems that our enemies have started to do their homework on us and made preparations.
We need to do the same if we want the Wold to survive.
Could you tell me what shelves I might find books detailing Kevintar and Marteus?
Specifically about their their strengths and weaknesses, past combat, their final days, and Bone Tower.

There is also a cult that moved into that area that are I'm curious about. I believe the cult has been around for some time, and while they only recently have been of note records of their preferred magics and weapons would be nice to find.

Oh, and any documents you may have telling tales of a free-willed undead construct would be extremely helpful.

Tink asks about sentient machines

Restling gets and enchants an enormous jawbreaker to keep Garret busy.

Garret starts to enjoy the jawbreaker, though hes able to resist the enchantment at first.

Zane explains hes only worried about Dock around Agatha; it can take care of itself otherwise.

Wyarr agrees with Zanes point and suggests they always have someone escorting her when she interacts with Dock.

Ber asks about books on the gods, bone tower, cults, and free-willed constructs.

Sesha wonders if Beris recent experience with Gargul is what is driving him to research so hard.

The librarian looks at Tink and says, Sentience to a machine? You mean like constructs and golems? While the library does keep some tomes about this practice for historical purposes access to said tomes is generally heavily restricted, however seeing as you are the Iron Dragons and your papers do all seem in order I do suppose I could grant you access to these tomes.

To Wyaar she says, We have historical texts detailing the saga of Gargul and his twin punishers. You are free to peruse them if you like. Im not sure if we have anything as detailed as what you are looking for because a lot of the chronicles took artistic license at certain points in time. We do have a number of treatises on the bone tower though as it is a really interesting structure that has captured the interest of many Woldians. As far as your cult inquiries go we do have books on cults in general but I dont believe anyone has written anything recently regarding the particular cult you have been having run-ins with. I be more than happy to send for someone to gather the books we have on cults but Im not sure if it would be worth your time. As for your question about a free-willed undead construct the best we can do there is some illustrated childrens books about a being from another world who died was brought back as an undead using powerful magic and merged with a magical suit of armor. The kids really seem to love this one for some reason, I dont get it but I digress...Why dont I have someone show some of you to where we keep the tomes on constructs and others of you can go to where we keep our historical texts on Gargul. Ill send someone to deliver the books on the Bone Tower and cults there as well. Im honestly not sure if we have anything that will satisfy all your inquiries but we will do the best we can.

She rings a bell and a grizzled looking bald dwarf with a red bird appears from a hidden passageway. Quimby, please escort some of the Iron Dragons to the special collections. They are interested in learning what we have about constructs and golems. Take the rest to where we keep the historical texts concerning Woldian Deities specifically Gargul. They are looking for books related specifically to Marteus and Kevintar. Also please dispatch someone to gather any document on the bonetower or cults and deliver them to the historical Deity section.

Quimby bows to the assembled Dragons and starts escorting you down the passage he came from. A short while later you emerge into a wide room with a fireplace and several rows of book shelves. He says, This room houses our historical texts on Woldian Gods. That shelf, that shelf and that shelf pertain to Gargul. Someone will bring you texts concerning the bone tower and cults if some of you will wait here. The rest of you follow me.

Those that decide to look into the construct texts follow Quimby down more passageways zigging and zagging and finally ascending a spiral staircase. Quimby says, We keep our special collection in a place that is hard to get to. Not many people are allowed to view them but if giving you access to the collection would enable you to better save the Wold who are we to keep you from it. He takes a key from his belt and opens a heavy metal door (Appraise 30 Highlight to display spoiler: {The door appears to be a mithral alloy})

Beri digs through the ancient tomes and learns a ton... such as the fact that ancient tomes are hard to decipher. It's as if the scholars went our of their way to make things sound as complex and as hard to decipher as possible. Perhaps they were able to charge more for their books if they sounded complicated. He wonder's briefly where the children's books are that were mentioned. He is glad that Restlin is able to make better use of them then he is.

That's a great idea. It sounds like it shouldn't matter where we enter, so it would be in our best interest to not used the most heavily guarded entrance.

As for Kevintar, I wonder if he was also somehow tricked into thinking Gargul gave him commands... or it could just be that a lifetime of solitary confinement slowly drove him crazy. Can't say I'd blame him.

I guess that just leaves the free-willed undead construct. As far as I know, those illustrated children's books are our best lead, unless you think we'd be able to scry for the construct based on just the general description we have.

Tink doesnt have much luck researching.

Garret sits down and enjoys his jawbreaker.

Wyarr plays errand boy.

Zane quickly gives up and camps next to Garret to keep him out of trouble. Then something Restlin says perks him up and he leaves.

Restlin really shows his research chops and quickly pulls all the important information out of the tomes.

Beri hits the childrens section.

Bosk heads out to get other business done.

Zane flies off looking for Dock. He manages to locate the construct using its rescue cranes to clear debris.

After some chirping from Dock, Zane manages to get the impression that the crystal that made Dock did come from the Crystal Mountain at some point but it was changed somehow. Dock knows it was built but it doesnt know by who. Dock had been minding its business when all heck broke loose and ended up captured and enslaved by the blood grass lich and forced to serve as a power source for the giant castle and escape pod.

Beri rings a bell and Quimby appears, the dwarf says, The illustrated children books? That is an unusual request but follow me.

He leads you back down the twisting and winding corridors into a room filled with pillow chairs and shorter book shelves. I believe the tails of the undead warrior and his magical suit of armor are somewhere over there. the dwarf points.

After some digging Beri finds a couple books of an unusual art style (black ink on white paper with characters who have big eyes with small mouths) depicting the adventures of a character with the strange name of Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man. In the first book of the series Mega Cyber Robo Ninja man was just a normal guy well normal for that world. Apparently people drove around in vehicles reminiscent of dock except with wheels instead of the ability to fly and made from what appears to be metal instead of crystal. He died horribly due to an ambush by organized criminals and was brought back after a fashion using the most unusual magic techniques Beri had ever seen illustrated. He was fitted with what seemed like a magic suit of armor that had further strange procedures done on it and after everything was complete Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man had a magic sword, a small range weapon that could knock people back or damage them like an odd shaped wand and a large range weapon reminescent of Docks armament when it was under the influence of the blood grass lich. The rest of the books detail him teaming up with a gang of people wearing strange hair styles and carrying odd equipment and fighting against other larger constructs. The books dont really list an authors name and it appears they were rebound from whatever their original cover had been.

Restlin doesnt really find much about what dimensions the bone tower may interact with. The problem seems to be that no one really ever wrote about it. Whether it was because their expeditions into the tower lead to their deaths or just because the tower hadnt really been fully explored is hard to say.

There is some speculation in a manuscript by a Bard named Rupert the Mirthful that the dimensions the tower connects to hold some kind of special significance but it doesnt really go into detail about what that significance could be and there was an oral tradition of a prophecy of the significance of the connected worlds being revealed when the timing was right.

Zane hangs out with dock for a bit then heads back looking for a clothing shop along the way.

Beriothian asks more about the childrens book he found.

Tink is annoyed about her lack of success finding out more information. She tags along with Beri to see what he can find out.

Sesha agrees with Restlin

Bosk wonders if the robot man from the childrens story might be a golem.

Wyarr muses more about the golem and its possible sentience.

As the dragons prepare to have a stupidly expensive dinner (OOC: everyone deduct 10 gold per person; more if you are feeling generous as equipment section lists a banquet at 10 gp per person) Restlin thinks long and hard about what possible dimensions the tower could exist in. The problem with other dimensions is they could be as similar to or as different from their current reality as one can imagine. When you had your encounter with the other dimensional orbs pre-Sargrass you noticed most of the worlds you visited were almost alternate versions of your own though some had terrible outcomes.

Zane is able to make his special purchase for Garret (OOC: deduct an additional 2 sp for the cloak)

Quimby looks a little taken aback by Beris question about the origins of the strange book and the rebinding. He says to Beri, Well heres the thing about those books, they were found during the events involving the mist prior to the Sargrass invasion. Its like they came in with the mist, the odd thing is that none of them had covers. Multiple copies too. We managed to secure the ones that were in the best shape and conventionally bind them. The thing is they are just so unique and the kids do seem to love them but weve had mages check and there isnt magic or anything on them so they are safe to read we think. Alchemically the ink and paper seems to be different from the ink and paper we typically use but that shouldnt be a problem. Just seems strange how the world depicted in those tales is so much different than our own. Then again werent the orbs different too? he asks you.

You take in your meal, you have Dock (a sentient free willed construct), some information about Gargul, Marteus, Kevintar, the bone tower, golems and cults and a mission from Gargul to actually go to the bone tower and free Kevintar. While the strange rebound books detailing the adventures of Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man were interesting you dont really know who wrote them. They did turn up recently during the time when the orbs were popping up all over Hook City so it is possible that the books themselves came from another dimension, it would certainly fit with the alchemical oddness noted by examiners but even if the books came from another dimension how could you use that to help you? What do you want to do next?

The dinner finally breaks him out of his daze as the sight and smell of food are enough to distract him from the jawbreaker. He slips it into his pocket, still wet, of course, and smiles at the nice spread of food.

Zane eats his fill, and then says, "So, there is a plan now?"

Sesha isn't much of an eater. She picks over some of the better fruits and vegetables, eats a little raw fish and soup, and saves most of her stomach for dessert.

She decides to wear pearl to dinner, and her dress has a sheen that is opalescent, like the inside of a sea shell.

After dinner, she decides that she has been passive enough in this process.

"I don't think so, not yet. But we shouldn't leave here tonight without one."

Restlin is much smarter than Carl. I'm making a straight INT roll to see if I can piece together all this information into some sort of...idea. Not a whole plan, per say, just trying to figure out if what we've learned may pan out into something, or if we should drop the whole other-dimension line of inquiry and start worrying about sentient constructs more.

Restlin is mostly quiet during dinner as his mind turns. He feels like he may be on the verge of figuring something out. He could be dead wrong about that, but it's worth one final big thinking session.

He does get his gloves back from Garret, though. He gives them a good shake, but trusts in his suit's magic to keep itself clean, even of Garret level mess. He gives a nod to Zane's forethought.

"Tink, you've been awfully quiet tonight. Any bright ideas stewing?"

Beri sits down at the table. At first he thought about something light, but when he realizes they are going to an actual banquet the druid decides to get his moneys worth. He starts of with the rack of lamb, garlic mashed potatoes, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and a nice Bordeaux to round it off.

As he eats he listens to the others discuss what to do next.

Well, as much as I'd prefer to go in with a plan, I fear that Gargul may have put us on a path that forces us to rely on blind faith and luck... so in other words, we are going with our default plan.

He told us we would need to "Go to Bone Tower. Defeat the cult that has already defeated the orcs formerly there. Secure the entrance. Find two free-willed corporeal undead, two free-willed constructs, and one free-willed undead construct who will declare their devotion to me. Also find five hearts, of creatures powerful and potent, hearts of virtue, sin, order, chaos, and balance. Enter the Tower with these allies..."

He also said regarding the plan that we could "disregard or adapt as fate prompts"... I have a hunch he knew we'd try to do things in a more logical order, and phrased it that way so we'd be able to accept that fate is forcing us to secure the tower, and only then find what we need to gather the rest of the requirements. And if we have to deal with the cultists first, my guess is that the cultists are on the same mission. They've probably spent the last few years hunting down the clues we are looking for now, and perhaps even obtained some of the requirements.

Do you think we could enlist the help of another band of orcs in helping over throw the cult? It could help preserve our spells, although then we run the risk of having to then defeat a band of orcs. I think a good starting point is seeing if Dock can recall anything about where he came from and who made him. We should also see if anything else came in through the mist. Agatha might know about that.

Garret is eventually prodded into leaving the jawbreaker alone.

Zane gets Garret a cloak that acts as a bib and wonders aloud if they have a plan.

Sesha tells Zane no, there isnt a plan yet.

Restlin wracks his considerable brains for a plan and a theoretical idea that is hypothetically possible slowly forms in his head. He remembers that Agatha and Sprocket used material from the gate from the Float in order to accomplish something with the first draft of their trans-dimensional device as the gate at the float has a property that allows it to connect to other places. The library seems to think that those Mega Cyber Robo Ninja man books came from some other reality. Mayhaps it is possible to use some or all of those books as a focus to establish some sort of connection to wherever the books came from in a process similar to whatever Agatha did with her prototype. Mayhap those books are some kind of historical narrative? If so actually going to the world where the books came from may allow them to find Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man or something like him. Hes possibly a construct, possibly an undead, possibly both. The procedures in the book done on his corpse and armor were very strange so who is to say what the final results of those odd magicks were? As much as Restlin loathes the Star Mages and Agatha, it might not hurt to at least pick her mind on what he is thinking. Mayhap she and Sprocket can make his vague idea a concrete reality? Mayhap theyll be able to tell the others more about the strange procedures in the book at the very least?

Alternatively Beri rehashes what Gargul wants the party to do and speculates that they may be able to take advantage of any progress the cult had achieved if they go to put an end to their presence in the Bone Tower first.

Wyarr has no ideas to offer.

Bosk suggests they recruit some orcs in the area to help them retake the tower entrance.

Now that everyones eaten, what will you do next?

Garret looks at Zane and says, "What's wrong with spilling food on the floor?"

He looks down at the cape and says, "No matter, more pockets equals more food!" As the banquet appears, he tries out the pockets to see which kinds of food will fit best in them. When the food continues coming, he ignores the pockets and really starts eating...and eating. As Beri mentions the plan and the hearts, Garret mumbles, "Who wants to give up their hearts for this kind of sacrifice? Are we savages?"

Then you can hear a light snoring as Garret leans or falls back in his chair, as he has eaten himself into a solid food coma, a drumstick of some kind still clutched in one hand...

In any case, I do think we should pick Agatha's mind on this. Her and Sprocket are the only two that seem to understand how this stuff actually works. If we go it alone, there is too much that could go wrong. If we were to find ourselves trapped in another dimension, that would be horrible enough, but our failure would mean that pretty much everyone in the Wold would suffer as a result as well.

Besides, I'm fairly confident that Agatha would be willing to put off any messing around with the constructs if we promise to give her sole access to this information. She's more interested in getting publications in the star mages than anything else, and wouldn't jeopardize her chance to be the first sole receiver of this info.

It may even make that whole part of the ritual trivial."

He grabs Sesha's drink and downs it in a gulp, continuing on before she can protest. "Agatha and Sprocket know far more about dimensional doodads than I do, but if any energy from that other dimension exists and they can detect and focus it, we may be able to pay it a visit." Zane repeats what he knows about dock and wonders if its really a good idea to tell her enough that she might try to make her own.

Sesha points out that Agatha is pretty reliable and could probably get them to another dimension, though they might end up as fairies or something.

Wyarr thinks trying to convert some Orcs to the side of good would be a worthwhile endevor.

Tink thinks Wyarrs idea would be tough but is willing to give it a shot. She muses on her dislike of the star mages and hopes they havent/wont cause to big of a mess.

Beri points out the danger of trying the scheme on their own and that Agatha is more interested in publishing things than making things.

Restlin explains his brain storm to the group.

Bosk reconsiders everything thats been found out or discussed up to now.

Wyaar and Tink seem to be keen on trying to give the front door a try after seeing if they can rally some orcs to their cause to retake the entrance.

While others have misgivings about going to Agatha, Restlin, Beri and Sesha think it could ultimately be worth the risk.

The next day when you go where Agatha and Sprocket are working on repairs you find the 2 in the vicinity of Dock though not onboard your new friend. Agatha does seem to have some strange device pointed at the sentient construct from afar and taking some readings.

She nonchalantly puts her device down and tries to play it cool as you walk up to her, Im not taking it apart, Im just getting some readings with regards to the type and strength of magical auras emanating from Dock. The weird thing is the strength and type of auras that construct puts out seems to change based on what it is doing and the color of the large bottom gem that has something to do with its flight capabilities.

Anyway, it seems like you had a reason for coming to me, so what can I help you with?

Restlin further clarifies what theyre after.

Zane talks to Dock.

Beri asks Restlin about permanent spells being recast.

Wyarr smiles politely and looks over the repairs in progress.

Tink also smiles politely but is more suspicious.

Agatha says to Sesha, You know my interests in other dimensions and why I am so interested. A place where Gods are created could also be useful for our end goals. As far as sentient constructs, the concept is certainly fascinating. I have been studying your new friend and it would certainly be a feat to create something like him.

Restlin gets the impression Agathas instrument is a detector not an emitter so it cant interfere with Docks functioning. Tink gets the impression that Agatha is being honest with them.

After hearing of your recent trip to the library she holds up a hand and says, Let me show you something. She claps her hands and Sprocket drags a metal suitcase about the same size as the gnome himself over to where you are. She undoes the latches on the suitcase and opens it up to reveal multiple copies of the strange tale of Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man.

She says, I collected these samples during the orb events pre Sargrass invasion. I thought they might come in handy as the technique used to produce the paper and the ink is alien to me. Honestly I had intended to try to use these to calibrate a potential destination for my portal generator but so much else has kept me away from trying that. I do wonder though if the place where these books came from are the origin of the story itself. Perhaps the denizens of this dimension are spreading the word they received from another dimension elsewhere in the multiverse. I honestly dont know if we can calibrate a gate to get to the dimension to books came from and if we do I dont know if it will be stable enough to go back. It is quite possible that the journey itself is a one way trip, however if you brought the right person and tools along you could probably get to another dimension from the origin dimension of the stories if you absolutely had to thus mitigating the risk of the dimensional trek being one way. Though honestly if you have to keep leap frogging dimensions, not able to go back the way you came Im not quite sure how long it would take you to find another point that intersected with your home dimension. Ill tell you what why dont you give Sprocket and me a day or three with our portal device prototype and the books we collected and see if we cant establish a connection with the source dimension. As I said it might not be possible. If it is is possible well send for you and I and you can follow the trail of these strange stories wherever they lead.

Dock chimes to Zane that it has taken a few breaks and is enjoying the work.

He does let Zane know that Agatha's current contraption doesn't affect Dock in any way, just in case he was concerned.

Agatha says to Sesha, Wyaar and Beri , You may all borrow a copy but we may need all the books to act as a focus, you see we arent aiming at the pictures or anything. she emphasizes to Beri.

She explains, We are using the unique alchemical signature of the paper and ink to attune it to other similar signatures that may be out there. The reason why we used pieces of the Float gate originally was because of a similar attunement.

She says, As for an anchor point in our own dimension we would need to take something with us that is as unique to the Wold as we can find in as much of a quantity as possible. She considers Dock and says, If he is made from Crystal Mountains Crystal he may be able to serve as a focus to get us home, well potentially to the vicinity of the shattered Crystal Mountains but at least the remnants arent too far from here relatively speaking. Unless of course there is some time dilation in which case we could potentially end up in Maabs pocket dimension...that does beg the question could you cross paths with your selves during the events of the Sargrass invasion? If you did could you change the future or in our case the present? What would happen if you didnt rescue Dock or he got destroyed because of something you told your other selves? Paradoxes abound. Hopefully there isnt time dilation as thinking about it just makes my head hurt but of course we are playing around with things that have that kind of potential. We may figure out a way to bring back Janiterri and Serenbeth yet. she says with a twinkle in her eye looking directly at Sesha

I'm not too worried about meeting my past self. If I was going to run into me I already would have the first time I went through those events. Of course, I don't subscribe to the belief that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff. Hmm... let me try that again. I don't believe that it's a single line that erases itself if someone messes with past events, but instead creates an alternate future with a second distinct set of us. In fact, we've already met ourselves in an alternate future... we were pretty nice guys.

Honestly, I think the real danger with messing with the timelines is that you run a high chance of angering several of the gods of the Wold.

Restlin goes to prepare

Garret farts.

Sesha realizes she had almost forgotten the reasons she had joined the Consortium.

Tink goes with Restlin to prepare, but divirts to wander town and talk to the people.

Beri poo poos the risk of running into themselves or messing up time.

Bosk warns they should be careful about returning gods.

Zane wonders why they cant use themselves as a focus to get back.

Wyarr comments that its all rather complicated.

Agatha says to Sesha, Yes well your newest adventure seems like it could hold keys to many questions so keeping an eye out for places where that could happen is prudent.

To Bosk she says, Yes we wouldn't want to have to deal with that mess all over again.

To Zane she says, No for some reason living material cant act as a focus. Material that is nonliving can. Ergo my suggestion of your construct friend as a focus.

To Wyaar she says, Ill consult you if insight into Maab is needed.

To Beri she says, I already said this stuff makes my head hurt. We can debate the philosophical nature of time and space some other time but right now Sprocket and I have work to do. Im not sure if I care if I offend the Gods if Janiterri is able to make her return. She was once one of them and they did nothing when her and her sisters were lost.

When Tink goes to wander off, Garret quickly scampers after her. He has enjoyed the residents of Hook, especially near the tower, and he has come to know many of them. He bounces along, waving and greeting those he knows and introducing himself to those who may not know him yet.

Zane considers other options....He's sure Dock will go with them, but he hates even asking, because the Ship feels like it owes them something.... and trying to explain to the ship that he doesn't would only confuse the situation. He heads back to the tower, and takes Starblazer out for a spin around the City.....

Restlin takes a trip to the catacombs, then sits down to read a really dull book.

Tink slows her pace with Garret now by her side.

"It's good to see things getting back to normal around here" she notes as they make their way through the streets.

Beri agrees with Agatha
I suppose that's true. And as much as I think time should work a certain way, there's no reason the powers of the Wold would necessarily have agreed with that logic when they created it... or even that it needs to work in a consistent manner. I suppose we'll find out soon enough. No matter what, it's bound to be interesting.

Bosk taken a minute to ponder how Serenbeth's return would affect Jancassis given the gods connection.

Wyaar accompanies Restlin to get his own boring books to read

Garret joins Tink in wandering the town.

Zane tries to figure out how to ask Dock to accompany them but isnt sure. He takes Starblazer out while he thinks.

Restlin]/b] hits the catacombs then reads a book.

[b]Tink
comments that its good to see things going back to normal.

Beri muses on the nature of time to Agatha before she leaves.

Bosk wonders how Serenbeths return would affect the other gods.

Wyarr joins Restlin in book reading.

Among the people Garret and Tink greet are some of those the dragons helped with that spat of explosive rune driven terrorism a while back.

Zane tries to think of other alternatives besides bringing Dock with them on their journey, he doesnt want to pressure the construct into going with them as it might feel obligated but isnt not asking it in the first place another form of making a decision for Dock?

Agatha says to Beri, Its funny but I once heard an old curse that went something like May you live in interesting times when translated into common. Makes you wonder who cursed us?

Bosk wonders if Serenbeth or Janiterri came back would they hold a grudge against their surviving sister who lived on when they were lost. He also wonders if Serenbeth or Janiterri came back would they have the power they once had or would they be relegated to immortal power status while Jancassas is still a God in Her own right.

Most of Restlin's preparations for their next big mission require time and solitude. As such, not much is seen of him for several days. He's got a book to read, scrolls to scribe into his spellbook, permanency spells to cast...it's a lot.

Zane, over the days is seen with either Dock or running Starblazer about the city.
He keeps an eye out for possible crew members, you never know where you'll find them..... Heck, who'd think a person like him would ever make a Sailor....

With Restlin reading, Bosk in contemplation, Tink busy, and the others occupied. Sesha sneaks away to Sanctuary with Sister. She refreshes her borrowed spells from her cohort, and takes time to be with her coven.

Beri thanks Agatha for her help.
I guess that leaves me with some of the most fun research I've had to do in a while. We'll bring the books back in the morning, hopefully with some clues about where to find either Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man or the author of these tails. Oh, I probably should have asked this before, but do you know if Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man is one of the good guys? It sounds like it from the name, but who knows how those things work in another dimension.

Garret does tricks for the children.

Restlin does a lot of bookwork.

Zane flies about the city with the two airships keeping his eye out for crewmen.

Sesha goes to see her cohort.

Beri thanks Agatha and wonders if the character in the book is a good guy.

Bosk goes to the WLA.

When Sesha shows up at the coven Yzargo asks, I know you have taken that mage priest as a consort Matron but would you object if I got to know Sister better? Last I checked she was unattached.

Yzargo flirts with Sesha later when she goes to restore her spells, Is there anything else you need from me besides some magic? he asks with a wink.

Agatha says to Beri, Well he was murdered by organized criminals. I think he used his ninja skills to fight crime and they didnt like it. Per the books Whatever strange magic was employed brought him back, gave him strange weapons and armor and he met up with other folks wearing strange outfits and ended up fighting against an evil scientist and his robot army. I think robots must be a type of construct and I guess a scientist is a type of spellcaster we dont have around these parts. I would think he would be considered good unless maybe hes from one of those stories where no one is really good and everyone is just kind of a different shade of grey.

Tink smiles and gives polite applause to Garret's antics. He sure does have a way with kids.

She makes a few 'pew pew' noises for him to act out getting hurt, or at least, demonstrating himself as Garret the Indestructible.
