Xeron AC AC15 HP 7/7
Friday November 27th, 2009 11:35:44 AM

The rush of seeing the poor widow or the brothers tremble in front of the intimidating group quickly evaporates for Xeron. The rogue quickly feels like an evil bully. "I thought being good mean we did not do thing like that."

The rogue will ask the following questions to both groups:

a) Where was the victim body found?
b) Was the merchant on his way or back from meeting someone?
c) Has the merchant started recently to trade new ware or with a new partner?
d) Did the merchant manners changes over the past couple of weeks?
e) Did anyone threaten the merchant recently?
f) Did the merchant do business with the other two deceased?
g) How was the business going?
h) Who will benefit the most from the merchant death?

=================================================================================
I have the character sheet done and need the update the google doc and hopefully publish it properly the first time.
DM: Can you confirm the gold: 884 (first battle) - 100 (Karyn new life gift) + 1000 (Penn) + 125 (Gordo 1000) = 1,909?
I've asked Bosk to handle it first, then I'll confirm his post

Beriothian (Will)-- AC:18/15/13 HP:7/7
Friday November 27th, 2009 11:47:29 AM

Beriothian looks in the door and sees a widow instead of Jae. He immediately relaxes his pose upon and regrets the choice. Next time instead of planning in advance we may want knock on the door and just wing it after we see who we answers.

ooc: is that what you had intended for us to do, go to each location and roll AFTER you describe the scene?
This is what was posted: At the first place, the group finds that the wife of the man who was killed, Mac MacGuiness, is in charge now. She is a thin woman with a kind
face and disposition.

Was that not self-explanatory enough? -- DM JIM

Close Xeron. You also get 1/8 of 289, the gold we found from the Iron Band.

Maikill HP 28/28, AC16
Friday November 27th, 2009 12:48:07 PM

ooc: Does Xeron have any plans on dividing the 1000 gp we got from Penn's rescue. Maikill asked him about it once but didn't get a response. Perhaps he needs to be more forceful in asking?

Xeron AC AC16 HP 13/13
Friday November 27th, 2009 12:51:43 PM

OOC: 289/8 = 36 for 7 of us and 38 from Sanji (For a crooked smile).
For the 1000 from Gordo, Xeron will divide in 8 and give 125 to all.
Xeron Gold: 1,484 + 36 = 1,520.

Maikill HP 28/28, AC16
Friday November 27th, 2009 12:54:19 PM

ooc: I don't think there are 8 of us, there are 7 now and 6 when we rescued Penn. Either dividing by 6 or 7 would be fine.

h) Who will benefit the most from the merchant death?
they both don't know what to say, but hazard a guess that it is they who would benefit the most.

Group Treasurer -- DM JIM
Friday November 27th, 2009 3:51:03 PM

Bosk, are you the company treasurer? Could you please let everyone know how much they've earned, broken down by incident, currently? There is an additional rp bonus for the position of course :)

Valla AC:16/16/12 HP:6/6
Friday November 27th, 2009 4:48:54 PM

Valla doesn't say much, and stands to the back of the group while talking to the groups. He knows his scars usually cause unpleasant looks. If not out-right disgusting ones...

Valla only voiced his single question, one time at each location;

What did they do in their free time?

He says this from the back of the group, in a low, but clearly aduible voice.

DM/Bosk- Is my gold right on my CS?

Questions asked -- DM JIM
Friday November 27th, 2009 7:06:49 PM

What did they do in their free time?

1st victim: "Old Mac liked to read, mainly mystery novels."

2nd victim: "The old man and free time? Whats that? As merchants, we don't get much free time, I guess the best answer would be drinking, yes, drinking and smoking."

Question: Anything special about that puzzle box? Where was it acquired?

Maikill HP 28/28, AC16
Friday November 27th, 2009 9:32:53 PM

Maikill wonders for a minute, then asks:

"What puzzle box? Where it now?"

Bosk (James) AC: 19/11/18 HP 17 of 17 Spells
Friday November 27th, 2009 10:09:47 PM

This took a while...

Valla, you are supposed to have a chart on your character sheet that keeps track of your gold earned and gold spent. Your only has a section that says Currency-1541gp 20sp 11cp

What the group has earned is
10/12/09 1/8 of 289 Gold gotten from Iron Band 36g/1s/2c
10/26/09 1/8 of money from selling Iron Band Loot 884g/16s/11c (originally 775gp)
11/16/09 Payment from Penn 1000gp
11/17/09 Grendle pays 21gp debt to 5 players left 21 gp

I do not have a guide with me to look up the cost of what your purchases have been. Also, I am keeping track of group loot, but not what you bought or when you bought it, so I do not know what you started with and what you purchased since. Just what you owe the group, the group owes you, and group loot.

However, on 10/26/09 you received 710gp 14sp 3cp
This is because Valla still owed 155 (310*.5=155) for the MW Short Sword

This is where it gets confusing. Everyone received 775gp. You payed 155GP meaning everyone else received an additional 22gp 1sp 4cp.

Plus Grendel bought one helm and the breast plate. Therefore everyone received an additional 110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp

End results for 10/26 were:

Valla 620(sword deducted)+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=710gp 14sp 3cp
Grendel=privately informs her that she owes the group 105gp when Penn pays them.
Maikill 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp
Xeron 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp
Bosk 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp
Sanji 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp
Motley 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp
Padre 750+22gp 1sp 4cp+110gp 7sp 1cp + 2gp 8sp 6cp=884gp 16sp 11cp

looks like I made a mistake and shorted everyone but Valla 25gp. Everyone else got 750 instead of 775 initial. my post stated Bosk got it right even if I screwed up :)

I need a drink after this!!!

Answer: Unknown, the books merely show the entry as BFHP-- bought from homeless person. More than likely it was stolen.

On the way back to the Inn, to get some rest, Valla voices his opinion again; Looks like that puzzle box would be a good thing to locate, it may have something to do with the attacks... Otherwise, how do you guys propose to lure or find the brain eater? Hang out in Pigs Alley?

I think we should talk a bit more about this in the morning, I need rest to replinish my spells, as you all saw, without them Im useless...

Click on my name to see my updated character sheet (Not quite complete). The Let me know what you think of the Group Loot section at the very bottom. Does it need to be more specific in regards to what we sold or what a party member has / owes for? Do I need to list who was an active player at the time and got the money, or will that get too cluttered and players should determine it on their own by their starting date?

Looks good, no need to indicate specifics as active, etc..., players should keep their character sheets updated so I can look at the group loot and then see the date on their character sheet to indicate when they received the gold. If there is a discrepancy, the group loot table always takes priority. -- DM Jim

Sunday November 29th, 2009 1:13:14 AM

The tall cleric stands in the back, pondering what he might add to the conversation.
The puzzle box might connect those men, but Beri didn't mention anything about a puzzle box. What ever is doing this must also be opportunistic as well. Still, that box seems to be too much of a coincidence to ignore.
Thank you so much for your help. I apologize if we seem a bit harsh, the thing doing this attacked two of our friends. As you can imagine, we are determined to make sure no one else suffers at the hands of this monster.

After returning to the inn, Bosk will offer to take guard duty the shift before dawn. At dawn, he will meditate for his daily devotion to Gargul. After that is complete, the Cleric will return to bed until morning. (Bosk will sleep in his studded leather armor, and change into his banded mail when he wakes up.)

Beriothian (Will)-- AC:18/15/13 HP:7/7
Sunday November 29th, 2009 10:30:19 AM

Beri notices a few eyes glance over him at the mention of a puzzle box possible being linked to the attacks.

"I haven't seen this puzzle box, and I don't think Maikill has either. Before I mediate tonight I will double check my belongings to make sure I didn't somehow receive it unaware "

ooc: Hmmm, looks like I did misread that last DM post in the beginning, sorry about that.

Valla AC:16/16/12 HP:6/6

My CS is also fully updated, and I was off by 20gp in my "Currency" listing; the 10 for the room and the 10 as a gift/Bribe for Lou...

You may not have seen the box, but you werent killed ethier; you were also attacked during the daylight... Maikill happend across this creature by chance, I assume you did as well... I think it hunted the merchants; not you or Maikill. The box is the only lead we have at the moment; unless we wish to figure out who else smokes and drinks in this muddy town; in which case, we should just start interogating people as they reach the town limits, without smoke or drink one would surely lose their mind in the forsaken place...

The grumpy elf then makes his way back to the inn and to his room/bed to get some rest; not wishing to discuss much more this night, since dawn is soon approaching.

About how big was the puzzle box?
Do you know what the box was made of?
Did it have any notable markings on it?
Did it appear to have moving parts, or pieces that could be rotated? Or did it appear solid?

About how big was the puzzle box?

-- about 6" square

Do you know what the box was made of?

--some sort of wood, maybe mahogany

Did it have any notable markings on it?

--no

Did it appear to have moving parts, or pieces that could be rotated? Or did it appear solid?

--it appeared to be solid.

As for Black Harris' place, it is locked front and back, you won't know if a rogue can get inside until he tries.

Grendel (Jay) AC:15/10/15 HP 13/13

Grendel has nothing of note to question the relatives about. She does make a point to offer her condolences and prayers for the family. If it seems to be of any comfort to them she will assure them that the monster that did this will be tracked down and eliminated.

Grendel attempts to put some of the pieces together. "Old Mac liked to collect oddities, it can be assumed that this puzzle box contained more than he could handle. The fact that it was purchased from a homeless person likely means that it was stolen goods. The only fence we've met since being in this town is our good friend Gordo, maybe we should pay him a friendly visit and see what light he can shine on this situation?"

As the group turns head back to the cold comfort inn, The Horned Cleric speaks to the rogues. so do any if you fancy a tour of his shop? I don't trust the people of this town, and this may be our only chance to find the puzzle box. After all, we are trying to avenge this mans death and save the life of countless innocent people.

Valla AC:16/16/12 HP:6/6
Monday November 30th, 2009 5:00:17 PM

The tired elf offers more of his own advice, I say we come back to this shop during the daylight; sure sneaking in at night would probably offer better security but then again, this is a farily lawless town; so I don't think anyone will confront us about looking around a dead merchants shop. Surly Sanji or Xeron can pick the locks, if not our Horned Friend here can just bust the door down, ethier way, we get inside.

Leaning on his staff he mumbles a bit to himself and then adds, I still think we should rest for the rest of this night, and get on with our investigation in the morning..
