After all 8 people roll stats, I will calculate the average amount of stat points each person has and then adjust individual's stats accordingly so that we all are about on the same page. This way nobody feels any weaker than anyone else. Sound fair?

DM Addison,

I updated my character sheet. I hope Rob doesn't mind, but I kind of used his format. Also, I changed one or two things about Bruagh. First, instead of Iron Will, I took Heirloom Weapon. His Heirloom Weapon will be the Masterwork Dwarven Axe that he created himself. Bruagh also has his personality, appearance, and background posted in his character sheet. I also changed his skills a bit to make it fit his background better. I have 2 ranks in Profession: (Mining) instead of 4 and I put the two extra skill points into Diplomacy. This fits better with him only spending a about a decade apprenticed in the mines while he spent nearly 60 years working as a Smith. The diplomacy also fits in with him trying to talk his way out of confrontation, as Domi would want him to do. Please let me know if I need to change anything.

So it just hit me... on page 171 of the DMG, Gold Dwarfs are stat'd as a playable race. Pretty much the only difference between a Mountain (regular) Dwarf and a Gold Dwarf is that they have +2 Con, -2 Dex as opposed to +2 Con, -2 Cha and they have +1 vs. Abberations as opposed to a +1 vs. Orcs and Goblins. Obviously I mostly am curious because I'm playing a paladin and not losing the 2 Charisma would be very, very nice.

I'm not sure if it's been brought up before, but I had to ask.

Tahni Wyrmrider -- AC11 HP11/11
Tuesday August 31st, 2010 9:17:52 PM

Hi all!

Rob C here. I'll be playing Tahni Wyrmrider, the dwarven cleric/mage. I see her role mainly to be in support - ie: providing buffs and healing - rather than frontline assaults.

Zach - No worries at all about using the same template for your character sheet. I can't remember who I copied it from. To be honest, I found that because it's just a plain text document, it allows you put a lot more detail and notes in where you need to. Good question about the Gold Dwarf too. Once we get a few more people we can also have a chat in terms of a backstory on how our characters came to meet, whether any history overlaps, etc.

Addison - Thanks in advance for DMing this. I say that now, whilst my Mithral Tap character nearly drowned :) Stat averaging sounds good, though I'm not sure how long it will take to recruit up to 8 people. As an fyi, as your ADM, I've started drafting a legacy item over in the Black Genie for Tahni. Its still very much a draft, and I'm relying a lot on Cayzle's expertise to finish it. That being said, I would value your input on it.

Tahni Wyrmrider -- AC11 HP11/11
Wednesday September 1st, 2010 10:47:43 PM

Following on from Zach's question regarding gold dwarves, and perhaps broadening the question a bit more, are we assuming that the entire party consists of the same types of dwarves (hill, mountain, gold, etc) or can it be a mixed group? This would also help me complete my character description and background. Whilst the stats and bonuses are the same, for my background I would like to go with mountain dwarf rather than the standard hill dwarf.

DM Addison
Wednesday September 1st, 2010 11:14:41 PM

Well. Let me run the alternative dwarf stuff by Jerry. I am inclined to say yes. Gold Dwarf paladin sounds sweet.

Zach Ramage
Tuesday September 7th, 2010 12:20:49 PM

That sounds awesome, and I await Jerry's response. I'll shuffle the stats around and adjust my background accordingly when/if we get the green light. If not, I guess it just speaks to the old adage that, "A Dwarf, is a Dwarf, is a Dwarf."

Also, Rob C, would you want to intertwine backgrounds a bit, or keep them the separate.

Tahni Wyrmrider -- AC11 HP11/11
Tuesday September 7th, 2010 10:08:16 PM

Hey Zach,

Problably keep the anciety history separate, but thinking of some reason why we're travelling together. Perhaps something we could write as some recent history to explain how the two met.

For example:
- Tahni was travelling around various dwarven villages, healing war wounds when she met Bruagh. He had just returned from defending xyz and had managed to carry one of the survivors with him to safety. When the survivor is healed, Bruagh mentions his vision to Tahni, she thought it sounded like something she wanted to be a part of

- Both are crafts people. Perhaps after seeing a finely crafted dagger (she likes knives) Tahni tracked Bruagh down to learn from him. On meeting, however, a more pressing matter got their attention and they were called away...

- ???

Again, the dwarven sub-races may influence the background here.

Zach Ramage
Wednesday September 8th, 2010 9:21:38 AM

Rob,

I have to say, I like the second example much better, as although Bruagh is older, he has not "adventured" yet. His vision is what is going to make him a Paladin, otherwise he would just be a Master Craftsman.

Either that, or they could have grown up in the same place and just have a knowledge of each other... eh, I tend to like the crafting idea.

DM Addison
Thursday September 9th, 2010 8:48:58 AM

For Crafting - yeah, if you take a "sub-optimal" skill such as crafting and use it in roleplaying, then there will be incentives and rewards. I will find a way for you to use every skill you put points in, so nothing feels like a waste... its one of the tenants of being a good DM.

Zach Ramage
Thursday September 9th, 2010 3:50:27 PM

Awesome... thanks Addison!

Question, how long does it typically take to get all eight people in a game and organized and ready to play?

No rush, just curious. I got nothing but time lol.

Tahni Wyrmrider -- AC11 HP11/11
Thursday September 9th, 2010 10:11:27 PM

As any fyi Zach, I'm hoping to get a Tapestry module up and running in the interim, with spots reserved for yourself and Jonathon :) Just waiting for it to be signed off.

Zach Ramage
Friday September 10th, 2010 4:18:29 AM

Awesome! Do Taps run with the typical 8 people, or fewer. Do you run with the same character or create a new one?

Tahni Wyrmrider -- AC11 HP11/11
Saturday September 11th, 2010 12:30:59 AM

Taps are generally for completely separate characters, and usually run with between 6 and 8 people. I'll post more about it in the GG and LnB when its time to start :)

Rob C on Dwarven SubClasses
Sunday September 12th, 2010 8:15:29 PM

Jerry has ruled that only Hill Dwarves are playable in the Wold. No Gold or Mountain dwarves allowed as playable.

Zach Ramage
Sunday September 12th, 2010 9:36:44 PM

Ah well, had to ask. Thanks for the update. You know, its funny, only things I really wish I could change about my character... is have more skill points lol.

DM Addison
Wednesday September 15th, 2010 2:46:57 AM

Well, Jerry has the final word on things like that, sorry guys. I would have liked to see a Gold Dwarf played for once actually. Could have been fun, like you coulda treated the Hill Dwarves as if they were slower red-neck distant cousins or something... just an idea.

Oh. And about the stats on the characters. Expect a few small changes. I will average everyone's stats and see who is the lowest and give him/her a little boost so we are all on the same page more or less.

Archie
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 12:40:31 PM

Hi everyone. Am the new guy on the block so thought I would drop in and say hello.

First of all, am thinking just a straight Dwarf Warrior. Nothing fancy.
Im old and forgetful. What level are our characters?
Once I know that answer I will get it set up.
Also, went to the Loot and Booty as requested and made my rolls.
Roll Stats=13, 12, 11, 14, 13, 15

Was told I might receive a tweak or two, so will wait on them as well before putting my warrior together.

DM Addison
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 3:40:41 PM

Ok guys, I have an awesome announcement.

Since the website will be converting to Pathfinder pretty much around November, the DMs agreed that it would be beneficial to just begin this game with the Pathfinder rules.

We are starting at level 1
200gold
You get a Free handy Haversack, which cannot be sold or traded for anything else.
Dwarves are as they are in the Pathfinder rule book: +2con, +2wis, -2cha, with all the other cool dwarf stuff.
Any class is accepted, but PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT SOME RULES AND THUS CHARACTERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
What I mean is, they have not completely adapted the Wold to the Pathfinder rules, so some things may/will be changed.
For example, I know that you will need special permission to play a Dragon-blooded sorcerer, there are also a few other special situations that will be taken on a case-by-case basis.

SO, have fun making your characters!

Archie - Those rolls kinda suck. Lets tweak them here. Take taht 11 and make it into a 18 and there ya go. Stats are 13, 12, 18, 14, 13, 15. Sound good? And yeah, fighter sounds like a winner! But don't be afraid to get creative with your character. I want you to define his purpose for being so willing to adventure, come up with some personality traits, describe him through his actions.

So far we got:

Zach - Paladin

Rob C- Pure Cleric of Alemi

Archie - Fighter

Need some arcane and a rogue and were good.

Rob C
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 9:06:24 PM

Thanks Addison! A couple of things:

- Was Jonathon Stout also in this game?
- Yay for Handy Haversacks!!!
- Are we starting with any Traits?
- Just found this in the Pathfinder SRD: "You can never have more ranks in a skill than your total number of Hit Dice." Guess that means all our skills can have 1 rank max. Big change to 3.5!

Zach Ramage
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 9:34:26 PM

This rocks... formatting to Pathfinder.

And yes you only have 1 rank at first level, but if it is a class skill you get a bonus of +3... so it evens out!!!

Rob C
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 10:23:08 PM

Hmm... the number of starting skill points has also been downgraded. This should be fun :)

Rob C
Tuesday September 21st, 2010 11:59:19 PM

and having been completely rude, I forgot our newcomer ... welcome Archie :)

If you need a hand with anything at all, just let me know! Everyone in this game is relatively new, so don't be afraid to ask questions.

Is there a place on the web that is like sdr20.com for it?

Yes, those stats are much nicer. Thank you.

DM Addison  d20+4=15 d20+7=21
Wednesday September 22nd, 2010 11:42:19 AM

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

Thats the content website. Some things are user-generated and approved by the Pathfinder team online, but are not printed in books. There are signs on these pages that say whether it is core or not. If it says "Third Party Material", then we are not using it. We are only using core stuff that is printed in the PHB.

Basically, the changes in Pathfinder is that every class is more powerful and has more options, skills are condensed and the amount of points are different at creation.

The new NEW guy, James Rosse should be posting here soon with his character ideas.

On Skills: Yeah, in pathfinder, at level 1, you get your class skills + int modifier. So a Ranger with 14 int gets 6+2=8 and can only put a max of 1 into each skill. For every skill that is a class skill, it gets a +3 bonus. So, fo example, his Knowledge Nature will be 1rank+3class skill+2int=6... unless they get a bonus from class abilities. Like the Rogue gets +1/2 rogue level to Perception pertaining to traps. Rangers get +1/2 level to survival pertaining to tracking etc.

The reason this was done was to make sure everyone could use a skill if enough ranks are put into it, but the correct class can always do it just a bit better (about +3 +1/2class better)

Posting guidelines for my game.

1) I want everyone, when they type something out of character to put it at the top of the post like this:

(OOC:Hey, my character is a little goofy, don't get offended by him.)

2) When your character speaks, I want you to BOLD the words by putting [ b ] and [ /b ] around them (minus the space), like this:

Zeph shouts, "I see those goblins sneaking around the back!"

3) When your character thinks, I want you to italicize with [ i] and [ /i] around them. Like this:

Zeph wonders, If they are going to attack us, then why did they send such a small amount of troops?... Oh no, the civilians!

4) Put your Character Sheet link, AC, Touch AC, Flat-footed AC, your CMD, HP, and any active spells in your header. Check out my character on The Uncharted Lands/Heroes page for guidance.

5) When you roll skill checks, post them at the bottom, above the spells, like this:

Survival = 15
Perception = 21

You can also opt to post the skill result while describing the action, like this:

Zeph, with hawk-like vision, focuses his eyes and spots the floating red orb in the distance (perception = 21).

6) Put spells for the day at the bottom of each post.

I'll think of more stuff later.
One last thing to consider: COME UP WITH A CLAN HISTORY AND STORY FOR YOURSELF. If you guys are as heroic as I hope, then your clan name may go down in Wold History.

Archie
Wednesday September 22nd, 2010 4:27:34 PM

Gonna give you a heads up.
My warrior will have a normal name, but, when introduced, the group will be told he's not quite fully there, and that everyone just calls him frootloop. gives you a hint on how I plan on playing him.

DM Addison
Wednesday September 22nd, 2010 7:21:01 PM

Archie - sounds good for a personality.
But remember that fighters have more formal military training and tend towards lawful. If you truly want to be crazy... consider Barbarian? Or maybe a Ranger that has little sentient-social abilities.

I'm just trying to get some variety in our classes because it seems that our supposed 4th, Jim, will want to play a fighter-type as well.

Also, keep in mind that these games are scheduled to be played for several years so please develop a character that has many layers... like an onion... that you can explore and not get bored with.

Rob C
Thursday September 23rd, 2010 12:45:10 AM

A barbarian dwarf would be insane - in a great way :)

Thanks for the update Addison. Any thoughts on whether we are allowed a trait or two as part of character creation?

DM Addison: Traits. So far as I know, they will now be allowed. If so, they will be tweaked and balanced for the Wold. Agent of Dusk is definitely not going to be allowed from what it seems.

Archie
Thursday September 23rd, 2010 10:40:09 AM

ok. never played the barbarian class before so would be an experience.
I think now about the drizzt series those battleragers of bruenors'

Yes, a dwarven battlerager (barbarian) who is affectionately known as Frootloop.
Dallon Darkbeard for his given name.

DM Addison
Thursday September 23rd, 2010 2:02:17 PM

This is how you put a link on the site, copy and paste this, then remove my http:// and put in yours. and remove the space in between [ and link .

[ link href="http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfrfhm2n_37dmp7wcd4"]Zeph[/link] AC22 HP 42/42

With no space, it looks like this: Zeph AC22 HP 42/42

And always keep that in your header. The site will save it there for you.

And Archie - make sure you give everyone permission to view your character sheet on google docs by clicking the "publish to the world" button... or something like that.

Keep in mind the Multiclass system that is in Pathfinder.

Basically, every race (except half-elves, they can have two) can chose any one class to be their "Favored Class". When you take a level in this favored class, you can either gain one extra hit point or one extra skill point- your choice. But once the choice is made, you get that one point every level and it cannot be changed.

Tahni AC14/11/13 HP 11/11
Sunday September 26th, 2010 11:16:07 PM

Hey Addison, do we have a planned start date or are we waiting on party numbers? Thanks.

DM Addison
Monday September 27th, 2010 1:22:03 PM

As of now, we only have 4 people who have posted on the board besides myself. So, protocol states that we wait until we have between 7 and 9.

In the mean time, please make sure you read every rule that you plan on employing with your characters in game. Know how the CMB and CMD system works, because enemies will be taking advantage of your weak points.

Hawk -Two Paladins? Do note that Wisdom is a dump stat for Paladins, as it is not used for anything besides Will saves and a few skills. The +2wis bonus that dwarves get could be used to make an awesome monk though. Also, don't throw out multiclass possibilities. I wanted to make a Druid/Monk that specializes in unarmed damage for a long time. I'm pretty sure that the Monk unarmed bonus would upgrade claw damage from dire bear form right?

But more importantly, don't focus on the combat abilities too much. This game is a LONG commitment and you need to play a CHARACTER, not a character sheet. Know what I'm saying? Fall in love with your toon a bit, make him part of you, etc.

In the meantime, lets get IN CHARACTER
Make all OOC post in Parentheses

The setting: As you would suspect of a group of dwarves, you are in a tavern, drinking ale if you like, if not, then tasting some mutton stew.

The location is next to a river, on one side, where the Inn resides, there is a great green field that extends to the southern, more inhabitable parts of the Peninsula. But, across the bridge to the other side of the riverbank is The Scab- a desolate wasteland of hard red cracked earth and active volcanoes... and it is rich with Ithorium, Adamantium, and Mithril veins, waiting to be exploited.

But The Scab holds many threats to any civilized people that would try to inhabit it. The current denizens are monsters of the Giant and Goblinkin - but much is still unknown.

In the Tavern, you see a large number of Gnomes about, all friendly and talking about all things that Gnomes talk about- money, inventions, potions, farming, explosions, etc.

You are shown to a table, and at this table are 7 (hopefully) other Dwarves.

Please describe yourself and say something. This may last a while as we await more players... so get creative. Feel free to roll knowledge checks too.

FrootLoopAC16, HP20

Sitting down at the table, this dwarf gruffly takes up his flagon of ale. Then, without adieu, he tils the flagon, draining every drop. Then, reaching into the mug with his finger, he gets the few remaining, and licks his finger hungrily. Turning to the bar he orders another.

Slamming the flagon on to the table, he then takes his seat. >>>>Burping LOUDly<<<<

Bruagh Stormbringer AC 20, HP13

Bruagh eyes the large, loud dwarf seated next to him as he hungrily eats his mutton stew.

Wonder if the Adamantium and Mithril veins are as rich as they say. Ahh, what I'd give to get my hands on about 200lbs of Pure Adamantium... Bruagh stops day dreaming and continues eating, this being the first warm meal he has had since the last tavern some three days back, Bruagh is nearly finished with his first plate before he realizes how rude he has been to the other patrons. "Pleasure to meet you Froot Loop, me names Bruagh. Seem to me you are a traveler here as well. Where might you be headed?"

Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11
Monday September 27th, 2010 8:34:31 PM

OOC: Addison - If we need some arcane skills, I'm not opposed to rolling Tahni to a wizard. Like I said, I plan on multiclassing, so it makes no difference to me if she starts as a cleric or wizard.

A younger, female dwarf joins the table. She is familiar with Bruagh, having spent some time with him, studying his ways with a forge. The dwarf sitting next to him though she has not seen before.

"Greetings friends" she says as she sits down "It's good to see you again Bruagh. Staying out of trouble I trust?" . She stops to look at the uncouth dwarf seated next to Bruagh. "Forgive me. I am Tahni of the clan Wyrmrider. I don't believe I've seen you here before."

Tahni takes the bowl of mutton stew placed before her, and eats the vegetables floating amongst the chunks of meat. Once finished, she pushes her bowl away from her - the meat still in the bowl. "Mother would be pleased" she thinks to herself. Raising a slender arm towards the bar staff, she signals for a bottle of wine to be brought to the table.

DM Addison
Tuesday September 28th, 2010 1:44:19 AM

Zach - don't forget that Dwarves get a +2 to wisdom too in Pathfinder - even though its a dump stat for Pallies in pathfinder because casting is based on Charisma. And here is my character sheet for my Pathfinder Paladin that I played in a Tapestry game a couple of times:

Arthur 6

Level 13 Arthur 13

Though I lucked out and rolled some beast stats on that guy. The DM would have downgraded me probably... but Tapestry games are kinda just for fun anyways to test out new material.

Rob - no need to swap unless you want to. Doesn't make a difference to me. I'm sure that at least one of our next 4 players will play a wizzy or sorc... though sorc seems kinda unlikely. Besides, that burst heal of channel energy might come in handy. ;) Mystic Theurge is solid though. Especially when its likely the party may be short on one type of casting.

Archie - Remember that any ranks in class skills grants an automatic +3 to that skill. It's juicy stuff. And using a 2-handed weapon gives 1.5 times your strength in damage, so it would be 3. And it goes up as your strength goes up from rage. Also, remember that each level in Barbarian can give you 1HP or 1skill point, your choice if it is your favored class... which it would be silly for you to not chose it to be.

I like the way this is going though. I just pray for some diversity in classes and characters to make things really interesting.

Really, I was hoping to see someone play a "Caver" type ranger that uses either a Dwarven Urgosh or an awesome repeating crossbow... with poison arrows.

Or a Druid that rides a Wholly Rhinoceros into battle.

Or a Monk who wears shackles and swore he would never use his fist again so he fights with his head and feet only.

Just a few of my ideas.

Bruagh Stormbringer AC 20, HP13
Tuesday September 28th, 2010 6:31:21 AM

OOC: DM Addison, honestly I would gladly stat Bruagh as a Ranger as opposed to Paladin. Things will stay mostly the same. He would still be a master craftsman, a devout follower of Domi, and would use dwarven axe and handaxe while two weapon fighting. The extra skill points would be nice. Addison: It's completely up to you. Don't worry about stats and what the party needs unless it gets silly (like 3 paladins or something). Just worry more about what you see your character as.

"Ah, Tahni, the lovely Tahni, pleasure to see you again." Bruagh smiles warmly at the young lass. It was obvious to anyone who cared to notice that Bruagh thought highly of Tahni. Bruagh truly appreciated her youthful thirst for knowledge. "Me, trouble? Of course not, but thanks for asking. Not a fan of mutton Tahni?

Bruagh Stormbringer AC 20, HP13
Tuesday September 28th, 2010 4:11:36 PM

OOC: DM Addison, my stats were adjusted...

STR 15
DEX 13
CON 16
INT 12
WIS 13
CHA 15

So that's what I ended up with after racial adjustments. Nothing too fancy but no glaring imperfections. What I'd give for another point of Charisma. Or better yet Charisma and Strength lol.

Addison: Like I said, don't worry too much. I know what the primary stat of each class is. I will add up everyone's stats and bring everyone UP to the person with the highest, allowing you to chose where points go. We just need to get our 4 more people asap. You and Tahni have 84 points total. Frootloop has 87. Count on having as many as whoever rolls the highest. So go ahead and add 3 points wherever Rob C and Zach. And I know you are aching to take a few points away from wisdom and redistribute them... I will think about this one, but don't count on it (b/c if I let you, I have to let everyone, then we will get some serious max-mining). But Cha can't go above 16 mind you. It's ok, you will be fine.

Basically, the DMs have been kicking around the idea of getting rid of the Stat Rolling system. This is because we want players' decisions to shape them, not random rolls. Some people roll low, others roll high. The low ones always feel sub-par in the end, and that is NOT fun. I support the initiative, but other DMs oppose it... so don't be surprised of my stat adjustments get hammered by the powers that be (but they probably wont care too much).

Also... don't discount ranged attacks in Pathfinder. The damage may be less, but don't forget that to get a full attack in melee, you have to move up to the enemy first... and then pray they feel like not moving. 20foot dwarven speed hurts in that respect. The Step-Up feat helps too.

OOC: Stats updated to total 87. Thanks DM!

Tahni smiles politely back to Bruagh "Not a fan of meat, to be completly honest. Mother is a healer, and as part of that, doesn't eat meat herself. And being the cook in the household, the rest of the family just had to follow along. That doesn't stop my father from devouring an entire hog, given half the chance though!" She chuckles at the thought. "No, I learnt a lot from my mother, and try and respect her beliefs where possible"

With a bottle of wine now at the table, Tahni takes her share and eases back on her chair. "Ah dear. I hear these parts are rich with ore of all kinds. No doubt you have heard the same. Tell me, if you had the time and resources, what would you create should a nugget of adamantium fall into your lap?" She sips at the dark red wine, anxious to hear what her master craftsman friend would forge.

Addison: At least you didnt pump it all into wis to a 20. That's what I woulda done. ;) Thanks for not taking advantage. Maybe I will make the rule that you can only put 1point into each stat through adjustments like this. That way the rolls still have some meaning.
Tahni/RobC: Agreed. Pumping it all into one stat then disadvantages those that rolled above avg stats to begin with. Granted, Tahni's stats still have some min/maxing to them, but I stayed away from going too nuts with it!

OOC: What's this about stats adjusted to total 87? So confused.

Bruagh chuckles at Tahni's question. "Now that would depend on how bit of a nugget fell in me lap. Aye, If given half a chance I'd love to forge a suit of plate male, strong as the mountain from which it comes." Bruagh goes quiet for a few moments, obviously contemplating his craft. "And yes, I have heard the same. If this land holds even a fraction of the precious metal it is said too... it could truly help unite our people. Give us a common goal. If of course, we can temper our greed."

DM Addison: go ahead and add 1 to Bruagh's str, dex, and cha. Now you have even stats and are equal with Frootloop

Tahni watches Frootloop carefully. It's possible he if suffering from some sort of mental illness, or perhaps he has just headbutted one too many trolls. Either way, it's best just to keep an eye on him for the time being. A means to aid him may reveal itself in the future.

She signals to one of the wait staff, and as the young waitress arrives, Tahni whispers something in her ear and hands her a few pieces of silver.

"Uniting the clans would indeed be a great goal, and a terrific feat if achieved. Alas, the riches that could unite us have more a tendancy to divide us. I suspect it may take more than gold to make us one again" she replies solemnly to Bruagh.

The waitress soon returns with a wooden plate covered with breads, cheeses and fruit. Tahni takes a few pieces, then pushes the plate forward to the table - offering it to the rest of the group.

Tahni tops up her mug with some more wine, before offering the bottle to her colleagues.

"May our purses be as full as our stomachs!" she toasts

"If the past is any indication of the future, I'd say you are right about that Tahni. But it is still something nice to envision." Bruagh looks to FrootLoop as he returns with a drink. "Ah, I appreciate the gesture friend, but 'm afraid I swore of drinking many years ago. Cheers none the less though!" Bruagh raises his glass of warm apple cider left from his meal along in toast with Tahni and FrootLoop.

"So how did you earn the name FrootLoop? And do you have another name?" Bruagh eyes the large dwarf expectantly, hoping he's not being rude.

DM Addison

So, you sit and exchange pleasantries.

When Tahni orders the cheese and bread, two people walk up to the table.

The first is a Half-Orc woman with slinder form and pale green skin. Her hair is brown, and if you can get past the slightly jutting teeth, she has a very feminine face. She moves to stroke Braugh's beard and says, "Hail mighty armored dwarf. Y'know, if you were going to rent a room for the night, I would certainly be obliged to share it with you." with a soothing and tranquil voice.

The second is a Halfling woman with blond curly hair. Without asking, she grabs a piece of cheese and bread and pops it in her mouth. She speaks with a disgusting English cokney accent "Alloooo then. Whuts all the ruckus 'ere? Good food and drink aye?" she says.

OOC: Tahni - whats the powers of your legacy item circlet? And Braugh, that axe is your legacy item right?

Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11

Tahni tries hard not to roll her eyes at the half-orc woman's advances to Bruagh. "She is just doing what she must to earn a living" the young dwarf reminds herself.

The rudeness of the halfling does not go unnoticed, and while it does bother Tahni, she elects not to make an issue of it - for the time being anyway. "Yes, the food is quite good. Would you to join us? My travelling companion here" she says gesturing to Braugh "was just commenting on what a unique accent you have." Tahni grins, and gives a friendly wink to Bruagh - keen to see how he will handle the situation.

OOC: DM, For lvl 1, the circlet is just a holy item that Tahni will use as the focus for her clerical spells. In terms of other powers, I'm having a bit of difficulty getting any response from the powers-that-be in the Black Genie. You know I was sitting here thinking to myself, that has to be a Hook City accent. Am I right? And my lady, while I would certain it would be a pleasant experience, what sharing a room with you and all, I'ms afraid what little coin I have will be stretched thin as it is... However, don't fret, me friend Tahni here, I'm sure she wouldn't mind sharing her room with the both of ya's, being the generous and GIVING sort that she is." Bruagh smiles and winks back at Tahni, hoping to see her squirm in her seat a bit. "Besides, she is much more attractive than someone such as meself, Don't you both agree? Oh and have the two of you met my handsome, friend here? FrootLoop, there are two lovely, ladies here who can't wait to meet you."

OOC: Not a Legacy weapon, but yes, the Masterwork Dwarven Axe was crafted by Bruagh and is his Heirloom Weapon. Also, Bruagh's Character sheet has been updated to reflect that stat adjustments. Thanks Addison, you rock. All that's left is to buy Mundane gear, which I will get to this weekend.

Tahni too is surprised by Frootloops response to the women. Firstly because of his language skills. Having seen his table manners and the few words he had spoken to date, she had wrongfully assumed he was an uneducated, brutish barbarian. Secondly, for the manner in which he has dismissed the women. "He is direct" she notes to herself. "Still, they know this landscape better than we do. And no doubt they know more patrons here than we do too."

"Now, now, there is more than enough food and drink to go around." she says with a placating look to both Frootloop and the ladies. "Perhaps you can share some information with us. You see, we have heard tales of the riches to be found in the Scab, and will soon be venturing there."

Now, we could take this up with the inn keeper which would cause a scene, or I could tell my friends who would likely want to resolve this discussion outside. I dont think we are allowed by the powers that be to actually do the module, but we can do some stuff for fun and I will grant rewards to your characters for your participation.

IC:

Tahni's words are taken with quite a large grain of salt... and the little Halfling lady feels a buzz in her stomach when touched by you that makes her feel... uneasy.

The blonde halfling chick says in response, "I shall do with my earnings what I will and no cleric shall tell me otherwise." and she spits a bit when she says the word Cleric.

She walks off with her half-orcish companion if nothing else is said.

Then, another disturbance is heard... an argument... shouting even. At the poker table?

You look over and you see the scene: Several fat humans are playing a rousing game of Three Dragon Ante (the official DnD cardgame if you didnt know). One large man in particular is shouting at a Gnome with an eyepatch: "I don't trust little people, and now I know why! You're cheating! The green dragon card forces me to give you 5gold or an evil dragon of lesser power. How is it that all the powers of your green dragon are below 5? That leaves me with no choice BUT to give you gold. I think you are changing the numbers on the cards there buddy."

The Gnome retorts: "Well, I'm surprised that a man of your stature can count to begin with. But since you are as intelligent as you are unsavory and fat, I shall indulge you to kindly suck my big toe, as I have never cheated before in my life."

The fat human says back, "Then, let us exchange words outside, less we get your blood on the establishment floor?"

The Gnome fires back, "Establishment? Big word to match your big gut. I wonder if your viscera will pop out like gutting a doe?"

Then, the Fat Human screams in pain and a splash is heard under the table. Further inspection shows that there is a large quantity of blood on the floor beneath the table.

The Fat Human falls over on the table, spilling cards and gold everywhere. The other humans start to scoop up the gold and run away.

But the eye-patched Gnome looks shocked that this happened.

But that doesn't stop two more humans from drawing longswords and walking towards the Gnome with a deadly intent.

Do as you will.

Braugh - your sense motive tells you little you don't already know. They were arguing, then when insults and threats were slung, blood hit the floor and he fell like a lump. But your diplomacy does stay the two Longsword-wielding men from attacking the Eye-Patched Gnome. Your eyes flash (whatever color you want) and you search the Gnome's soul for evil but find nothing of the sort.

Tahni - you manage to stabilize the man. He is not dying, but his face is pale and several of his innards still hang out his open gut. Your perception check does pick something up... the shadows beneath the table and the men's feet are moving oddly.

Frootloop is attending at the ready.

One armed man speaks up, "Well, you better get to the bottom of this, because this clown owed us money and we can't collect from a corpse... or can we?" he says, eying the body as Tahni heals the poor fat bloody man.

The Gnome looks at Braugh "I've done nothing, I swear it! Let me go and let me get out of here before they try to skin me alive!"

Then the other man speaks up, "I think these short folk are banning together and trying to play us for fools. I say we kill them all and loot the corpses."

The other man looks to agree, but no sword is swung yet... they wait for the moment.

(Braugh- sorry to make you roll intimidate though its not your forte. The idea is to keep Diplomacy linked to peaceful, intimidate to "ill smash you" and bluff to outright lies. So, it could be argued that about half your words were diplomacy and half intimidate. Always argue with me if you think you have a valid point, but roll incase I rule you wrong. This is good for training.)

Braugh's words do not exactly strike fear in their hearts, and one man replies, "Well, if we get out money, I don't care if its from you, the Gnome, or this guy's corpse. But rest assured that there will be four less short people in attendance if we don't get it within 5minutes."

Braugh can see evil in one of the men's souls. A quick scan about the room with his Detect Evil shows that a good half-dozen of the tavern's patrons are of similar persuasion, their souls glowing a dull ember red.

Tahni thinks about the shadow that moved and her mind goes to things religious and arcane. Her knowledge on the subject from a religious view is limited (9), but she does know that creatures of darkness that fear the light do exist in the far corners of the world.
Arcane on the other hand, Tahni can easily tell that a Shadow Conjuration or a similar spell could animate such a thing to happen. But that would take a wizard of at least 5th level or so. Could there be one in the tavern?
A quick look about (i'll use the same 17 perception roll) says that there are several hooded figures with spell components on their belts... so that is a strong possibility.

And then Frootloop does the unthinkable! He throws alcohol on the floor. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING!?!?!??!! Even in the Wold, that is a SIN

Like, seriously, wtf. Just because you don't drink Tahni, doesn't mean you hafta go instructing people to throw away drink. Jeeze, you get negative hero point for that, and you too Frootloop for going along with it. What kinda dwarf does that?

Anyways, as Frootloop throws the ale (cant believe I wrote that), the Shadow comes to life in front of you all! It is about 6feet tall and has red glowing eyes.

It pops up in disgust, sending the empty mug flying, though the liquid passes right through it.

It looks about in confusion...

and then poof, a small portal opens up to the Plane of Shadow and it happily takes the ride home, leaving the Tavern and its nasty light behind.

The humans and patrons are dumbfounded.

OOC: Tahni mourns the loss of a hero point, but considers new ways to dumbfound a DM :)

Tahni is as surprised as the rest of the tavern as the shadow reveals itself. She had mistakenly assumed someone was hiding under the table, or perhaps the gnome had an accomplice with an invisibility spell. "But a shadow creature in a tavern?" she ponders the possibility. Tahni eyes the crowd, paying particular attention to those she identified with visible spell pouches, to see if any of them do not appear to be surprised by the preceedings.

She climbs down from the table. "Is there somewhere where this man can rest and recover?" she says to the bar staff. "Though stable, he has been badly wounded by that creature and requires rest"

She then turns to her colleagues and in a much lower tone of voice speaks to them in dwarven. "Nice toss with the ale, Frootloop. That creature was likely brought here by dark magic. If I'm not mistaken, it was a creature from the realm of shadows. There are several people here who look to have spell components with them. We should be wary who we speak to, and who we may upset" she directs her last few words in Frootloops direction. "That being said, as I'm sure you'd agree, there are easier and less public ways to kill a man. Whoever did this did not expect for the creature to be discovered. We must consider the possibility that either someone wanted to send a very clear message by killing this man, or wanted to frame that gnome over there."

She raises the tone of her voice and speaks again in common "Let's get you another pitcher of ale my dear Frootloop" .

DM Addison: See, now that's a good reason for another Perception check. Re-specifying your search helps. Searching particularly at faces to judge expressions will include a Sense Motive roll too. It's good were getting down to specifics.

So, roll perception and sense motive and lets see what happens. And maybe a bluff at the end. "Lets get you more beer." Nice cover, yea right. Fun huh?

Rockin.

Then, as Tahni orders a beer and all the audience has their eyes fixated on the odd dwarves who decided to personally take on a quest to solve this tavern dispute...

something happens

A chair is thrown

And then a fight breaks out. Everyone is brawling. Fist being thrown, grappling, tables turned over, the whole shibang. Its chaos.

FrootLoop - You look to see what bastard through that because they deserve to be hit.

Braugh - one of the humans holding a long sword in front of you looks oddly. His eyes go blank like he is staring into nothing... and his sword hand lifts . He hits Flat footed AC 15. THat prolly doesnt hit huh? If it does its 5 damage. 4 of it is necrotic and feels like slimy goo when the sword hits up against your armor.

Tahni - you keep a keen eye out for anyone looking suspicious as the madness goes on.

And thus, she is the one who notices a man who runs out the back door.

The One-Eyed Gnome pulls out a one-handed crossbow and shoots it at the man who attacked Braugh. A crossbow bolt shoots awry and hits the ceiling.

What do you do?

Also, when I looked into his eyes with my detect evil, did I detect evil, or just nothing period? I want to be certain. Regardless, it won't matter too much as Bruagh has to defend himself whether from an evil person or a possessed person.

Having hoped to avoid combat, but being prepared nonetheless, Bruagh swings mightily with his Dwarven Waraxe, the weapon he crafted with his own hands, as the empty husk of a man who struck him. "Domiiiiiii!!!" Bruagh screams as the axe head swings through the air.

"Stop that man!" Tahni calls out, pointing in the direction of the suspicious character fleeing the scene. Her attention is brought back to the group, as she hears the human's attack on Bruagh. Something about the man seems off, however. She tries to place it. Knowledge Arcana: 16 "He is not himself! Try not to kill him" the cleric calls.

Drawing her dagger, Tahni attempts to distract the man, and thereby aid Bruagh, who appears wounded. "Hey, big nose!" she taunts the man "Yeah you, you perfumed, blouse wearing, elf kisser!". Aid another in combat vs DC10: 17. Success. Bruagh gains +2 to AC against the man's next attack

Additional post to keep things moving fast.

Braugh's attack connects with the man's clavicle, snapping the bone in half and digging into his rib cage. The force of Braugh's axe brings the man down in a bloody heap. He is around -2 HP and bleeding to death now.

A quick look around reveals to Tahni that it is quite possible for this man and about Half the tavern to be under a Compulsion/ Enchantment effect.

There is chaos in the tavern, as chairs are thrown, weapons are drawn by a few (though most are grappling), tables are destroyed, and many many punches are thrown.

You can see a Dwarf clad only in trousers with a large grey beard knocking humans out left and right with his fist and forehead... and then gently laying them down in a corner.

Then, the other human who wanted money from the Eviscreated man draws his sword and swings at Tahni. Hit AC 7. Tahni draws her weapon in time and deflects the attempted blow.

The human screams, "I don't know whats going on, but you started this!" as he raises his sword arm for another swipe.

Braugh tries running in the direction that the suspicious looking man went. He left out a side door.

Then, Tahni does something kinda interesting.

She lets loose a burst healing that is powerful enough to give everyone enough HP to get back up. Almost the entire bar is healed fully.

Several of the humans are dumbfounded. One elf patron is swimming in a barrel of ale on a counter top.

When you looked last, about half the patrons seemed to have blank stairs in their eyes and were attacking randomly.

The fighting begins almost immediately.

Frootlooop starts bashing the skull of several brawlers. He begins by smashing a chair over one, and then a large Half-Orc charges Frootloop and attempts to start a grapple! Hitting CMD 15. Your CMD is Like AC for combat maneuvers like sunder, trip, grapple, bull rush. Its calculated by 10+str bonus+dex bonus+BAB+ any feat modifiers.

If 15 exceeds that total score (which it doesnt, I think your rocking at a 10+1bab+4str+2dex or something) then you are grappled.

Since it missed, you get an AOOO on the half-orc who tried to initiate the grapple.

Also, did Tahni's Arcana knowledge check (a 16 on Oct 20th) provide any further details to why the patrons do not seem to be acting themselves?

Tahni continues to the side door, hoping to catch up with the man. Whether he is just a wise patron escaping the trouble, or the person behind all this confusion remains to be seen.

She leaves the rest of the patrons to fend for themselves against the raging Frootloop.

FrootLoop's Adventure

Frootloop knocks a Half-Orc wrestler unconcious with a table leg and plunges his fist into the face of a man, knocking him into a barrel of ale, spilling drink all over the floor.

Yet another crime has happened.

The Shirtless Dwarf runs to Frootloop and says, "Focus your anger! Do not injure them. ANd drink some more." HIs beard is old and gray and so are his eyes. He is clearly a wise man.

THen the Dwarf grabs a Half-Elf Bard as it was playing a song, and persists to grapple the guy! He does a Judo throw with a kick to the man's knee, and sweeps him off his feet. THen he puts the bard into a leg-lock submission hold, making the man squeel in pain.

"Who were you working for?" the Shirtless Dwarf asks the bard.

As the Bard stops playing, many of the people seem to snap out of their illusion.

THen, the Blonde Halfling chick from before comes from behind the barrel of ale and stabs Frootloop with a dagger! HIt AC 12 for 11 damage and DC 12 Fort save or be poisoned.

She looks intent to kill.

Where did the fleeing man go?
Where did those dwarven guards come from?
Where did those rampaging orcs come from?

The dwarven guards look outnumbered by the orcs, and unless the orcs are stopped, the tavern could soon be overrun.

"Have at them men! Let Alemi fill you with courage!" Tahni calls out to her dwarven brethren. Clasping her hands together, she utters a small prayer to her god. Cast Bless. Braugh sees the orcs and charges forward. He prays to Domi, but it musta not been heard because the Bow-Wielding Orc uses his bow to deflect the axe. The aura around Braugh is a nice golden hue and his axe shines white with holyness.

Tahni prays to a different god- Alemi. The burst bless spell bolsters the dwarven guards and Braugh alike. The guards all shout a battle cry of "Courage!" as Tahni finishes her prayer, and raise their axes to the sky.

Frootloop, after being stabbed in the chest and fending off poison from the blade, takes his table leg and rears back like a pro baseball player. He delivers his skull-crushing blow to the halfling woman's head.. and there is a definite snap heard from her neck when the force drives home... or maybe it was her skull cracking. You will probably never know. But there is blood on the side of the keg.

She hits the ground and is not moving.

You can plainly hear Tahni shout "Orcs" from outside the tavern

The guards charge the Orcs as one, crashing into them with shield and axe. One guard topples an orc Archer completely over with his rush. Only two hit: AC 23 and 23 for 10 and 4 damage. One orc archer is on the ground, bleeding to death.

The two Orc Warriors seem to be intimidating indeed. They both wield wicked looking falshions and foam seems to be erupting from their mouths. Their blades bat at the shields of the dwarves, almost knocking the shorter opponents over with each swing.

One Orc Warrior scores a critical hit on a Dwarven guard (AC 25 and 26) for 19 damage. Cleaving the poor armor-clad muscular man's arm off. He falls, screaming in pain and bleeding to death quickly.

Then the Orc Archers go. The one that Braugh engaged (2) draws a crudely made handaxe from his belt, ready to defend himself. He takes a swipe at Braugh, which is batted aside easily by the well-trained Paladin of Domi (hit AC 5)

The other Orc Archer is engaged with a guard and makes a similar attempt.

A sickly scream and a splash of crimson red draws Tahni's attention to her right. One of the dwarves has collapsed to the ground, blood flowing freely from his gaping shoulder wound, his severed arm lying nearby. It would be a noble death - to die in combat at the hands of ones most hated foe - but the young cleric cannot stand idly by.

Tahni steadies her will, before advancing towards the dying man. She extends a slender hand towards the helpless dwarf, and using her divine gift, stabilizes him.

Braugh swings his mighty hand-crafted dwarven axe, and as he does so, the Orc Archer deflects the blow, hooks his handaxe end over the haft of Braugh's blade, and delivers a swift elbow and knee to Braugh's forearm, making him drop the blade.

Critical failure rings in Braugh's ears. His axe is on the ground next to him, its a move action to pick it up and it provokes Attacks of Opportunity from the 2 Orcs around you now. But drawing a weapon does NOT provoke AOO, so you got a spare there?

Don't worry though, cool stuff happens when you get criticals too.

Then, an orc in the back drops his bow and moves to attempt to flank Braugh. He can't quite get there (only 30move), but you can sense he will be there next time.
Both of the Archers start beating on Braugh with their Handaxes. Luckily your armor is thick and your shield is broad. You can feel their anger as the powerful blows knock you about, but do not pierce your defenses (Miss AC 12 and 8) even though your unarmed.

Tahni sees the Dwarven soldier bleeding to death on the ground and runs to his aid. She places a hand on his arm stub and the blood stops flowing. His face relaxes and it seems he may go into a coma, which might be restorative for his recovery (making fort saves to get hp back slowly). Lucky Dwarves are so tough.

The life of a combat medic is cruel though. The raging orc lifts his Falchion high and swings down mightily for his Attack of Opportunity (Shoulda rolled concentration to cast defensively). Luckily, Tahni remembers what training in combat she did learn and steps to the side just as the blade slices deep into the earth (Miss AC 10, lucky there). He looks at you with a devilish grin.

Then the Orc attacks for his turn. He rips the sword out of the ground and slams the blade into Tahni's side (Hit AC 17) for 9 damage. Your blood spills upon the blade and he slides it out of you in the most painful and slow way he can, sensing a kill.

The Orc speaks in broken common, "D'ya know Dwarves are our race's favor'd enemy too? Hatred go both way." His yellow eyes show some mad hatred.

Boomy is a trained grappler that studied several arts in his younger days. It may be his age or maybe Half-Elves just give him the willys. The Bard gives Boomy a hard elbow to the nose, crunching it and making it a bit bloody.

The Bard slips lose, takes a half-step back and draws a Rapier from his belt, brandishing it like a Fencer. He says, "I'm just a pawn in this, I was paid some coin to Enchant some of the patrons. That's it, I swear" Sense Motive DC 11 to reveal some stuff.

Frootloop spreads blood on his face and runs through the crowd like a linebacker, knocking people's beer all over his flesh... which makes him more angry. He grabs his GreatAxe and runs outside to see the battle rage. Before him, Tahni is being struck by a Falshion of a raging orc and Braugh is being slowly flanked and disarmed.

Though its a shame you can't see the map, its pretty. You don't have google docs? I made it public on web.

Then the dwarven guards attack again, their axes and shields clang upon their foes and Falchion/handaxe deflecting. The battle is ferocious indeed.

The Dwarf facing the Raging orc that is not attacking Tahni gives the Orc a slam to the face with his shield, granting a combat advantage. The Dwarv's axe strikes home (Hit AC 18), slicing deep into the green flesh(10damage!), blood spews on the ground and the orc takes a quick knee, the axe is stuck deep in his chest as the dwarf holds it. The green skin is not down though, he spits blood in the Dwarf's eye, temporarily blinding him and then stabs the Falchion (hit AC 27, crit confirmed with 24 for 13 damage) into the dwarf's own sternum. They are in a deadlock, each holding on to the weapon inserted into his enemy. They stair down with grinding bloody teeth.

The other dwarves fair with mixed result. An orc archer takes 6 damage from one well-placed axe as two dwarves decide to gang up on an archer as two archers gang up on Braugh.

One of these two shouts to Braugh, Hold in there, this one shall be dead soon and then our fury will rain together!"

Epic stuff guys.

OOC: Tahni had moved to L28 (refer previous post), rather than the J28 she seems to be in now. That is, she planned to move to the bottom, diagonal left of the fallen dwarf, and kept about 10ft between her and the nearest orc. Moving to L28 would not have occured an Attack of Opportunity, and if the orc does move to attack Tahni, my understanding is that he would then draw an Attack of Opportunity from Dwarf Soldier 2, so would most likely have left her alone and continued battling with the nearest warrior. Can you please advise before I make my next post? Thanks! Oh, and kudos for the good, lengthy post for the battle :)

DM Addison: Lengthy posts are not better than accurate posts. I guess I missed the L28 part. Well, the Orc is on J30 and your on L28, and the rules state that a Medium creature can stand and fight on the space where another medium creature is unconscious. So, the orc can 5-foot hop on top of the fallen dwarf, attack you, and not incur an AOO from Dwarf Soldier 2.

Unless I'm wrong about standing over dead bodies. And on the plus side, now the Orc is flanked by you and the Dwarven Soldier.

The orcs wicked blade slices deep into Tahni's side, the air expels from her lungs in the form of a painful scream. Though she stands on her feet, the wound may yet prove fatal.

The orc who dealt it still stands over Tahni, his blade would seem no match for her simple dagger. Frootloop appears to have come to her rescue - yet again.

Tahni takes a step backwards, away from the orc, and prays to Alemi for protection. Cast Sanctuary on self. Duration 1 round. Anyone wishing to attack Tahni must succeed on a Will Save vs DC15 first

Assuming that since she is 5ft away, she provokes no Attack of Opportunity while casting, so no concentration check is needed. Also, out of curiosity, what time of day are we at?

I'll usually give a player a day or two to post before skipping their turn.

DM post will come shortly now that Braugh is in. Man, really, what's up with your rolls? I have some cool ideas as for what it would look like to kill an enemy by smiting their evil souls as well as their body.

Also, feel free to give me descriptions of how you fight for flavor. Feints, kicks, spits, throwing dirt, headbutts, relentless assault at one area of the enemy so they lower defenses on another.
These details will be read, add flavor, and can result in bonuses to your damage or to-hit. Casters can do the same with their spells.

Or can result in hero points... but those are reserved for heroic decisions. Speaking of which, the definition of heroic changes from character to character. And don't forget, martyrdom isn't always heroic... but sometimes is.

(Oh, BTW, Frootloop: your handerchief is magically in your pocket. Keep it for a dire situation.;)

And its mid-day. Summer, a bit hot with a cool breeze from the east.

Frootloop rushes the Orc that sliced his blade into Tahni. The mad Barbarian swings wide and his axe bites earth. The orc is surprised, now being surrounded by three dwarves.

Your next attack is met with a strong parry that sends sparks flying through the air as the blades clash together.

When you speak to the Orc, it seems he does not understand the language.
Knowledge Nature or Dungeoneering DC 14: Highlight to display spoiler: {Most orcs are only taught Orcish, Goblin, and Common if they have the intelligence to even learn three languages.}

But he speaks back in Common, " Where do these short bearded ones keep coming from? It's like they just spring up out of the ground or something."

The other Orcs laugh at the joke.

Then, the Orc attacks Frootloop in an equally mad fury, slicing at his hands on the haft of his axe, delivering a swift kick to Frootloop's stomach and then when Frootloop grabs his midsection, the orc plunges his sword into your backside. You see it protrude through your chest below you. (Hit AC 17 for 10 damage. Down to 2 man! Better finish this)

The Dwarven soldier flanking the orc with Frootloop and Tahni swings at the orc, only to hit thin air (hit AC 6, nat 1)

Boomy is tied up with his own problems at the bar.

Your sense motive and intuition of being a wise old man tells you that his young half-elf is definately lying. He knows more than he is telling you.

The Bard replies back, "I know nothing and your a smelly old man that should already be in the dirt!" he shouts as he tries to Feint (bluff dc 22, but your previous sense motive beat it. =)

As you approach he swipes his rapier at you in defense, but you just lean back and step forward every time he swipes like the matrix and you grab his wrist and begin grappling. He struggles against your grip, but you got his shirt and wrist.

When grappling you can do damage as a monk btw, and he will have to do a CMB attack and try to beat your CMD before he can do a damn thing. Sometimes making movement and actions difficult for your enemy is the best option.

Tahni, after some decision, hops back and claps her hands together, creating a golden forcefield around her. The orc rolls 7 on will save and thus cannot attack.

He swings his sword, only to be deflected by the golden hue.

Braugh whips out a spare Warhammer and starts swinging it at the Orc he is attempting to smite. (Shouldnt your attack be 1BAB+3Str+3cha from smiting = 7?) Smiting in Pathfinder lasts until one of you is dead or the battle ends. And you get +3cha bonus to AC vs the orc your smiting too.

Unfortunately, the orcs are very good at defending themselves and deflect each of your attacks.

Then the two orcs attack you Braugh again. Beating on your shield and armor. One hits AC 21 for 3 damage, slicing into your calf sending pain jolts up your spine.

The Dwarven guards fair well this round. The two that were ganging up on a lone Orc Archer manage to slice him juuuuuust enough so that the green man hits the ground at 0 hp.

The Dwarven Guard and Berzerker Orc are locked in a deathgrip. They rip their own blade out of the other and swing at the same time. The Dwarf is quicker though and his axe buries itself into the skull of the raging Orc, making the blade in his hand jolt and go limp.

The Dwarf is on his knees as his foe falls. He is down 13 hp and is barely able to keep himself together. Yet, he grabs his axe and lifts it from the carcas, and begins marching towards the Raging Orc that is slowly killing the party, he speaks and his red beard shakes with anger, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

Boomy grabs the young half-elf and headbutts him in the chest. THe force sends shockwaves throughout his body that hold him stunned. The damage cracks his rib cage and he lets out a woooof of air.

Boomy's stunning fist is a Headbutt btw. ;)

Frootloop slings his GreatAxe around his head in several deadly arcs. You break through the orc's defenses and slice into his bare chest. The orc soaks in the damage and grinns at Frootloop.

Then, the Orc counter-attacks. Kicking at Frootloop and countering his rage with his own. THe Orc's falchion strikes true, piercing yet again into the sternum of the dwarf. Hit AC 21 for 9 damage. Frootloop's at -7 HP and unconcsious.

But, even as the orc's blade stabs Frootloop, the Dwarven Guard behind the Orc takes advantage of the distraction and slices the Orc's leg in twain (hit AC21 for 6 damage). It collapses on the ground, bleeding out.

Tahni casts Protection from Evil on herself. WHich confuses me, you are already in the protective bubble of Sanctuary and the only orc around you failed his will save. Woulda done better to cast Prot from Evil on Frootloop. Or lose the spell in exchange for Cure Light WOunds.

Braugh after fighting these two Orc Archers for 3 rounds, finally hits some flesh with his warhammer. THe white light blinks as he smites evil and smacks the Orc's skull, cracking jawbone. The orc still stands and counter attack with his brother next to him. They hit AC 23 and 16, one hits for 6 damage.

The other two dwarves attack the Orc that Braugh softened up and take its head off with their axes.

The last Orc Archer stands there after attacking Braugh and watching his brother get decapitated.

He tries to run away but the Dwarven guards tackle him.

Battle one has ended.

Tahni at 2hp
Frootloop at -7 and bleeding out.
Braugh at 4

Five Orcs are bleeding out on the ground. One dwarf on the ground with no arm, but stable. One dwarf bleeding heavily and three more in relatively good shape.

The one that was in the strugle with the other Raging Orc walks up to Tahni and Frootloop and speaks in Dwarven, "We must heal him and rest in the tavern, perhaps you can shed some light and we can do the same for you."

Tahni sees her fallen comrade and rushes to Bruagh as fast as her wounded body allows. Dropping to her knees by his side, she extends her blood covered hand across the brow of the mighty dwarf, and utters a prayer to Alemi to save her dying friend. Cast Stabilize . Though she has only known him a short while, tears begin to flow from her eyes, as the stress and andrenaline of her first battle wash over her. As Bruagh's breathing steadies, she takes a moment to catch her breath.

Tahni lifts her head, wipes away some tears with the back of her dirty hand, and speaks to the dwarven group "I will do what I can to heal the wounded, but my gift does not discriminate between good and evil. The orcs - if alive - will receive the same healing as everyone else. I suggest making sure none of them rise again." There is a hardness to her voice that wasn't there before. She looks towards Frootloop, his face covered in blood that is not his, his eyes still seemingly wild "Are you ok to take care of that? I should get Bruagh inside to rest and heal"

The Dwarf with the red beard that was struggling with the Raging Orc in a death battle seems to be the leader.

He commands the other guards to move all the unconscious orcs into a pile, far away from Tahni.

He says, "We know how a Cleric's healing abilities work. Please, we shall stand around you and you can grace us with Alemi's power. If it were not for your blessings, the battle may not have turned out favorably. You have our gratitude." he says as he removes his breastplate, revealing the nasty wound that the Orcish Rager gave to him.

The other Dwarves grab their heavily injured friend, the one that Tahni narowly saved from the grips of death. They hoist him up and walk into the tavern.

One Soldier grabs the tied and subdued Orc Archer for questioning.

Inside the tavern, Boomy has subdued a Bard that was enchanting half the tavern and telling them to fight, with a powerful song.

Once safely inside the tavern, Tahni takes a position between Frootloop and the injured dwarven soldier (the two most critically wounded in her view) and bows her head. Making a heal check in terms of visually inspecting wounded people in the tavern. Not to heal them, just to understand if any of the wounds are more serious than others: 25. The 2nd roll is a check to provide Long Term Care (8hrs) to Frootloop when the chance arrives. DC15: 16 = success. Phew!

Tahni continues tending to the wounded, but makes a stop at the bar first before returning to Frootloops side.

"This my friend" she says placing a flagon of ale beside him "is for saving me from the human. This - " she says softly, placing a large mutton leg next to the ale "- is for saving me from that wretched orc. And this - " she says with a mock angry jab to his shoulder "is for almost getting yourself killed you daft git! It's a good thing your hide is as thick as your head, or you'd be dining with Domi tonight!". The cleric leans forward and takes hold of Frootloops hand with a smile. "It seems your village's loss is our gain. Rest now, brother" With that, she releases the older dwarf's hand, and leaves him to his grub.

Tahni then goes to check on the seriously wounded dwarven soldier."Rest brother. My name is Tahni Wyrmrider, of the Wyrmrider clan. You have been in a battle, in which you fought bravely against our most hated enemy. Alas, you have been wounded, and I fear it may be some time before you return to the battlefield. The day was won, and your comrades are all here with you. If there is anything you need to be more comfortable, please let me know" With that, she places her hand on the injured dwarf's forehead. Assuming he will be in one of the following states from the loss of his limb (dazed, fatigued, shaken, sickened, or staggered) , so will use a Restorative Touch to ease it

Finding the man in charge of the dwarven soldiers, Tahni approaches him. "Blessings brother. My name is Tahni Wyrmrider, of the Wyrmrider clan. Your man..." she says gesturing the the injured dwarf "is stable, and healing well, though the loss of limb will no doubt pain his mind for some time to come. If any of your men are particularly close to him, I believe it would be beneficial for them to speak to him". She then reverts her attention back to the commander. "We're fortunate you came by when you did, else this tavern and all inside it would be orc fodder. I do hope that wound doesn't pain you too much?" she asks him, referring to the gash on his chest.

"Tahni, seems many men owe you, and Alemi, for saving their life. Good job friend, good job."

Speaking to the leader of the Dwarven band Bruagh begins, "Not sure where you came from, or why your here, but your timing be impeccable. What brings you here friend?"

Tahni herds the entire group of Dwarves into the bar. They quickly and gruffly inform the Barkeep that the Riddleforge Tavern will be occupied and used as a temporary triage.

The Barkeep is not happy when the armless dwarf is plopped on the table. He moans in pain and spills blood all over the floor.

Boomy hog-ties the Half-Elf bard (yeah, escape artist works for me) while he is stunned, keeping him for questioning. He searches the man, finding a Rapier, 2 daggers, a light crossbow with 20bolts, a chain shirt, a vial of green liquid (Alchemy to identify), a Fiddle, and exactly 97gold pieces.

It takes at least 2 minutes to take 20 on an action, and since your Stunning Fist only stuns for one round, you gotta work quickly. 21 is your roll.

Some of the Dwarven Guards that walked in, holding an Orcish prisoner, notice Boomy looting the man and question: "Why do you empty his pockets and disarm him? Do you intend to rob a man after a tavern brawl? Such dishonor."

They look a bit angry. They hold an orc between them, also bound in much the same hog-tie that Boomy got the Bard in.

Then, Tahni unleashes her channel positive energy ability all over the place. Good vibrations hit everyone's wounds and the whole crowd mellows out a bit.

The Bard that Boomy was holding wakes up as he is healed and looks around scared. The stunning effect only lasts 1 round. He tries to get out of the rope, and rolls a nat 1 for a total of 8! See, thats the fun of rolling and not taking 20s. ;)

He sees the Dwarven guards and immediately begins talking. "This guy just assaults me out of no where and starts robbing me! Help, you're teh law around here. Arrest this crazy old Dwarf!" Bluff DC 25. Guards rolled 14 sense motive. Fail. They believe him.

Frootloop receives the healing just in time as he begins to slip into death's door. He can even hear the trumpets of the Chaotic Good gods of the Wold calling him to the afterlife.

But he pops up and immediately asks for beer. Tahni starts handing Frootloop beer and speaks to him before walking over to talk to the de-armed Dwarf.

Perception DC 21(forgot +2 for something on this toon's character sheet) Highlight to display spoiler: {The Halfling woman that tried to kill Frootloop wakes up as well and immediately begins creeping towards a window}

The Leader of the Dwarves feels the healing wave and his chest wound closes up considerably. It is still a deep gash though. He thanks Tahni and says to Braugh, "I am Roger Redforge, captain of the Guard of Riddleport. We are here on a mission to secure the tavern and bridge area. As you know, this bridge is the last working one between the Kingdom of New Elenna and The Scab. Though most in the world would see this bridge destroyed in some vain attempt to keep the evils of the Scab away, those of us that settled RiddlePort knew that the Ellenian peninsula is too small for all the Wold's populace. Besides, the Scab is rich with volcanic activity, and thus minerals for mine and export. Now you see the bridge's worth? This tavern is the only refuge between Riddleforge and the southern civilized areas. Holding the Bridge and the Tavern is vital to our survival."

Then, he places something on the table in front of Braugh. It's a hand-axe. The very same that the Orcish Archers were wielding. As a matter of fact, it has YOUR blood on it.

"Look at it." Roger says. It has geometric pattern with a strong, sturdy ash hilt and the trumpet of the blade is thick and focused to a fine blade. "It's made of Adamantium. Made... by a Dwarf. We recently uncovered a cache of hundreds of weapons such as these. Wielded by Orcs. Where are such weapons coming from and why are these creatures holding so many? We have been investigating for months now and have nothing."

Here is a Map of the area.

Aye, the bard is skilled at telling half-truths, but there is a room full of wittnesses that this man is part of something larger. He enchanted the patrons and they were only freed of his spell after I hit him. They will tell you that there was magic about, but there is more. After the bard knew he was beat he said "I'm just a pawn in this, I was paid some coin to Enchant some of the patrons. That's it, I swear." The others heard it.

I tied him up so he could be questioned. I wouldn't rob a man, and to say I would do such a thing in front of so many wittnesses insults both my honor and my intelligence. I just didn't want him pulling any more tricks. Certainly you find it a bit odd that a bar fight breaks out as orcs attack.

Perception Check: 10, Diplomacy Check: 8. Ouch. Hopefully there's some gratitude in the room from the healing!

Tahni whistles as the adamantium axe is placed on the table. She longs to obtain some of the raw materials, though now is not the time to make such requests. "Hundreds of adamantium weapons? There must be a rich vein nearby. But to have that many orcs in between is certainly an obstacle" she muses to herself. "If things are as dire as they seem Captain, perhaps some seasoned travellers such as ourselves may be able to assist? We are, after all, able to venture places that an army may not be permitted to."

Though the bard is restrained for now, Tahni still does not trust him. "Captain, though we were outside fighting the battle with you, the events that occured prior have been accurately described by this man. The tavern was indeed under the control of some spell, and this man did aid us. Rather than let a guilty party go, perhaps holding both he and the bard in this room until the matter is resolved would be wise? And if I might suggest, keeping his instrument away from him for the time being? At least, until the situation is clearly understood. On another matter, you didn't happen to see a man fleeing the bar prior to the battle? You see, in addition to the orcs, and the tavern being under some form of mind control, there was also what we believe to be an attempted assassination of the gnome over there." Tahni then nods in the direction of the orcish prisoner "Has he provided any useful information? If there is anything we can do to assist with an interrogation, please let me know."

Frootloop slides off the table, and grabbing a chair, positions himself between her and the window she sees as her escape. Chair at the ready to strike.

Bruagh is truly disturbed by the words of the good Captain. "Captain Redforge, might I inspect this weapon?" Bruagh takes the hand-axe, wipes his blood from it, and begins inspecting it. He tries to determine the value (6) but isn't certain. Boomy and Tahni claim that the bard man was casting a spell to enchant the bar to fight.

One of the dwarven guards with a black beard looks around at some of the patrons and says, "Orc attacks happen often where we come from. Almost daily. Still, its important to get to the bottom of this. Well. Was anyone under a spell?" he speaks, the last sentence addressing the entire room.

There are approximately 25 people in the room, including the dwarven guards and heroes. A few patrons with black eyes and bruises mumble something that sounds like, "Well... I don't really rememeber much of the last hour or so"

"An assassination attempt on a gnome? Wow, some crazy stuff went down in this bar."

You look around and see that the Gnome is vanished... (waiting Jerry's approval to allow Troy to play as a Gnome. Maybe, maybe not. I works with his character concept. Would anyone be against allowing a Gnome to represent?

Also, Boomy, the character sheet is yours to do with what you want if you wanna join the game permanently. I'll give ya editing privliges and you can change class or stay same or whatev. )

But the guards get the idea something is up. The bard persists, "I know nothing.

Braugh looks at the HandAxe and compares it to his own. He is a very good craftsman for his experience (how you got +9 to your Craft Weaponsmith. +2int +3class skill +1rank = 6 eh? Did you get feat Skill focus craft?)

Nonetheless, Braugh sees that the axe is very well made. And the metal is a dark, almost black ironish ore that is sturdy. You pluck it and feel the vibration. The blade is similar to yours when comparing width of blade to trumpet. But the curve of the slicing edge is different. Your is rounded, while theirs is composed of three straight lines, making the axe more like a razor blade with 3 edges instead of an effective place-your-haft-here mechanism that your blade is made for.

Then, you look at the handle and below the leather-bound hilt, there is the bolt that binds the blade to the haft. The bolt has an insignia. It looks like this Duergar Symbol.

Oh snap!

Then FrootLoop sees the Halfing woman and points her out. He stands, grabbing a chair.

Captain Redforge says, "It appears that we need to hire an entire guard unit for this tavern alone. I'm going to stake this place out until we can get some defensive walls up."

Then he stands and grabs his Dwarven Axe and begins walking to the Blond Halfling, "You are under arrest for assisting in the robbery of the RiddlePort treasury Tiffany." He points his axe at her.

She looks completely stunned. She draws her short-sword and rushes at Frootloop, seeing that he is already injured. She stabs and misses, hiting AC 11. MISS! "You couldn't just let me go huh?' she says and spits at you.

"My friends I can say, the orcs aren't getting their blades from any Dwarf. These blades used to spill Dwarven blood have the mark of an enemy as bad as any Orc. These blades are forged by the bloody Duergar.!"

As the halfling woman moves and attacks FrootLoop, Bruagh lunges to cleave the wench in twain but misses much as he had before. Fyi - Bruagh and the guards should still be under the effect of a bless spell for one more round (i think)
Also, Bruagh, the +2 to craft for metals/stone for dwarves was in the 3.5 rules and has (unfortunately) been removed from Pathfinder. We still get +2 to Appraise for them though, which is the appropriate skill if you want to ascertain the axe's worth

Tahni had no idea the halfing woman was still here. What's more she - Tiffany - seems well known to the guards.

"Keep an eye on that song weaver!" she calls out to Boomy. Though the older dwarf may be unable to join in on this battle, the last thing needed now was for the dwarven guards to fall under the bards control. Tahni had seen the dwarf fight - he subdued patrons rather than kill them, and seemed to be on the parties side. And he is a dwarf. That was enough for her to trust him for the time being.

Tahni considers her own options. She is yet to gain a more detailed understanding of the divine arts, so is unable to provide Frootloop with any healing or protection. Moving in closer would only prevent the guards from arresting/attacking the halfling, and provoking the halfling could see her turn and strike out at Tahni.

A small smile appears on Tahni's face as an idea comes to her mind. Targetting the area above the halflings head, Tahni calls forth some water. Clean, pure, cold, wet water. Cast Create water above the halflings head. 2 gallons/16pnds of water. Hoping to at least distract the halfling, maybe even improve the odds of her fumbling her weapon

ooc First gnomes, then elves, then whoknowswhat, I thought this was a dwarf game. I normally wouldn't quip about this but if the game is new, and its a game set for dwarves, why can't everyone be a dwarf? Is it because they feel they need to be different? You can be different and yet be the same race. I was just looking forward to playing an all dwarf game.

DM Addison: To answer your inquiries. There will be no elves. The reason Jerry allowed a Gnome was simply because Gnomes are a part of the Scab's culture. Not as much as dwarves, as you will find out, but they are still out there. The reason is not because anyone wanted to be different, but they just wanted to represent another aspect of the Scab.

You will see, the scab is an interesting place.

But again, it's all up to Jonathan Stout. Troy is going to be a Dwarf, so until I hear from Jonathan, its still an all-dwarf game.

Dwarves are typically tolerant of other races but rarely have true friendship with only Dwarves and occasionally Gnomes mostly because it typically takes dwarves 40 to 50 years to have a "true" friendship with someone else. Boomy's concerns are more focused on the bard that he captured and preventing that person form getting away from interrogation.

Surprisingly, just as Boomy thinks that his hands-on approach wouldn't be appreciated, one Dwarven guard grabs the Half-Elf bard by the hair and slams his face on a splintering wooden table. He screams in pain.

The guard says, "Tahni, Braugh, and the old monk dwarf claim you were in on this deal. Tell the truth and you may keep your ears." the guard says as he presses the blade of his axe to the Bard's ear, pinning it hard against the table and drawing some blood from the cuticle.

He shouts, "Ugh, don't cut my ear off. Then I lose Perception skills and I get a %failure chance on spells!"

The Gnome (who is swapping ownership currently), wonders whether he was the target of a botched assassination attempt or an attempted framing.

Roger RedForge is visibly frustrated at the Halfing woman getting away. He points to two guards and then points outside. They run outside to attempt to find the halfling woman.

Then the Bard speaks up, "Look, all I know was this guy in a dark cloak gave me 100gold to sing a song that befuddles half the bar. I think he wanted a distraction to escape. I don't know who it was, that's it!"

A dozen counts of Illegal Use of Mind Control, probably the same number of Assault via Mind Control, significant property damage, resisting arrest, and worst of all attempted murder. I doubt there is enough information that could completely excuse the gravity of your crimes. That being said, I am not here to act as judge over your crimes, and you are not my prisoner. You are the prisoner of Captain Redforge - and of course, this man with his axe pressed against your head - and right now you do not have many people on your side. So here is my deal - tell me all that you know, speaking truthfully, omitting nothing, and I swear to mighty Alemi that if what you tell me is indeed useful, I will do what I can to ensure that it is taken into account before you are sentenced. Tie her up good, friend, lest the next time I will use the sharp end of my axe.
And thinking on that, he walks over to the area where he dropped and retrieves his weapon. Carries it back into the inn to the table where his belongings are and leans said axe against his armor and pack.

Holding his side, he eases himself into a chair and gives the innkeeper the international symbol for beer.

Frootloop closes his eyes, until the beer arrives, then drains a flagon before taking it easy.

The Bard looks at Braugh and Tahni and shrugs, "And if I say nothing, will the justice system truly treat me any worse? Your word means little. My deal stands. Release me and I'll tell ya what ya need to know."

He stairs, waiting for your response. Sorry, diplomacy checks werent high enough to get the results you guys want. And roll a sense motive when you ask questions to see if the answer is a lie or not. One sense motive per conversation works though so if you already rolled it, then just repost it at the bottom.

After Frootloop knocks out the Blonde Halfling, Boomy ties her in much the same knot he tied the Bard.

Frootloop goes back to the bar, grabs his axe, and asks for beer. The barkeep gives willingly flagons of ale to the dwarf to aid in his recovery.

Frootloop may be a beer-powered dwarven killing machine before this adventure is done.

Boomy drags in the bound and unconscious Halfling woman and plops her face-down on the table much like the Bard is.

Captain Roger RedForge looks at Braugh and Tahni, "I give you permission to take his deal or not. If you refuse, then feel free to leave him in our custody here. This is now our post. The truth is, you guys should be following up on this Adamantine Duergar weapon deal if you want to be the most helpful. I ask that you report to my uncle, Rupert Redforge at RiddlePort and tell him what we found here. Cross the bridge and its a 4-day walk directly west across the coastline to reach. We just made the trot, its not so bad. Horses seem to be in short supply right now, so foot is the best mode of transportation that we have at our disposal."

He says, waiting for your response.

"I'll not cut a deal with this fellow, he's had his chance. He was informed of my terms, and chose not to accept them. He can face the consequences. I only ask Captain, that you make sure this man sees justice." Bruagh completely ignores the bard now, having decided that he can do nothing more and in the grand scheme of things isn't as important as finding out about the weapons.

"Captain, I'll head your word and will set forth to find the source of these weapons. Tahni, FrootLoop, Boomy, shall we work together to take these Duergar forged weapons out of the hands of our ancestral enemy?

Bruagh awaits response from what he hopes to be his companions before continuing. After hearing their responses he continues speaking to the Captain.

Captain Redforge, I'll go see your uncle and let him know what we found. I do have a request from you. Might I take that Duergar Handaxe in my journey? I firmly believe in using what is close to your enemy to strike against them. I give you my word on the Stormbringer Clan name that after we accomplish our task and confiscate these weapons and end the threat from these orcs, this weapon will be returned to either your or your uncle. If you prefer not to part with such a valuable weapon for a time I understand fully."

Sense Motive Check from earlier: 18

"As you wish. I shall pray for you" Tahni responds to the bard with a nod, before turning to Captain Redforge. "Captain, would it be ok with you if the prisoner is secured in one of the rooms away from this halfling? He has had more than a fair chance to be offered leniency. She" Tahni says nodding to the unconscious halfling " may be more willing to listen to reason."

Tahni then faces the bard again "We will be leaving after a night's rest. If you reconsider our offer, please let one of the guards know. You should ask yourself - do you think this girl will remain as tight lipped as you? She is known to the guards - as you no doubt noticed - so what do you think the chances are that she has a criminal past, and would want to do whatever she can to avoid harsh punishment? Whoever speaks first is always the one who gets the deal. Good day, and may Alemi watch out for you"

Once done with the bard, and with the halfling still unconscious (Perception (9) and Heal (14) checks to make sure she isn't faking and isn't dying) Tahni considers the Captains proposal. She responds in dwarven, wary of the orc still in the room. "The weapon is a concern. I agree that something must be done. I propose we stay here the night to recover fully from the day, and head out at dawn. If you have no objections, Captain, would you mind if we took what supplies we could from the fallen orcs? A four day walk through the Scab may not be easy, and we should prepare as best we can - even if it means readying ourselves with their foul gear"

"As for the prisoners. Has the halfling been checked for weapons? As I recall, she was very handy with a knife. It may be best to remove them from her before she wakes. She also took the liberty of removing coins from my friends and I. 15 gold to be precise. If they are still on her person, then perhaps we should gift them upon the barkeep, for both his ongoing cooperation, and for the damage that has already been done to his establishment? As for the orc maggot over there, I have experience with many languages. Should you require a translator for an interogation, I would be happy to assist as best I can."

After listening to the captain Boomy decides to question the bard some more and to see if thr group can keep the Adamantine weapon to aid them in their search, but both Bruagh and Tahni beat him to the question. Seeing that all is taken care of he returns to his drink and thinks about what adventure might wait ahead for them.

ooc: I rolled for diplomacy with the guard and bard, but got beat to the post last night. The other rolls were just to see if the die roller would give me anything other than a 7.

Let me see. I get to see the countryside, beat up some bad guys, enjoy the company of new friends and drink some good ale. Who could ever refuse an invitation like that. I'm game, Braugh. But, perhaps a little bit of healing thrown my way, otherwise I feel a good strong breeze could knock me unconscious again, and if that happens I doubt I would be very much help if we found ourselves in a scrap.

If, healing is offered, Frootloop readily accepts. Then, after a couple more pictures of the good stuff followed up with some good grub, he will retire to the comfort of a room with a comfortable bed. In the morning, after cleaning his equipment up, then himself, and after a good hearty breakfast, Frootloop dons his armor, puts on his pack and slides the handle of his axe into its backharness. Then does some stretching exercises to prepare himself for the long walk ahead.

OOC: A successful heal check was made on Nov 1st to provide Frootloop with long term care: "If your Heal check is successful, the patient recovers hit points or ability score points (lost to ability damage) at twice the normal rate". Unfortunately, I think he'll still need quite a bit more!

DM Addison
Wednesday November 10th, 2010 4:06:47 AM

For healing hitpoints, the rule i like is that you get your HD+con modifier per day of rest. So Frootloop heals 6hp in one day of resting, Tahni's successful heal check doubles that to 12. So at the start of the next day, Frootloop will have 13HP. Not bad for not spending a spell or a channel energy.

When Tahni tells the Bard that the Halfling woman will probably speak up and get a lighter sentence, he replies, "Well. You assume that I know who she is don't you?" You don't think he was lying, but he refuses to speak to anyone, shutting his trap tight.

The Captain willingly accept's Tahni's volunteering to be the translator. The Orc speaks much quicker than the bard, pretty much as soon as Braugh puts his boot to the GreenSkin's face.
The Orc Prisoner claims, "We were told by a little Troglodyte informant where to find the weapons. I remember because he smelled really bad. He mark cache location with criss-cross on a tree. We retrieve weapons and inspired to kill humans in tavern."

That seems to be the jist of it. The rest are inaudible please for his mother.

So then the Group rests

In the morning the Bard has not spoken and the Halfling woman is still unconscious.

The Barkeep gladly accepts the money you donate. Hero Point for Tahni for suggesting it. Good thoughts good vibrations.

Captain Roger Redforge walks out of the tavern into the morning dewy air with you all. The Orc corpses are quite wet. The Captain grunts and rubs his head, "I guess the first duty in battlefield space control is keeping it clear of corpses." He laughs and orders his men to burn the orcs and begin gathering wood for fortifications.

"We shall stay, refortify this place, and question the three prisoners. You shall pass into the city with these papers and find Rupert Redforge as soon as possible. Just follow the coast east for four days and you will get to RiddlePort.

Your assistance was invaluable, both during and after the fight. Braugh Stormbringer, Tahni Wyrmrider, Boomy, Sir Frootloop. You can take what provisions we can offer, enough food for a week per person just about. More if you ration. Hopefully you wont need it though if all goes according to plan. Braugh, you stick that axe directly in a Duergar's eye for me when you seek their destruction with my uncle."

He gives you all a firm handshake and sees you on your way.

. Braugh gets an Adamantine Handaxe for safekeeping. There are 3 more similar handaxes, but Redforge wants to keep those to be sent to informants on the main continent so that their origins can be traced.

On the Orcs you find enough that everyone gets 50gold each. You are also given:
5 Cure Light Wounds Potions

Just incase. ;)

These things fit nicely into your Handy Haversacks that the awesome DM gave to ya.

The first leg of the Journey is crossing the Bridge to get to the Coastline of The Scab. It's approximately 5miles from the Tavern.

Methinks Braugh, you should take one of the healing draughts as well as me, one to Boomy and the rest to our spiritual leader.
Tahni, you can have my split of the gold to go towards the keeping the crazy dwarf alive fund. Said with a smile on Frootloops' face.
Boomy, I guess that's your name, unusual, but I like it. Well met my wise friend.

Frootloop adjusts his axe and pack to make the walk more comfortable, puts the healing draught in one of the side pockets, next to his new stabilizing cloth, and then waits for the others. Assuming whatever walking position whoever is the leader (assuming Braugh) decides[/b].

Sidequest:

In the morning, another Dwarf comes out of the Tavern to see you on your way. It is the de-armed one who's life was barely saved by Tahni. His nub is wrapped in cloth that needs to be changed as its bloody. The arm was kept, but without an experienced cleric or druid, it cannot be reattached.

He hands Tahni a necklace and says, "Miss Wyrmrider, I am Guy Baltar and I owe you my life. I was going to propose to a girl back in RiddlePort, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be a good husband if I were dead. Give this necklace to her. Her name is Tina Cloverdale, and she was worried sick when I told her I was going on patrol to this Tavern. Tell her I will be at this post for no more than two weeks, Domi willing. Also... can you judge how she takes the news of my condition? Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be a worthy husband given my crippled condition and I wouldn't blame her if she backed out of marrying me. Just... make sure she's ok ya know?"

And Frooloop, don't forget do update your HP for resting a night.

Boomy, feel free to change your character up if you don't like what I put for him. You can even change class if you wish.

Everyone also gets 200exp. Remember that a hero point gives you 30 times level in exp. So 30 for now.

Bruagh Stormbringer AC 19/12/17, HP 13/13
Wednesday November 10th, 2010 3:39:37 PM

Bruagh lets out a hearty laugh, "But of course good Captain, but of course. Good luck to the lot of ya, keep this place safe."

Bruagh accepts one of the potions from FrootLoop. "Your words make sense friend, it'll be good to have you along."

Bruagh overhears the injured dwarf share his story with Tahni after he finishes speaking, he steps in. "Guy Baltar, you are a hero, were it not for your heroic actions and selfless sacrifice last night, many people would have lost their life. Here, take this." Bruagh hands Guy 10 gold pieces. "It's not much in light of your sacrifice, but keep this and use it either to buy your fiance a gift, or save it in case times get hard."

OOC: Ok, I updated my character sheet to the new Pathfinder one we are supposed to be using. One more question. Bruagh's Dwarven Axe, the Heirloom Weapon, while nice, will not ever be able to be Adamantine or even Mithril. No self respecting Dwarf would create a weapon to be his Legacy without it being one of those two metals. As such, may I switch the Heirloom weapon feat out for another and just take it at a later level when I can afford Adamantine, or will I be able to do something else? Also, how did I get volunteered to be the leader lol. If I had to pick a marching order, I'd say Me in front (AC) Followed by Boomy and Tahni, (keep the Caster safe in the middle with the grappler to keep things off of her) and FrootLoop bringing up the rear to prevent something from sneaking up on us. I'm open to suggestions though.

DM Addison: I like your original character sheet better... ANd yeah, you can definitely re-craft your Heirloom weapon later on (and just swap the feat out) when you gather materials and/or money. Hey... you have a chunk of adamantine hanging from your belt right now! But it takes more than one handaxe's worth. This is a good side quest for ya. ;)

OOC: Thanks DM. I think Tahni only earned 1 Hero Point, not 2. And I'm assuming you were serious when you ruled we lost a hero point for throwing ale on the floor to find a hidden enemy? Also, I was interested in the sword used to strike Bruagh in the tavern. You mentioned that the damage it dealt was partly necrotic. Assuming it does not have an evil aura, are we able to "confiscate"/claim that also? Or at least inspect it more closely?

"I'm glad to see you up and about, friend. I am sorry I could not do more to save your arm, but it warms my heart to see you so well so soon" Tahni responds to Guy with sincerity. " I will glady deliver this necklace and your message to your love, and make sure that word reaches you one way or another on her decision. For now though, you should be resting." Tahni takes the necklace, and tucks it safely in her pack. Appraise check on the necklace: 10. Though after rolling I'm guessing there will be time to Take 20 as we travel. I'm curious as to whether this is a piece of tin, a family heirloom, etc. A clue to its value - both monetary and sentimental - that may come in handy should Tina need some nudging

As they prepare to depart, Tahni takes a moment with the guards to say a prayer to keep them safe, and to gather any mail or messages they wish to convey to their colleagues in Riddleport. Tahni then joins the party as they depart the tavern, venturing forward into the Scab.

"I'll hold on to the "crazy dwarf" fund for now, Frootloop, but remember - that crazy dwarf saved my life twice the past day. The least I can do is see that he lives a bit longer to crack a few more orc skulls" she says with a chuckle.

Wednesday November 10th, 2010 9:31:09 PM

OOC: Ok, back to the original character sheet, but updated to make sure everything is completely up to date and ready to rock. I am at a loss for my feat, can't decide on: Skill Focus: Craft. If it applied to both Armor and Weapon I would take it but otherwise, not worth it. Alertness in case I decide to take the Protector PrC. Toughness, I'ma dwarf, enough said. Weapon Focus: Dwarven Axe, my die rolls need all the help they can get. Power Attack, opens up many combat feats. Shield Focus OR Dodge, adds to AC. Opinions, ideas, something I'm not seeing? Please give feedback.

DM Addison: As James Dietz said, only one feat, Craft Magic Arms and Armor, covers crafting weapons and armor. It would make sense to me if a Skill Focus feat did the same. But for your feat, I would suggest you think of three things:
1. Your chosen class of Paladin
2. Your role in the Party: having the highest AC
3. Your character role: Arms crafting.

What I did for my Paladin, Sir Arthur Cromwell, was try to max out the potential damage of Smite Evil. Smite Evil lasts until a battle is over and is only a swift action to declare. You can even have several Smites up at a time. What it does is add +Cha to AC AND to-hit. AND +Paladin level to damage (double Paladin level to Undead, Evil outsiders, and Evil Dragons).
So, by looking at this, the best way to max out smite evil is to get as many attacks in one round as possible. Improved Shield bash+two-weapon fighting adds both AC and an extra attack (that is a smite). It wouldn't be worth it to fight with two weapons b/c your dex wouldnt be high enough for the greater TWF etc, so stopping at one is good.
Also, ranged attacks work with smiting too. So Rapid Shot+ Multishot is two more smites per round.
Boots of haste can add another attack and the Speed enhancement on a weapon could as well.

But these things are for later on in a character's career, as being able to hit is more important now (the -2 from twf hurts a lot)... so I would lean towards Weapon Focus.

Your second role in the party is Armor Class. So, anything that increases that helps. Also Weapon Focus is another 5% chance of hitting, worth it.

OOC: Hey Bruagh. My 2c on your feats... I think there was a ruling recently in the rules board the Skill Focus (Craft) only provides a bonus to 1 craft skill. In your case, Armor or Weapons, but not both. Joining the WLA organisation (as found in the Woldipedia) before you reach level 11 will see you get the Toughness feat as a bonus too.

Boomy HP 11/11 AC 17/17/13
Thursday November 11th, 2010 8:46:03 AM

ooc: If you are referring to the conversation I am thinking of, it took place on the Pathfinder discussion board (I was the one asking the question about the former Woldian feat). The response was:

In the Wolds 3.5 incarnation there was a single crafting feat that took the place of every individual crafting feat.

Pathfinder has one feat named create magic arms and armor that allows you to create magic armor, shields, and weapons. I would assume this means that you create both from the saame feat.

One thing to note is that there is no feat for creating mundane items. I am not sure it that would be a regular skill check or an easier version of the craft magic item feat.

As for the skill checks, you can use what ever skill you feels applies. You could use a craft weapons and armor skill check, but if you are using the craft magic items feat I would suggest investing your skill points in Spellcraft because it the rules state you can use that for any of the create magic items feat dc checks and it would use less skill points than investing in seperate craft skills.
