Thursday May 3rd, 2018 8:25:57 AM

"I've no use for the armor, Bralin, and would feel better if one of you tough guys were wearing it" She seems quite sincere until adding "You'd make a much better shield that way" Her grin indicates that it was said only in jest.

Tahni looks at the sphere very closely with her Arcane Sight (Perception: 43)

"I could try dispelling it, but a few things might happen. Something might fly out, and that drop may spill out. Are we ready for either to occur?"

Aexana doesn't have a clue what to do with the sphere in front of them... it looks... harmless... her knowledge of the arcane is just dreadfull (know arcane 6)

"How about we just put this thing in our backpacks and take it back the elder? Although I doubt that raven guy will allow us to simply take it back... we haven't seen the last of that one... "

(MikeK)Bralin (AC35 / T14 / FF32)CMD 30 - HP 176/165)
Thursday May 3rd, 2018 7:30:07 PM

Bralin commences to procuring the armor, putting pieces into his Haversack as best he can, and tying the rest to the outside.

As for the water drop, the dwarf wordlessly waits for the magicians to discern its secrets.

"Awright, I'm gonna see if I can grab that sphere. If that dispels the container, we should be ready to catch the drop. And if that doesn't work, I'll cast Dispel Magic and see if that works."

Rill will wait until someone can position something suitable below the thing before he tries either of these.

Dispel Magic - only 18, so would affect up to Caster Level 7.

Not sure what the make of the sphere, Jozhur watches nervously as the fire elemental tromps around in the dry grass. He keeps his sword in hand and watches their surroundings as the others figure out what to do.

Perception: 41

DM Kathy

Tahni looks at the water drop. You can see the Resilient Sphere surrounding it, and something resembling a Levitate. Both spells are obviously permanent, though you see no sign of a Permanency spell. You don't see anything else.

Aexana suggests just packing the thing up and carrying it, while Bralin tries to stow his new armor.

Jozhur is on alert, but all seems quiet.

Rill volunteers to grab the sphere, but requests somebody be ready to catch the drop just in case. "Twilight!" says a little voice, and Drini becomes visible, clutching the vial that Zeoll gave her waaaay back before the first sphere was dispelled. She holds it up, ready to catch the drop.

She proves not to be needed--at least, not at this point. Rill can grasp and carry the object just as if it were a ball of glass or metal or some other material. It does still want to float in the air, so you'll need to make sure it is secure, but it looks as though you can just carry it around until you need to use the drop.

Speaking of which, Zeoll senses it is now time to play upon the flute that Mahyawu gave you. You also get a sense that it will return you to the meteorite and the crystal shard--which is underwater.

There may be some spells that need to be cast at this point.

"Zeoll, please hold off on the flute there. It seems we may be underwater again soon, and I did not think to prepare Water Breathing for our time in this parched land. So let's see if resting one more day will be a problem."

Rill will cast Divination (10 Min. casting time) and ask, "What effect will it have on the Wold if we wait one more day before returning to the meteorite site?"

(Divination chance of success is 84%. Rolled 48% - Success!)

Zeoll tells his friends what he senses. And he hopes aloud that Rill has prepped his water breathing magic. If not, Zeoll has a water breathing potion he can share around, and plenty of vials of Elixer of Swimming. "Who needs help underrwaterr?" he asks, "If that's wherre we arre to go next."

He also bids farewell to Drini, not wanting to take her underwater. "You have helped us well, fairr one. You have my thanks! Maybe the Silver Lady will rreunite us one day!"

DM Kathy
Sunday May 6th, 2018 10:27:00 PM

Zeoll gets out the flute, but you pause for a moment. Your casters have cast a lot of spells; many have the wrong spells prepared. You'd like to wait a day, so you can rest and re-prepare.

Rill casts a Divination, and asks what will happen if you wait a day. The answer is as simple as it is horrifying: The Wold will end.

Among you, you have potions and items and shapeshifting abilities and one precious water-breathing spell. Those will have to do. If you don't go now, it will be the end of everything.

Rill (MarkB) HP 111/111 - AC 25/15/23 CMD 23
Sunday May 6th, 2018 11:04:17 PM

Rillett Savenport sits in his white robes, meditating in a cloud of incense. Suddenly his eyes shoot open and his face becomes about as pale as his robes. He quickly rises as he speaks.

"OK, WE GOTTA GO NOW.

"I asked what would happen if we waited a day. The answer to that is that the Wold will end. So that's bad. I'll have to rely on my scrolls and such, but that will be enough. It will have to be. Aexana, please cast your Water Breathing spell. I have a scroll of such if it becomes necessary. I also have a boat if we need it."

"Zeoll - do the thing!

"Anybody know what we're supposed to do when we get there? Did anyone read that book we got?"

Rill then casts Resist Energy, Electricity.

He has a potion of water breathing, but it looks like the group will not need it for now? If the spell is enough, he saves it.

He makes sure that we have not left any people or loot items behind.

He makes sure his Mage Armor is up to date, straps his shield to his back, and says a prayer to the Silver Lady [OOC: Guidance].

Aex will gladly accept Zeoll's mage armor again if he can spare one and then when the group is ready she casts the Water Breathing on the group - she does not apply the water breathing on herself to maximise the effect for the others...

At this moment, Aexana does not shapechange yet... after all, she does not like the prospect of being a dolphin or so out here on this grassy plain. Looks kinda silly no?

Would someone like a freedom of movement spell in case we need to fight anything while we're submerged?

With that, the dwarf is ready.

DM Kathy

Upon learning that you cannot wait a day, you begin making immediate preparations.

However, although you cannot afford to wait a day, surely the gods (and your DM) will not begrudge you a few rounds to get yourselves together.

It would seem, for example, that this would be a good time to read the book you got from Mahyawu, You can also coordinate your spells and prepare yourselves as best you can for leaving the hot, dry plains here and arriving underwater.

Terser only has one casting, trusting he will be able to call upon his domain to serve his own needs long enough. Would it go better on Bralin so he can swing his axe unimpeded? Or with Tahni to give her mobility on the battlefield?

In the end, Bralin asked first, so he gets the spell, with Terser's promise to Tahni to get her next time.

Tuesday May 8th, 2018 6:42:03 PM

Zeoll waits patiently for Rill to mention anything needed for the process. Is a particular kind of tune or music better? When it is time, he creates his melody.

DM Kathy
Tuesday May 8th, 2018 10:27:20 PM

While you organize your spells, Rill reads the book. The ritual calls for the musical instrument to be played, and Zeoll seems to have that covered. No specific type of music is indicated, but perhaps, given the nature of the group a sea-chanty would not go amiss.

While the music is playing, herbs need to be scattered near the crystal. You realize that what you though were sticks of incense are in fact tightly-packed herbs, ready to be scattered. It will be a challenge underwater, to be sure. [OOC: It was incense, but your DM realized that making you burn incense underwater was just mean.]

Once the music and herbs are going, the water drop needs to touch the crystal. You're pretty sure you can dispel the Resilient Sphere around the drop, but then you have to make sure that that one drop, out of all the drops of water in the ocean, actually touches the crystal. And how you're going to do that is a bit of a puzzler.

Once everyone understands what is expected, Zeoll raises the flute to his lips and begins to play....

[OOC: last call! Also, everyone take 35,000 XP for this scene.]
