The Pit and the Dark

Emrys casts his True Seeing spell on himself before taking the plunge down the perfectly circular pit. As they float down, he mentions this to the others ... they have plenty of time. As they finish their float down to the floor, Emrys casts a spell. When they land, he touches each of his friends and himself. "Mindless undead shouldn't be able to see, hear or smell us ... however the more intelligent undead may see through this ward. If you touch or strike any of them, this will end this protection for all." Once on the bottom, he gives the area a good look over.

While floating down through the absolute darkness, Velarin waits to hear from Emrys that his true Seeing spell penetrates the magical dark. Upon confirmation that it does, Velarin decides to cast true seeing upon himself. "It's for situations like this that I spend much of my free time in my library. I have three true seeing spells prepared on scroll. Who wants them? or do I hold them for now and wait until something causes the need to use them?"
Velarin describes the vast chamber to those that can't see.

Lanliss jumps with the rest closing his eyes but slowly opens his eyes as they fall/glide down through this so called dark matter only to arrive in a chamber. Lanliss does not say anything but keeps eyes wide open.

Tishe’ gently floats down and attempts to Dispel the Teucri Darkness when Emrys and Velarin say they are within 100’ of the bottom. “We are really going to want to see what’s happening, especially if there are Undead! We also don’t know how long the Pack may be bounding around down here”, she considers as they float downwards.

You reach the bottom. Only V and E can see freely, thanks to their True Sight, a spell that has a target of “creature touched.” Does anyone else wish to be the target of this spell?

V and E do see that the chamber is circular, 200 ft in diameter, with two doors on opposite sides.

Tishe tries to dispel the Darkness, and succeeds. From the way that the dispel works, you deduce that four deeper darknesses, each about 120 ft in diameter, cover this room. One of the four is now dispelled. It reveals one of the two doors.

At this time, two figures appear, a half elf and a half orc. The appear on either side of you, flanking the group, call it 50 ft in front of each door. All can see them. The two casters with True Seeing understand that they are illusions.

It looks like they are about to speak, but I’ll give you good heroes a chance to act at this point if you like, before the images deliver ... whatever it is they are there to deliver!

"They are illusions" V warns the group so that nobody rushes to confront them. "they are likely to deliver some sort of message to those that come here. Let's hear what they have to say."

V waits for the message from the illusions and waits to see who needs true seeing cast, or who, like Brom, has a potion.

Lanliss keeps looking but doesn't expect anything to surprise them, he trusts that his friends will alert him at a prompt time if anything might put them at danger.
Lanliss adopts a defensive crouch position just in case the illusions Velarin speaks about are harmful.

Barratore declines the true sight, but will take Darkvision, thinking V has a wand of the spell. Barratore has his shield animated at the ready. His sword and bow stay where they are and he calls forth from his Haversack a potion of magic circle protection from evil

Brom downs a dark vision potion at the bottom. As his vision adjusts, he looks around at his surroundings. Seeing the people standing there, Brom's sword is in his hands. He waits for their actions.

The party awaits what the two illusions will deliver to them. The party is cautious of what the images may have for them.

As they eagerly await, the half-orc image says to the party, “Greetings. I am Brealla the Bold. You have come unbidden to a fell place, but that may also be your good fortune. You see over there a door.” She gestures to one of the doors. “Through it, you will find the domain of Kelsandria, a place of seeming tranquility. But do not be deceived or let down your guard! There are three items I need from there to be free of this place. In there are three crystalline roses. These roses are constructs, not plants and are items of great power. Bring them to me and you shall be handsomely rewarded. You may also spare the Wold a cruel fate in the process.”

Just as the half-orc finishes, the next starts. The second image is of a of a male half-elf clad in green armor decorated in leaves and vines. He wears a large sword and a bow. He says, “Nay, do not listen to her, for her words are lies. I am Axendur, and my mistress Kelsandria is a goodly woman, seeking only to create places of peace and tranquility. She cares for her creations.” He points at the other image. “This one serves a cruel master named Maegos, in a place of blasted heaths and plains. In fact, it is he that would wipe out the life above given the chance. Heed my words that we may protect the Wold from his plans. Bring me Maegos’ armor, for it is the source of his power. Kelsandria alone can control that armor and save your people from a terrible fate.”

Tishe’ has to cover a smile, Velarin and Emrys’ True Seeing is keeping the Pack shuttlecocked and forewarned! “Very clever for illusions to deliver messages; it’s impossible to know which is right or even if either are.”

Then another thought come to her. “If we revealed one door and two illusions appeared, what is in the other corners? This is Teucri-made, so why something as straightforward as a retrieval job that would appeal to adventurers? It may be the illusions are programmed to appeal to our natures, though I did not detect any scrying or other divination to collect information.”

V calls forth his wand of darkvision and uses it upon Barratore.

"Well, I think either way, we will end up making our own decisions based upon what we encounter and learn. At present, I'm not inclined to give either of them either item."

"Agreed Tishe'. We should check out the rest of this room before opening any doors. Always best to know what lays behind you."

"What the elf says seems more true to me", Lanliss exclaim, "He didn't offer a reward", he adds as a reason for his thinking

Edson nods at Lanliss's reasoning. It was sound reasoning. The skinny elf begins looking around when Tishe mentions knowing more about their surrounding before making a decision. He checks the "door" for traps. (Trap sense 31).

Lanliss tries to tell which is speaking true. But these are illusions; there are no motives to sense, and divination to sense veracity has no grasp over the recorded words of an image.

Tishe’ sees the cleverness inherent in this system. Perhaps she also deduces that these are illusions heightened to level 9, so that they will outshine the magical darkness without actually illuminating anything.

Velarin considers casting another Darkvision. Note that the Darkvision from yesterday’s post definitely allows vision in the quarter of the room from which the Darkness has been dispelled; the other three quarters of the huge chamber, still covered in Darkness, is impenetrable to Darkvision.

Edson wants to check for traps, but one door is covered in magical darkness and the other is just dark. The party has ways of making light, so your DM assumes Edson looks at the door not covered in magical darkness --- and he sees no traps.

Has anyone TOUCHED a door (both are "illuminated" by the illusions)?

Has anyone SPOKEN to the illusions?

Has anyone ENTERED an area of magical darkness in this chamber?

Tishe’ looks about. Lanliss has asked the elf illusions a quiestion, so the KeeperPack will soon find out if they are Programmed Illusions or something more... Teucri: as in beyond the ability of today’s arcane magic. She watches the illusion closely, trying to discern the magical nature of the illusion.

To the orc illusion, Tishe’ then poses another question, again looking for clues to the craft is this spell. “Why are these roses so special? Where do the loyal peoples of Magyar reside?”

To Velarin and Emrys, “Can you use your True Seeing to see if there are other doors in the Darkness?”

He thinks for it for a moment and asks the elvish illusion in confusion.
"How do we meet Maegos or steal his armor?"

Lanliss still doesn't touch anything for fear that something might happen somewhere in the shadows if he touches something.

Barratore looks about, the Darkvision does not penetrate the magical darkness, but if does help and he retrieves his Everburning Torch sliding it back into his belt. "I agree with V, and we should remove the other magical darkness areas to see if there are more then the 2 choices and doors we see right now. When you get a moment Tische. Seems like you have a handle on unworking the spells."

Barratore wants the room undone before engaging illusions or doors and certainly is not going to wander into an area he cannot see

While the half-orc ranger only asks for our help to protect his domain, and that of his mistress, from destruction. If I had to choose between the two, the request of Axendur sounds the most nobel."

Emrys scrutinizes the two figures: items and clothing worn and searches his mind to see if he recalls any lore about them and the names and places they talked about.

When Lanliss speaks to the male half-elf, it speaks: “What fate would Maegos bring to the Wold? He would bring machines to subjugate and destroy your people. You would live to service him - if you were allowed to live at all.”

“Why trust me? I tell you the truth. Is there any other reason?”

After speaking these words, the illusion fades away.

After speaking these words, the illusion fades away.

To Velarin and Emrys, Tishe asks, “Can you use your True Seeing to see if there are other doors in the Darkness?” Tishe’ casts three more Dispel Magic spells with her Spellweaver abilities, focusing on a different corner of the large room.

Tishe is able to dispel the darkness in the circular chamber completely. You are at the center of the room, which is 100 ft in diameter. Darkvision can see 60 ft. The everburning torch illuminates 20 ft clearly, 40 vaguely; 40 ft / 80 ft with darkvision. However, the True Seeing has a range of 120 ft! Who has True Seeing up? If you do *cough*Emrys*cough*Velarin*cough* then you see that the walls are graven.

Velarin will wait to see what the interaction with the illusions results in and whether or not Tishe' is able to Dispel more of the magical darkness spells. She is!

SO, you are in a circular chamber, 200 ft around. You are at the center, so, 100 ft from the wall. With your current lighting, no one can see the walls or the two doors, except for the two mages with True Seeing. Actions?

Tishe’ considers and nods. “I wonder if this isn’t a magician’s choice; that neither door is a good choice.” She raises her staff of Daylight to shine to the walls as she walks to the center of the room. “Perhaps there are secret doors?”

Once a check for other regresses are made and Emrys has the chance to read the glyphs on the walls, Tishe’ agrees the half-Orcs door just sounds more plausible to her.

All this was done to create two choices? Seems a little unnecessary to me since the best choice might be to make no choice, and leave things as they are. If it's not broke, why try and fix it?

Before we even touch either door, we should definitely search for secret doors. On top of that, the walls are graven, and should also be investigated. Perhaps the Tecuri have something to say about all this and left a message.

"If we must follow the orc path, which I still do not trust....I have you all to agree on one important Thing !!"
Lanliss says more loudly so everybody can hear, he awaits for a second and continues
We split the roses or whatever they may between all of us, in case we chose incorrectly the enemy will have to take all of us to get the roses thingies
Lanliss than awaits for a nod of understanding from everybody and goes to look for something in the place they are that might lead to a secret door or a lever/trigger of some kind.

Brom doesn't have any answers for the current situation. But, the fire inside says let the being loose. A truly powerful opponent to face makes the hair on his neck tingle with anticipation. So while the group muddles through the decision, he envisions the glorious battle.

The party cautiously debates which door to take. Many of the party want to travel through the door that the half orc suggests. Edson and [b]Velarin wish to search for hidden doors. Velarin wants to read the glyphs on the wall with the help of Tishe’s spell.

However, the glyphs are something special. With the Daylight and no more magic darkness and your reported activities, everyone gets a look at them. That happens BEFORE any door-investigation or glyph-reading. Therefore, ALL PCs Please Make A Will Save vs DC30 and report your roll -- and mention contingent modifiers you have that may or may not apply -- as your complete post!

Before the illusions popped out, Emrys astutely comments, "The clothes of the two illusions are of a fashion that was in style only a few hundred years ago. Emrys attempts to read the glyphs along with Velarin, who also looks at the runes on the wall. Formidable in lore, the two deduce that these runes are part of some complex spells of some sort, somehow related to space and time and extra-dimensional travel. The actual spell can neither be read nor cast without years of study and effort [OOC: consider this to be the equivalent of 10th level spellcasting.]

Emrys sways as he feels a power magical roll over him like a stiff breeze. He goes numb for the briefest of moments, but his will's tenacity fights it off.

Suddenly Barratore takes his weapon and mutilates poor, poor Velarin! "By the gods...!"

Emrys immediately rushes over to Velarin and delivers a Living Touch (witch ability), to the most solid portion of Velarin's carcass that isn't the consistency of hamburger.

Brom notices everything but his body refuses to act. Barratore cuts down V. Tishe throws spells and the rogues...he never understood what they do anyway.

With wide eyes and fearing the worst, Emrys gulps as he watches Brom approach ... not knowing what his intent. Thankfully it's his bark and not his bite.

"This madness has got to stop!" he mutters. He begins to speak words of power, the likes he has never done before. His body begins to glow with divine energies. The energy builds and then bursts sending a wave of light in all directions.

(Emrys is casting Mass Heal on Everyone. Range: 65ft. Everyone heals by 250 points. Everyone is also cured of a long list of conditions, including Confusion and Insanity.)

Emrys appears pale, weak and withered after the spell. The outer layer of his skin seems to have turned to ash as it trickles down to the floor. Then he too begins to heal like the others, returning to normal and looking refreshed.

V returns to consciousness, and looks up at Emrys standing over him. "Thanks Emrys", the wizard says as he looks down at what's left of his body, hoping that most of his insides are still on the inside. V quickly stands up and casts fly upon himself. "You and Brom appear to be normal. I am normal. Barratore, Edson, and Lanliss are definitely not normal. What of Tishe'? This is obviously some sort of spell, and I would guess it's basis is the spell on the walls. I can try a break enchantment spell on all of them, but I'm not sure if it can overpower the Tecuri magic, and it takes a minute to cast."

"Brom! they are effected by some sort of spell. I think you, me, and Emrys are unaffected. Help prevent anyone from killing anyone else in their madness. If anyone needs to take a nap for awhile, help them take a nap!

Barratore cocks his head a bit as the events about him unfold. It looked to be a mess

V was back, but wherever he had disappeared to looks to have killed him, unless whatever Emrys was doing worked.
The troll thing was gone, but that could be like the Time Elemental and other extra planar creatures that disappear when destroyed on this plane.
Tishe was now gone though, and the fighter hopes she is not in the same place V just was.
Lanliss and Edson? He was not sure what to make of that. The strange vibes of this place looks to have gotten to them. Edson might be trying to say something with the pointing at his mouth and all, but. The fighter shrugs off that line of thinking.
It was Brom he was more interested in than the rogues. The man was obviously very upset. What gave him pause was that his posture was directed at him.

Barratore had been nearly killed by Brom before. Barratore gently taps forth with his sword and encounters the wall of the sphere and nods. OK he was indeed captured in something and that had to be the source of his inability to hear the group. The dangers he could deal with were done and so now he simply needed to wait for Emrys to finish saving V and take down the barrier. After that, the priority would be to get Tishe back.

Barraoter sighs in relief as Emrys is able to pull V back from the brink. He sheathes his blade and gives a minotaur toothy grin and wave to his friend. He then taps the bubble with a finger and shrugs. V was smart, he should be out in a jiffy

Edson attacks Lanliss, inflicting 41 damage! He is clearly confused.

Tishe, still invisible, hurts herself. So confused!

Brom tries to intimidate his friends, with mixed to no effect. A few may be a little scared, but that won’t cure confusion. [OOC: In a case where a hero point would not help a situation, I allow you to not have used it. Please save your hero point, good Sir Brom!]

Emrys decides that enough is too much. His Mass Heal removes the confusion from everyone in its area of effect. Whew!

Velarin casts fly on himself just in case and stands up. The caster is totally cured after that Mass Heal, by the way.

Barratore sheathes his weapon, waves, and uses sign language to say that sound does not penetrate the Resiliant Sphere.

Lanliss, free of the confusion and cured of the damage he just took, is not confused any more.

“Oh! There you all are!”, exclaims the invisible Tishe’, when Emrys’ healing removes her own damage and clears her mind. It doesn’t take her long to put the clues together; “Confusion spell, and a powerful one.”

She dismisses her Invisibility, then cocks her head. “Barratorre is in a force bubble, he may still be affected. I recommend everyone be ready before I remove the spell.” She waits until the others are ready then dismisses the Resilient Sphere.

Edson comes in on Lanliss, and Barratore instinctively steps forward, the barrier stops him and he cringes as the rogues weapons find their marks. Then Emrys, casts another spell and everyone not only seems cured, but they appear to be shaking something off. At least some of them. Perhaps that is how he came into the sphere to begin with. Odd, Barratore leaves his weapon stowed, and resumes the wait. it looked as if Tishe was approaching to do something...

The sphere vanishes, or at least all sound resumes and the fighter assumes the sphere is gone. He grins and gives his horn a tug and looking to those of the arcane arts, "Any insight on what that was all about? Should we still commence the search for secret passages?"

To answer Barratore, Emrys says, "Our minds were assaulted with magical Insanity ... Confusion. As Tishe had said, the most powerful variety we had ever seen. We will need iron our wills if we are to continue."

Emrys wants to detect if they are still under the effects of the magic and begins to cast Detect Magic, but quickly stops before finishing the incantation.

"I fear to even check your auras at the risk of being overwhelmed by the magic of this place."

The bloody wreck of a mess known as Velarin moves 20' in the air and looks at the others, making sure to keep a good distance from Barratore, and readying a teleport spell in case anyone pulls a bow.

"We should not have come to this place. I am probably the most learned Wizard in many hundreds of miles and this magic is beyond my grasp. It affected most of us, and this is just the entryway. Barratore cut me down without hesitation. Edson attacked Lanliss. It affected Tishe' as well. If not not for Emrys, most of this group would likely be dead now. Thank you again Emrys for bringing me back from the dead. Standing before Gargul once again is not on my bucket list."

"Why are we here? Our own curiosity? There is no threat to the world or the valley that we know of. No one has been here for centuries. The greatest danger posed to the world from this place is us continuing on and unleashing something that we cannot stop. The Sage's will likely seek to come here one way or another, and the word will spread of this places existence, and those less powerful or power hungry will seek it out. We should leave this place and seal it."

Spells rarely ends so quickly and the lack of sphere around his friend has put the barbarian on high alert. "Do me a solid and hand me your bug pig sticker there." He say to Barratore. "I like our sparring matches but now is not the time and I don't trust the mind magic is gone."

Lanliss feels the pain of the wound, Edson certainly knew where to his as a rogue.
He didn't scream but he felt fear of what might happen.
So he did, what he thought anyone would.
Getting away ( take some distance/5ft) from anybody that might go suddenly berserk and be ready for any surprise that might arise, violence wise (total defense action).

Barratore looks a bit uncertain at V. They were here for their own curiosity true, but it felt wrong to him to pack it in so easily. Brom catches him a bit off guard, “do what now?” The fighter takes a 5’ step back and considers what he knows for a moment Emrys through a big spell and both he and V say Brom is ok in the head. So Barratore decides he will trust his life to them. Barratore pulls both swords and gives them a mild toss. He also pulls his Efficient Quiver off and tosses it as well

Tishe comes to the logical conclusion: A potent Confusion effect! She releases Barratore from the force bubble, but warns that he may still be affected.

Barratore tries to figure out the gist from within the bubble, and in a moment of lucidity after the bubble comes down, tries to figure out how to know if one is still affected.

Emrys fears to detect magic, perhaps wisely, given the beyond-mortal level of power revealed so far.

Velarin too is wary of the power revealed just here in the beginning of the adventure, and suggests that discretion -- and retreat -- and a solid plug for that pit -- is the best way to go.

Lanliss is cautious too -- and backs off.

Brom stands between Barratore and the group in case there is yet to fear from the powerful combatant. He asks Barratore to stand down and disarm.

Barratore nods and disarms. Still, a minotaur naked to the Wold remains a formidable threat ...

... and in fact, Barratore is still confused at his mental core ... as the DM rolls a 73 for his mental state ... and the minotaur bends over to gore himself! Barratore inflicts 8 damage to himself! OOC: Barratore, feel free to RP as you like, but please take no other actions this round other than the self-inflicted wound.

What to do about Barratore? What to do about this eldritch horror of a pit, perhaps better left undisturbed by the likes of you!?!

Barratore is mid way through a thought about what V is saying makes good sense and all when, by the gods! Some sort of demon spider pushes its way through his forearm and Brom had him kick away his sword! it has been stated before though, that an unarmed minotaur is still a minotaur and so Barratore does what he must and plants a horn through the vile creature. The wound to himself was minor, but necessary.

Emrys steps away (5-ft step) from Barratore when he starts exhibiting signs of insanity. He wants to give Velarin a chance for his spell to work ... however if it doesn't he prepares to be his back up.

(Preparing an Action: IF Barratore starts to attack others before Velarin can finish casting his spell, THEN Emrys will cast Heal on Barratore, enhanced by the Reach Metamagic Feat, giving it a Close Range instead of Touch. 7th Level spell.)

Brom's intuition was right and Barratore injured himself. What to do? Brom could try and restrain Barratore but he's not sure he could do it. For now he needed to protect the casters. Unless Barratore started to seriously injure himself he would maintain his position.

Barratore straightens abruptly and looks about at the group. With a large breath Barratore gives a nod to Brom and moves to go retrieve his weapons. "I feel free of the cloud that came over me and it would look like I was the last one."

"V you spoke of leaving. Yes we are here of our own curiosity and well perhaps our opening was not the best, but i think we should push on. Try to learn of the great power here, perhaps return to the Wold with greater secrets that can be of help to all."

Emrys still isnt sure what to think. He knows the darkness that occupies soul. He understands the effects of insanity and the potential for chaos to tip the fragile balance. He doesn't trust this place, and at the moment he doesn't trust his friends like he did before they entered this place. Knowing the great power of those present doesn't give him security like it once did ... in fact, quite the opposite.

He wants to cast Heal upon his friend Barratore, so badly, but he doesn't wish to reveal his distrust. He instead decides to casually stroll away from the minotaur as if something over there caught his attention. However he prepares an act of self-preservation.

The babbling confirms his suspicions. He gives a nod to both Velarin and Tishe and casts a Heal spell on Barratore. If he has the movement to get to him, he will deliver the touch himself ... otherwise he will use witchcraft hackery (metamagic).

(Casting Heal on Barratore, enhanced by the Reach Spell metamagic feat, if required. Heals 150 points and cures confusion and insanity conditions.)

Barratore exhales, that was not a pleasant experience. Like watching someone else in control and being locked in a trunk. But that was the point of having a clan, picking each other up. "Thanks Emrys."

Barratore is still game to continue and the Half Orc's door was the last thing he remembered the group wanting to investigate further.

Giving a slight smile to Edson and a pat on the shoulder, "I appreciate your restraint my friend, you're truly a role model in stressful situations. Now what can you tell us about these doors?"

Velarin seems to recall, after deep thought, rumors of powerful (20th level) mages in the second age known as Kelsandria and Maegos, partners, maybe, who were shy and retiring. Perhaps others have taken their names in this fifth age?

Brom and Emrys are glad to see Barratore back, and have not given much thought to the dilemma of the doors.

Barratore thinks for a bit on what V is saying and finds that he cant really argue with it. The wizard was right. The best choice is neither door and apply the considerable resources of the group to bring down the mountain and seal this whole thing away.

"Seal up, disguise and otherwise make the obelisk untouchable and no one else, whether they figure out the runes or not will ever be able to open the portal and come down here. I think we could render the route to this area unobtainable by others. Another possibility is to enter either door, but not be errand boys. Us going in to investigate does not compel us to deliver the armor or roses."

"On which direction we should go first, if indeed we continue for our own curiosity, now that i have thought about it a bit more. The blasted realm of Maegos sounds far more fun."

The Spellweaver changes her mind and agrees with Velarin and Barratorre. “Blasted lands it is!”

Barratore thinks for a bit on what V is saying and finds that he cant really argue with it. The wizard was right. The best choice is neither door and apply the considerable resources of the group to bring down the mountain and seal this whole thing away. "Seal up, disguise and otherwise make the obelisk untouchable and no one else, whether they figure out the runes or not will ever be able to open the portal and come down here. I think we could render the route to this area unobtainable by others. Another possibility is to enter either door, but not be errand boys. Us going in to investigate does not compel us to deliver the armor or roses." "On which direction we should go first, if indeed we continue for our own curiosity, now that i have thought about it a bit more. The blasted realm of Maegos sounds far more fun."

The party decides to open the door to Maegos’s Realm. It opens easily, abd it is like opening an oven. The heat coming off the thing makes your eyes water. You get the idea of a flat dimly lit land beyond, but with the heat rising and the wavy air, it is hard to see more than that.

The door is open. You have yet to step through.

The heat blasts through the door, and Tishe’ braces against it. “Feels like home on the Sargrass”, she notes, “but I doubt the Blasted Lands will be as lush as the Grasses when I went Walker. “ she pauses then announces, “I have Endure Elements spells for anyone who wishes extra protection from the heat “

Tishe’ casts an Endure Elements Spell on all others who want one, then walks through the door. She keeps her senses on alert and goes through in a defensive crouch just in case.

Barratore squints into the heat as it rolls from the door. He chuckles and looks back at V. "Of course the land beyond is full of fire."

He nods to Tishe, "Endure Elements seems a good idea." He then gives a confirming look to Edson and Lanliss that the entryway contains no traps and with that affirmed, crosses into the oven.

Barratore has his shield animated before him and weapons away so that he can just as easily use his bow or blade depending on what is presented.

Emrys puts a hand up to guard his eyes from the sudden burst of light and heat from the open door. The heat feels pleasant for about 2 seconds before it starts to feel unpleasant. He immediately casts a spell on himself to allow him to adapt to such conditions (Saving Tishe's spell slot).

(Casting Rose's Temperature Control on Emrys. Target: Self. Duration: 25 hours. Mimics Endure Elements spell plus grants several other temperature-based abilities.)

"Daemon, is this heat invigorating for you?" If not, he will share this ward with you. The viper answers ... (DM, is this environment agreeable with a reptile, such as a viper.)

"If we stay here for a long time I won't be able to fight let alone stand in this hot place", Lanliss says loudly.
