Zanderallen and Stock step into the room.

Micah moves in behind Stock and casts a protective spell upon him, while Zanderallen invokes protections of his own.

Bartomus moves up, flooding the chamber with light.

Sid draws his sword.

Stohp stepped back to let the tanks up. She, Dorbin, and Dirk are still around the arc from the door, and can’t see into the chamber yet.
Stohp tries to decipher the language, and feels it was a command of some kind. But, the phrase was only a few words, and thus not enough to start translating.

Sid, Micah, Bartomus, Zanderallen, and Stock see a large, circular chamber with a high ceiling. Double doors sit in the cardinal points of the chamber.
The floor rises slightly from the edges to the center, so that the 10’ section in the middle, and the stone throne upon it, are elevated about 5’ higher than the doors.

Standing next to the throne, and looking at the Silver Shields, is an emaciated, humanoid figure swathed in dirty linen strips from head to toe. Its eyes burn with unholy light.

Midway between this figure and the Shields are six more humanoids, likewise swathed in dirty linen. Unlike the figure by the throne, they have no eyes, just more linen wrapped around their heads.

The figure near the throne utters another command, and the six linen wrapped figures take a step back from the group.

Perception DC 10 Highlight to display spoiler: { The six creatures are reacting to the leader’s commands, not the presence of the group.}

At Sid’s words, the figure by the throne tilts its head, and then calls out in heavily accented common.
“Begone! Or perish!”

It then makes another incantation, casting some kind of spell with quick, sure movements.
Whatever it cast doesn't seem to affect any of the heroes.

Dirk cranes his neck and tries to listen. "What's going on over there? I didn't quite hear what Sid said.". Dirk squeezes ahead and takes a look further and strains his hearing to see if he can get news.

Stock moves up 20 feet, waving Z up next to him. He holds his flail at ready, ready and waiting for the fight to start.

Speaking softly but nonetheless aware the leader can probably hear them, Micah reminds the group, "All but the leader probably cannot hear or see you because of my spell. Once any of us attacks any one of them, that protection will end."

As he moves up behind Stock and Zanderallen, he calls upon Domi to bless them all.

Zanderallen and Stock draw weapons and advance.
Micah follows, casting a Bless spell, and pointing out that it is likely that only the leader is aware of the group’s presence.

Dirk squeezes forward to get a better view.

Dorbin starts looking for exits.

Stohp wants to negotiate with the leader, and asks Micah if he can control his spell.

Despite still being around the corner, the leader apparently hears the taur.
”Come forth, Peacekeeper” he rasps. "Beg for my mercy."

Then, the leader casts a spell of his own, rendering Micah’s Bless spell ineffective (Bane)

The line of mummies do not move, nor do they seem to react to the approach of paladin and dwarf.

Bartomus looked at the row of mummies and then watched as Stohp was called forth by the creature on the dias. "Did it say who it was?"

He looked about and held off from saying the final activating phrase of the spell he had been preparing.

Stock glances over his shoulder at Stohp and says, "Peacekeeper...that isn't a bad name for you."

He continues to hold his flail at the ready while talks continue. Besides keeping an eye on the mummies, he is also keeping an eye on Zanderallen in case the paladin charges forward.

I'll keep the readied attack from the previous post. If the other shields move forward, Stock will as well and use the attack for that.

Zander is almost at a loss for words, while he served Domi he had always agreed with Gargul's thinking on the undead. And standing around was only letting this abomination have more time to prepare it's defenses. "The only peace keeping that needs to be done around here is your destruction. May Domi's hand guide you to Gargul's embrace!" Sensing Stock ready to go beside him Zander charges forward, the mace in his hand pulsing as it neared undead.

"Well, that die is cast," comments Micah when he sees Zanderallen charge to the attack. Stoph's pacifism has served them well in the past, but he thinks it would probably be for naught in this case, even had the paladin not forced their hand.

He again calls upon Domi, casting consecrate on the area and continues to move forward.

Stohp sighs. So much for that idea. Still if they had left it peacefully then it might have ended badly later, there's no telling if they could trust this thing to stick to any bargain they made. For now she just waits for everyone else to clear the way to the door, no sense in her rushing in and getting blown up with some spell.

Dorbin isn’t happy with the whole “Beg for mercy” part. He waits patiently behind Stohp.

Zanderallen and Stock charge.

The dwarf whacks #3 a good one with his flail, although he notices there is a lot of give to these bodies, and he likely didn’t do as much damage as he could have.

The paladin, more or less attacking with advantages of invisibility, smacks Mummy #4.
It winces, but is not destroyed.

Micah moves up and casts a spell. The result is unexpected. There is a brief flash, both of light and of darkness, and then nothing seems to happen.
The leader’s eyes flicker - with annoyance perhaps?
OOC - Micah just countered a Desecrate spell that was already in place

Sid moves into the chamber and readies for his next action.

Dirk takes out his crossbow and walks into the room, reading for any action

Stohp waits.

Bartomus possibly produces a flaming sphere. The DM Isn’t quite sure.

The mummies finally react to the presence of the Shields, and attack.

#1 steps in and attacks Stock, slamming its two arms into the dwarf like a giant club.
Stock is hit for 14 hp damage, and must make Fort save DC 16 or be diseased.

#2 attacks Stock
Stock is hit for 18 hp damage, and must make Fort save DC 16 or be diseased.

#3 attacks Stock. It misses.

#4 attacks Zanderallen. It misses

#5 attacks Zanderallen
Zanderallen is hit for 13 hp damage, and must make Fort save DC 16 or be diseased.

#6 attacks Zanderallen. It misses.

As Micah, Stock, and Zanderallen get closer to the leader, they’re minds are subjected to a feeling of great despair.
Micah, Zanderallen, and Stock make Will save DC 19 or be paralyzed with fear for 2 rounds, then shaken for the following 2 rounds. This is a mind-affecting fear affect.

The leader casts a spell. A cold, cloying miasma of greasy darkness envelopes the mummies, Stock, Micah, and Zanderallen.
While the mummies appear unaffected,
Micah, Zanderallen, and Stock take 18 points of damage, and are sickened for 3 rounds.
A successful Will save DC 20 reduces damage to half and negates the sickened effect.

Zanderallen almost seems to glow like a beacon as the blessing of Domi prove themselves in full effect. Steeled against fear and disease by holy protections he pushes through the onslaught of undead nastiness with only slight pause to heal his wounds. The mace continuing to hum in his hands as he pounds the undead in front of him. "Back to your proper rest abomination!"

Ongoing Effects: Magic Circle against Evil (Stock, Zanderallen and Micah), Paralyzed (1 more round, then shaken 2 rounds)

Stock takes a couple of blows from the mummies and grits his teeth through the gross feelings he feels assaulting his body. He's just about to call out a battle cry when time seems to slow down for him. His head shifts to the side and he catches a glimpse of the form in the background. It is staring at Stock. It knows it will kill the dwarf. For the first time in what may be decades, Stock knows fear.

Time speeds up again and he lamely raises an arm, only to waste height to fend off the blows that are sure to come. His mouth is dry, his eyes are red, and a scream is caught in his throat.

Bartomus moved forward sending the flaming sphere rolling ahead of him at the mummies on the left. He kept his focus on those on the left as his fellow shuelds rushed the center.

"Hmm, no I don't think so," Says Sid as he draws Lhysandri fires two quick shots off and then a third at the leader. Then he releases his deadliest attack; bad puns. "Hey Stock, if you tie those things up long enough, we're bound to get the best of them!"

Micah frowns in concentration, intent on winning this battle of dark and light as the magically spar back and forth.

Despite being bolstered by the paladin and his own protective spell, he in nearly overcome by the oppressive evil of their main adversary. He calls upon inner reserves to resist the fear that threatened to paralyze him with fear only to realize, that Stock succumbed to it.

Taking care to not let his guard down against the adjacent mummy, he casts remove fear on Stock adding its effects to Sid and himself.

Stohp moves through the door past Bart. Finally able to get a clear view of the enemy she stares for a moment. Yeah they probably weren't making peace with a lich and his mummies. She recovers and throws a Thunderstone at him (24 to hit square next to him, DC 15 fort to avoid being deafened)

Zanderallen, chock full of righteousness, lays about with his disrupting mace.
With his second blow, Mummy #4 more or less explodes. The pieces of it are consumed by fire and disappear before they hit the ground.

Stock succumbs to the leader’s aura, and is paralyzed with fear.

Dorbin takes a step closer to the door, and begins a summoning spell.

Bartomus sends his Flaming Sphere into Mummy #6
The creature is unable to avoid it, but despite the flames licking at it, it doesn't seem to be burning.

Sid fires three arrows at the leader.
It avoids them all.

Micah casts a spell without getting whacked, and suppresses the fear affecting Stock.
The dwarf finds he can move his limbs again.

Stohp moves into the room, and gets her first good look at who the group is dealing with. She abandons thoughts of negotiations, and throws a thunderstone that lands next to the leader. It explodes with a loud BANG, but the leader appears unaffected.

The mummy leader calls out some commands.

#1 continues attacking Stock, hitting him.
Stock takes 11 hp damage, and must make Fort save DC 16 or be diseased.

#2 attacks Stock, also hitting him.
Stock takes 18 hp damage, and must make Fort save DC 16 or be diseased.

#3 turns and attacks Zanderallen, missing.

#5 attacks Zanderallen, missing.

#6 takes a step away from the paladin and the Flaming Sphere.

The leader strides forward to just behind the gap Zanderallen has created in the line.
With unholy, glowing eyes, it regards the paladin balefully.
Then it opens its mouth, its lower jaw unhinging to an impossible angle.

With a roar, a cone of superheated sand erupts forth from its mouth, engulfing Zanderallen, Micah, Stock, Sid, Stohp, and Dirk.
Everybody except Bart and Dorbin take 28 hp damage and be blinded 5 rounds. Reflex DC 19 halves damage and no blindness.

Stohp dives out of the way and winces as the spell clips her (reflex 26). They need to disable that caster. She moves up and around (to Q9) giving Stock flanking and thumping a mummy with an unarmed strike. (23 to hit (forgot to add flanking bonus) and 3 damage)

Stock sucks in a breath through his teeth and is immediately bolstered by Micah's spell. And then the blows begin pummeling him. He swallows down the sick feeling in his stomach and then is absolutely leveled by a blast of sand knocking him flat.

Zanderallen grunts in triumph as the mummy in front of him vaporizes in a burst of fire. That triumph dissolves quickly as the abomination steps forth and opens it's jaw. Raising his shield with heroic reflexes he watches in horror as Stock goes down next to him, "MICAH! I'll cover you." Without a moment's hesitation Zander steps into the gap he created in the line, "DOMI smite thee!" is all he manages to yell as he starts laying into the leader with holy vengeance.

"Noooo!" cries Micah as he sees Stock go down, then overcome by the blast of heated sand, he no longer sees anything.

Blinded, surrounded by foes, allies in dire threats, the priest is suddenly filled with a dreadful clarity. Hoping that life still remains in the downed barbarian, he calls upon healing power. He then steps sideways away from the nearby mummy and continues to pull from deep reserves to call upon Domi to smite their evil foes.

Hefting his warhammer, and drawing upon his battle training, he readies to fight against any foes that may come near.

Dorbin knows that they're up against some really bad stuff, so he summons the most powerful thing he can summon. He points into the room and a tall human with a dog head and a very large sword appears right behind the mummy leader. It attacks with the massive sword, but the sword hits nothing but air. Dorbin says, "Yes!" when it appears, but slumps when it doesn't actually take the mummy's head off. Hoping to slow them down a bit, Dorbin reaches into a pocket and throws a chunk of butter at the battle.

Stock falls, only to regain consciousness moments later as Micah’s healing energy washes over him.
However, the dwarf is prone and blind.

Zanderallen steps forward, and attacks the leader. Unfortunately, both attacks miss.

Micah is also blinded, but still channels healing energy. The cleric then summons the energy to cast a spell.

Dorbin completes his spell, and a canine-headed humanoid carrying a polished greatsword appears. But, it does not appear where the conjurer designated, instead appearing next to at Sid at W15.
The Archon calls back over its shoulder to Dorbin in Celestial.
Sid translates - “It has protections cast! I cannot advance!”

Dirk - I still need the save roll from last round please.
28 hp damage and be blinded 5 rounds. Reflex DC 19 halves damage and no blindness.

Dirk asks if anyone needs healing. Quite a few of his comrades do.

Bartomus moves his Flaming Sphere back onto Mummy #6.
Again, the mummy is unable to avoid it. But again, the flames do not appear to affect the creature.

Blood in my mouth. That's a good sign. Stock spits; the tip of his tongue flies out of his mouth. He opens his eyes. I can't see. That's not a good sign. He hears the fighting all around him. He can hear Micah's grunts and the sliding of the plates of his armor over each other.

So the fight is happening around me. I'm a sitting duck in the middle and am blind. I will not die lying down.

His rage at last bubbles to the surface. The smells in the room fill his senses and between their sounds and their smells Stock knows where to go. HEAL ME DIRK!

He realizes that came out louder than intended but doesn't particularly care at the moment.

Zanderallen almost feels more than sees Micah's actions as the cleric opens himself as a vessel of divine power. 'We're going to need some more of that', he thinks as the mummies recoil from the holy energy. As much as he wants to continue going after the leader he knows that getting Stock up is a priority. He swings at the one he can reach, hoping it's blinded state will leave it vulnerable. Knowing it's needed he taps deep into inner reserves, unlocking and pouring out divine energy.

Stohp was going to try to wrestle the mummy leader to the ground and stop him from casting anymore. She hears the call to retreat though and turns back the other way. Realizing that Dirk is blinded and that others need healing she grabs him (somewhat roughly) and tries to guide him to the others. "It's me, I'll be your eyes" she says so he doesn't think she's a zombie and punch/stab her.

Rather belatedly, a patch of grease appears under Mummy #3 and Zanderallen.
Mummy 3 slips, and falls.

Blinded and singed badly, Sid stands fast, calling to the others to move behind his voice.

Instead, Micah moves forward, stepping in behind Zanderallen, casting a Prayer spell, and then finding the reserves to channel holy energy into the surrounding undead.

Blinded, but alive, Stock rages. The dwarf gets to his feet, drawing an attack from #2
But, the mummy misses.
He then retreats in what he hopes is the direction of Dirk, while bellowing for healing.

Zanderallen continues fighting like a madman. The paladin heals himself, attacks the prone #3, landing a blow, and then channels holy energy of his own.

Dirk cries out in pain as the effects of the leader’s earlier sand attack manifest themselves.
Dirk also lost 28 hp in that attack. Please update your header accordingly.

Dorbin tries to recall what spell might be causing the Archon to be unable to advance.
Unfortunately, things are too chaotic for the conjurer to concentrate properly, and he can’t think of what it is.
His acid dart sails wide.

Stohp grabs Dirk, and pulls the bard over to Stock.
Dirk can tell he’s next to three people, one really big who sounds like Stohp, one medium sized who sounds like Sid, and one short and stocky.

Zanderallen scrambles to protect multiple sides as the mummies regain sight and footing and renew their assault. He's been in a lot of tight places but this had got to be one of the worst. He just needed to keep standing until the blindness wore off the others and Stock got some healing. "The leader is calling forth cursed energy to heal them.', he passes on to those who might not be able to tell. Healing himself, even as he feels his inner reserves running low he keeps fighting doggedly on.

The taur slings a stone at #5 as well, but misses.

Zanderallen smacks #3 as it rises.
The undead creature explodes into nothingness.

The paladin heals himself again, and continues to strike out against the mummies crowding around him.
He hits #5.

Dorbin suggests the Archon tries going around.
The Archon moves clockwise along the wall for about 40’, and then returns.
“He has cast some type of Magic Circle Against Good,” the Archon guesses. “I possess a similar ability. Summoned creatures cannot enter.”

In the meantime, Dorbin tries another acid dart, but again misses.

Dirk drops his crossbow and grabs the lute slung around his belt and begins to play it with fury.
His inspirational song lifts everyone’s spirits.

Micah again blasts the undead with holy energy.
And again, summoning his reserves, he casts a spell. A glowing hammer appears above #1 and strikes.

The cleric then calls for Stock to move forward so that he can heal him.

Stohp is confused, but then decides to go with her original plan. The taur moves forward, and trips #1.

Micah takes a mighty blow at the mummy he senses is trying to stand up, hitting solidly with his warhammer.

Stock moves up next to Micah. He takes a hearty swing at #1, but misses.

Zanderallen smacks the rising #1, and then turns his sights on #5.
Upon connecting with the latter, his mace again glows and destroys the creature.

Micah also smacks the rising #1
The glowing warhammer smacks at the (standing) #1
And then, Micah channels more healing power, and again calls on his reserves to Enlarge Stock

Dorbin calls on the Archon to help Stock, but unfortunately, the dwarf has already moved off.
The Archon instead casts the Aid spell on Sid
Sid +1 on attack rolls, save vs fear plus 7 temporary hit points.

The conjurer casts an Acid Arrow at the leader. It connects, but doesn't seem to inflict any damage.

Stohp shakes off the attempted spell, and closes on the leader.
She attempts to grab it, but the leader slips free.

Sid launches a hail of arrows at the leader.
One hits. But much like Dorbin's attack, it doesn't appear to do any damage.

With #5 now gone, Bartomus has to fire at #6. The sling stone hits.

Dirk continues playing as furiously as he can, continuing to inspire his comrades.

The remaining mummies continue to focus on Zanderallen.

#6 hits him again.
Zanderallen takes 16 hp damage

As Stohp approaches the leader, she becomes aware of sheer magnitude of his power.
Stohp Will save DC 19 or be paralyzed with fear for 3 rounds, then shaken for the following 3 rounds.

The leader casts another spell. It grows in size, until it too, is large. Pulling out a very large and wicked looking spear, it glowers at the Shields.

Bartomus stepped forward along the wall and came to a stop where he could see the battle better in an effort to help in some different way. He pushed the sphere at the mummy his bullet had hit in hopes of something affecting it. He tried slinging another bullet at the mummy that Micah was battling, but the bullet went wide. "Dirk, do you think a bolt of lightening could help?"

Move to V12 next to Dirk. Sphere at 6 - reflex save 17 avoids 13 points damage, but they have been avoiding it all along. ;-) Sling attack, 9 - wizzes somewhere into the room.

The light continues to separate itself from the dark. "Hoho. I can almost see you. This will be fun..." He sucks in a breath between his teeth when Micah's healing hits him and then he hears Zanderallen talking somewhere past Micah.

"I hate being blind!" In frustration he pounds in the direction of the zombie he can smell nearby but the reverberating impact sounds more like impacts to the floor than a half rotting mummy body. He steps past Micah and realizes he must be next to a blazing inferno.

As Bart moves around, the archon moves over to him and touches him with additional magical help. Dorbin shakes his head at the effect of his spell on the big mummy and decides to try and hit one of the other mummies with a small blob of acid.

Concentrating hard on audial and tactile cues, Micah senses another mummy has been disrupted. Realizing that only one remains threatening him, he steps to the side and reaches back to Stock, releasing healing energy into him.

Bart moves into the chamber next to Dirk. The taur pushes the Flaming Sphere into #6, and then misses with a sling stone.
The mummy does not move away from the flaming sphere, which still does not seem to be affecting it.

Stohp is paralyzed with fear, and doesn’t move.

Zanderallen calls for Stock to join him, and then takes a couple swings at #6.

Stock steps forward and swings, but cannot find the elusive mummy.

The archon casts Aid on Bartomus.

Dorbin takes a step, and casts acid dart at mummy 6. It hits.

Micah finds his 5’ step is blocked by the fact that Stock is already standing there.
Nevertheless, the cleric spontaneously casts a healing spell on the dwarf that helps out considerably.

His Spiritual weapon hits mummy 1 twice. The mummy soundlessly collapses to the floor.

The leader casts another spell. Just in front of Sid erupts a multicolored explosion of leaping, ricocheting energy. The bolts impact everyone but Zanderallen, Micah, and Stohp.

Micah squints and blinks furiously, clearing the last of the blinding sand from his eyes just in time to see his spiritual hammer finish the nearest mummy. He mentally directs it to the next mummy on his right.
“I’ve about had enough of you, he mutters as he calls upon Domi to empower his attacks.
As he finishes the spell a faint blue nimbus surrounds his body and azure tendrils dance along his physical hammer, matching the color of his spiritual one. A broad grin erupts on his sterling face.

Stock wipes sweat off his brow and when he removes his hand, he realizes he can see again. "There you are! Haha I'm getting stronger!"

He takes a crow hop and two giant swings with his flail. And then advances on the big mummy.

If the mummy is down before the turn starts.

Stock advances on the spellcaster with a wicked grin in his eye. He feels the pressing pain of fear in his chest but manages to push through it. He brings his flail up and swings almost straight through the thing. He bellows out a curse and screams at the thing in frustration.

Micah shifts his Spiritual Weapon to #2, where it connects soundly against the mummy.
The cleric then casts a spell on himself.

Bartomus feels the effects of the leader’s spell. The taur pushes his flaming sphere toward the throne. It rolls up to the throne, but thus far appears to have no effect on it.
Please note in header that Bartomus is slowed: Can take only a single move action or standard action each turn, but not both (nor may it take full-round actions). Additionally, it takes a –1 penalty on attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves. A slowed creature moves at half its normal speed (round down to the next 5-foot increment).

Zanderallen heals himself, and then lands two solid blows on #6, but it doesn't drop or disintegrate.

A condition which lasts about two seconds.
Stock ignores the spell cast by the leader.
The dwarf takes a crow hop, and with two giant swings with his flail, smashes #6 to teeny tiny bits.
He then advances on the leader.

The archon reaches over and magically aids Dirk.
Dorbin actually pulls out his crossbow.

Dirk continues to play, aiding his comrade’s morale immensely.
Recommend you keep posting the bonuses you’re providing everyone, so that they have it in front of them

Barely conscious, Sid contemplates his next move.
Aid spell on Sid was a couple rounds ago, so that +7 counted. Sid should be at 1 hp

Stohp remains paralyzed with fear.

As Stock advances on the leader, he could swear it grins. Then, the creatures jaw again unhooks at that impossible angle.
Once more, a blast of sand and heat engulf the leading trio.

Zanderallen, bruised and battered but still standing, manages to just raise his shield in time to block the worst of the sand with a heroic surge. Seeing all the mummies gone he calls out, "Can anyone dispel his fire resistance? I thought mummies were supposed to burn." Seeing no real chance of disrupting the leader he drops the mace and pulls out his more comfortable sword as he moves up, flames igniting along it's length as he draws it. Stepping through Stock's space to avoid the grease he moves into the leader still the subject of his smite. He takes one swing but it fails to inflict any damage.

The archon scrambles around and touches Dorbin, the only one in range he hasn’t helped, and aids him as well. Dorbin takes aim with his crossbow and pulls the trigger. The massive weapon makes an incredible noise and Dorbin almost drops the thing. The crossbow bolt flies through the air and sticks in the ceiling. Dorbin shrugs and prepares another bolt.

Micah's spiritual hammer attacks the mummy leader with a vengeance.

The priest engages directly, moving forward to strike the undead menace himself. His blow lands soundly, but not strike solidly enough to do damage. Nonetheless, Micah's eyes shine with suppressed fury as he engages his unholy foe and prepares to attack should the creature attempt to disengage.

Dirk’s fingers may ache, but they continue to dance over the strings. His song continues to inspire.

Zanderallen bats away the spear thrust, and responds with a savage stroke of his own. The fire does not appear to be damaging the creature. But the smite evil part works great, as the sword tears through its skin like butter.

The archon disappears.
Dorbin appears to be a bit out of practice with the whole crossbow thing.

The Spiritual Weapon pounds on the creature, though Micah can tell it is not doing nearly as much damage as it should be.
Micah himself moves up to get personal.

Micah's fierce grin broadens as he sees Zanderallen move to a flanking position. Relieved that Bartomus' flaming sphere is out of the way, the priest moves to his side to take advantage of the paladin's new position.

He directs all his energy, magical and martial, into defeating their profane foe. A guttural sound releases from deep in his throat and his grin transforms into a stern frown of determination as not a single blow penetrates its defenses.

Dirk switches into a high tempo rendition of the classic song "The Bone Town Brawler".

Zanderallen moves around the leader, getting into flank.
The leader tries to pierce him with the spear, but misses.
The paladin returns the favor by missing on his own attack.

But the movement has the leader surrounded, and Stock takes advantage by slamming him hard.

Micah also moves into flank, and brings his war hammer to bear. But, he is unable to provide a damaging blow.

Dorbin again misses with a crossbow bolt.

Bartomus calls down lightning on the leader. Unfortunately, that appears to have no effect at all.

Stohp tries tripping the leader, but can’t quite get enough torque into it.

Sid draws his short sword and runs to join his comrades.
As the elf approaches the leader, he finds himself fighting back fear and despair.
Sid - Will Save DC 19 or be paralyzed with fear for 3 rounds, then shaken for the following 3 rounds.

As the mummy falls to the onslaught of blows Zanderallen can almost cry. And almost does as the pain from all his wounds starts hitting him as the adrenaline wears off. Half stumbling, he walks over and picks up Micah's mace from where he dropped it earlier in the fight. "I name this weapon Micah's mighty mace of mummy massacring.", his laugh as he looks at the piles of dust, the only remains of three of the mummies hit by the mace, turns into a gasp of pain. Looking down at a particularly large mummy fist shaped dent in his plate armor Zander says, "Definitely bruised, if not cracked. Anybody have any healing left, I'm afraid I've got very little left in me." Zander hands Micah back his mace, any additional power gone from it.

Micah stares at the fallen mummy leader, breathing in great, deep gasps, not quite ready to accept that the battle is over.

As his friends speak, he comes out of his daze and takes a look around, assessing the health of each of the Silver Shields. Seeing the extent of their wounds, he takes a deep breath and moves next to Stock.

"None of us fared well in this fight, but you seem to have taken the worst of it," he says as he gently reaches out to touch the barbarian's wounded arm. Calling upon his god, Micah transfers more healing power into Stock. "It is not much, he apologizes, but I am running on reserves here. He then steps to Zanderallen and repeats the process.

He then pulls out his wand to continue healing, explaining "We cannot yet assume we are safe here."

Stohp, sitting at a whopping 4 health, just leans over and breathes heavily for a while. Her entire body is covered in cuts and scorch marks from the negative energy and her leather armor has a few new bloodstains. Most of it she hadn't felt due to the Adrenalin, but she was certainly feeling it now. She sort of waves at Micah, trying to indicate she desires the healing but to out of breath to say so out loud.

Bruised, battered, bleeding, and generally sore all over, the Silver Shields evaluate the situation.

The mummies and their leader are dead.
Bartomus suggest burning them.

Sid takes a few moments, then sets about stacking mummy bodies with Dirk - after giving them a thorough searching, of course.

Both Bartomus and Micah break out healing potions and wands.

The throne is a stone chair, and is not magical.

"Stohp!," exclaims Micah suddenly realizing how injured his longest companion is. He immediately rushes toward the wounded minotaur and heals her. Then he continues to heal the others with his wand.

"Those are mummies and a mummy lord. Powerful Undead but once slain the will not revive," Micah explains to the others.

Zanderallen waits for some of the others to be healed before stepping in to get a couple more zaps from the wand. "Feels like the wand running a little thin. That will be good for now. While the mummies don't regenerate I still think we should still burn the corpses. The leader did this to himself and likely the soldiers had no choice. Freeing their bodies from this desecration should help the soldiers rest in the afterlife and send the leader to his just rewards. We might have to burn them outside this room if their fire proofing is linked to some unholy aura."

Satisfied that no one is immediately in danger, Micah allows himself a chance to reflect on their situation. He sees that Dorbin is attempting to discern the nature of the magic items and takes a look at a couple of items the wizard is struggling with, but sees quickly that his knowledge in such things has little to add.

"Once we are finished here, we will need to make sure we have fully explored. I think we are mostly done, but I am not willing to assume we are finished yet," he says as he finishes checking the items.

Bartomus and Stohp mess around with the boxes, without success.

Then, Sid comes over and runs his hands over the boxes. The elf feels a hidden spring. Pressing it, he find the box splits in half and opens of it own accord.
Inside is no magic.
But, there are 10 bars of pure gold shining out at the group.

Sid quickly finds the same thing in the other box

(total value of gold bars is 30,000 gp)

Eventually, the group gets back to exploring the ziggaraut.
Stock and Sid find that while within the chamber there are no traps, on the hallway side, each of the doors is identically trapped with that pressure plate.

Knowing what to look for, they are easily able to disarm them.

The also find a couple more staircases off the exterior side of the hallway, leading to the next two levels.
Each of these levels are like the first two, empty.
The top floor does have switches for skylights, and a central stair leading up to a garden like roof.

It appears the quest has come to a successful conclusion.

When Sid came and joined them, Bartomus was amazed at how quickly the carved boxes opened. He was even more surprised when the light hit the bars and gleamed. The gleam bounced light about the room. "Gold, look at all of that gold."

He was just amazed at the gold. It was a lot of gold. He followed the others about, and kept thinking about the building, the gold, the building and the Ratkins.

"Um, folks, so, wouldn't this make like the perfect place for the Ratkin to move to and occupy? Plus, the gold, well some of it, could be used for the passage. We help them with the housing and the passage, that would at least let us know they got here safely, right?"

With the building fully cleared Zander just has one my cause for concern, "Dorbin you said there was a a magical aura in that upper room, around the throne. That isn't some sort of unhallowed place is it? If so that probably needs to be dispelled before the ratfolk move in. And I think the gold is ours for the taking Bart. Paragon Lord Belkior already promised the full support of the Temple of Alemni to relocate the ratfolk. So their expenses are covered.

He blinks multiple times as he contemplates the extent of the wealth before them. "Lukas is going to hate this, he thinks to himself as he imagines telling his older brother about this recent windfall.

He then considers the aura Dorbin and Zanderallen are referring to."The type of aura is consistent with an unhallow effect. If it is, then it definitely needs to be dealt with, but countering that is beyond my ability. Perhaps someone back at Lakeview can assist.'

She pauses to marvel at the absurd expenses that come from a life of adventuring. Her armor alone was probably worth enough that she could live off it for the rest of her life.

Stohp has some existential issues, but the rest of the Shields find the prospect of a mess of gold to be very appealing.

Some will recall, like Zanderallen, that Lord Paragon Belkior did promise to finance the beastfolk's expedition.
And others may recall that Jasper offered the group whatever they found in the building as payment for their services.

The only real question is what to do about this spell effect in the chamber.
Micah will know that an Unhallow spell is temporary, unless it was made permanent. Maybe the group will get lucky?

For no apparent reason, the group decides to wait a day in the area, and then recheck the chamber.
When they do, they find the spell effect has expired.
There is no further magic in the chamber.

So, nothing is really stopping the group from returning to the beastfolk and giving them the good news.

Before they settle down for the night Zander raises a concern, "Was anyone other than myself hit by one of the mummy's fists? They are carries of a cursed disease known as mummy rot. As one of his paladins, Domi grants me protection from such afflictions but I would hate for one of you to be infected and us not take the proper steps to cure it. I have the ability to cure disease but Micah I will need help with the curse part" Zander tries to remember symptoms of mummy rot but either everyone is clean or he slept in that day at temple school.

Sleeping soundly after the hard fight of the day before Zander prepares to attempt any disease curing needed before setting off to guide the beastfolk to their new home.

Zanderallen and Micah check their comrades for signs of mummy rot, but somehow everyone escaped that particular fate.

Relieved, the Silver Shields retrace their path. Again, the forest is devoid of anything dangerous, and in seven days, the group arrives at the former location of Perimon.

The beastfolk have moved wholesale to the small clearing.
Several large tents have been set up, as well as a cooking area.
There are also several heavily laden, multi wheeled wagons. And a corral holds oxen.

A welcoming party, led by Jasper, meets the group;

"Did you find it?" They ask eagerly. "Were the witches right?"

He paused before they left the clearing with its meticulous grass and trees, looked back at the black structure and made sure he had a good mental image of the place they had been. It would be that mental image that he would use to translate into another carved panel sometime in the future.

As they spent their time working their way back to the beastfolk, he shared some about where he had come from and the lack of forests. Where they were now was so different. Eventually, they found themselves back amongst the folk and all of their wagons, animals and such.

"It's going to be a pretty good place for folks to settle," Bartomus added to Dirk's comments. "Suspect that you all will find ways to use the place we couldn't even imagine. Not the Float, but might be better than the Float."

Zander gives the place one last sweep before they leave just to satisfy his mind everything is safe for the beastfolk to move into. Convinced at last he is in good spirits as they walk back, he readily engages Bart in conversation about where he grew up. Having been born and raised on the Fence level of the Float it wasn't until adventuring he had ever set foot out the city.

When Jaspar comes out Zander can't restrain himself and gives Jaspar a hug, so filled with joy at the good news for their old friend. "Jaspar it's going to be perfect for you and your people. The witches were right in every detail, including their warning but we took care of that. Just follow this trail straight back and in 7 days you'll come to your new home, you can't miss it."

Dirk takes out his small leather-bound book and a small shaved piece of coal and begins to sketch the landscape of the place they just left. He sketches away as he sits on the ground, resting himself.

Micah watches apprehensively as Zanderallen examines the site for further threats, then releases the breath he did not realize he was holding when the paladin announces the area clear.

On the journey back, Micah recalls the battle with the mummy lord and its memories, finding satisfaction in the power of his faith and his fellow Shields' skills having overcome that ancient evil.

Zanderallen beats Micah in sharing the good news with their old friend. Micah steps forward and gives a hug of his own. "Your new housing is several steps up from the walls of the Silver Shields' headquarters", he tells their old butler with a grin as he steps back from the embrace.

Sid helps "clarify" on Stohp's report, and gives Jasper a firm handshake and they aren't as well antiquated, "It'll be a fine place. You'll have a hard time keeping the lawn as well managed as it is... or was, but it should be a fine place indeed. Honestly I'll be interested to see how you and yours spruce it up. some window boxes and orchards and it will be the envy of the area. Well lady and gents if the magic hour is over I've got to go shower and mind the shop!" Sid makes a winding run around the float, getting food for super, a paper or two, and talking to some of his old regulars he sees in the market. He sends a runner down to check on the grannies(witches) that have been helping them and to make sure the lad he had helping them is still alright and finally makes his way home where he cleans up, makes super and fills Elly in on all of the exciting adventures he had, and playing down how hard the final fight was.

Dorbin heads back to the HQ at the float and plops down in a comfy chair. "That was exhausting." Emily Jasmine shows up and plops on his lap.

Stock follows Dorbin into the HQ and says, "You got that right Dorbin. Say, how come when we're outside this building you are always in the back but when we get home, you're always the first one through the door and can claim that chair? HA! Got ya didn't I!"

Stock makes it up the stairs to his room and lays down to relax, doing his best to forget the fear he experienced at the hand of the tomb lord.

Seeing the beastfolk on their way to their new home, Zander is glad to be heading back to his home and the known comfort of the Float. Still something unsettling about not having a ceiling over one's head. After getting back he pays a visits to the Smith's forge to get some of the dents worked out of his plate armor. Not entirely necessary but mummy fists were unnaturally hard and had made some unsightly marks.

If given the chance after rest and getting cleaned up Zander invites anyone interested to join him in going to thank Paragon Lord Belkior and let him know that the beastfolk had a happy home ready for them. He promises his aid in gratitude if it is ever needed, "I may serve Domi, but I don't think he'd mind if I performed a service for Alemni in thanks for what you did for our friends. Getting them out of the float safely could have been quite difficult. But now they have a new home ready for them."

He also goes through the magic items with everyone and sorts out the gold. He hands everyone a large sack of gold, or leaves it in their room if their not available. Zander's sack is much smaller but he explains, "With the sale of the ring and spear we'll have just over 40,000gp, or 5,000 each in an 8 way split. The two items are worth just over 2000 so I'll take them instead of an equivalent amount of gold, that way the merchants down in the catacombs can just give me a single receipt."
