3: Scales and Tales

DM Robert - Day 7&8 - " If creatures like this are moving into the forest you made need them to keep yourselves safe."
Wednesday September 19th, 2018 8:47:31 PM

Dirk pops out the cave but doesn't see much.

Dorbin sees nothing much more than what has already happened, and then does some appraising.

Bartomus identifies some things and gets a good feeling about the cave.

Stohp thinks it's a good cave.

Stock doesn't think much of the housecleaning. And Yes there are mountains to the east.
The exploration map.

Micah makes an offer.

Zanderallen follows up on the offer.

Sid wants to make sure nothing is missed.
Just to be sure, all the loot has been identified.
3 masterwork drow short swords,
3 steel bucklers,
2 longswords,
2 battle axes dwarven made, masterwork,
2 golden armbands 500 gp each,
1 silver pendant 100 gp,
2 pearl earrings 50gp.

Micah and Zanderallen offer the weapons and bucklers to the Lizard Folk. 1 Hero Point to everyone in the party at this gesture of heroism.

Nightshade is grateful for the gifts. "You are like a welcome breath of spring. These weapons will certainly help us. We must mark this. We offer you meat from the kill." You are pretty sure from your days spent with the Lizard Folk youths, that sharing of meat is a sign of acceptance and welcoming. Apparently one of the problems the Lizard Folk have been having since the slaying of the dragon is getting enough meat to sustain the village.

The Lizard youths are detailed to clean out the cave. Stalker Buttercup looks the cave over and says one word in Draconic that your translators are able to translate, "Fey" The meal is prepared. At first the Lizard Folk are a bit dubious about 'cooking' the meat.

Group Survival Roll checks to see how well you do, if you have Profession Cook you may use that roll. High roll is lead, all other rolls that apply aid other.

The next day Nightshade leads you south. You start going up in elevation slightly. It is a gradually rising hill but it is still forest and still cool and the sunlight is often hidden. It is well past the noon hour when at last you are in front of a large thorny hedge. It is a thick hedge, you cannot see through it, and the thorns appear 1 inch long, and in some places longer. It looks like the hedge is 15 feet high. Nightshade leads you around the hedge and you note an opening with a rough hewn wooden double door. He calls out and the doors are opened after a bit.
Perception 20 Highlight to display spoiler: {You can hear the scrapping of wood on wood, there is probably a bar across the doors.}
Craft carpentry 15 Highlight to display spoiler: {The door appears solid, but you note no nails in the rough hewn planks. They might be glued or pinned together.}

This is the village of the Lizard Folk it seems fairly well laid out. There are 30 ‘family’ huts, and 5 more larger huts, made of rough hewn wood, and sometimes just bamboo poles lashed together for walls, and some sort of thatch. The village is surrounded by the hedge row. There are several trees in the village as well. You can faintly hear a gurgling and looking around spot a spring bubbling out of a low rock formation.
Perception 20 Highlight to display spoiler: {The interior of the hedge could support more huts, it is evident that there may have been more huts at one time but they have been removed. Probably salvaged for parts of other huts. the village is about 2/3's the size of what it could be.}

Nightshade introduces you to a lizard man decked out in strings of claws, and flowers. He goes into a rapid description of the events of your meeting. He then puts the weapons and bucklers at the Lizard's feet. You are now introduced. Nightshades says, "This is Slythyl the leader of the village."

Slythyl turns to you and says in common. "I thank you for saving the lives of our hunters and for the kindness you showed our youths. There is much to speak of and say to one another. Tonight we shall have feast and taste the scent of your speech."
Perception 15, Highlight to display spoiler: {there are several lizard folk around watching the goings on.}
If you perceived the above or had it pointed out to you... Sense Motive 20 Highlight to display spoiler: { not all of them seem happy to see the humans (and dwarf) }

Next post the feast. If there are things you want to ask during the dinner, now is the time to post your questions...

PS John, if you make the rolls let me know and I will translate the hightlight.
