As visits to your sister's go, that's pretty good.
Good job guys on posting in the GG over the holidays. Not only were we the first game to have 4 posters as required, we got all of us in there before the deadline this coming Saturday. Like Cayzle said, low level gifts are WAY more potent in our low level hands so let's see what we can do with the prize when they award it shall we?

TOTALLY OOC--A Special Message from DM Donna
Sunday January 5th, 2014 1:23:00 AM

Greetings, Agents!

I am pleased to inform you that your game qualifies to receive a very Special Yuletide Magic Gift because ALL of you players posted in the Giggling Ghost during the recent Yuletide Festival!

Because of your speed and participation in the Festivities, EACH of you may add the following to your PC's Character Sheet:

One cut-crystal bottle containing a fruity blue potion: it's a Cure Light Wounds potion--but it's one that has been personally brewed by the current Head Cleric of the Clearspring Temple on Centaur Island. That means when you drink THIS potion, the imbiber gets to roll a d8+5 to determine the effects of the curing!

This potion was won at the Yuletide Festival in the Giggling Ghost and its magic will expire on January 5, 2015.

Congratulations to everyone in the Agents of the Fist Game! Please DO note that, as a special Magic Gift won through either the Lotto or the Yuletide Festival, the following rules will apply to this particular item:

1) A PC may have no more than 5 magical "Gifts" at a time. This includes, among other things, Lotto items and Yuletide gifts.

2) All magical "Gifts" have a 12 month expiration date and must be labeled on the PC sheet with the date they were received. When magical gifts expire, they do not disappear, but turn into mundane non-magical items. PCs can still keep them as non-magical items for sentimental/RP value.

3) Non-magical gifts do not expire and you may keep as many as you want.

Congratulations, Agents--and thank you for helping to make this year's Yuletide Festival so very special!

8)

Monday January 6th, 2014 12:15:15 PM

Post is incoming. Due to my new time zone (3 hours behind EST) the posting might be a bit wonky today, but I'll have it figured out for tomorrow. Today's post is gonna be a doozy, so watch out.

DM Ian - Welcome to Haggard's
Monday January 6th, 2014 4:33:13 PM

When we last left our heroes, they had entered Cheerful Stay after being assaulted by undead along the road there. Upon reaching the village, it appeared they had fallen under the same fate, with many buildings damaged and bordered up. The most noticeable one was Haggard's Inn, which they then entered after a short conversation with the owner, a mountain of a man called Haggard. We pick up where we left off as the Fist walked into the establishment...

Carver sheathes his weapon as he walks into the inn, knowing that it would be seen as a sign of aggression. However, he keeps his shield handy, an old sign of defensiveness. He receives no reply as most people turn back to their drinks and conversations.

Prudence worries about the horses, but an older woman quickly steps past the group, muttering, "I'll take care of 'em. Hope you're not too attached, we've lost half a dozen of 'em to those things already.

Cameron scans the crowd, taking in the strange situation. Most noticeable of all are the weapons that everyone seem to be carrying. None of them seem particularly well-made, save for the sword held by their host. After clambering up to the bar he can just see over, some food is ordered from a grumpy looking cook, a young man with eyes that may have been bright earlier on in his life. Barely anyone pays attention to the story he tells, and at one point, someone actually turns around and asks him to be quiet. He allows his Sergeants to take over from there.

Bliss sends a few messages to his allies, including Sergeant Helmbane. The dwarf turns to glance at the small-than-usual Halfling, nodding ever-so-slightly to indicate that he noticed the same thing. He dashes into the building, hiding under a table and dodging feet to remain hidden.

Tinker notices the high ceiling, curious as to why they would be in a place like this. When he asks the patrons, they simply shrug. One mutters, "Ask Haggard, it's his inn." Whether or not these people are hostile or ignorant, the dwarf cannot tell. When he asks about the undead, a grim smile grows on one man's face while the others grow silent. "Seen the undead? Wow, you folks really are new around here. More miners, huh? Doesn't surprise me." The table Tinker is speaking to consists of a skinny half-elf with brown hair, a bald human man, and a redheaded dwarf that seems to be interested in nothing more than reaching the bottom of his mug.

Nikolai asks for permission to go with the horses, which is quickly granted to him. "But make it back quickly. I want you here in case we need you," Trimmack mutters. The half-elf accompanies an older woman outside to help with the horses. Ask they speak, she seems to have little interest in talking, answering in short sentences. When he tips her the gold, she looks at it and shakes her head. "Don't know who you are, but you can't buy me. I don't need your gold." With that, she strides to the front door and rings the bell. She is promptly let in (presumably with Nikolai on her heels.)

William also notices that the place it built rather oddly, and notices the heavy armament being carried by the people here. He volunteers to help with the horses, and gets as much information from the woman as Nikolai does.

Linden heads to the bar for a drink, quickly noticing the one friendly person in the place. The young human woman greets him with a warm smile. "I'm usually the only happy one in here. My name's Hope, my dad owns this place." She laughs as he continues, mentioning, "Someone else put the sign up. It made Daddy laugh, so he left it up. Not really sure why, he usually never laughs." She eyes the mushroom oddly, but says nothing about it. Like her father, Hope is a human with long, dark hair and bright green eyes.

The Sergeants stay near Haggard, having a quiet conversation with the enormous man. One of the innkeeper's hands remained on his sword, but it quickly falls as the two speak with him. There is a lot of nodding and a few chuckles between the three men before they all walk towards the bar, sitting down next to each other. Trimmack gestures to all of you to join them, and Hope makes her way over as well. Someone calls out, "'Bout time you hired some muscle for this, Haggard!" The burly man turns quickly and barks, "I ain't got the gold to hire these folks, Watson! Maybe if you paid you tab, I actually would!" The room quiets down for a moment before resuming the usual buzz of conversation. Apparently, Haggard commands as much respect (or fear) as one would expect.

Cameron, already at the bar, gets another tankard of mead and shares his bar food with any of the Fist that wants some. It beats trail rations and at least it is warm. He wasn't able to catch much of what was said between the sergeants and Haggard (or was he? Perception 13 to read lips Sense motive 22 to interpret their posture and body language) so he remains wary. However he is pretty sure, but not 100% yet, that the crowd won't try to kill them... yet. Because of this he slings his shield.

Quietly, Prudence moves to join the sergeants at the bar. She's not sure she understands what's going on. Where are all the undead coming from? Who is this Haggard person, and why to the townsfolk seem to think the undead are his responsibility? If Haggard didn't pay for the Fist's presence here, who did?

She stands uneasily near the bar, fidgeting from foot to foot. She's not sure what to do with her hands. "What's going on?" she murmurs.

"Not buying you," he glares at her. "Just paying for the use of your barn and the fodder for the horses. Geez, woman."

The bribe unsuccessful, Nikolai is puzzled at the behavior of these people. Beset by undead, they seem to suspicous of the living.

Once back in side, Nikolai whispers to Trimmack that he believes a Fist should keep guard over the horses each half of the night. Then he asks "Has this place always been this way towards travelers? Hasn't the Fist come through here often enough over the decades that they would treat us more like customers rather than persons of suspicious intent?

DM Ian - Welcome to Haggard's
Tuesday January 7th, 2014 11:52:00 AM

Cameron gets some more food from the grumpy cook, sharing his food with any of his friends. As he opens his mouth to ask for payment, Haggard waves him away, much to the cook's displeasure. The halfling is unable to overhear anything from the conversation between the three men, but he is able to see that the conversation moved into a more relaxed tone about halfway through. The men shared a laugh before sitting down at the bar.

Prudence joins them at the bar, unsure of what might be going on and who hired them. The cook from behind the bar quickly approaches her, a large smile on his face as he asks, "Can I get you anything, miss? Meat? Mead? Wine? Apparently, it's all free."

Carver orders a shocking amount of wine, bringing the cook back down to his usual depressed self as he pours them.

Tinker saunters over, still sore from their battle in the woods.

Bliss remains hidden in the shadows, still unnoticed by any and all people in Haggard's Inn.

Nikolai whispers his idea of guarding the horses to Trimmack, catching up to the human before they reach the bar, who nods slowly. "Get anyone else who feels up to it on a rotation. Maybe we can get these people on our good side if we stave off an attack on the horses." As for his other question, his Sergeant simply shakes his head. "I have no idea when the Fist was here last. I don't think it's that we're from the Organization... I think these folks are just scared out of their minds."

Linden joins the group at the bar, followed quickly by Hope, who orders herself a wine. The cook pours one hesitantly for her, keeping his eyes on Haggard, who does not seem to notice or care.

As the group settles at the bar, Haggard looks at each of you, gauging you as he does so. "Been a long time since we've seen any Mailed Fist up here," he comments, grimacing as he does so. "I was hoping some adventurers would show up soon, but to be frank, I was hoping it wouldn't be a bunch of mercenaries."

"Daddy, you don't have to be so harsh, I'm sure they're here to help," the green-eyed girl comments, already halfway done her glass of wine. "And even if they aren't, they're caught up in this just like we are."

"It's not just like we are, Hope," the man growls, one of his hands balling into a fist. "We..." He sighs heavily, shaking his head. "Gods, it's been such a long day. And tomorrow is gonna be just as long. Listen, I know you're not here for these things, and I have no idea who hired you, but any that you come across, feel free to kill. You can keep whatever you find on 'em, no one minds. Most o' these folks seem to be comin' right outta the ground, bringin' up whatever they were buried with. No one'll miss it."

"Thank you, Haggard," Trimmack mutters, nodding his head slowly. "Do you mind if we ask around a bit? About what we're looking for?" The innkeeper shrugs in a way that indicates he likely doesn't care, standing slowly and looking out across the inn. "Alright, I'm off for the night," he calls out. For the first time since you have all arrived, everyone quiets down, turning their attention to Haggard. "You have your watches, I'll be back in the morning. Anyone else shows up, come and wake me before you let them in." With that, he turns and walks towards the stairs, rubbing his eyes sleepily.

The sergeants turn to the rest of you. Trimmack takes a deep breath before continuing. "Alright, Fist. I know this is... difficult, but we still have a job to do. We need to track down that stolen magic item and get it back to the Citadel ASAP. These... things are just another challenge."

"And whatever the lot of you might think," Helmbane speaks up. "We're not here to save these people. We aren't heroes, we're mercenaries. We kill any of the undead that get in our way, and leave the rest. Understood?"

Trimmack grimaces, shaking his head. "As much as I hate to say it, I agree. This is an important mission that needs to get done quickly. Some of you go talk to the townsfolk, see if you can get any information out of them about what's going on. Anyone injured can..."

"Oh, if there's injured, I can help." Hope suddenly pokes her head into the conversation, smiling. "I have a little magic left from today, just show me your wounded and I'll see what I can do."

" Oh, we're all wounded ma'am, but some of us got rudely awakened while wearing naught but a nightshirt and then soundly beaten into unconsciousness." Cameron smiles at Tinker to let the dwarf know he is joking. Rough humor was after all, a dwarven style of humor and camaraderie. He suddenly regrets it, since Tinker didn't grow up a dwarf, he may not know Cameron is joking.
If mass healing happens Cameron will partake. If it is targeted healing he will not, he is healed enough that he doesn't want a spell someone else may NEED used on him. (HINT: a Channel Energy in here with all these tired and possibly wounded folks may get us a heck of alot of goodwill) Once the healing is done Cameron heads out into the crowd. He knows what he wants to ask based on the undead they faced and some of the old-timers answers to things they have told the townsfolk, he just needs to find the right people to ask.
Cameron circulates with the older folks in the place, dwarves and gnomes if there are any ( I recall 1 dwarf being mentioned). He asks where there are mines in the area, or where the dead from any mines might be. A mine would hold miners, dead or otherwise and an abandoned mine would be a great place for thieves, the people they were really looking for here, to hide.
He also asks if this undead incursion is normal or if it just started recently. They were hired to find a stolen magic item, a book no less. The undead and the item are pretty surely linked in Cameron's mind.

Cameron will also volunteer to stand another watch in the stable, so long as he can do it from the rafters. From there, strapped into the rafters he should be out of reach of the undead and able to shoot any that show up. He DOES need some sleep tonight to be able to relearn spells.

If it looks like Cameron will get the chance to rest and relearn spells he will cast a CLW on the most hurt party member he can. CLW for 5

If these folk don't pay and the group does a job anyways, why be mercenaries at all? Still, Hope did him a favor, and Tinker repays his favors. He tucks that into the back of his mind for the next opportunity.

Cameron's jibe is seen for the joke it is: they have been together long enough for it not to sting, but Tinker was never quick on the comeback, so he settles for a shove and a friendly growl.

Wednesday January 8th, 2014 2:31:03 AM

Just to remind everyone -- it is just past midnight right now, as you were all awoken halfway through the night when you were attacked.

Cameron moves over towards some townsfolk, hoping to gather some information from them about the current situation. See below for more...

Carver passes on the healing, instead downing the copious amounts of wine he ordered. When he asks for a place to stay, Hope pipes up and says, "We've got a couple empty rooms upstairs, but most of you'll have to share. Luckily, you're the only centaurs in the place, so you can get the bigger rooms." She hands Carver and anyone else who asks for one a key, directing them to the top of the staircase to take the last door on the right or left.

The rooms are, again, surprisingly large with high ceilings. There are four beds per room that can have a medium creature sleep in it plus accommodations for a centaur in each room. Helmbane takes his key and goes upstairs immediately while Trimmack volunteers for part of the watch on the stable.

Tinker gladly accepts the healing, taking the watch closest to the middle of the night, which would be now, as you were all awoken rather early. The only other person in the stables is a rather untalkative and still man who stands near the entrance with a wood axe in his hands. Does the dwarf make any attempt at conversation with him? (Tinker is healed for 9HP.)

Prudence offers to help the young cook in the kitchen. Despite the fact that she stutters over her words a bit, likely due to the general exhaustion of the group, the cook gladly accepts it. "I'll take any help I can get... these people can drink. And eat." With a wide smile, he shows Pru to the stack of dishes in the back. "I'll talk to Haggard to make sure he knocks some coin off your bill."

Bliss scurries out to the bar for a moment, drawing attention to himself briefly. A rather drunk human stumbles up to the bar, looking down at the tiny halfling for a moment before mumbling, "Drek, Haggard's go' a real big rat problem..." With that, he stumbles away to stare at the talking bird that seems to have drawn quite a bit of attention.

William finds that there are no children about, as they are likely all asleep. In the stables, there are no farmhands, simply rotating guards. They seem disinterested in anything summoned by the wizard, should he chose to do so, but appreciative that he's trying. Does William attempt to engage them in conversation?

Nikolai takes the watch with Tinker, as Hope explains quickly that they already have many volunteers to take shifts. He sees the same man with the wood-axe, seemingly unwilling to talk. (Nikolai is healed for 9 HP.)

Meanwhile, some folks turn to the ever-likable Cameron to speak with him. "Aye, there was a mine," the dwarf mutters, patting the pickaxe on his hip. "It's where some of us worked. 'Course, it's pretty much shut down now that those... things are here."

"They've only been here about a month," Hope speaks up. "No warning or anything. People just... started coming back from the dead. Even people we didn't recognize, random bodies no one had ever seen before. It's..." She drops her head, breaking eye contact. "It's tougher when you know who they were. When they were alive."

"Fact is, no one knows what started this whole thing," the dwarf growls. "You can be sure if we did, we'd be out there makin' sure it was dead and gone."

"But we do know what happened!"

A few heads whip around at the voice, but most people simply roll their eyes. Hope sighs, shaking her head, and no one seems to respond. There is an awkward silence before the voice calls out again, "We know what happened and you're all too afraid to admit it!" Anyone caring to look can see an older half-elf standing, glaring out across the crowd. "And now we're not gonna tell these folks! They can help!"

"You didn't see anything, you crazy old man," the dwarf cries out, many more shouting out their support for him. "Your eyes play tricks on you every day, everyone knows it. Stop trying to waste time. Sorry about him," the dwarf apologizes, turning back to Cameron. "He's not... all there, strictly speaking."

Carver heads up the stairs and makes himself at home in one of the rooms, knowing Linden will be in the other, as each room only has one centaur "bed". He strips off his armor and works on cleaning the worst of the grime from it, knowing he'll need to spend a whole lot more time back at base to get it truly clean.
He keeps his gear near by when he goes to sleep....

Since there seem to be plenty of takers from the town to handle guard duty and Cameron has already stood one watch tonight he will retire to the bedrooms. He strips off his armor (no need to sleep in it in here, they have walls to protect them, right?) and hums a little tune, which cleans the gore from his armor. Seeing Carver scrubbing at his armor, Cameron will be happy to offer to clean his armor as well.

Bliss (Cayzle) (AC21, HP10 of 16)
Wednesday January 8th, 2014 9:00:32 PM

Bliss sees his friends head off to bed, and he can't understand it. He isn't even CLOSE to sleepy! He just woke up from a nap, he thinks. Patting his pockets, he does find some things ...

A light helm with a spike on top that you can stick a candle on.

Alemi's Blessed Water (a vial of holy water), +1 to hit when this container is thrown.

A palm-sized tin with a twist-off cover; while the cover is in place, whatever is inside is protected from exposure to both air and water. Inside are three SQUINKY'S SKILL PILLS; Swallowing the pill gives you a +1 Luck Bonus to any one skill being attempted. The Luck Bonus will last until the you makes any Skill check. Once whatever skill check is made -- regardless of whether or not it succeeds -- the effect of the pill(s) wears off immediately afterward. However, one can swallow up to THREE pills at one time to "stack" the effect.

One cut-crystal bottle containing a fruity blue potion: Cure Light Wounds potion -- but it's one that has been personally brewed by the current Head Cleric of the Clearspring Temple on Centaur Island. Cures 1d8+5 for curing!

Then Bliss recalls something and checks a shirt pocket close to his heart.

A small action figure of Vauhwyt, a hero of Blackbird Lake. When squeezed she says 'So I must say, that some grouchy puss woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!' Given to Bliss by Carver, who won it parcel fishing in the Giggling Ghost, Yule Party 2013.

From under a table, the thin high voice of the doll may be heard as Bliss squeezes it. Well, hugs it, really.

Tinker is well enough that he doesn't use his little blue bottle from the dream at the Giggling Ghost. A whistful smile fleetingly falls past his face; it was nice.

Spying the man with the axe, Tinker unlimbers his crossbow and gets to a good perch, keeping silent watch and covering the man so Tinker can shoot anything trying to attack the man. "This a good spot?, he asks as he sits down. If the man doesn't wanna talk, Tinker won't push it.

William, while disappointed that there aren't many people to speak to outside, tries to engage the guards in conversation... He nods at Trimmack when he comes out, and will try to get the same sort of information from the guards that he intended to get from the non-existent stable hands...

If he has no luck on that end, he'll sigh, shrug his shoulders and bids Trimmack and the guards a nice evening before retiring to bed for the night. He hears the others chatting and discussing various topics in the inn's common area, but he's got to get his spells memorized for what may be a busy day tomorrow... First prayers, then sleep...

OOC: I imagine that the Mage Armor spell is gone by now, if not, it will by morning.

IC:
Nikolai is much appreciative for the healing and tells Hope so and that he hopes that he can repay the favor with a favor.
Outside, he tells Tinker that if they kept watch over the cemetary, they might find out who's coming and raising the dead. With Trimmack and Helmbane's permission, they could 'bury' a decoy and see what happens.
"I hate that our Sergeants have the mindset of getting that book and then getting out of here leaving these poor folk to their fate. But from their point of view, I understand. We can't risk loosing our reputation in these tasks. If we do, we will be a poor mercenary lot indeed."

At the stables Nikolai greets the man but finding him untalkative, move into the stables proper. With Tinker and the axe-man at the door, he feels better keeping an eye on any back entrance, so he places himself in the middle of the stables, preferably in the rafters.

DM Ian - What's Going On Here?
Thursday January 9th, 2014 1:54:01 AM

Linden does not seem very happy with the decision to leave the undead in favour of their mission.

Prudence buckles down in the kitchen, chatting up the two cooks in the back. One is the young man she already met, and the other is a girl around the same age who looks rather similar to him. As they get to talking, the girl reveals that they are indeed brother and sister. See below for more...

Carver settles down into one of the beds supplied for someone of his size, going through the routine of cleaning the muck and dirt from his armour.

Cameron retires to the same bedroom, hoping he can remove his armour safely here, without threat of any attacks. He helps his ally clean his armour as well before they both go to sleep.

Bliss cannot comprehend how his allies could even consider sleeping at a time like this as he goes through the various gifts given to him. A faint voice can be heard from underneath a table, but most people seem to be either leaving in groups or heading upstairs to rest. And a select few have simply passed out in their chairs, slumped over or with their head on the table in front of them

Tinker sits outside, his crossbow trained on the entrance of the stable. "Looks fine," the man comments, looking over at the dwarf. "S'long as you can hit 'em, it's a good spot." See below for more...

William speaks with a few of the guards in the stables, although the wizard is only able to keep his eyes open for the first shift. The stable seems a bit packed with so many horses, as well as a dwarf, a half-elf, and two humans standing guard. "Probably the best watch we've had in a while," the guard comments, hefting the axe in his hand. "That magic o' yours any good against these things? Not like it matters. Hope doesn't seem to have any luck with hers."

Nikolai tells Hope that he wishes to repay the favour with a favour. She smiles widely, replying, "I'm sure we can work something out." When he brings up the idea of watching the cemetery around the guard, his reaction is almost visceral. "The graveyard ?You nuts? That's where most of these things gather when they're not attacking us. It's a death wish."

The other guard at the stable eventually introduces himself as Guy, someone who grew up in Cheerful Stay. "I've never seen nothin' like this," he comments, fidgeting with the axe. "You guys, I bet you get stuff like this all the time. I thought it'd always be cool to join the Fist, but y'know, I'm prolly not good enough, right? You're all soldiers and stuff, I couldn't do any of that." The half-elf also discovers that, while there is a back entrance, it had been boarded up to the point where it is barely recognizable as a door.

Back in the kitchens, Prudence makes quick work of the dishes, allowing the brother and sister to quickly serve anything order that may come back. As the night winds down, the dishes are quickly done, and the three are left to relax in the back for a bit. The brother offers Pru a mug of ale, sitting down on the floor and letting out a sigh. "Sorry you had to come here when everything's so crazy," he mutters. "Usually, Cheerful Stay's really nice. Now it's just... a hellhole."

"No one could have seen this coming," she comments, looking down into her mug. "I mean, we're close to the Cursed Swamp, but... I always thought those were just stories, you know? I never thought that..." She pauses for a moment, tears welling in her eyes. "I'm sorry. We've just been through a lot lately." Her brother moves to her side quickly, putting an arm around her and drawing her in.

"We... we lost our parents in the first wave," he whispers, staring at the ground. "Haggard took us in. Gave us jobs, a roof over our head. Without him..." He lets the sentence trail off, wiping tears from his eyes. "Sorry, you don't need to hear about that. I wish there was something we could do to help you, really, but we don't even know why these things are here. Old Man Cedric keeps yelling about something he saw, but when isn't he screaming his head off?"

"They were here, you know," his sister whispers, looking up at Prudence.

"Of course they were here, but what does that have to do with anything? A few shady people don't make for an invasion of corpses." With that, the brother and sister excuse themselves for the night, thanking Pru profusely for her help. "And if you wanna know about those folks... ask Cedric, I guess. Old man's always got something to say, even if it's nonsense."

Unless anyone had anymore business, we'll assume everyone goes to sleep and wakes up in their today's post.

William wakes up nice and refreshed, and after eating breakfast and greeting his fistmates, he looks for Hope. Once he finds her, he politely asks about how her magic seemed to fare against these denizens that keep attacking the small village. "Most of my magic is arcane and is yours more of a divine nature? What spells did you try against them, and what sorts of results did you see? If we're going to run into them, I want to get an idea of what works and what doesn't..."

He eats a good breakfast.

Well, it seems to Bliss like it is time for a snack, and his friend Prudence is already in the kitchen, so he wanders in there.

"Hiya!" he says brightly. "Is there anything to eat in here? A hobbit gets hungry when he doesn;t get five solid meals a day."

Thinking of food makes him think of Goodberries. He asks the workers in here if they have any fresh-picked berries. He sure would be grateful for a handful.

If there are, he'll try to cast a Goodberries on them. Ley check 78 = no problem.

Thinking of casting makes him think of magic.

"Hey Miss Pru, did we ever look close at those two vials, necklace, and feather?"

Bliss will track those down if Prudence does not have them, and bring them back to Prudence to Identify.

Bliss tries to figure them out as well.

He casts his Detect Magic and a Guidance cantrip for Gargul's blessing ...

Spellcraft checks to ID 4 items: 25, 22, 19, 22!

"Jeezum Crow! Them's Good Spellcrafting!" Mookie declares as he watches his ward.

After the snack, the goodberries (hopefully), and the magic items, Bliss starts to yawn again.

"I'm tired," he declares, curling up on a flour sack by the fireplace.

If she can, Pru tries to find Cedric and speak with him before retiring for the night.

When Bliss comes into the kitchen, Pru smiles at him. "I'm sure we can find you something," she says. She looks at the magic items, but Bliss seems to have done a pretty good job identifying them already.

If possible, Pru just finds a comfortable, out-of-the-way place there in the kitchen to nap for what remains of the night. It's warm in there, after all, and she doesn't want to disturb her Fist-mates who have already gone to bed.

If she can't find a good spot in the kitchen, Pru heads upstairs to the rooms set aside for their group.

Cameron wakes at first light as the sun starts to show through the window. He wants to roll over and go back to sleep, allowing the aches and bruises to heal with time. But a soldier of the Mailed Fist gets no such luxury. He rolls out of bed and puts on his fresh, clean uniform and armor and belts on his sword and slings his shield. Today they would get to the bottom of the undead and find the book they had been sent to retrieve.
He heads downstairs and gathers some breakfast, cooked if it is available, cold if not. Cameron didn't survive growing up with dwarves by being picky about what he ate or bashful about getting it himself. He sits down and mulls over the stories and songs he has learned in the past few days from Helmbane and from his own trove of tales from his youth. After a little time doing that he feels prepared for the day.
Cameron will go and chat with the old man everyone calls crazy. Often the crazy do have things to tell us, they just lack the means to do so effectively or an attentive audience. Cameron brings the man a cup of coffee or tea or whatever passes for a morning beverage here and asks what it is he saw before this all happened and why everyone else finds it strange. He surely uses the word strange, because crazy people don't like to be reminded they are crazy, at least in Cameron's limited experience.

In the morning, the dwarf gets a sketchy wash and breakfast and listens to what everyone else said before getting to Sergeant Trimmack. "Where is this magic item supposed to be? Any chance these zombie creatures and recovering the item is connected?"

He encourages Guy. "If joining the Fist is what you want, do it. They will train you and they will know soon if you are good enough. The worse thing that can happen is that they send you home. But at least you tried. You will never know if you can be a Fist member if you don't try."

Noticing thtat the back has been boarded up well, he focuses on the front. From his perch up in the rafters he adds, "Part of being in the Fist is that we actually look for things like this. To us, it is work, no different then a farmer planting crops to sell."
