Appearance
With his turquoise eyes, dark dusky skin and the brightly dyed hair, most people would mistake Villemus as a surface drow despite him being half a head taller than an average drow. Despite being lean to the point of near-emaciation, the wiry half-drow nevertheless exhibit no signs of fragility, instead Villemus exudes the confidence of a practiced woodsman. And like his full blooded brethren, numerous tattoos decorates his dusky skin, however on closer examination one would notice that most of the tattoos are long lasting but non-permanent; but there is one particular tattoo which stands out, a High Woldian glyph etched onto his left palm. Similarly, his long silvery hair had been dyed into a deep sea green hue, then braided and decorated with numerous colorful beads and trinklets. In fact, Villemus is entirely decorated by colorful beads and numerous bits of bones, which imparts a sense of raw power of nature and of death, while exuding a strangely exotic but seductive pull.
Villemus's typical adventuring attire, includes a fur vest over a cotton shirt, a sturdy leather belt, wool breeches and a pair of tough leather boots. His left arm and hand is usually binded with tough linen strips (decorated with numerous bone trinklets) while on his right, he wears a leather gauntlet reinforced with iron spikes. For the more observant, they would notice a slim hunting knife wrought of cold iron hidden within his right boot. And across his back is a composite longbow crafted from a dark grained wood. And finally, the Villemus's attire is completed by a ragged gray cloak (hooded) and a finely crafted war-scythe - its haft crafted from the same material as his longbow, and its blade blacken. And without a doubt, numerous beads and bones decorate the grim looking weapon.
And occasionally, one would notice slight movement within the hood of Villemus's cloak. That would be his rat familiar, Bone. Bone appears much like any typical rats, except perhaps, like his master, Bone is skinner than the average starved rat. And like his master, he is decorated with numerous non-permanent tattoos across his dark furs. And despite his heritage, Bone behaves more like a pampered hamster, one which is blissfully ignorance of dangers and enjoy poking his whiskered nose in everyone's pack, although he seldom chew on anything important.
Personality
Villemus is a troubled soul, a soul in perpetual conflict because his mixed parentage and because of his troubled history. While it is not obvious, an observant person would notice that Villemus is actually suffering from both autism and manic depression, of which he hides very well.
The half-drow ranger is usually silent and aloof, offering advices or opinions when needed but seldom engage in any social niceties. But despite his seemingly private nature, Villemus seldom isolate himself in a corner and instead seemed to deliberatedly placed himself right in the midst of everyone. Already notorious for his eccentricity, few people find it strange that in some days Villemus seem much more gregarious, while in others he is seem even more aloof and distracted. And regardless of his current moods, everyone agrees that Villemus has a great but strange sense of humor.
A worshipper of Gargul, the God of Death and Life, Villemus made his life quest to track down undead and free them from their unnatural lives. And unlike some undead hunters that had grown bitter and filled with hatred for the unliving, Villemus instead had grown to care for those that he hunts, particularly the mindless undeads. A son of a evil necromancer and a captive drow, Villemus long had learnt the suffering of these undead minions and longed to free them to their true death, a release to eternal peace. Whenever, he slays an undead, Villemus smiles and occasionally breaks out in manical laughters in celebration of their freedom.
The only thing that troubled him is that, what if the undead did not wished to be released, what about their rights to live in peace despite in their unnatural state? He himself is born of an unnatural union, and unlawful union. While the undead hunter has no qualms about hunting undead who had done evil, Villemus is very troubled by the thought of hunting undeads who had committed no crimes and have no wish to be freed.
History
Villemus had an unusually harsh childhood as he was born of an evil necromancer and a captive drow from the Underdark. Since young, Villemus was taught to track and hunt down runaway minions and also function as an lowly apprentice to his exalted father. He never did know his mother although he suspected one of the drow zombies was once her. Villemus dislike the gruesome experiments of his father and his apparent disregard of the suffering of the victims, however young Villemus was at a loss on what to do, especially when his father obtained a new drow slave. The drow was unlike any other drow he had seen, his hair was brightly dyed and numerous silvery tattoos decorated his dusky skin.
Villemus wanted to ask if he knew his mother, but before he gotten the chance, his father's tower was raided by a group of adventurers and the drow rescued. Miracleously, they brought Villemus along when they fled the tower, as they thought he was a prisoner too. Villemus believed it was divine favor that granted him this opportunity to escape from his father's cruel grasp.
After they had successfully fled from the necromancer, the adventurers were troubled by Villemus's withdrawness so the tattooed drow offered to bring the young half-drow back to his House. And since then, Villemus had learnt much about the House of Bralfah and was formally adopted into the family of the tattooed drow, he was Carlis Bralfah. Villemus spent several years among the drows, dancing and being free. But he too had been pondering over his life, and spent much of his time within the temple of Gargul.
And despite of best intentions, Villemus still find himself uncomfortable among the drows and he too felt a calling from Gargul, and a youngster's lust for adventure. He soon confided with his adoptive father on his thoughts, and Carlis roared in laughter and patted Villemus's back, "Go forth, my son and seek your calling!". The hearty drow even helped the Villemus to pack his gears and even suggested him to set off to the Cinnamon valley, as he heard there was a call for adventurers there. Villemus spent a night in mediation within the temple of Gargul before his journey, and before he left, the high priest offered him a gift - the divine tattoo of Brahmah. It took more than two days for the divine blessing to be etched onto his left palm.
And soon after Villemus set off towards the contested kingdoms
of Windbourne hills. But on his journey towards the Cinnamon valley, Villemus
couldn't help himself when he skirted along the edge of the Dread lands, in
search of his calling, instead of straight towards the town of Maggie Crossing.
