Character: Olana D'Kallya
Player: Jan Holden
Campaign: Emerald Kingdom
Classes: Ranger/Rogue
Race: Elf
Gender: Female
Age: 119
Height: 5ft
Weight: 90lb
Hair: Very long, wavy, pale blonde

Appearance:

Olana is just short of 5ft tall, willowy and lithe, very pretty with narrow, elegant ears, large blue eyes and an endless cascade of pale blonde hair. Her clothes are a close-fit, miss-match combination of leathers and suedes in moss and stone grey colours, covered by a servicable plain wool cloak in dark green. She nearly always wears her hair in a loose braid down her right side. If you look carefully, there is a streak of pure white hair on the left side of her head, hardly noticable, but there all the same. An intricately curled tribal tattoo adorns her left shoulder.
Two swords, various daggers (hidden all over the place), and her special bow - a gift from the Gold Dragons, help protect herself and her loved ones from danger.

Personality:

Olana is friendly and polite, but not one for wisecracks or joking around. Life is a serious business that she tries to make the best of. She is a quietly optimistic elf who wears her heart on her sleeve, unguarded and open. Evil and wrongdoings affect her deeply, giving her a painful sense of outrage and sorrow. Having endured a very spartan upbringing, she is uncomfortable when surrounded by wealth and ostentation. She is far more at home in the wilds of Culverwood and similar forests, for she believes there lies true beauty and wealth, and much needed calm in order to be at one with her surroundings. Cities, crowds and clamour have caused her normally sound judgement to falter more than once. She is still learning, growing, knowing all too well that wisdom comes at a price.

History:

For the elves in Southern Culverwood, life was not easy. Parnoth, the dragon ruler of the Emerald Kingdom had a long reach and the power to mould the southern part of the forest to his liking. Those who opposed this had to live with the consequences. Some elves were conscripted in order to work on his 'gardens' - cropped and tended areas of Culverwood, made safe for passing travelers on their way to New Elenna. All others were kept poor and without the means to establish a power base that might oppose him.

Olana's tribe lived a life of precarious balance, their aim - to restore the forest to its natural beauty, while living within Parnoth's strict confines. Resources were scarce. From early childhood Olana learned to scavenge and sometimes steal from passing travelers to ensure survival of the tribe. Knowledge of the great, erratic and dangerous magical forest was also quickly acquired. Ignorance often meant an abrupt and extremely violent death.

One day a summons came from the mighty dragon - mercenaries were required, for purposes unknown. Approaching adulthood but not yet ready for motherhood, or mature enough to help guide the tribe, and yet already profficient with sword and bow, Olana was asked to answer this call.

That day her life changed completely. An audience in the green dragon's lair not only brought her into direct contact with the intimidating Parnoth, but allowed her to meet those fellow adventurers who would become very close friends.
