History

My life was a simple one, until five years ago when the giants came. It was but my 14th year. My mother was one of the ladies of nature, a witch some call them. She would use simple herbs and spells to help the sick, both animal and people and grow simple woodland gardens. My father a simple woodsman, who loved and supported my mother and I through his huntings and trappings.

After the giants came things changed, my mother went into hiding deep in the woods. I was told it was because she was connected somehow to a coven, which had made itself enemies of the Jarl. My mother made infrequent visits to me when she could, making sure all was well.

When the Dread war started my father was conscripted into the army and I was left in our simple cottage, alone. My father sent word home when he could, telling of horrific events, of things that would not die. Sadly my father's letters stopped suddenly and we learned that he was killed by a terrible creature that drained his life-force, in the battle of the Crimson fort, somewhere near the Dread border.

My mother seemed to change some after this, sad and morose, she began to teach me of the unnatural things that walked the Wold. She spoke of Gargul, and how he viewed these unnatural occurrences. She spoke of my father's death and how it was not meant to be. This made perfect sense to me, and I decided to follow the teachings of Gargul ever since. Armed with my new outlook on life and death, I have decided to leave home and help put down some of these unnatural occurrences. I plan to someday travel to the Dread lands and retrieve my fathers remains for proper burial, perhaps Gargul willing, I will also avenge his death.
