The most potent shadow spell, Soul Bone traps the witch's soul in his severed finger bone, and grants the witch immunity to death. In the Realm of Shadow, the witch prepares a cauldron with a brew that includes a drop of Woldsblood. The witch wills his soul into his finger, and then severs the finger, dropping it into the cauldron.

  • When gathering the Woldsblood, the witch must make a will save vs. DC 16 or become confused for 1d4 days. If the witch is not confused, he must make a second Will save vs. DC 19 or die as his soul boils in the cauldron.
  • As a result of losing his finger, the witch thereafter suffers a +4 percent chance of spell failure with somatic component spells. The finger, with the witch's soul bound in it, boils until only bone is left. Since the witch's soul is bound into the finger bone, it is his weakness. Breaking the finger bone (hardness 5, 10 hp) instantly kills the witch.
  • But after casting the spell, the witch is immune to all death magic, including level drain, Power Word Kill, Wail of the Banshee, Finger of Death, etc. The witch also gains the ability of Regeneration: all damage is treated as subdual damage (even fire and acid), and subdual damage regenerates at a rate of 5 hp per round. The witch can choose to regenerate damage from a Surrender Self spell, or not. He remains vulnerable to attack forms that don't deal hit point damage (for example, disintegration and most poisons). The witch can also be slain by old age, starvation, thirst, or suffocation.
  • After 1d6 years, the witch's finger regenerates, and the spell ends.
