These magical wines, created from the sacred blue and purple vintages of the Taur races, grant the drinker the same effect as if he or she had cast a particular spell with a personal range (such spells cannot be made as potions). Philters of arcane spells are made from purple wine; those of divine spells, from blue wine. These sanctioned philters are created under the supervision of a druid or cleric of Domi, which ensures that they can only be used by those with a pure and brave heart. The supervising priest casts the virtue spell before the infusion of the selected spell into the philter.

Only certain spells can be infused into a philter, and in all cases the magic is effective only if the drinker is of good alignment. In addition, if a character drinks more than one philter a day, she becomes intoxicated (treat as sickened) until the next day -- an intoxicated character suffers a -2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

These philters were first infused by a liontaur devoted to Domi named Toros. However, some folk, especially outside the Taur Isles, have confused the creator with his race. Sometimes these items are referred to as Tauro’s Philters or Taurs’ Philters.

Toros's Philter, Lesser (caster level 1): Can be infused with Comprehend Languages, Disguise Self, Divine Favor, Entropic Shield, Expeditious Retreat, Longstrider, Shield, or Speak with Animals. Toros's Philter, Improved (caster level 3): Can be infused with Augury, False Life, Find Traps, Mirror Image, See Invisibility, or Speak with Plants. Faint abjuration; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item, virtue cast by a Taur priest, spell infused; Price 600 gp.

Toros's Philter, Greater (caster level 5): Can be infused with Arcane Sight, Blink, Invisibility Purge, or Meld into Stone. Faint abjuration; CL 5th; Craft Wondrous Item, virtue cast by a Taur priest, spell infused; Price 1,500 gp.
