Atlas is inclined to hear what Eccy has to say. He also decides that these drow will make good story tellers if they make it out of here alive. However, he's not going to just stand around and hope that they stop poking him and the others. He heads around towards the stairs and one of the remaining drow. Once there he flexes his shoulders and arms a little, leans in with his sword and shield leading the way, and says in a very even yet dangerous voice, "Put down your weapons now or die like the rest of them."

They may not understand him, but his message should be clear even if they don't understand the words.

Carver: and Leskni: you both work to get the gag off Eccy. her first words are "Not my men, House T'zzukah's men. .

Atlas: your attempt at intimidation is lost as the two drow are busy fighting for their lives with 4 angry ghosts and a rabid squirrel. (man, I've always wanted to say that!)

Armand: and Boerdir Apparently the Drow understands Orc, he drops his sword and puts his hands up.

Owen: it looks like the two near the stairs are too engaged to know how to surrender. and for what it's worth the Ghost don't look to keen on letting them surrender as well.

‘Osul:

Wailing ghostly cries of rage the ghosts converge on the two remaining drow, they fight valiantly! wounding two of the ghosts and even manage to avoid all but 4 of them as they attempt to fling themselves through the Drow. the 4 were enough, though, and their faces contort with horror at the ghastly touch of death that kills them.

Once the drow are dead, the ghosts freeze, then turn toward you.

Their color goes from a glowing blood red to the blueish white from before. Mya steps out. it is done she says in wonder you have destroyed the power that the altar had over us. We are free! Free to seek the lands of rest! Thank you, Thank you ever so much, I wish I could repay you for the kindness you have shown. but I can feel the call now, we all can....good bye.

He pulls lacing from the drow's boot and binds his hands with, then slides him onver to lean against the wall. Now that the last threat has been neutralized, Beordir kneels to wipe off his blade on the clothes of one of the fallen before standing and walking over to the stairs.

He doesn't have a long history with the drow leader, so he leaves that to others. Instead, he listens carefully from the top of the stairs to determine if more threats are coming.

once she is unbound, Eccy picks up a Drow rapier and walks over to zulok. a rapier is not the best weapon for a beheading, but she works with a will and soon raises the dead drows head up by it's hair. There seems to be a lot of grief and anger directed towards Zulok. While she works she speaks, her voice calm at first but then rising as her emotions do.

Zulok was a representative from house Tzzukah, he has been at the House D'gul court for many years. I trusted him. It seems he was conspiring with certain noble houses within House D'gul to depose me via regicide. I was lured to a private meeting with Zulok by another "Trusted" advisor, He and his men were waiting on me...they smuggled me out via a previously unknown side passage, then took me here, it seems he knew a back way in all along, but it was blocked by some sort of moving shadow thing that he could not pass. He said his Scion resided within, waiting to be released and to make House Tzzukah great again, but that no drow could open this door, it could only be opened by "people of the light" and that he had duped me and the Tree Wardens into opening it for him. she pauses for a moment and steels herself. He and his men entertained themselves with me while we waited, they told me how my royal blood would stengthen the altar and make his Scion strong. He named all of the nobles of House D'gul that were in on this. Fool...I had feared that it was all of them, but it is only 4 of my advisors. she laughes bitterly. I'm going to need your help getting back to the palace...I don't know how to thank you for what you have done for me....there will be petitoners lined up when I get back... she starts to babble a bit, but even dirty, clothes torn, bloody, hair matted, tangled and not tracking well due to shock, she still keep a regal bearing. almost noble.

There is noise from down the stairwell hallway, someone calling Eccy's name and other obviously drow words. A Drow runs into the vestibule followed closesly by a whole bunch of drow warriors. the lead drow is Eccys cousin, the Captain. Eccys seems to start tracking better at her cousins appeance and quickly explain what all has transpired. The Captain falls all over himself thanking you for saving his cousins life and even the Drow warriors smile and make gestures of friendship.

Atlas looks Eccy straight in the eyes and with a calm voice replies to Leskni, I'm tired of having to walk around these people like I'm on pins and needles. After what we just did they should be the ones walking around on pins and needles. If they want to pick a fight with us after all this then lets get it over with. Otherwise I don't ever want to see them tense or draw a blade on us again when we go about our business of casting spells and doing the stuff we do. Is that a deal?" Mack: The altar looks to have been eaten away by acid, many of the sigils and wards have been dissolved by the acid and there is a large crack running across it, looks like it has already been destroyed.

Carver:

Atlas: looks like if you just pushed on it a little it would collapse into two pieces.

Leskni: Eccy translates your request and motions for you to proceed

Armand: The room alightes with magic! the dagger, the hammer and a lot of the dead drows items light up. I'm going to go ahead and skip ahead a bit to bypass the 3 round rule if that's okay with you. I will tell you now that most of the drows stuff are thunderstones and potions. the dagger and warhammer need checks to fully disclose their properties. I will though describe them to you below.

Owen: you start relating your story. a few of the drow speak common and translate for you.

‘Osul: the altar looks well and truly buggered to you

Boerdir relaxes a bit and watches the stairs for trouble.

Atlas uncovers 23 thunderstones, 20 potions type A and 15 potions type B. the dagger is highly polished and sharp. Black and red leather are intertwined to form a soft handle, whilst an intricate double helix is inlaid into the blade itself all the way to the tip. The Hammer is An extremely corroded, rusty-looking warhammer with the words Highlight to display spoiler: { "Crusty Jim"} carved into the head in dwarven runes. Highlight if you speak Dwarven. you also find near the body of the Matriarch a clear spindle gemstone.
piled in a corner neatly is a gruesome sight, the bones of the children that were sacrificed. in front of the bones is a pile of jewelry, neatly laid out. The words "thank you" are written in Myas' hand before the pile on the stones. The jewelry looks to have belonged to the Drow children (need an apprasial check to get a value. )

there are a lot of really nice drow rapiers, studded leather, bucklers, hand crossbows and about 350 gp per drow (350x23=8050gp )

"Hmm."

Armand considers the dagger turning it this way and that. Spellcraft 12. He shrugs his shoulders.

He then examines the hammer. Spellcraft 13. Again he is confounded. He shakes his head.

Seeing Owen enthralling some Drow with his strange words he resolves to ask him later about these items. He contemplates the rites of Gargul for the dead but then realizes that Leskni's words are probably the wiser course at this point.

Armand walks over and retrieves his glaive and tucks it into the efficient quiver at his side. He waits and watches. He does not much care for all the manipulation and subterfuge that seems to dominate Drow society.

Pushing over the altar helps Atlas move on from the battle, his emotions finally cooling down. It doesn't take much longer before he forgets all about it as he looks over the treasure. "Mack, let me know what I have to carry, otherwise we'll divide this up when we get back? Regarding the weapons and armor, nothing I need really. However, I did hear some of you recommend that I start bringing my bow. Until then, I'll grab two of these crossbows and a few cases of bolts."

When Leskni speaks up about the dead, he nods, "I agree, Eccy can decide and we'll do what ever is necessary. These children deserve to be at peace."

Eccy thanks you for the healing and detail some of the drow guards to start stripping the dead warriors of arms and armor. when she hears about the drow children, she details a few guards to round up their bones to take back to House D'gul. I shall be honored to give these drow a proper burial, The Warriors, I will have slaves come back and take their bodies to the compost pits. It is fitting that their flesh shall feed that mushrooms that feed our people. As to the prisoner, you have taken, he is yours to do with as you will, this is the way of our people. She looks at Armand closely, I will tell you that if you should turn him over to me, he will soon join his brothers in the compost pits, Please Armand, cast your spells, you are my friends, and I trust you more than any other. The drow collect what equipment you have not taken from and begin packing it up. Eccy speaks again. and one of the drow pulls out a series of strings on a stick, and as he counts the weapons, armor and sundries he thows knots in on of the strings, one string for armor, one for rapiers, potion A potion B crossbows, ect. He hands the stick to Mack and motions for him to check his work. Eccy looking on takes the time to explain what is going on.
It is a Tally stick, the knots on each of the strings represent your loot. My men are going to carry all of it, save the gold, for you, this is so that you have accountability.
one of the drow has collected the drows purses. He deposits the gold, 8050gp worth, at Macks feet. once all the loot is collected the Drow form up around Eccy and Await you to follow them back to House D'gul.

Carver: you were listening and watching the drow, when you hear a whisper. looking around you notice the spirit of you Aunt Matilda standing in a corner beckoning for you. unnoticed, by the others you walk over to her, she speaks. “Nephew, You have done well. The Matriarch was an affront to Gargul, and the Drow princess Eclyndryl, may one day lead these drow into the light. Gargul is pleased, but you are needed somewhere else. Say good-bye to your friends, your path leads elsewhere.

Leskni: Eccy takes the time to play with your ear a bit in a friendly familiar manner as she talks with her cousin.

Owen: Ready to go, Children and death, make every living creature maudlin.

‘Osul: (you mean the warded door the drow came through or the warded door you came through when you answered the riddle? apparently the door the drow camen through was deactivatded when you deactivated the shadow door.

you all hear a strange popping sound and all turn as one towards it, A glowing ash gray portal has opened in the air by Carver. A spiritual centaur stands beside him. He has a sad look in his eyes.

He turns to the Drow. He face turns from sad to maybe a little angry and result as his eyes narrow and his lips draw into a thin line. He grabs the Drow by shoulder and belt and starts running, pulling him along. He stops short of the swirling mass about to swallow Carver and propels the Drow through, shouting in Orc, "Learn to play nice or you may die!."

He turns to the group to see them staring back at him. "Well he was dead if we turned him over to Eccy. I don't think we could realistically take him back to the Tree with us. I doubt Eccy would have tolerated our releasing him on his own recognizance. Now he's banished to somewhere else."

OOC sorry network went down last night, wasn't able to get to post today. also, this module is not over you were all going back to house D'gul anyway.

the trip back to House D'gul is uneventful. the, well... gate is the wrong term, but the main strongpoint is open but guarded by D'gul soldiers. they seem surprised Eccy is here. saying something about receiving orders from the clan house to keep the gates open Eccy has them close the gates once you enter. In her own language, she sends a few guards to make sure that the gates to house D'gul are closed. she then leads the remainder into the back door of the council house.

In the council house, drow voices can be heard arguing. One set of voices are saying that Eccy has abandoned house D'gul and that they must now ally with House T'zzukah. Others, a surprising amount of others are saying that she would never abandon her people and that something must have happened. the others are just starting to pose a counter-argument when Eccys guards flood the room and Eccy steps forward.
You've never seen a Drow blanch white, but all four of her six advisors do. some turn to run out the door, but her guards were thorough, and have the exits covered.
she speaks. Hello Ustus, have you missed me?
Ustus stutters and mumbles you.. you..Your Majesty, we were just about to send a party to look for you
She smiles. Yes, I heard coming in, and Zulok was very vocal about all of his accomplices as he was waiting to sacrifice me to one of his ancient ancestors. So I know all about your plans and your disloyalty. Guards take them!
There is a brief struggle and the Advisors are taken into custody, their families, slaves kin folk are rounded up and a trial is set up within a few hours.

If there was ever a more perfect poster child for cold powerful and evil it would be Eclyandryl setting in judgement over the 4 advisors. She calls for evidence, it is presented, and is valid, she pronounces the sentence for the offenders. All holding, property and wealth are stipped from them. Their families killed and they themselves are to be staked out in the sun, fed and watered, until they die. Perhaps unnecessarily she mentions that Slaves are property but that no house will take them with the taint of attempted regicide around them and that they will probably be killed as well. She looks at Armand as she says this.

hammer: An extremely corroded, rusty-looking warhammer with the words "Crusty Jim" carved into the head in dwarven runes. This +2 warhammer belonged to a dwarf who once fought against the drow in the Scab. In addition to dealing 1d6 points of acid damage on a successful hit, it deals an additional 2d10 points of acid damage on a critical hit.

A drow ceremonial dagger. This +2 cold iron dagger dates back to the second age. Despite its age, it remains both highly polished and sharp. Black and red leather are intertwined to form a soft handle, whilst an intricate double helix is inlaid into the blade itself all the way to the tip. Any creature struck by the dagger takes 1d6 bleed damage and must make a DC13 Fort save versus the permanent Drow Poison that has been absorbed into the blade. The blade glows with a pale red light if any creature within 60ft is ‘dying’.

Armand tries to remember what he has heard about Drow culture and slaves. Knowledge History 27 (d20+7).
Are the slaves bred to slavery, meaning that is the only life they have ever known?
Are they slaves due to debt (like the old debters prisons, Australia, etc.)?
Are they slaves due to being prisoners for some other crime?
Are they slaves because they were captured and brought down here to endure it?

Atlas is hit with a wave of emotions as the slaves are brought out. First, disgust at the condition they are in. He truly hates slavery. Then conflict for the fact that they are saving some evil creatures that he is sure will kill good people again in the future.

"Does anyone speak Orc or Gnoll? We need to make it clear that if we free them they are to go back to their homelands and spread the word about how they were saved. I expect them to speak up against attacking good folk, otherwise we might as well kill them all now. I have never purposely let an orc or gnoll go free for the fear that their future kills will be on my hands. I am having a hard time with this."

"Oh Lady Eclyndryl great and magnanimous will your rule of House D'gul be. I am sure the historians in the future will mark this day as a turning point for House D'gul."

He pauses for effect. "But sore and tired are we still from having fought your enemies this day and brought low the ancient Matriarch that was looming over you. Perchance we could rest a day and then depart your fair realm in the morning." Again he pauses for effect and with a sweeping hand indicates the slaves. "Of course such quarters as you see fit to house us and these wretched slaves, or barring a space sufficient for that, perchance we could set up camp outside your doorstep as it were, provided we had sufficient food and drink for us and our entourage."

VERY QUIETLY so as the other drow should not hear he speaks to the party. "ixnay speakeh aroundeh the droweh becauseh they caneh understandeh."

And even more quietly Armand will go up to Atlas and the others. "Atlas, I understand your feelings about the gnolls and orcs. I'm not sure how we're going to deal with them. We may have to use some of the drow equipment we have to outfit these people or provide for them. I'm not sure how we're going to deal with re-integrating them to freedom. It will depend on how long they have been slaves. On the other hand some of them may prove useful to the Tree because they will have some first hand experiences with Drow culture to share with our leaders in future negotiations."

Armand contemplates the need to develop a private language for the group, one that will allow them to express ideas and battle plans without others being able to know what's said.

Armand finishes his review of the slaves. And then returns to huddle with the party.

"Okay guys, here's what I've determined. This is a mixed bag of slaves, house servants, concubines, some artisans and few overseers. I'm not sure how much I would trust the overseers they may tend to be bullies if we are not around. We may need to do watches at night just to watch all the slaves.

Armand is interrupted by a drow that hands him a note. He reads it and frowns. "Wonderful, Eccy wants to meet with me. Maybe I can get things all arranged and we can head out in the morning. If I'm not back in an hour send a rescue party."

"Armand, leave a bread trail so we can find you." Atlas starts counting to 3600. As he does so, he walks over to the overseers.

"I know your job used to be to oversee these slaves and it takes a special sort of evil to do such a thing.
We're going to get you out of here and then we're going to free you to do as you will. If at any point between now and then I hear, see, or sense that you are in any way taking on your former role then I'm going to kill you slowly. This is your only warning. We've killed a lot more and worse than this group. I doubt I would even work up a sweat."

the Halfling blanches when you castigate him, no overseer I sir, I was Vasilra's manservant, I did a good job, I know not why he has gotten rid of me. The Orcs and the Gnolls be the overseers, if by overseer you mean "punishers" I often assigned duties to the others in my group, but Vasilra would threaten us with the Gnolls should we stray from our assignments, I thank the creators he was wise enough not to let the gnolls actually supervise our work.

when Armand gets to Eccys chambers she stands and dismisses the servants. she seems nervous and agitated. she paces back and forth looking at you. do you know that in our stories and histories the Paladin is our bane. we tell our children to mind or the paladin will get them. Carver was not what I was led to believe. There is something about him and your people, something...clean. I feel drawn to it.
What is it? Leskni is my friend, but I feel animosity from most surface dwellers I meet. Do you want to kill me Armand?
without waiting for an answer she switches gears, from sad and confused to angry.

What is it!? what makes you so high and mighty? do you think you are better than us!? well! she deflates, suddenly pensive and calm. no...you have never acted but with honor towards me and my people. I remember the Tree, how the people there stood together, how no one had to watch their backs. they seemed to care for one another without fear or profit in mind. she kneels, and her eyes look far away, like she's about to do something that terrifies her, but resolute in resolve. I want it. I want my people to have that, but if I gave it to them now, they would tear me and house D'gul apart. I need you to teach me...show me...I..I..have no words for what it is...but I think you do.

"Oh my. My Lady, it is not that, as you say, we surface dwellers hate you or want to kill you. Rather it is that we are unsure of you. You say we act differently toward each other. Indeed, that is perhaps the cornerstone of the cultural problem. I know that I can trust my fellow party members, they will not attempt to deceive me or cheat me or stick a knife in my back for personal gain. The same holds true with the inhabitants of the tree. But that is a way of thinking built on our society. Oh, don't get me wrong. We have individuals that will back stab a friend, or cheat someone, or even steal. But that is not the norm of how our society operates. And when we do find those individuals that operate outside the norm, we try to either correct their behavior or punish them for their actions."

He pauses and considers how to proceed.
"Your society, from what we know of it, is the opposite of how ours operates. Personal power is the goal of your society and how it achieved is beside the point. Naturally when our two societies come into contact it will lead to some amount of suspicion and lack of trust. I think you are honestly in the position you are in because of a sense of duty rather than a desire for personal power. And that is commendable. But changing your societies mores will take time and it will be difficult. I think you've made a start by cleaning the houses that revolted against you. But you now need to try and consolidate your people. Building trust will require you giving it first and seeing how they respond.

Armand looks around, a bit uneasy.
I think with Lesnki here to help you that will be made somewhat more easy. I also think that continued contact with the Tree will be helpful as well. Perhaps you can require that trade delegations spend extra time at the Tree, sight-seeing, relaxing, seeing how others work together. And maybe when you feel you need a break you can come visit for a chance to relax as well.

Armand shrugs.
"That's the way I see things."

Armand waits to see if there is anything else.
"Maybe you have some trade goods to send to the Tree? Perhaps a small delegation? They could travel with us and see how we try to re-incoporate the slaves into our society? We'd really like to get going in the morning. Also I'm not sure if you want those jewels the poor dead children left us. They may be heirlooms for some family.

Eccy seems relieved that the things she hoped were true were actually true. she is joyful at your offer of continued trade, support, and friendship. She detals one of her manservants to pack goods to feed the slaves on your journey back to the tree of parting. she even has horses waiting for you at the entrance to the cave system. a hundred or so yards away from the entrance and to the right is a gruesome sight. The doomed advisors are tied to crosses facing the sun. the crosses are constructed in such a way that they can be turned to keep the condemned facing the sun. The slaves see them and they begin to babble among themselves. The Gnolls and the Orcs take off running away left. the Halfling manservant blanches again, then looks at you with a combination of horror and curiosity.

M...M...Master? That is Vasilra up there on that cross. If he is being killed, then Lady Ecandryl must have found out about his betrayal. since we all are still alive......Drow normally kill the slaves of betrayers..are we truly free? or is this another cruel joke?

That night Armand returns to the group. He tells them of Eccy's promise for food and provisions for the trip back. When they are alone, or at least where the slaves and any Drow cannot hear them..."We'll need to work out some sort of compensation for the slaves when we get back to the Tree. What do you guys think will be best? Maybe 50 gold each? That would let them get a good start on life."

Rest at last, and dawn comes. Armand is ready to be off. He retrieves his horse from the Drow.

Seeing the Gnolls and Orcs running off, Armand puts a hand out to restrain Atlas. "Hold on their Atlas. Let them go. It was inevetable that they would flee at some point. Better now when they are so near the Drow lands, than when we were near the Tree. Besides that's 22 less slaves we have to give some sort of start up stake too."

Armand rubs his chin. "At least they are unarmed so I assume they will not be causing too much trouble. Still we should be wary should they try to double back and pick off our party, which they may see as easy prey.

Armand is glad to be off at last.

Armand: Boolia, is the local jeweler, she's happy to see you and talks you up as she looks over the jewelry. Jeepers! these necklace's are ancient! I'll give you 4,400 gp for them. I've got a buyer in Plateau City I think I can sell them to.

‘Osul: bids the freed people goodbye as he heads off to do some shopping

Boerdir no one at the tree does bookbinding as a profession. But Ryan Mistbender, the scholar and Hedge wizard offer to bind your pages for you, he says you can probably get Dungarth the leatherworker to cover it for you.

Unless you really want to force the money on the ex-slaves they firmly refuse to take it. To a one, they wish they had money to give to you for rescuing them. Between the tree denizens, and the drovers and the story, it looks like the manumitted folk are getting a free ride to wherever they wish to go

I continue to nap by the stream, taking in the beauty of nature in this place.

OOC: I updated the Party Treasure some, and sent out a group e-mail with some comments on it.

Beordir takes the rapiers and hand crossbows with him to see if he can find anyone interested in them. He tarrys long with Ryan Mistbender getting him to bind his notes together with some more blank pages into a journal of sorts. Of course, additional supplies are needed as well.

There is of course more to discuss around local arcane spell casters and who he can talk to for acquiring spells. Beordir insures Mistbender is aware he'll pay to access spells he does not yet have.

Taking his leave, Beordir checks through the marketplace to see if there's a caravan heading to Hook City that might be able to dispose of the hand crossbows. Then he ventures into Dungarth's abode to get his new journal bound.

Finally, he heads back to the creek to have some lunch with Mack and friends.

(OOC initial basic purchase of a journal, ink and a pen is 18 gp and 1 sp
Should I handle spell purchasing through the Catacombs?)

Atlas enjoys their local fame, something he never thought he would enjoy earlier in his life. He starts to get some of his old self back as he talks to the travelers as well as the locals.

ooc: It's going to take me a bit to figure things out with my leveling and the possibility of purchasing something. I do want two of the hand crossbows though. I don't mind a week or so of down time :-)

'Osul takes his leave to meditate at the chapel, looking to reconnect to The Tree, and see if there have been any significant changes resulting from their bringing the picture given to them in the Red Hills.

Afterwards, he looks towards purchasing a headband to aid his spell capacity, but the quality will depend on the disbursements.

He stops by their accommodations, checks his room and for any messages, before taking the shape of the eagle, finding Mack and Beordir and reverting to human form.

Armand is amazed at the gift of the Drow children. He turns the jewels over to Boolia.

He then wanders around the Tree. He is deep in contemplation about what to do about the hammer he found. He wanders into the area where Mack and Beodir are .... bathing, out in the open ...
"Hi guys. Say Mack I dropped those jewels off with Boolia, she said they are worth 4,400 gold pieces."

He then wanders off again. Deciding that cleanliness would probably be a good idea he returns to their lodging and sets about cleaning himself, and all his traveling gear. Later that evening he sits in the Library, contemplating the mostly empty shelves. "Owen was going to build this up. We only have those books we scavenged from that crazy drow mage/druid in the forest.

He sits Crusty Jim on a shelf and pulls a chair close by. He sits in the chair and contemplates the hammer. "Are you someone's long lost heirloom?" Armand resolves to ask some of the people in the Tree if they ever heard of a war hammer called Crusty Jim. It was probably a long time ago. But Dwarves are known for naming hammers and such and maybe it has a home somewhere. He looks out the dark window. But that may be a task for the morning.

"Thanks Armand!" I add the count to our Party Treasure.

With thoughts towards my future, I again ask around at the Tree a little to see if there is a Greenmage that lives at the Tree, or nearby.

OOC: DMs, I'm not sure if you saw my question in the Rules area or not. I wasn't sure if I could become a Greenmage now, or if I have to level up my Druid to 2 first. It's not a Greenmage requirement, but a multi-classing rule that is a little vague in this area. I'm actually not 100% sure I even want to add Greenmage yet at this point, but I'm weighing my options. So was just curious if it's even an option yet for me.

Atlas takes a seat next to Armand and puts his feet up. "That sure is an appropriate name for it. I cannot imagine a dwarf creating or owning a rusty weapon, even if it is magical. Seems more like a trickster mage or deranged berserker that had it made. Are we sure we want to find them?"

Atlas sits there in silence next to Armand for a while, just enjoying his company and the fact that they are home again. He eventually asks a question to break the silence, "I'm debating whether I should get a bag of holding or if I should buy something for magical protection. My gear is getting too heavy, and the group seemed to think I should be carrying something for longer range combat. However, we're starting to encounter more magic out in the Wold. The last thing you all need is for me to be turned against you because I'm weak minded or something. Any thoughts?"

"Well, we do have a Bag Of Holding already that we share. Carver used to carry it. But I think we're good with that one, unless you feel that is insufficient? Several of us have magical pockets of some form or another already as well, too. I'd focus on something useful for battle! And I'm not expert at combat, but I like you up front. Especially with Carver gone now as well."

"But I've always found people are best at what they are happy doing. So be the type of fighter you enjoy, and we'll fill in any gaps, I'm sure." :)

Beordir reminds, "What about that quiver? I think it will hold bows as well at less weight than in hand. If we spread things out a bit, you shouldn't get over-burdened."

Having scrubbed the faded dye off in the stream, Beordir gets out his dye pots and starts mixing up a good brown and green, Then he starts drawing a few happy trees on his left forearm.

OOC: assuming we have all gathered together.

"Atlas, you stood there and watched as I put that bag into my handy haversack before we left for home with the emancipated, and you said something about hoping it didn't blow up." He smiles and adds, "It's yours -- I was just minding it until it was needed.". 'Osul reaches into his haversack, pulls out the bag, and hands it to Atlas.

The next time the opportunity presents itself, he takes a moment to speak with the butler in a long conversation. He is looking for answers about where he is from, and how he came to be here, because he has no recollection of his name or of how he came to join us. That and, if he is going to be here for a while, then he would like to discuss some basic modifications for the kitchen he would like his opinion on - fresh water storage and optional heating, an icebox, and such.

At another juncture, he hopes to have a private word with Mack. "I don't think I have been much of a mentor or even a good example of a Druid. I think I need to speak with someone who can help me better understand my own training, and my own mentor. The only person I know, that we know, that might be able to assist is the Emissary."

"You've been a fine mentor for me, Osul. Druid isn't my main profession... just a very large interest for me. Greenmage has fascinated me quite a bit as well. At heard, I'll always be a monk/rogue that really loves plants and animals." :)

Graham/'Osul - our butler is James. He was a hireling of Gaston's that we captured and 'turned' into our spy on Gaston. I believe he may have been a small time thief. Armand set up him up as a Butler and paid him in advance to oversee things before we left.

Armand talking to Atlas.
"I have an efficient quiver that really is just serving as a scabbard for my glaive. I can carry a bow and arrows for you. I think, as you are our tower up front, either concentrate on defense or dealing mayhem."

Armand in overhearing 'Osul and Mack talking thinks to himself.
"What can 'Osul mean by that? Who is the Emissary? Is 'Osul going to leave now to?"

Beordir is struck by Mack's conversation about being interested in plant's and animal. The Arboreal Awareness may not thank you. What's even more amusing is his advice to Atlas about focusing.

Beordir smiles to himself as he refills his reed with green.

"It's good to know we have several items that improve weight. When I was wandering along, carrying enough water was always on my mind."

He turns his attention toward Mack, "What's a Greenmage?"

"Greenmages are those that are most closely bonded with the plant world all around us. At least, that's what I've heard from stories growing up." I say at first fairly convincingly, then, almost second guessing myself. A draw a picture on the ground of a Druid, with a large S on the front of his robe.

the homecoming proves relaxing, enlightening, satisfying and fun. The ex-slaves depart with promises of aid if you ever need it. the tree citizens look at you with pride and love in their eyes. Transactions take place at the catacombs and good friends spend lazy days relaxing by the creek. The horror and sorrow of what you have experienced start to fade and a truth comes unbidden to your mind. All that is needed for evil to take root is for good men to do nothing. You did well, and the world is a better place for it.
