her piggie!

DM Shane
Friday April 22nd, 2016 11:20:41 PM

The game is a foot and mud and pigs go everywhere! cheers from the crowd and the squeal of pigs fill the air. Cedric has bit of skill at this, it's quite interesting to watch the dwarves squat body move in the mud, but any success he might have had is quickly snuffed by Armands vengful interference. Mack deftly nabs one and is on his way to the judge when there is a cry from the audience The Gate!..the Gate! the pigs are escaping! sure enough, either in the tussle or through forgetfulness the gate has swung open. All the little piggies, save the one Mack is holding all bolt out the gate!

Some of the crowd try to nab the slippery beasts, while others shy away from the filthy creatures. The pigs run for the hills and Cedric is running as fast as his little legs will take him after them.

Armand pulls up at hearing the cries from the crowd. 'hmm, that's certainly strange. I guess that's the least we can expect when playing with our food.' He thinks to himself.

He walks over to the gate. There he will cast detect magic and examine the area closely. Perception 12 (d20+4). He is looking for evidence that someone or something may have caused the gate to open.

Armand seems unconcerned that the piglets are escaping.

Seeing the piglets take off running, Carver takes off after them, unless they are the fastest piglets in the Wold he should catch up to them almost as soon as the broke free. He'll use his shield slammed down in front of the running piglet and let it stun itself as it runs into it. He will tie it up then go after the next.

As Carver is abot to take off a hand makes him stay. Boolia whispers to him, stay, watch around the clearing everyone stops and watches. Owen gets a birds eye view of the whole fiasco.

Cedric, while having great skill catching greased pigs in an enclosure, finds that catching them in the open is an entirely different matter. The pigs can easily outdistance him when there isn't a fence to keep them in, and they do so. They even begin to make a game of it. stopping to allow the Dwarf to get close and then scampering off just out of range to stop again, They even begin to criss cross and play tag with the dwarf. Pigs are smart animals and these seems to be enjoying the revenge they are getting against the dwarf. The ordeal last for quite a while, the dwarf never even noticing that nobody is helping him. He gets slower and slower as his wind runs out, and the comedy of the situation gets more and more slapstick and hilarious. When the pigs finally have their fun, they trot on back to be let back in the pig sty for their food. When Cedric finally notices what's going on he looks angry for a second, but then his face clears and he starts laughing as well. Och...Fair's Fair...I'll admit I get a bit single minded about me pigs...Twas a good trick, who thought of doing that?

DM Shane
Tuesday April 26th, 2016 5:52:23 PM

As with most things of humorous nature like this, especailly when the tables are turned so deftly. It's really all people can talk about for a while. Cedric tells Atlas that he will be leaving with a caravan in about a week. Every body gets cleaned up, water is brought up from a nearby stream, fresh clothes fetched and sundries taken care of. before it was all over quite a crowd turned out to watch the fiasco. Some are permanent residents but others are long standing transients and a few new faces.

Ryan Inger, a travelling scholar who has been at the Tree for around 6 months has decided to petition to extend his stay for another year. In his mid forties perhaps, has been intrigued with what the party did in the Culverwood and would like to continue his research. A bespeckled man in his middle years, black hair going to grey at the temples. Blue eyes and the look of someone who would tend to fat if not for all the travelling. His ears are cauliflowered, and he has a wrestlers knot on his forehead, also called a myofascial tear. You would guess he has wrestled a lot with scars like that. for a scholar he is built more like a blacksmith than a bookworm. dressed in good quality, yet comfortably worn traveling clothes, He has a book in his hand and has writing implements in various pockets and behind his ears. He is friendly, as only years on the road and being a good researcher can make you. He is from Wedding city and has been working for the court doing research about various subjects far afield. He is well spoken and erudite, Ryan has periodically bribed you with chocolate from Wedding City to get you to tell him about your adventures. He is currently chuckling to himself and writing notes in his ever present note book.

Arnos Faulk, an ancient man, thin to the point of emanciation, has even come down from his haunt in the Tree Top Taven to watch the festivities . Arnos claims to be a writer, and has been here for a few months doing research and writing. His business kept him longer than he wanted and now he is planning on riding out the winter here at the Tree. (Knowledge check DC 10 vs Local, History or Nature to recognize who Arnos is. )

Jyrial Hal Has been here for a week or so. He's been talking with Dungarth about exotic hides from the Great Prairie. He is a wiry man, medium height, black hair and dark eyes. His face is pinched and his skin is light. He dresses in buckskins with fox tails hanging off them, He moves with a fluid walk and his eyes never seem to stop moving. He wears a striking balmoral bonnet in red and black.

about 3 weeks ago Pyriam Greycloak and Johnathon Tanner arrived. Pyriam is an elf, Johnathon, a human. both nondescript in their appearance. Shaved heads, brown eyes. Johnathon has a slight mustache, the other is clean shaven. They dress in robes of the Star Mages guild, but mainly seem to hang about the tavern and talk up the locals, no one is quite sure what they are doing here, and they are circumspect in revealing their business. Friendly enough, they tend to steer conversations about their goings on in other directions. They got a big kick out of the pig wrestling and buy the first round for the party at the Triple T later on in the evening.

OOC, sorry no post yesterday, waiting for DM to post and then storms took out power and internet.

Having returned to the tree before everyone else, Armand enjoys a quite bath.

Once everyone returns he will go to the common area. However, he declines the drink. In his opinion, entertaining people because of being the but of the joke is not worthy of having a drink purchased for you. He is wary of those that ask about their adventures, feeling that the one retelling when they first returned was sufficient for those that needed to know.

DM Shane  d20+10=21 ; d20+10=24 ;

Carver and Osul you definitely feel that these two are hiding something, what it is, who can say.

Leskni they look at you with mild annoyance, then look at each other, then shrug. Johathon speaks we are here trying to figure out a use for the fallen leaves of the Tree of Parting. This place is Magical, mystical. You can feel the green power here. Our masters sent us here to try to ken it's power, Like why does it produce so many different types of flowers? and fruit. also, by the mathmatics of mystical physics it should not be able to support it's own weight. there are many mysteries about this place, and we were sent to see what we could see.

Inger is more than happy to talk about his research, exhaustively with great detail and lots of big words. He has an almost puppy dog eagerness to him as he explains Historically the Historical significance of the Parting, how it influenced trade relations with Dirt City further driving the crime families into conflict. Which in turn made trade go to other ports and increased the cost of goods and serivices to the surrounding nations. This in turn made the Ailsildurians have to tighten their belt, which lead to a 15% layoff of city workers and guards. His Hypothesis is if it were not for the 15% reduction in force, the giant infestation would not have happened, The Mailed Fist would not have been called in and the current unpleasantness might could have been avoided. Really they just need to go into Dirt city and clean the whole mess out. The infighting is no good for anyone and has repercussions far beyond the limits of the town walls. You see, Ralston, in his seminal work, "the wealth of Kingdoms" argues that Societal pressures can cause serious changes in the P/L statements a kingdom has to honor. While Plebas says that nations should make money elastic to cover short term downturns. it's really quite fascinating....He goes on and on.

Everybody knows who Arnos Faulk is. A Masterful and poignant poet, a wordsmith of the Highest calibre and one of the worlds foremost authorities on Rose species. A few of his famous works include “the Orc Wiafe” “Of Dragons and Deceit” “Faulks Registry” and the classic “Cultivars”

Jyrial Hal talks at the bar with Dungarth then finishes his beer and leaves for the night. Dungarth then approaches Armand and asks what he knows about exotic furs.

Armand shakes his head as if waking from a trance. "Exotic furs? Can't say really. Not my line of work. Maybe Mack or 'Osul could help you." He ponders. "The problem is what really do you mean by exotic. I mean, exotic in what geographic region may be common in another."

"You know, there is a trapper that sometimes comes by the tree. His name is Theon. He made me some very fine wolf pelt winter clothes. I'm not sure where to find him though. You could try asking around."

Armand will excuse himself from Dungarth and make his way to Owen. He will try to get Atlas's attention to have him in on the conversation.

"Hey Owen, I overheard some of what those star mages were saying. I'm not sure I like the idea of strangers trying to figure out the magic of the tree. They sound like they may be trying to harvest the magic or something. What can you tell us of the Star Mages?"

Atlas Sunowl (Trey) AC: 21 (T 13 FF 18), CMD: 20; HP 52/52 Character Sheet

Atlas was very interested at first, but quickly begins to yawn as the two go on. Without much grace or care he disengages from the conversation wanders over to another part of the tavern to talk to Arnos. "Did I hear you say that you are staying the winter? That will be good, I would love to hear about some of the books you have written. Any hero's you've followed? Any interesting historical tidbits that might lead us to an ancient treasure? I know I sound like a typical dim witted sell sword, but I'm dying of boredom here. It has been months since we've had any action."

Atlas gets jittery when he's been sitting around for a week, so this lack of adventure has really been eating him to the core. He's itching to get on the road.

Owen is somewhat interested in Inger's work, but more so in Pyriam and Johnathon's. His focus of scholarly study, of course, is the Tree as well. "We have garnered some insight lately. There is a painting we might like you to take a look at, and Leskni here has managed to commune with the Tree in some way." He turns to Leskni to reassure her: "The Star Mages have a scholarly aim in mind. Their interest in the Tree's nature and the leaves it drops are similar to their interest in the Ishgara Tree. I myself have been interested in joining their ranks." With that, Owen looks at Pyriam and Johnathon.

Dungarth nods and says Aye, I donna; know much about exotic furs meself. With winter coming on, Most of the trappers, like Theon, around 'ere will have already 'eaded out to start setting up and running their lines. I wanted to ask you all about it, seeing as you have travelled a bit more than meself. I'd like for some of ya'll to talk to him ta'morra, He's hinting around at starting up trade, and I think we could move whatever he can supply, but I don't wanna get caught up in things I donna' fully undertand. You 'elp in figuring all this out would be greatly appreciated, he's gone t'bed already, but if you could talk to him come t'morrow, I'd like to hear your opinions.

The Star Mages look at the renewed questions towards them about their work, they way a man might look at someone who casually asks him to cut off his arm. Forgive us, we have nothing but respect for you and everyone else here. Star Mage business is Star Mage business. We were given no orders with respect to enlisting aid in this endeavor, quite the opposite actually. Neither Pyram nor I are very good at subterfuge, but we really can't entertain questions about our methods or purpose here, our masters will know and they don't take kindly to adepts disobeying nor do they take kindly to "giving" away information.

Arnos, smiles a shy smile and in a voice surprisingly deep for one of such thin frame. He talks, interestingly, with the same sort of cadence and feel of his books. He speaks about the research he did for the Orc Wiafe, he talks of his love of roses and how that led to writing "of Dragons and Deciet' His humor and wit are awesome, and talking to him is better than reading his books. You wonder why you never really noticed him before. He's shy, so maybe that's why you have only just now heard him speak.

He will then tell him that Dungarth is interested in establishing a permanent trade station for him but is unsure of the prices. Armand feels that Theon is an honest and forthright man so he suggests the two sit down and work together to come to a common pricing scheme. Leskni in the preceding 8 months found a coven and studied with them, she periodically has flashes of insight and that take her into deep study, almost a trance, at various times. At the end of the day everyone meets at the Tree Top and relaxes. Dungarth sees everyone come in and, with Jyrial in tow joins you at your table. He introduces him, orders a round for everyone and sits down.
Jyrial speaks. Greetings, I must say it was great comedy yesterday, I haven't had such fun in years. HA Ha...but to business now. I'm a trapper and trader, I do much of my trapping in Izen and a bit in near but not in the Culverwood, I get fox, muskrat and all the rest, but I've become quite adept at trapping, more challenging game. I get an owlbear or two per year and I find other such monstrosities at times. its' difficult to move them so far to the south, but to here, not so much.
