Readying to Leave Edenmoor
Thursday June 5th, 2014 9:02:25 PM

Atlas detects no deception or anything but an offer on the up and up with the agent of the Mailed Fist. "Caravan is offering 200 gp to the Tree of Parting and another 200 if you go all the way to Emerald City. As far as cargo, better question is likely what's not cargo." he folds his hands in front of him on the table, "Look about you, everyone is going. You're new about, I get ya. See, every couple months a massive caravan is either going to or coming from Emerald City. There's gonna be near on 100 wagons likely and so as the official escort, us Mailed Fist or out proper to equip her with a right and proper guard. Can't have the giants, trolls, goblins and the like be thinking they just spotted a mobile feast."

Other stations about Edenmoor, within the hustle and bustle are similarly picking up folks to right as guard to the great caravan heading west.

Lilith spots several marks, and she also spots a great many individuals carrying an impressive array of armor and weapons in tight groups. Adventures, thrill seekers, treasure hunters and the like. Any mistake could get very costly in the direction her mind is churning. She also sees quite a few men and women wearing the flag of Edenmoor and without trying she can count a dozen from the famed Mailed Fist.

Adventure pulls at everyone, the promise of seeing one of the great natural wonders of the Wold, The Tree of Parting, seeing the Red Hills where giants and trolls roam. The there is the ancient Culverwood, said by some to be a sentient forest of great power and mystery. The offer from the Mailed Fist provides the perfect method of transportation with the caravan.

Word finally comes down that in the morning the caravan is departing. The Mailed Fist and many they have recruited to fill their ranks all find themselves at Edenmoor's premier Tavern, The Baying Hound. This great hall of a structure can seat nearly 150 and it is here where you find yourselves in the evening.

The party is all at The Baying Hound, if in character you would like to interact and get to know each other, please do so. It is assumed that all PC's are signed on with The Mailed Fist as auxillary guard.

Near the doors of the tavern, a gnome sits carving a nearly perfect ball from a beech knot.

A human child chases a dog, happily, the dog barks and seems to be making a game of the challenge, stopping every so often for the child to catch up then takes off again.

A dwarf ambles down the street, complaining to himself about some discrepancies in wages.

A sparrow sings from a tree. A greeting of sorts.

Even in a place as grand as The Baying Hound, Lilith was sure to keep her tail tucked underneath her to ensure no one trampled it. She found herself sitting with a mixed group, and she eyeballed them all carefully.

"So," she leaned in, resting her elbow on the table and her chin subsequently in her palm "Who wants to go first?" she eyed Atlas, her eyebrows raised "Why not you?"

With his back to the wall, Atlas takes in the scene before him. The mix of people crammed into this tavern is astounding, but what is even more interesting is the lack of blood. All this steel mixed with big egos and a constant source of mead, and yet I haven't seen one argument turn to fists or blade. Probably for the best, but a it sure lowers the entertainment factor for the evening.

Looking around the table Atlas observes an interesting mix of individuals, but the Liontaur seems to be the one that holds his attention. That would likely be because she's looking at him and starting to speak...

...Well, I guess I'll go first then. Maybe with the right words one of these folks will have my back when it matters.

Atlas leans forward, puts his forearms on the table, interlocks his thumbs and first few fingers and looks around at the group. "Sure, I'll play along. They call me Atlas and I'm from South Harbor. This will be my first time making the trip, so I'm open to pointers if anyone has them."

Atlas takes another look around at the group and sits back. He picks up his mug and takes a swig of his mead while waiting for the next stranger to introduce themselves.

Inside, I feel both pleasantly overwhelmed by so many new things to see, and also uncomfortable with the size of the crowd. Trying to quietly blend in, I listen as people make introductions. I prepare myself in advance to make a fairly generic introduction if requested, but completely fine if not noticed as well. When the chance presents itself, I meander on outside.

I eventually introduce myself to the gnome. "Hi, I'm Mack! What are you carving there? It's looks very interesting."

After a quick conversation with the gnome, hoping to learn a word or 2 in his language, I make my way over to the sparrow. Not being fluent in any avian languages, I do my best to communicate, trying to make a new friend. "Any good, safe places to sleep up there for the night?", I ask in whistle and chirping form.

Taelith sits in silence for a moment. Being slightly uncomfortable he fidgets in his chair for a moment and then speaks up

"Hello. I am Taelith Fenlandel. I have joined this caravan as a means of quenching my wanderlust. "

Taelith leans back again

Maybe I said too much. Do they really care why I am here?

"Lilith Parrim of Chessford, home of many fine merchants." She allowed a slight amount of sarcasm drip on the last words. "and no advice, as I am also a first timer. My reason...purely monetary."

She removes her arm from the table and stretches, glancing around the room. "I am astounded at how many people there are."

The gnome looks, with squinted eyes up at Mack, then back at the ball. "Sphere I 'spect." He says in plain and unbroken Common. Then he jesters a thumb and knife in the direction of the tavern door. "Th'r I 'spect." He says with a smirk.

Then noticing the dwarf in the road, the gnome jumps aptly to the ground and jogs to his friend. "Angus..." is all you hear as the turn off down the street.

Atlas's eyes follow the halfling as he walks out of the tavern, but they do not give away his opinion on the departure. As each of the patrons introduces themselves he nods and smiles. After the liontaur's comments everyone goes silent.

With an audible 'humph' and a look of frustration Atlas says, "My, what a joyful bunch." He sets his mug down again and leans in, looking each of them in the eye.

"Look here, we don't have to be friends on day one. However, we are about to make a journey into dangerous lands and there is a good chance that we'll see battle. If we all try to do this as individuals we're going to be slaughtered, as are the innocent people that we are being paid good money to protect. Now let's try this again. I'll start.

I am good with a sword and shield. You'll note my bow, but you can pretty much ignore that since I'm lucky if I can hit the broad side of a barn with it. When it comes to the battle field, indecision is death, so I make my decisions quick and dive in adjusting as I need to. You, elf, you look annoyed with the rest of us, but I'll be the one keeping the monsters back so you can put that twig of yours to good use. I feign to my left, so don't you dare shoot me when I come back to my right. Got it?"

As Atlas starts to talk about the potential battles to come his tone turns from frustration to business.

"And you, taur, what's your approach to this? Are you going to be by my side with that rapier you wear? If so, I suggest my left if we're fighting giants or any large beasts. I'll need room on my right to get a proper swing in. Otherwise, pick what ever works for the occasion.

I know, I talk too much, but better that than ending up in the bugbear's pot.

Now, for the rest of you mutes, what's your deal?"

Atlas doesn't pick up his mead or lean back this time. He's energized and it shows. He looks intently at the next person that speaks up...

Saturday June 7th, 2014 7:42:31 PM

A metallic clattering of clutter and cutlery is heard from the kitchen, as a young maiden of nineteen half backs out and half stumbles with a sheepish grin. A wayward tangle of frizzy, strawberry blonde curls bounce around haphazardly the more excited she gets.

"S-so sorry! Many apologies!" She cringes, but sounds too innocent (and most likely, too naive) to have meant any harm. "I thought that was my cauldron! Lynne, where have you gotten off to? He looks quite like Lynne, you see, stout of frame and dark of features. Potbellied old Lynne. Full of soup and such a sourpuss."

Her eyes are large and innocent, a mundane and muddy blue flecked with brown, like an armada of toy ships crossing a pond. There is a great deal about her that seems child-like -- despite her now growing more into a form that hardly seems suited for it -- and everything from her manner of dress to the way the witch presumably summons her sorcery (for clearly, what else could this one be) strikes you as someone who is Strange...due to them never having seen anything normal for comparison.

[ooc]I won't interact with the party yet because I'm not sure if I was approved last month or not. I seem to be having more troubles with Google Drive. This link is the same sheet I emailed everyone last time, but might not be working for you. I'll remake it fresh on a new sheet right now to see if that fixes the the error. Lilith nods, smirking as she does so.
"You feign left yet expect me to stand there, Human?" she stands, mainly as a display of just how large of a creature she is. "I would advise you to adjust around me! As for my rapier," she run her fingers along the weapon's casing "While it has seen a few battles, I would not consider myself the most handy. Now if you want a little extra gold or a trap disabled, I dare say I'm just the girl for that!"

She breaks into a full on grin. Already she liked the human, straight to business. Coming to Edenmoor had not been a mistake.

She does notice a chatter behind her, and what appears to be a fuzzy wemic kitten bouncing along amongst the shoulders (and heads!) of the others in the tavern, it was only as it drew closer did she recognize it as someone's hair.

Readying to Leave Edenmoor
Sunday June 8th, 2014 9:41:49 PM

Atlas, Lilith and Taelith all find themselves at the same table within The Baying Hound. All have a similar story of this being their first adventure, their chance to begin their own lives. A few others at the large table are of the same cloth too. Looking forward to tomorrow and all the possibilities that it will bring. A clamor from the kitchen draws the attention of several of the tables nearest the disturbance. A young maiden of nineteen half backs out and half stumbles with a sheepish grin. A wayward tangle of frizzy, strawberry blonde curls bounce around haphazardly the more excited she gets. The woman is apologizing a roar of lion coming from the kitchen is her reply. The head chef, a liontaur, now quite put out about whatever precisely transpired in the kitchen Several low whispers indicating the foolish girl is still lucky to have her head bounce about the other tables. The comments are in jest, but with a small amount apprehension to bely the temparment of the chef.

As Kesabrey backs from the kitchen and a very upset liontaur, she spies a nearby table with an opening, across from another liontaur who is currently talking to an elf and a human.

Dinner has been server with a single glass of mead, compliments of the Mailed Fist. Shortly after all tables have food upon them, a man stands banging a dagger against a metal tankard.
Bung! Bung! Bung! Bung! Bung!

"Your attention please everyone. I know better than to insult many by naming you ladies and or gentlemen, but your attention please"
chuckles, and smiles ripple through the crowd and the tall human speaks. His hair is long and pulled back into a ponytail and scattered with white, marking him in his mid to late forties. His physique is still strong, his posture ramrod straight, with pulled back shoulders and his eyes carry wisdom and well won experience within them. "Many of you know me, but as many more do not, allow me to introduce myself. I am Garret Von Klempt, captain in The Mailed Fist and the caravan commander of the morrows excursion. This will be one of the larger trains moving west this year and so we are making an early start of it. Everyone is to be staged and prepared to as escort at 5 bells. Do not be late Flannagan"
A table across the room explodes into laughter and a voice calls back, "It was just the one time, never shall I live it down?"
Von Klempt fires back "Still surprised she stuck around to marry you.!"
More laughter.

Garret grows serious again, "5 Bells. Be ready at 5 bells, do not show up at five bells. We meet at the West gate. Enjoy your dinner and I will see you all in the morning."
Garret sits back down and the crowd inside The Baying Hound erupts into a series of 3 stout cheers of Huzzah.

Kess heads to the empty seat as the room errupts into the cheers. She smiles widely to the assembled, apparently never having seen such exotic peoples before recently, but instantly seems even more obsessed wtih the free mead. She does not drink this, but seemingly does everything else you can possibly imagine to it: odd tests and strange measurements and made-up math on slender fingers. At the end of it all, she only pours enough to fill up one of her empty potion vials, and unceremoniously slides the tankard over to the liontaur without ever taking a drink.

"Hello! Salutations! Please do not eat me!" She does not seem quite so nervous as perhaps...(in)factual...though she does seem to believe in her statement's validity. "I would hate to be food ever so much. I have never seen a great many things just yet. I haven't seen the inside of a stomach either, which might be quite splendid, but I suppose there's not much else to see after that. I know! I shall endeavor to make that the _last_ thing on my list. Of course! Is that agreeable, Miss Liontaur? That we shall save the eating for last? I fear I would be a terrible healer if I could not see my patients. Well, unless you ate something that disagreed with you. I do enjoy conversations. Have you seen Lynne?"

Kess looks into her eyes with an inquisitive gaze, apparently assuming that you must know who she is talking about, without any sense of pretense. Blue brown eyes are soon distracted by the other two patrons as she turns.

"Oh my, an elf!" she exclaims in almost perfect elven, though it does carry the strain of someone who is pronouncing some words phonetically, as if she has learned it from books. "Are you an elf? Or are you a human with pointier ears? Are you an elf with rounder ears?" She is still speaking elven as she turns to the human. "I can heal both of your broken ears, you know. I'm your healer. That's why I'm here tonight!"

She muses at something, pouting in a manner she really shouldn't have cause to do any longer. Unless this is all some elaborate act, this girl clearly has no idea how old she really is, or how much her form is filling out these days. She chews her lip and returns to common. "Um, well to be fair, I don't know many healing spells yet. Hardly any, really. I'm not sure these Mailed Fist postmen are the most competent to hire someone with my lack of skills. So try not to get hit, okay? Why do letter carriers get attacked so often, do you think? To clench correspondence in a fist so? Curious."

Before Atlas can respond someone starts banging their tankard and asking for attention. He smirks and nods towards Lilith before turning towards the man that is speaking. He puts his full attention towards the man, blocking out the distraction caused by a girl as she makes her way through the crowd...

...Atlas joins in the cheer, finishes off his mead, and returns his attention to the table just as the walking distraction plops herself down. With a quick glance he notes that no one is chasing her and that the yelling from the kitchen seems to have died down. However, once again his attempt to speak is put to a halt as the girl starts spouting in common and what sounds like elvish...

...As the she takes a breath Atlas jumps in. "My, there is energy about you isn't there! If you will allow me to interupt, my name is Atlas, this hear is Lilith and that's Taelith. Did I hear you mention healing spells? I would love to hear more about that. And don't fret about what you don't know. Even the smallest of healing spells would be a welcome addition to our little group here. What can we do to convince you to join us as we march tomorrow? Oh, and I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name?"

Atlas flashes a friendly smile towards the girl and then gives a look of encouragement to Lilith and Taelith in hopes that they'll help win her over.

While exploring outside, I hear what sounds like some announcements going on back inside the building. I make my way back indoors, while trying not to be rude breaking off my conversation with the sparrow. I chirp and whistle my apologies that I must cut this short, and head back indoors.

I take a look around to see if there is anything extra-interesting to see since I left, and work my way back towards the table I was initially at. It seems a little fuller now then before, but still a few empty places to sit.

Why does Atlas think that I am annoyed? Did I say something wrong or was it my expression? Maybe my attempts at being courteous have been lost on this group. I'll try harder this time

Taelith with the largest smile he can muster responds to group "Your elvish is quite good. Yes I am Elven. As my new acquaintance Atals said, I am Taelith. Taelith Fenlandel. I am a marksmen, a pretty good one. I hope that doesn't come off as bragging or anything like that."

Taelith stops for a moment as if thinking then blurts out suddenly "Who is Lynne?"

The maiden jumps up, hands on her hips and chin jutted out in the most heroic way she can manage. "My name is Kesabrey Peldimure Jesk! But my friends call me Kess or K.J." As she tries to sit back down she realizes that many of the things tied and dangling to the outside of her backpack are impeding the process.

"Lynne is -- Wait, Lynne! There you are!" The witch reaches around and clunks a cast iron cauldron onto the tabletop. It strikes you as being remarkably unremarkable. "Don't run off like that! How am I ever to cook my potions with you galavanting all about? Were you trying to woo that tea pot again? This is no time for romance, we've a job to do!"

"And this, my esteemed lords and ladies, is Sir Duncan the Pale." With great flourish she retrieves a dented metal bucket, having long since lost its luster, and places him atop the table with several bows. "This brave knight was once enchanted by dark sorcery to the form you see before you. His is a steadfast companion, who was too noble to ask for any payment for this mission. He rarely asks for anything as he can no longer speak. He is quite content to carry my burdens, though. And be worn like a helmet. I'm not sure how much he likes that part, though, what with all the getting hit and all."

She looks between her two containers with great interest. "These are my friends! I told you they call me Kess. Wait, what? Bess? What do you mean you've been calling me Bess this whole time? Lynne! I have half a mind...!"

While the sentence is left hanging, you suspect it might well be finished after all.

She smiles back at the group. "Small healing is good indeed! I can heal small things. Oh, ooh! Or I could make you smaller to begin with! That would make the small healing seem even bigger, no? Yes? Yes!" She seems quite pleased with this sudden theory.

Mack directs himself back inside and locates a space to occupy just a few spots from Taelith. The halfling hops up and finds a plate of hot food with a side dish of spiced apples.
Kesa introduces herself and the a small group is beginning to form. One that perhaps could watch each others back or at least have each others back in the great caravan that will be on the road in the morning.

The toothless woman waves off Lilith and gives her a hearty 'Bah' and is gone

The evening progresses and becomes night and The Baying Hound begins to empty out.

5 Bells comes quickly, the sun has not lit the horizon yet, but the west gate area is crowded with activity.

[ooc]Many apologies, you beat me to the punch! I type too slow. Here's a bit and a bob:[/ooc]

"Technically speaking" - the seeming dullard, if never dull girl, informs the passerby - "nuts can bloom. Or at least grow. It depends on how poetical you're being. Oh don't mind her, Lynne. No cause to be scared: we've many square jawed, barrel chested friends to help us in a pinch." You get the immediate impression that she might be referring to literal barrels and chests. At this point, you'd put nothing past her.

In her youth the witch watched her mentor cauldron-cook in fascination. One day, when Kess thought she heard the old woman refer to her own cauldron as "Lynne," the wry hag joked that it was short for Bubblin' and called her Lynne forever more, perhaps to humor or entertain the girl. Kess was never fully satisfied with that answer, however: she was positive that it was supposed to stand for Boilin', and that made the matter as plain as the nose on her face: "Boy Lynne" means it's a boy, not a girl! Years later, when Kess was ready for a cauldron of her own, she made sure to name it Lynne as well...but in the right way this time.

Trying to discern a male spirit from the Realm of Shadows to bind as her familiar was no easy task. She thought the more violent ones would likely be male, but she had never been good with the sight of blood, so when the night--

"Oh! Pretty!" She seems to lose track of whatever thought she was juggling. "That's a splendid sword!" She leans in close to inspect the length of the rapier. "My word, you all have weapons! I wonder if a sword might make a good ingredient for my pot? Perhaps it might make a wit keen, or a cheese sharp. Possibilities, possibilities. Humorously numerous...or is it numerously humorous? I suppose as long as they're not tumorous. I am your healer."

The lass suddenly sees the halfing move through the crowd. In a crisp and brisk Gnomish she asks, "Are your ears broken too? Because I could fix that."

As I'm enjoying the spiced apples, I notice Kess seeming to address me in a concerned fashion, but I can't make out what she's saying. I clean out my ears with my pinkie finger, and reply "I'm sorry... what was that?" in Common?

The next morning, I try to find a quiet place to sit off to the side of the gathering and meditate/relax while I take it all in. I enjoy the fresh morning air, and try to get a good feel for the rest of the group to see who is bright and chipper in the morning, and who isn't.

As I slightly adjust my pack to make my banjo a little more comfortable, I look at the nearby squirrel watching me, "I think I'm going to need to pick up a harmonica somewhere."

Atlas strolls into the West Gate area and looks around for a familiar face. The first person he sees is that strange halfling from the other night. Between him and...what's her name...Kess, between him and Kess this sure is turning out to be different than I thought. Well, I'm sure there's a lesson to be had here, I just need to watch for it.

On that thought Atlas walks over to the halfling and introduces himself. "Hey there, my name is Atlas, you were at our table a few times last night." Atlas pauses to see if there is any recognition in the halfling's face. It is hard to tell, so he continues, "I didn't realize that you play the banjo. Would you mind playing a few songs for us once we get moving?"

As Atlas asks the question he takes a look around and sees a few of the others from their group last night. There they are! Before the halfling can answer he raises his left hand to his mouth and lets out a high pitch whistle. When they see him he waves them over. Then he looks back at the halfling and says, "do you know Drunken Sailor? That's one of my favorites." He gives the halfling a big grin as he thinks about that song.

Each individual arrives at the West gate and looks about for those they saw and briefly met the night before. Others can be seen doing likewise and all falling into little cliches and groups. Atlas, Mack, Taelith and Lilith see one another first and greet each other in the darkness of the early morning. Or perhaps the very ate night as the sun has not shone itself yet.

Garret walks through the crowd nodding and greeting the assembled guard of the caravan. He carries a steaming metal mug of something that your nose cannot quite place. "All right, all right, all right. Looking good people looking good. OK the merchants, homesteaders, travelers and Warrd only knows what and who else will be gathering in about 30 minutes as the sun comes up. You can group up as you see fit and stagger yourselves about the caravan. I'll rearrange you if I think it necessary. Those who are mounted, gear up and move outside the gate and picket up there. I'll be with you and will be shuffling you down the ranks of our charge. The rest of you hold tight.
Garret then swings up onto a tan stallion and moves the horse out the west gate.

The merchants and others making up the caravan are hardly as punctual as Garret. It takes well into the mid morning before the caravan departs through the west gate. Sheep, goats, cattle and livestock of all kinds accompany the caravan. Wagons great and small pulled by oxen, horses and mule. The exodus of Edenmoor is truly a grand sight and a lengthy one.

Finally, though, it is done and underway. The next stop of true safety lies at The Tree of Parting over 150 miles and 10 days away.

Kess looked down at her mismatched socks. She kept musing over a theory that the road would have been softer if she'd worn them on the outside of her shoes, and inwardly cursed herself for not trying it, but there was nothing for it now. The caravan moved at a surprisingly good clip, considering how many people and livestock counted among their number.

Every once in awhile, others catch glimpses of her suddenly becoming entranced with some mundane or meaningless object by the roadside. A pebble here, a splinter there. She wasted a good five minutes trying to secure a _footprint_ of some sort of barefooted humanoid; all you could see her end up with was a vial full of dirt, but she seems quite pleased with her painstaking work on it, smiling at the glass in satisfaction.

"I made this, you know. Not the footprint. At least, I don't think so. I don't remember being that small in awhile. Or one footed. At least, not at the same time. But the glass, that I did make. It turns out the craft becomes rather necessary for the Craft when you don't live in a city." She sighs, trying to adjust her pack straps. "Though I suppose my tools will do me little good over the next leg of our journey. I've collected a foot, we're on a leg: clearly we're working are way up. How auspicious!"

Kess blinks at Atlas and Mack. "You both know a drunken sailor? And you enjoy his company?"

Lilith stands between Mack and Atlas, absentmindedly drawing circles in the ground beneath her with her paw. "Count me out for sing-a-longs, I'm terribly tone deaf." She yawns loudly, realizing it had been sometime she had been awake at 5 bells of her own accord.

"And what is this of drunken sailors? They're at least easy to pick pocket, that much I know as fact" another fierce yawn "But I wouldn't recommend sticking around for when they sober up"

He is a bit confused by Kesabrey's mention of sailors and says slowly "I don't think we have to travel by ship. Do we?"

"<b>Hey Atlas! A pleasure to meet you. I'm not really all that great at playing, but I do enjoy it and find it relaxing. I'm not sure I know that song, but I'll definitely play a few tunes to try to quicken our travels.</b>" As the rest of the group makes its way over, I wish each a good morning, and introduce myself to those that I have not already done so. I am a little saddened that I don't see the sparrow anywhere in sight. I was pretty sure I had talked him into joining us. As a minotaur walks over to join us, I'm feeling more and more like the sparrow would have been a perfect addition to round out our little group.

Once we're out the gates and well on our way, I pull out the banjo and try to play something nice for the group, and relaxing for the animals (performing check of 17 (d20 roll of 11 with +6 modifier)).

OOC: I'm guessing I don't really need to do a roll for that, but thought I'd try it to make sure I'm doing it correctly.... and just to make sure I don't play so poorly that the animals stampede and trample me. :)

"Bonivus, didn't we meet the other day at the recruiter's table? My apologies, I never did introduce myself properly. I am Atlas Sunowl, from South Harbor. It is good to see you again. And to answer your question, no, we are not traveling by ship on this journey that I am aware. We're just having a conversation about one of my favorite songs called Drunken Sailor. It seems that this group has never heard it before. Please tell me you have, because I'm NOT going to sing it by myself." Atlas looks up at Bonivus, his smile is still there, but there's also a look of hope on his face. Similar to the look he had as a kid when they walked past the baker's shop and all the sweets were out on display.

When Kess hears that it is a song she begins to nod sagely, her hair bouncing around like coiled fire. She is unsure if the halfling is playing the same one, but she begins clapping her hands and singing somewhat inaudible words under her breath. What first sounds like singing made-up lyrics really turns out to be her casting a spell.

[i][Spell, Lv 0: Prestidigitation][i]

She begins to tap a stone laddle against her cauldron, using it as a drum. As she's no talent for music she stops herself at a slow though constant beat. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Two more laddles, wooden and ivory, float up from her pack and begin clacking together above her head. Tap. Clack. Tap. Clack.

"Good morrow, Mister Minotaur. I fear you cannot eat me, as I've promised that meal to Miss Liontaur. She's waved me off so far, but I am very sweet, and like any dessert she might well change her mind before the check comes."

She continues her simple percussion beat, unsure of what the halfing has in store.

Exiting Edenmoor Dan K
Thursday June 12th, 2014 12:37:29 AM

The caravan proceeds down the west road, though to name it such is quite generous. Within 10 miles of Edenmoor, it could be classified as such. The people of Edenmoor maintain the laid rock and cleared ground leading to their small town, as well as send patrols often enough to deter man and beast from venturing any closer. Beyond this, and for the rest of the 140 miles, the road is nothing more than a 20' earth trodden path. Years of travel and thousands of travelers by foot, wagon and beast have made it so. But is it not paved, nor cared for and most of, it is not protected from man, beast or elements.

Garret rides up and down the length of the great caravan fairly often at first, picking out members of the Mailed Fist and others who have temporarily signed on, such as yourselves. Relocating them as he deems fit up and down the column.

The party ends up on the northern side, somewhere in the middle of the 70 or so wagons. that is where you meet Mr. Highfoot, a Halfling scholar with intentions to study the social interactions of those who call The Tree of Parting home. Most others are moving goods and will continue onward to the west and eventually The Emerald City within Culverwood.

"Keep a weathered eye to our north boys. Those are the Red Hills you can see just over the horizon there" Garret Von Klempt instructs as he positions you. To the north indeed you can see the land rise into a cloudy haze. Stretching the breadth of the northern horizon, stand the Red Hills. The home of Trolls, giants and goblins so numerous they pale the count of mosquitoes in a swamp. As Garret passes he slows a bit to seemingly linger within hearing range of Mack's playing and those of sharp eye, catch a smile on the face of the Captain of the Mailed Fist

The first day ends and the the caravan essentially stops upon the road where it sits. Fires are struck and guard rotations deployed. Garret rides down the column and grants the groups he has seemingly created to set their own watches.

She retreats, half skipping and half scrambling. While a variety of odds and ends fall from her pack during the process, Lilith notices that they each seem to fall in a place that they might impede her in some small way. Kess merely clamps her hat down over her ears. "I shall take the last watch, if no one minds. I'm quite used to foraging for ingredients that only like to appear at dawn's breaking. Some are shy, you see. Oh! And I could simply bang upon Lynne even harder, to wake you all up tomorrow!" The cauldron does not appear to give any sort of response; perhaps he is the strong and silent type of inanimate object.

As the travelers make camp the witch walks between you, talking to herself and tracing strange patterns on their left elbows. "Just a little something to help keep you comfortable through the night."

Brackets [][] then close with / inside the last bracket...

Bold [][] b inside brackets, and close with /b
Italic [][] i inside brackets, and close with /i
Spoiler [][] the word 'spoiler' inside, and close with /spoiler (for note passing)

These are the most used brackets. There are one or two more, I think, but these are the ones I use all the time.

Atlas is still squaring by the fire using a stick to poke at it every now and again to make sure it stays burning. Eventually he stands up and and announces, "Fire is ready. Kess, do you need a tripod for your cauldron?"

Not sure if Kess heard him or not, Atlas decides not to ask again. She'll answer in her own time if she wants. He looks around and sees another halfling approaching the group. After introductions all around, Atlas says, "Mr. Highfoot, will you join us for our meal? I am interested to learn more about the Tree of Parting. Who lives there? Why do they build in the tree rather than the ground? It all sounds rather odd, yet interesting."

Before the evening ends Atlas speaks up regarding the watch, "I will take the second to last then. I too have some morning routines, so that works well for me." Atlas eventually pulls out his bedroll and prepares to rest, his weapons and gear by his side just in case.

A Night by the Fire Dan K
Friday June 13th, 2014 9:31:29 AM

The group sets a watch and strikes up a fire. Similar activity is going on up and down the length of the caravan. Fires spring up on the north and south side by each of the 70 wagons. Music can be heard on the wind, along with the braying of sheeps and goats and murmurs of conversation as everyone settles in for the evening. Food is distributed from several wagons to all in the caravan. Fresh fruit of melon and pears, hard bread, carrots, cheese and roasting chickens are distributed to all groups to cook and eat over the fires.

The lone travellers gather near the wagons they were close to and introduce themselves. Mr Highfoot is one such individual. He appears as most halflings do to bigger folk. He's dressed for the road, carries no visible weapons nor wears armor and has a well cared for leather satchel over one shoulder and an unlit long pipe in his mouth.

As he sits down, he agrees to Atlas' request. "The Tree of Parting is a wondrous place. simply fantastic, or at least that is what I have been lead to believe. Never been thee myself, but read up on it. I've exchanged messages and missives about it with colleagues." he pauses to take a bite of a pear after stowing his pipe. "Who lives there is a difficult question for me, as I did not look into it beyond arranging my stay. I exchanged messages with Ciyradyl, who runs the Inn where I will make my temporary home while working. I have heard that the tree is a place where many come to study and research and so the population and who you might meet is always in a state of flux." He breaks into ta chuckle and grin, "Which is precisely why I am going there as that is what I am studying. The Anthropology of the Tree itself." He takes another bite of his pear. "Now as to why build in a tree and not on the ground? I am pretty sure that answer lies in the dangerous wilds that surround it. Izen and the badlands to the west and south and the Red Hills to the north. Nasties a plenty friends. Ciyradyl assures me the Tree is quite safe though. I did not go into details with her." Mr Highfoot falls silent, finishing his meal and tossing some chicken to the edge of the fire light where a large dog has wandered up and scarfs the food down. The halflling pats the ground beside him, and the hound moves to him and lays down. He pets the dog and then makes himself comfortable, using it as a pillow.

Mack strikes up a tune and the night passes.

Day breaks, a quick breakfast is had and the caravan is underway once again.

The Red Hills are still present to the north and into the afternoon an pillar of smoke can be seen far into the distance within them.

To the south, Izen and the Badlands. The ground is broken and strewn with rocks and crags. Small gullies and vales can easily hide raiders and monsters such as ogres, trolls, orcs and goblins and you can see why this open road with slow moving caravans could make for easy targets.

The tripod Atlas offers is a welcome surprise, though he might be in for one of his own. Over the span of ten minutes, her cauldron grows from the size of a tea kettle to something large enough for several to ride within! It is far easier to see the detailing now. While far from exquisite craftsmanship, the non-being known as "Lynne" is adorned with some simple, humanizing decorations. It appears that the opening is meant to be a mouth. Needless to say, Kess needs a stout tripod indeed! "I'm only able to lift light or small things," she mentions without any trace of regret. "He's a bit too big even when he's dieting."

I fear I'll never get this. What do you think, Lynne?" To your surprise or amusement, a belch is heard; Kess gets a sour look on her face. "Manners, manners! At least close that gaping maw of yours." Instead he shifts his pack so he can use it as a pillow and stretches out on his bedroll to get some precious sleep before his shift begins. His final thoughts before falling asleep are about a comment from Lilith earlier in the day, Who knew that she was a thief? And how can she pick pockets at that size? The Road Dan K
Monday June 16th, 2014 9:32:22 PM

And so the days pass, The Red Hills to the north and the broken lands of Izen to the south. Mack tries to get to know those travelling in the immediate few wagons, in front and behind. The merchants are all talkative enough and all plan to continue past The Tree of Parting with the exception of Mr. Highfoot. The Halfling, who is riding the large hound seen a few nights ago chuckles at Mack's remark on attack.
"No need to worry about that I would say. This train is too large for anything but a dragon and if that happens you won't need to fret for long. Single or a pair of wagons, now that is good and dangerous in these parts."

Other merchants agree, it is why such trains or covetted, and apparently not all comers are allowed. "Lots are drawn and depending on business and cargo, you get more lots in the drawing." Is how Thornberg, a human textile merchant explains it. "Many of us therefore, team up to improve our cargo value."

The party, for their part, begin to get to know each other better as well. Another thing that the merchants near you seem to like. You are told that such cooperation and friendliness from the last minute hires by the Mailed Fist is not expected.

"Past trips, they've caused as much issue as they stopped." offers up a human with elven ancestry by the name of Wyldling.
"Garret's a good man, but not overly inquisitive when he hires on for these things." the silversmith finishes with a mild chuckle.

On the 8th day, about an hour after getting underway, Garret rides to the group, pulling his horse hard to a stop. "You 6 with me." and he begins leading you back the way he came. In short order you now stand off to the side of the road as the rest of the train passes. Two dwarfs and a human boy of perhaps 12 are with you and their broken down wagon. The Dwarfs, a pair of grey bearded merchants by the name of Dubrin and Korbiss, have been discussing at length and great graphic detail just why they are in their current situation ever since you arrived within earshot. It seems unlikely they will conclude to eithers satisfaction anytime soon as from what you can tell, the conversation is citing instances from their childhood. The human boy, whom you've only heard referred to as 'boy' thus far, is under the wagon with some carpentry tools. One rear wheel is completely off and looks to be quite damaged.

Von Klempt provides instructions, ignoring the dwarfs. "Stay with the wagon and see her safely to the Tree." With that, he turns his horse and takes a couple strides to Korbiss and Dubrin. The two men stop their arguing and look over from their seat on the wagon and give Von Klempt their undivided attention.
"I picked out a cross section of arms for you." Von Klempt indicates you with a nod
"That's a generous selection Captain, Thank you." Replies Korbiss
A final nod from the captain and he wheels his horse to gallop back towards the front of the train.

Korbiss and Dubrin resume their conversation, also known as as arguementative insult-fest.

Kesabrey attempts to pick up the broken wheel, falling off balance and landing her backside within the cauldron. A humorous spectacle, though you don't remember Lynne being quite large enough or quite close enough a moment ago. Her blue-brown eyes open wide as she glances down at the rounded, stylized teeth of the lip. "You're getting a little too familiar, Familiar. Make yourself useful and help me witch up this broke down wood work." After a few moments of effort she finally manages to climb out, covering it back up with the wheel as if it were a lid. This clattering actually appears to splinter the wheel even more in the process. "Never fret!"

"If this wheel you'll lend,
we'll set it to mend.
No coins shall you spend,
yet lest we offend:
perhaps a small stipend,
for broth, stock and ends."

"No not odds and ends, you oven of coven. I meant the end to the rhyme. Well we needed one, didn't we?! If I need starts or upstarts, I know who to ask."

The witch pauses in her strange circular arm motions to look up at Bonivus. Then her gaze flicks between him and Lilith. She appears about to say something several times, but always stops herself. There is a slight pause.

Her left hand points rightward to him: "How tall are you?" Her right hand stumbles through the reverse, to her: "How long are you?" Both hands switch who they're pointing at: "How strong are you?"

Atlas takes a moment to observe, then jumps in head first..."Kess, nice job fixing those parts! You're so full of surprises, this particular talent seeming to be one of the more useful on a trip like this. By the way, how are those healing potions coming? Atlas tries to make light of the situation to keep everyone's spirits up. No sense getting worked up over what could happen if we take too long, lets just get it done.

"You're going to need some help putting it all back together though. Bonivus and I should be able to help with the heavy lifting. Mack, would you mind finding a good spot to keep an eye out for trouble?" Isn't there a rule about halflings and trouble? On second thought... [b]"Mack, I repeat, keep an eye out for trouble. That means watch to make sure no trouble is coming. It does not mean to create trouble so that you can watch it. Just...just...don't hurt us, got it? Dang halflings are so unpredictable! "Also, see if you can figure out how much longer before the end of the caravan passes us by, and likely our lives if we cannot get this thing going before then. OK, a little worked up doesn't hurt if it means they hurry

There's only so many people that can work on the wagon at one time, so as Atlas starts forward he considers the others. "Lilith dear, would you be so kind as to politely shut those two up? Charm or claws, your call. All their bickering is going to ruin this beautiful day. And Taelith, another hand over here wouldn't hurt. Bonivus and I will lift if you can make the finer adjustments for us."

The group forms up about the broken down wagon and Kesa is quick to lend a rhyming hand. The Mending spells help, but the Witch notices that some pieces of the wheel are completely missing. Though her assistance has taken several hours off of the needed repairs to it. The axle is another matter where the wheel fits to the wagon. A replacement needs to be crafted. The boy is currently doing just that.

Atlas tells the Mack to keep a sharp eye out and then he and Bonivus move to assist with the wagon. At this moment though, there is no need as the wheel still requires a few spokes to be installed and the axle needs to be crafted.

Dubrin and Korbiss stop insulting each other with a waving hand and thorough dwarf Bah! You daft gnome! in unison at each other. This instigates a chuckle and the merchants turn in the groups direction as if they just noticed you.

"It'll take Boy at least a day, likely more to craft out a new axle, joint and hitch. Nice work on the wheel lass." Korbiss comments to the group and then specifically to Kesa.
"Like it or not, we are here for the night and will be on our own to the Tree tomorrow." adds Durbin

Mack looks for but cannot spy any trees. The Tree of Parting is still nearly 50 miles away.

The sun makes tracks across the sky and soon enough evening is upon you. Boy is still working, the wheels are complete, minus some of the metal surround and he is working diligently on the axle joint

Turning to the dwarfs he asks, "I know you're merchants, but as dwarfs I assume you know your way with a weapon? Also, while it's a long shot, anything in your cargo that will help us if we're attacked?

Atlas looks around at the openness and cringes. He mumbles under his breath We're sitting ducks out here, then takes a breath and turns to figuring out how to stay alive. "Well, what do you all think? Backs to the wagon if they come, with the witch, bowman and boy in the wagon? We don't want to be split up or surrounded."

ooc: No worries on the healing potion Megan! Atlas is still going to keep bothering Kesabrey though. Atlas asks the the two dwarfs on their combat prowess and both of them shake their heads. "Sorry to disappoint you on the dwarven race, but not all of us know are way about a battle. " Korbiss says.
Durbin goes into the back of the wagon and calls out from there, "Only thing we got that passes as a weapon is a pair of hand axes for splitting wood. " He emerges with them and hands one to Korbiss, "Better than a fist though. Neither dwarf has any type of armor.

Mack moves to the boy and asks him about how pieces might be missing and the rest of the caravan. The boy blinks at Mack once or twice and shrugs
"Happens, wagon was shifting funny, for the last day or two, Probs lost a spoke or two and ground out some of the axle and today she just up and quit. Pieces ain't missing so much as ground into sawdust." As to the rest of the caravan, It has moved on already, doing so right after Garret moved the group to the here

Lilith, who had followed Mack asks about his craft and too that he also shrugs, "Picked it up here and there travelling with the caravans from Emerald City to the Plat. Only thing i member is on these roads in wagons. don't you worry now, I'll have us going by midday tomorrow sure like"

Atlas asks about where and how to set up the night shift and about what he feels is the inevitable attack. Bonivus, Lilth, Mack, Kesa and Taelith have little to add and so Backs to the wagon with the witch, bowman and boy in the wagon and the dwarfs in the wagon as well is what it will be if need be.

Let's get some fires going about 10 paces out, two on each side. Mack, could you and the boy gather all the wood you can find that's not needed for the wagon? Those on watch will keep the fires going."

Atlas takes a deep breath. Do I really talk this much, or is this group just quiet? Maybe they're not used to this sort of thing, it can be stressful. I wish I wasn't so accustomed.

Atlas's suggestion seems sound. I start gathering what I can for a fire. I can double up in whatever shift is convenient. With an attack seeming likely I'm trying to see if there is anything we can put out to give us a little advance warning as to watch direction they are coming from.... Sticks that will snap, any twine or rope with bells or anything else that might make some noise.

Ooc: having some trouble checking my char from campground. I don't have any noisemakers myself, but do have the rope. Atlas puts together a plan and the everyone gets to work. Wood is hard to come by other than what the wagon has. The busted axle, couple wheels and a scattering of hickory. A few small trees can be taken that are relatively close by. What the group does not really have is anyone who really knows how to start a fire. [no one is trained in survival] Lilith has a set of torches , though and so the issue is overcome as she uses one to start up the 4 stacks of wood. For the most part, the wood smolders and pours smoke.

At some point during the day, Kesa wandered off to look for some herbs or flowers or some such thing, and never returned. (Sorry guys Megan emailed me she was dropping out as the Wold was not a good fit for her after all. I hope she changes her mind, but for now we have to consider her out)

Korbiss volunteers to stand watch with Lilith and as Atlas and Durbin are first watch, that puts Korbiss and Lilith on second. Bonivus and Mack take the 3rd.

Late into the first watch, the others have all drifted to a light sleep that something approaches from the east. By this time the fires are producing some light, but not much. The light is more akin to torches than a good camp or signal fire.

Durbin pokes Atlas, "Human on the eastern road. 50' right in the center. I can't tell if he's got a weapon out or not"

Part 1

"This is not so bad" I whisper to my self as I enter in to Edenmoor. Think in my head how I hate crowds. " I just hope I am not too late." Looking around I don't see many people and seem to be all going about daily tasks. "This is strange, I though there would more people around especially with the caravan leaving today"

I politely stop the nearest person and quietly ask where the caravan is. Was told is had already left yesterday.

"Oh no missed it not a good start!"

So using my skills my grandfather taught me(tracking), I started out after it, hopping it didn't have too much of lead. With something this big, picking up the trail was not hard and easy to follow and with me traveling alone I should be able to catch up in no time.

After a fairly easy day of travel at a good pace the tracks seem to be getting fresher and fresher. Thinking to myself the signs show I should catch up tomorrow, but to say about being late. Maybe if I just blend in at the back they will not notice I was no there or just tell I had to say one last good bye to grandfather. Well I will deal with that when I catch them. As day turns to night and then late night I see in the distance smoke. "What is that trouble " I need to carful so I draw my great axe and ready for anything as I slowly approach the poorly made fires. Noticing a figure or two (perception roll to determine friend/foe danger?)....

Ooc: not sure if this is right but next action will be based on if I feel friend/foe/danger or even their action.

Durbin wakes the others and does so in a relatively quiet way. Atlas though is sure the sound of the others waking and grabbing for gear by their packs was easily heard across the short distance. there simply was almost no other real ambient noise out here to help mask them.

Mack keeps his eyes peeled in every other direction looking for some that might be trying to sneak up upon them. It is his ears that come in handy this night though. A few dog like yips reach his ears from the north and the Red Hills. Something ar likely, multiple somethings are approaching from the north

On that note Atlas turns and runs towards the wagons. "Quick everyone, form up like we talked about. The party forms up on the north side of the wagon, directed by Atlas. Durbin and Korbiss climb into the wagon and try their best to get behind the guard rails. Durbin gives an "Aye" to Atlas and both dwarfs are peeking to the north. Boy scrambles under the wagon and brandishes the knife he has been using to work on the axle and ball joint.

Bonivus is awake, grumpy and ready for action on the north side

The stranger on the road runs over and a quick introduction "Hi I'm Crosseye." is made as he draws his bow , aiming north. As he moves up, Crosseye can make out nothing on the hard ground. Likely do to his haste and the fact that is is dark. With things coming from the Red Hills, being caught weher you can be surrounded is never a good idea

Mack makes himself small and with the larger folks about, especially a liontaur and minotaur, its not hard to go unnoticed.

Atlas slows his breathing and takes a warrior's stance in preparation for an enemy charge. His shield is strapped to his left arm, held over his left knee which is positioned in front of his body. His back leg is a step back, ready to push him forward with force if the opportunity presents itself. He can feel the balance of his body as he shifts from foot to foot to test out the ground and make sure that he's properly set. His sword is held in his right hand down by his right hip. He'll raise it when he sees someone, no sense in wasting energy that might be needed later, even that little amount.

He looks at Bonivus, Lilith, and Crosseye and decides to shuffle a little more to the left to make sure that there's enough room to swing his sword and shield without hitting one of them. Then he peers into the darkness, waiting... (perception for anything that would signal that they are close, what they are, etc before they show up in the light: 8+2=10)

Taelith, Crosseye, do you have a shot? Looks like there are 6 of them out there, 3 right and 3 left. Atlas tries to see how many spears the goblin riders have on them, (Perception: 6+1=7), but most of them are too far away to tell with the dim light.

Hold steady! We cannot risk them getting between us and the wagon. Give them another second to get in closer. They cannot have that many spears on them! Bonivus, you all right?

I try to move (eventually) into a position where either Lilith or I is flanking the Gnome/Rider (in M20). (So for this turn, moving 1 diagonally (to L21).

OK, time to try out these sais... I use my flurry of blows to do 2 attacks on the gnome (20 and 13, so I believe 1 hit for 2 damage (forgot to subtract the 1 on that damage roll)).

OOC: Still learning how my attack rolls work. I'm a little confused on a couple of things. I believe my Flurry Of Blows gives me 2 attacks, each at a -1 according to the chart. But in the reading, it they mention a -2 penalty, so I'm not sure which is correct. As for damage, my Sai damage is 1d3, and my Flurry Of Blows damage is 1d4, but I can use my sais WITH my Flurry of Blows. BUT, my flurry of blows uses hands, elbows, knees, etc. So #1 - not sure why the sai damage would be less then the Flurry of Blows damage, and #2 - not sure how to know which made contact - the sai or my elbow, etc. Either way, my damage is -1 due to weak strength. I rolled the lesser damage, 1d3-1. Please let me know if I'm doing this wrong, or if you can help clarify how my attacks work a little better. Thanks! :)

Attack roll 12. (N16)

OoC: I may hit sometime! (3 Misses now) Also to Mack this is my take on your attack rolls you get 3 attacks with flurry. 2 with Sais and additional with flurry but all attack rolls -2. So because of finesse you use dex attack roll would be d20 + 3 (dex mod) + 1 (racial) -2 (flurry) = d20+2. Damage I think would go first 2 attacks as Sais (1d3 -/+ mod) and third attack as flurry (1d4 -/+ mod). At least that is how I see it. Also I am not using anyone names yet as no one has told me theirs. I introduce myself but because the incoming got no names. So don't take offence.

OOC: Thanks Crosseye. I didn't even think about it the way you presented. Learning something new every day. :) If that's the case, I don't get 2 sai attacks then. I was reading it as in my sais are in my hands, but are part of my "flurry of blows" attack as they are considered monk weapons and can be used with it.

DM Dan K A monk flurry of blows allows the monk to make 1 additional attack as if he had two weapon fighting. SO it allows Mack to make 2 attacks, where each attack is at a -2. Mack can decide if the attacks are with a monk weapon or as his unarmed strike, At higher levels when you have magical weapons this play a role. right now if you unarmed strike does more damage, it would make sense to say you strike with your unarmed attack. you can do this while holding the sai's of course, or other objects such as a torch of crossbow. Easiest way is to follow the Flurry of Blows chart. It provides your base attack bonus and tells you how many attacks you get. 1st level Monk makes 2 attacks -1/-1. Mack adds his dex +3, size+1 to get 2 attacks +3/+3 for d4 +str each

The group checks on Lilith. She is hurt bad, has broken out into some horrid rash, but for now she will live. Crosseye begins to clean and dress her wounds and Durbin pulls out a Healers Kit to aid him in his duties. The infection from the Goblin Dog has already taken its toll. The ranger surmises it'll clear up in a a day or so and should get no worse. With no magic, the only help for Lilith is rest and here in the open with over a dozen goblins and half again that many goblin dogs out in the darkness, rest was unlikely.

Lilith gains 1 HP after the hour of work by Crosseye

Good news is that Lilith is the only one hurt. the Dwarfs and 'Boy' kept their heads down and upon their shoulders. What appeared to be strikes against Bonivus, must have simply been tricks of the night and dancing fire light. The minotaur is unharmed.

Crosseye asks about possibly setting a trap about the perimeter. here on a flat nearly featureless road and low grassland though, that is a tall tall order. He is able to do something about the fires, having knowledge and training in getting the most out of brush and live wood. The smoking pyres are soon giving off a healthy 20' glow

Heal checks can help if additional saving throws are required. In this case their is no second roll. you can also
Treat Deadly Wounds: When treating deadly wounds, you can restore hit points to a damaged creature. Treating deadly wounds restores 1 hit point per level of the creature. If you exceed the DC by 5 or more, add your Wisdom modifier (if positive) to this amount. A creature can only benefit from its deadly wounds being treated within 24 hours of being injured and never more than once per day. You must expend two uses from a healer's kit to perform this task. You take a --2 penalty on your Heal skill check for each use from the healer's kit that you lack.

"I hate hit and runs in the middle of the night." Bonivus grumbles to his comrades as he wakes them for another comming fight. He takes up his position guarding the cart on a whim he opts to use his halberd. He readies the pole arm against the potential charge.

" I know what you mean! At least I got some sleep this time." I say to Bonivus. I quickly and silently grab my weapons and get into position, readying for the coming attack. I noc an arrow and patiently wait for the enemy again to be within range.

Not seeing anything yet, I move into a better position to protect Lilith (N20), try to be alert to anything all around (d20+7 perception check of 27), and go into stealth mode (d20+9 stealth check of 16).

I wonder to myself... if I used one of those Goblin heads like a puppet would they be convinced?

OOC: Did we search the bodies? Find anything? Where are the bodies now? Part of the fire since we're lacking fuel? Heads on a stick along our outer protected area? :)

"Too soon...Lilith, get back. You cannot take another round of this. Do you have anything to hit them from range? Bonivus, Crosseye, one of you put yourself between her and them. Mac, keep them from circling around us. I will stay up here and make myself a target."

I take a step out and start yelling curses and insults at them in common with the hope that I can draw them to me. I bang my sword and shield together and prepare for the rush.

--------------------------

I move to J15.

OOC: I am still getting used to this, I cannot believe we did not search them and do something to ward off the others. Also, I did not even think about the horses until someone mentioned them. We should have been protecting them as well. Oh my, it is taking longer to get back into the swing of things than I anticipated. We'll get there :-)
