(OOC: Remember to place and move your character on the map, or explain the movement so that I can move you on the map. Also, remember to have a posting section listing all buffs and their duration, along with a section describing move, standard, full actions.)

Wil completes his summons and casts another buff before moving forward. (I moved forward your standard move of 40 ft, placing you on the front line. The water elemental follows slowly.)

Lornak tries to mask his slow movement in terms of practicality and priority, but he can't hide his annoyance at yet another argument breaking out. "Then maybe you should consider your own charm offensive," one of the watching waiters calls out. "You can't just leave them to die." There seems to be some conversation in the tavern.

Lornak's argument that they need to be cautious does have a point, though. Hmerrin moves forward. Dusan casts a buff on Hmerrin and has his back (moving up 30 feet). Var's attempts to clear the area bring some chuckles, but the flaming building and guy screaming run does cause some onlookers to back away. Asteria moves towards the building but Ethani cannot move from her spot.

Lornak moves forward only to have the dart member dash past them. "It went wrong, it went wrong," he says. "Run!"

"From what?" Toston asks. "Run from what?"

A low growl begins to eminate from the doors to the building. Smoke and flame had blocked the doors. Now it moved from out of the building, shaking wind chimes and condensation with a rythmic thud. A large column of smoke twists in the wind, as two hot floating embers move fixed within, scanning.

Arcana or Nature Check DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: {The columns of smoke is a large fire elemental.}

And then the smoke creature rushes forth with a growl. It swings at the closest person on the street, Wil, for 12 damage total. It uses it's second slam to hit Hmerrin for 10 damage total. (Reflex DC 16 for both to avoid catching on fire.)

The waiter that criticized Lornak watches this happen. "Never mind," he says as he closes the doors.

Lornak recovers from batting the flames and takes in the scene. (Nature d20=11). He notices Ethani is frozen solid by fear. He moves over to her oblivious of the what danger lurks beyond the threshold. He has a notion she is afraid of the fire and does his best to coax her out of harms way. He puts his hand on her shoulder and attempts to maneuver her over to one alleys or door ways to block her line of sight to the blazing building. "There there, love. Lets just get you off the street." (Move action)

His head jerks in the direction of the scuffle as he hears the attacks the animal makes impact his companions.(keeping the 25 Persp)

"Wuuf", Hmerrin grunts as he's slammed into. The fighter does show some quickness, however, in avoiding the flaming parts.

"Anybody know what the heck Big and Burny is?" he cries, pulling out his axes.
"More importantly, is he gonna feel this?"

Hmerrin lays into the ... whatever.

"Sorry Hmerrin, I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought." Dušan finally manages to say after being dumbfounded by what he is looking at.

Speaking finally helps him get his head together. Just seeing fire is enough to convince Dušan to send his Spectral Hand over to Wilford, who seemed to be hit the hardest. Finding a particularly strong Ley Line, Dušan is able to completely empower Resist Energy - Fire with the Wold's Blood.

Gentle hands move her away from the terror of heat and flame?? Is that the right word...flame.

OH MY SWEET ALEMI...THAT THING IS ALIVE! There are eyes.

It is truly Ethani's nightmare come true. Sweat begins to form on her brow, and every impulse in her body screams to run as far and as fast as possible away from the thing.

But then, out of the corner of her eye, Ethani spots Asteria rushing forward to engage the nightmare.

Hands cold and clammy, Ethani forces herself to turn and face the beast. She CANNOT let Asteria be killed by a nightmare. Yes, that is what this is...just a bad dream!

Retrieving her healing wand, Ethani slowly advances toward the front lines. "A dream cannot hurt me...a dream cannot hurt me..." A mantra slowly emerges from the petrified clerics lips as she takes step after step forward.

Will takes a moment before he realizes that the Fire beast hit him. He then growls.

"Son of a fire-breath piece of coal," Will spits.
He prods the Water elemental to cast Drench upon the Fire beast, but it decides to attempt a melee Slam(Attack: 17- Hit 4)
(OOC: DM Question: Can I cast Drench or dispel magic on this creature)
Will then moves back 10 feet and fires his crossbow but misses. "I hate this crossbow," his curses as he begins to load another bolt.

Lornak is confident Ethani is out of immediate danger. He moves off to join the fight, brandishing his hand crossbow and loading a bolt into it.(Move Action. Standard Action) As he does he tries his best to split his attention between whatever Hmerrin just got attacked by and waking Ethani out of her stupor... "I'm going to help the others now." He says gently to her with his gaze watching the building. Part of him wants to physicality slap her out of it because he needs her awake for the immediate crisis. "We are going to need your help, love. If you are willing..."

Var takes a good look at the nightmare unfodling before him, (Nature Lore: 23) and turns to the onlookers. "Oi! Now would be a good time t' run!" He shouts, and pulls out his longbow.

Several are confused, but Toston finally identifies the creature as a Large Fire Elemental.

Lornak moves back to Ethani to attempt to calm her down. Ethani forces herself forward despite her fear.

Hmerrin makes a full attack on the creature and strikes twice. The monster seems somewhat resistant to the attacks but he definitely feels something.

Dusan uses his spectral hand to cast resist energy 10 on Wil. Toston buffs himself and closes in (acro not needed - there is no AoO when approaching an enemy.) Asteria attempts to attract the fire elemenal, but it seems too stupid to actually fall for that. She swings but misses.

Wilford steps back to fire the crossbow (Elemental gets an AoO - AC 23, 4 damage, 3 fire damage resisted). His water elemental swings but misses.

Var finally fires and misses wide.

The elemental reaches back and swings at Asteria (crit confirmed with AC 22) for 4/8 damage, 7/14 fire damage, then swings and hits Hmerrin (AC 27) for 3 damage, 2 fire damage.

The dart member continues to run, sobbing. "I'm so so sorry."

Will feels a bit more confidence as Dusan's resist energy takes hold. He thanks Dusan and calls up his Shadow creature from the amulet. "Water elemental, Rebecca," He asks as the shadows around him begin to shift.
Will's original Water element begins to disappear leaving a pool of water beneath it. "I have an idea," Will says but stops to wait for Rebecca to form.
Will walks carefully through the others and takes up a position on the other side of the fire elemental to flank. (40ft)

Dušan panics as Asteria takes a mighty blow from the elemental and almost loses his grip on the Ley Line. Recovering, he sends out his Spectral Hand and casts Cure Moderate wounds on the Asteria.

Nodding numbly at Lornak, Ethani makes her way over to Asteria and taps her with her Wand of Cure Light Wounds, restoring 7 more HP to her sister. The wave of heat coming from the fire elemental almost pushes her past the breaking point, and it is all Ethani can do to stand her ground and try to help Asteria.

Lornak is taken aback a moment as the large fire elemental emerges. "Huh." Leaves his lips as he focuses on it. He fires a bolt at the elemental hoping that it will do some kind of damage to bring it down. (Attack action d20=20, 5 dmg) He then quickly reloads his crossbow. (Move action)

He hears Ethani mouth a mantra, he assumes to waylay the trauma of the flames. He continues to try to keep her grounded. "Hang in there, love." He says.

Toston misses. Asteria misses. Hmerrin misses. Lornak's bolt connects, but doesn't do enough damage to penetrate. It looks bad.

But some of the other members begin to feel better. Var connects with both arrows. Asteria is healed by Dusan and Ethani.

Wil shouts for someone to cover him as he moves into position. (If there's any way that he can sneak around in plain sight, Wil has to explain it.)

The elemental growls, swinging at Toston and then Hmerrin wildly. Neither blow connects.

(Noticed Will hadn't moved.. thought I moved him so I'm resetting + missed RP on that)
Will steps forward 10 foot and fires a bolt from the heavy crossbow.
(Attack 24: Hit: 7)
His shadow grows behind him(Intimidate: 25 - OOC: I assume a sudden shadow would be frightening) and moves in front of the spectral hand. The shadow forms a large, ominous wave and crashes into the fire elemental(Drench) (Cold Damage: 2)
(OOC: Can I also assume there is a large puddle of water in front that may stop it from moving forward?)
Wil loads another bolt while celebrating a bit for his good luck with the crossbow.

Lornak breaths a word of dismay as the bolt strikes and does little to nothing to the Fire Elemental. He is beside himself when he realizes everything he can bring to bare against the creature will be ineffectual. He blinks.

"I'm useless..." He mouths. His mind races for a solution. "What if we can reverse summon him...?" His head whips around to the left and right, then behind him." Where did that Dart go?!" He yells. He scans the area attempting to locate the Dart man that ran out of the burning building.

"On it Hmerrin!" Dušan responds sending his Spectral Hand to the fighter and casting Bull's Strength.

Dušan considers Lornaks suggestion, "I could try, but I have not had much success with such things in the past. And if it was summoned by a coven or another group, it could be well beyond me."

Scooting to the side of Asteria, Ethani raises her hand and fires an icicle into the creature. 6 ice damage. Ignore d20.

Toston calls out to Lornak, "You got a melee weapon? Maybe you could join the fray and maybe help one of us who can damage it hit the creature better. We all seem to be having a hard time hitting it right now."

Wil manages to hit the elemental with 2 damage. His "shadow" water elemental attempts to be intimidating (don't think he is attempting to be a shaken roll) but the fire elemental seems to act more mindless, though it does seem to avoid the water. The water elemental does some nice damage to its vulnerability (cold damage 2) and attempts to stretch that by adding a puddle that stops doing movement. Growling, the fire elemental stomps his foot in the puddle, creating a batch of steam.

(DM The steam surrounds the puddle of water, producing a giant cloud that acts as obscuring mist. It will last for two rounds.)

Toston whiffs and suggests that Lornak switches to melee. Hmerrin whiffs and asks for a strength buff from Dusan. Dusan complies using his spectral hand. Var manages to get in another 7 damage. Asteria misses.

Lornak, after missing again, realizes that they need a better idea of what they face, suggesting a "reverse summons." Fortunately, the dart remains nearby, albeit ready to bolt. Dusan considers the odds depending on the summons type.

Ethani, facing her fears, strikes hard with 6 cold damage.

The fire elemental swings at the water elemental and connects (AC 22) for 4 damage and 6 burn damage. It swings wildly at Asteria (14). If a fire elemental could look hurt or tired, this would be how it looks.

Toston takes a swift action to charge his elven curveblade and a free action to move five feet gaining flanking with Asteria. He then attacks the elemental.

The flanking was just enough to allow Toston to hit the creature and he manages to strike it even through the concealment of the fog (19 vs AC; 89 vs 20; 5 damage)

Unfortunately even with the flank Toston's attack was not enough to get past the creature's defenses (OOC: 5 does not get passed its DR :( ).

The Tide consolidates around the idea of simply putting the creature down, allowing the Dart member to run from the group. Despite the creature's cover, the team rises to the challenge.

When it is over, burning ash is all that remains from the fire elemental that moves no longer.

More fighting sounds are heard from the building and flames begin to arise from more places. The team is not done yet, as they contemplate the people inside.

"Oi, I burned my robe," Will complained and then looked on as more flames shot up everywhere.
"Don't we have a fire brigade anywhere to put these flames out? Any brave people willing to man a bucket!"
Wil shouts.
"Let's get these people out of here!" He says as he heads for the closest building and searches for anything he can use to put out the flames. (Perception: 11)
Wil directs his shadow to drench some of the flames as he runs into a building.
The shadow seems to just peter out as the wave grows and just crashes and disappears leaving anyone around it drenched. (Perception: 8)

Lornak is astounded first by the scream that comes from the Fire Elemental and then from Ethani. He hesitates for a moment as he watches the creature crumple. He stows his rapier and moves to gather up his crossbow, all the while keeping an eye on Ethani. He does not wish to be considered by her to be an enemy but clearly her hysteria isn't allowing her to know reality. "And Bested It you have my love!" He says to her, trying to get her to ease down. "You can wake now!"

Behind him he hears the cries of those still inside the building and is torn as to what to do next. He defaults to his original plan of squelching the flames.

To the cheers of onlookers and gasps of where the fire brigade is, the Tide slowly approaches the building, gathering at the front entrance. And you find yourselves at a crossroads. Your perceptions are good enough that you can see the building is in bad shape. Var opens the doors. The pathway is clear but you can feel the heat rushing out. Team members can also here more shouting and the firing of crossbows. Anyone alive in the building would be on the second floor, it sounds.

Some of you want to enter the building and help others come out. Others want to stay out here and try to put out the fire. And some begin to cast buffs.

1) How long do you plan to stay out here receiving buffs. With the clock ticking, you may only have one round.

2) Who stays outside, and who stays in? I will allow the team to split the party if desired.

As much of the group begins to rush in, they can see and wave over members of people running out.

Despite much of the smoke and flame, you make it into the room on the second floor where the remaining people are congregated. Much to your dismay, several people are already dead.

You can see dart members to your left, and what appear to be unaffiliated thugs to your right. A couple of members of both sides see The Tide enter but barely pay any attention, focused as they are on each other. From the snippets of argument, you learn that the unaffiliated brought the fire elemental into this fight (by throwing an elemental gem), and now both sides are determined to finish it. Another set of crossbow groups sail over the room. With a sinking feeling, you realize you might have to drag people out, even as the fire begins to spread.

Lornak follows Var's charge up the stairs as people rush past him to escape the burning building. He feels an uncomfortable urgency to vacate the premises himself. He tells himself to make whatever's going to happen next to happen fast. He is completely dismayed when he enters the room and witnesses that the combatants have no desire to end the fight they are engaged in. "Unbelievable!" he curses.

He searches the room for the closest wounded that he can drag out regardless of affiliation and starts to drag them out of the room and back down the stairs. (Move Action) (Standard Action d20= 13 vs CMD +5 feet for every 5 points past targets CMD)

"We got just over half a minute before this place comes down," he calls out to his friends. "So, do whatever it is you're gonna do, but in about 24 seconds, we need to run."

The young man notes one of the bodies is really, really burned. And given what he was just fighting, Hmerrin's got a pretty good idea what did it.
Well, maybe it was a boss guy.

"I Hope Yer mum's wern't set on havin' an open casket at yer funerals, 'cuz y'all are gonna leave some ugly corpses if you stay 'n fight!" (Intimidate: 16) Var shouts over the ruckus of the two gangs, hoping to inspire them to chose the Better part of Valour.

He picks up the body farthest from the stairs and gets ready to run back through the hail of crossbow bolts & fire.

Lornak watches the area, looking for a wounded he can drag out. (I moved him to D6, the one character he can reach with base speed 30.) His attempt at dragging out an angry and fearful dart member fails (CMD 17) and earns him an AoO strike (shortsword) that just hits for 6 damage. "Hey, watch it," he shouts with a shove (bull rush) of his own (earning Lornak an AoO, CMB 19).

Hmerrin recognizes the danger and begins to formulate a plan, starting with trying to save the really burned body. Getting there, he realizes that body is really, truly dead, surrounded by a suspicious amount of crystal that seems to have been smashed against the head. Darts all around accuse the unaffiliated with bringing an elemental into a negotiation, and Hmerrin realizes that this crystal somehow was ground zero.

Var and Hmerrin attempt to intimidate some of the characters around. It's not very intimidating but the distraction allows for some self preservation to kick in, and the nearby fighters begin to back towards the windows. There are bushes and awnings outside of them that will allow for someone to be dropped down, in addition to getting someone to the stairs.

Wil grabs a nearby character on the periphery and plays hard on his self preservation. All sorts of emotions hold the dart member back and forth. But in the end, he finally chooses to run...

Right into Asteria coming up the stairs. "Naw, see...you guys are doing it all wrong. They're way easier to get out of the building when you knock them out first!" Her second swing misses but her first swing hits hard for 11/24 nonlethal damage. The dart member, reeling and screaming, swings twice with his dagger, hitting once for 5 lethal damage. A nearby dart (D3) moves closer to throw a dagger at Asteria, hitting for 6 damage. A number of unaffiliated move towards Asteria to watch and laugh their heads off.

Toston moves towards the body in the back and sees that she is still breathing. He estimates her weight as slightly over 100 lbs (above average for a human woman) but he can still use the floating disk and his own power to move her out the window.

Outside of the building, Dusan attempts to quiet the people pouring out. Some ill will remains, but there doesn't seem to be any attacks going out.

Ethani drenches the doorway to keep it free - and manages to push some of the fire back, buying the team another round of time.

Lornak's concern is met with pain as the Dart lashes out at him. "Gah!" He mouths recoiling from the mans sword attack. In a flash of anger he lashes out at him, mainly to shove his way past.(AoO d20=13) "You blithering idiots!" Lornak screams as he runs through the center of the room. (Double Move) "Can't you see the building is coming down around your rather Large Egos?!" He does his best to dodge anything that looks harmful and makes his way over to the remaining body(B4) and checks for signs of life.

Seeing that her last spell had a measure of success in keeping the flames at bay and the path out clear, Ethani screws up enough courage to cast another spell add she moves a little closer to the flames.

Lornak and Var both run towards the unconscious B4 and discover that he is still alive. As they discuss whether to drag him down the stairs, they get some disapproving looks from a couple of unaffiliated thugs. "Hey, youse guys tryin to get into our business? You leave's him alone." They do not otherwise engage.

Toston decides to help beat out the remaining flames on the dead body, to give him some dignity. B3 remains nearby still waiting for some help, as Toston wonders if he should move towards B4.

Asteria smacks D4 unconscious and crows about it. How they get him down the doorway is for another time. In response, D3 and D6 move to flank her. At least Asteria uses nonlethal damage to try to corral them. Wil forgets the flames around him, attacking the dart for 10 damage.

Hmerrin moves towards the window, hoping to coax people towards it.

D3 in response fires back at Wil but misses wide. D6 attacks Asteria and also misses wide. D1, angry, steps forward to a swing at Hmerrin. "You ARE on the side of those scum! Why haven't you attacked any of them, otherwise?"

Dusan begins to heal some of the people who had come out, getting some approving looks from the crowd.

Ethani continues to try buying the group some time by using her ice spells.

Lornak unexpectedly finds himself shoulder to shoulder with Var. His face jerks back in bewilderment. Lornak He then reaches down and helps Var lift the injured man(B4) onto his shoulders. (Roll to Aid another: Attack d20=13 vs. CMD)

Lornak ignores the two unaffiliated thugs by turning and making his way swiftly towards the window near Toston and the other injured person. He has a mind to kick it out so Toston won't need to spend the time doing so.(Move Action) As he does he yells to Asteria as he watches her pick a fight; "Quit screwing around!" He yells. "Just get them to follow you!"

Lornak carries B4 out towards the window and lowers him out after Var heals him. As Var moves them back towards the stairs, one of the unaffiliated thugs continues to follow him. "Hey, we had to use that elemental gem. You know what these darts are like. Hows about you help teaches them not to keep after us."

Toston creates a floating disk to help move B3.

Wilford tries to use diplomacy (standard action), intimidate (standard action) and an attack (you guessed it) so his message gets a tad muffled. (I wish as a player that Pathfinder allowed a mix of diplomacy and intimidate for things like this, but it doesn't.) After firing at D3, he moves to help Asteria with the unconscious D4. With his help, Asteria manages to get D4 to the stairs, where a volunteer brings him down. Wil prepares to summon a fire beetle, but is out of actions for this round (I'll move it to the next round).

Hmerrin, frustrated, grapples D1 to calm him down.

Around the room, the group can hear the strains of the walls beginning to buckle. The delaying tactics of Ethani's spells have begun to fail.

D3 attacks Will and misses. D6 attacks Asteria and misses. The unaffiliated thugs move forward to attack D6.

D1 wainly tries to fight back but doesn't have a chance of escaping. D5 moves forwards to attack Hmerrin but also misses.

Dusan is brought B4 and D4 and heals them both.

Ethani casts yet another ice spell to delay the fire more, but the strain begins to get palpable on the building. Icicles aren't going to keep this building upright forever.

The roof of Tapas, Etc. holds a garden, the thick bushes surrounding the roof of the building. It is there that a dwarf chef watches silently as the smoke rises from the building down the way. "Are you sure you want to go through with this? We can get out there. We can help them."

Behind him stood a red haired halfling with a copper wire choke collar, her hands carefully examining the cylinder she had lifted from the orc in a halfling mask. "You know what will happen if we interfere. The town must see them doing this. We watch and observe."

Now holding the man outside the window, Hmerrin gives him a quick grin, and lets him go.

The fighter turns to D5.
"You jumping on your own, or do you need help too?"

As Asteria dumps the goon D4 unceremoniously to the waiting arms of a volunteer, she catches glimpse of Ethani, fighting the fire. A giant cheer arises from her, as she yells words of encouragement to her sister. "THAT'S MY SIS! YOU SHOW THAT FIRE WHO'S BOSS!"

She then runs back into the fray, glaring the remaining two goons down. "You gonna go outside, or do I need to beat you down like that other guy? This entire place is burning down!" (Intimidate: 27) If they offer to go, she allows them to pass. If not, she gets into position to attack and knock out the Darts.

Hmerrin throws D1 out the window, telling D5 that he is next.

Lornak and Toston lower B3 to the ground.

Var and Asteria attempt to get people to follow D4 down the stairs. Asteria in particular warns that they will go down the stairs, unconscious or no. D6, thinking it over, begins to comply when U8 grabs him, asking "Where you think you're going?"

U4 moves toward U8 with the building beginning to crack and sway. "Uh... maybe this whole tabling the fight for later isn't such a bad idea."

Wil begins to summon a fire beetle. (OOC: You have to have a form of communication or handle animal to get it to do things. Otherwise, it will fight or flee as normal - though in this case, flee may be what you want.)

As the building begins to shake and quiver, most others at least stop fighting. Unfortunately, they seem to have chosen freeze as a strategy.

The female who was brought to him sits up with a start. "The gem? What happened to it?"

Lornak finishes aiding Toston lower the injured woman through the window stands up. He turns around quickly to assess the situation.(Perception d20=26) He is keen to see how many are left to "persuade" to leave and figure out how much time the group might have left before the building collapses in on itself.

Hmerrin grabs D5 and prepares to throw him out the window. D5 makes an attempt and misses.

Lornak begins to feel a little lost at the situation as he attempts to see what might do the most good. He can see U2 in the corner, rocking and panicking.

Toston weakly tries to grab a couple of unafilliated (U1 and U3) but it at least adds to the gravity of the situation. He waits for them to react. They both take swings and miss.

Will orders "Rebecca" the fire beetle to head towards the door. She complies as best she can given the crowds, her luminescence filling the area nearby. (Lucky for Will she doesn't quite get to the front of the door, but more on that in a second.) Will moves backwards towards D2 with a bull rush to shove him out the window (D2 gets an AoO for 4 damage) but his shove comes up short. (CMD 17). Hmerrin agrees that getting out one side first might help.

Asteria stands as the giant ape moves forwards besides her. She attempts to intimidate them to get out. D8 instead knocks out D4, earning an attack from the ape that misses.

As if to punctuate the dire warnings, smoke and ash begin to fall from the ceiling, almost hitting several of the remaining members. Various Darts and Unafilliated front about how they are going on their own terms and how this isn't over.

And as they do so, smoke begins to move through the entire room. They proceed to finally make their way towards the exits while screaming and crying. Some produce copious amounts of moisture throughout their clothes.

(Visibility is 10 feet (2 squares) for anyone standing except those with darkvision - dwarves, gnomes and halflings - or those near the fire beetle.)

Dusan's heals begin to slow as he realizes that more and more are coming. "How many are in there?" Ethani takes in the situation and begins to take over healing the wounded.

"What gem?" he asks B3. "What are you talking about?"

"City on fire. Men fighting men as city burns." She tries to compose herself as best as she can. "Experimental elemental gems, break to create elementals... mass production, stolen, wound up on the black market, the unafilliated activated the gem, escalated this fight..." She stared as smoke began to eminate. "Only one caused this damage... Out of three thousand gems, only one caused this..."

Behind them, the building rocked with an explosion of smoke and ash.

"With or without you..." Lornak mouths low under his breath. Unconscious why that particular song lyric entered his mind in the moment he took in the room, he is suddenly very conscious of an unaffiliated person undulating in the corner. His breath becomes labored by the smoke rising in the room. He is grateful that his vision isn't labored.(Darkvision) Lornak moves over to the corner where he sees them (U2).(Held Action move) "Toston, my boy, its time we make haste!" He says along the way.

Lornak then leans down and does his best to get the person off the floor by throwing their arm over his shoulders and lifting. (Attack Action d20=16 vs CMD- I dont know if he/she is prone for an attack bonus)

Once steady, Lornak guides U2 to the stairwell. (Move Action)

Hmerrin throws D5 out the window. He makes satisfying sounds about "suing you" as he goes.

Lornak moves over to grapple U2, an older gentleman. He seems quite panicked, almost frozen in fear or ready to bolt, but he goes with Lornak. The panic rises, however, as parts of the ceiling begin to fall upon them both.

Wil attempts to grapple D2 but fails. Angry, he makes one last taunt for an attack. "Mock me all you want, you who gets into everything. But mark my words, today you will see the bravery that lies within a dart." As pieces of ceiling fall upon Wil and D2, he dives out of the window screaming.

The Firebug bravely stays where he is, acting as a beacon.

Var attempts to knock out U8. Asteria, moving out D6, threatens U8. To punctuate this, the ape swings twice, knocking him out. D3 and U4, seeing this, leave of their own accord.

Toston taunts U1 and U3 and then tries to scare them using ghost sounds. (I'm a little confused as what you are trying to do but I think it's move them towards the staircase rather than to the closer window.) Both of them clearly believe the sounds, pushing them towards the door - well pushing U1 towards the door. U3, panicking and unable to see the doorway light, simply darts across the room. U5, panicking, simply jumps out the window.

U6 wanders, screaming for help.

Wil and Toston: Two squares collapse from above. Reflex 10 to avoid being hit by fiery debris (damage 4 + 2 fire). Both D2 and U2 make their saves.

Ethani continues to heal. Dusan and Ethani both express concern that there might be more elemental gems in the building.

B3 cackles. "No, no, gems are gone. Moved through the city, bought as weapons, sold to fish folk, still selling to fish folk... Only the entire region in danger."

As the police begin to move her aside, she starts screaming and babbling. "Silver glove. Halfling with the choke collar. Look for the coupon. Silver... glove...."

From the windows, the sounds of fire elementals (Will 12 to disbelieve) and falling ceiling eminate. The smoke continues to pour.

Struggling with the old man Lornak manages to move in line with the other unaffiliated spooked by Toston's ghostly noises (U1). (Move Action) "I'll have to ask him about that one later.' Lornak mumbles to himself. As he maneuvers into the light he notices the screaming of the other unaffiliated lost in the haze(U6). He yells to Var help them; "Var! Grab that one!" He yells pointing with his free hand.

As he turns into the light he comes face to face with an Ape and stops dead. He is bewildered. He knows for a fact that they are not native to this region. (Knowledge Nature d20=22) He then looks down and sees the knocked out unaffiliated, puts two and two together and says to Asteria; "You better cart em out!" He sneaks past the ape gingerly.

Under his breath; "I'll have to ask about that one too..." He says confused.

Toston attempts to calm U3 down and presumably bring him towards the staircase.

Wil "helps" D2 out of the building. He tries to look around - didn't Toston say someone was screaming - but he cannot see more than 10 feet out (other than the glow of his beetle and presumably from the window).

Lornak, lost in the fog, continues to help out U2 and to a lesser extent U1. He calls on Var to help U6 and tries to understand what's up with the ape. (Lornak, are you exiting the building?)

Hmerrin freezes, trying to decide his next move. Var and Asteria remain quiet, The gorilla tosses U8 down the hallway. U1 seems to have enough stability to check on U6.

The smoke thickens, cutting visibility for all creatures to 10 feet. Some members inside spend their time choking and coughing. (Fort DC 15 for everyone inside.)

Dusan sheepishly goes back to healing as he is handled U2. Ethani continues to heal as well.

While the crowd appreciates all the healing, the fire behind them reminds the team that they might want to save some heals for their teammates.

(OOC: I thought I could only take a move action to get to U3 and then a standard action to convince him I could get him out of there)

Toston manages to successfully avoid coughing on the smoke (Save: 25) but the reduced visibility of the smoke means that Toston can't see the stairway or the window so he spends a standard action using his dancing lights SLA to create more light. He creates four lights that resemble torches (OOC: 20 foot radius of normal light + increasing light level 1 step 20 feet beyond it; darkness becomes dim light and dim light becomes normal light)

The light manages to illuminate a path to the rear window and Toston says to U3, "Come with me if you want to live." moving back towards the window with the man seeing as how there doesn't seem to be time to get down the stairs. (OOC: there is still move after we move towards the window if possible I would like to exit through the window with U3 this round, if not we can do it next round)

Carefully avoiding thinking about the fact that Lornak is still trapped inside her worst nightmare, Ethani throws herself into a frenzy of healing activity. She continues to order the volunteers to bring the wounded to her so she can evaluate and heal them.

The ape continues to pound anyone that dares attack Asteria., even though it's flesh is burning. It continues to faithfully fulfill it's duty. 4/5.

OOC: I have no idea how badly injured the sick are, so right now I'm just sticking to the Cure Light Wounds wand unless the DM indicates that further healing is necessary. DM, at the end of combat if you would be so polite as to let me know how many charges I spend, that would be awesome.

Var stumbles towards two of the remaining occupants (U1 and U6), and tries to get them moving back towards the stairs. Both of them comply, following him. (You should be able to reach the stairs in the next round.)

Toston creates light within the back half of the building, and the last occupant U3 follows him towards the window. (They will exit in the next round.)

The ape begins to run, not willing to stand in this area. Fortunately, nobody is in a fighting mood anymore, and Asteria is safe. Rebecca begins to follow Wil, lowering the light for everyone in the building. Asteria, however, seems frozen where she is. (OOC: Does anyone know who is subbing for Asteria?)

The fire rages so intently, that the following three things happen to our remaining three occupants.

1) Everyone makes another fort save at DC 16 to avoid coughing and choking. Everyone who receives coughing two rounds in a row coughs as a full round action and takes 1d6 pts of nonlethal damage.

2) Everyone makes a reflex save DC 10 to avoid being hit by fiery debris (1d8 + 1d4 fire)

3) Anyone wearing metal armor or contacting metal are affected as if by a "heat metal" spell.

Everyone struggles to get out before the next round.

Lornak, Wil and Hmerrin make their way out of the building. They attempt to offer help to those outside, hiding the fact that fear got to them.

Dusan watches for the remainder of his friends, and starts to heal the friends that come out. Ethani continues to be frozen until Lornak finally stumbles out. (OOC: I will try to count the number of wand casts and report the next round.)

The members of The Tide look up to see the elderly elven cop from before. "Oh, I do not get paid enough for this," he remarks upon seeing you and the raging fire.

Will attempts to go in to save Asteria but begins coughing and steps back. (Fort Save: 15)
Fiery debris falls around him but he manages to avoid it.
He tries to recover from the cough while healing others around him.

Lornak struggles through the falling debris with the old man at his side.(Reflex d20=12) It takes all his concentration to make his way down the stairs and through the stairwell. Even through his exceptional sight the billows obfuscate the entrance. (Move Action) A waft of smoke hits him dead in the face and he is forced to in-hail it. His mouth tastes of ash and his throat burns. (Fort d20=10) Lornak breaks through the threshold and breaths fresh air and immediately coughs making his throat burn even more. (Move Action)

He experiences a brief coughing fit but is glad to see the light of day and his comrades standing in it.

Lornak addresses the cop sarcastically as he gets his charge to the healers, his voice raspy; "You get Paid for this...?!" His breathing is labored.

Hmerrin lands and rolls to his feet, somewhat surprised he didn't break anything. Looking about, the human does a quick headcount.

"Three short."
--Lornak arrives--
"Two short."

Nodding acknowledgement of the police person, he returns his gaze to the building.

"C'mon people," he mutters. "Get out of there."

Toston manages to tough out both the smoke and nimbly avoid the debris. (Fort: 25; Reflex: 13)

Toston redirects the dancing light hopefully towards the stair well so that the people in the front can escape and then exits through the window with his floating disk and the 3rd unaffiliated person.

Looking up from her patient, Ethani spots Lornak. Dropping her wand, Ethan dashes out to the drow and immediately envelops him in a passionate hug and kiss. "Thank Alemi! You're alive I think you might have... Rubbing the soot from his cheek, Ethani begins to check him over when she comes to a terrifying discovery. Asteria is no where to be found. Her gauze turns to fear as she pushes Lornak away slightly. "Lornak, where's Asteria?!"

Asteria inhales what seemed to be only smoke and ash, snapping her out of her trance (Fort: 15 vs. 16, 3 nonlethal damage). The fire raging around her and soot on her face and in her eyes made it near impossible to see, but she just managed to duck out of the way of falling debris at the last second (Reflex: 15 vs. 10). Coughing violently, the smoke didn't seem to escape her lungs. The heat of the flames reminds her to get out. Asteria stumbles out of the apartment. Whoever was coming better hurry, because she was leaving.

Seeing her sister's worried face, Asteria finds it hard to speak, but she gives a wave to Ethani. "I'm here." She croaks out.

(Fort save: 12) Var gets a good lung-full of smoke and starts to cough, but manages to step around falling timber all the same (Reflex save: 19).

(OoC: If I'm reading Heat Metal correctly: I take 1d4 for each piece of metal gear I have equipped, +1 for any carried? So 2d4+1 (chain shirt, equipped hand-axe, and holstered hand-axe))

"Ow ow ow!" Var says as his gear starts to sizzle (3 fire damage)

Dušan ushers Asteria to Ethani casting Cure Moderate wounds while giving whatever aid the Barbarian will accept. (Heal 2d8+6=13)

Turning to cop, Dušan says, "Please officer, allow us to save lives then we will offer whatever assistance to you we can."

OOC: Forgot about Heat Metal. I believe Asteria will take 2d4+1(handaxe, breastplate, holstered great axe) equaling 7 fire damage. Please correct me if I am wrong, DM
