Driving a Hard Bargain

[Everybody please take 500 XP for the previous scene.]

You are soon able to find the office on Swan Street. It's kind of a combination office and warehouse, and most of the activity seems to be in the warehouse. Peering through the slightly-open doors, you can see Bromley Birch, the big, bluff, hearty human you met at the reception last night. He's conferring with a lean fellow with two swords in his sword-belt and a woman with a rapier at her hip. A few workers in the background move boxes around.

The lean man glances up and sees you, and gives Birch a poke and a nod in your direction. He looks up, surprised and a little puzzled. "Ah! The group from Dirt City, was it? What can we do for you?"

Var hangs at the back of the group, looking for good lines of sight for his arrows (Perception: 18), and giving off an aura of malice to anyone who tries to challenge them (Intimidate: 14)

Before heading to the meeting with the group Toston uses a charge of his wand of mage armor (OOC: let me know how long I have left)

Toston observes the situation he hopes that Asteria doesn't do anything brash as the group seems to have the element of surprise and maybe through subterfuge the group can get further into the inner sanctum before fists start flying.

Lornak did not interact with Bromley Birch at the merchant meeting so he lets Toston do the talking for this one. He will speak up if need be but sticks to the sidelines with Var and tries to look as equally manacling. (Intimidate d20=25)

Before the group leaves, Asteria goes through a bit of strategizing with her team. "If they look like they wanna fight, just move aside and let me at 'em."

Asteria, although wanting to just get to the punching part already, plays it safe and stays quiet. She stays on the side with Var and Lornak, but is ready to push her way to the front if need be. She tries her best to give off a frightening aura. While she's at it, the barbarian also looks for any other threats to the group, other then the obvious people talking at the front.

For an awkward moment, nobody says anything, and the Shipwell crew begins to frown. Then Wilford speaks up, saying you're looking for work.

Birch approaches you, his broad smile back in place. "Work, is it?" he asks. "Tired of life in Dirt City? Can't say I blame you. Well, gents--and lady--we're always on the lookout for new talent, ain't we?" The last is tossed over his shoulder to the other two--neither of whom look especially pleased to see you. "So, do you have talent? And what kind?"

Var, Toston, and Asteria notice that the workers in the background are also armed.

Alizar attempts to bluff, but even Dušan's spell isn't enough to make him believable. Wilford's attempt is much better, but Lornak's attempt to help does not go well.

Asteria and Hmerrin stick to intimidation, while Toston tries to lie without lying.

Birch does appear a bit shaken by Hmerrin's display of prowess, but it's clear from his frown that he isn't buying what Alizar and Lornak are selling. "Uh-huh," he says. "Now, suppose you tell us why you're really here. Or clear out before you get hurt." Behind him, the lean man stands up and the woman puts her hand on the hilt of her rapier.

Alizar did not even flinch when Wil pulled out his crossbow. The elf kept his eyes on Bitch, and responded with an even voice, "I don't think there is any need for misunderstanding here. We're all just folk, I think we can hammer out a mutually beneficial 'trade agreement' here."

Alizar was unsure of how the next few minutes moments would go, as such, he began to gather healing energies as he spoke...

Dušan, sensing that plan fists might be coming back to the fore, takes a few steps back behind the intimidation line, ready to cast Bull's Strength on Asteria as soon as violence erupts.

Negotiations break down at this point. Toston casts a defensive spell, Wilford readies his crossbow; Lornak puts a hand on his sword hilt; Asteria and Hmerrin continue to look menacing; and Var issues a fresh threat.

That seems to be enough to kick off the festivities.

The lean man steps forward, drawing his rapier. He manages to slash at Var and then withdraw so nimbly that Var can't attack him as he retreats. The rapier catches Var right across the belly, and does a lot of damage. [Critical hit, Vital Strike feat, 16 points of damage.]

Birch strides up to Hmerrin, drawing his longsword. He swings--a mighty, chopping blow that manages to get through Hmerrin's armor for 11 points of damage.

The woman draws her rapier and begins hurling colorful insults at your party. Even in the midst of the fight, you have to admit that some of them are pretty entertaining. They seem to bolster her allies quite a bit. [Bardsong; Inspire Courage]

The other employees, a bit late to the party, only have time to move forward and draw their weapons.

The start of hostilities triggers Dušan's readied action; Asteria now has Bull Strength.

Lornak's feels his stomach drop as he witnesses Wil's overly aggressive negotiation tactic. "Wait!" Lornak yells as he feverishly goes to quell the situation but is too late. Why do they always shoot first!? He angrily asks in his minds eye as he brandishes his whip and rapier. A threat of violence is not violence itself.

"Go for the Bard!" He frustratingly spits at Toston as he maneuvers to trip up Birch, clearing a path. (Move action) (Attack action D20=22, 5 dmg)

Dušan cringed at the blow Var received as he finished casting Bull's Strength on Asteria.

Dušan is worried that his healing is not up to the job and instead shifts to cast Cat's Grace on Var to boost his Dexterity and hopefully his dodge. The Wold seemed to be in concordance as Dušan found a particularly strong Lei Line that fueled his spell. Happy to have finally found a strong Lei Line in these foreign lands, he tries to cover the distnace towards Hmerrin, but comes up a bit short.

Toston strategically maneuvers around those blocking him to get within ranged striking distance of the bard, drawing his bow and knocking an arrow as he moves. He imbues the bow and arrow with a fraction of his arcane power (OOC: swift action, activate arcane strike).

"Hey bard lady, this is what I think of your comedy routine!" The gnome cries as he fires a shot at her. (24 vs AC; 5 magical piercing damage)

Hmerrin keeps making threatening faces at the fellow with the rapier, right up until he catches sight of sharp end of a longsword coming down at his head.

With a twist, he manages to escape with 'only' a ripped up shoulder. The young fighter launches two badly aimed counter blows, more to keep Birch off him than for any other reason.

Var staggers from the blow and recovers enough to fire an arrow at somebody he thinks of as a pirate, when he's clearly labeled "not a former pirate." Whoever the man is, Var's arrow hits him, and the man curses like a sailor when it sinks home.

Lornak attacks Birch, and deals some damage. The big man grunts, but doesn't seem all that concenred.

Wilford shoots at Birch, but the big man's armor is pretty good, and the arrow just pings off it.

Dušan casts Cat's Grace on Var.

Toston fires at Tydes, and hits.

Hmerrin counters Birch's blows, but he's still off balance, so nothing hits.

Kean, the nimble rapier wielder, darts up to slash at Alizar this time, but his wild swing is way off the mark.

Tydes, the bard, turns her colorful insults on Toston: "....and take yer foul gnomish face outta me sight before I SHRED IT!!" For some reason, this is terrifying! Toston has been hit by a cause fear spell. Make a DC 14 Will save or be Frightened!

Birch smiles at Hmerrin. It's not a pleasant smile. He swings again, two more chopping blows, and one of them hits! Hmerrin takes 12 damage.

The others, who are not pirates, oh no, perish the thought, advance on the party. They target Asteria, Var, and Lornak. Asteria is hit! She takes 10 points damage. Var is also hit! He takes 6 points damage.

(OOC - was Lornak unsuccessful in tripping Birch with his first hit, or was that intention not understood?)

Lornak sees the "non-pirates" maneuver towards Alizar and attempts to trip the front one with his whip and is disheartened when it does not take purchase. (Attack d20=13)

He shifts position to challenge the same opponent and place himself between him and Alizar but also to open a path for Wil or Dusan to engage the other. (Move action 5-foot step)

Toston easily shakes off the bard's spell. (25 vs 14 = success)

"Was that supposed to scare me? The only people who will be shredded today are you and your lackeys."
he responds.

Toston drops the bow, imbues his fist with magic (swift action: arcane strike) and then charges the bard with a stunning fist attacks.

Lornak swings his whip again, and shifts position to defend his companions. [OOC: I didn't realize you were trying to trip. You rolled attack and damage. You don't roll damage when you're attempting a combat maneuver. Instead, you roll a combat maneuver check, and compare your total to the opponents CMD. If you want to try to do that going forward, I'll just give you the CMDs because tripping is complicated! Kean and Birch are 20; the Non-Pirates are 16; the bard is 15.]

Wilford takes a piece out of one of the innocent sailors who are totally not pirates.

Var takes a shot at one of the non-pirates. Since he is standing right next to him, it provokes an Attack of Opportunity, but it's a feeble attack and then the man goes down.

Dušan continues to buff the party, while Alizar provides some healing.

Toston smacks the bard, and you can practially see the little birdies circling her head. She shuts up.

Kean darts forward to slash at Asteria this time, and hits! Asteria takes 7 damage.

Birch swings at Hmerrin again, but this time he attepts to Sunder Hmerrin's battleaxe! Luckily, he does not succeed.

The remaining sailors attack; one on Hmerrin, one on Lornak, and one on Asteria. Hmerrin is hit for 9 damage; Lornak is hit for 6 damage.

OOC: Sorry for missing two nights in a row! This weekend has been very busy for me, and tonight I was celebrating the 4th of July with my family.

Asteria freezes for a few moments during combat, but eventually comes to her senses after being smacked around a bit. "Hey! Don't you have any manners? Never hit a woman, especially while she isn't paying attention!" Asteria takes her battleaxe and swings at the closest non-pirate to her, and curses at its not so favorable result.

Lornak concentrates on harassing his opponents. "Aggression?! Not up for negotiating?" Lornak asks as takes a hit. He lashes out at the non-sailor to the his right(left of Hmerrin), tripping him. Attack vs CMD d20=19. He hopes that Hmerrin or Wil can take advantage of the man being prone.

"I mean its a legitimate tactic in Dirt City, but doesn't seem to be the norm in this fine place." Lornak says to the non-pirate in front of him. He raises his buckler to cover a wolfish grin that spreads across his face.

(OOC - that was my intention, yes. The whip comes with dmg, I thought it activates whenever I use it to trip or not. Thank you I will call the CMD moving forward.)

Asteria comes roaring back to life, but maybe needs less roaring and more aiming.

Lornak taunts his opponents, and trips one of them.

Var shoots at Kean, but misses.

Wilford fires an errant shot.

Toston swings at the bard again, and just barely manages to connect. She is stunned once again.

Alizar heals Astria, and Dušan casts Cat's Grace on Lornak.

Hmerrin unleashes two solid blows against Birch. "Mind you don't hurt yourself, boy," he growls.

Kean steps up to Asteria, and this time declines to dart away. Instead, his rapier and short sword flash--one, two three! Two of them hit, one critically. Asteria takes 15 points of damage from two hits.

Birch steps to put Hmerrin into flank. He tries again to Sunder Hmerrin's battleaxe, and this time he hits! Hmerrin's battleaxe takes 14 points of damage. here are the rules for Sunder, and here is a table listing weapon hardness and hit points.

The man Lornak knocked down scrambles to his feet again, provoking an attack of opportunit from Lornak. Assuming he survives the experience, he hits Lornak with his cutlass for 8 damage.

The non-pirate next to Asteria moves to put her into flank, and slices at her with his cutlass! He seems to know just where to hit to cause the most damage; Asteria takes another 9 damage.

The non-pirate next to Hmerrin has a similar affinity for vulnerable spots, and hits him for 13 damage.

It sure was a good thing these guys were totally not pirates, otherwise they group would have been in trouble. Alizar once again placed his hands on his barbarian compatriot, and channeled healing energies into her. (Cure Moderate Wounds: +10 HP to Asteria) "That's two you owe me sister."
Alizar reached into his reserve power as he shifted to his right to gain better position, then he channeled positive energy, healing all his allies around him.

Var decides to give Asteria a hand, and sinks an arrow into the sailor flanking her. The man howls in pain.

Lornak switches to his rapier and stabs his opponent.

Wilford tries to attack the bard, but misses. Her eyes may or may not be "mad," but Wilford does notice they are two different colors: one blue and one brown.

The bard is having a rough day at the office. Toston trips, then stuns her.

Alizar provides some more healing, and Dušan calls up a Spectral Hand.

Hmerrin is incensed by Birch's tactics, but unfortunately, that doesn't translate into a withering attack. At least, not this round.

Asteria unleashes a load of whoop-a....er, I mean a load of hurt on Kean.

Birch shifts positions and tries his Sundering trick again on Hmerrin, but is unsuccessful.

Kean also shifts, and attacks Asteria again. This time, only one of his slashes connects; Asteria takes 8 damage.

Two of the sailors shift to flank Lornak. Both attack, and both hit. Lornak takes 26 damage from two attacks.

The other sailor, badly wounded, nevertheless limps into position to flank Asteria. All his determination is for naught, however; his blade swings wide of its target.

Lornak feels his vitality peak as he feels the familiar warmth of Alizar's healing touch. He hears his companion's plea for assistance with the bard and he flips up the coil of his whip in one hand. He goes to throw it to his comrade but he feels white hot points of pain strike his body as if in unison. His body seizes. He staggers a bit and almost falls but not before he musters his will.

He tosses his whip to Toston and then turns to fight his assailants. "Fine hospitality this town has..." He says, woosey. "I feel very at home here..."

Dušan responds to Var, "I'll do what I can."

Moving closer to someone who is obviuosly not a pirate, he also sends his Spectral Hand toward Hmerrin trying to open room to maneuver. With the Spectral Hand, Dušan casts Shield of Faith on Hmerrin.

Turning to the problem in front of him. He digs and with a Heroic effort, he pulls out his wicked corpse grin. The one that says I'm enjoying this carnage a little to much, and casts Scare on the non-piratical being.

Var fires another arrow into the sailor flanking Asteria, and the man drops.

Wilford clobbers the bard. [OOC: I moved you up next to the bard; please remember to move your character. You need to be next to somebody to do a melee attack like a quarterstaff.]

Lornak tosses Toston his whip, without even asking Toston to toss him an idol in return. Weird. [OOC: A ranged attack would normally provoke, but I'll let it go because it isn't really an attack and anyway you're really hurt.]

Toston doesn't snatch the whip out of the air, but he is able to pick it up off the ground, and put a makeshift binding on the bard.

Dušan casts Shield of Faith on Hmerrin, then tries to scare the man flanking Asteria, but he is beyond scaring being dead and all. So, your choice; you can switch targets or un-spend that Hero point.

Asteria carves into Kean. Hmerrin lands another blow on Birch, who is really starting to look hurt.

Kean attacks Asteria again, then 5-foots back. He hits her twice, for a total of 12 damage.

The bard scowls at Toston and speaks a shot phrase. Toston must succeed at a DC 15 Fortitude save or be blinded!

Birch decides to stop the fancy Sundering stuff and get back to clobbering. His longsword connects with Hmerrin for 10 damage.

Lornak's assailants continue to press him. Only one of them hits, but he does 11 points of damage.

Alizar was responding slower than normal in this fight...

He reached down into his well of energy, and cast his healing magics. Healing all of his allies.

Even with Cat's Grace imbuing his body Lornak is not nimble enough to avoid the blows of his assailants. He starts seeing stars as he raises his buckler in defense. He tries his best to defend against the attacks but his sight dims and all he sees are the afterimages of objects and people in motion as he falls. His doesn't feel the impact, but when his head hits the floor everything goes black.

Ornate tribal symbols of white appear on a black backdrop in numbers that rival galaxies in the heavens. The symbols waver and undulate as a chorus of angelic voices fill the void. Their celestial sound begins low but rises to a lofty height. The symbols move towards and then past increasing in speed to mirror the pitch of the voices. The speed in which they travel make them seem to morph onto masses of pure energy.

Shooting stars fly past as the voices merge with the sound of a howling wind. The sound slows and so too the stars, becoming snowflakes caught in the torrent of a blizzard. The landscape bared is stark, its elemental beauty challenged by a grove of trees whose skin is pitch black. Among the branches a mottled grey form sits motionless, neither drift nor bark. Its stillness defiantly contrasting the vortex surrounding it. Approached, the form lies still until the last possible moment.

Alizar heals everyone, which is good news for Lornak, who had fallen unconscious and begun a really trippy dream.

Wilford casts Guidance, but Toston easily shrugs off the bard's spell, and calls on her to surrender.

Dušan casts Barkskin on Asteria. [OOC: Correct, the Scare spell is un-spent. And yes, the pirate was alive, but Var killed him before you got your spell off, because Var is rude that way.]

Hmerrin quietly continues his very effective assault on Birch. Asteria is not far behind in her assault on Kean.

Kean attacks Asteria again, this time sticking around to make a full attack with both weapons. He hits three times, but luckily does not crit. And, luckily, your DM can't roll higher than a 1 on damage. Asteria takes a total of 8 damage from three hits.

Tydes begins to wiggle around. It's up to Toston whether this is enough to set off his readied action, but by the end of the round, she has worked her way free of the whip.

Birch swings twice at Hmerrin. Only one hits, but it is a critical hit! Hmerrin takes 26 points of damage.

The two remaining (not) pirates step away from Lornak's downed body and move to attack Alizar instead. Both miss.

The darkness recedes as Lornak tries to open his eyes. He is aware of a ringing in his ears. Sharp pains stab as his body slumps on its side, stirring up dirt. He rolls onto his back and sits up. Stars twinkle in his peripheral vision. His face hurt. "That's what happens when you fall on it..." Lornak says drunkenly as his breath catches dust. He coughs.

His vision clears and reveals a tumult of bodies engaged in combat. He reaches for his fallen rapier. His hand wraps around the grip and he feels the warmth of recent use. "At least I didn't miss much..." He says as he carefully stands up. He shakes his head. Images of snowflakes flash away as he readies himself. "...time to pay the piper."

Var shoots both pirates (fine, okay, they're pirates!) engaged with Alizar, and wounds both of them.

Toston and Wilford continue to pummel Tydes, who's looking considerably the worse for wear.

Lornak scrambles back to his feet and retrieves his weapon and shield.

Dušan attemts to Scare one of the men meancing Alizar. He doesn't seem to scare easily.

Hmerrin staggers from his injuries, but grimly presses on. His axes flash--one, two--and Birch drops to the floor.

Asteria takes a mighty swing at Kean, and doesn't quite drop him. But he has clearly had enough. Bleeding from half-a-dozen places, he drops his weapons and raises his hands in surrender.

The two men on Alizar, seeing one of their leaders cut down and the other surrender, throw down their own weapons and raise their hands.

Tydes, separated from her companions, didn't get the surrender memo. She casts a spell, carefully, to avoid an attack of opportunity. Spellcraft DC 16 Highlight to display spoiler: {Animate Rope}. The whip begins to move on its own, It coils around Toston's legs and attempts to tie itself. Toston, make a DC 14 Reflex save or be entangled!

Alizar continues healing, while Wilford struggles with his demons. Or ghosts, rather.

Following Lornak's suggestion, Toston removes all the combatants' weapons and ties them up. Well, most of them. One of the not-pirates is presumably explaining his actions to Gargul.

Dušan looks to see if he can find any stolen merchendise, but all the boxes and barrels look alike to him.

Asteria and Var keep a watchful eye on the prisoners. Lornak asks about cohorts, particularly in Dirt City.

"Dirt City?" one of the not-pirates echoes. "We ain't got nobody in Dirt City that I know of."

"Shaddup," Birch tells him.

Hmerrin asks about the goods in the warehouse, but the three principals aren't talking and the one underling who is still conscious has been cowed into silence by his boss. It looks as if answers aren't going to be easy to come by.

You hear the sounds of voices, and many booted feet approaching. The constables, perhaps. Or more bad guys. Who knows?

Wil regains control of his body and sinks Cicero deep within him.
He looks over the mess they made but can't see much.
"Ugh, that was embarrassing," he said with an apology.
"So what can we collect from here?" I was really hoping we didn't have to fight. You guys must be so embarrassed. There is a box a friend of your bought. It belonged to another friend of ours. We are looking for someone with knowledge about this box." He addressed this to anyone of the pirates. His diplomacy was much better than his intimidation.

Asteria can't exactly hide all that well with her clunky armor, so she stays put in her raged state. With blood stains on her chestplate, and sweat still on her brow, she is an intimidating figure. She waits and glares at whoever appears.

At the sound of approaching footfalls, Var and Lornak decide to make themselves scarce. After giving it some thought, Hmerrin follows them.

Toston, however, is reluctant to leave, and Wilford has decided to stay and question the Shipwell people. Asteria reasons she can't hide very well anyway.

With a clatter of boots and weapons, a squad of armed constables enters the warehouse. Cader is not with them, but they seem to have been briefed on the situation. The sergeant, a tall woman with a long red braid, steps up to Asteria. "You the Dirt City folks?" she asks.

Meanwhile, Kean is protesting his innocence, while Birch is loudly claiming that you attacked and tried to rob them. "Thank goodness you're here, officers!" he says. The constables look dubious.

Lornak slowly appears from his hiding place and counters Birches accusations. "We arrived to resolve this peacefully, it was you thieves that resorted to violence." He then ignores the man and walks up to Cader and shakes his hand.

"Thank you, my friend. I am so very relieved to see you leading the charge." He says, trying to playfully fluster the man. He then speaks to the officer with the braid; "Forgive our caution. We come from a place where one has to be weary of law enforcement. A force of habit of which I must apologize." He bows his head and continues; "Please accept the perpetrators of the merchant road banditry." (Diplomacy d20=21)

"Ah, constabulary, perfect! We've just finished apprehending these rapscallions. We probably did not do as good a job as you might have in our situation, but it looks like we've managed. I believe you'll find that Mr. Birtch and his compatriots here have been the cause of your pirate troubles."

Toston begins opening up the containers looking for proof of Shipwell's ill-gotten gains. (Perception : 24)

When he finds something particularly interesting that looks like it does not belong to them he holds it up and says to the constabulary, "Good peace officers, I believe I have proof of Shipwell's pirate activities in the form of ill-gotten gains. Please arrest these pirates and see to it they face justice for their crimes." (Diplomacy:20)

Overcoming your ingrained instincts, some of you actually step forward to greet the constables. There is confusion at first; they don't seem to understand references to "piracy." (Stealing things on land is more often called "banditry.")

In the end, though, the constables have enough evidence to haul away the Shipwell people in irons. And they would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for you meddling adventurers.

The Blakbird Lake Trade Alliance take posession of the ill-gotten goods. Some can be identified and returned to their rightful owners; the remainder is sold off and the funds used to compensate the other merchants for thier losses.

The personal gear of Master Birch and his associates is turned over to you. You receive:

+1 Breastplate, masterwork rapier, masterwork short sword, shortbow (2), quiver (2), 40 arrows, Mithral chain shirt, +1 rapier, +1 longsword, chainmail, heavy wooden shield, masterwork studded leather (4), cutlass (4), daggers (16), sap (4)

By the time all this is sorted out, the Dirt City merchants are ready to depart again. You have about a day to complete any final errands before the group hits the road again.

And, just in case you missed it the first time, several days have passed. Everybody is healed; casters get new spells.

Also, everybody gets 1,050 XP. We'll start the new module as soon as everybody is ready.

Dušan takes a moment to ponder, "Maybe you can tell me, Toston. Why does everything change it's name once it on the sea? Left becomes port, cannons become guns and bandits become pirates... It's like whoever invented sailing set out to make it more complicated just to keep us land lubbers away."

"Land or Sea, stealin' is stealin'." Var says.

He's happy to have helped bring peace to Acid City, and perhaps have saved them from a decent into lawlessness like Dirt City. He'd be more upset at the prospect of returning to Dirt City, if it didn't mean a nice long walk through Izen along the way.

However, his stomach churns at the thought of another meal at the Goblin's Rest.

Lornak confusedly responds to Wil as he finishes up with the bandits. "I was knocked unconscious. What's your explanation...? He shakes his head a little to knock out the cobwebs. "...it was as if you were possessed when we arrived here. Can the voices take control of you?"

(OOC - I totally misread Cader not being there...)

Lornak seems a little out of sorts after the encounter with the bandits and decides he needs to take some time in the wild. He grabs his pack and gear. "I am going to go on a hunt for the next few days. I need some time to rejuvenate." He pulls up his hood. "Any of you are welcome to join me. I'd be willing to teach some proper tracking if you do." (Survival roll to aid another d20=24).

Lornak wanders the lake reaches hunting and gathering. Among the morning mists of the second day he hears a sound. Its a long bird call that leads him to a small moor. There he discovers a mottled owl. The owl does not spook as he approaches and is oddly not afraid of him. There is something familiar about the animal to Lornak...

He reaches for a morsel from the previous days catch and tempts the owl with it. The owl cautiously accepts and subsequently takes the morsels Lornak leaves behind him as breadcrumbs as he travels back to Acid City over the course of the reaming days. When he reconnects with the group a Northern Hawk Owl perches on Lornak's shoulder.

Wil smiles cautiously, "Well, the Shadowland spirits tend be quite insensitive. I struggle to work with them at times."
He thinks. There was a moment a few months ago when I lost myself for a day. That was awkward. Not sure who else remembers that. In another thought, I would love to go hunting.

Toston says to his companions, "I think giving things different names is a way to give lubbers a path to becoming sailors. You start with things that are familiar and then give them different names."

"As for errands well maybe we should see if we can find Hobson before we leave and give him the good news alternatively he did say no to Dirt City but we didn't bring up the Goblins Rest Inn, think it might help them if they had a human trader on hand? Maybe he could even teach the cook some common." Toston points out.

Assuming they can find Hobson and he is amiable to going to Goblin's Rest he also purchases some beginner cook books in common to go with the pictograms and the ingredients.

If they can't find Hobson he tries one more time to try to find a common reading tutor for the goblins and if he can find one he purchases rudimentary cook books to go with the tutor. Hopefully with the team's help they can help improve the fortunes of Goblin's rest by making it more noble race friendly.
