Hey Guys, be sure to put your name in the name field, even if you are making a test post or trying things out. :)
If you don't have a character name yet, feel free to just post with your own name as I've just done. When the game starts, Cayzle and Matt will either clear this all out or just post a module and scene banner to set when the formal play begins. They will go over it all as things progress.

Appearance: Kiwina is an unimposing centaur with dark, braided hair and a deep tan. His most distinguishing feature is a small tattoo on the front of his left shoulder, of one circle offset inside another.
Backstory: Raised on an (uncharted) island far to the west, Kiwina was visited in a dream by an aumakua (guardian spirit). He followed the aumakua variously in the form of a sea turtle or frigate bird to the Taur Islands. Kiwina is now learning to fit in on Bridge Island, as he is less uncomfortable among the other taurs than he is on Centaur Isle, where he feels the centaurs find him a bit primitive.

The wind blows from the west in Chessford -- from the sea. Life here revolves around the harbor, from the massive docks to the warehouses of the merchant clans to the cosmopolitan mix of races that ship in and out on the tides. And you have made your way here for a reason ...
You have all been drawn here for a remarkable and singular event -- The Taurnament of Roses! You're a bit hazy still on the details, but it is some kind of contest with amazing prizes. You have heard rumors of a grand prize with wish-level power!
Over the last few days, you have found lodging at a local inn and met others who have come here for the same reason. Some of you may be fast friends of old acquaintance; others of you just met yesterday. But you have all found yourselves with a common cause and positive vibes. Besides, you have heard that the Taurnament requires teams of eight, so you need to be in a group to compete anyway!
You and your friends, old and new, ponder the Taurnament as you await the Opening Day ceremony ...

The Wanderers' Roost is a decent working taur’s inn on the west side of Chessford. It serves beer, wine, and stew. You have already paid up to stay through the morning, and tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Taurnament.
Rowlth and Gothruk, both taurs, feel at home here. But to Allura and other medium bipeds, the doors within the isles are higher and twice as wide as anywhere else in the Wold. The buildings are large and spacious for taurs. There are big chairs for minotaurs, odd cushions for liontaurs, and open spaces for centaurs (who usually choose to stand).
But in this inn, at least, there are also regular chairs for medium-size folks, and tall stools that small folk can climb and sit in. Any non-taur will have to walk an extra-long way to find a smaller size table, since those are found in the back corners.
Roco (an NPC), the centaur who runs the inn, growls and ribs the singer and dancer, seeing as neither is exactly a professional! "Good thing we haven't got the evening rush in here, you two," he says, tail swishing in good humor, "because you'd drive out the custom!"
Phaeline is the (NPC) waitress, a small wemic with gold colored fur. She flicks her dishtowel at her boss and says to Rowlth in liontaur, "Never you mind that old grump, I like your singing."
Roco pretends to be mad. "I understand liontaur, you know," he says in common.

Having come down from his room during the fine performance Falco is dressed more like a working man or a traveler then a wizard. His cloths are clean and well-kept and he wears a finely wrought dagger with an unusual green blade that is always strapped to his side.
He spots his new companions but, as normal, the stool he needs is nowhere nearby so first he must drag it over. It is good he has spent his life in this land and know how to dodge a large foot of hoof.
Moving as quickly as he can while avoiding the much bigger guests in the bar makes his way back with the stool.
“So tomorrow we begin and tonight we revel! Seems a very good tradition indeed.”
If dancing or singing continues Falco will join in. From time to time he also use minor magic (prestidigitation) to flavor someone drink or cause other well-meant mischief.

Kiwina slowly wanders over, seeing Rolth, who told him about the taurnament back on Bridge Island, and his recently chosen teammates. It's already a bit crowded in here to his liking, so he's not too pleased to hear there's an evening rush.

Having finally put the finishing touches on his first bow Finnian makes his way over to the inn where a group that he had just recently met was gathering. After a year of isolation in the wilds it was nice to have some companionship and he knew that he would need a strong group if he was going to be able to win the tournament.

Falco joins the celebration and adds some spice, literally (with his cantrip) and figuratively.
Kiwina enters but does not try to draw attention. The hub-bub is not all that appealing.
Finnian is flush with his recent crafting success -- a perfect bow, made most expertly with his own hand, perfect for the challenges that loom ahead.
Gothruk wonders aloud what the prizes are. And why the mystery?
A liontaur sitting nearby clears his throat. "As amusing as it is to listen to you fellows flail about in your ignorance, the fact is that there is no mystery! If you had been paying attention like I've been, you would know that the Taurnament organizers are offering Anything Potions and Elixers of Domi!"
If you do not seem amazed, or if you show a sign that you are unfamiliar with such things, then the liontaur chuckles and mutters, "Neophytes!"

"I've heard about this. Had to have been on Bridge Island that I did. The Dragons are said to be the noblest of adventurers." Kiwina only half-remembers what he heard about the Dragon Consortium, and does not realize he hasn't fully explained why he mentioned them.

Tsak, bemused by the fact that (unusually) he isn't the biggest or scariest being in the room has been enjoying his anonymity. But, time to get to work! The exuberant fella who did all the singing seems to have a bit of go in him, and judging by the fact he didn't cop a cosh to the head he also has some friends in the room. Tsak wanders over to see if they need an 8th, and if his expertise in sailing is of interest to the group...

"Lucky number eight, and a seaman too! Have a seat, and let's hear more of this tale about the Dragons." More quietly he adds, "What's a neophyte? Should I be insulted?"
