At the Palace

Minutes pass and spells are cast, and it seems true; the undead are not bothering the Iron Adventurers... for now. The heroes can't see much of anything in the darkened city until they are actually in the courtyard and facing the dark and brooding palace. The bleak window frames have the feel like the entire palace is a monster of a thousand eyes... all looking at the living heroes in the city of the dead. (Perception Checks)

Katinka from her flying height can see the doors of the Palace. Once she is within 120 feet, she can tell that the entire palace radiates Abjuration magic. Her heightened senses do not notice anything from the windows, but it still feels like there should be...

Restlin keeps close to the body of Sesha, but it is only a body, none of the life force that really makes the Witch who she is. The young man is suspicious of the doorway that Katinka spies too...

Sesha casts a spell to better her undead bow and scouts ahead with Katinka. Moving closer, she sees the doors are already open and sails through...

Garrett keeps up a good rear guard but is distracted by undead Sesha.

As Sesha passes the threshold of the Palace, Katinka sees the Abjuration magics intensify, but by then it is far, far too late. A flash of light (Know Religion DC 10 Highlight to display spoiler: {Channel Energy} completely destroys the Baykok body and the undead bow. The second Baykok, only a little behind its 'mistress' fares no better and is also disintegrated in the great conflagration! Sesha's soul is catapulted back into her Magic Jar. This may be the reason none of the city undead have come to this place.

When the afterglow of the intense light fades, the doorway is not empty! Standing in the doorway is a lightly clothed minotaur with a hood pulled back from his bovine head. In the dim light, Bosk, Beri, and Restlin immediately recognize... Zane!!!

After only a moment of searing agony, Sesha again finds herself awash with the cold winds and dull gray colors of the spirit realm inside her magic jar. Like a fleeting dream, she remembers only a little of what happened while she was possessing the body of the archer.

Not sensing any other negative life forces, she takes a quick count and realizes that her and her friends are not alone. Without any way to distinguish them from the newcomer, she lets her magic jar spell end.

Opening her eyes, she struggles briefly upon realizing she is aloft, then remembers that Restlin was carrying her body. Looking up, she gives him a weak smile and a wink.

Shaking his head, the big minotaur drops into a combat stance. Legs spread wide, hands up and closed into fists with his head cocked slightly to the side, unsure where he was just sent, or why...
He's heard saying the following as he looks around.
"Damn you Gimp, if I didn't know who you were loyal to, I'd hunt you down and separate your head from your body."

He smiles as he recognizes the minotaur and two of the humans he's amongst but the others are still unfamiliar to him.
Standing up to his full almost 9' height, he smiles one of his sly smiles and tucks something in his hand into a small pocket....
"Well, I guess you could say I was stopping by to visit you guys, this though is just a bit beyond normal, even for my liking."

He's changed a bit in the years since you've seen him last, he grey mane and his black to white horns are now almost a full bronze in color, even taking on a metallic sheen to them.
Reaching out, he offers to shake hands with those he knows....

Sporting a blond crew cut and red and silver vestments emblazoned with the symbols of Domi, Trellus cautiously takes in the new, uh, arrival.

The young man decides to just shut up and see what happens.

"You were awesome back there, babe." Restlin says with a smile while letting her down. He does his best not to show the fact that she was getting kinda heavy. "You should let me know in advance if you ever want me to hand your body over to the enemy."

When Zane shows up, Restlin is visibly elated. "Holy crap, it's Zane!" The magepriest rushes forward to greet his friend. "Dudes and dudettes," he begins while facing the newer members of the party, "this is Zane. This guy here once tore the still beating heart out of an illithid demigod. He is not to be trifled with." He turns around to face the courtyard they just came from. "HEAR THAT YOU UNDEAD BASTARDS? NOT TO BE TRIFLED WITH."

Restlin still looks like Restlin, though he does sport a shiny platinum holy symbol to Wardd over his gaudy attire. "Oh, your horns got all shiny." Restlin does a vertical leap (acrobatics: 21) to flicks Zane's horn, trying to see if they're actually metallic. "How does that work?"

He'll introduce everyone else. "That up there is Tink. She doesn't spend much time on the ground. This guy's Trellus. He talks weird, but he worships Domi so he's probably legit. That over there is Garret. He fights like you, only faster. He's fun to watch. That looker over there is Sesha. She's terrifying and awesome."

"Anyway, hope you came looking for a fight, because buddy, you found one."

So... I know I just spent what felt like weeks as an inanimate punching bag... but I'm not the only one seeing this right? That couldn't possibly be... I mean, how could he have... Zane?

"Well, let me give you a bit of a quick recap....
As you know I left Hook City on a ship to follow a lead on the legend of the Stormfront. I found out it was a warship, crewed by a warband of Minotaurs. My mother was the Captain, it sank with all hands so the story goes. That's false, because I'm still here.
Well anyways, I just returned to Hook City today, was given grief about the chits having all crumbled to dust, and claimed no knowledge of what happened to them so it was dropped.
I stopped by that little bakery and grabbed a few meat pies and a couple loaves of fresh bread and headed towards the tower. There was a bit of a uprising near the tower, calling for the over throw of Hook City government.
Inspector Auslander broke it up and the leader vanished into the crowd. I said hello to him to be polite and left him to do his job. When I got to the tower, I pulled out my key and and then was "accosted" by an Imp. Bosk knows this Imp rather well, we met him when his shadow was nailed.
He was reading a scroll and he said, "You'll have fun" and I appeared here....
That's the high points at least."

Knowl Religion: Autopass

Katinka Hushfoot - or "Tink" as she is known - remains invisible and hiding in the shadows. "Who the heck is THIS guy?"

When Restlin introduces her she speaks up "A pleasure" and dismisses her invisibility to present herself.

Clad in form hugging black leather, this halfling justicar prefers to remain unseen. Tink's long ebony hair is tied back in a pony tail to keep her perceptive eyes clear. Her body is lithe and flexible and she works hard to keep it so.

Garret stares in amazement as the flash of light destroys Sesha and the other undead. He quickly looks over to Restlin and visibly relaxes when he sees Sesha start moving again. He starts to say, "What in the Wold was..." when he is interrupted by the appearance and announcements of the new minotaur.

He stands at the rear of the group as the introductions happen, but then quickly goes back on guard to watch the rear again (Perception: 41).

Garret is small, even for a halfling. He is barefoot and bare-chested, wearing only a short pair of pants held up by a rope belt. He has a small pack and a number of different tattoos around his chest, shoulders, and up the side of his face. He is perpetually dirty, and if you get close enough, often smells, especially after a battle or other exertion...

Sesha is pleased. Terrifying and awesome were both compliments, as far as she was concerned. She perks up at the mention of Gimp.

"Then we have something in common, Zane. Gimp brought Garret and I to the Iron Adventurers as well."

Her hair is long and white, and a hint of mithril mail can be seen underneath her dyed leather blouse. Native jewelry and a head-dress are about as extravagant as her clothing gets. She carries a staff in one hand, and a broom is strapped to her back.

"Well, these changes are all due to the type of magic I use. I'm sure you three remember where my arcane magic comes from. I have been a lot more careful about using my magical side effects in public. They've become much more pronounced with the more magic power I've gained.
Just know, my horns aren't the only weapons other than hooves and fists that I have anymore.
It's been at least six months that I've even needed to use any of them, have a fist the size of a shank of ham, means that I usually don't need to go to more drastic measures.... An the first is to get even larger, a simple spell as I'm sure most of you know, then my fists become the size of most blacksmith's anvils."

He again gives a sly smile, not bragging, but stating the facts as he knows them.....

Seahawks is back in her body with little worse for wear. What's more, the group looks to have been given an ally!

Zane gives the down low on what he saw in Hook City, obviously hoping for some of the group to fill in the blanks both at home and here in the dark pyramid.

Trellis and Garrett keep in the background, letting old friends get used to one another.

Restlin and Beri welcome Zane, and so does the distracted Bosk.

With no immediate danger, it looks like the heroes have enough time to exchange more information before going into the dark doorway of the palace.

DM OOC: just lurking. Wanted to properly welcome Zane to the Iron Adventurers and congratulate them with a well fought battle. It was very entertaining, to say the least. And I got to learn how to play Incorporeal monsters. I promise I'll do better next time. :)

Speaking quietly to Restlin, "Yes, I do believe that my horns and hooves, as well as my finger nails are turning to bronze, I know my mane looks metallic, but it's not. It's another side effect, obvious all the time not like the others which only show up when I get overly angered." Not soft enough to be secret, but spoken loudly either.
To everyone, "I may as well just go ahead and tell the rest of you, I'd hate to cause you a surprise in the midst of a battle if I should become angered enough to let my self-control slack enough that my other side slips out.
It requires just a bit of history first. My mother was a Captain of a Warship, I was born on that ship and my last name comes from it's name. My father on the other hand, while appearing to be a Minotaur as well, was not or at least not wholly a Minotaur. My magic, while arcane, comes from a source that is extremely uncommon, and very dangerous in the Wold."
Zane flexes and across his entire body runs a quick flash of what looks like a series of chain lightning. (activate Arcane Strike(free action) and my own personal description of its effect) "My father was at least in part, if not wholly a Bronze Dragon, when I lose my temper, or my concentration slips too far, I grow claws and my head shifts into a somewhat dragonish shape. I can also spit lightning when I get irritated enough.
Most of this in new, even to you who know me. I hope you never see me when I lose control, it's embarrassing. My teachers would scold me and most likely shun me until I do some sort of penance at the temple. "

Seeing a bit of confusion in some eyes, "The Monks I grew up with call their home a temple, I never found out why, but it was their way.
Damn, I've spoken more today than I have in the past 6 months and only captain of my last ship would even speak to me, something about my being a Minotaur the crew disliked, even when my strength was of help when the main spar snapped off 40 feet above the deck in that freak storm we hit."

Bosk, still worked up from vanquishing so many of his most hated foe, needs to take a moment to calm down and welcome his friend & fellow taur back. It's good to have someone his size back in the group.

Restlin seems fascinated by Zane's transformation. "A lightning breathing, bronze plated minotaur. Oh yea, we're going to have fun in here..."

Garret continues to stand near the rear, keeping watch. He does turn and look when Zane mentions growing up with monks, but when he hears mention of temples, he figures that it is a different type of monk, not like the ones he knew from the Windbourne Hills that were oh so far away now. He wondered for a moment if he would ever see those hills again...

Tink cannot see any sort of enchantment or compulsion aura around the newcomer, nor does she discern him to be speaking untruths. That he mentioned Gimp is interesting. Are the group drawing the attention of the Gods? That would be something.

"We should push on. Though the doors stopped the entry of the undead they may have also acted to trap something undead within. That, and the Gaeli forces may have made it inside. Either way, we cannot just stand around. If someone was able to treat this wound on my arm, I would be grateful"

Tink renews her invisibility and advances to the front of the group to lead them into the building.

Sneering, Sesha glares at the minotaur.

"To hunt a creature such as thee would be exhilarating. If not for losing my bow! Thy horns and mane would be a trophy indeed."

As soon as the words leave, Sesha quickly covers her mouth. Ashen, she slinks behind Restlin and whispers "Oops."

She casts a strength spell on herself to mitigate the last of the ability drain she received, then meekly points out she is ready to continue.

As Sesha mentions hunting him, Zane's right fist clenches and he forcibly relaxes it. He acts as if he didn't understand what she was saying, these new Iron Adventurers would take some getting to know. Starting off by losing his temper would not be Zen.....
"Well, I'm new here, you all have been where ever this is longer, lead on."
He settles his pack, comfortably between his shoulders and pulls his hood back forward, shadowing his lens covered eyes.

The heroes get to know each other a little bit more; Bosk, Restlin, Beri, and Sesha really happy to see the arrival of Zane. Trellus, Garrett, and Katinka are a bit more reserved, whether from Zanes claims of battle fury, his mention of Gimp, or the stories from Hook City; all three are a little disturbing.

Trellus is able to heal Katinka with his wand until she is as right as rain.

Sesha is able to look over where the Baykoks were destroyed and finds:

30 arrows, +1 (1200gp)
20 arrows +1 Bane:Human (3200gp)
Four oblong emeralds - 2,600gp
Broken brass wire necklace with 25 fire opals - 2,500gp

Katinka is the one who reminds the others of their mission to end the curse and with renewed spells, leads them into the building.

The first thing the halfling sees it is DARK in the palace; everyone is going to need a method for seeing. This is not a big problem for Katinka but does limit her See Invisible and Arcane Sight to 60 feet with her Darkvision.

The second is that the footprints in the dust are pretty messed up in the doorway with both the destruction of the Baykoks and arrival of Zane; hopefully they will be able to find the tracks on the other side.

The third thing she sees is some clever dastard recently placed two trap spells above the door and inside the palace, the perfect place to not be able to detect ... Until they went off! To add insult to injury, Katinka knows enough arcane knowledge to recognize everything as it happens.

As the explosions go off, Zane rolls out of the way in reaction, then will rush towards Katinka, not sure if she needs help or not, but it's the place to be, because it would also be expected that anyone who set a trap, could follow up with an assault....

Restlin elbows Zane as he walks by. "See? Awesome and terrifying." His demeanor drops a bit when Tink gets clobbered by magic. He hustles over, seeing how Tink was pretty banged up already.

Realizing those traps won't reset, he walks up to her. "I tried scouting once. This is basically how it went. Here, have some crappy 'I'm not sure I trust you with real power, Restlin' healing magic."

Quite unexpectedly, Tink feels her body assaulted with all types of elements. Those that could see her face would see her grimace and shows signs of anger. And though she is angry, it is not at those who set the traps but at herself for triggering it. She really needs to build up her elemental resistances.

The others are quick to come to her side and console her. "I'm fine" she replies "The most damage is to my pride. It's turning out that I'm better at triggering traps than spotting them"

"These were possibly set to keep more undead from this place. One of those blasts was a Searing Light spell. Very effective against undead"

"Do you think we need to set or replace any behind us? Once we've triggered them it may allow all the undead outside to flood in?"

"I'd think if the wards were set to keep out the undead, and the undead are as prevalent here as you seem to think, they'd automatically reset, I'm not that powerful magically so I can't tell if they are.
It might be that there is another sort of ward on the door that repulses undead."

Restlin shakes his head. "Look closer, Tink. These are rune priest spells. Most likely, these were just cast by the Gaellians to slow us. There may be more, but I don't think we can afford to take this too slow." He stands back up. "These one won't reset. I don't have any trap-type spells to cast myself."

Katinka, with the help of Restlin and Bosk, is able to shrug off most of the damage and keep to her mission. Her diligence is rewarded.

Staying within 30 feet of her friends, she only floats 20 feet past the doors and has a look around. A great stone chamber 60x60 feet is the first room Katinka is able to see; a vaulted ceiling soaring 60 more feet above making the whole effect like being a small bug in a giant box.

The prints in the dust sort themselves out after the entranceway, and a quick Perception DC15 (Tink passes) shows they make a beeline for the far side of the Cube Chamber. On the far side, the halfling can see closed double doors. On the left and right of the Cube Chamber are two standard doors equidistant from the corners.

She also hears a thud, soft but distinct, coming from the closed double doors.

No other hero is yet in the Cube Chamber.

Restlin is able to see invisible, therefor will take point in keeping pace with Tink. He will, under no circumstances, let her out of his sight.

He stands just outside the doorway, waiting for some signal from her. He keeps his mouth shut.

Bosk will also keep pace and stay near the middle of the group.

When she heads inside, Garret says out loud, "She's invisible and in the dark. I don't know about you people, but I'm not going to be seeing much in there. Does anyone have a light? Or should we wait for her to check it out and come back to report?"

Zane has Darkvision, he'll try to keep everyone in range, so no one wanders off and gets misplaced. He also reaches into his pack and pulls out a pebble, "Here Garret, catch." Zane tosses a burning stone towards him, he is apparently un-phased by the flames, matter of fact, it was burning when he pulled it from the pack as well. "Or would you rather have a lantern?" (pebble is a continual flame, so a light source)

Garret grabs the flaming pebble from the air and looks at it a moment. Then he shoves it in his mouth and says, "Heymph, Looghk at meeeh!" He laughs and takes it back out, setting it carefully on top of his head for light. He says, "Thank you, Zane, this will do nicely."

Garret doesn't have the telepathic link, so he paces back and forth at the rear of the group, the flame rising from his hair. He continues to watch the rear (Perception: 26) as he waits for the group to move forward.

Restlin can see Invisible but can't see in the dark so still has a hard time seeing Katinka since she is trying to hide. (Restlin needs a Perceptio DC 37 to see Katinka)

Beri turns into a large air elemental, gaining darkvision.

Zane has darkvision himself and tosses an ever burning torch that looks like a pebble to Garrett. The halfling is happy to have it, playing about while watching the rear.

Trellus reminds the team about the Lighted rod strapped to his backpack. (Ooc: continual Light is not a spell in Pathfinder. Do you want to make it an Everburning Torch (20 foot illumination) or a Daylight spell (60 foot illumination)? Everburning will not cost a spell slot (assumed to have done before meeting the Iron Adventurers. Daylight will take one 3rd level slot (assumed cast when went into the pyramid)

Sesha fights the effects of the Baykok on her personality, receiving comfort and admonition from Restlin.

Katinka tells the others what she sees, hears and assumes from the double doors; and that someone more martial-minded to now take the lead.

Nothing else happens and it looks like the Iron Adventurers have the choice of what to do.

Sesha nods, but keeps her mouth shut. The most terrible things had been coming out of it lately.

She takes a deep breath, and lets it out. She was beginning to feel a little fatigue. She had done a lot of spell-casting since coming into this place, and she didn't have much magical power left. Still, right now scouting was important.

Pulling a handful of marble crystals into the air, Sesha tosses them upwards, and each becomes a tiny eye, and she casts a light cantrip on each, commanding them to explore and return.

Sesha summons 5 prying eyes.

(Dm, they are fine size, which is 6 inches or less in size. If they cannot squeeze into cracks through doors it's fine, I'll have them scout the first pair of opened doors. They last a long while, and have a perception bonus of +12)

Beri flies in following the same path as Tink, but will drop down lower (10 ft) once they are in, or should enemies start to attack.. He doesn't know what traps may be there, but he hopes Tink's path is still safe.

The heroes cautiously move into the Cube Chamber, at least most of them. Trellus, Sesha, and Garrett don't move. Since Trellus and Garrett are the only ones with light, that keeps Bosk nearby, and none of them able to see Zane and the double doors on the far side of the chamber.

Restlin, Katinka, and Beri all do have darkvision, and from their positions are able to see the whole Cube Chamber. Despite enhanced and magical senses, they can sense... nothing.

Sesha casts "Prying Eyes", and five objects are able to scout about... using normal vision. And that is a problem right now because the double doors are in complete darkness. Sesha knows they will not be able to get under the door unless the doors are very dilapidated or unskilled in build. From the rest of the palace, neither is likely.

Zane slides up, fast for a minotaur, and puts his ear close to the doors. They are too well built to hear much, but he can hear a muffled voice. The cadence reminds the minotaur of praying... or incantations.

"I can hear chanting of some sort from the other side." Zane whispers to the rest as he points at the door.

Then he trots up towards the doorway, flame still coming from his hair, saying quietly, "I guess it is time to meet whoever or whatever we are following."

Trellus moves up to shred more light on the area. Bosk moves up with the cleric of Domi.

Katinka sees Zane is ready and begins casting a spell to bring forth celestial help.

Garrett gets ready for combat, also trotting up to the doors.

Zane waits until the others are ready and kicks the door. A great boom is heard through the Cube Chamber, and the heroes (perception DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: { can hear echoes in a large chamber beyond. }). But the door does not open! Zane remembers that Katinka mentioned hearing a thud, and the door did feel like there was something braced against the doors.

(Need a strength check DC 25 to break the doors. Can be multiple PCs working in unison that d20+str ability adds up to 25)

Zane knows that anyone in this section of the palace knows the heroes are here, so there is little need for stealth. With a shout, he throws his shoulder into the door... and bounces off!

"Light," grumbles Trellus, and with a deep breath (and Domi's assistance), the Medium-sized human blasts the door down!

Restlin whistles low as Trellus bashes the door down and waits to see what happens next.

Beriothian remembers that he doesn't have to speak, but think, and the others will get the message thanks to Katinka's spell. The door is wood and metal, but already open.

Sesha sends her prying eyes zipping through, with only one having a little light cantrip on it. (You can only have one light spell active at any one time).Still, even one Prying Eye with a Light spell in the middle of the room is enough to at least get shadowy light in every corner of the Throne Room. The other four 'Eyes' take station in each corner to observe. Of course, Sesha doesn't yet know what they know... (In order to report their findings, the eyes must return to your hand.)

Tink's Bralani appears right next to her and is ready to fight if needed.

Tink takes the opportunity to renew her invisibility and hide in the shadows.

The room looks like a long, narrow hall with pillars holding up a cieling far above. At the far end is a dias and a large stone sarcophagus placed centermost on the dias. Nearby the sarcophagus is a weapons stand and a full suit of black plate armor.

Scattered on the floor before the open doors are chunks of stone that once was the sarcophagus lid. It must have been the object holding the doors closed.

Behind the sarcophagus, an armored figure stands, cocks his arm, and throws a javelin that turns into a lightning bolt striking Trellus. ( Trellus takes 18 damage Reflex DC 14 for half). The armored man shouts "You are too late, Yngvardian scum! The weapons of the King are unsheathed!"

Sesha feels a dispel magic strive against her Prying Eyes, but the magic holds! Zane, Trellus, and Bosk can see there is another figure hiding behind the sarcophagus!

Restlin has had many, many combat encounters with the Iron Adventurers. They have attempted to parlay with very bad people in the name of knowledge. They have tried to grant quarter to enemies. They have cautiously entered battle.

Restlin is not making that mistake this time.

"Uh, perhaps you should take the battle to them" Tink suggests to the Bralani.

The outsider will fly to the doorway (L18) before determining how best to proceed. The bralani can fly an additional 65ft from there, and will position itself in the best position in which to best utilise one of its spell-like abilities: Lightning Bolt. (Bralani to try and get in a position to hit two or more enemies with the bolt. Targets take 20pts damage, DC15 Ref save for half)

Tink will fly past the doorway to get a peek at what is going on in the room (Fly south to Q17, then west to I17.)

Sesha calls her eyes back in, not willing to step into an ambush. The eyes had instructions to report back if they spotted any living creatures, so she figures they will return quickly.

In the mean time she casts Spectral Hand, ignoring the discomfort that comes as part of the spells backlash on the body. Once more, she finds the Woldsblood traveling in abundance through this place.

ooc: Are there any sheathes lying around? Any weapons other than the ones on the rack? Is the black armor moving at all? What can we tell about the figure behind the sarcophagus? Can we determine size, race and weapons / armor? Can Bosk tell with his permanent death watch if these enemies are alive or undead? More to come once if I can get these questions answered.

Restlin takes a step to the east and casts Black Tentacles while calling "No quarter". Large black psuedopods erupt all around the sarcophagus and the two hiding behind it. Though they swirl and writhe, none of them seem to be able to get a handle on either figure!

(The pillars line of sight stops the tentacles from forming in some areas.)

Beri stays above Bosk, and begins to summon a cyclops.

Zane glides in and around the corner getting out of the way for others to gain the Throne Room. Yet the minotaur finds there have been more defenses set up by the Gaeli! First, Zane sets off not one but four blasting runes! Acid spews about the minotaur (Zane takes 19, 18, 20, and 18 damage, Reflex DC 18 for half damage). Spellcraft DC 20 Highlight to display spoiler: { Arcane specialists will be relatively sure that the Gaeli could not possibly have the ability to create another Rune Blast... There should be no more in the area.}

And that's not all. Once Zane slides to the pillars, he is attacked by two sneak-thieves in the shadows! (AAOs. The first misses, but the second strikes with a scimitar, scoring on Zane's thigh with a burning cut! AC 20miss 27 hit 15 dam + poison (Purple Worm venom Fort DC 21 or d3 Str loss; 2 consecutive saves)

Katinka's Bralani flies to the doorway and, not wanting to be stuck behind Zane or in the Black Tentacles, flies to the left side and shouts back towards Katinka. "Two more evil-doers behind these pillars! (Double move, the Bralani can't cast Lightning this round) The Bralani is cut for 13 damage and is poisoned! (Purple Worm venom Fort DC 21 or d3 Str loss; 2 consecutive saves)

Tink flies past the doorway to get a peek at what is going on in the room, and gets out of the way. The halfling can't see any other surprises in the Throne Room.

Sesha's eyes return to the Witch (sorry about the instructions to report back). In fact they ALL reported back hovering around Sesha to report (it takes one round for one eye to replay in Sesha's hand.) The first Eye saw the two opponents behind the sarcophagus and returned. Then she casts Spectral Hand, preparing for battle.

Bosk sees the weapons rack and the black armor and instantly wonders if this is related to the weapons of the King being unsheathed. Taking a closer look, the minotaur can see the sarcophagus is 60 feet away and in darkness (now that Sesha's Prying Eyes have returned to her hand). He slides into the room but can no longer see the figures or the black armor.

Trellus lingers to admire the handiwork of his patron until the lightning strikes. He steps into the room and ducks to the left to give the other some space then casts a protective spell on himself.

Two scimitar-wielding rogues keep attacking Zane, both hurting the minotaur and one striking Zane with more poison! (Zane takes 15 and 11 damage + poison! (Purple Worm venom Fort DC 21 or d3 Str loss; 2 consecutive saves)

Two more rogues seek to kill the Bralani quickly.(Bralani takes 14 and 10 damage + 1 poison! (Purple Worm venom Fort DC 21 or d3 Str loss; 2 consecutive saves)

The spellcaster behind the sarcophagus ignores the Black Tentacles and casts a spell, causing a Wall of Stone to seal the entrance! The Iron Adventurers are split! And now only Garrett and Trellus' lights are in the chamber!

The armored warrior vaults the sarcophagus and strides towards Trellus with a scimitar and large metal shield. "Come to your death, vile betrayer!", he shouts. He is also surrounded by tentacles and ignores them as well! He is visible through Trellus' light and is in the middle of the Black Tentacles.

Garret watches the stone appear and mumbles, "Darn spellcasters." He looks around, then takes a step to the side so he has a clear view of the caster. He call out, "You go get 'em, Zane!" He then moves as if to step forward, but disappears from sight, appearing again next to the caster. He smiles and punches for the caster's kidney.

5' step for a line of sight to the caster, then use 2 ki points to abundant step to next to the caster (move action), then attack with stunning fist attempt: Hit AC: 34, Damage: 33. Caster Fort Save DC 21 or staggered 1d6+1 rounds.

With that, Restlin opens a 5' tall x 4' wide x 1' deep hole in the wall at M18 using stone shape. "There, now let's go join that fray."

Telepathically, Restlin will mention to everyone he's able, "One of them was wading through my tentacles like they weren't there. Tink, see if you can see through any illusions in there."

Seeing Restlins spell, Sesha stops her Polymorph spell. She moves forward another 30 feet, then directs her spectral hand to bring healing magic to Zane. (I also moved 30ft forward when I absorbed the eyes as well.)

Trellus retorts with a snappy comeback and attempts to dispel the Wall of Stone, but it doesn't work because the stone is no longer magical, just a permanent normal wall.

The Bralani is transported to ecstasy in battle, and ignores the bites on himself to deliver a few of his own!

Tink begins summoning some more creatures for the battle: Large Earth Elementals!

Sesha thinks that Tink has a fine idea and polymorphs herself into a small earth elemental and pokes in to see the battle. (Sesha can see everything within 60 feet of her due to her darkvision)

Garrett wants to go after the spellcaster behind the sarcophagus and surrounded by Black Tentacles but there is a couple of problems. The first is Trellus is standing where he wants to move, and the second is he can't take a 5 foot step AND a move action in the same round. Garrett is unable to move and either complete the action he contemplated.

Zane is able to strike the poison-wielding assailants once and backs into the main room calling a warning on the potent poison!

Restlin can't stop Trellus. Not only has the cleric already attempted his spell, but the Wizard can't even see the cleric of Domi... there is a big stone wall in the way! Restlin has a cure for the wall, however, and Stone Shapes a large hole for the others to get through. The effect is less effective than anticipated, because five feet behind the three inches of stone wall with a hole in it is ... ANOTHER stone wall!

Sesha can see the wall is not completely breeched so completes her spell.

Bosk looks about and can see the ceiling is 60 feet above him and the armored figure in front of him is alive and fighting off death. His deathwatch is a 30 foot cone emanation so the figure behind the sarcophagus is too far away and the two fighting the Bralani are not in the cone. (He can look at them next round.)

Beri finishes casting and the Cyclops appears in the Cube Room. With no immediate enemies and no way for Beri to communicate, the Cyclops stands guard. The Druid/Air Elemental himself wants to go hover above Bosk, but since there is still solid stone between the two, Beri can't move.

Two of the rogues continue to try and hit Zane, and one gets a strong cut! The blades are no longer poisoned, but the strong venom still courses through the minotaur!

The armored figure laughs and moves advances to confront Bosk, jinking left and right to confuse the minotaur (Acrobatics 30; no AOO) but his movement also reduces his own attack and the black scimitar misses! "You will die on my sword and we will bring in a new age of conquest!"

Tink's earth elemental reinforcements though promptly arrive. She is able to use her telepathic link with Trellus to get a fair layout of the room and what is going on inside (Free action to share such info)

"Right, so there are enemies around there, there and there. My friends are there, there and there" she relays the coordinates of friends and foes to the Earth Elementals (in a lot more detail than that). "Have at them!"

Large Earth Elemental #1 (LEE#1) glides underground to finish underneath enemy #1 (H20-I21)

With the view she needed, Sesha realizes her spell selection is limited. Her components are merged into her new form, so she needed something effective that didn't need special ingredients.

She decides that all that armor on the swordsman fighting Bosk looks heavy. He must be pretty strong to wear all that stuff. Maybe she could do something about it? The Barbarian tribes hates this spell, and being threatened with a curse was enough to keep the men in line for a long time..

Using her Spectral Hand, which used it's ethereal properties to follow her into the room, Sesha casts Bestow Curse at the one fighting Bosk, dropping his strength score by 6 points.

Garret, apparently trapped by the walls and his allies, tries to attack, but instead runs into a column. He stands there staring at the column for a minute until the flamestrike from his intended target appears. He watches the flames appear and neatly sidesteps them, watching them burn the floor and his friends.

As the man approaches Bosk, while he is still 10ft away, Bosk takes advantage of his reach (AoO) and reaches out and uses one of his chill touch charges on the man while not yet sure if he should kill him.

Guys, something is fishy. The armored figure was fighting off death when we came in. I fear that their life force may be connected, perhaps feeding Grendel or the weapons. Killing them might raise the thing, although waiting might give it more power. Any thoughts?

Hearing nothing from his team the cleric decides to go all out in his attacks against the armored figure before him. Restlin doesn't think much of the Gaeli shaping one Wall of Stone to go back-and-forth across the entrance thus making it more difficult to breech, but the Wizard and Shiny are up to the challenge. He casts Stone Shape once more, and the second part of the wall is also breeched. THIS time, the sights and sounds of battle come through!

Trellus finds he is immune to the Flame Strike, thank Domi for Spell Resistance! He moves to the new minotaur, Zane, and casts Heal, taking care of damage and any poison lingering in the minotaur's system.

Katinka's Earth Elementals move under the floor, homing in on enemies 1, 2, and 3. Trellus can't see #1 and #2 (them being behind pillars, but with a little maneuvering, the three elementals are prepared for clobbering time soon, very soon...

Sesha moves forward into Restlin's breech and seeks to curse the armored lout-mouth, but he (amazingly) shrugs off the spell!

Zane steps away from his assailants and casts a boosting spell on himself. (OOC: No one can take a 5' step and a Move action the same round. Zane either only takes a 5' step, or he withdraws not casting a spell, or moves/ gets 2 AOOs/ and casts his spell. DM determines that Zane probably wants to 5' step and cast spell, so he only moves 5' away.)

Garrett is a little peeved that he bumped into a pillar instead of performing his amazing stunt, and he takes it out on the poisoner that just 'killed' the Bralani. By the time the diminuitive fists of fury is done, Enemy #3 is dead on the floor!

Bosk tries to Chill the armored man, and though he is slightly wounded, he again shrugs off the strength draining magic! Bosk also knows that his DeathWatch would show a mortal as 'fighting off death' if he were in anything but at death's door or perfectly healthy. Anything in between ( ie 4 or 400 hit points) would be 'fighting off death'. The great minotaur launches a taunt and a storm of blows, but none of them come near the armored figure!

Beri and his Cyclopes are still stuck in the Cube Room. Restlin has made a 5 foot hole in both walls, and right now Sesha is standing in it. The large Beri and his minions do not have the room to squeeze through! (The Cyclops can't be placed in the Throne Room because Beri didn't have line of sight when casting the spell. All Cyclopes are crammed in the Cube Room.)

Assailant 1 slides around a pillar to get at Zane but discovers Trellus instead. "One target is as good as another, Yngvardian scum!", he comments almost casually as his scimitar licks out.

The figure behind the sarcophagus straightens and casts a spell on himself before scuttling among the Black Tentacles to a pillar. "I'll get there fast enough, Bjarne. It looks as though you and the others are enjoying my spells so far!"

Restlin briefly wonders how all these cyclopses (cyclopii?) are going to get through that little hole he made, but he's out of stone shape spells. "That's officially Beri's problem now," he thinks.

Looking through that hole he created, he decides wading into the middle of it would be a bad idea. Best to mix stuff up from out here. He's been waiting a long time to use this spell. The magepriest casts telekinesis, grips Shiny with both hands, asks it very nicely to make him a bit smarter (fox's cunning), then swings upwards attempting to knock #5 back into his tentacles.

Sesha realizes that Zane and Trellus are having a bit of a time with the poison-bearing rogues. Bosk is also getting cornered! She tries to figure out what spell Cedrik had cast, but as usual, she's slower than Restlin when it comes to the foundational study of magic.

Then there's the one who has been buffing the others.. that one was probably the biggest threat in the room. Sesha decides it's time to systematically strip him down. Pointing at the caster, she draws upon the strongest of blood magics she knows, a curse that dooms a target, haunting him until his failure is certain!

When her spell is affixed to the foe, she follows up with a quickened spell, another bestow curse, targeting his strength. (If he is also in heavy armor. If it is light armor or none at all, she targets his wisdom instead.)

(Working on the premise that the only enemies clearly identified to the earth elementals are enemies #2, #4, #5 and #6)

LEE#1 isn't too sure what that movement is above his head. It could be friend and it could be foe. He was only directed to attack clear foes, so ignores the movement for now (ie: Won't pursue enemy #1). That thing that has moved closer though was identified as foe. Clobbering time! A 5ft step to the south and LEE#1 pumps both fists upwards towards Enemy #2 (Attack Enemy #2. Hit AC25 and AC24 for 15pts and 15pts respectively)

LEE#2 similarly 5ft steps NE and attacks the designated foe above his head (Attack Enemy #5. Miss AC16 and Hit AC33 for 15pts)

LEE#3 moves southwards towards the other clearly designated foe (Move to M27-N28. Attack Enemy #6. Hit AC27 for 14pts)

Tink stands outside the room, her back to the wall. In hindsight it would have been beneficial to find a way to direct those elementals. As it stands, they're going to continue until they complete their task: kill the enemy.

Restlin takes a small step to line up himself with the hole Sesha is in and the Armored Gaelian who is fighting Bosk. Talking to Shiny to make himself smarter, he concentrates on a Telekinesis spell and manages to push his opponent back 5 feet! The tentacles writhe around the figure, not laying a pseudopod on him.

Zane is getting irritated at his opponent, and the Dragon Disciple finds there is not much room to maneuver. With Assailant #2 and a pillar in front, Restlin's Black Tentacles and Trellus on either side, and Bosk right behind him, it is kill or die, and those are his only options. The minotaur attacks strongly, managing to hit #2 once.

Katinka's elementals get into the action, large hands reach out of the ground and strike, mauling Assailant #2, hitting the Armored One, and missing the Caster! Enemies below and before them are putting the Gaelians into a terrible fix!

Garrett is getting into the swing of things, but the halfling needs more than a 5 foot step to engage Assailant #4, and the monk only is able to strike and connect once.

Bosk, even with his advantages of the Shadowlands, can only strike the Armored One once. This looks like it's going to be a loooong fight between these two!

Trellus defensively casts Spiritual Hammer to help against his foe. It has been a long time since the cleric has actually physically entered battle and he can't believe the man is actually making him do this!

Beri casts a spell, widening the opening of both thin Walls of Stone, enabling he (and his following Cyclopses) to Squeeze through. Soon.

Assailant #1 grins at Trellus' apparent discomfort. "Coming here has only sealed your death, Yngvardian dog." A quick flick of his wrist, and his scimitar now is coated with a purple sheen as seen from Trellus' back light. The assailant expertly slides through the cleric's defenses and scores fairly lightly, but it is the poison that is the greatest danger!

LEE#1 takes a 5ft step north and continues to pursue the enemy (5ft step to H22-I23. Attack Enemy #1. Hit AC34, Miss AC19. 15pts damage total)

LEE#2 likewise continues his assault but finds his target far too nimble (5ft step to K22-L23. Attack Enemy #5. Miss AC22 and AC23!)

LEE#3 follows the creature that looks to be fleeing from him. He only gets a single attack against his quarry but makes it a good one (Move to L24-M25. Attack enemy #6. Hit AC31. 17pts damage)

There is a lot of combat going on inside the room. Every now and then Tink quickly pokes her head around the corner to see what is going on, but in all the commotion it is really hard to see anything at all. All she can do is renew her invisibility and check over the telepathic link if everyone is ok.

Garret glances to his right as his opponent steps back. He listens to the yelling and the fighting and pauses for a moment to decide what to do. He sees that Trellus is really getting pounded but figures his best play is to reduce the number of enemies so they can eventually concentrate on the big guy with the gnats all around. He takes a short step forward, leans back, and attempts to kick the enemy repeatedly with his left foot.

Irritated by the warrior's strength and the healer's reinforcement Bosk decides to try weakening his foe a little before tenderizing him.

Three attacks connect. Dmg 4,2,5 and three fort saves needed to prevent str loss.

Each touch channels negative energy that deals 1d6 points of damage. The touched creature also takes 1 point of Strength damage unless it makes a successful Fortitude saving throw. You can use this melee touch attack up to one time per level.

An undead creature you touch takes no damage of either sort, but it must make a successful Will saving throw or flee as if panicked for 1d4 rounds + 1 round per caster level.

Trellus and his Spiritual Hammer pound his assailant until he is swaying on his feet, but still dangerous with scimitar in hand! That is, until a Large fist reaches out of the floor and smashes the foe into a wall, never to rise again! (Assailant #1 is DEAD)

Restlin sees that both Bjarne and Cedrik are ignoring the Black Tentacles, not getting grappled or held by any of them despite striding right through the spell area. He tries something else with his Telekenisis, trying to grapple and pin the Armored Bjarne, but the spell slides around him and fails to grapple!

Katinka keeps watch from the Cube Room, allowing her earth elementals to continue their assault. Arms reach out, killing Assailant #1, missing the Armored Bjarne, and battering Cedrik the cleric.

Garrett figures the best help he can give the embattled Trellus is take out opponents no matter where they fight, and slays Assailant #4 where he stands!

Zane wants to strike the healer, but finds that his eyes were just a little off; the man wasn't within reach. (Map was wrong, Cedrik actually 5 feet further south and healed Bjarne before the Armored One stepped up). Zane also knows that stepping up to strike the healer will put him within striking of Restlin's own Black Tentacles spell. So instead of going after the healer, he strikes out at Assailant #2. He only hits once, but that is enough to kill him as well.

Bosk sees that Cedrik used a Cure Serious Wounds spell on Bjarne to heal him. The great minotaur turns to his less deadly but more accurate Chill Touch, and manages to get the armored Bjarne three times! While Bjarne is slightly wounded, it doesn't look like he is hurt by the strength draining.

While Bjarne and Cedrik are neither very wounded, it is evident that the trap to kill only a couple of the attacking adventurers has failed. Their four companions are dead and they haven't been able to slay even one of the Iron Adventurers. Still, they don't look like they are going to surrender any time soon!

Bjarne moves slightly and begins to assault Zane with his powerful scimitar. "If I can't take you down first cow-face", he calls to Bosk, "I'll take you down last!"

Bosk curses as the rays hit him full force. Deciding the foe before him is too well armored and aparrently his fortitude is too great for the touch attacks to be effective. With a smile the cleric decides to test the mans maneuver defense. Dance....Dance I say!!! He then begins sweeping at the mans feet with all manor of weapons hoping to trip him, and if successful he will try to separate the man from his shield.

Trellus stows his mace, and pulls a healing wand from his magic haversack.

With two minotaurs and three earth elementals banging on these dudes, the cleric figures all he really needs to do is keep the good guys upright.

LEE#1 would be quite happy that he has pulverised an enemy - if he weren't an earth elemental and incapable of such as emotion. Instead he earthglides southwards to put himself within reach of another enemy (Move to I24-J25. Attack Enemy #5. Hit AC33 for 12pts damage)

As the enemy falls, Garret slowly lowers his foot to the ground and looks around the battle scene. He pauses for a moment, as if unsure of what to do, but then the massive tentacles suddenly disappear, and Garret springs into action. He dashes around the column and moves quickly and quietly towards the enemy spellcaster, hoping he will not be seen as he moves forward. When he gets in place, he attempts to punch the caster in the kidney.

Beri tinks about casting a flaming sphere at the armored figure in the next room, but decides that would be better served after the tentacles are removed. Instead he moves forward and flies above Zane. Extending an elemental limb down toward Trellus he casts Cure Moderate wounds on him, healing the cleric for 25dmg. Watch after yourself. I only have a couple of these cure spells prepared.

Bosk decides to test the man's maneuver defense, sweeping at Bjarne's feet with all manner of weapons to trip him! On the third attempt, Bosk hooks a foot and Bjarne goes down! (The following attempts to disarm his shield are no good.)

Zane tumbles backward, charges up his arcane energy, and manages to shoot Cedrik the cleric with an arrow.

Sesha, the small earth elemental, nods her head and moves into the room, readying a dispel magic spell to counter Cedrik the Cleric.

Katinka's earth elementals continue to pursue living enemy, wherever they may be, but the leaders are much tougher than the dead ones, and only one stone fist makes it though defenses.

Tink can no longer contain her curiosity, and flies to look through the hole in the wall. tries to weaken the prone Bjarne's defences, whisking away one of his spells!

Restlin, unfortunately knowing Trellus is right, dismisses his tentacles.

Garret springs into action as the tentacles disappear, dashing to the spellcaster and punching him high... in the kidney.

Cedrik tries to emulate Bjarne, trying to cast a spell Defensively, but Garrett's fist must have done its work, for the cleric botches it and Sesha doesn't even have to try to dispel it! (Cast Defensively, nat 1!, lose spell ; Pathfinder has a failed Cast Defensively is only lost spell, no AOO)

Beri's admonition not to get hurt enters Trellus' brain at the same time the druid's spell washes over him.
"Yes, Mom", the blond man answers.

He notices the glowing hammer hovering next to his head.
"Oh, Light. I forgot."
But, the treadles have closed up, and Trellus has to take advantage.

He puts away his wand, and casts a spell.
"Let's see how you like it," the man mutters to himself as a pillar of flame engulfs both the cleric and Black Scimitar dude.

ooc: Can I please see the results of this AoO before finishing my turn.

Seeing Bjarne try to get up Bosk realizes his has only one opportunity to capitalize on having knocked the man prone. "You can not defeat me who wields the Black Scimitar! The Ancient King flows through my veins and I will be victorious!" That taunt tells the cleric what he must try to do. In a flash his sword flashes out and tries to disarm the man. His skill is not what he would like it to be, but he hopes the fact that the man is prone (-4 to CMD and loss of any Dodge bonuses). He just hopes it will be enough.

Garret smiles as he hears Cedrik grunt, knowing his kidney shot struck true. Garret glances back at the currently inanimate suit of armor nervously (perception: 27), hoping he won't get surprised by another opponent. Seeing that Cedrik is at least slowed, Garret decides to really launch himself into full attack mode this turn, jumping, spinning, punching, and kicking; doing all he can to take this opponent out of the battle, but mostly hitting just the air around him.

Restlin turns his telekinesis on Bjarne, flipping him on his keister!

Trellis returns the favor of the Flame Strike, and the Gaelians are neither quick nor prepared! Cedrik fries, his screams a falling note as his corpse hits the floor.

The prone Bjarne is easier to hit and Zane tags him once, two elemental a and a final slam by Garrett who only has one target left. In less time it takes to say it, Bjarne the Invincible is just another cooling corpse on the ground.

Beri casts Dispel Magic on the black suit of armor to no effect.

The Throne Room is quiet, six dead enemy and bits and pieces of the battle litter the floor along with a number of older bones. There is a sarcophagus on the Dias at the far end and an unmoving suit of black armor.

Restlin wastes no time getting through the hole he created. "Well, that was unnecessary, but oh well. Tink, any magic on that armor or sarcophagus?" He wants to inspect both, but is reluctant to head over himself. Best to take a moment and make sure no one needs any kind of medical attention.

"I have...maybe 30 seconds of telekinesis left. Who thinks I should open that sarcophagus from here?"

Looking at everything around him Bosk surveys the scene. Do not touch anything. Someone scan the area for auras. I will check to make sure everything in the room is dead. Also, no one touch that sword, I do not want it possessing any one. I believe I have the highest will save in this circumstance, so when we are ready I will try wrapping it in a cloth and picking it up...but I need you all to be prepared to disarm me, bust in case.

ooc: Bosk will use death watch to verify the armor is not alive as well that all the corpses are dead. When the group is ready Bosk will lay prone and allow the others to flank him before picking it up.

"Its already open," he notes.

Bosk is full of suggestions and spells, and the cleric can only shake his head in wonder at the energy of the taur.

"So," he offers to the group. "The weavers said the idea was to destroy the artifacts of Grendel, although the Pasha didn't have much on how to weave that pick. What if our elemental friends gave breaking that sword a try before they poof back to wherever?"

"And it that doesn't work, and we end up having to tote this stuff somewhere, my willpower is pretty good. Also,if my reeds get twisted, it'll be a lot easier for you to restrain me than the other way around."

Tink dismisses her elementals as soon as the combat is officially over. She would have liked to have thanked them for their efforts first, but she still lacks a way to speak to them while they are underground.

At Restlin's request she flies into the room and scans every aura she can see.

(Permanent Arcane sight "is similar to that of a detect magic spell, but arcane sight does not require concentration and discerns aura location and power more quickly." Spellcraft checks to ID things = 21 + Take 10 = 31 for all checks. DC = 15 + item's caster level, so Tink should be able to automatically ID anything with a CL of 16 or less. If others aid her this could be higher)

"Please don't touch anything until I have checked it, Bosk. Like you, I'm very wary of that sword and armor"

This is the first time Tink has been in the room, so she is also alert for any traps that may yet have been triggered.

When he sees the others running about scanning for magic and trying to decide what to do next, Garret decides to let the magical people work with the magic. He carefully steps over the bodies and to the entrance to the room. He looks at the new wall and the stoneshaped hole in the wall. He takes a peek through the hole to see if they are still alone (perception 24). He stays in the entrance hole keeping guard.

Bosk nods, seeing that Restlin's will is as strong as his own. You might have a point, and as long as you are next to me you will benefit from my magic circle spell (the subject immediately receives another saving throw against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature)...still, perhaps you should let us hold onto your spell component pouch or let us gag you first. We might be stronger than you, but if you were to gain additional spells and power from that thing and teleport out we could be in trouble. When Beri grabbed that cursed locket under Hook City it wasn't easy to get him to drop it.

I can teleport right out of your arms even if I'm pinned, mute, and without components." He affixes his pouch back to his belt. "Trellus may be the best bet after all. I can still help improve his luck..."

If Trellus agrees to pick up the potentially cursed items, Restlin will ensure he is close enough (within 10') to grant him a +1 to saves due to his aura, and will also pat him on the back before hand, giving him a bit o'luck (roll all D20s twice for a round, pick which result you want).

Bosk shrugs. Between his and Restlin's spells the difference in their will should be minimal. When the time comes he will stand close by in order to let him get the benefit of his magic circle against evil spell.

Remember to wrap it in something so that you are not touching it directly.

Turning to Sesha he adds, You might want to take a piece of the sarcophagus lid for your tinkering. Just make sure you do not use it to do anything that might anger Gargul.

When everything is done Bosk will pull out his spatula of corpse retrial and collect remains of the dead and place them inside his reliquaries (holy symbols).

The elentals and Cyclopes are dismissed or fade after a minute or so. The group seems to have enough time to do the healing necessary too (please check off spells and charges).

Restlin moves through the hole he created, and asks about the armor or sarcophagus.

Bosk warns everyone not to touch anything, eapecially The Black Scimitar, until there is a good scan of the area and items. He carefully goes over every inch of the Throne Room with his Permanent Death Watch, and can find nothing undead or construct or intelligent, or alive other than the heroes, Shiny, and Pot-Pot.

Sesha can't find anyone or anything alive either.

Trellus indicates the remains of the stone lid scattered in front of the broken door, noting the stone sarcophagus is already opened. The Gaelians had used the lid to prop the door closed. He also pulls the conversation to the mission, specifically, how to destroy Grendal's artifacts, offering that Trellus is less likely to murder someone than Bosk if possessed.

Zane casts Detect Magic and scans the room. It is not a quick process since the spell needs a full round to look at a 60 foot cone and there are pillars and a sarcophagus in the way that force Zane to move and repeat the process.... But the results are the same that Katinka found outside the palace: there is a Strong Abjuration that permeates the entire palace and overwhelms all other magical auras. Zane can't see if the armor, weapons, or sarcophagus is magical.

Tink flies into the room and scans every aura she can see, meeting the same result as Zane. EVERYTHING looks like Strong Abjuration! Her natural perception can't see any more traps among the old and new bones scattered among the pillars.

Garrett stands in the middle of the room and dusts off his hands. Bounding over to the entrance, Harrett keeps an eye out on the Cube Room and watches the Cyclopes fade away.

Restlin debates the pros and cons before agreeing that Trellus should pick up the Black Scimitar. After, that is, with a bit of luck!

As the group gets healed and ready, Bosk checks the sarcophagus and notes there is another casket made of metal inside the stone one. This casket is closed. Before looking further, he takes the time to collect some mementoes from the battle.

The Black Armor still stands, the Black Sword lays beside the slain Bjarne, and the Metal Casket (and six enemy corpses) are the only items of interest in the room.

Readopting her natural form, Sesha takes Bosks advice. A bit of the casket of Grendel would make a nice component to add to her collection.

"Thanks Bosk, I'm touched you'd notice my hobby of collecting little things like that. Not like I didn't storm into your bath collecting water or anything."

That done, Sesha considers the sword, the casket, and the armor.

"Well, we stopped them. Destroying him is the plan, right? Or at least stopping the threat of his resurrection? What if we take his armor to our vault? Or just break the sword? Or I can just shadow walk his casket to the realm of shadow and throw it in a pool of Woldsblood?"

They said to destroy Grendel's remains. I have a feeling he is in that metal casket that is still sealed. We should be careful of the weapons and armor in case they are bound to him, but I am guessing the threat is sealed in that casket. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if he is alive or dead inside...

The cleric shakes his head as he remembers his sense spirit ability can work through metal and stone. Give me a moment and I will check if his spirit is inside...and DO NOT DROP ANYONE IN WOLDS BLOOD!!! Gargul might have put us together, but I cannot abide the most egregious abuse of Woldsblood!

The cleric then magically peers into the casket and tells the others what he sees.

ooc: Per the wikki "The greatest abuse of Woldsblood is to intentionally use it to distract others, and even worse, to use it as a weapon to draw their souls from their bodies." I don't think this was what Sesha meant, but it goes against Bosk's personality/code/class and alignment significantly, so I had to say something.

Sense Spirit (SU): The grim can sense the direction and distance to any disembodied spirit or soul in long range (400 ft. + 40 ft./level), even through material objects. This could let the grim target the spirit's square, but not see it (unless it is within 60 feet). Sense spirit is a supernatural ability that takes a full round action to initiate and lasts for so long as the grim concentrates.

Sesha shrinks back a bit at Bosks outbreak. Was she getting too comfortable with the Grim? Woldsblood was a useful tool, precious and powerful, but nothing worth worshipping. She recalled the stories of Blood Witches opening up veins of Woldsblood to attack their enemies, and pondered Bosks hypothetical reaction to such.

As she grew in power, would she would need to make sure she had defenses against the minotaur as well? A bubbling anger rises up for a moment, one she struggles to squash. She was a Witch, one in high standing with the Drow, her tribe, and her goddess. To be bellowed at by a cow-man was beneath her!

She plays out a fantasy in her mind where she casually strolls to the casket and does exactly what Bosk told her not to, then shadow walks back to It'lal, leaving the lapdog of Gargul behind scratching his thick head.

But Restlin...

She shrugs casually and crosses her slender arms. "Fine, taur. You figure something out."

She goes about inspecting the bodies for gear.

He thinks silently to himself & his sword, "Someday, this will come to a head. Looks like that day isn't today. Good news, aye Shiny?"

"Loot...we forgot about loot. What kind of adventurers are we?" He looks back to Trellus. "You gonna pick up that sword, dude?"

OOC: Just checking, but even with Spellcraft checks of 31, Tink wasn't able to positively ID any of the equipment/loot in the room?

Were the group really planning and preparing to fight one of their own? Tink isn't too sure she wants to be in on this, yet, if someone WAS to be possessed by a supernatural force she would certainly do what she could to help return them to their normal (-ish) self.

She goes around searching the bodies of the fallen, being careful not to touch the sword of armor just yet. The rogues that attacked the group were able to kill off that bralani pretty quickly. Perhaps they had some magical aid?

The Iron Adventurers plus Trellus split into four groups.

The smallest group is Garrett, who keeps a sharp eye out in the Cube Room. So far, he doesn't see anything during that vital mission.

The next group is Sesha, Beri, and Katinka who gather the enemies' gear together. The Strong Abjuration that permeates the Palace makes it unable for Katinka to see any aura other than Strong Abjuration. Despite this, they gather up what immediately appears to be valuable and have a pretty pile (See Notes below) (Per Detect Magic in Pathfinder; "magical areas, multiple types of magic, or strong local magical Amarion's may distort or conceal weaker auras.")

Trellus, Zane, and Trellus make up the third group around the Black Scimitar. Trellus can't find an old scabbard but can use on of the dead Gaelians' scabbards instead. Careful preparation and... Trellus seems to pick the Scabbarded Black Scimitar up safely!

The last group is Bosk at the dias with the sealed metal casket in the sarcophagus and the Black Armor. His preparations have so far revealed ... Nothing.

The six corpses, several older bones, and shattered pieces of sarcophagus lid are the only other things in the Throne Room.

Tink realises she had been holding her breath as Trellus picked up the sword. She has no idea why it was such a tense moment. It just was!

Rather than admire the armor or sword now, Tink makes her way to the sarcophagus and looks inside. There is all this talk about destroying the remains, but what if the remains aren't here. First things first.

Everyone agrees to do something with the remains, but no one seems to want to do it.

There is a stand of Black Armor, a stone sarcophagus with the lid off, and inside the stone tomb, the sealed metal casket.

Katinka can tell that the metal casket is sealed with lead. Remains, if any, would be inside...

It has been long minutes of healing, searching, and discussing since the battle with the Gaelian tomb raiders; the cyclopes have long since dissipated when the spell ended. They are gone. (See DM Post on 14 May)

Discussion leads to action to open the casket and verify the contents are what the heroes have been searching, but first to get rid of the lead seal. Restlin and Katinka come to the problem with a seldom used but very handy Acid spell, and after only 30 seconds of using the ability ( both Restlin and Katinka use 6 Acid Darts each) the last of the lead is gone.

Still nothing happens.

Garrett gets the fidgets and bounds over to try and open the metal casket and it must be very thin because he is able to slide the lid to one side with even his meager strength.

Still nothing happens.

In a velvet lined casket, six kingly objects lay: an Ebony Scepter, a ​Crown, a heavy golden ​Ring, and an ermine Cape, still looking like it was tailored yesterday. The heroes have already recovered the Black Sword and full plate armor. There is nothing else here.

Katinka can already see that the Palace's radiance blocks her Arcane Sight to see if any of the objects are magic. Any attempt to Detect Evil finds the same: the entire palace is so steeped in evil that lesser auras are invisible!

It still looks like the initiative is with the Iron Adventurers!

Restlin scratches his head. "No remains. Just Grendel's treasures. I thought Pasha told us we needed to destroy his remains to make it out of here.

"Well, 8 items, 8 of us. Lucky for us, that's one each. We each take one, we find a way out of here, and if they're evil, into the vault they go back in the tower...unless I'm forgetting something."

Restlin decides to try his luck & picks up the crown. He resists the temptation to wear it and declare himself King Restlin...barely.

It's been hours for Restlin but weeks for Carl. Have I forgotten something important Pasha told us? I've reviewed the archives, but I can't find anything staying whether Grendel's remains were the decomposed bits of him or these trinkets? Asking fellow players, but if our illustrious DM wants to chime in, I won't argue!

Tink waits to see if anything bad happens to Restlin upon his picking up the crown. Not that she's scared or anything. Just being, you know, cautious.

The ring doesn't look like it would be a strain on her "muscles", so that's the next thing to be removed from the casket. She reaches in - careful so as not to touch the acidic edges - and delicately picks up the ring. She holds it by the outer edges and inspects it for any inscription or details that may give a clue as to its origin or owner. She is very careful not to put the ring on, having heard legend of a halfling that once did such a thing.

Next is a more detailed inspection of the casket. Are there any unaccounted for indentations on the velvet? And where are the remains they're supposed to destroy?

Sesha considers the scepter, but isn't particularly pleased with the idea of holding on to it. Retrieving a scroll, she forces her mind to follow the stodgy rules of wizards magic, and successfully casts a Unseen Servant spell.

She cuts a large swatch of the velvet and stuffs it in her special components pouch.

"Velvet from the casket of Grendel. Seems a neat addition to the collection!" She remembers Bosks words and scoops some of the acid-burned iron from the casket lid as well. "Acid marked lead from Grendels coffin. Also a neat find!"

Her scavenging done, she directs the Unseen Servant to pick up the scepter, and is ready to move out with the others.

She stops suddenly, and kneels down for a quick augery.

"Will touching the items of Grendel bring misfortune upon us?"

Bosk looks the items over as he collects his relics. I think everything here is too small for my hands, so I will pass on the big things. Counting the items from before, I think we should split the CMW potions and bull's strength potions. I would not mind the brooch of shielding, the feather token, Blessing of Fervor scroll and a couple CMW scrolls.

ooc: will consecrate cover up some of the negative aura and allow us to get a better reading? If so I will cast it.

Bosk nods in agreement. We were asked to "find the tomb of Grendel the Cruel and destroy his remains along with his royal items." Six kingly objects were found, an Ebony Scepter, a Crown, a heavy golden Ring, and an ermine Cape, as well as the Black Sword and full plate armor. These are the items we must destroy along with his remains. Previously we have destroyed a cursed item with Gargul's staff, but unless someone has a weapon of a god on them we have to go a different route. We can keep them safe, but that is not the same as destroying them ... ... ... As a last resort we could put them in my bag of holding and then pierce it, but I would want it replaced and would need help carrying my displaced gear.

The Iron Adventurers, one by one, takes the objects from the casket, the armor, and the scimitar.

A closer inspection of the area reveals no inscriptions or symbols, nor is there a known secret chamber or passage.

Thinking back at the scenes in the Pasha's Tent, the heroes remember the female counsellor recited their oral tradition: "...if one manages to gain entrance to the city, find the tomb and destroy Grendel the Cruel's royal accoutrements and his remains, the curse he placed on the land will be lifted."

Another thought comes that if the items are taken from the Palace itself, both the overwhelming magic and overwhelming evil effects would be gone and the group would be able to better inspect the items.

...I may be able to summon a dyslexic dog, but that's as close to a weapon of "god" as I can get. Do we know how hard these would be to destroy though? Perhaps we can use the objects themselves to bring about their own destruction? Maybe use the sword to destroy the cape?

Pursing her lips, Sesha gestures her spectral hand towards Zane, and he feels his strength surge. She steps lightly towards him and hands him the sceptre she was holding.

"No time like the present. Try to break it big guy. And don't worry you pretty much can't die with both Trellus and I standing around."

She takes a look at Zane and then taps him again.

"For good luck. Oh, and maybe try with Bosk breaking it over the corner of the coffin or something?"

If Zane is using the coffin for leverage, then Tink doesn't want to be anywhere near it. She slips outside the room for a moment and covers her ears.

Though breaking a magical item with brute force sometimes works, it's those other times she's worried about.

Beriothian takes his some time now that the battle is over to carefully search the walls, floor, and ceiling, and the rest of the room for any indication where the body maybe hiding. Surely something that important wasn't just lost or misplaced, it has to have been carefully and intentionally placed to keep it safe.

Cyber heroes remember that the Pasha's advisor clearly said REMAINS and accoutrements, but despite looking around the Throne Room's area, there are no remains (unless one would count the bones scattered around the floor). The casket and sarcophagus are also curiously unadorned of any design or writing; quite unusual.

Zane, getting both a strength enhancement from Sesha and Trellus (but since both are enhancements, they do not stack), bends to break the Black Scimitar and...

SNAP!

It breaks like a normal sword, pretty easy too.

Restlin and Katinka suggest (or just think) that taking the items outside may enable the group to get more information...

Tink eventually pokes her head back in the room to find a complete lack of explosion. Thankfully.

"Perhaps someone with some upper body strength could try knocking the casket over? Perhaps there's something under it?"

For her part, Tink will examine the chamber they first came into BEFORE the burial chamber (ie: the one she is currently standing in). Perhaps what the group is searching for is out here. Besides, there are still 4 closed doors out here (Per DM post Monday April 27th, 2015 9:18:34 AM)

Tink makes her way to the south east door and listens against it. "Pssst! Garret! Think we should try opening these?" If she doesn't hear anything, she will even go so far as to try and open it.

Restlin ignores Sesha's admonition; if she knew what destroying a powerful magical item like that could do, she'd likely have run too. He's got a real bad feeling.

He snatches up the pieces of the sword, then quickly heads outside the chamber. As he runs, he grips his holy symbol and asks Wardd to help him look for any magic.

Once he's back in the hallway, he'll see if he's able to study the crown & broken sword without the overwhelming abjuration aura. If it's still there, he'll call out for some assistance before heading outside & checking them there.

Since he didn't find anything secret in or around the coffin, he heads back out to the room with Tink when she calls out to him. He peeks his head out the door of the coffin room and whispers, "That looks like a good door. What's in there?"

While the others are debating what to do Bosk will finish collecting his poison and then disassemble the armor. Perhaps the the corpse is in there, or perhaps random objects coming to life and attacking has happened to the taur too many times in the past. Either way he would fee better if it was taken apart.

With everyone else looking for hidey holes, the cleric tries to figure out what was actually in this room before both parties tore it up.

There were older bones scattered about.....would they possibly make up a complete skeleton?

Snap and nothing. Suspicion grows that this may be a dummy set up to further hide Grendel's true remains.

Bosk has had too many surprises and dismantles the Black Armor, finding a wooden stand holding the pieces together. Soon it is only various parts.

Sesha takes the scepter and tries to see if it is a key, to no avail.

Katinka and Garrett check out the Cube Room. There don't appear to be any secret doors in this area either. Katinka listens and then opens a door. Her darkvision reveals that even 60 feet beyond begins a maze of corridors that appear heavily dusted. Given the size of the Palace, looking blindly for any true remains could take weeks!

Trellus looks at the bone remains in the Throne Room. A cursory look can tell the cleric (who has lived in this desert with the Pasha for a year) two things. The first is there are at least a dozen skeletons in the room of various ages, and that oat of them still have clothing and rusted equipment of Yngvardins. One mostly intact skeleton has a necklace nearby that is... Identical to the necklace the Pasha was wearing!

Restlin impulsively grabs the pieces of the broken sword and rushes out of the palace and into the courtyard (away from the magic and evil auras of the Palace). He also has moved out of the anti-undead aura as well!

Fading into visibility in front of Restlin is about a dozen ghost-like warriors in desert robes. The lead one wears a ghostly necklace that looks similar to the Pasha's necklace. The lead ghost tries to shout, and Restlin only hears a whisper; "Ally of the Yngvardians, free our curse. Destroy the true remains of Grendal the Cruel. "

Restlin's first thoughts are of how ticked off Sesha's going to be with him if he gets himself killed. These are allayed when the ghosts start talking instead of attacking him.

Then the magepriest smiles and answers back, "I would absolutely *love* to help you with that. Seriously, it's why we're here. We're not having much luck finding those remains though. Could you and your compatriots lend us a hand or give any advice?"

He then points out the necklace. "That necklace, is it one of a kind? I've seen at least one other just like it."

Tink shuts the door to the dusty corridor and shakes her head to Garret. Ever had the feeling the answer to the problem was staring you right in the face? That's how she feels right about now.

She rejoins the others in the main room.

"Just thinking... breaking am item isn't the same as destroying it. A few magic spells and it would be repaired in no time. Assuming these are the items we need to destroy, we probably need to be more thorough."

Of course there is the matter of where the remains are. She turns to Sesha. "I don't suppose you're able to talk with the dead bodies here and ask them where the remains are and where the items are?"

Sesha shakes her head with an emphatic no.

"I tried that once and was attacked by some unknown force. Maybe if Bosk brings a corpse with him outside I can try again, buy considering we killed them, they might not want to help us."

Sesha ponders some more, but until Trellus and Restlin return, she doesn't have much to go on. Still, there having been an obvious ruse, she can't help but shake the feeling that Grendel is un-alive and well, and possibly not in the pyramid anymore.

Trellus is squatting in front of one of the older skeletons, elbows on knees. After several long moments, he reaches out and removes a necklace from it.

"Bosk?" he calls out. "Can you tell how long a body has been dead?"

The cleric straightens at Katinka's suggestion.

"No, I don't think we want to destroy the bodies." He waves at the older skeletons. These are all dressed as Yngvardians. And this dude," pointing him out, "is wearing the Pasha's necklace. And, packmates, that is totally sunbaked."

Trellus is furiously rubbing the back of his head, eyes closed, and he struggles to remember what he knows about the Pasha and his family - "A son? An ancestor?"

Speculation in the Throne Room is becoming frustrating and fruitless. Many thoughts quest to the heroes out of the Throne Room, but the Iron Adventurers wait for them to return for answers.

Trellus has a brain block. The necklace is significant, he just knows it, it is on the tip of his tongue. At last it comes back, for it has only been three days. H'aarvard the Sage, advisor to the Pasha, had an ancient scroll that describes a warrior prince, Faerlung Gaulikson, getting into the city. The writer waited for a month in vain for the great prince's return. And the necklace is a snow of the royals of the Yngvardians that remind the of the stories of their people.

Restlin doesn't inform his mates, but continues to speak with the ghosts.

The ghost leader again appears as if shouting across a great distance, but Restlin only feels the gentlest of whispers. "We were Yngvardians who tried to break the curse and are now trapped within this pyramid. Our bodies lay in the Throne Room and the fake tomb. The other evil spirits kept us away from you and we daren't go near the Palace as we are now. Yet through our enforced prison, we know the start of the path to the remains of Grendel the Cruel. Hurry! Appearing and speaking in a form you can see is difficult!"

Already, one of the twelve ghosts has disappeared...

Tink and Garrett find the same maze of corridors at the other three doors.

For Restlin, the lead ghost points across the courtyard to a triangle building in a non descript corner. "There is the temple in which Grendel's body lay, hidden by misdirection, puzzles, traps, and evil. Oh woe! There is no rest while his remains are here!" And with those words, the ghost fades out.

Restlin has a hunch that the ghost is telling the exact truth as he sees it.

Sesha sighs and lounges for a bit, then heads back to the others after tossing the false scepter into the sarcophagus.

"Well, even though this stuff is pretty much worthless, it gives us an idea of what Grendel is carrying. Heavy armor, a sword, a sceptre..and in my experience that item scares me the most. The last scepter I saw controlled a horde of acidic vermin."

Recalling how her group of dark elves were tracked via scrying during that night, she goes ahead with a Detect Scrying spell, that will alert her if she is detected by or comes within 40 ft of a magical sensor.

Restlin explains what he saw, and Tink looks a little sceptical. Has the wizard finally gone over the edge? "This ghost that you saw and spoke with. Is it speaking with you now?" (Sense Motive: 31 to try and work out if Restlin has gone off his rocker. Also looking for any unnatural auras around him, in case he has been enchanted)

Still, the group are back together in one place again with a common goal. That's a good thing.

Tink will try and stay a few paces ahead of Restlin, wary of another ambush.

The Iron Adventurers reunited, the banter continues, the false royal items dismantled and put away for selling later, and the group goes to the courtyard. (Bosk also has acquired two doses of Pirple Worm Poison!)

Approaching the small temple, the Iron Adventurers can see a blocky script the reads Temple of Ipictraclt.
The temple is a triangle closing off the far right corner of the square, the right angle being the far right corner of the pyramid with the door to enter it in the middle of the hypotenuse.

The inside walls are covered in mosaics that depict battle scenes of the Gaelis defeating the Yngvardians. A horrific demonic being watches from a high mountaintop. In the middle of the triangular area is a 5'x5' pedestal 4' tall with a replica of the temple pyramid. Its top section is flat and a small gold replica of the king stands on top of the pyramid looking at the demon mosaic.

The obvious thing is that there are four tiles missing from each of the four sides of the pyramid.

Away from the influence of the undead zapping room, Sesha figures that it's probably not a bad time to check in with her Immortal Summons. Sesha was fond of the ghostly sisters, especially since they didn't seem to mind being undead. She may have some grey areas for scruples, but she had come a long way from where she started, and slavery, of any creature was not something she was about.

She takes a moment to clear her mind, and makes the call for one of the sisters.... After a moment of focus, Myrth materializes with a giggle, laying a small ghostly hand on Sesha's shoulder.

"Hey Sesha. How can I help?"

Sesha smiles and gestures at the room.

"Can you please take a moment and check around the room for false walls and the like? Since you can just pass through them, it's probably easier for you than any of us. Also, keep an eye out for tiles. I know it sounds weird, just trust me."

Myrth nods, and sets about checking the room for anything strange, as well as checking behind the walls and floor and ceiling.

Restlin scratches his head a bit. I guess it was too much to expect to walk in here and just find the remains sitting around waiting to be destroyed. He inspects the spaces where the tiles are missing. Can he see inside the pyramid, or is the substructure of the pyramid just bare in those places? Are the tiles missing all square?

Does the figurine on top look anchored down?

As the others look at the pyramid Bosk takes a moment to scan the area for spirits.

Sense Spirit (SU): The grim can sense the direction and distance to any disembodied spirit or soul in long range (400 ft. + 40 ft./level), even through material objects. This could let the grim target the spirit's square, but not see it (unless it is within 60 feet). Sense spirit is a supernatural ability that takes a full round action to initiate and lasts for so long as the grim concentrates.

Myrth appears to Sesha in a giggle and zips around the pyramid. It only takes a minute and she is back. There do not appear to be any passages on the other side of two of the walls, but the third wall scares Myrth and she doesn't want to go there.

Katinka thinks the scenes are about the power of Ipictraclt, a demon name if ever she heard one. Looking around the room, she spies a small gold chip in one of the tapestries which turns out to be a missing piece from the pyramid! It has a Teucri symbol on it...

Beri and Restlin see the missing pieces do look like puzzle pieces that would fit into a board. The pyramid itself looks solid except for the missing pieces.

Bosk empties his mind and concentrates on disembodied spirits within 400 feet. There are a whole bunch out in the city, but none within 100 feet of this temple.

Garrett and Restlin both manage to find a piece. Both of their pieces are of different metals, and both also have a Teucri symbol!

Restlin and Trellus look at the pyramid and mosaics. The king figure is solid on the pyramid, and Trellus can't think of a historical story that would match any of the scenes.

Knowing what the group is looking for, it actually only takes a couple minutes to gather all the pieces!

Sesha blinks in surprise at Myrth. What the heck would scare a ghost? She hadn't ever heard of a summoned entity refusing an order, but she was certain that her relationship with the Sisters probably gave them a little more room to assert themselves, which was something Sesha wholly supported.

"Is it another of the anti-undead fields? If so, I won't force you through there. Or is it something else?"

Tink carefully picks up the gold chip that she finds by one of the tapestries.

"One of these days, I'm going to have to spend some serious time learning teucri symbols. For now, I'm going to assume the trick here is to place the tiles back in the right places in the pyramid"

Since she lacks the knowledge of teucri symbols - for now at least - she looks for some other clue as to how the pieces might fit together.

Are the tiles all the same size? Given they are to fit into a pyramid, one would think the larger tiles would be at the bottom and the smaller tiles at the top.
Do they have any irregular sides? If so, they might be as simple to put together as a jig-saw puzzle.
Are the sides of the pyramid made of different metals? That would also help narrow down where each piece goes.
Does the mosaic depict any symbols on the pyramid that the party might copy for the smaller model?

Tink loves puzzles like this. It reminds her of the evenings she would spend with her parents where they would play word games after supper.

Raw Int check to try and figure the puzzle out: 17 (Take 10). If the party are going to be here for a while, Tink could feasibly take 20 and hit 27.

"Knowledge of Teucri symbols is very limited, even after thousands of years of study by some of the best minds Hook City has to offer. If you could figure it out, you'd be a celebrity back home. That's not to say you can't, of course, just pointing out that there's really very little to go on."

Restlin does check those symbols out, however. Maybe he's seen them before, even if he didn't understand their meaning.

Knowledge, local: 34 - Has Restlin seen those symbols before? If linguistics is more appropriate, skill check is 35.

If he can figure anything out that would help Tink solve this, he'll offer it. He overhears Sesha talking about the third wall, but is content to let her and the rest of his friends worry about that for right now...

Instead, he tries to look around to see if he can see any relationship to where the pieces are in relation to the pyramid. This is pyramid was likely originally ornamental or ceremonial. There is probably some common phrase written out on the symbols. Maybe I can find it written on a tapestrey in here or on the items we already collected.

Since they have all the other - possibly false - items with them, Tink will also look at those to see if they might also have some clue as to how the pyramid tiles should be put together. Maybe there's a picture of the pyramid on the cape, or an etching on the ring. Who knows?
