Beri the hulking shadow beers down as his friends battle on. He wracks his brain for what seems like an hour, before realizing that everything he would like to do to help requires not being paralyzed. So instead he studies the attackers as carefully from his vantage point, trying to catch any sign of weapons or other unseen tricks these guys may have so that he won't be caught off guard again

DM JT Note: Ok, on Negative Energy and Energy Drain.

Negative Energy is not level drain. It is the effects such as with Inflict spells. It is simply damage, like when hit by a Cause Light Wounds type of spell.

Energy Drain is level loss. See the description under Universal Monster Rules.

In our combat, the Flying Archers and Wraiths cause Negative Energy. The Specters cause Energy Drain.

I believe Bosk was the Specter target and they are destroyed now.

Bosk quickly surveys the area and watches as Tink encloses herself in a resilient sphere. That will keep her safe for the moment. The blond taur then looks to the south and feels Restlin embuing him with unnatural luck. Between that and Tink's gift of haste the cleric feels like an undead hunting machine.

Suddenly he calls out, "Every life hangs by a thread, I am that thread!"

Immediately he lays into the shadow south of him, his ghost touch enhanced sword, horn and armor spike tearing into it. He then moves on to the Allips south of that. (I can only reach the first Allip, not the second. If I still have part of the full attack left once they are dead, can I hold them in case the wraiths attacking Tinks move towards Beri and come in my reach?).

Gated Compound Second Half of Round 2, The IA's turn:

The IA continue to strugle against their Undead foes. It is a toss up as to who is winning, several Undead are dead again but Beri is paralyzed.

Passing through immobile Allips, Garret gets behind them and lets loose. Although attacking them breaks Sesha's Halt Undead spell, will any survive his flurry of furry feet?

His attacks finish off the one he hurt earlier and one other one, but one is still left, slightly hurt and now free to attack.

Sesha channels a dark pulse of magic which leaves the living unaffected, expending 500gp worth of diamond dust (please subtract this from your PC sheet).

The spell affects the Undead in a 40' radius circle. Two Wraiths are snuffed out. The Shadow and the Undead Archer at the edge of the spell effect are unaffected.

Will DC23:
Allip = 23
Wraith 1 = 25
Wraith 2 = 9
Wraith 3 = 7

Trellus, seeing that the Shadow is still hovering over him tries to stand up and go into Total Defense. However, standing up in itself provokes an AoO, but he barely manages to avoid the deadly swipe.

DM JT Note: Stand up from prone is Move action, Total Defense is a Standard Action and the bonus to AC does not apply until fully standing, after the AoO.

Shadow AoO = 17

Beri remains floating in the air, no wind here to push him to or fro.
Paralysis 2 rounds left.

Restlin's Hound Archon pops in and is directed to attack Tink's foes if still there or next closest one.

He then confers a 'bit o luck' on Bosk (D20s rolled twice and best result used, for 1 round).

The Hound Archon goes to Tink's aid. Reaching it, the archon swings it's mighty sword:
MW Greatsword +9 = 12 miss

However, the Archon's Aura tries to affect the Wraith:
Aura of Menace Will DC16 = 19

The Wraith is unaffected by the Aura, but the Magic Circle Against Evil 10' rad. is bound to help (+2 deflection Bonus to AC and +2 resistance bonus on saves).

BOsk calls out "Every life hangs by a thread, I am that thread!" and sets his aim on the Shadow attacking Trellus. His first strike misses and his 2nd off hand misses, the others hit. This is enough to finish it off.

katinka sees her plight very grim with a Wraith still attacking her and decides to encase herself in a Resilient Sphere.

Start of Round 3, the enemies' turn:

The Allip on Sesha tries to so suck more Wisdom out of her:
Incorporeal Touch DC18 = 18 dmg = 2 Wis drain, Will DC15 to negate.

DM JT: I may have missed the Will save last time. Go check and roll if needed.

The Wraith on Tink knows no fear of the Archon and now unable to affect Katinka, sets his aim on it.

Incorporeal Touch DC12 (bonus included) = 24, dmg = 6 negative energy + 4 Con drain (Fort DC17)

Fort save DC17 = 15 +2 bonus = 17, barely!

The two Undead Archers, bony, emaciated corps not too unlike zombies but that fly and use bows with deadly accuracy, continue their attacks.

Seeing a hated outsider, the one to the left sends his volley of arrows at the Archon:

Arrow 1 DC19 = 27
Arrow 2 DC19 = 28
Arrow 3 DC19 = 20
Arrow 4 DC19 = 23
Damage = 33 + 12 negative energy + Paralysis Fort DC19 = 15 + 2 bonus = 17 failed.

The Archon is at 0hp and 12 negative energy and is paralyzed.

The farther one, on the right, targets Bosk again:

It pays to have good AC.

Things start looking up for the IA, but alas...

Restlin winces as his hound archon is beset by undead and arrows. Still, better a summon than one of his friends. He takes comfort in knowing the archon will be back on its home plane soon, no worse for wear.

He decides these archers are getting bothersome. He casts a wall of force from OP7-OP16 (20' high).

"That's half of them," he thinks to himself...

With Bosk rolling through just about anything in the vicinity, Trellus decides to see what he can do about the archer off in the distance.

Keeping an eye on the last Allips, the cleric casts a spell. A white-hot ray of light streaks toward the far off archer.

Thanks for the Ghost Weapon info for the Sneak Attack question.

While my brain was getting numbed at work, I had an epiphany. I had wondered if Negative Energy needed some special healing and search all over for all things related to Negative Energy when it suddenly hit me.

The most common Energy forms we deal with is Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Acid. However Sonic energy is somewhat common and then, of course, Negative Energy.

Whereas a Flaming Sword will do cutting damage, it will also do fire damage. So a Shadow Sword would do cutting damage and negative energy damage.

If you cast Resist Energy, you can choose Negative instead of the common Fire or Ice.

I can finally sleep well tonight. :)

Sorry to wake you, but the spell is really specific.

"This abjuration grants a creature limited protection from damage of whichever one of five energy types you select: acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. "

Negative energy harms living creatures and heals undead, just the opposite of positive energy.

It's like each wraith punch does a tiny little channel negative energy on impact.

DM JT: LOL. Correct. I didn't look up the Resist Energy spell. But the resulting conclusion is the same - it heals just like any other damage. :)

Sesha resists the drain on her wisdom, but doesn't see much to celebrate at the moment. There was nothing she could do for Beri, his condition was beyond her magic, and Katinka, who had suffered the most gristly flesh wounds was encased in her sphere.

She jams a message through her link with the other casters.

"Those flying things have got to go. If several of us wind up like Beri we could be toast! I'm going to try to take over it's body!"

She winks at Garret, he had seen this trick before.

"Protect my body as best you can Garret!"

The her body slumps to the ground, as near as anyone can tell, quite dead.

DM JT: here are the IA results. I had to wait for Sesha's action because of what's coming next. I've got part of their Action, but it's past midnight here and work is in 5 hours.

Gated Compound Second Half of Round 3, The IA's turn:

Restlin winces as the Hound Archon winks out of existence in mere moments of its bright and valiant appearnce. He takes comfort in knowing the archon will be back on its home plane soon, no worse for wear. Of course, Restlin would have a different opinion if he'd be the one to keep getting brought in just to die time and time again... :)

Deciding the Archers are getting bothersome, he casts a Wall of Force to block one side of the path from arrows. (OP7-OP16 20'high).

Garret continues his flurry and finishes off the last Allip.

Bosk wonders how many more are there, suggesting setting the trees on fire to try to burn the undead before they swarm again. He decides to cast Fly on himself and positions himself directly over Beri to protect him.

DM JT Note: I forgot Bosk had to reactivate the Sense Undead.

Trellus, now free to act in relative safety, casts a [i]Searing Light[/b] spell at the Archer Undead to their right. The ray shoots true and hits the creature.

Beri floats in the air like a hot air balloon.
Paralysis 1 rounds left.

Katinka is now tucked safely in her little sphere and scans around for more foes. She knows there is little chance to seeing any incorporeal creatures, but there might be other types.

Sesha realises the danger of those bony arrows and tries a desperate measure to stop them. She puts her soul in her Magic Jar, her body flops to the ground as if dead. Inside her Jar, she searches for a powerful target. Right now there are two available of equal strength. She'll decide which one to go for next round.

Fearing for Sesha's unprotected body, Tink teleports to the witch (Use Dimensional Step ability. Per Resilient Sphere/Wall of Force: "Teleport, and similar effects can bypass the barrier")

"Psst. I'm with you Garret" she whispers. Her invisibility should last a few more rounds ( 5 more rounds precisely)

The left Bony Archer decides to utilize the Wall of Force to its advantage and flies righ tup to it, then lets loose a dreadful Howl.

Katinka and any who are not affected by Fear are unaffected by the Howl, all others, even Sesha if she is affected by Fear:

Will save DC19. Fail = Paralyzed with Fear for 1 round. Save = Shaken for 1 round.

The Wraith has seen Bosk's Ghost Armor and Weapons and slinks under Beri, out of range or Bosk's Reach, and comes up next to Reslin:

The Undead Archer seeks the perpetrator of the searing light and lets loose his vengeance on Trellus:

Smelling Life and attracted by the fight, more undead join the frey, flying in, springing up from the ground, causing medlam.

Two Specters emerge from the ground flanking Garret and take life draining swipes at him:

To make things worse, a Shadow emerges from the trees, flies underneath Beri Swiping at him and continuing its flight into the ground.

If Beri didn't have enough problems already, 3 Wraiths emerge from the ground underneath him and attack the paralyzed floating Air Elemental.

ooc: Can Bosk use a Hero Point as an immediate action when the creatures appear to cast either Consecrate or Magic Circle Against Evil to aid the group (Prior to them getting their attacks in)?

DM JT: I'll look up the rules for Hero Point usage.

DM JT: Usage of Hero Points are a Free Action and it seems clear, from the examples given, that they can only be used during your turn. That seems to rule out an Immediate Action not on your turn.

One of the uses of a hero point are "Act Out of Turn: You can spend a hero point to take your turn immediately. Treat this as a readied action, moving your initiative to just before the currently acting creature. You may only take a move or a standard action on this turn."

Shaking off the screams and babbling of the undead all around them, Garret looks around as he sees Restlin, Trellus, Sesha, and then Tink quickly disappear, leaving him by himself near the swarm of undead. He pauses for a moment, thinking he might be able to take them all, but then realizes that he needs to be near his friends. He looks around for just a moment, then steps quickly, also disappearing and reappearing near the others, ready for action.

Bosk continues defending Beri, swinging at the he undead as they rise. Gargul shall judge you before this is done. he says as he swings at the wraiths attacking Beri.

This is not looking good. Lets try to finish these guys off. If we can or another group start heading this way, I will cast hide from dead and then we need to book it! I'll carry Beri if need be.

DM JT answers Bosk's questions:

Beri was flying above the party 15' or 20' up when hit and paralyzed. Since I don't think AIr Elementals have weight, I kept him 'floating' at 20' high. Bosk positions himself above Beri, putting Bosk at least 40' high, as Beri is Large.

The undead came up from the ground and are directly under Beri. I had the Icons for Bosk and Beri not quite large enough for Large (10'/10'). That's fixed now.

Bosk is 40' up, the undead are 15' up, putting them 25' away from Bosk but Beri is also between Bosk and the undead.

Thanks for clearing that up. Can I use a hero point to move under Beri? I still want to protect him in his helpless state.

DM JT: He has Fly, he should be able to expend a Move and fly (40 w/ med to heavy armor, 60 otherwise). One Move will get him in position to attack south of Beri, Tink blocks the north side (she's 20' up). Two Move Flying actions can put him under the wraiths but to get directly under Beri some will get AoO. From there, expending a Hero Point can get you one attack. Either way, you'll have to Move, so you don't get your Full Round Attack.

Bosk had medium weight armor, but the travel domain increases his speed by 10 ft for a total distance of 50ft. I will use the hero point for a single extra move action to get as far down as I can South of Beri. If for some reason I cannot do that I will use the Hero Point instead for an additional standard action and use dimension door to appear under Beri.

DM JT: The Hero Pt. for the extra move will get you south of Beri and at his level (drop further and one gets an AoO. At that location, your reach should work for all three wraiths. Under Bosk will still be a wraith and an Allip.

Gated Compound IA's turn Round 4:

Despite the influx of new foes into the fray, only two are candidates for Sesha's Magic Jar spell. They are the two Undead Archers and they are both of equal power, but the Wall of Force blocks her from reaching (line of effect) the unhurt one, so she must go for the farthest one:

Will DC23 = 15

The Unnatural Magic works and Sesha finds herself inside a horrible body of an Undead creature.

Trellus manages to stave off all the babbling effects and Fear effects, then he calls out "Domi's Light!" to Channel Positive energy to hurt those undead within 30' around him.

Restlin sees the danger of the IA being split up and acts to prevent that by using his Dimentional Step ability to move north 35' taking Sesha and Trellus with him, calling for Garret to Tumble along. As he travels, he rotates his body around so when he re-materializes Sesha is furthest away from the enemy.

Katinka was going to exit her protective sphere and join in protecting Sesha, but then Reslin, Sesha, and Trellus blink out and reappear right next to her. So she remains in her protective sphere when she sees Restlin blink out.

DM JT: Katinka posted she was going to Dimansional Step out of the Sphere, this was posted as an Action before the enemy went. Given that, she would be moving towards Restlin at the same time Restlin moves towards her. For all that, she would not have moved and stayed in the sphere. I'll keep her there. Unless she really wants out.

Garret briefly, for about 1 second, thinks that he should take on all the undead around him alone, but opts to join his friends instead and uses his monk's Abundant Step ability to end up right nest to
Restlin. [DM JT: Counting your Ki pool I expect. :) ]

Beri Beri floats in the air like a hot air balloon being pecked at by Wraiths and a shadow. He somehow fends off one attack, two hit and injure him. He shakes off the worse of the Constitution drain but still looses 1 point of Constitution. The Shadow saps 1 point of strength!

Paralysis expires end of this round. He may move next round.

Bosk tries to defend Beri as best as possible. The Wraiths, though, are underneath Beri! Beri's large form prevents the minotaur from reaching them. He has to get around Beri. Katinka blocks the way to the north. Bosk pulls deep within himself and expends a Hero Point to get into position, then unleashes his full fury. The results are two dead wraiths.

DM JT: I forgot to remind you to Roll your Fly check for Hoovering last round. Take a look again at the Fly skill to refresh your memory as to when you need to roll a Fly check.

Restlin gasps as a shadow swipes at Sesha from underground. He'll be damned if that's happening again.

Gripping Shiny's pommel, he telepathically asks, "make me strong, Shiny." (Bull's Strength)

The wizard then bends down and picks her up & puts her over his shoulder (Restlin's buffed strength is a 12, making carrying Sesha a heavy load, but possible).

His companions grouped together again, Restlin feels good about their chances of dispatching the undead surrounding Bosk. Still, these underground shadows are a real concern. He casts mirror image on himself to try and fool the things.

Hmm... I'm not sure if this applies to a shadow, but if the shadow appeared at R4, then moved through R5 to attack Sesha, should Garret get an AOO? If so, Garret would like to take the AOO to use Stand Still to attempt to stop the Shadow from getting away (CMB: 21). Of course, being a shadow, I don't know if this will work, but if so, he'll go for it.

As the others regroup Bosk does his best to hold off and take out the remaining undead. Reflexively he attackes the approaching Specter (only creature entering my range who was outside of it). He thanks Gargul once again for his many gifts as he unleashes his furry fury upon those enemies closest his friends and then those who had the nerve to try laying their cursed remains of hands upon him.

ooc: It looks like there are some overlapping enemies on the map. After my AoO on the approaching Specter. If I am reading the map correctly the farthest North creatures (closest to the others) are a wraith and an Allip. If thie is true I will start with the wraith and then move on to the Allip. Then I will go after the other wraith. If I manage to kil that I will go after the Spectre that I received the AoO on.

Tink stays safe within her shell. She beats her fists against the side of the translucent sphere when she sees Sesha's body attacked. At what point does protecting oneself become cowardice? Should she be out there? If she was, could she help at all, or would she be a burden?

For now, all she can do is watch the chaos unfold

Like waking up unable to breath, Sesha's consciousness slams awake inside the foreign body of the undead hunter she had possessed. Even though she had tucked it away inside of the receptacle on her body, she could feel the malevolence and seething hatred of the departed soul.

Gaining her bearings, she awkwardly realized she was still in control of the creatures flight, which was a good thing.

"Punish them. Hunt them. Devour them."

The thoughts were her own, but foreign, and they scared her just a little. Focusing her cold, empty socket stare at the fracas, she dashes back into the pile, (S11) and retrieves her staff from the ground. ( Assumed AC vs aoo)

Move: 60ft to staff.
Double Move: Pick up staff.

Gate Compount Bottom of Round 5:
Defensive positions versus Incorporeal Undead proves harder than it looks on paper, the IA discover.

Beri begins to feel the sensation returning to his extremities (of an Air Elemental?) and knows he will regain control over his body in mere moments. He just has to make two more Fort saves DC19 or continue to be paralyzed.

Restlin gasps as the shadow rakes Sesha as it flys by, draining strength from her. She does not have all that much to spare and now even less.

From his sword's special ability, he gains extra strength of his own and flops Sesha's body over his shoulder. (One handed at that!)
Now Encumbered, his Max Dex bonus is +1, his Check Penalty is -4, and his move is reduced to 20ft.
But that is the price he decides to pay to protect Sesha's body. He then casts Mirror Image on himself
creating 4 identical images of himself.

Bosk is surrounded by undead, bellow, above and to the sides (thus the overlapping figures). This is what the minotaur likes best of all, lots of targets within easy range. He manages to kill both wraiths and an Allip.

Trellus decides to use his Channel Positive Energy again, but to wait until the Shadow shows itself.
Held Action: Channel Positive Energy, 26 dmg Will DC18 halves.

Katinka lets out her frustration by pounding her fists on the protective sphere's walls, unable to help her friends from within.

Sesha, now in the new Undead Body, tries to get a grip on her new feelings. She holds a bow and carries a quiver of arrows. The bow is made of bone, but the arrows seem the normal kind. The 'string' for the bow is made of sinew from who knows what. But instead of using this weapon, she dashes towards her dropped staff (P14).
She flies as fast as she can (60') but takes both Moves to get to the staff.
Meanwhile, she is unaware of her body's predicament.

Garret holds his attack and is ready to spring upon any undead that decides to get into range.

Unaware that the Undead Archer 2 is 'possessed', the other undead ignore it. However they do not ignore the fact that staying around the minotaur is not good and split.

The Allips converge on Beri, two above him and one below.
The Specters fly out from Bosk and then into the ground.

Bosk gets an AoO on which ever one he chooses.

Allip Incorporeal Touch vs Beri DC16 (Paralysis gone at this point):

The Undead Archer 1 turns his attention to Bosk and lets loose a volley of bony arrows.

The Shadow emerges again to get the helpless Sesha, but finds Restlin holding her instead and 5 of them. He still uses his tactic of emerging, swiping, and going back into the ground (Up at P4, down at Q5). Knowing she is helpless, the shadow still takes a swipe at the limp body despite Restlin's sword.

Restlin stabs Shiny down at the shadow as it attempts to injure Sesha again. The boy's no fighter, but with a little (ok, lot) of luck, he manages to nip the thing.

He chuckles as one of his figments puffs away harmlessly.

Emboldened by the lack of undead now surrounding them, Restlin reconsiders his previous stance on retreat. Clicking his heels together, he activates his boots of levitation. If that shadow wants a piece of Sesha that badly, it can come up into open air.

Staff in hand, Sesha rises above the wall of force and considers her options.

"Hunt them. DEVOUR THEM."

She hears the voice that is hers, but foreign, compelling her to raise the bow. For a sickening moment, she feels unable to prevent herself from considering how easily she could skewer the flying Restlin..

"Sesha, No!"

Pot-pot's voice drowns out her own, and she is relieved. Dropping the bow to the ground, she points her staff at the other flying archer. She taunts it, her voice foreign and cruel as she closes in, skull to skull with the monster.

"I shall name thee quarry! I shall capture thy spindly, bony shell and make it a puppet until I grow weary of your worthless servitude!"

The words were not her original intent, nor the tone she desired. She would have to be more careful with whom she swapped souls in the future.

DM JT: FYI to Sesha, the Undead Archer can indeed get an an AoO. It holds the bow with only one hand and since it is not its turn, nor held its action, has not drawn the string, therefore it's second hand is free to CLAW attack. Or optionally use the bow as a non-standard weapon and bop her with it.

Ken: It wouldn't matter either way. Quickened spells don't provoke and neither does casting through staves.

Restlin takes a swipe at the shadow and knicks it. Not liking it's ability to go underground, he clicks his heels and activates his Boots of Levitation, then rises 20'.

Garret, is startled by the shadow's abrubt appearance. Unable to fly, he watches Restlin rise and contemplates grabbing hold of his ankle to go up with him but takes his place and readies for the shadow to appear again instead.

Sesha has a battle of Wills of her own as she tries to keep her sanity while in the Undead body. It's negative energy power threatens to overcome her own sense of self. But Pot-Pot calls out to her and brings her back to her sense, for now.

She flies over to the other Undead Archer and uttering a quickened Curse, reaches out to touch it.
Touch Attack +11 (+6 base, +4 Dex, +1 Haste) = 29
Save Will DC22

She then uses her Staff to cast Command Undead, Will DC19.

Beri, once again feeling mobility coming back to his members gets pelted several times more and lo, is Paralyzed again for 3 more rounds.
Round 3/3.

Bosk takes a swipe at the last Allip and demolishes it. He then takes pauses and looks around.
He senses lots of other undead around but none approaching at the moment.

DM JT: that allip wasn't suposed to be there, my fault. LOL
Doesn't the Sense Spirits take a Standard to Activate? I'll treat your attack on the Allip as your AoO.


Katinka finally decides to join the battle and Dimension Steps out her sphere, ending up 60' up. She then sees Beri still immobile! Digging deep within herself she pools her Life resources and casts another Resilient Sphere spell around him.

DM JT: I think Beri is Large Air Elemental and if so, that should work.

Trellus is at a loss as to what to do next. taking a step back and suggesting to move on.

Gate Compound Bottom of Round 7:
The battle seems nearly over... nearly is the key word.

DM JT: I still haven't seen Beri's two Will Saves:

Beri remains paralyzed but now is protected by Katinka's Resilient Sphere. He watches helpless to do anything. What a bummer.
Round 2/3.

Trellus and AoO:
Trellus manages, to convert his Blade Barrier spell into a quickend form of Cure Moderate WOunds spell as is heads back into the ground.
Will DC20 halves:24 dmg 2d8+10 = 19 halved = 9

DM JT FYI: the Cure spells have varying level bonuses. The MAX level bonus for Cure Moderate Wounds is +10, the MAX for Light Wounds is +5, etc. So the 2d8+13 s/b 2d8+10. This can make a big difference so all you healing types, keep it in mind.

Frustrated, he calls out "Katinka, Bosk, can you help me with this thrice sun blasted treadle!"

Sesha first declares to her friends that the skies belong to her and warns her friends not to attack her or the other Undead Archer or they will die.

She then gives orders to the controlled undead to not harm the living down below and that she will grant it a great rewards for serving her against those she hunts and proceeds to order it to hunt the shadow.

DM JT: as per the spell description, when dealing with intelligent undead, a Charisma check is necessary when commanding it to do something it would not ordinarily do (ex: hunt other undead).
Sesha must beat Charisma check DC15 for it to attack the shadow (unless the shadow attacks Sesha or itself).


Garret has to assume the deep, raspy, chilling, voice issuing the warning not to attack it and the other Undead Archer is Sesha's, but it surely doesn't sound like her! Despite the Maybe-Sesha Undead Archer holding Sesha's staff, he keeps his guard up.

Bosk flies over to the area where the shadow popped up last and waits to waylay it. His senses reveal only one spirit nearby while multitudes of others are off at varying distances but not closing in.

DM JT: Anyone want to play Bosk a while? I'll do it if necessary. Combat is not as intensive right now as it was.

Katinka as well as Restlin also anxiously await the next appearance of the shadow.

With only the Shadow actively attacking, it is left up to chance, and maybe luck, that the IA manage to finish it off before more harm is done.

The Shadow continues it's hateful attack on the Cleric of Domi as it pops up at Q7 and makes a 180deg turn back into the ground:

Fly check DC20 = 24. (No AoO as the shadow goes into the ground at the same spot where it came up. Since the AoO occurs at the moment the foe leaves the threatened square, and at that point he is underground, can't be hit with what you have).

Incorporeal Touch Attack DC14 = 25, dmg = 3 Strength

Readied attacks go as normal.

Trellus' Readied attack:
Ready attack - Channel for 28 hp damage. DC 18 halves = 14, dmg = 28.

That last channeling by the now very weak Trellus finishes off the Shadow.

"You WILL obey and slay whatever it is I command thee to. Thy bow serves MY will, and when I no longer have need of it then and only then shall thee be free to pursue thy wicked hunt! Now stand guard while I attend to the husk I once called mine. It may serve me yet."

Realizing she is screaming, Sesha reclaims her components from her body, then inspects it carefully.

"The muscles and strength have waned. Unless one of you tasty fleshbags have a quicker route like a potion, I need a few minutes to restore the damage."

Unless interrupted or a faster option emerges, Sesha wil csst lesser restoration on her body.

Breathing heavily, Trellus takes stock. His head swivels, with some effort, to regard the undead archer that appears to be Sesha.

Its too much work to try and figure out at this point.

"I'm gonna need a minute, dudes" he murmurs.

The cleric begins an incantation, one that looks like its going to go on longer than your usual spell.

Cast Restoration - casting time 3 rounds. Removes all ability damage.

Her components recovered, Sesha begins doing the same, sneering with contempt at her limp, helpless body.

She begins the spell, focusing her magic towards healing her damage. She notes, with a scowl, how much easier it seems to be for Trellus to produce a stronger effect with less strain.

"This spell has given us a throwaway decoy on our hunt. If someone can carry my body, I'll scout forward. The other skeleton will come with me. I think he's learned his place, which is under my heel. He's ours for about two weeks, though he may quibble with me from time to time, I think I've made my point about who his enemies are and who he is forbidden from attacking."

The IA seem to get a respite from the Undead onslaught with the Shadow's demise.
Sesha and Trellus cast spells to undo the damage taken by the Shadow and Beriothian finally regains the use of his airy members.

Sesha's plan is to remain in the Undead Archer's body and scout ahead with her 'boyfriend'.

Restlin tries to be funny quipping "Yea, but it's pretty hot in its own way," in reply to Katinka's comment. He gets some unusual stares as there is nothing HOT about an emaciated, enzombied body, and no boobies either.

Either way, Restlin isn't keen on Undead-Sesha taking her fleshly body from the mage-priest. On the other hand, how is he going to argue about it?

One way or the other, once the IA and Friends are ready, they form up and continue down the stony path following the Gaeli tracks.

Shortly, as if conjured from the Shadow Realms, a magnificent (or once was magnificent) stone building emerges from the darkness at the edge of their light/vision. It has all the outward appearance of a grand palace. A wide courtyard splays in front of stone steps that lead up to a colonnaded porch and entryway.
Black, cold, ominous gaps where windows look out upon the parade grounds look like openings into the void.

The grand palace is four stories high and very ornate in its decorations and ornamentation but each embossed figure or statue seems to have taken on a sinister grotesque form. Or maybe they were carved that way?

The palace rear wall abuts against the stone wall of the pyramid. Basically, the rear wall IS the pyramid wall.

The main entrance to the palace is recessed into the building and can't be seen from ground level, but those flying can see a set of double doors that appear to be opened.

Any items that can be recovered from the undead will be tucked away for examination at a later stage.

Tink is once again happy to take the lead. Sure, she wasn't able to spot the spectres or undead that recently troubled the party, but hey! What're the chances there are more undead around here? :)

She renews her ring of invisibility and stealthily floats ahead.

"I can see a set of doors. Shall we proceed?"

Restlin continues holding Sesha's actual body. He may not be the strongest in the party, but he can be pretty darn effective with just one hand. He does his best to stay in the middle of the group.

"I think we need to get in that building, but that door may be trapped. Perhaps Sesha's current host or controlled pet should do the opening."

When the others hold, Sesha continues up to the door, giving it a shove (or a pull). Only a little indignant at Restlin having kept hold of her body, she justifies that she would have needed someone to hold it while she checked the door anyways,

Pushing back her innate distrust of the weapon, Sesha does reclaim the skeletal bow, and casts Divine Favor before rolling through the door.

Garret continues to hold up the rear of the group, keeping a close watch behind the group as they move forward (Perception: 22). However, he is clearly distracted by the undead that Sesha is controlling and he keeps turning to watch it, expecting it to start attacking the group at any moment.
