Rowhouses --- Jim C
Thursday March 22nd, 2012 6:05:30 PM

The group sets off for the address given to them by Ed. Once it's learned that it's another one of a set of rowhouses much like most in Hook City, Zeoll goes to work. First he observes the birds and see's a falcon kill a pigeon in midair and carry it off. With that tidbit of info, he takes Beltrin and Yondrim with him as he goes door to door asking about the inhabitant of the address they were given. All he finds out after three hours is that the lady that lives there is very quiet, never bothers anyone and never has any callers. As the hours pass by during his interviews, nothing happens on the lane in question as the rest of the group stake it out. Smoke from nearby chimneys puff here and there--probably getting ready to cook the evening meal, or in the case of Halflings, supper, which is just two hours before dinner.

Zeoll returns to share his findings, which are meager, and the lane remains quiet except for a few travelers who do not stop at any of the doors along the lane.

"Well, we could stake it out, but if their neighbors say they're quiet and rarely have visitors it's unlikely we'll learn much in a few hours. Who's for just knocking and asking some questions?"

"I'm not surprized that nothing's occured in three hours. A good stakeout is no less than 24 hours, and a bag of donuts," Alexi quips.

"Interesting to know that a lady lives here. Yet I was under the impression that the one that left the address with Ed was not a lady. If no one has seen anyone but a lady here, yet someone else is handing out this address nilly-willy, then the address is a decoy, or something is fishy about this lady."

Well, Zeoll is not convinced that knocking on the door is the best answer, and usually he is in favor of being the one to knock, but since he is flying and invisible, he figures he has an opportunity.

So no dilly dallying!

If someone else goes to knock on the door, Zeoll will fly up to peek in the windows. He also keeps back enough so he can keep the door in sight and see who answers it.

Looking up the chimney, Beltrin see's nothing unusual. Restlin looks about the downstairs and can't seem to find anything in the mess that piques his attention. All the while Bosk climbs up to the edge of the roof, the steep pitch up to the chimney looks very perilous and with all his weight, the clay shingles could break very easily--sending him falling to his death, or at least in a lot of pain. The upstairs still remains unsearched.

Checking the upstairs, and totally not trying to be stealthy about it, Beri and the rest find that there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms have been trashed, but the bathroom is fairly untouched. Paintings have been taken off the walls and all have been scraped to reveal the canvas below--some have even been cut.

In the bathroom, a small dish sits near the commode. In it are twelve beads, all nearly identical to the bed found in Heather Brody's house. A black thread, snapped in half, sits on top.

I think that we should all go together to the auction. Alexi's note is a good start, perhaps we can find a runner as well."

"...when the storage unit is opened, you have 5 minutes to inspect the contents. You cannot go into the unit; you cannot touch anything in the unit and there is no spellcasting alllowed on the storage grounds. If you are caught spellcasting or using a magic item, you will be escorted off the premises by security. Gold is king, chits work too, highest bidder wins it all!" The auctioneer then motions to one of the guards, of which there are three, to open the gates. The group along with about 30 other bidders enter the grounds and go to the first row of storage units--it is not unit 13a. A red lock and wire is wrapped around the locking clasp. The wire is cut and the lock is removed with a master key. When the door is opened upwards, it reveals a plethora of household goods and boxes. This unit and the several after it are all pretty much the same--the lives of people on a downward spiral that couldn't even afford to keep their common items from being taken from them.

When unit 13a is opened, it's contents viewable from the outside look to be: a bed and frame; dresser drawer; chest drawer; 5 chairs and a dining table; two chests; several boxes and more in the back under sheets that cannot be determined at this time. Bidding starts at 100gp and rapidly rises to 400gp and falters, with the highest bid so far going to a man wearing all black clothing. "Do I hear 450gp?"

Bosk has enough cash to front the money. We can decide via email if the group wants to split the cost, reimburse the cost when we next get loot, or if Bosk is the sole owner of whatever he just bought.

The taur opens up his massive hand and reveals a small pile of brightly colored chits. Let's see, an orange (1500gp), two red (500gp each) and two white chits (100 gp each) should cover it. So what is the process, can I go through the stuff now, and do I need to hire someone to bring this back to my tower, or can you deliver it for me later?

The Lady --- Jim C
Wednesday April 11th, 2012 1:26:08 PM

The Lady carefully checks the chits to see if they're counterfeit. When satisfied, she gives Bosk as receipt. "New at this eh? Well, the way we handle it is thusly. First, you have 24 hours to decide what to do with the contents of that unit. You can take it out now, or later, but it'll be unlocked unless you lock it yourself. If you don't have a lock, they sell them for the normal price up at the front office. After 24 hours you have the option of renting out the unit or making sure it's empty and unlocked. If it's still locked after 24 hours and you haven't rented it out for the month, which is 50gp a month, then your lock is cut off and everything is thrown out. 24 hours starts now and the time has been recorded on your receipt. They do not deliver anything, they just rent out the unit, it's your responsibilty to take care of the contents. Any questions?"

The Man in Black --- Jim C

The man in black doesn't seem to react to the name of Lowd, "Get yer ass out of the way, horsey." The man's hand strays to his sword. You think perhaps with what little room you've given him, he doesn't want to squeeze by you or get close to your posterior where you may kick him.

Unit 13a--- Jim C
Wednesday April 11th, 2012 1:34:52 PM

Tightly packed, Beri manages to start looking through some of the items, but it'll require them to be pulled out and spread out on the stone floor to be inspected--which is what others have done after winning their units. In his cursory scan, it looks like these items are used, but not badly so--perhaps they were replaced by the nicer items in her house.

Working towards the back, Beri pulls loose the bedsheet covering some paintings. They don't look like they're rare or anything (need an appraise check), but one painting stands out. It is of a woman holding a baby while sitting in front of two men. Behind them is an inn, it's name unreadable in this light. Beri slowly comes to recognize the woman as Heather Brody--perhaps 20 years younger.

Alexi is not worried about getting lost. Somehow, by asking enough people, he can find his way back. What does concern him is the lack of concern for the nature of this MIB by his friends, so focused on the items they just bought.

Alexi lets out a muted growl when he realizes he's lost track of the man in black. Had he not taken the time to become invisible, this would not have happened. But then he risked being seen. If he was visible, he could easily ask someone on the street if they noticed the MIB, but to do so invisibly would be awkward, if not frightening to the inquiree.

So Alexi is faced with a dilema. Wich way to go? The odds are that any one way is only a 33% chance of being the right way. Any calculations after that are meaningless. However he hadn't seen him ahead so he most likely took a left or right, making his next choice only a 50% chance hit or miss.

Alexi quickly decides to take a left at the intersection. At the next one he tries to outhink his quarry. If his first choice was correct, going straight would be wrong as he still does not see the MIB. So he's still left with a 50% or correctly guessing which way to turn. Taking a Left, then a Right, might be a logical way of outfoxing a trailer, however if the trailee was heading away from his destination and desired to reach it quickly to give his master the news of the sale, then he'd turn left again.

So Alexi turns Left.

By the time Alexi reaches the next intersection he still does not see his quarry so he must have turned again. Of course, the MIB could have ducked into a shop anywhere along the way. This he'd have to find out by retracing his path once the Invisibility potion wears off. But for now, again, he is faced with a Left or Right direction. He'd like to toss a chit, but if people saw a chit suddenly appear out of thin air there's no telling what chaos would insue.

This is a mind game, with a little luck. However, a candle light suddenly appears above his head, causing some excited comments from passerby's. He's not seen up ahead so that rules out going straight. If he turns left again, then he's right back near the street they were on before and could be spotted by any of the other members trying to catch up with Alexi. So the only other logical path open is to the right.

Alexi turns Right.

It's possible he'll come to us. We'll want to keep a watch these next few days. The next logical target would be us."

Recollecting what he knows, Zeoll believes the inn in question is just outside the city limits of Heranmar and has been there for some fifty years. Not a posh place to rest for the night, but neither a dive.

Alexi on the otherhand has no luck with tracking down the Man in Black. If he was following him back, he would never know.

Meanwhile the rest of the group waits patiently for Alexi's return. It has been almost half an hour.

Because I am an idiot who did not do the math at the time, although Zeoll actually leveled to 7th on March 12, I only just now noticed. :-) I have now leveled him up, and his PC sheet is almost up to date, except for loot adjustments for this module. To whom do I owe some auction cash, and how much?

Idiot that I am, I also note that my current hp total max, listed in my header as 35, is two levels out of date! It should have been 38 two levels ago, and 44 until today! Now, adding a d6 (roll in this post) ... a 3 ... Zeoll's new hp max should be 49!

Also, I vote a hero point to Alexi for chasing the man in black.

The other girl motioned to a corner of the room, "He was over there for a bit, maybe he pooped in the corner."

Putting his mind to it, Restlin can only think that the man was using illusory magic to hide his identity since no race of humanoids were all black--even drow had various shades of dark blue, but their eyes were never all black.

About this time Alexi enters the Iron Tower, he didn't get a chance to say goodbye to his inspector friend, but was glad to be out of the Yard--he had a feeling there that if you weren't in law enforcement, you were a suspect and that wasn't a good feeling to have.

Walking around the tower w/ detect magic up and running (recasting as needed) & a small magical ball of light following him around, Restlin realizes that the only time the girls have interacted with him was to send him crashing to the floor when he suggested they be exorcised. He decides to change that...

"Are you there, girls? I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot. Zeoll's rather fond of you and he seems to be a good judge of character. A little quick to go casting spells on strangers, but decent nonetheless. Anyway, I plan on staying in this tower for a while; my room is gorgeous after all. I figure we should get along. Restlin leaps around the corner, hoping to catch an intruder by surprise.

"I also try to keep this place tidy. Doesn't seem right to spend out hard-earned chits hiring a maid when I can magic the place clean pretty quickly, you know?"

Restlin opens the door to the roof, peaks his head up and makes sure Zeoll isn't dead. He puts two fingers to his eyes then slowly moves them in an arc towards the rest of the sky; eyes glaring at the world letting it know Restlin the Wizard is on the job. He heads back downstairs.

Bosk laughs a little at Yondrim. You do realize that minotaurs are no more related to cows than centaurs are right? That's the whole reason we hate the cow jokes so much, it is an insult to our heritage and divine creation. The fact is that all races of taurs are related to each other as descendants of one single noble taur race created by Domi. But through some great tragedy lost in time, the taurs diverged into liontaur, minotaur, and centaur. Though the details of the incident have been lost, and the very subject taboo among my people, the one thing we do remember was that it was the fault of the centaurs...he glances over towards the resident centaur...but that was a long time ago...

And from my learnings amungst the humans, We Minotaurs are to blame for keeping the wedge alive and well for all these years by our refusing to let it pass, because it is a matter of Honor.

Bosk smile, I have an idea, how about we try scrying on the murderer? I just learned a version of the spell yesterday. With the broken weapon, bead from the necklace, and the hair we found I should have a fair shot of finding him, especially if someone has a spell that can boot my wisdom for awhile.

ooc: I think we should talk about what to do next via email over the weekend so as to not clutter the board. In particular, do we want to go to Heranmar with the killer still in Hook City? Should we have Bosk cast his spell? It would make no sense to scry on someone we believe is in town if we are planning to leave. Also, do we need anything from the catacombs?

Lastly, no one reported not receiving my last email, so at this time I am assuming my list is correct.

Beltrin is happy to trade spells with Restlin and will even offer to split the cost of the scrolls with him. Whatever personality conflicts the two wizards might have, they are quickly forgotten when the expansion of his magical power is at hand.

Beri, I don't think that a custom item like that would be allowed in the Wold, since it doesn't fall under the specific listings for specialty items here:

Catacombs rules

If it is allowed, it would cost 30,000 gp (spell level 3 x caster level 5 x 2,000 gp).

I just figure if we're quick to divvy up booty based on who was present for the adventure, it makes sense that we'd do the same for our debts. 'Welcome to the Iron Adventurers! That will be 5000 gold, please!' isn't much of a recruitment slogan."

Restlin will instead hand over 1 red chit and the 162 gp in coin he has. "I think that's about 10gp short of what Alexi and I owe.

"As far as our plans, Beltrin and I can undoubtedly keep ourselves busy locking this place down for an extended leave. Maybe Beri can see about upgrading our locks and adding some more mundane traps. Perhaps everyone else can go talk to the Inspector and see about getting teleported to and from Hernamar, or else arrange passage on a ship through the plains. What's say we plan on leaving tomorrow?"

Assuming that's the plan, Restlin goes ahead and finishes scribing his two spells into his book, then takes a crack at learning the spells Beltrin has that he still lacks...

Bull Strength (DC 17): 31
Summon Monster III (DC 18): 23

Have we sold any of this and split the proceeds? We really should.

Zeoll has enough with his cash on hand without this loot to complete his shopping, though it puts him close to broke.

Also, Zeoll is paying 500 to help pay for current costs, auction fees, etc etc.

My preference is to see Alistair first. Although I want to check on the shop, I see no specific reason to do so. As far as the morgue, I figured I would need Alistair's political sway to cut through the red tape to keep Heather's body preserved and to gain custody of her Holy Symbol.

Deciding upon a course of action, the group heads out for Alistairs. It's not long before they reach the familiar home. With no signs of suspicious nature, the knock is made on his door and shortly he opens it, "Ah, hello and what brings you to my home? Please come in." Not much has changed inside Alistairs home, in fact you would say it has reverted to a more of a bachelor's pad--Sanji is no where in sight and is not mentioned as the group enlists Alistars help to reach Heranmar as quick as possible.

"Heranmar, you don't say. I haven't been there in years, but I think I can get you there, just a moment." Going to a nearby armoire, Alistair opens it up to reveal several cloaks and other apparel inside, along with a few staves. Grabbing one and looking at it closely, he closes the armoire and comes back to the group. "Okay, get set, let's go!"

In a sudden burst of light, the entire group is teleported far and away in an instant. The sudden feeling of falling is uncomfortable at best, but is soon replaced by the shock of cold water enveloping everyone--it would seem the old man wasn't as familiar with the area as he thought.

Swimming and climbing out of the lake, the group dries itself off on the pebbly shore of the large lake. Off in the distance is the Heranmar Inn on the outskirts of the town walls. It looks to be a fortified inn, perhaps to ward off raiders and such and is approximately a half hour walk. "Well, good luck Iron Adventurers, I'll see ya around." Alistair taps his staff on the ground and he's gone.

Zeoll mentally sifts through his vast trove of bardic lore as he wrings the water out of his tail tuft, and is grateful that at least the group did not end up in the ocean.

Know Geography 23.

"Well, Herranmarr is wherre the explorratorry grroup of New Elenna adventurrerrs called "The Southerrn Lights" came ashorre. It is the prrime porrt and city of the Gateway Downs, although of courrse, comparred with Hook City, it is a muddy hovel."

"It is also wherre the Chaos Bell was firrst rrung afterr being silent forr many yearrs, in a deserrted chapel overr that-a-ways, if I rrecall the storry rright. That ringing was an omen, some say, of the Grreat Migrration that followed some yearrs afterr that. Orr maybe it was an omen of the Yearr of Ascension, when the gates to the Nightmarre Shadowlands opened on the Gateway Downs towns of Wane and Abandon and Thrreshold, of which only Thrreshhold was not pulled into oblivion."

"The people herre honorr the Thrree Crrones especially, as they do all overr the South, and the Gods of the Wold and the Gods of Testing are considerred outsiderrs."

"The inn we seek, I think, is overr that-a-ways." The liontaur points.

While still on the shore of the lake, Zeoll casts several spells. He casts Call Animal, seeking an eagle, a hawk, or a songbird; as well as a wolf, a bear, or a mountain lion. Failing that, he seeks a dire weasel, a dire rat, or a lion or tiger. Since Call Animal is a cantrip to the Cradled Seer, he can just keep trying.

When he gets a bird and a hunter, he casts Speak with Animals to greet these beasts. And he casts Charm Animal on his new (hopefully) friends. The save DC is 19. Speak with Animals and Charm Animal are also both cantrips for Zeoll, so he can keep on trying.

Handle Animal checks to get his new friends to heel and follow: 27 and 25.

About ten minutes travel time from the inn, Zeoll casts a Divination, asking for advice on finding out more in this area about Heather's killer. Divination roll ... needs a 74 or less ... a 53.

When the group is near to the inn, say a minute away, Zeoll casts Heroism and Honeyed Tongue on himself.

Cradled spells prepped:

He gives a nod towards the Inn with the others and turns to give his thanks to the Hook City mage that he just met, but by that time he's already gone.

"To the Inn then?" And he'll travel with the group on the way, watching around them as he thinks back to what he knows about the town.

The sudden shock of the cold water causes the taur to fear the worst, but it only takes a moment for him to realize that Alistair's spell had landed the group smack dab in the center of a lake. The cleric is somewhat slowed by his armor and the fact that hooves are not as effective for swimming as flat feet, but he never the less manages to make steady progress to the shore. As he swims he cannot help but think about how much his confidence in Alistair had dropped over the last month and a half. When they first met he thought Alistair to be almost all knowing and all powerful, but the unexpected bath helped Bosk to better see the limitations of the wizard.

Drying off, he shows no anger and expresses his sincere gratitude to the Magistrate, Thank you once again for assisting us, I shudder to think what ghastly events might have occurred in our absence if we had to walk all this distance.

As Zeoll relates what he knows of the ares Bosk makes a mental note not to bring up the topic of religion with the locals, for fear it will impede their investigation, and makes sure the cowl of his cloak covers the Eye of Gargul on his forehead. Although not particularly knowledgeable of the area, the cleric does what he can to recall anything he may have heard about past events that had taken place in the area and any religious facts dealing with the Edge that could have possible tie to Heather and this area.

Landing in the water was a bit of a surprise, but getting wet was probably better than falling from half a mile.
Zane gets himself to shore without too much trouble, he lingers to see if anyone needs help with getting ashore. (swim 23)
Once ashore he shrugs off his haversack and then peels his robe off. Twisting it he squeezes out most of the water and then puts it back on. While it was off the tattoo on his back was clearly seen. It covers his entire back, it's a scene of stormy seas, with dark clouds and lightning, in the distance is a bronze dragon that appears to be getting closer to the viewer. Those that have seen the tattoo before, swear that the dragon seems to be getting larger, because it looked smaller and further off in the distance the last time you saw it.
Once he's redressed he'll also use prestidigitation to help get the rest of the water out.

The sky overhead booms with thunder as an approaching storm rapidly heads toward the group. It's heading inland from the sea and is already pelting the city with unrelenting rain--it's more than possible that by the time you reach the Heranmar Inn, which is located at the junction of the North and Eastern road, you will be experiencing some severe weather and visibility will be hampered.

Those with some knowledge of the place, remember hearing that THE Inn of Heranmar was inside the city gates, but this Inn in question, is well outside it. Those with a sharp eye will also notice there are no lights on in or outside the Inn and looks to be abandoned.

Trap checks only cover a 10' area you are in I believe, so you need to be specific about where you are searching.

Perception checks -- Jim C
Thursday May 17th, 2012 2:11:46 AM

As per the rules:

Most Perception checks are reactive, made in response to observable stimulus. Intentionally searching for stimulus is a move action.

So if nothing changes, no lights come on, no one screams, etc... there isn't a need for perception checks unless you are looking for something specific that I didn't describe.

If you are intentionally looking for something, like a hidden trap, it's a move action.

Therefore, if you're going to spend the whole mile walking to the inn looking for traps, then it'll double your time and I will privately make a perception roll for you if you indicate you are doing so, so you don't have to make 500 rolls or some other crazy number of rolls.

So, if you are searching for traps, please indicate the area you would like to search, whether it's a mile long, half a mile, 100 ft from the inn, the inn's gate, door, etc...

And post it in a private post and I'll give you the results just in case you don't want to share with the rest, or something dreadful has happened to you.

I think if we do it this way, it will streamline the checks and I'll actually get to answer most of them and you can roleplay the results to the rest.

Throwing caution to the wind, Yondrim sets out at a fast pace and covers the distance between the group and the Inn in short time. The rest of the group follows along and arrive as the centaur yells out to any that would be in the Inn at its front door--having moved past the open gate of the fortified wall that surrounded said inn.

As he waits for a response, Beri takes in the surroundings and notices this area is really overgrown--probably hasn't been managed in decades, and there is some graffiti on the inside of the walls, etc. probably from damn teenagers and their ilk.

It is now raining and Restlin's magical umbrella cannot keep up with the downpour. The delapitated porch Yondrim has a hoof on seems to be ready to buckle under his weight at any moment and the closed shutters on the windows begin to lightly rattle as the wind picks up.

Off to the Northwest is the town of Heranmar, perhaps another half hour walk.

Bosk walks up behind Yondrim and survey's the porch. Lets keep our finger's crossed. There is a good chance that the wood here is weaker since it has been exposed to the elements. Perhaps the inside is in better condition and can support our weight, if not, we might be in for a shower to follower our unexpected bath.

The cleric waits to see if Zeoll or any of the others can determine if it is safe to enter and if anyone is inside.

"Yondrin, come with me and let's circle this place. Might as well know what it looks like all around on the outside before we go in."

Alexi then starts to circle the place. As a precaution, he draws his sword and has shield ready.

Heranmar Inn -- Jim C
Friday May 18th, 2012 12:46:03 PM

As Beri checks out the front door--the porch ominously creaking as he approaches his search area, Alexi takes off to check out the rest of the exterior of the Inn. What the man finds is a stable around back, boarded up, but there are countless holes and other boarded up windows, loft gate, that make the Inn both secure, but insecure at the same time. There are holes in the roof but no breaches in the walls, inside or outer, that would let a man walk into the building.

In front, done with his examination, Beri finds that the door lock is locked, but has been broken into many, many years previous. The only thing that keeps the door in place is the jamb is not level due to age and has wedged the door in place--a good shove would open it. He is also quite certain there are no traps that he has found.

If you're saying you don't know which knowledge skill is applicable, you choose and make the roll and it counts only towards that specific skill. If you've chosen the incorrect knowledge skill, then you'll know from your result and will have to choose and roll again if you want to.

Innkeeper -- Jim C
Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 9:16:27 PM

Politely pushing Restlin aside, Zeoll enters the Inn and luckily for him, the floor does not collapse, "Ah, welcome master Taur! It's been a long time since one of your kind has entered my abode. Please, how may I help you."

Knowing a bit about the undead, Zeoll, even in this dim light, can determine the innkeeper is in fact a Revenant--albeit, a very polite and courteous one.

ooc: am I reading the map correctly in that the doorways to the two other rooms are open so we could see through them (I am guessing this since they open portals and not the brown doors the others are). If so, can Zeoll see anything?

DM Jim: I've already described what he can see. If he wishes to turn his attention away from the Revenant and inspect the other rooms, he's welcome to do so :)

OOC: If we're in combat, then Zeoll has only a standard action. But he's not starting any fight!

Zeoll puts his honeyed tongue to work, trying to communicate with the undead creature.

"My good sirr," he say, "Please forrgive my clumsy entrrance. We arre sorrry to botherr you, and we grreatly apprreciate yourr offerr of help. We arre come seeking inforrmation about a certain perrson, one Heatherr Brroderry, a Kon of The Edge, who has been fouly murrderred in Hook City. We have come seeking vengence on the one who killed herr."

Zeoll thinks he has heard of these undead, motivated like ghosts by the desire for revenge. Maybe that will help the thing aid them.

If there is enough time for diplomacy (rolling twice at +22, picking the best roll): a 28.

Zeoll (HP49 of 49, AC22, CMD17)
Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 11:03:07 PM

Also, not sure why my header says 22 hp of 49, seeing as this is the first encounter of a new day! Adjusting back to max.

Dm Jim: It says 22 of 49 because no one bothered to state they were doing any healing. It does not go without saying that you're going to use spells, when you're low on spells, to heal yourself. So in the future, if you don't state you're using spells to heal yourself, it just doesn't happen except naturally--and one day is not enough to heal 27hp naturally.

Restlin continues to grow tired of this. He grips Vera tightly and will physically stop the adventurers from moving forward if he's able. If this thing makes any move towards them or performs any hostile action, it's getting a fireball right in it's face...or off in the corner. He'll try to make sure Zeoll isn't caught in the blast.

Zeoll (HP29 of 49, AC22, CMD17)
Thursday May 24th, 2012 10:29:07 AM

Okay, fair enough, Jim. So can Zeoll have a night's natural healing? That's +7 hp. bringing him to 29.

Also, any chance Zeoll can use his new wand of CLW retroactively?

DM Jim: Not a problem with it this time since the walk to the inn was fairly long and would have brought out all the aches and pains of recent wounds. If you want to cast spells instead of using the wand, you may do so, but they would count against your allotment for this game day.

Heranmar Inn -- Round 0.1 -- Jim C
Thursday May 24th, 2012 1:23:53 PM

"Heather? My poor sweet bonnie Heather is dead?" Anguish washed over the innkeepers face as he lowered his gaze and closed his eyes--his hands rising and resting on the surface of the desk; his clawed fingers grasping and digging into the top of it. "How did she die?" His gaze immediately rose to match Zeolls'--the Taur could now see how milky white the Revenants eyes were as he asked determinedly, "Was it Lowd? Did Lowd have anything to do with this?"

Keeping anyone else from trying to enter the Inn, Restlin and the rest outside bared the abuse of whippings winds and rain that seemed to be falling sideways.

Zeoll explains the circumstances surrounding Heather's death.

"She was brrutally assassinated," the liontaur says bluntly. "If you want the details, I will prrovide them, but please suffice it to say she did not have an easy death."

He tells the undead thing all that he knows about the murderer. "We do not know much about the killerr," Zeoll says, "but the powerr of the Edge that she grranted to us to use could not rreach herr." Zeoll tries to soften the blow, picking words that he judges will sit best without being false.

He talks about the weird non-detection zones that stop all attempts to detect magic. He briefly describes the bloody scene at the girl's school. He mentions the bead and the bead shop, which led to the auction, which gained the picture which brought them here. He mentions the ghosts' report of the evil-doer's appearance and disappearance into a hole. He talks about the evil-doer's evident ability to fly unseen and unheard.

Honestly, he'll tell it all.

Outside, Zane keeps a careful eye out when he see's something--a cloak? Whipping in the wind atop the roof, then it disappears over the roofline and is out of sight. It could just be the minotaurs imagination.

As Yondrim continues to cower outside, his lovely pelt--uhh, fur, hide, what have you, becoming all matted down, Zeoll moves to the far wall (you cannot move to K12 as that is upstairs)

Letting the rest know he saw something, Zane moves to the west end of the inn and looks up at the roof to see a large minotaur in black armor and cloak looking down from the roofline about 40' up to the north.

Running up, Bosk squeezes into the cramped hallway--obviously this building was not made to cater to his kind, and see's the innkeeper at the end the hallway listening at one of the guest room doors.

Restlin is right behind Bosk, but can't see anything because the minotaur is in his way.

Unable to make it past Bosk, Beri hangs out in the back--the peculiar scent of the herb, rosemary, hangs in the air.

Urging Yondrim to follow--which he does not immediately do, Alexi joins Zane at the corner of the building, but see's nothing but whipping winds and maybe a cat flying through the air.

Meanwhile inside the innkeeper throws open the door to the room he was listening at and is about to say something when he violently receives an axe blade to his chest. Whoever attacked him is unknown and out of reach of Bosk's weapon.

Outside, through the pouring rain, another minotaur(#1) appears on the roof's edge and jumps down. Just before he hits, he slows remarkably and lands softly. Even at this range, Alexi can make him out. He is dressed in black chain armor and wields a large battle axe.

Up top, Zane see's the roof minotaur(#2) pulling out a bow.
