Meet Wilfred Emersten, Stinger

DM Rob - "Never shall we die..."  d20+7=19 ; d20+7=15 ; d20+13=28 ;
Friday March 13th, 2015 5:37:49 AM

Aexana and Terser continue the calm discussions with Eric. With Aex now referring to him by name, and not seeing himself in too much danger, he continues to keep talking.

"Um, I'm not sure to be honest with you. He came in and was talking to us, and yeah, we got swept up in what he was saying. Not sure if it was magical or just mob mentality. You know how crazy things can get sometimes"

"Er, Billoopl? What's a Billoopl? Never heard of that before?

So .. er .. what are you going to do with me?"

Terser determines that those killed were justifiable - even if they were enchanted. Although, restitution might be considered.

Magana has heard enough. These men fought her on even ground, regardless of their motives or state of mind. If they were weak willed enough to be enchanted, let Gargul sort things out?

She storms off with Coer and Jozhur to go check on the state of the Lionfish.

=========================

In the adjoining room, Zeoll puts his plan into action. This incessant humming and whistling is very suspicious. Zeoll deduces the man may be more likely to speak if others he might deem hostile weren't about.

With that, he writes a note and beckons Yel'kno to make an announcement a leave the room.

Assuming that is done...

Now all alone with the man, Zeoll continues with his plan. He tries to Charm the man again, but the rogues defences are too strong.

Zeoll tries yet again, and this time he finds he is able to magically convince the man that he is friendly! (Will Saves: 19=Pass. 15=Fail. No +5 Save bonus to the man as with Zeoll's bluff, the man couldn't deduce whether Zeoll was friend or foe.)

With the sweet success of a well cast spell, Zeoll then fumbles about to take the gag out of the man's mouth. He also makes up an excuse that his frail hands just cannot manage to remove the blindfold or untie the mans ropes.

Zeoll can see the man smile. He maintains his relaxed composure, and then starts fiddling with the ropes behind his back "Never fear. I shall have these ropes off in but a moment. Then I shall set to untying your bonds as well, friend" (Escape artist check vs DC31: 24=Fail. DC is based on Terser's CMB, since he was the one who tied him)

As he works his bindings, the man graciously enlightens Zeoll on his tale...

"Very well then. Where shall I begin? I suppose like many a great epics, I should begin at the beginning. Where was I? Ah yes. I received a letter asking that I come to Bonetown and enquire upon the goings on of the crew of a vessel known as "The Lionfish". Er, that would be these chaps. It was suggested that if I was to discover some wrong-doings that I use my influence to try and see them get their just desserts.

You see, I have sworn an oath. I will only target those who deserve it. A person or group who has injured or tormented others, is offensively arrogant, is a thief, or bully. And whilst I have also sworn to only spread the truth, a little exaggeration and flair is allowed after all.

I suppose this is where I answer the question you asked about my affiliations. I have only one: the goddess Jancassis. She guides my tongue to deliver righteous vengeance on wrongdoers."

Zeoll has heard of such men. In the Wold, they are known as "Stingers".

=========================

Coer, Jozhur and Magana begin the small trek from the house back to the docks.

They are given no trouble along the way ... so far. Rogues and ruffians, women and children, the poor and the average-to-do - the streets of Bonetown carry all manner of people.

(OOC: I'll assume you reach the Lionfish in the next post to keep things moving. Just have to try and keep it even with the others performing smaller actions simultaneously)

With Eric seemingly absolved of his crimes, Terser moves on to the other man that was using his magic or at least his magic seeming words to rouse the other men against him and his companions.

You should make this easy on yourself. Did someone put you up to attacking the crew of the Lionfish? Or was it your own misguided interpretation of your rights to a nonexistent treasure that made you undertake such a foolhardy course of action?

Coer, Jozhur and Magana make it to the Lionfish without incident. The docks are especially quiet today. No ships are raising sail or anchor, and no new ships are entering the harbor. Far off in the distance, the Shipping Guild vessels still are anchored at the entrance to the harbor.

Jozhur notices Brother Lansel timidly approaching. The priest looks completely uninjured; the only damage may be to his pride. "Have those ruffians gone?" he asks, hopefully. Jozhur notices Lansel's eyes move to look at Magana's flail, and stare at the blood that still stains it.

-------------------------

Aex concludes her interview of Eric, asking who was the ringleader. Eric looks confused as he responds "Why, that fella you took to the next room of course". He indicates the direction of the whistling man.

-------------------------

Terser has had enough waiting and goes to interrogate the ring-leader for himself. He finds Zeoll seated near the man, and the man blindfolded and tied to a chair.

"Nonexistant treasure? Is that what they told you? Ask them if they profited from finding Annoir. I'll wait" He sits comfortably in his chair and smiles.

OOC: Ouch! Poor posting week last week guys. Let's try and turn that around. We had 4 consecutive perfect weeks not long ago. We can easily get back to that

"Ahoy the watch!" Magana calls out as she boards the ship to make sure all is well.

Aex stares blank at Eric... How could she be this stupid!? She has to warn the others! That man's clearly a spellweaver adept in putting people under a command or charm spells! And he's in there with Zeoll and Terser!!

"Eric, get out of here and go home. Know that we aint the bad guys!"

Then the Gnome enters the room with Zeoll.
Looking at Terser, and not trying to blow Zeoll's cover she sneers at Terser (hoping he will not look to weird at her).

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC24 - HP 40 of 51)
Monday March 16th, 2015 7:42:13 PM

Zeoll sighs. He had expected a true enemy, one dealing in lies and deceit in order to undermine the Lionfishers. But instead he faces an enemy who is merely misguided.

He organizes his thoughts. He stops speaking in a whisper. He loosens the man's blindfold.

"I believe you, my frriend, and I hope we will be frriends. And because I believe you, I must now tell you the complete and utterr trruth. I ask only that you hearr me out entirrely."

First, the old liontaur calls his friends over to listen to what he has to say.

"This man is a Stingerr of Jancassis. He is sworrn to use his skills only against those who arre wrrongdoerrs. Ourr job now is to rreveal to him the trruth that we arre in fact NOT villains, and that we arre inapprroprriate tarrgets forr his divine irre."

Zeoll introduces himself and his friends. He asks the Stinger's name.

"You are mistaken, my frriend. Firrst, underrstand that I have charrmed you, so you may view what I say as if frrom a frriend. I will lift the charrm in a moment and then you will want to rreevaluate what you arre about to hearr."

"Ourr grroup considerr ourrselves to be herroes, and we trry to stop evildoerrs. We arre, in fact, on the same side. I hope you will hearr ourr storry and see the trruth."

Zeoll takes an hour to tell the entire story of the group.

"That tale was long, and thank you forr listening. In a moment I will rrelease you frrom the charrm and yourr bonds. But firrst I want you to know that I am not lying in any way. I urge you to use whateverr magic you have to confirrm my worrds. In addition, I now swearr this oath:"

"I, Zeoll, once of Liontaurr Island, now of the entirre Wold, do swearr by the memorry of my old allies, including Captain Brrrrahmah of the Chosen and RRestlin the Irron Adventurrerr, as well as by the gods I have met in my long life -- Domi, Garrgul, Marrteaus, and Ga'al -- as well as those I now honorr -- King Eberryon, Lady Maab, and sleeping Jantierrrri -- all to witness this oath, which should I brreak, may my tongue fall out of my mouth and my head find rrest neverr again! I swearr by this oath that the tale I have told you since rremoving yourr blindfold has been trrue without embellishment, and that I shall speak only the trruth to you, to the verry best of my ability, orr speak nothing to you, but neverr speak lies to you, all the days of life."

Then Zeoll removes the charm, unties the bonds, and tells the man that he will answer any question he may want answered.

Hopefully this wasn't a trap... (Perception: 31)

DM Rob - An eloquent discussion
Tuesday March 17th, 2015 6:13:14 AM

Jozhur, Coer and Magana edge closer to the Lionfish.

Magana calls out to the watch. It takes a moment, but a call from Tula returns. She has stayed with the first shift whilst the majority of the crew enjoy some R&R.

Jozhur is a little concerned this may just be a trap.

Coer lets her know about the rumours being spread, and to be on guard. Just in case.

"All quiet here, Cap'n. Was just going to join Pinny for a game of cards, it's that quiet. But we'll stay alert"

It would appear the threat to the Lionfish was just a bluff. For now, at least.

With no further signs of danger, the trio have plenty of time to return back to Portside house, as Zeoll prepares to deliver a length talk.

---------------------------

Aex comes to the sudden realisation that they have an opposing spell caster in their midst. What's more, he has been performing right in front of them! Who knows what mischief he may already have been causing?! She hurriedly frees Eric and then sets to warn the others.

Brother Engev helps Eric from the chair, and escorts the man to his potion shop to treat any remaining wounds.

Aex storms in to the interrogation room and finds Terser questioning the blindfolded man.

Zeoll reveals to all that the man claims to be a Stinger. Stingers are sworn to deliver what they consider justice (or what others may rightfully call 'vengeance') to wrongdoers. The task it would seem is to convince him that the party are truly good.

Zeoll goes to great lengths to explain the party viewpoint on its history. Indeed, he spends a good hour telling the tale.

The Stinger nods along, weighing each of Zeoll's words carefully and watching the faces of the party to gauge reactions.

When Zeoll finishes, he deftly unties the bonds restraining the man. The Stinger puts his thumb to his chin in contemplation. It takes a moment for him to consider all that he has heard.

"As always, the story has two sides.

You did not discover any treasure horde belonging to Annoir, yet you walked away with more than 30,000 gold pieces worth of items. Easy to see how others might perceive this as a treasure horde. Still, as the dwarf alludes, they were hard won gains rather than a simple chest full of gold.

You say you captured Annoir and delivered him unto Centaur justice. His deeds on Centaur Isle were arguably more grave than here in Bonetown, and thus, I concur that they had first right at vengeance. I would have acted much the same.

You say you are good, yet you tell me of many you have slain. You rightfully say that on many occasion you were attacked first. But this very day three men lay dead on your doorstep. Were they evil of heart? Was one the man who runs a nearby food kitchen for the hungry? You shouldn't ask me what I would have done. As a follower of the almighty Jancassis, then I would argue that vengeance delivered swiftly was the only option.

You say you are humble and noble of deed, yet this very day I witnessed you harass a simple ship pilot for daring to help you navigate the harbor. Whilst the deed was only done by one, none of you stepped up to defend the man. Is that what your 'Domi' would have done?"
the stinger raises his eyebrows as he questions Zeoll

"I cannot tell you who put me on your trail as I honestly do not know. I simply received a letter. But I will say this, I will continue to spread words of your deeds - good or bad. If you should follow the path of darkness then you should expect word of that to spread, as is my duty. Then again, if you save a fair maiden, then expect others - many others - to hear words of the worthy feat. You may consider that fair reparation for any wrongdoing you may believe I have committed.

I cannot see motives only actions. And it will be those actions I speak of to others. I promise no more and no less."

It would seem as if the party now have a Public Relations officer. Surely someone to spread word of the deeds of the Lionfish can only be a good thing?

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51)  d6=3 d6=4 d6=5 d6=3 d6=1 d6=1 d6=1 d6=2 d6=3 d6=6 d6=6 d6=6

Zeoll sighs again. He's doing a lot of that lately, he realizes. Maybe it comes with getting old.

Zeoll answers the man's question about what Domi would have done. "Well, I no longerr follow Domi, having failed him at the grreat task he set me. And to be honest, I have failed often in my life. Perrhaps I failed to defend the harrborr worrkerr as well. But I will continue to strrive to do betterr, and to live up to my standarrds, so judge me, if you will, and I can ask forr no morre."

Again, he asks for the Stinger's name. He makes sure that all the Stinger's gear -- and that of any defeated enemies -- is returned.

"As forr the thrree men killed today, unjustly, perrhaps, then I beg of you a boon. Help me to find the families of these men. Herre is a headband of wisdom, an amulet of naturral arrmorr, and a rring of prrotection. One each to the families of these men may perrhaps satisfy a rrough forrm of justice forr theirr loss."

Zeoll is happy to hand the items to the man, if he will promise to see that they get to the families, or the old liontaur will go with him or at his direction to do the job himself. And to deliver the bodies of the fallen.

"We must leave, howeverr, on a mission in serrvice to Lorrd Garrgul himself, to trravel to his temple in Rrum on the rrising tide. So let us finish this business quickly, and we will trrust in yourr sacrred duty to see justice serrved."

Finally, Zeoll channels energy to heal those who may still be wounded. 12 with one channel, 8 with another, and then if needed, 18 with the third.

OOC: Sheet updated to track the loss of three items and tanglefoot bag plus the gain of a hero point.

Tuesday March 17th, 2015 5:40:59 PM

We cannot ask for fairer treatment than you propose. We did not use lethal force until the men had already shed much of this old 'taur's blood, and that of our other companions, and we let those that fled go without seeking vengeance. Still, those that died could have been spared, were we better able to coordinate between ourselves, and this will be remedied in the future. All that I would ask is that you confirm any letters you receive before spreading the news. Ask us if you doubt anything, we will not hide our actions. But we must avoid another situation such as happened today.

To Zeoll, he offers a different suggestion on how to compensate the families for their losses. I don't know what the families would do with those items, and they may even be insulted by the offer. Gold is a more useful gift, and less likely to be looked down upon. Perhaps we can sell these items, or pool some gold between us instead.

Magana again shakes her head. She knows she has done no evil and wonders if this Stinger's purpose is to sow the seeds of doubt to weaken her comrades. Still, he is not presenting a clear threat, which is the only kind she is good at, so she lets wiser heads make the decisions.

Jozhur looks at slick haired with a bit of pity when he sees Zeoll is apparently trying to talk him to death.

Jozhur nods when slick hair responds. "Your proposal is fair. Just maybe do a little fact finding before your spread rumors. I don't appreciate being slandered."

"As for the slain, I don't believe we owe them anything. This man led them to our door step and worked them into a frenzy. Their blood is on his hands. Still, I would give him some gold, he can distribute it and apologize to their families."

DM Rob - An eloquent discussion
Wednesday March 18th, 2015 5:16:46 AM

The party are somewhat divided on what they have heard and witnessed.

Zeoll and Terser find the man's offer fair. What's more, the duo wish to find out more about the men who died today, and look to compensate their families in some way.

Aex is wary. This man is obviously a skilled orator, and a bard to boot. He could well have enchanted the entire room while she was gone. If only she could prove he was up to no good.

Coer goes to perhaps the heart of the matter - who would want to set a Stinger upon the party? Could it be a specific individual, or a wider organisation?

Magana and Jozhur aren't overly happy with how things have gone. Neither believe that have committed an 'evil' act. Jozhur goes so far as to accuse the Stinger of slandering the groups name.

"Slander is the spreading of untruths. I am committed to spreading only the truth. Everything I have said about you is based on fact. As I said, intentions cannot be seen or known, only outcomes. You may have had your reasons for killing the remaining souls of Gullport, or for bullying the ship pilot, or for being too almighty to sign a simple harbor log. Your reasons and intentions remain yours. I talk only of actions and consequences. If you don't want me to talk of certain actions, don't do them.

But I'm not unreasonable. The door swings both ways. I won't just talk of the questionable things you do. Do some good and I'll spread the word of that too.

As for my hands - I believe my hands are perfectly clean. I may have led men to your doorstop this day, but it was your group that provoked a fight rather than discuss things, your group that killed people this day, and your group that sought to strike men in the back as they fled. My hands are clean."
He smiles very smugly to Jozhur. "If gold will ease your conscience, then I will spread it"

The Stinger gestures to the door "Are we done here?"

Wednesday March 18th, 2015 9:10:11 AM

Jozhur sighs heavily, the man is just not going to see their side of this. "Bringing a small mob to someone's doorstep and threatening to burn down their house isn't exactly a great way to try to start a conversation. Next time just knock on the front door please, minus the angry mob."

"I suppose we will have to consider how our actions are perceived, though perception depends so heavily on where things are viewed from."

Jozhur gestures towards the front door, "You may leave anytime. Farewell."

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51)
Wednesday March 18th, 2015 11:20:05 AM

Zeoll says that each of his items can be sold for about 1,000 gold to benefit the familes of the dead. "And it is not a matterr of easing my conscience, but of doing what is rright."

"I have one final question forr you, Stingerr of Jancassis. What is yourr name? Orr if you will not say it, then why not?"

The old liontaur makes sure he gets a good smell of this man, so that he will know him if ever they meet in the future.

"Farre thee well, then, and be ye fairr!"

After the man leaves, Zeoll turns to the minotaur monk. "Captain Coerr, when do we sail forr Rrum? Lorrd Garrgul awaits."

If no one has done so, he sees to the delivery of the dead to their families, and of the weregeld as well, if the Stinger is not aiding in that.

Terser (Warren G) [22/13/19 -- CMD 24 -- HP 95/95] (25% chance no crit)
Wednesday March 18th, 2015 5:46:41 PM

I have to disagree with you sir - we provoked no one, only defended ourselves after the mob attacked, despite attempts to get them to leave peaceably. It is unfortunate that people died and perhaps it would be better to seek raising them rather than try to compensate their families. But it is done, and we can only seek to be better in the future.

Terser agrees that the Stinger is free to leave, and will hopefully be wiser in his methods in the future. He knows that in his own past, he has made mistakes that carried consequences for himself and his companions, so who is he to judge this man? He can only hope to lead him in a better direction.

Magana (Craig) [HP 92 of 92] [DR 1/-]
Wednesday March 18th, 2015 6:15:39 PM

The smug, self righteous attitude of this man erases any thought of diplomacy Magana may have had.

"Done here? Oh no. I'll have my say. You say *we* provoked a fight rather than talk? I remember the situation much differently apparently. Your men had seized Brother Lansel, and demanded that we 'Come out or we burn you down along with yer place!' Those are hardly the actions of someone wanting to talk things out reasonably. You are either purposely being deception, are have had some sort of head injury, and I don't see a bandage.

"Take yourself away from here, scoundrel. I hear no 'truth' coming from your mouth, just self serving revisionist history. Your actions are just as suspect in my eyes as ours are in yours.

Her final words come out as a frustrated roar. "Begone, I say! The next time you confront me had better be with open hands and honeyed words if you want reasonable discourse!"

DM Rob - Words are his weapons
Thursday March 19th, 2015 5:09:21 AM

"My name? But of course. Wilfred Emersten, Stinger and Agent of the Almighty Jancassis" the Stinger grins and clasps his hands before himself.

Wilfred obviously views deeds and actions very plainly.

Jozhur sees the futility in trying to change Wilfred's perception with words, content to "agree to disagree".
Terser tries to tactfully disagree with the perception of the battle, though concedes deaths may have been avoided.
Magana has heard enough. What would be considered letting rip by others, is but Magana acting with restraint. She takes aim at the Stinger, doubting whether any truth at all has come from his lips.

All he does is smile is response.

Sense Motive DC20 Highlight to display spoiler: {The smug grin on the stinger does little to hide his satisfaction. Perhaps he has provoked the response he wanted? Perhaps he feels even further justified with his views? Either way, questioning the honesty of a Stinger could have unfortunate repercussions.}

Aex is concerned for Zeoll. First the Stinger comes in here, next thing Zeoll looks like a prisoner himself and everyone is talking about handing over loot and letting the guy walk out the door! She gives Magana an elbow, whilst carefully eyeing Zeoll.

Zeoll tries to calm Aex's fears. But is it really Zeoll, or is he being manipulated? Is there any way to tell? Aex's instinct is that Zeoll is not trying to hide anything from her. Indeed, Zeoll welcomes Aex to question him at any time. Whether it was his intention or not, the Stinger is making Aex doubt even her friends at the moment. Though if Zeoll is enchanted, would he technically still be her friend?

Coer sees wisdom in not engaging the Stinger in a battle of words. They are masters of the tongue, who could sew seeds of distrust into any conversation, and can twist things to suit their own needs. Words are his weapons. The only true way to beat him is not to play his game.

With the blessing of the party ("good riddance" is a blessing, right?), the Stinger departs Portside House. Even though he and his cohorts were defeated on this very doorstep, he still walks with a spring in his stride.

Zeoll and Coer are in agreement that the sooner the party fulfill their oath and reach Rum, the better. All that is between them now is a good nights sleep and a short sea voyage.

Everyone receives 8,000xp and 1 hero point !

OOC:

- Excellent roleplaying with the Stinger, friends! You know as well as we, that the party name doesn't amount for much in Bonetown since the Annoir event. What better way to improve things than to have a Stinger spread word of your deeds throughout the town! Expect your actions from now on to spread very quickly thoughout the town - whether good or bad.

- Please advise who is taking what room of Portside House. Link to the floor plan can be found: here

- Please finish any Catacombs shopping you need to asap

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51)  d20+9=22

Sense Motive check: 22

After doing right by the dead, Zeoll returns for the evening meal and then for some relaxation with his friends.

The old liontaur tells the remarkable tale of how the Fae King woke up after being asleep for several ages past. He tried to conquer the entire Wold -- talk about waking up grumpy! -- but in the end he was defeated. His conquerers were the adventuring heroes of the Wold, and they showed him mercy. Now he has made peace, and he is working with those who fought him, for the betterment of all.

The moral of the story, of course, is that sometimes victory looks like defeat at first, and that those who fight can end up being allies. The corellation to today's events is left to the listeners to deduce.

Anyone who listens through to the end of Zeoll's story receives a +2 divine bonus to their next saving throw. OOC: This is the Cradled "Spread the Word" ability.

Also OOC: Sheet updated, thanks kindly DM Rob!

Magana responds privately to Aexana. "Zeoll has always had some odd notions of morality. I can never tell if he is joking, senile, or purposefully misleading someone. I also know nothing about wizardry. If you tell me he is endangering us, I will *try* to disable him, but he's a wily old bugger. Otherwise...?" she shrugs.

Magana finds Zeoll's tale entertaining, but it ultimately makes her seek her bed. She offers Aexana a place in her room. "Help yourself to any spot in my room if you like. Top of the stairs on the left. There may be other rooms open, however. Make yourself at home."

how long before that +2 expires?

Terser is happy to sleep wherever there is a spare bed. His shopping is done, and despite not being in this town for long, he is ready to head out.

Aex appreciates Magana's offer to sharing a room and thankfully accepts.

'Senile... Hmmm... She is rather old... Could make sense.

Coer is sure to tell the brothers that they depart in the evening and leaves 100gp with Brother Engev.

"yarr, Buy a stronger door" he instructs before heading up to his room. He does not trust the citizens of BOnetown and enemies are watching.

~~~
On a phone, can't see map of house. Coer will claim the biggest empty room :)
Jozhur looks relieved when the stinger departs. He looks at Magana and shrugs, "I wanted to put a dagger in his throat just to shut him up."
With that, he heads upstairs and settles into his room.
Room 6 works fine for Jozhur
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51)
Friday March 20th, 2015 5:48:53 PM
Zeoll is ready to set sail! His purchases are made, his possessions are battened down (less a few trinkets left for the families of the dead), and he is happy to be sailing under the sky and above the waves. Is there any better life than the life on the seas and shores of the Wold? The old liontaur has been around a bit ... to the Edge of the Wold, to the deeps of the Culverwood, to the Southern Continent.
Hey! That reminds him. When he made his oath to all the gods he has met, he forgot the Crones of the Southern Continent! Gosh darn it! He thinks about making some notes. Of course, he only learned to read and write later in life ... maybe just in time, since his memory seems to be failing him.
Anyway, he ponders the shore and the oceans, and thinks that maybe they merit further study.
[OOC: Setting up Zeoll to take the Woldian Natural Spell Specialization feat next level, maybe ... focused on the biome of the lives aquatic and littoral.
OOC: Folks, DM Shawn is working on the next post, and we're also looking to intro our newest player! We humbly beg your patience for the next few days to allow all this to happen. Then it will be full speed ahead!
And, you know, not meaning to pressure you guys, but ah, did you plan to ID and perhaps use/sell some of the loot from that last battle? :)
OOC: I'm pretty sure we handed back ALL the loot from the last battle! On March 17 I posted: "Again, he asks for the Stinger's name. He makes sure that all the Stinger's gear -- and that of any defeated enemies -- is returned." No one contradicted me. If we were wrong to kill those folks, if it was all just a misunderstanding, then surely we would be wrong to rob them. Zeoll would certainly not hand each of the families of the dead a magic item as a weregeld and then turn around and sell/keep the possessions of the dead.
No loot, friends, sorry, or you'll have to fight me for it! View it as a down payment on restoring our reputations.
=====
The question of where to sleep also arises ... Zeoll's preference, always, is to sleep under the open sky. Back in Hook City, he slept in a rooftop garden atop the party tower. The only problem is that he does not trust the locals not to stab him in the back if he sleeps out of doors, on a beach, say. It is a dilemma, because he only regains his clerical spells if he sleeps outside in nature. Best answer I got to the dilemma is that Zeoll sleeps on the deck of the Lionfish. He needs no room in the house, thanks.
Coer spends some time is his room, meditating on the days events.
He is growing ever stronger as he hones the skills learned at the monastery. But is he losing his way?
There are dead on his hands who were not evil, merely led astray by greed. They attacked the crew and threatened this house - yes they needed to be punished as the law prescribes, but even in Bonetown death is hardly the answer. His hands can subdues just as easily as kill and from now on his blows will be measured.
Coer ponders the law in Bonetown, or more to the point the lack of it. Bonetown will always be a lawless town as long as those in the power allow it.
So maybe Bonetown needs... new leadership he announces to the otherwise empty room, testing the words of a newly forming idea.
