To trudge through the wet and muddy city with an increased weight would take a long time. Luckily Mother Rillan's home is close to the disguised church.

The door is unlocked, and upon entering a warm fire greets the group. Apparently Mother Rillan wanted to return to a warm home after her evil services. Good thing Magana brought her corpse to enjoy the warmth.

The small house quickly fills up with the various Taurs, and luggage brought from under the temple. The house is quiet except for the rain pouring on the wooden roof. Some of the group go about searching the home. Maybe it is Zeoll's weight, or his keen perception but the aging Liontaur steps on a floorboard, and can tell it is not nailed down. Easily prying the board up, he uncovers a few trinkets of no value unless you worshiped the evil god Mother Rillan did. Obviously used in some sort of evil ritual, there is no doubt that the Mother was as evil as everyone else.

Spire takes a seat on the bed, and with the aid of his magical light tries to read the spell. Not knowing if it is fatigue, or if the spell is too powerful for him, the words on the scroll do not make sense to him. Maybe tomorrow, with some rest, will provide a better understanding.

Frustrated with the scroll, Spire lets out a great sigh before resigning himself to a dark corner of the house, spreading out the bedroll he keeps in his Handy Haversack and settling into a night of fitful, restless sleep. In the morning, he immediately attempts to decipher the scroll once more, determined to copy it into his spellbook.

As normal, Terser positions himself to be between Sam and any potential enemies during the night. He's also ready to leap up and slap any people that the voice may take again before they can leave the house. The barricaded door should help with that.

Anyone find any clues as to where they could be keeping this "God" of theirs?

Waking in the morning gives no relief of a true dawn. The gray sky continues, as the wet earth is plagued with more rain. Low thunder echoes in the distance, and flashes of lightning are the only detractor to the gray sky.

Mother Rillan's home is warm, and dry though out the night. Being an evil priestess provides one with the finer things in life.

Spire awakes, and quickly begins deciphering the scroll. The added rest obviously helps, as he quickly reads it as a water-breathing spell.

Zeoll, wishes Kane was still around, but he has headed off to the inn.

The rest of the group untie their rope, get of bed and stretch or come off their watches with no incidents. The quiet noise(besides the weather) is reminiscent of the beginning of this hell when no townspeople were spotted.

The temple is as it was left the night before, no one came out of our went back into the temple. Down in the depths of its belly, the pools are waiting for some visitors.

Last Night ... Zeoll uses his remaining Channels to make sure everyone is cured up ... 26 hp healing to everyone, please.

Zeoll prepares a couple different spells today than he did yesterday.

He looks through the various coins found in the loot and takes 25 gp worth of silver. After preparing it, he uses it to cast Bless Water. He figures a vial of Holy Water will be useful today, at the least to desecrate that altar.

Then it is time to head back to the evil temple, and the watery ways under it. Just before entering the building, Zeoll casts Mage Armor, Elf Vision, Guidance, Taur's Try (minotaur version), and Nemesis Insight.

Magical
1 x +1 Breastplate
2 x Bracers of Armor +1
3 x 1st level Pearls of Power (claimed by Zeoll, Spire, Aexana)

Not Magical - (any masterwork?)
4 rapiers

I think Coer said he planned to store the unclaimed loot on the Lionfish.

"I have 3 spells for breathing under water... but this also means I have no healing available... better stay out of trouble... The water breathing spells are for some of you. I will shape change into either a dolphin or a shark. Changing will make sure I can drag those unable to swim..."

As they make their way to the evil temple again Aex observes the water.

"Time to get wet friends... those who can't swim, can hold on to me...

Aex will use her 3 Water Breathing spells on those who want it. She also casts a Speak with Animals spell on Zeoll.
Then, she hops in the dark water to check the size of the tunnel system and changes into a medium dolphin or a large shark depending on the width of the tunnels.

"Well..." Spire closes his eyes, doing some quick mental math. "I have two iterations of the spell prepared, and Miss Aexana has three. That is a total of five spells, accounting for the time we can each grant the recipient... divided by eight... we could each share the spell for seven point seven five hours if magic worked as such, but unfortunately, it does not. Everyone can have a minimum of seven hours, and a few of us will have eight."
--------------------
Here's Spire's math...

Spire's 2 Spells cast @ Level 5 = 20 hours
Aexana's 3 Spells cast @ Level 7 = 42 hours = 62 hours total
Divided by 8 crew members = 7.75 hours each, but since the spell is divided by hours...
Two people will have the spell for 7 hours
Six people will have the spell for 8 hours

Am I completely wrong here...? Spire's INT is a lot higher than mine.
And finally... Prepared Spells.

Sam wants to check on the ships in the harbor for the captains.

Zeoll stocks himself up on holy water, and spells. Wisdom comes with old age.

Those who peeked at the tunnels, know they are about 8' wide, circular. More then enough room for a minotaur, and even a liontaur to fit.

For the group that ventured the docks, the walk back to the temple is nothing short of boring. The rain and thunder still echo throughout the empty town. Fear of the sound coming back any moment, is the only thing keeping them on their toes. The alderman's house is a possible exploration spot... but will wait till after the swim.

Back at the inn, Jozhur moves to the kitchen busting through the door to see Piotr in the middle of dumping the acrid-smelling contents of a bottle into the kettle of chowder that's been simmering at the edge of the fire since the first Call o' the Sea.  He begins to stammer through an excuse before clumsily throwing the bottle at Jozhur. He turns to run but quickly sees no exit.

She assumes the road up to this temple to be quite dangerous... if the Gnome were to protect her hideout she would most certainly rig the entrance with deadly traps. This backdoor is perhaps more likely to be un-protected. On the other hand... these fish worshippers aren't exactly the 'usual'.

Once they are back at the group Aexana says: "Jozhur's keen ears heard this rat playing with poison... I would avoid the Soup of the Day friends... but he has interesting new to share!"

And so Aex tells about the road up to the temple where the statue is held that can be responsible for all these problems.

"If some go by the water tunnels I must accompany them. I can shape change into a shark towing anyone through the water and further more I have 3 additional water breathing spells memozised today... The fact that the entrance is but surfaced for 3 days per year it sounds very likely that we'll have to go for a swim anyhow. Unless... Piotr... when do these 3 days occur?? Now?? Inside the temple Zeoll, Jozhur and Spire make through the carnage that they left behind. The bodies still lay where they fell, and nothing has been disturbed. They quickly get to the pools, and find them just as they were left. The water, dark and still.

The other group take a path up the hill on the north side of town and arrive at the cliffs. Looking down it is a 25 foot drop. Below a rocky beachhead appears everytime the ocean lowers. As quickly as it comes into view, it dissapears again when the next wave hits.

Ooc: Need an order and any checks.

At the cliffs, two things are tied to a tree. First the rope to help lower some party members down, and second Piotr.

Terser's arms flex as he begins to lower Sam to the rocky beach below. His arms burn as he lowers the man 10' with another 15' to go.

Coer realizes his size might be more work the Terser can handle and climbs down himself. He keeps thr same pace as the lowering Sam.

Monkey Aexana scampers down the entire cliff face in the time it took the others to climb 10'. Her little hands and feet find holds too small for her normal size hands. Once her little feet hit the rocky shore, the ocean explodes. An abominable conglomeration of multiple species explodes from the surf, sending saltwater spraying in all directions. Clacking claws, writhing legs, wriggling antennae--if the grotesque offspring of lobster and beetle learned to walk upright like a man, it might resemble what you see before you. Aexana was quick enough to not be caught off guard but the creature cares not as it rushes forward spitting a vile, fish smelling liquid from its mouth(10 dmg, Dc 22 Reflex save for half).

The creature does not relent as it rushes right into Aexana, tearing at her with its claws. Huge gashes erupt from her monkey body as the claws rip her open. (12 dmg and 10 dmg). As if more was needed, Aexana feels her body feel a little sluggish. (7 Non Lethal damage)

The creatures claws tear into the prone Magana twice. (10 dmg, +6 Non Lethal, 11 dmg +3 Non Lethal). Again another tingling sensation assaults the heroes. (Another will save Dc18 failure results in attacking the nearest creature as per the confusion spell.)

Hopping from foot to foot he jabs and kicks at the beast and even swings his horns for good measure

His blows appear to do little damage, bouncing off the foe's hide, but a well placed kick looks to slow the monster down a tad (perhaps)

In the tunnels, the trio stop at the fork to decide their path. No smells are evident, and the water messes with Jozhur's perception of the dungeoneering. Finally Zeoll takes the right path, and follows it around for it a bit before it opens at the bottom of a pool. The surface of the water is about 20' above.

At the cliffs, Coer yells to the creature, and swings again in a flurry of blows. The shots that do hit are brushed aside with no damage. The horn swipe is easiley sidestepped by the creature.

Terser, swings his weapon again, with more force then before. This time the blade bites down into the beasts shoulder. It obviously damages the monster, but doesn't slow it down.

Magana loses her senses for a moment, and turns on Coerator and swings into him...(Coer takes 11 dmg)

Sam thinks a spell might work, but changes his mind instead inspiring his friends on.

Aexana scampers up high enough, and rains down with a lightning bolt at the creature. The monster, moves fast for its size, and takes a glancing blow.

(@DM Shawn: does this thing realy have a Touch AC greater than 25?!? Since my last Storm Burst spell failed... or is there some other reason I don't see why it didn't work... )

This creature is just too strong!! Why in the Wold did they split up in the first place!!
With an ultimate efforts Aexana manages to avoid most of the stinking stuff this swarm is spitting in her direction. But still she get's hurt... (Aex is down to 11 but too some Non-lethal before so she's at 4!)

"Time to fly and get some distance from this thing!!!" Aex thinks and transforms to an Air Elemental... (standard action not provoking AoO)
Immediately she flies 60ft from her position straight upward - this will hopefully get her out of spitting range... (move action)

From her elevated position she once agian calls a lightning bolt (free action - range 160ft) doing a meager 12 HP damage - Reflex save DC18 for half)

One more hit and Aex is going to plummet down to the Wold...

Ooc: Couple things. Aexana, my mistake. I didnt r re alize it was a touch attack, so your damage from last round is added in.

Also Terser has enough room on the beach to manuever.

Sam helps his friend out the best way he sees, calling on the healing magic and mending his wounds.

Coer and Terser miss the creature on multiple swings.

Magana inhales sand.

Aexana turns into an air elemental and flies up out of range. She rains down with more lightning, and gets a glancing blow on the creature.

The creatures claws dig into Terser twice. (9 dmg + 2 NL, 9 Dmg + 4 NL)

The creature looks perturbed that it cannot get to Aexana, so it spits the foul, fish smelling, cold liquid forth again. This time at Terser and Sam. (8 dmg ref dc 22 for half)

Back in the cave, Spire helps his friends out with a blessing.

Jozhur makes good use of the spell and his talents. His feint works and the tendril creature recieves a nasty gash for its troubles.
The first tendril creature turns the close vicinty black as it secretes and ink. The water is impenetrable for vision. The second tendril creature reached Jozhur and lashes out but comes up short.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC23 - HP 38 of 38)  d20=2 ;
Monday June 30th, 2014 10:02:26 AM

[OOC: I think I missed a turn! Really sorry. I was under the weather with a bad cold.]

Zeoll's plan was to become invisible vis Hide Away (lasts one round) (move action) and then move out of the water and up into whatever space there is (move action) ... maybe moving to be in a flanking position?

But plans seldom fall right, and now where is he and what can he do?

If he is still in the water, he goes back to plan A: Move action to become invisible and then move action to emerge from the water and move to flank.

If he is out of the water, then he uses his Hide Away and then his Laughing Touch. The Laughing Touch is a spell like ability that provokes AoOs to use, but Zeoll is hoping that being invisible will prevent the enemy from taking that AoO because usually being invisible (having total concealment) means that you are immune to AoOs.

Laughing Touch ability requires a touch attack: Zeoll rolls to hit a touch ac2 and is therefore a miss. The attack immediately ends Zeoll's invisibility, but since he missed, he can hold the charge and try again next round.

OOC Cayzle to Kindly DM Shawn ... sorry for the confusion. My own confusion, that is! Basically I just want to approach and try my laughing touch, using the Hide Away one-round invisibility power to avoid AoOs provoked by moving and by using a supernatural ability. Howsoever much time this takes -- one round or two ... or three? -- and then trying again to land that touch attack. Since Zeoll has the water breathing, he does not care if he is above water or below. If there is time to get a second try in this round, here's another touch attack roll ... a nat 2, oh well! :-)

Aexana calls down the thunder, Coer slams his fist into the creature twice, and Terser tears into it with his weapon. The creature looks stunned, it wasn't supposed to go this way. It's claws wear supposed to be cracking skulls right now for the food inside. Instead, more brackish, foul liquid drools out of the side of it's mouth as it's black eyes stare at you. You can almost pinpoint the moment when the life leaves it's body.

Back in the Cave, Zeoll stays in the water and is invisible but he seems to have a problem touching the second tentacle monster. He continues to miss.

The first creature begins to run, but Jozhur's sword finds its soft tissue and pieces the flesh. The tentacles froth up the water as the creature dies.

Spire casts his Summon Monster Spell, and with a bit of luck gets a creature fond of the water. The electric eel arrives ready to do as requested.

The second Tentacle creature lashes out, wrapping it's tentacle around Jozhur's waist. (Free action to start grappling with Jozhur 23 vs CMD of 20, success). Jozhur is pulled in, and the creature bites down through his armor. (3 DMG).
