OFFICIAL RULING ON THE LIONFISH!

You guys can keep her just as she is, if you like, as detailed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ypuup0agvxp8egHufMKVbDqVd_78dpiv36BGpjl-NNY/edit#heading=h.1sh4d5lfnpvc

However, it will cost you book value for a sailing ship -- 10,000 gp.

Assuming that there is an eight player optimal number of PCs in this group, you can each pay 1/8 share, 1,250 gp. And anyone who enters the game would have to pony up that amount out of their starting stake as "dues" to buy a share in your company.

This is NOT required. I'd prefer a consensus to a majority vote. Comments?

Just to metagame a little bit, I've been asked by the incoming DMs to turn the game over with you good folks in Bonetown. My plan is to send you to Rum for the WLA (if anyone wants to join), and shopping (which explains in game how all your gear gets remade).

OOC: My friends, the just-past holiday slowdown now necessitates a present speed-up in activities to get you all moving along.

==========

In Chessford, our heroes gather some information. Certainly, rumor has moved ahead of you, likely borne by the crews of slaves you freed from the Bloodkin. After some inquiry, you discover that your defeat of two Bloodkin ships is quite a piece of hot news. For the moment, you slip out of Chessford without being identified, although the old harbor agent may have a suspicion.

That leaves you voyaging to Rum, and you get to your destination without incident. When you get there, you may be surprised to discover that the town is actually very much under construction. There are tents and partially competed buildings everywhere. And, at least when you enter the port, no customs or harbor regulations at all. Likely that will change, but for now, traffic is so great, and the buzz oif activity so wild, that it is easy to dock without attracting attention.

You find that one of the temporary structures set up here is a branch office of the Catacombs. OOC: We'll say that you shop and dicker to your hearts' delight; that will let us explain your wholesale gear changes without much problem. Has anyone decided to retain a fate item? The barbarian rings? Yel'kno's engagement ring? The flag flying over the ship? No one has mentioned the house and shop that you set up with the two clerics of Pantheon ... I'll likely transition ownership to these NPCs unless someone speaks up. You can likely count on friendly and free room and board there for the short term ... long term, that's up to your DMs and yourselves!

The elves you brought here have heard that the settlement is at least partly being organized by the Woldian League of Adventurers, and they head off to the highest ranking WLA officer they can find.

Please do post your desires and actions while we are here.

Looking ahead, on Friday I will post something like this: "Eventually, your business here concludes, and your adventuring leads you back to Bonetown, over the course of a couple weeks or months."

First Floor
Second Floor

Updated house map. Changed slightly since both characters planning to work the shops have left. Costs can be found here. It's coming to 412 gold, 5 silver and 1 copper each. A little pricier than I expected, but I added locks to each of the important doors (indicated by a red line through the door on the floorplan). The cost is assuming Lansel and Engev pay for their floorspace and locks. Of course, they can always skimp on locks, that is up to them.

Cayzle comments: Sorry! Free membership in Rum is only offered to player characters in the Rum game. You Bonetowners have to pay full price: 2,000 gp.

Coer sees the elves off and accompanies them to the WLA outpost. He will enquire about joining having heard membership is free at the fledgling community.

Once finished he will head to the catacombs tent, which although looks fairly primitive on the outside, take him to the same classic store he has come to love. He picks up a few new items and replenishes his supply of javelins which was running very low. Notably Coer has purchased a new white robe to replace the tattered brown one he had been sporting. Also on show is a shimmering teardrop shaped pearl, woven into his braided beard.

Cayzle comments: Sorry! See comment above. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Cayzle comments later on: Although, as it turns out, there is such a thing as a free sailing ship! See below.

Official announcement! You guys threw us for a loop when you decided not to rebuy the Lionfish. After a bunch of conversation, the PTB came to the conclusion that it is integral to the setting. We were wrong to ask you to pay for it. Therefore let us fix our mistake: the party is granted the Lionfish as a free party item.

Congrats!

EDIT: I was a smidge premature. Please see Jerry's email for a much better explanation of everything.

As much as he tries to get used to the ocean and the constant traveling, Kerg can't stop missing the freedom of the wilderness. This place doesn't seem like he could adapt to it very well, so instead of settling down he decides to bring some of the wild with him. He takes a couple of days to explore the fringes of this frontier and see what kind of companion he can gain.

OOC: I'm hoping for a tiger, because I'm a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes

DM Cayzle
Friday January 4th, 2013 6:47:45 AM

In Rum, Coer finds the WLA is central to many things here. The elves are headed there, and so are many of the party. The officer on duty is quick to disabuse you of the rumors of free membership.

"Sorry, gents, that was a short-time offer that ended a while back. The standard dues apply now. Two thousand gold, upfront, to join! It's worth it, though -- we offer the best martial training program in the Wold!"

Several of the heroes take advantage of the Catacombs, while others take advantage of Rum's several taverns. Seems the hard working town-builders like to blow off some steam at the end of their shifts.

Jozhur ends up drinking with a few hardy fellows -- masons or carpenters, he thinks at first -- with hands stained a deep brown. Turns out they are Fixers, that is, followers of Alemi who specialize in making and repairing things. The town has a large number of them, here to help build things much faster than otherwise would be possible.

With so many Fixers around, you also note that the incidence of disease and injury is less than you'd think. Seems these Fixers tend to be free with the cures, too.

Kerg finds the hustle and bustle of the fast-growing town to be a bit much, and he finds a new friend in the wilderness outside the settled areas. [OOC: I have no problem with a Tiger companion, using the "big cat" option for animal companions. Should be no problem with your new DMs, too, but do check with them when you send your updated PC sheet.]

[OOC: That reminds me, friends -- Please do get your new 4th level PC sheets to your new DMs asap. I am available to help as well (though I'm behind in vetting the sheets for my new players, I have to admit!).]

The WLA is open for business, and you find the amenities of Rum most satisfactory. And it is nice to not be quite so worried about a knife in the back at some odd moment.

Still, there's something about Bonetown that draws you back. Your relationship with Brothers Engev and Lansel? Your need to secure better papers for your ship? Or the way the local gend-arms seem to be looking at you?

Eventually, your business here concludes, and your adventuring leads you back to Bonetown, over the course of a couple weeks or months.

OOC: It has been a pleasure and an honor, my friends! I leave you in the most able hands of Marty and Rob. Have fun!

Just as the ship is getting ready to leave the taur port, Yel'kno will see that Gaston is let off on dock with his fair pay for his time on board, even the time in the brig.

In Rum, Yel'kno gets himself a fancy new hat among other things, sees the elves safely off to their new employers (and snoops around a little bit to be sure they'll be treated right) before heading back to Bonetown... and home? Perhaps.

Back in Bonetown, home, sweet, home your drive for wine, woman, and song drove you all to seek out the infamous Rotten Seal! Walking through the double sized front doors you see that this place is pretty lively to say the least. A grumpy looking half orc stands behind the bar cleaning mugs with a dirty, or just brown, towel. Finding a table to sit is easy enough, a half-elven bar maid, a busty blonde in a white, short, skirt and black thigh high boots shows you to your seats.

All ale fer the lot of ya then? Or sumthin stronger? We 'ave a special Elven brew that'll make ye 'ead swim lads. She lowers her smooth, but trashy voice, Don tell e'ryone though,
she holds a wooden tray, with several empty mugs, balanced on one hand.

A loud, ear pierceing whistle is heard as she speaks. Coming from a table near the door. Four pirates of human and elf races point and stare, one yells O'er 'ere Sharea! The scallywags to green fer a wench like you ey!?

Sharea huffs, but doesn't look over, The dirt in the black market never fails huh? So wat'll ye be havin? she makes an exaggerated wink at Spire

Rafe hadn' been feeling well since he had lost his connection to his Eidolon and things didn't seem to be looking up. What little knowledge he had known in magic and spellcasting was going to have to suffice now and he was going to have to keep his head low, if he meant to keep it, because the spells he knew were not enough he felt. Shaking his head at his misfortune and having no one to really talk to about it, Rafe simply said to Sharea, "Whiskey, please."

When Spire left the Catacombs in Rum, he left a different Elf. He bore the symbol of Gargul around his neck, brightly polished silver wrought in the shape of the god's eye. Nearly everything about him was different; his clothes were a bit nicer, his expression a bit softer. The journey to the afterlife had a profound impact on the wizard, and it showed. He also kept his bow unstrung for most of the time. In its place, he could often be seen playing with a small rat that he kept in a small pouch in his cloak.

In the tavern, Spire could feel his stomach churning at the barmaid listed off their beverages. He has usually abstained from alcohol, and spending so much time on the sea was taking its toll. "Just water for me, please," he muttered, trying not to stare. When she winked, his face turned a deep red, and he busied himself by fiddling with his holy symbol.

To use text formatting here: {b} type what you want bold{/b} the "/" slash ends the formatting. But use "[]" the square brackets instead of the squiggly ones i used above. "B" makes bold, "i" makes italics, others can be found on woldipedia... not sure where right now though. Ill use bold for MOST speech, italics for ooc stuff.. post coming soon.

Sharea nods to Jozhur with a smile, Yessir, I'll bring it right out and she goes to get his new bottle of Elven Absinth.

It isn't long before the beautiful Sharea returns with the deep blue liquid capped inside a glass "hour glass" shaped bottle. Be careful with that sweetie, One bottle is enough for ten dwarves; I saw an elven man once die from drinking half the bottle in one sitting. That'll be 200 gold for the whole bottle. If ya'll need anything just holler. Kraznaid has me cleanin' the kitchen... Bleh.

Standing behind Sharea when she leaves is a young boy with white-blond hair wearing a ragged white shirt and green trousers. He stands looking at his torn leather boots; ahh, Mr. Yel'Kno Sir. A word Sir. He speaks in a quiet voice, still staring at the ground.

If, and when, someone speaks to the boy, he slowly raises his eyes to meet the persons talking to him, a scar from the corner of his mouth down to his collar bone is seen when he raises his head. Looking to have been healed for some time, but never-the-less a permanent mark of a vicious wound.

My captain sent me here Sirs. He wishes to speak with the lot of you; telling me to find Captain Yel'Kno and his crew; he has a request of your services. Sir.
