Prelude to a New Adventure

Co-DM Cayzle
Monday April 9th, 2012 1:17:04 PM

The construction is completed. Your new building stands solid and tall. Granted, it is made of roughhewn wood. It could use a coat or two of whitewash. But in this town of new buildings, most thrown up with only a casual regard for structural integrity, it is the newest monument to Bonetown's rising stature as a place -- that is, an outpost of civilization (of a sort), a community, a home, maybe.

Having heard you talk about the need for a Cure Light Wounds wand, as the last door is hinged into place, Brother Lansel offers his congrtulations, and tells you he has obtained a wand of the kind you seek from a merchant he knows. It cost him 500 gold, and it is only half charged, but he is happy to give it to you at cost.

Brother Engev is also on hand to dedicate the new building, and if no one objects, he would like to offer some prayers and bless the structure. He does so, in the name of Pantheon, and he asks all the Gods of the Wold to look over and care for those who seek shelter here.

After that, he turns to you all and invites you to celebrate the happy occasion with a party at a local tavern. He has arranged everything, if you would be so good as to grant him the chance to thank you for all you have done.

OOC: A new adventure will begin very shortly. Please use this time to finalize anything you want to do before the next module starts. Thanks for being so patient.

By the way, although it is not a new module, I have a bonus prize to thank you for enduring the lack of game activity. Please enjoy this Woldipedia page on the Middle Seas and the sailing distances from diverse ports aroundabouts.

Monday April 9th, 2012 3:50:26 PM

Dilantar, happily surprised at the party being thrown for them, greatfully accepts the invitation. He stows his kit and making sure he has his bombs and his mutagen handy, straps his dagger to his belt and prepares to leave with whoever else is going.

((And because I haven't put it up yet, this whole past week has been crazy, here is my list of stuff that Dilantar looked for in his spare time to furnish his room:

Chalkboard
chalk(100)
large chest
blanket
cauldron
small anvil
weapon blanch, silver
crossbow bolts(30)
twine(50ft)
acid flask(2)
formula book(has a copy of all my formulae and is kept in the chest as a backup)
lock(good)
cure light wounds potions(1)

For a total cost of 161.21 gp

Dilantar's costs:
shopping list total - 161.21gp
building costs(As Ian's rough estimates) - 470.84gp
Total costs: 632.05gp
Total left over(using Josh's spendable loot estimates as base gold) = 667.77- 657.05 = 35.72 gp
and added to the price of materials for 2 doses of Drow Poison(25g each) and the gold that Dilantar had before(21.3gp) for a grand total of 7.02 gp left over

Holy crap being a researcher is a poor elf's life :P

))

Monday April 9th, 2012 4:01:12 PM

OOC: Looks like we're getting it built for 9 GP for sq foot?

Yel'kno will greatfully pay Lansel for the half used wand using his share of the loot and whatever else he has to borrow and keep the wand in his belt pouch to be used as needed (I think he's the only one that can you it?)

Deep apologies, friends. My sister and her boys are suddenly and unexpectedly here for a visit. DM Post to come tomorrow.

((@ DM Cayzle: it's all good.

@Jon: I can use the wand as well but I am not sure who else can.))

The builder presents his final bill, and yes, it comes to 9 gp per square feet. Please let's do ensure that the payment is prompt and properly accounted in the party tallies.

Yel'kno is glad to have the wand of curing, and takes care of compensating Brother Lansel.

Dilantar spends most of his ready cash, but at least he has the satisfaction of knowing that his area is the first to be finely furnished. He accepts Brother Engev's invite to a party. No one else has, yet.

Anyone else want to go to Brother Engev's party? He is looking a little surprised at the lack of enthusiasm!

OOC: Friends, the new adventure is really just about ready to go! Lord knows I am no one to complain about posting, but may I make a plea for us all to get ready to jump on board with great posting and enthusiasm? Thanks!

Thursday April 12th, 2012 2:10:00 AM

Jozhur is not one to pass up on a party and would be happy to attend Brother Engev's. He outfits his room with some basic goods for the time being.

Large chest-10gp
Lamp-1sp
Average Lock-20gp
Lamp Oil (30)-30sp
Iron Pot-8sp
Blanket-2sp
Clay Jug (5)-15cp

He also picks up a disguise kit-50gp and a pickpocket's outfit-5gp

Total: 80gp 41sp 15cp
This leaves Jozhur with 44.98gp.

Spire reluctantly agrees to Engev's party, not much one for festivities or revelry. He outfits his room rather simply, with a small lamp on his bedside table, a desk on the opposite wall, and a decent lock on the door. Spire also gives Yel`Kno 100G for the wand.

((Spending 20GP and 33SP on my room. Average lock, blanket, lamp and oil. That leaves Spire with 193 gold, 12 silver, and 17 copper.))

(Josh) Alphonse AC 17/13/14 CMD 14 HP 10/10
Thursday April 12th, 2012 4:10:21 PM

ooc: 9gp per square foot? Where did that come from guys? You said "a gold piece per square foot." if the house cost 9gp per square foot, then each of our rooms would cost 900 gold. did you mean 9SP per square foot?

Also, how much did I make this week? ("Spellcraft of 21, and a nat 20! on Diplomacy for this week's sales." posted above)

Co-DM Cayzle
Thursday April 12th, 2012 4:13:35 PM

OOC: Sorry! Right! I meant 1 gp per square foot, and 10% off, so 9 sp per sq ft!

(Ian) Spirysn'rar Kilarn AC 14/14/10 - CMD 14 - HP 6/6
Thursday April 12th, 2012 4:14:00 PM

OOC :: Yeah, it should be 9SP, not 9GP.

Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 22/22
Thursday April 12th, 2012 7:09:35 PM

OOC: So much for Yel'kno skimming 8 GP off.. =) What does that make everyones' share? On phone and cant' look back easily

Yel'kno will gladly take up Engrev's invitation as well.

(Josh) Alphonse AC 13/13/10 CMD 14 HP 10/10
Friday April 13th, 2012 12:02:52 PM

Alphonse graciously accepts Brother Engev's invitation.

ooc: if you only payed 200 (your share of the common rooms) + 100 for a room, you get 30 gold back. If, like me, you payed an extra 100 gold for the workshop, you get 40 gold back instead.

So... not to keep asking, but, how much did I make from the week of selling stuff (Spellcraft 21, Natural 20 on Diplomacy)?

Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 22/22
Friday April 13th, 2012 1:10:44 PM

OOC: Alright.. so out of the 667.77 gold, Yel'kno spends 270 on the house, 500 on the wand and gets 100 from Spire leaving him with 7.77 GP:

Lamp-1sp
Lamp Oil (30)-3 GP
Blanket-2sp

Remaining: 4 GP, 4 sp, 7 cp

With the house done and the shop open for business, those working there can feel free to roll for earnings by this formula:

Roll a spellcraft check as if earning a weekly living using the Perform skill. Multiply your earnings by your level. That's what you earn a week. Feel free to roll for yourself.

Alphonse, your roll of a 20 means you earn, as a second level mage, and with five days to the week, a total of 148 sp, or 14.8 gp, as rolled by me above.

The party is set for a party, and perhaps with fresh shirts and a few splashes of water on your faces, you set out. Bonetown is not a very big place, and as you walk, you pass by sights with which you are already familiar. You pass by the Temple of Wardd, for example, walking through the plaza in front of the place, where people are conducting business in the late afternoon.

Brother Engev leads you by the waterfront, and as you get within a few hundred yards, you hear a ruckus up ahead by the wharves ...

If you make a Perception check beating DC10, then Highlight to display spoiler: {You hear the sounds of a fight and shouting.}

If you make a Perception check beating DC15, then Highlight to display spoiler: {You also hear splashings and screaming.}

If you make a Perception check beating DC10, then Highlight to display spoiler: {You also hear a man crying out, "Help! He's got my leg off!"}

Jozhur tinkers around with some mechanical designs in the shop during his downtime.

As the group approaches the wharves, Jozhur doesn't really notice anything out of the ordinary and wonders what the commotion is. (Perception check: 9)

He asks "What's going on up there?" as his hand shifts towards his hidden dagger.

(Dagger hidden with sleight of hand check of 21)

((OOC: *sigh* I would roll a 1 on the perception roll...))

Distracted by a stray thought regarding his formula, Dilantar is surprised by Johzur's question and brings his attention to the matter at hand. However he has no idea what is going on and so stays quiet.

Spire's head is in the clouds, too busy thinking of arcane puzzles and formulae to notice the commotion down by the docks.

"Something's going on down at the docks...", says Alphonse, craning his neck to see (DC 17 to hear it in the first place, 14 to look actively and see what's going on)

Yel'kno hears the sound of fighting and shouts as well and nods in agreement to Alphonse's statement. "We should take a look. It could be another attempt to press gang some unwilling sailors." (Perception 14)

He'll make his way to the source of the noise, peering ahead to see what's going on with his hand on the hilt of his sword. (Perception 26 to actively look)

Drawing weapons, the party hurries forward toward the waterfront. You round the corner of a warehouse and come upon a grisly scene. A trio of giant crabs, each the size of a pony, are eagerly clacking their claws at terrified pedestrians. Two humans and a dwarf are attempting to defend themselves against the crustaceans, but appear to be losing ground quickly. One of the humans is being squeezed in a crab's massive claw. Several bodies with deep cuts lie still on the ground. The three crabs are about 100 feet from you.

Off to one side there is another giant crab, this one looking for prey. This one is about 150 feet away.

OOC: Friends, we have the go ahead to start the next module at last. DM Tanner and I will be sharing duties. And I hope to have a new PC joining us very soon, bring us to six players. We could still use two more, hint hint.

Alphonse whirls his hands in a circle and his clothes glow purple for a moment before fading to their normal green (mage armor). His eyes light up with a deep green glow and then fade out (detect magic).

ooc: not sure if we've actually gone into rounds yet or not, but if I can only cast 1 spell, it'll be mage armor

spellcraft of 28 if necessary for detect magic

OOC: We are absolutely in combat. Feel free to attack, or take whatever action you like, up to one round's worth. Keep your distance (100 ft) in mind)

IC: Brother Lansel calls out to his friend and to the party, "Engev, come on! We'll tackle that one! You fellows tackle those three!" The two priests spend the round running 30 ft toward the crab that's 150 ft away, and casting spells. Engev seems to be taunting it. "Come on over here, Crabby!" he shouts.

Spire moves toward the crabs a few paces (10ft) before pulling out an arrow and loosing it at the monstrosities (Attack 14, Dmg 4), all the while racking his mind for what they could possibly be. (Kn: Nature 18)

Jozhur is really wishing he had brought his bow as he rushes 50 feet towards the crabs, dagger in hand.
