Welcome to Cinnamon Valley

Welcome to Magpie Crossing [DM SteveK]
Monday September 5th, 2016 11:35:39 AM

The sudden appearance of the stranger causes some alarm, but the experienced heroes, Brom, Lanliss, and Velarin, calm themselves down. Evaris and Barratore seem to take it more in stride. After all, bad teleportations have happened to the heroes before!

Baslim seems surprised he is not on the road from Plateau City and that it is night, not day. But he seems quite evenly keeled surrounded by more than a dozen strangers. He seems to have the aplomb of that famous ancient bard, Roy Rogers.

The introductions are cut short, however, as a night watchman calls from a tower on a nearby building. "Halt! Who goes there?" The native Magpie Crossing people immediately shout back. " Hey it's us! You know, Willie? (And Ghillie!). Lord Hmitri is here, and the heroes too!"

A startled Yelp from the tower is followed by the tolling of a bell. "Ding! Dong! Ding! Ding! Dong!" And the night watchman begins shouting. "Rejoice! Rejoice! Lord Hmitri and the Heroes are arrived! Rejoice!..." The ringing and shouting go on as lights flare in Windows and people begin rolling out of homes.

Soon, torches and Mage lights are all about the Town green, and hundreds of sleepy but happy people are pressing drinks into hands, walking long trench-tables onto the grass, and piling up with cold meats, fresh fruits and veggie sprouts and wheels of cheese. Compared to Floating City it is much plainer faire, obviously brought from larders and cellars from thier own homes.

They are mostly human with a small population of 1/2 elves and elves, and a smattering of the other Noble Races. There are three minotaurs (one a youth) and a single centaur at the gathering. The laughter, talking, food, and drink all say the same thing despite the lateness of the hour:

Welcome to Magpie Crossing!

.....

All heroes gain 500xp!

Edson is a little taken back by the newcomer... but since he started with these guys and girls it seemed people joined and left at different intervals. The reaction of the citizens is warmer the their reactions in the floating city. Edson takes a tankard of ale from one of them, and turns to the others... "Hear that? we're heroes... " he takes a big swig of the ale, and then plucks apiece of cheese from a passing plate and pops it in his mouth. " I can get used to this.."

Lanliss eats some of the food given to him happy to see all the people welcoming them.
asking the people if they know any halfling or druids in the area.
He goes with the flow and enjoys the moments, thinking to himself that this is just the good start before the hard stuff to come.

Velarin is a little taken aback by the entire town waking up and rolling out their personal stores of food to welcome them, which is quickly followed by a feeling of pride for who he has become, and what he can do. He mingles about freely and happily with the people, trying to remember names, and faces for the future(int check of 9 to remember as much as possible to add to local knowledge later((stupid die roller))

After awhile, he moves himself a little away from everyone, and just watches the festivities. "These are my kind of people", he thinks to himself, truly enjoying the view of the party. He briefly envisions himself setting down roots in this area, but quickly shakes the thought out of his head. "You know that will never work" he tells himself "It goes against our nature. Enjoy the moment, but sooner or later we will feel the call of the great wide Wold, and need to see and experience more of it." The smile slides from his face, as he accepts that which is most likely to come, sooner or later. But enjoy the here and now he will.

Baslim is still very wary from the recent teleportation, but the warmth and generosity of the townsfolk helps him to at least keep grounded. He seeks out Lord Hmitri during the festivities and inquires concerning his surroundings, the town, and the party of heroes.

*exposition montage*

"I see." He said slowly, taking a drink from his cup. He set it down on the table and folded his weathered hands in his lap. He looked at the calluses and lines that formed a topography on his skin as he considered his situation. "I have never heard of such a thing -- a spell of travel whisking a person from leagues away, to join a party traveling many more leagues besides. It is a strange thing. Whether it be accident or Providence, I do not know." He spread his hands in a gesture of helplessness. "Such is beyond my understanding. Sometimes the gods work in subtle and mysterious ways, even to the cleverest of men. I will always walk in the Light. If this is to be my path, then so be it. If you will have me, I would be honored to help your people."

Rejoice! Rejoice! Lord Hmitri and the Heroes are arrived! Rejoice! Evaris sighs a little and closes his eyes. "And that, children, is the day when Emrys became completely impossible to live with," he says quietly to himself. But he is smiling.

He accepts the food and drink from the locals, careful to try at least a taste of everything given to him lest he give offense. He frowns a little as Roel makes a beeline directly for the drink, but after all, it's a celebration.

Barratore breaks out into a large grin, more food and drink. This was going to be a great place, despite the centaur. Barratore will go over and say hello to the other minotaurs when he spies them and asks them what brought them to Magpie. He tells them a bit of his uncle Metascar and how he left the isles seeking adventure, excitement, and those in need.

Sounds ring from Magpie Crossing and the natives come out of the woodwork. Drinks and food are set out and a celebration of returning or the heroes have arrived begins. Brom completely enjoys the drink and the food, it was his kind of folks and meal. He talked and talked with any folks of Magpie Crossing who wanted to talk.

He comes to Baslim. "Listen Shep, the Gods only do things mysteriously. That's the way I see it."

Welcome to Magpie Crossing. Goodnight. [DM SteveK]
Tuesday September 6th, 2016 8:28:37 PM

Edson and Lanliss enjoy the moment of a down-home midnight party.

Velarin has inner thoughts, to enjoy it while it lasts. It turns out there are a couple families of halflings in Magpie Crossing and hears of a whole village to the south called Meadowdale. And the single centaur is the resident Druid.

Baslim speaks with Lord Hmitri and speaks about the potential reasons he arrived. Hmitri tells of the tale of another group of heroes that all arrived unexpected; the Sunrise Song. "We don't always know the reason. Often, it takes all of our intelligence and wisdom just to know that there must be a reason in the first place. Shepherd Baslim, well come to Cinnamon Valley."

Evaris enjoys himself with only a frown for Roel. The young cleric has so much to overcome, giving in to a moment of release is the least the hero can do for his old friend.

Barratore ignores the centaur and greets the minotaurs. It turns out Palonia is the town's blacksmith and her husband Marcasthai a grower of grapes. The boy stands in quiet awe, and Barratorre takes most of the party to learn his name is also Marcasthai.

Brom exclaims that these are his kind of folks. To which he gets a cheer! Hmitri calls out; "Let's show them a new home!" And the party becomes a parade as the people and heroes walk through the town, over a wooden bridge and small stream and the a left down a lane.

There, in a bend in the stream, among willows and a lovely cultured garden, is a stately red brick two-story house complete with several outbuildings. It is a little overgrown, but the town seems very pleased. Lord Hmitri raises his hands and the crowd settles down. "My heroes, our heroes, our Keepers of the Vale, welcome to the Magpie Manor. Please accept this gift as your new home."

Cheering erupts and lasts until Hmitri raises his hands again. "Let us away my friends. I am sure the heroes need to get used to their home. I am sure we will all see them tomorrow,"

And, with joyful shouts, the townsfolk wave cheery goodbyes and retire to thier own homes once again. It seems that the heroes, Roel, Finn, and Glenda are home.

(Knowledge [Religion]: 30 to recognize the good shepherd's calling.)

This greeting by the good townsfolk was in stark opposition to the way they were treated upon entering The Floating City. Recalling the indignity of suffering a strip search, this welcome party was far warmer than the cold hands of that slovenly half-orc goon. All the more proof that this was the right solution.

"Rejoice! Rejoice! Lord Hmitri and the Heroes are arrived! Rejoice!" Upon hearing that, Emrys can do nothing but smile. 'Now THAT is how you greet someone,' he thinks to himself. Such high praise almost brings him to tears. It's been so long since he's received such a show of love and gratitude. He raises his glass to them all and gives them the warmest of smiles ..."Thank you, thank you all!!"

The grass is definitely greener on this side of the fence ... especially since there was nary a green blade on that floating rock. Having his feet resting upon the natural ground is a sensation he hasn't felt in some time. The love of the town, the wine and food, the music still ringing in his ears and the good earth below his feet is becoming somewhat of a sensory overload. As the town returns to their beds, he welcomes the quiet and the chirp of the evening crickets.

"Your generosity is overwhelming, Lord Hmitri. Magpie Manor is beautiful. I can't wait to see her in the light of day ... along with the rest of this fine valley."

That not being the case, he simply states the place looks grand and that Roel, Finn and Glenda will have it livable quick as can be

To give such a bounty is hospitality and kindness of the highest order. It would please me to sleep under the stars but for the chance to serve Magpie Crossing. I will strive with all my might to protect and minister to you. Thank you."

The cleric excuses himself from further festivities, noting that he is still somewhat reeling from the experience of the wayward teleport, and retires to Magpie Manor. He smiles, thinking that as a young boy he would have jumped at the chance to call dibs on a room.

the Next Morning. [DM SteveK]
Wednesday September 7th, 2016 7:32:12 PM

The heroes turn in to the Manor House and a quick look-see finds it is indeed furnished, but only in a utilitarian motif; it looks like there is plenty of room for improvement. The main floor has a foyer, dining, study, library (only am five books right now), a kitchen, greenhouse/solar, and a back area that looks like three servant bedrooms. The second floor has six bedrooms, an indoor bathing room, and there is an attic that is just one long room but could be partitioned off into more rooms if wanted.

A quick look around and the heroes, late at night and not one but two party's, Well, most of them crash hard! :-)
......

In the morning, Roel opens the front door at a knock and finds an elderly crafts woman there. "Welladay, Goodman! I'm Maya and owns Maya's Treasures in town. I don't sleep much and, well, I made a couple egg pies for the heroes. Cute as buttons, don't you think?" Maya doesn't take no for an answer, and toddles off after pressing the two pies full of egg, sausages, veggies, and cheese in Roel's hands. Finn and Glenda go about the garden and have a good meal ready for the heroes as they wake.

After breakfast, the heroes are able to look about the grounds and are able to see a small stable, a garden shed and still room, a cold cellar, root cellar, and an indoor Salle!

They don't get much time to relax, as there are three more visitors at the door!

Two are Ghillie and Willie Flett. "We, that is Da, well, anyways, we were wondering if we could keep out of trouble by getting hired to keep your gardens!" They wait with hopeful and hero worship eyes...

The third is a uniformed guard with a invitation in perfect calligraphy. "Sir!" He snaps in military precision. "I am to await A response!" The invitation is for a lunch at Schafly's Inn with Hmitri and the Pitchfork Council to discuss the most pressing issues for Cinnamon Valley.

Velarin awakes relatively early, as he is prone to do, so that he may memorize new spells for the day prior to everyone getting going. (perception check 13 to hear Maya at door and the start of their conversation) if so, he goes downstairs to thank her personally. "What a generous gift! thank you so muxch Maya. We have been truly blessed by the generosity of the people of Magpie Crossing. What kind of goods do you sell at Maya's Treasure's? we will probably be in need of numerous things in setting up our new home here?" Velarin will carry on a short conversation with Maya, waiting to see if she has a request before returning inside.

After she leaves, Velarin moves to sit down and enjoy the delicious breakfast provided to them, and thanks Roel, Glenda, and and Finn for their effort and work on their behalf. He starts digging in to the food, hoping to get a fair enough share before Brom and Barratore devour the majority of the feast. When Ghillie and Willie arrive, Velarin responds. "That is a brilliant idea gentlemen, we are likely to frequently have other things to attend to, and will probably not have time to do that on a consistent basis. Having permanent groundskeepers would make sure that things stayed looking nice when we couldn't tend to it." Velarin looks to the rest of the keepers for signs of disagreement, and if so, is likely to cover the cost himself, thinknig it's a good idea, and the least that he can do for the welcome they had been shown. "What do you and your Da feel is a fair wage for such a task?"

After that visit, the Elf returns to the dining area until the third knock at the door occurs. "Your response is yes. Of course we will meet to discuss the most pressing matters at hand, that is why we are here, is it not?" Velarin once again looks to the party to assess signs of disagreement, and assuming their are none continues. "We would be happy to meet over lunch. We will be there"

Wednesday September 7th, 2016 10:23:37 PM

Emrys wakes up early ... just before twilight gives way to sunrise. He always made a habit to see a new place by the first light of the day. It's when things look their truest. With a hot cup of breakfast black tea, he carefully watches with the eyes of a diviner the sequence of fading stars as the morning sun reclaims the sky. He can hear the faint sounds (and the not so faint) of his fellow companions who remain asleep. This was always his favorite time of day, while everyone was still peaceful and safe.

He sees great potential with everything he sees. In his mind, the greenhouse is already filled with rare and exotic herbs for his various potions. He also sees the vast collection of books in the library found from all around the Wold. A perfect starting ground for his dream to create a vast library of known and forgotten lore.

'There is so much open space outside for Brom to run and chase,' he thinks. "He will be so pleased." The Float was way too confining.

Emrys is happy to see Roel with a tray of breakfast pies ... no doubt from someone in town. He thinks the welcome the group has been getting so far is absolutely wonderful ... but he can't help but think the whole impromptu welcoming party may have been carefully orchestrated by the good Lord Hmitri. He doesn't mind it all, he's sure he will return their love in kind ... one way or the other.

He is there is answer the door for Ghillie and Willie. Emrys greets them and offers them some tea. He seems interested in helping these two keep out of trouble. "Tell me, have you been lifelong gardeners? A wonderful profession. I also delight in helping plants grow. One can't help but feel the work has a god-like quality. Tell me about the gardens you've tended."

Baslim selects a room on the second floor and retires for the evening. After reciting his evening prayers, he removes a hammock from his pocket and hangs it from two posts. He removes his sandals and tucks in with a tired sigh. He lied there pondering his new mission until sleep came to him.

In the morning he allowed himself to sleep late. It was a seldom luxury while traveling on the road, and his feet cried out for respite. After waking, he wandered down and smelled the egg pie wafting through the house. He beckons to Ghillie and Willie. "I have a job for you boys, when you get the chance. Please remove all the furniture from my room, save a small dresser, a table, and a mirror. I do not need anything else."

The Pitchfork Council [DM SteveK]
Thursday September 8th, 2016 7:15:03 PM

Despite the early hour of the villagers, there are a couple heroes up even before breakfast. Maya becomes a little flustered in speaking with Valerin, but gamely comes back when he brings the conversation to her shop. "Curios, little bit of this and that, and an opening to the Catacombs where every hero gets their money's desire."

The pies are hearty and plain but delicious, and breakfast is good. Heroes arrive from upstairs and from outside, so nearly all of the heroes but Evaris is in the main floor as the Flett teens arrive. Nearly everyone thinks the Flett's taking care of the gardens is a good idea, but Emrys has a few questions. It becomes quickly evident that while the young men could mow grass, trim basic hedges, and pull weeds, they aren't really capable of anything requiring more expertise!

They are fairly good at taking furniture out of a room with only a couple bangs into the wall and pile them haphazardly in a spare servants room. "Our Da could get or make stuff to each person's wants, he's really good." "I think Da would just be happy for a place we could have food, bed, and a place to stay out of trouble!" They both laugh good naturedly.

The invitation is quickly accepted, Lanliss reminding his friends the real reason the heroes are in Cinnamon Valley. And so, it is with little surprise that the noon hour arrives with the heroes walking the gravel path from Manor to Bridge to the Inn. They are met by a young modest woman who brings them into Schafly's Inn and the main room with no one but four people.

Hmitri, Lord of Magpie Crossing, you know. He introduces the others.

"May I introduce the other members of the Pitchfork Council, the ruling body of Cinnamon Valley. There is Dulcet, Bloodwitch and from Witchspawn." The Old human woman looks like a soft wind can break her in two, but strong enough for her spell casting.

"Thelonius Bedstraw, Hill People representative of the Council". The blonde half-elf inclines his head.

" Simmay Swanfeathers. Halfling druid, representative in Council of both Druids and the Village of Merrydale." A grandmother, hale and plump. She smiles at the much taller heroes.

"Shall we talk?" Suggests Hmitri...

Velarin responds to Maya "The catacombs. Wonderful. Then hopefully we will be seeing a bit more of each other if fortune smiles our way."

Velarin responds to the boys. "Do you not have food and bed at home? or were you just referring to the place to stay out of trouble? As for here, you are responsible for trimming the hedges, cutting the grass, and pulling the weeds, and whenever we have need of odd jobs that you can handle, or other errands like delivering messages, you will be our guys. When we have time to decide what we might need as far as furniture for the house, we ask you to have your Da stop by."

Velarin goes with the others to the meeting of the pitchfork council, and acknowledges them as they are introduced by Hmitri. Upon Hmitri suggesting they talk, Velarin takes that as the cue to sit down, and responds. "By all means. I'm a simple and straightforward Elf. You have gone to great lengths to ask us here, and likely burned many favors past and future in the floating city to make it happen. All the people here have gone to great lengths to make us feel welcome, and We are greatly appreciative of this, and are happy to be here. My instinct, however, tells me that there is likely some pressing problem that needs to be dealt with for such a hurried and costly acquisition of heroes. If I am wrong, please forgive my instinct, but if not, please let us get to the root of the current business at hand. We have a big fella in the back that's more than happy to stretch his arms in the direction of a problem."

Not having grown up around humans, Emrys is a bit age-blindness when determining human maturity. He had mistakenly assumed the two young lads had more experience with gardening. However that is quite alright, he is more than willing to teach them what he knows.

Now is not the time for gardening lessons, now is the time for meeting the powers that be. He makes sure to dress to impress. Even his walking stick, Black Sanguine, gets a proper dusting and polish.

When they arrive, he is warm and inviting, a pleasure to behold, every bit as enchanting as the legends have said. "Greetings, Ladies and gentlemen. It is a pure pleasure to make your acquaintances. Emrys Myrridanmyl, at your service."

Dulcet needn't have her affiliations told ... he could sense the strong scent of Woldsblood upon her. He was certain she could as well.

Besides the introduction, Emrys tries his best to remain reserved and mild. He doesn't wish to completely steal their thunder with his irresistible charms and arresting presence. He tries his best not to be the center of attention and allows their hosts to take control of the meeting.

Barratore gives one of the boys a scruffing to his hair as he passes on the groups way out. Arriving at the Pitchfork Council, he stays in the back. He could easily see over everyone else and leaning against the wall, he hoped he continued to look relaxed and not to bullish.

Velarin had the right of it, something seemed to be a pressing matter, which suited him just fine. Barratore certainly had the urge to stretch his arms. He knew Brom did as well. While not something he excelled at, Barratore was trying to do better and forces himself to focus on what he saw and heard coming here as well as what was going to be said.

ooc: Sorry. Very busy day.

Sheperd Baslim does very little in the way of preparation, compared to some other occupants in Magpie Manor. After eating a slice of the egg pie -- well, half a slice, since it was so rich and he didn't really need to eat anyway -- he went outside to prepare himself.

First was the morning oblation, giving thanks to Alemi for all the blessings of his life. He found a nice spot of grass and faced the rising sun. He prostrated himself and bowed deeply, intoning the traditional words of gratitude for the Light that guided men to righteousness.

Afterwards he used the hand well pump outside the Manor's front door to fill a bucket. He washed his hands, face, and feet with a thick lather then rinsed. He still wore his same tattered tunic and pants, and donned his cloak from his room. He was ready for the day.

The Shepherd followed the party to the inn, greetings townsfolk as they passed. Baslim entered the meeting room of the Pitchfork Council and waited patiently as Lord Hmitri gave introductions. He nodded respectfully to each personage in turn as they were named. He touched his hand to his heart and bowed his head.

"As the Chant teaches, 'Blessed are they who stand before the corrupt and the wicked and do not falter. Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just.' What can we do in service of Magpie Crossing?"

Edson gives a nod and hello to each member of the Pitchfork Council. He straddles a chair and takes a seat waiting for confirmation on what is needed.

Evaris wears his vestments to the meeting--his everyday vestments; not the fancy ones. He bows when introduced. "Evaris Leafgreen," he says.

But his companions seem to have things well in hand, so for now, he simply listens with interest.

Brom follows the others to meet with the council. When introductions are done, Brom just nods. He just stands and waits for the council to tell them what has plagued the valley.

The Request [DM SteveK]
Friday September 9th, 2016 10:28:23 PM

Velarin and Barratore spend a bit of time with the Flett teens. The Minotaur settles for a ruffle of the human head fur to the awe of Ghillie and Willie. The Elf has more questions. "We all just lost Ma last year and Da has his hands full with the shop and apprentices. Neither of us were good with wood, and have just been going around trying out different stuff to see what we like."

Walking the town to Schafly's Inn looks like a normal day, healthy people and backyard gardens, shops open with the noise and scents of various crafts. There is no immediate note for concern.

In the Inn with the introductions of the four members of the Pitchfork Council, Baslim gives a benediction and Velarin takes the lead.

The four members look at each other and it is Dulcet who cackles. "You brought me here Hmitri, you went on the diplomatic mission, so talk to em!" Smiling a little sheepishly, Hmitri does.

"The peace of Cinnamon Valley is fragile. We have four different groups of people trying to live together after a history of invasions, only the most recent by Fire Giants and the Sons of Dread. Both of those terrors we needed outside hero help; first with the Gold and Storm Dragons and then the Gray Dragons. While those threats are gone, the people have a gut fear, like waiting for the other shoe to drop. And then there is the relationship between our nearest neighbors, Rowena and Effacia, never friendly, they now view us with suspicion. That ‘no good wind blows from Cinnamon Valley’.”

Hmitri shakes his head. “But the most pressing matter is north of Magpie Crossing, in the woods that once contained the Sons of Dread. The Gray Dragons destroyed them, but that left a power vacuum and many ley lines still evilly aligned. The land and people up there have problems: crops not growing, people getting sick, even going crazy. And the sickness is growing.”

Dulcet takes up the thread. “My coven has been scrying the area. Sometimes the land is pushing sickness and evil, and sometimes it is like it is fighting itself. We think there is a power for Good that is trying to fix the problem, but is slowly losing. If you can go into the sick area, find the being of Good, and assist that being…”

Dulcet stops talking, but her request is obvious.

"Very well." Baslim stands and takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "Is there a village up north where we can start out search?"

Evaris (Kathy)
Saturday September 10th, 2016 12:36:43 AM

"Or perhaps your coven's scrying has pinpointed a few likely locations for us to explore," Evaris adds. His mind is racing, trying to decide what spells to prepare for the journey.

Ley Lines? "What's a Ley Line?" he finds himself asking Brom. Find the ally f good and help it overcome the evil. Barratore liked the sound of that though what he also distinctly did not hear was what the ally of good was, or looked like and so he voices the question
"We know who or what the ally we are looking to help is or looks like? Or is it going to be one of theose obvious things like a minotaur in a room of halflings?

Barratore merely needs to stop by the house and swap out his talk to you gear with his smite you gear and he is good to go

The rest is best left to the magical members of the group. Brom waits for an idea and a direction.

It kind of hits Brom that, he didn't need to wait for someone to make a decision, it was obvious. He just wasn't paying that close of attention.

"North it is." He says. "If there's nothin' left..." He says looking out at the council. "Okay, let's get geared up."

Emrys look upon his friends with astonishment. "You all know nothing on how I draw much of my power for spells from? I thought I had explained it to most of you at least once or twice before."

He then explains, "Leylines are the source from which blood witches draw their power. Within the Shadow Realm there are rivulets of Woldsblood. The power from these streams resonate within the Living Wold, we call them Leylines. Leylines are found everywhere, but they're flow is dynamic and forever shifting. That's why my spells sometimes fail. However there are other places in the Wold where these leylines are more stable and concentrated ... and therefore a more potent source of magik."

Further Information [DM SteveK]

Dulcet cackles. "It is as the pretty one says. Ley Lines power the spells of Witches, we tap these fickle power lines and nodes around the Wold. Up I the Dread, there is at least one stable Line we know of that is aligned to evil and only evil spells can be cast from its power."

Simmay harrumphs and waits until the heroes are looking at her. "This ain't no mummy rot or zombie plague that you can get by bumping into the wrong thing. This sickness is more insidious and has been slowly wilting plants and people for a month or more. You ain't gonna catch anything in just a few days."

Hmitri speaks. "I know you haven't seen most of Cinnamon Valley, but it is only about 25 miles in length and about 10 miles at its widest. (I.e. The heroes would be able to walk anywhere in Cinnamon Valley in less than one day.) The Dread woods begin a bare seven miles north of Magpie Crossing. How large those woods are... We just don't know. None of us have ever ventured beyond our borders. The closest farm is Hnate's Hamlet right at the end of the road north. He'll be expecting you and may give more information."

Dulcet speaks up again, and lays a half globe of milky Quartz on a table. "My Coven created this Seeker Stone it by Tinkering with a Locate Object spell." The heroes can see the Stone has a blue arrow that points north by north east. "the arrow points in the direction of the strongest aura of good that is sick within 30 miles, and glows brighter the closer the creature. The magic will only last 7 days."

The Pitchfork Council goes silent. They look like they have no more to possibly tell the heroes, and now the proverbial ball is in their court!

'It is as the pretty one says,' she says it replays in his head. Hardly the words he'd use ... pretty is a small word that barely begins to cover it. However, he knows she meant it as a compliment and takes it as such.

"There we go then. I look forward to the opportunity to stretch ones legs after being stuck on that floating rock for so long. Thank you Lady Dulcet, you are quite helpful ... and consider it done, with much enthusiasm," he says with a smile.
