Once the Huntsman and his horde has vanished the Humble's Swords are left alone on the vast plains of Kosche Marr... The lavender moon casts a beautiful light over the entire valley. Everything is dead quiet... Too quiet perhaps.

Shel votes to go East in search of Amalee. Hazel nods in agreement and offers to take the lead. However he does not walk too far ahead of the group. Bliss and Mookie also agree to go East. Bliss still intends to save the girl they saw earlier in a vision... wasn't she executed then?!
Mookie and Murphry the Owl will be the group's eyes from the sky.

Sardok wonders what it is they ought to do once they find this 'Amalee'. A thought which is shared by Alleah... She just hopes it's a person and not just some 9 headed monster!

And so the group travels East...
Murphy and Mookie fly high above the group but so far they don't catch a glimpse of any so called cemetary.

Steadily they group wanders beneath the lavender moon. Though lovely at first the color begins to give you a sickening effect. The plains rise and fall. After every hilltop come more plains... Sigh...

You travel for hours... (knowledge nature DC15 spoiler: Highlight to display spoiler: {Even though you have been walking for hours you notice the moon hasn't moved at all... And you don't get a feeling that there is going to be any sunrise in these haunting lands... })

Then suddenly both Mookie and Murphy detect a mushroom field slightly to your South... Behind it, a building! Welcoming smoke comes out of the chimney... It smells like cinemon, cake, freshly baked bread...

The two flying scouts can perceive a sign next to the door... Harrowed Moon Inn...

"At least it's not too dark" Alleah shrugs. The lack of a sun doesn't bother her. If anything it means Wardd's moon will be watching over her for longer. That can only be a good thing. Right?

Murphy notes that only one moon can be seen, rather than the two customary in the night skies of the Wold. Does it look like either of the two he knows, or is it somehow different - other than remaining stationary?

Seeing the building, Murphy flies back down to his friends. In the ground he scratches out an arrow, and the rough picture of a house with smoke curlycuing out the chimney. He makes sure at least someone pays attention to this, then wings that direction.

Sardok marches along, surrendering to the motion of marching until more knowledge is shined upon their current...purgatory.

Suddenly the owl/Murphy scratches out something in the dirt. Eh? What nonsense is this? "Oy! Shel! hazel! Alleah! Come look at this! There seems to be something in that direction. Let us investigate it and see what oddity these horrors have thrown at us now!"

Sardok jobs off in the direction of the arrow, pondering as the situation grows curiouser and curiouser.

Hazel notices the moon's not moving and deducts there's most likely no sun in these accursed lands...
Alleah shrugs at Hazel's comment claiming there's enough light to go... Shel agrees as it could be far worse if it's dark...

Suddenly Owl-Murphy lands near the grouo drawing an arrow pointing South and a children's sketch of a house...

Sardok checks out the drawing and assumes Murphy wants them to go see what's out there...

A little while going South the groups stands at the edge of a mushroom field. Be it a surprise they have any color from pink to aubergine. Some tny and some have even outgrown you...

On the other side you spot the tip of a roof... It does not appear to be too far out...

"A house in a mushroom field. Seems like there could be much worse hints to find out here. Should we investigate? I think he said the girl would be further away than this, though? Remember, if it's not her, we have no time to waste. We are now officially on a schedule to get out of this awful place!". She follows the others through the field, toward the roof.

"Pessimist" Alleah grins at Hazel. She knows just about as much about these mushrooms as he does, which isn't promising (Knowl Nature: 13)

Still, the mushrooms are enticing.

Alleah casts a "Detect Poison" spell (Leyline check: 21) and looks at the mushroom field. Poisonous or not, she will take a dagger from her kit and try to carefully poke and prod one of the smaller mushrooms within reach.

If still nothing unusual happens, Alleah will take an empty sack from her kit and use it like a glove to pick one of the smaller mushrooms.

Murphy flies above the shrooms, but does not get too close. In a place like this, one or more of them might try to shoot their spores in one's direction. He recognizes - or thinks he does - some of the specimens. He and his mother, and later his Aunt Nilli, used to gather mushrooms all the time. He knows which ones are edible, and which ones only seem so, but instead are deadly, or at least have effects other than being a tasty snack.

"Well, we have three days, so a short jaunt to an inn will cause us no great harm. And the inhabitants are certainly not to be undead, since such like would have no use for food or drink or, indeed, roofs at all. Since we are alone and lost, I see no risk to just knocking on their door. At the very worst, it could not hid an army, so we might be able to aptly defend ourselves if they show hostility.

Come, friends, I don't know about you, but I could certainly do with a some liquid fortification to my courage."

Shel wonders if they should check the house... But wasn't Amalee supposed to be much further away? Hazel prefers to go around the Mushrooms...

"Pessimist", Alleah grins for she isn't to worried about them... On the contrary! They look enticing!! So instead she digs a dagger up from her sleeve and pokes 'n prods one of the smaller ones...

The dagger takes a bit more pressure before it pierces the tough skin of the mushroom... Once it sinks deeper purple spores fall down... It like the plant's dying! Was that a sigh!? Like a last breath that escapes a crumbling creature?? All of you feel a sudden shiver going through the mushroom field... Anger? Fear? Resentment?

Unlike Alleah, Murphy does not want to come too near to the shrooms... He does not recognize them but he certain purple mushrooms don't belong on a dinner plate...

Bliss suggests to go knock on the house's door and Sardok agrees with it. If you have three days... What's wrong with a drink or two??

Where too friends? Straight through what would take you about 2 mins? Or the long tour for about an hour?

Alleah feels bad about having apparently 'killed' one of the mushrooms so she tries to mend it and then to give water... she waits a bit while the rest debates how to go to the Inn but sadly the mushroom doesn't come to life...

Checking with Hazel Shel waits to go forward. The long way around or straight through the field?!?
It is however Sardok who makes the decision and finds his call strengthened when Hazel too feels going around sounds safer... A cultivated field means a farmer and a farmer means property and property means private so stepping through this field is a definite no go for him. After all they've been walking all day so what's another hours?! He leads the way and starts going around the field.

Bliss and Murphy though don't want to wait for their friends to make the tour around the mushroom field and fly straight up to the door with the polite intention to knock on the door!

The moment Shel notices this she warms Hazel and Sardok that apparently two have chosen to make the short cut... will they not get in trouble then while the rest to circling field?!?

Murphy and Bliss take matters into the air and fly towards the house... it IS the Inn! ... but once they draw near to it the structure begins to fade!! By the time they come to it... the Inn is no longer there!! Was this only an illusion?!? A trick perhaps to lure them through the harmless mushroom fiels? What's going on here?!?!?

"NOOOOOOO" a young female voice suddenly cries!!

"What have you done! We were almost there!!!"

A young Goblin girl and her even younger little brother come rushing in... they look bewildered, dirty, scared, tired... The girl falls to her knees where the Inn stood and bursts into tears. Her brother looks around and appears to be too young to fully understand the situation they are in...

So Bliss and Murphy stand where they Inn was. Two Goblin children stand sit on the ground about 50ft from the Humble's Sword Air Force. Alleah, Shel, Hazel and Sardok have just started their detour in order to avoid to go through the mushroom field...

Murphy hops in as non-threatening a manner as he might. Polite hops, yet closer, gradually, toward the children. He tilts his head, as though in a question. A gentle whooo comes out his beak, and a dipping of the head, and... owls cannot do sidelong glances. He looks directly on, briefly, then to the side.

Sardok continues to ponder the oddity of this. "Why is there a field and an inn in this? It's the middle of nowhere. And who would use an inn? There aren't any other houses around. And where is the farmer's house or silo to store a harvest. Wait, is a mushroom harvest kept in a silo? Or would it be a drying room? And where is the road? Who ever heard of an inn that wasn't on a road??
This place makes...no sense."


OOC: Well, maybe the inn will turn out to be a small castle. Then they might have a phone.

OOC: I'm wondering if the post count has been struggling in the last two weeks since there's really been nothing to do. We run from an army for days. We are now walking through this land for days. I don't mind a plot hammer every now and again, but since being teleported here, we are just at the mercy of the plot, whatever it is.

( OoC: Ok... Gerald, thanks for sharing your feelings about the current plot. I do have to explain that one of the core aspects of this realm of nightmares is to feel lost... to be lost... confusion, doubt, anger and fear should be the prime feelings both you and your characters should feel! Your post for Shel was actually a very good one!! It shows Shel is at loss! She's angered by the fact that she doesnt understand what goes on!! Perfect post in other words!!
Let's trace back what happened... You ended up in an unknown realm and encountered the Huntsman who challenged you to find soneobe called Amalee somewhere East... The lands are vast so indeed you will have to travel and... that won't happen without ecountering a few... Euhm... bumps in the road...
But I take it you don't enjoy this so I will get you on your way. )


Sardok, Alleah, Shel and Hazel take the long tour around the (not cultivated but purely naturally and random) field of mushrooms. By the time they get Bliss and Murphy in sight those two have already gotten to know Isra Blackfur, a young and witty Goblin lass, and her brother Rais Blackfur, the boy's too young to grasp the intensity of the situation you guess...

Isra and her brother are exhausted, thirsty, hungry and dirty. Isra has told Bliss and Murphy about The Inn. She knows that it is the Inn she and the Humble's Sword will need in order to escape from this horror. Only question is... where's the Inn?! It's location is not fix!! If lucky they would find it within the hour or they could be travelling these desolate lands for all eternity. And then again they just saw it but it vanished as soon as they came near. Like the Humble's Sword, Isra and Rais met the Huntsman earlier and to them he also gave 3 days to find the old cemetary as there lies the key to find the Inn... Will the Huntsman actually hunt these poor children!? Somehow you think he would...

While Isra talks with you, her brother is playing hide and seek in the mushroom field...

"Um Bliss, Murphy, the first creatures we encounter in this place not trying to kill us are goblins? Do we trust these two to not slit our throats in our sleep? I've never met a friendly goblin before, have you? We have to find Amalee, and we've wasted a lot of time walking through this mushroom field. If any of you trust these goblins, we can let them tag along, but we need to decide quickly and get to moving!"

"Of course they are coming with us!" Alleah doesn't hesitate to take some meat from her pack. A Prestidigitation spell to improve the flavour, and a Create Water spell to provide something to drink. "Here you are. My name is Alleah. Are you hurt? Where is your family?"

Heal check: 12 - Can Alleah see any wounds on the children?

Alleah will extend a hand to the girl, and look to take her under her arm to comfort her. "It's ok. I'll look after you"

The day has been challenging for the seasoned party, so who knows what these two children may have already endured. Should the girl get close enough, Alleah will use one of her calming touches to try and ease some of the girls pain (Heals 2pts non-lethal damage and removes the fatigued, shaken, and sickened conditions - but has no effect on more severe conditions).

In answer to Shel's query, Murphy hops over to the girl, makes almost a cooing noise, then gently rubs his head, on her shoulder (if she allows him to do so). As the boy is out among the mushrooms, he flies out in that direction, then joins him in playing hide and seek -standing behind a stalk, then peeking his head out so the boy can see it, then pulling back to hiding.

Once they are on their way again, he again takes to the air.

While waiting for everyone to catch up, Bliss chats with the goblin kids. Who are they? What are their names? How did they get here? What was that building, and why did it disappear?

He keeps his ears and eyes open as they chat. And he gets a feel for who they are ...

Mookie keeps alert too!

Do Bliss and Mookie feel that these goblins are who they say they are? Any bad vibes, or are they trustworthy?

If there are no danger signs, Bliss is glad to have them along.

While Bliss and Murphy wait for the rest to join them Bliss tries to get to know the kids. They seem frightened and constanty look around as if they expect something (or someone) to pop up behind them any moment

The Owl lands near Bliss and Isra. First she stirs as the owl lands but when she notices he's friendly she smiles and cautiously laughs. Rais is thrilled as he suddenly has someone to play with!

Bliss wonders what happened to the Inn he saw earlier. He notices a lingering Aura of some powerful magic but doesn't quite find the answer what hapened.

A bit later the rest of the group joins you...

Shel's quite sceptical with the thought that the two first friendly creatures they encounter her are... Goblins! Looks like she would rather leave them rather than having them tag along with the risk of having your throats slit at night...

Wondering what Alouryn will say if the Humbles Sword confess they left two children, albeit Goblin children, behind to die in the Lands of Koshe Marr makes Hazel decide to allow Isra and Rais Blackfur to tag along...

"Of course they are coming with us!", Alleah says out loud... and immediately she tends for the children. First Isra is suspicious, but as soon as Alleah conjurs some tasty water both Goblins slurp as much as they can! They were clearly exhausted and it makes you wonder just how long they have been put here...the soothin words from Alleah and her caring embrace make Isra burst in tears. It seems whatever it is they have endured here is suddenly finding it's way through the young girl's defences. Rais looks up to his sister while he peaks from behind a large mushroom he was hiding after. The young lad doesn't understand what's going on...

Isra tells what happened...she snickers while he speaks...

"I don't know how we got here... we went to bed and woke up here. I thought we were dreaming untill He came... I dragged my brother along and ran... I could here him laugh! Then I realised we weren't waking up and remembered a story our Shaman told about a land of Nightmares. He said there was only one safe place called the Inn but finding it is almost impossible as it somehow changes place...

I'm scared...
" she says to Alleah and softly cries again...

Assuming you're allowing Isra and Rais to join you, you continue East.

Even though the moon isn't moving you can feel you've been walking for hours now... the lands are barren with rocks here and there. You may go on... Or sleep...

Bliss wonders aloud how it is that the moon never sets and the sun never rises. Mookie replies glumly, "It's a nightmare, Kid. It doesn't have to make sense."

"Well I'm tired," Bliss says. "We should stop and rest."

Maybe we could walk one more hour, but if we don't find anything, then we could take our chances and try and rest under this awful sky. Alleah will cast Create Water as many times as needed for the little ones to drink their fill. She'll even dab some on her sleeve and use it to wipe some grime from their faces, much like a mother tending to a baby. "There now. You'll be safe with us". Alleah doesn't for a minute believe that the children are safe at all in this land - with or without the party. But she will protect them to the best of her ability.

She will carry Rais on her back (Medium load now) or if he is tired, in her arms whilst humming softly. She doesn't know any goblin nursery rhymes, so just tries to keep the tone soothing.

The party sure are collecting a few followers now. Isra and Rais, the two goblin children. Tiana and Veseley, of the Second Dinner's Club. And of course, the corpse of Bazeck.

"I'm not fussed where we set up camp. Would you believe I've got a tent packed as well as some blankets?"

He reintroduces himself to the children. "Our family has a goblin friend by the name of Bobbles. He dances, and plays a nice rhythm with a pair of spoons. Oh, and my name is Murphy."

The druid offers to stand last watch.

Bliss muses why the sun doesn't come up in these lands but Mookie reminds him that these are the Lands of Nightmares and nothing is as it is supposed to be... Feeling tired the little witch is keen on finding a place to sleep.

"It would be really nice to find a place with some cover.", Shel adds for she isn't looking forward to meeting more of those flying nightmares. She is however not looking forward spending the night with a few Goblins...

Alleah cares for both Goblins and when not carrying Rais as they wander the lands the little Goblin boy is holding her hand. Isra too stays close to Alleah. She wouldn't mind camping out in the open... She just happens to have a tent in her backpack!

Hazel looks distressed. He and Faoil too need some rest and he offers to take first watch.

As soon as the group has decided to camp, Murphy transform back and he reintroduces himself to Isra and Rais.

Sardok takes second watch.

Veseley still takes care of Tiana. When the idea of camping comes up Veseley uses his magic to help protect the place and conjuring up some food and water while he's at it.

You pass a few hours sleeping. The light never changes and the moon still hangs on the same place in the same dreadful deep purple sky...

And so the ever growing group again walks further East.

Walking due East brings you over a hilltop giving you a gaze over a mindblowing crystal forest... As you walk towards it Isra suddenly screams!! Out of nothing on the hilltop you just crossed the Huntsman appears riding his nightmare steed!! Purple flames flicker around the steed's ankles and smoke escapes from it's nostrils with every puff it makes. He raises his bow steering a horde of bats towards you!!

The Huntsman stands 100 ft from you and his bats are on their way!!

"GIVE ME THE GOBLINS... YOU I WILL HUNT LATER...

Isra screams again, grabs her little brother by the hand and together they run for cover in the forest!!

Veseley shouts back "Die you monster!! Here's one for Bazeck!!"

He aims a powerfull fireball at the Huntsman and tales.position between the group and the Huntsman and his bats...
There are no less than 12 medium sized bats veering towards you... Speed 40... Distance 80ft... Distance to the forest 80ft...

"Not gonna happen!" Alleah places herself directly in front of the children. Goblins or not, they are still children. She raises her fists, determine to put up a fight - no matter how small.

"We don't know what's in the forest. They could be just trying to shepherd us into it. I think we should stand and fight!"

Alleah casts Bless affecting all allies within 50ft. Everyone gets a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.

WhenShel feels the power of the spell cast by Alleah affect her, she decides to try to fight as well. Knowing her spell wouldn't have a chance in hitting without, the Huntsman being in range, she advances 20' toward the hunter, and casts Invisibility, disappearing from view.

Murphy casts summon swarm, and calls forth a colony of bats to intercept the oncoming swarm of opposing bats. As soon as he finishes sending them out, he runs to catch up to the children, and to shepherd them into the forest. It may, at least, provide a measure of cover from the arrows of the Huntsman.

"Not gonna happen!", Alleah says and she takes a stand between the Huntsman and the children. The Huntsman smiles wickedly...

Not knowing what hides in the forest Alleah uttets a warning but already the children are heading over there...

With the power of Alleah's spell engulfing her, Shel makes a bold move... With a spell in mind she moves 20 ft closer towards the Huntsman and there dissapears From sight...

Hazel reacts instinctively... He launches some stones and commands Faoil to protect the Goblin kids... protect the Goblins??!! In any case Hazel's stones strike true!!

Bliss hops on Mookie amd races after the Goblin kids...

With the group dispersing Alleah suddenly realizes the children are making a run for the forest. So she as well turns around and also runs for the forest...

Murphy starts a Summoning spell. The bat swarm he summons will appear at the start of your next round. Please let me know where it appears...

Sardok stands idle pondering his otions...

Veseley hurls a fireball...

Isra hesitates as she hears Alleah shout... But her little brother rushes headlong into the forest...

Sardok draws swords and motions at Hazel. "Come, my brother! Let us take him together and he shall fall before us."

Moving towards the Huntsman, Sardok calls him out. "STAND AND FIGHT YOU COWARD!! It is bad enough you hide behind a bow! Let us see if you will cross steel without an entire army to your back. STAND AND FACE ME! You sniveling prawn. You yellow backed-suss! You are made of words and lies and have no spine to speak of! Sardok doesn't know if any of this is true, but someone who had true power would simply order someone else to hunt them. And those who rule by fear are always shadowed by rumor. Even the undead have power struggles. Never did a vampire serve willingly.

Seeing her friends run towards the crystal forest Shel first protest but then she follows suit...

Sardok bodly takes a stand besides Hazel and dares to taunt the Huntsman... While the rest of the crew turn and run this duo, be it bravery of madness, stands to defie no other than him...

The Huntsman's gaze is stone cold... even from this distance you can sense he's laughing. Interested. Eager to begin his hunt.

Hazel orders Veseley to attack the bats while he as well launches to more stones... The bats he hit earlier are respectively to your North and South. Instead he hurls his stones at the bats that are closest to Veseley and Invisible Shel... (clear line to bat 4 so I took the liberty of attacking that one with both stones...)

Alleah runs after the children and casts a spell to have them calm down... They slow their pace and then follow Bliss, Mookie and Faoil into the forest...

Veseley sees the bats drawing closer. He looks around for Tiana and notices she just sits there... Instead of fighting he runs towards her and casts a protective spell.

The bats North and South go 80ft towards the forest chashing after the rest.

In front of the remaining 4 Shel's invisible and Veseley gets out of their way. So they thrash into Hazel and Sardok... As they are almost with Sardok and Hazel they change shape to humanoids, possessed of a ravenous bloodlust. Dark hair, lithe frames, severe features, and slightly pointed ears... They growl as they attack!

Werebats 3 and 5 launch imto Hazel...
WB3 hits Hazel AC22 - damage 6Hp - FORT DC15 please
WB5 hits Hazel AC8 - failure to connect

Werebats 4 and 9 veer towards Sardok...
WB4 hits Sarsok AC9 - failure to connect

The rest of the group runs headlong into the Crystal Forest...

Bliss, Mookie, Faoil all make a DC20 steath check please. Isra and Rais fail their Stealth check.

The forest is mindblowing... The lavender moon casts twinkling lights through the canopy of crystal leaves... Leaves?!... In fact they look more like razor sharp crystal, delicate, shards.

As Isra and Rais enter the forest the shards above them tinkle... A lovely sound at first but then more tinkle to eachoter! Suddenly one shard falls down... Then more!!

4 shards fall close to Isra hitting AC 18, 19, 33 and 30... Dealing 10HP!!

6 shards drop on Rais hitting AC18, 19, 25 and 35, 33 and 22... Injuries taken 16...

Isra and Rais cry out in pain!! More shards will drop next round!!!

Isra bleeds heavily. She looks terrified and turns to see Alleah, Rais... you said we'd be safe...... Isra then looks up for the next shards to drop and raises her bleeding arms in front of her eyes...

Rais drops lifeless to the ground... Some shards are stuck in his young goblin body... Some broke leaving the crystal in his abdomen and shoulder.

Bliss, Mookie and Faoil have incoming shards. DC20 stealth to negate... 1 shard per point short of DC20... You do not want a nat 1 my friends...

"Ugh," thinks Mookie, "I shoulda seen this coming!"

Mookie normally has a +18 stealth, but that includes +4 from being tiny and +2 dex. Enlarged, his size bonus is +4, not +8, and his dex is +1, not +2. So Mookie's +18 mod becomes a +13.

Stealth check for Mookie to avoid shards: 19! One shard hits the bird.

Mookie flies out of the forest!

Bliss, on the other hand, has a +22 stealth check. He does not even have to roll. He moves so quietly that he has no worries.

OOC: What are the shard rules for talking? casting? shooting his bah? I ordered Bliss to cast Divine Power. Did that happen? If so, what's the check to avoid shard damage?

Shel looks around at the vast number of werebats, and tried to determine if they had indeed spotted her through her spell.

OOC: Perception 21 to try to tell if the bats had pinged her or not.

As there was nowhere to flee, with the forest being as dangerous as the bat scourge, Shel held her ground, waiting on any targets approaching her to present themselves.

The swarm of bats that Murphy had called, though they take an age to come, at last appear and their yawning, screaming mouths fall upon the foes with ravenous appetite.

Seeing that his swarm is doing himself justice, and that Veseley and Tiana are protected by his Veseley's magic, Murphy takes a step back and continues casting.

"You defile even this wretched place with your presence!" he screams, encompassing both the Huntsman and the were-bats that are his thralls. "And though you think you know of bloodlust, you are but an AMATEUR! Now do I summon to my aid a thing that shall sup upon your blasted flesh and it shall teach you of ways of war that you can not even dream of! THEN you shall KNOW that my name is MURPHY and I do SUMMON...

the WOLVERINE!"

"Oh no..." Alleah inhales sharply. Rais isn't moving. If she'd been quicker perhaps she could have made it to his body in time. If only they'd stopped when she said to. Perhaps she should have cast a sleep spell and stunned him before he evan ran into the forest? There are so many ways this could have gone differently. Why would Wardd choose this way?

Alleah will make straight for the goblin girl "Isra! I'm coming! You need to get out of that forest!" Once by her side, Alleah grabs her hand and drags her from the dangerous forest

Mookie flies out of the forest!
Bliss looks around... the forst is both beautiful and deadly yet the cautious one can safely walk through... speach shouldn't be more than a whisper... the singing of a bowstring or crossbow will cause a tinkle up in the canopee yet it's unlikely some shards will fall...
He (softly) calls upon the power of the Gods.

Hazel and Sardok continue dancing with the Werebats. Hazel shakes of the poison that runs through his veins. Then, holding his Sling Staff in both hands, slams into Werebat 3... He makes a tactical movement away from Sardok assuming the battle hardened warrior will understand...

In the forest Faoil softly howls and with his tail between the legs the dog runs out of the forest!

Shel's between a rock and a hard place... the Werebats are dreadful but that lovely forest sure can kill too. Once can only assume what would happen if everyone runs through the forest with a bunch of werebats on their six...
Stopping she tries to determine is they had spotted her - it seems no werebat is turning towards her... yet...

Sardok sees Hazel's ploy abd tries to work with it... then while fighting he grits his teeth and voices his plan to rush the Huntsman once they have dealt with the Werebats...
He feints succesfully and catches Werebat 5 off guard.

Muprhy finishes his summoning spell and a swarm of Bats appears engulfing Werebats 4 and 9...
They take respectively 2 and 3 HP damage. He takes a step back and begins a second summoning spell... this time he expects a Wolverine!

Seeing Rais go down Alleah inhales sharply... if she had been quicker... if only they's stopped... perhaps she could have... oh there are so many ways this could have gone differently...

Dispite the rain of shards she has witnessed Alleah too runs into the forest talks rather loud... She grabs Isra by the hand and drags her from the forest... Isra refuses at first for she wants to stay with her brother...
Alleah heals the young Goblin lass but then the shards tinkle to one another once more dropping a miriad a smaller (harmless ones) on Alleah and Isra yet ... depending on your Stealth Check more will drop... (Alleah, please make a DC20 Stealth Check - 50% chance shards drop on either Alleah or Isra...)

Veseley drags Tiana away from the bats and towards the forest. As he goes Werebat 4 tries to bite the Wizard (Hits AC23 - Damage 6 - FORT DC15 - Succes)

Bliss peeks out through the trees. He sees that his friends are sore beset. He takes a five foot step to AS15. He snipes at enemy #10. He hits AC23 for 7 damage. [OOC: Sorry, forgot a +2 when I rolled.]

Then he ducks back behind a tree, taking cover for protection and stealth.

He is careful not to make any sound that will bring down shards.

"Uh oh. They're after Isra" Alleah looks to the young girl, but doesn't say anything. If she were to call out and alert the others it could spook Isra.

How can she protect the girl fom 12 werebats? Not to mention the Hunstman.

She smiles weakly and looks to the girl "Hold my hand Isra. I'm going to change shape into a creature now. I want you to hop on my back and hold on for the ride"

The bloodwitch draws on the nearest leyline and focuses to cast a spell (Leyline check:57=Pass. Cast Beast Shape I. Alleah changes form into a Deinonychus)

Murphy carves sigils of Life and War in the very air, where the glowing arcs crackle, as if this reality struggles against the creation that the druid dares to bring to his aid. But the spirit of that which he summons can not be denied, either in the ether, or on the battlefield.

With a crying lie a thousand voices screaming in agony, the air is cracked with the noise of Battle-given-flesh.
A wolverine, a small ball of fur that is Nature's Avatar of Agony takes form and immediately launches itself at the nearest target (of 4) with a fury and lust for battle, it's brain only barely holding onto the clutches of sanity as the violence about to ensue fills its vision.

As the battleline soldifies in a red-lined haze of steel and claws, Murphy turns his head and sees the damage that Hazel has just endured. "Stay vigilent, friend. With no more direct threat in front nor to his six, Hazel makes a step closer to Sardok (he doesn't go into the bat swarm of course) and lashes out at WB3 hitting it heavily on the sternum...

Veseley sees the pack of Werebats ahead of him and none of the Humble's Sword around to accidentally injure... so he evoces blistering fire which engulfs all of them!!

Well, if all the enemies are running away, Bliss sees no reason to keep sniping!

Murphy frowns at the current situation. He his irked that such a low being as the Huntman plays with them as if toys, yet he cannot met out the justice so deserved while they are both under attack themselves, and must protect the goblin children. A prospect that seems fleeting since Alleah is moving....what's this? She's coming back? But that just seems so, so...

Perfect.

Murphy maneuvers the swarm to T15-U16, ensuring that one more foe will be...eaten. (4pts dmg to 3)
The wolverine, screaming like a cat in a blender, runs in an arcing hyperbole, coming around to X15, seeking the flank, and sending a wild claw at the bat. [atk:11 dmg 6]

Meanwhile, the man himself strides boldly next to Tianna, and draws lines of Air and Tumult in the space around him, but holding it, hanging on until the opportune time to release his magicks and make life for the bats quite...difficult.

(sorry folks, was making my post yesterday evening on my phone and hitting a wrong button I lost everything... too tired to restart)

Alleah makes a perfect summery of the situation...

She makes a wide arch and races back to the Second Dinner's Club!

Faoil likes Alleah too much to leave her at the mercy of those Bat things. He charges after WB11 and takes a good bite out of it!
Hazel takes a new tactical position and hopes to decapitate the Werebat. Havging sucesfully darted passed the WB however he fails to connect... Possibly due to the Bat Swarm that is still there.

Seeing all enemies running away Bliss decides it would be safer out of the forest. Cautiously he moves to the edge of the Crystal Forest and fires a bolt at WB6!

Alleah is on the brink of pannicking. She can't talk... she can't cast a spell... of yes she sure can run but how long before the Huntsman's arrows bring her down?!?

Acid splatters around when Shel tries to take down another bat.

Murphy is irked that the Huntsman is playing them all like toys. Seeing Alleah running away with Isra is troubeling the young druid at first but then the colorful dino doubles back! Perfect!!
He repositions the Bat Swarm (I took the liberty to slightly change your coordinates so Hazel is not in the Swarm). WB3 is engulfed with the Bat Swarm... Furthermore it is distracted from it (failed Fort save DC11)

Murphy also redirects the Wolverine. Screaming like a cat in a blender the Wolverine comes around the back of WB5!! Sadly the critter is too ambitious and fails to connect.

Having guided all summonned creatures Murphy walks over to Veseley and prepares a spell to match Alleah's strategy...

Sardok is on a killing spree... WHAM... WB3 crumbles to the ground...

Only WB5 is able to continue fighting the Wolverine or Sardok... the warrior appears to be more threatening for he has already killed several of the Werebat's kin... Scared and alone the creature fails all three attacks... (hitting AC9, 16 and 12)

The 4 Werebats chasing Alleah first follow her path... as the racing Dino begins to race back the Werebats continuesly change direction also making a kind of arc to double back...

The Huntsman spurs his steed East expecting to get close to Alleah but he had not anticipated the Bloodwitch cunning idea... He raises his bow but having made a double move he can not attack... now

Veseley stands next to Alleah. He as well now understands that they are hunting Isra... he casts a protective spell on the young Goblin lass. (casting protection from Evil)

Alleah needs to get Isra out of harms way, and fast. The added protection from Veseley is a nice touch, but she fears it will not be enough. The werebats and Huntsman are definitely after her.

Like a hyped up 7 year old, she makes a bolt for it. Due south. She has to keep Isra safe. (Run south. 4 x 70ft = 280ft. I think that works out to be position AE80).

Alleah fully expects the Hunstman to send an arrow her way. The least she can do is make it harder for him by giving him some distance to worry about. And the party of course.

She can feel Isra's hands cling desperately to her, er, feathers.

He lines up his attack to coordinate with the screaming Wolderine on the foe's other side. "You should never have come here! You are but a pawn played by a pawn! The druid frowns at the flight of werebats. They move too slow! Leave it to such flunkies to fail to embrace their death with best speed. He sighs. Nothing for it but to bring death to them.

"Come, my pretties, give off your plaything. Those that would outnumber a child 4 to 1 should find it fitting when they are outnumbered 1000 to 1 themselves!"

The swarm moves to AF14 and starts eating 1, 11, and 6 for 3,4, and 5 pts of dmg respectively.

The Wolverine sees hate-beyond-reason that the thing before him is not already covered in its own entrails. It's red-hazed mind denies the immiediate summons of its master long enough to land a solid blow. Only then does its forebrain take heed long enough to begin to join his master, and then but reluctantly.

Faoil chases after the Werebats and this time he attempts to bite WB2 but his teeth only take a piece of void...
Hazel moves to the only remaining Werebat close to him and ferosciously lashes out at WB5!

Like a hyped up 7 year old Alleah makes a bolt for it! She runs and keeps running away South hoping to get Isra into safety.

Bliss surveys the situation and shoots again at WB6... the following Alleah he also moves South... Mookie is no where to be seen...

Shel moves to meet the incomming Werebats and throws another splash weapon. However she gruesomely fails... luckily it did not end up falling on her own feet instead!

Sardok dances through the warrior's attacks. He lines up and flanking WB5 he makes a full attack! His first attack goes wide but his second strikes true (sneak attack only on your first strike).

(Sardok does not need to move to flank - just for clarification, if you can draw a line from your any corner of your square to any corner of your flanking buddy, and this line crosses 2 edges of the opponents square than you are flanking. The crossed edges must not be opposite to eachother)

Murphy is not acting like he normally does... this place is creeping up on him bringing forward a kind of folly that we not yet perceived with him! He mercilessly redirects his summonned creatures. He intends to send the bat swarm on top of the incomming group of werebats but they don't move fast enough... This is the last round of the Bat Swarm and at the end of this round the swarm dissipates.

The Wolerine goes for a full frontal assault on WB5. Only one claw is able to tear flesh from the hybrid but it is sufficient to take the creature down...

Murphy calls upon Lightning and prepares to evoce this terrible power on the Werebats...

Veseley concentrates on Tiana...

With Alleah no longer within their reach the remaining werebats scream madly. It's obvious their master does not tolerate failure... so they are eager to bring down those who protect the children!

Hi Steven... About flanking, I know you don't care, but the rules state:
"When in doubt about whether two characters flank an opponent in the middle, trace an imaginary line between the two attackers' centers. If the line passes through opposite borders of the opponent's space (including corners of those borders), then the opponent is flanked."

Calling out to Sardok for gelp, Shel backs away from the Werebats that attack her. She had hoped to burn one of the hybrids yet her ray goes wide...

Hazel turns pale seeing Shel and immediately he charges WB1! But his attack is ill planned and fails.
Faoil bites back Werebat 2! Sensing his master's panick the dog runs after Shel trying to ignore any sneaky hits from his opponent! Too bad the Werebat's just a bit faster!

WB2 AoO Bite hits Faoil AC23 - damage 5HP!!

Sardok has taken quite a beating, and Alleah would desperately like to help him. However her first concern this day must be for Isra.

Actually, my AC is 21, and WB's third attack hit AC21, so that's a hit, making 5 hits total.

Also, I see 4 attacks landed at 7 hp each. That means I take 28 damage, which puts me at -7.

If the 5th attack hits for another 7 (which is the average) that puts me at -14. I have a con of 12, so that means I'm dead.

I don't think any of us have a Raise Dead, so that means I'm out.

Sardok sinks to his knees... the last hit (-4HP) puts him at -11HP and perhaps with just enough time for someone to rescue their rogue!

Hazel steps in and hopes to take down WB11 but he comes only a tiny bit short...

"Is he toying with us!", Alleah thinks for surely the Huntsman can't be scared from you!? Of course it IS a game to him... The Bloodwitch would have lived helping Sardok but right now her concern is to keep Isra safe..

Shel finishes what Hazel started and WB11 goes down.

Bliss changes target to WB1 and shoots ... and then goes closer to the fray...

Faoil had it and runs away South!!

Murphy comes closest to a medic so hr runs up to Sardok and casts a Cure Mediocre Wounds on him!! Sardok is healed with 15HP gettong him back to +4HP!!

Then his eyes go wide as he sees Hazel battling a bat just s few feet away. "We must not drink the wine of victory just yet. We've still a partner or two that wishes a dance. Let us not be unaccommodating."

Hazel considers helping Sardok but he decides it's best to deal with the Werebats first. WB1 receives a blow that knocks a few fangs from it's mouth!
Faoil, injured but away from the Werebats, runs further South!

Shel too feels the Southern horizon looks more promising that the bats close at hand... she does shout to bring the WB2 around for another round!

Alleah starts to circle back wary for the one (one?! I count 2) werebat that stands in her way...

Bliss rushes to Sardok but comes short to administer his healing spell.

Standing close to Sardok, Murphy takes his healing wand and deals with a few deep slashes.

Sardok gets groggily to his feet... but before drinking the wine of victory he urges his friends to help out Hazel and deal with the remaining Werebats! Dispite his injuries he circles WB1 with the intention to destroy it when opportunity allows.

With The Huntsman being out of the picture for the time being, Shel tries to cut the were at in pursuit of Alleah off at the pass. She double moves 40' straight left, hoping that Alleah's loop will lead the beast into range of her Scorching Ray next round.

Hazel finishes the werebat in front of him leaving only the werebat that's chasing Alleah. It' just a matter of seconds before Alleah manages to lure the hybrid to the rest of the scattered group where the creature cones to his end...

And then all falls silent...
There's no trace of the Huntsman...

Time to get assembled and patch up.
A Goblin kid died... A friend of yours almost died... And Amalee is still to be found. Probably on the other side of this accursed crystal forest...

"This place gets worse by the minute! What's with that awful forest over there? There's not even any places to hide in this land." Shel didn't know what to say to the remaining goblin. She wasn't crazy about them as a race, but if she were all alone out here, she'd want some help too. Hopefully, by not protesting to its inclusion, the goblin would receive some sort of comfort.

Alleah rejoins the group and dismisses her changed form. She gathers everyone close by and thanks Wardd for allowing them to survive the battle (Channel energy to heal everyone for 4pts damage)

She takes hold of Isra and holds the young girl, as a mother would comfort an upset child. She expects Isra to struggle, so holds her all the more tightly. Looking to Murphy, all Alleah can do is shake her head and frown. It's hopefully enough to convey the boys fate.

"Are any of those creatures still alive?" she asks the group quietly. Alleah wonders whether the creatures might rise again. Do they need to be killed with silver weapons or a steak through the heart of something? Then again, maybe they aren't undead creatures. Maybe they are just men who were afflicted with some curse? (Knowl Religion: 20 to ID the dead creatures)

Bliss checks over the dead for treasure. "That's what Mookie taught me to do, as soon as a fight is over." He detects magic for good measure.

Speaking of whom, Bliss sends out an empathic pulse to his familiar, summoning the raven back. He renews both of their sizing spells.

"Well! says Mookie on his return. "Someone had to go scout out things over there!" He seems a bit shy about admitting he ran away like a baby.

Bliss takes that in stride. "What did you see over the forest, Mookie? Did you fly over to the other side?"

It may sound like an odd request: saying a prayer for your enemy. Alleah doesn't mean for it to sound heartless, and certainly doesn't want to offend anyone in the party. But death - no matter whose - is something to be taken seriously.

Now what to do with Rais?

"Isra. He is your brother. I know this is a huge amount of responsibility to place on someone so young, but as his only relative here, how we proceed will be up to you. Do you wish for me to say prayers for him now that he might find peace in the afterlife, or, do you wish me to take his body with us that I might some day find a way to bring him back to you? I will honour your decision"

Sardok shakes his head, still trying to clear the battle-fog.

"You've a good idea, Alleah. We don't know what magical or unholy physilogy these creatures may posess. Bliss, once you've finished searching the bodies, let's start a fire and see that they are permanently laid to rest.

Alleah, you've mentioned one final task. I'd not ask you to again go into the glass forest, so I'll do it."


Sardok approaches the forest until he comes across a shard on the ground. Gingerly his gloved fists pick it up and examine it, wondering at what biology might cause these to exist.

After a moment's pondering, he backs up a few feet, just to be sure.

Then he shouts at the forest.

When the shards stop dropping, he retrieves the body.

As Alleah shakes her head in response to his query concerning Raif, Murphy bows his head for a moment, a quiet prayer on his lips. He attends to Isra's response to her question.

For Sardok, he applies three more curative spells from his wand (6+3+4=+13 hp). Hazel receives four (8+5+9+4=+26). Faoil receives 8. If the dog or anyone needs a bit more healing, there is a 4 hp cure available (claim it, or it goes back into the wand's dwindling reserve).

Then he looks about for fuel for the bonfire Sardok recommends, and works to gather the fallen into one pile.

Shel doesn't know what to think of all this anymore. What with the forest? What to say to a kid that just lost her brother... the kid being Goblin!?

Worried for his trusted companion, Hazel calls for Faoil. Wounded the dog comes back... ears flat...tail between the legs... making sure not to go anywhere near the Werebats...

"Where's Rais", Murphy asks...

The words cut through the ever dark realm. When Isra hears them she wants to rush over to the forest but Alleah stops the Goblin child and comforts her like a mother would. Isra first resists but them she yields holding firmly to Alleah while tears run down her face...

While Alleah comforts Isra she asks the others of any of the werebats are still alive. She realises these must once have been normal men... but infected with a kind of Lycantropy. Silver sure helps!

Bliss takes care of looting the creatures. He comes up with 6 tear shaped pearls...
Next he calls out for Mookie... The 'brave' Raven had the intention to scout ahead...

Alleah softly asks Isra what she wants to do with her brother. The girl doesn't know... she's old enough to understand what has happened but she never dealt with something like this before...

Hearing Alleah's intention to say prayers for the Werebats startles Hazel!

"Pray for these demons? Sounds like a good idea. I bet they would hate it!"

(OoC: I think this one deserves mentionning on the "Hall of Best Quotes")

Sardok agrees with Alleah's suggestions to permanently deal with the hybrids. Once thar's done he offers Isra to recover her brother from the forest...
He shouts at the forest bringing down thousands of razorsharp crystals... owww... of course they also perforate Rais' tiny body... good thing Isra did't see this.

Oh Oh... I am very confused...
With that experience my tally is 16,300 xp for Hazel, so he finally can go to level 5... But he was level 5 already! What happened here?
What level are we supposed to be? Is my XP tally correct?


DM Steven - that would be my doing. At the beginning of this adventure I asked yiu all to go up to lvl 5. You probablt adjusted your char sheet but did not add the xp needed for levelling :-)

Bliss casts Detect Magic and studies the pearls. He also prays for help figuring them out (Guidance cantrips). Spellcraft checks to ID: 17, 18, 24, 27, 15, 14.

He helps bring the body from the woods.

He asks Mookie how far it is to get through the forest.

He observes that passing through the woods slowly and loudly -- to shatter the shards in front of us as we walk -- is one option. He looks to see if the shards grow back, and how fast.

Before the bodies are disposed of, Alleah performs a small ritual for each man. "Gargul, Lord of life and death, take this man to your promised land. Judge him fairly on his deeds, and I pray you forgive his indiscretions. May his spirit now be free of the illness that overcame his mortal form. And forgive us this day that we sent him to you." Alleah repeats the prayer for each of the deceased werebat/men, reciting it whilst touching an area on their foreheads (their third eye).

As for Rais, Alleah determines that now is not the time to make final arrangements for the boy. She casts Gentle Repose on his body to preserve it.

While the others debate about how to proceed, Alleah takes the large blanket from her kit and gently lays the boy upon it. A simple casting of Clean Blood and he looks much better. Finally, a Prestidigitation spell, to have the boy smell of sandalwood - a traditional flower for the recently deceased.

"It'll be ok, Isra" Alleah whispers to the girl "Somehow I'll find a way to bring him back to you. But for now we must let him rest"

And with that, Alleah wraps Rais up tightly in the blanket.

Murphy assists Alleah with the bodies, and especially with Rais. "I believe she means to keep her word, dear one," he tells Isra. He wipes a tear from his eyes.

As the group prepares to travel on, he takes a look at the tear-shaped items gathered by Bliss. "I'd wager those are Eberyon's Tears. They stick to fur or feather quite nicely, and confer magic to the bearer. My sister and brother and their friends fought a white bear that had one - it conferred mercy, so that damage done was of a non-lethal nature. Those of you who read my brother's book may recall that passage. I'm not certain what each of these do... maybe this one is..." [knowledge arcana: 18, 17, 26, 12, 22, 17]

"I suppose we could wear one in our hair, or Faoil in his fur, or Mookie in his feathers. It could be handy knowing what each does, though." He casts detect magic on each one, though Bliss already did likewise, hoping better to discern the purpose of each tear - if that is what these are. He places one in his hair to see if it seems to stick there. If it does, then he tries to carefully remove it from his hair without tearing his hair out.

As Alleah says a prayer to Gargul, Sardok bows his head and stands next to her in silence through it. To be judged fairly is all anyone could ever ask.

"Bliss, ask Mookie if it is posible to just go around the forest. If it extends for anything less than a few leagues in either direction, I'd rather take the extra time than to trudge thourgh a spike-field forest."

(OOC: Sorry this is a little short and late...needed to run to the grocery store with the wife and we left late so there is that)

Working together the party is able to discern that Murphy's hypothesis of the tears being Eberyon's tears are correct. Murphy identifies the tear that he wore as having the flaming property, Shel working with Bliss is able to determine that the next three have the frost, shock and thundering properties in that order. Bliss, with a little help from Murphy is able to identify the last 2 tears as having the ghost touch and undead bane properties respectfully.

Murphy is able to remove the tear from his hair without pulling any hair out.

Shel feels that the group should move out as soon as possible.

Bliss and Sardok have questions for Mookie who managed to survey the forest from the air and Alleah sees to the dead and Isra.

"Kid, you have to remember that this is Koshe Marr. The crystalline forest appears to stretch endlessly at least from the air." Mookie says.

"I think the only way to get to the cemetery is through it, unfortunately. The good news is it doesn't look like too far to travel through it at least as the crow flies. With that being said we could take a breather before venturing there."

What will you do? Press on to the cemetery or rest?

I didn't quite get that... the forest "appears to stretch endlessly" but the cemetery is at the other side of it? It will be a VERY long walk...

Bliss laughs. "Well obviously, Mookie and I should fly above the forest with the thundering tear. We can thunder a safe path through the forest, and you all can follow close behind."

The tiny fellow takes the tear and sticks it in his hair. He refreshes his sizing magic, mounts up, and flies over the Forest with Mookie to test his idea.

"Let's just see how far the thundering sound extends before we set a foot in that forest" Alleah suggests to the rest of the party. "Though I am curious how you will activate it, Bliss. Doesn't it require an excellent shot to activate? If possible, I think it would be a good idea to try and keep the path narrow. This forest was here long before us. Let's not destroy it unless we have to. Besides, should something approach us we might better hear them coming, as well as being able to use the crystal shards against them"

Kneeling by the edge of the forest, Alleah will collect a few pieces of the crystals that have fallen. If possible, she will even try to reach one of the leaves that are yet to fall. An intact sample would be a magnificent souveneir of this place.

"Hazel. Hazel. Listen to me. You know of Eberyon - King of the Fae Eberyon? He is most ancient. He created the Wold's Cradle and inspired the creation of the Wold. His wife, Maab, placed him into a long sleep," Murphy explains to his friend.

"Through agency of elves across the Wold, he returned from ages of sleep not many years past. He was reborn to a cousin of our family, out in the Culverwood. He did wonderful and terrible things, was adjudged by heroes throughout the Wold - including Kendry and Selithe, and was granted life, so long as he chose to reform his ways.

"So, anyway, in the Cradle of the Wold there are magical oysters that grow tear-shaped pearls. Certain fairies gather these at the command of the King and give them to deserving animals of the Wold. Each Tear of Eberyon sticks to fur or feather like a burr, so that even unintelligent animals can use them. Tears will also stick to a creature's scales or shell or hide. And each renders a benefit, usually in combat, to the creature that bears such a tear.

"This one," he says, holding out the one he had placed in his hair, "causes flame if I strike an opponent well enough - at least as far as I can tell so far. The others can cause frost damage, shock, thunder. This one allows you to harm a ghost, which normally cannot be touched by material creatures. And the last one allows the bearer to more effectively harm the undead - perhaps a useful ability in these realms."

Murphy brushes his hair back, and places the flame tear back in his hair. "So, does that help answer your questions?"

In answer to Shel, he says, "Let us keep 'trudging on' as you put it. We've been given a limited time in which to find Amilee." He looks over the group. "Sardok has shown he has the lungs to disarm the trees. Let us follow behind him - perhaps we can take turns with shouting, and thus subtly and unobtrusively make our way through this crystaline forest."

Sardok gets out a pot and a pan from the camping kit. He figures he could save his voice but generate enough noise all the same.

(OOC: I am posting the link to Eberyon's Tears so that you can review what they do. Please note the bonus conferred only applies to a single unarmed or natural attack per user, so you may want to rethink the everyone gets one strategy unless they have a decent chance of hitting with an unarmed or natural attack...IMHO )

Alleah gather's samples of the fallen glass growth shards and is nimble enough to pluck an intact sample from a low hanging branch.

There is debate among the party as to how to proceed moving through the forest, Bliss suggests that he and Mookie could fly above the trees punching a rock with his monk training and the thunderous tear, Hazel suggests throwing rocks or dropping things from on high on the trees in front of you, Murphy suggests that Sardok could use his bellowing voice to clear a path, but in the end Sardok grabs a pot and pan from the cook kit deciding to save his voice for something else.

Murphy schools Hazel on Eberyon's tears and Shel thinks that everyone should take one. Sardok calls dibs on shock, Shel takes the frost tear, Murphy takes the flame tear and Bliss has the thunderous one.

You start your procession through the crystalline forest with Sardok in the lead banging on his pots and pans, the rest of you not far behind occasionally adding a vocal accompaniment to the percussion. You don't travel too far into the woods when Veseley says, "It appears that some fog is starting to encroach on our parade." Sure enough the wizard's words ring true and the rest of you notice that an oppressive fog has risen. You can just make out the path back out of the forest through the fog, though if you keep going it is possible you may lose sight of it. Do you still press on through the fog to the cemetery or do you head back outside the forest to camp in the hopes that the fog will abate after some rest?

As Sardok sees the fog roll in, he calls back to the company following him. "Was it not spoken that we had not too far to travel through this accursed place? If it is not more than a few score leagues, I'd wager 'twould be meat to be quickly though, than brewing 'afore it as a stone in the kettle. 'An none have gain to say, I'd council for keeping to our path. How say you back there?"

Sardok pounds his kitchenware slightly less frequently in case any decide to stop him and turn back.

Shel casts Detect Magic on the fog, looking around to see if this was a natural occurrence, or if it was something else altogether. "If this fog is natural, we could try and wait it out...I hate to have to turn around and lose all the progress we have made so far. We could always camp down right here as it might disperse quickly."

Hazel blinks at Murphy's explanation.
"But.. wait... ok... oysters? How did these get here? Well, I trust you. And I think they won't do anything for me, anyway. Also, I don't feel like hanging perals from my beard..."
OOC: If I understand correctly they won't help Hazel as he uses weapons, but could be used by Faoil, as he bites the bad guys, right?

"Shel, your pendant. Tell me which way it is pointing." It always points in the direction of the moon Wardd. "Here in Kosche Marr - does it point toward this realm's moon?" He queries.

If it seems to maintain a steadfast direction, then he counsels. "Let us shout down the leaves, and step forward - yet guided by Shel's guidance to continue in a consistent path."

He also uses his own sense of direction, though in a foggy place in so strange a forest, to help the party maintain a reasonably straight pathway through the crystaline trees. [Survival 21]

Bliss does what he can to figure out the deal with this mist. He Detects Magic and Poison. He uses his untrained knowledge (check result is a 17).

Thinking about that mist is making Bliss edgy, and he shivers. Then he casts Endure Elements on himself and on each of his friends. Somehow it dies not seem to help?

Assuming it is not poison or magic ...

"Well, we could run away from the scary mist, or we can be heroes and forge on ahead," says Bliss. "Let's go forward."

Mookie cocks his head and looks at him. "That's what dead heroes say."

Bliss sighs. "Hush Mookie."

Sardok manages to chuckle a bit at Mookie's fatalistic philosophy as he pushes on.

"And what would you have us do, oh wise feathered-friend? The only path of surest safety lies a day ago as we stay in bed and ignore the smoke and cries for help. We can not pause where we stand and to retreat is merely to allow the enemy to direct our actions. The path to both victory and safety is, as it most usually is, forward, through the teeth of the foe. As the wisemen say: Victory is the surest path to peace."

The party weighs the idea of stopping for a rest to wait out the fog or pressing on. Shel and Bliss cast spells to help determine the nature of the fog. Bliss detects no poison and both he and Shel detect a faint aura emanating from the mist, however this being Koshe Marr there is a certain amount of ambient magical energy and the reading they get from the mist is consistent with the Koshe Marr baseline so the fog is no more magical than anything else in Koshe Marr is.

(OOC: I read the fact that the fog is magic, but not unusually magical for Koshe Marr that we are following the conversation starting with Bliss urging to press on, if this is not true please let me know)

Hazel is of the opinion that the group should stop to rest and vocally declares he hates this place but everyone else is for pressing on. Murphy has an idea to help the group keep in a relative straight path despite the poor visibility and Shel takes out her pendant at Murphy's behest. As Shel holds the pendant aloft, it starts to spin back and forth as if searching for the satellite it is supposed to always point towards. As the minutes tick by the pendant shows no sign of stopping, you come to the realization that whatever that moon is it is not Wardd, that is to say if it is even a moon so once again Koshe Marr has served up the unexpected and bizarre.
(OOC: I hope I didn't break the mood, but I couldn't help it)

Bliss casts Endure Elements on his friends as he ponders the fog before advocating that they press on, because after all it is what heroes do.

Mookie offers the sobering thought that that is what dead heroes say.

Alleah just smiles at the familiar's bluntness while Sardok and Bliss each tell the bird to hush in their own ways.

Despite the fact that the pendant of Wardd is of no use as a navigational aid, Murphy is still skilled in woodland lore, which luckily for the party this translates well in the environs of the crystalline forests of Koshe Marr. Although the mist is heavy and visibility is exceedingly poor Murphy manages to guide the party successfully through the forest of shards.

Eventually you reach a clearing in the forest and notice that the fog has lifted a little. Just beyond the clearing you see the wrought iron entrance to the old cemetery piercing the cloud cover like a splinter in one's flesh, beckoning you to enter.

Do you press on to the old cemetery or camp in the clearing just outside it? After all who knows what could be lurking in there? This is Koshe Marr.

"Anyone else find it disturbing that Koshe Marr has a cemetary?" Alleash asks the group as she fights the urge to tremble. What in the Wold would be buried here? Hopefully it remains buried.

"Does it mean someone around here respects the dead enough to create a place for them though? I guess that's one way to look at the glass as half-full."

"I concur. We pushed through past the glass forest and now that we have escaped it, I think a healing rest would be most welcome before we brave the dangers of whatever lies inside those morbid gates."

Sardok pitches camp. Now that he's reached the safety of the other side, he takes a moment to really study the glass forest. Are all the shards that fall tiny? As in, glass shards? Or are some of a large size?

After making it through the forest of shards the party decides to camp in the clearing before moving to the cemetery.

Hazel maintains his stance that the party should rest and Shel agrees as she needs to recharge her spells.

Alleah asks if anyone else find it disturbing that Koshe Marr has a cemetery and Hazel says it is the most normal thing here, then ever the optimist she looks on the bright side that at least whoever built it has respect for the dead. Alleah then looks for tracks, but doesn't find any. If anyone did pass this way before you it could have been ages since then.

Sardok concurs as well and pitches camp, then turns his attention to the crystalline woods. The shards, before they broke off due to your load noises were composed of a myriad of different sized glass like spikes from fine splinter size ones to stake sized spikes.

Veseley helps with the camp duties summoning an unseen servant, setting up an alarm and producing food and water using his sustaining spoon and decanter of endless water (OOC: As far as I can tell the only way for wizards to create food and water is through the use of magic items, divine spell casters have this niche filled soooo in order to keep continuity with my co-dm Veseley has a sustaining spoon and decanter of endless water) The wizard then turns his attention to Tiana trying to make sure she is comfortable or at least as comfortable as a catatonic person can be.

Bliss points out to the party that there is no telling what is in the cemetery and Mookie once again contributes to ominous mood by cackling and saying in a deep voice, "That is not dead which can eternal lie."

Isra shivers in her blanket and says, "I don't want Rais buried in that cemetery. Promise me you won't bury him there."

Veseley says to the group, "I am glad we have stopped for a rest, but resting will do little good in recovering my arcane power. My spell book was not transported here with us so the only spells I can cast are the ones I previously prepared that I have not cast yet. I will do what I can to aid you, come what may, but a lot of my spells were spent in the tower before you arrived and I have cast a number of my remaining spells already here. I am sorry I cannot be of more help."

The group bed downs for the night or rather a period of rest since with that moon in the sky it is technically always night in Koshe Marr.

After you bed down for the night and fall asleep brown fur sprouts from all over your body and you grow leathery wings. You take to the air and began hunting for the large mosquitos that are native to Koshe Marr. You also suck the blood from some native Koshe Marr goats before returning near camp and hanging upside down in from a depleted branch of the crystalline tree. You will wake hanging upside down in the tree with your feet caught in the crook of the tree. You can post reactions to your transformation b/c you are essentially a passenger in your were bat form but you cannot control the were bat as you are an afflicted lycanthrope. Bat Sardok has a mind of his own.}

Hair sprouts from all over his body and he grows leathery wings while his body makes popping and cracking noises as his insides rearrange for his new shape. }

Hmmm ... what watch is Mookie and Bliss on? Rolling a random d4 ... First watch it is!

Perception check for Mookie and Bliss is only a +12 and a +13, respectively. No need to roll to hit a DC38, since they cannot make that anyway.

The two keep a careful watch during an evidently uneventful night!

Murphy's sleep was troubled by images of frosted knives swarming toward himself and his friends, and of shapechanging monsters offering bowls of hot oatmeal filled with worms. A figure looms in the distance, fletched arrows visible in the quiver on his back.

He notes a party member's absence shortly after he awakens for his morning devotions to Eberyon. "Did Sardok dig a hole wherein to relieve himself?" he asks innocently.

Since most of his food is back with his ponies in Humble's Ford, the towhead druid opens his pouch of jerky. "A stick of this should satisfy your hunger for the day," he tells his friends, offering a stick to each, including Faoil. He considers Bliss's companion/counselor. "Uh, would you fancy a piece of jerked venison, Mookie? If not, feel free to come up with a suitable remark for me having made such an inappropriate offer," he says with a wry smile.

Before settling in for the evening Alleah cautions the others about the possible hazards of sleeping in the forest "We don't know how quickly the crystal leaves grow. We could find ourselves in trouble if they magically reappear around us. Also, let's be careful of the rising sun. It's rays could be focused by the crystals and we could find ourselves burning very very quickly"

With all that cheerful stuff out of the way, she settles down for the night cuddled up next to Isra "Don't worry. I haven't given up hope of bringing him back to you yet" she says of Rais. Alleah stays by the girls side until she is sure the girl has gone to sleep.

Alleah is usually on the same watch as Bliss (first) and notices nothing at all unusual. When her time comes, she sleeps quite soundly until awoken by others.

"What is it? Is it .. him again?" she whispers, rising from a disturbing dream. Murphy draws her attention to Sardok's bedroll. Could the huntsman have found them already? Did he snatch Sardok right out of their midst?

She wakes up for her turn, and notices Sardok wasn't around. She didn't want to bother that others as for the first time in a bit, a few of them actually seemed to be sleeping well, but she felt she had no choice. "Everyone wake up...Sardok isn't here! We need to see who has taken him. It looks like another Huntsman trick!"

Will save = 13

Sardok falls heavily into his bedroll. The day's events, from the over-matched fight to the death of the goblin, to the trudge through the unholy murder-forest, had taken a toll on his energy reserves. Though he did the best he could to put on a brave face as the 'tough' of the group, not since that time that he fought a week-long running battle, hunting the last of an IronHand raiding party with Monpezat, did he ever remember being this tired. Sardok collapses into as soon as he's fully prone, and can barely manage to pull up the blanket before he's under.

He has many dreams that night. Of the battle, of the Hunter, of fighting bats both larger and faster than him.
At last his unconscious mind changes gears and he dreams of himself floating, flying, rising up up up, past clouds and fog and stars. Up up up until he breaks through the dome of night and finds himself in an illuminate room of infinite dimension. Before him stands a being of unreal brightness, cloaked in a many-layered robe of white that shines with the fury of a thousand suns. To him, the being speaks: "SARDOK. I AM IMRAEL, ANGEL OF CONFRONTATION, BANE OF CORRUPTION AND MESSENGER OF PROPOKET, THE HERALD OF GARGUL. UNTO YOU IS GIVEN THE QUEST TO END THE EVIL THAT STANDS BEFORE YOU, AND SO BRING ONE OF GARGUL'S MOST HATED FOES LOW. THE STRENGTH TO DO SO YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN GIVEN. FAIL ME NOT."

AS Sardok opens his mouth to ask one of the countless questions that come to his tongue, the room disintegrates and falls falls falls an infinity downward, and comes to an abrupt halt. He is instantly awake, and reaches up to grab the branch he seems to have fallen into, so he can lower himself to the ground.

Such a dream seems...unrealistic? But if it didn't happen, how was he in the tree?

"Hello?" he calls out, anxious to make his way back to camp and friends. "Can anyone hear me?"

If he sees a sign of them, he jogs forward to make sure they know he's okay. Unsure of what just happened, if any ask him how he got in a tree, he simply says he was 'out for a walk'.
